Anyone care for some dogday brainrot!!?? 🐶🌞🌻🧡💛

This is my version of dogday!! I've been super obsessed with poppy playtime ch 3 and the smiling critters so much. The chapter on its own was so much more creepy and lore based then the others and it absolutely captivated me. The smiling critters freaked me out a lil tbh but after a bit I got also super obsessed. I absolutely LOVE dogday since the first time I saw him and what happened to him in the game was so awful he deserved so much better, the poor pup (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Anyways drawing these guys has been so much fun and the redesigns I've been seeing are super amazing so I've wanted to do mine and now that I have I literally want to draw them all the damn time. The one on the left is a more streamlined design cuz I honestly forgot his eye spot on the other one lol. But I wanted his face to resemble sun rays in a way and I am really satisfied with the way he looks in my style.

I have catnaps ref done already and posted em on my Instagram but I'll make a lil drawing page for them as well cause it was so fun to do for this guy. I hope y'all like this just as much as I did making them!!

A little continuation in regards to that DogDay carrying a guitar around headcanon because it kinda fits him to have that musician vibe(?

He´s like Spongebob or Steven Universe with their ukeleles- The Smiling Critters go on trips or adventures and Dogday just takes out his instrument out of nowhere and begins to play silly songs to lift up the mood xD

"Dogday so tall now, did he grow up?"

Yes, technically I had too do that to him. I was uncomfortable by this one people, not a artist. On Twitter. Thinking my Dogday is weak and helpless against Catnap as a sexual way....... So I made my Dogday, for Chapter 2 Taller by two inches than Catnap and they're the same age. Just for safe side.

Introducing The Smiling Critters!!! This isn't entirely an AU persay but i like to call these guys the 'Better Bigger Bodies'. Toys that are ACTUALLY SENTIENT without the need for child testing and experimentation! Hurray!!! Might draw more of the B3's eventually but for now u get the sillies bc i LOVE them...

DogDay: -he/they (demiboy) -ageless (mentally 21) -cocker spaniel -leader of the group by default due to outgoing personality -people pleaser at heart, loves going along with the group once the ball is rolling -can tend to get lost in his own thoughts, bottles thiings up for the betterment of others Catnap: -he/they/it (nonbinary) -ageless (mentally 23) -russian blue -second in command by default (hates it) -always tired but is also an insomniac, lavender gas has stopped being effective for them -very bad add that doesn't mix well with the insomnia

Hoppy Hopscotch: -she/her (cis) -ageless (mentally 19) -white tailed jackrabbit/hare -motivational backbone of the group -sets high expectations for herself that she does her best to acompish -she hates it when shes told she can't do something

Kickin' Chicken: -he/him (trans ftm) -ageless (mentally 18) -leghorn chicken -youngest of the group (and shows it) -usually the one to innitiate games. loves having fun, very adhd -has really bad abandonment issues, covers it up with entertainment

Bubba Bubbaphant: -he/him (cis) -ageless (mentally 26) -bornean elephant -oldest of the group (and shows it...) -talks a bit too much, but is only try to help and usually only has the best intentions, just a bad way of showing it -remembers too much about things that probably shouldn't matter anymore

Bobby Bearhug: -she/her (trans mtf) -ageless (mentally 21) -black bear -the all forever mighty mom friend -always there to be a shoulder to cry on. she'll be your #1 listener and reassure you as much as you need -she doesn't quite know her own strength sometimes

Craftycorn: -they/them (nonbinary) -ageless (mentally 19) -unicorn -shy, introverted friend who draws on napkins at dinner -loves to express themself through art, whether that be drawing or writing, maybe singing -horrible at reading people, constantly worried for friendships but doesn't outwardly say it

Picky Piggy: -she/they (demigirl) -ageless (mentally 20) -red wattle hog -always inviting people over, loves planning get togethers -loves to cook and bake, always making something that she gets her friends to try -has horrific intrusive thoughts they kind of just spout out sometimes

May I ask about your catnap and dogday?

of COURSE! So dogday is pretty standard. I based all of them off of different real life breeds or patterns when doing my redesigns so Dogday was an Australian shepherd. He's the one who gave Catnap the trinkets for his tail, and he is, as standard, a pretty cool leader. In this au they're in the critterverse, but the designs do sometimes extend (although modified) to my playtimeverse. In which case, the human who's inside dogdays soul is Sunny Catnap is based off of a ragdoll cat. This is cause ragdolls are pretty lazy, very fluffy, and very patient. I like to think that Catnap would be a helper for children with disabilities in playcare, so i took that into account when i was designing him. He's my fave so he has a bit more going for him admittedly lmao. His charms are interchangeable from a nightlight to a bell, he has the bell on during the day and the light on at night. He has the moon cycles on his spine, and i imagine in my critter au he would be really into astronomy, and get dogday into it as a result. I did actually change the face markings on catnaps design later on, but otherwise they're both still the same I have a lot planned for them but as it stands I have a different hyperfixation atm, so they're honestly a bit on the back burner

Me: I don't really care for Poppy Playtime

Also me when there's a group of ragtag lovable critters from a cartoon show that doesn't even exist that pulls at my nostalgia and whimsy: WOOO YEAH BABYYYY

And now that i have you here, here's some headcanons because i'm too unhealthily obsessed!!

-Dogday, despite his friendly and welcoming personality, has an archnemesis: A squirrel critter, who's also a mailman

-Bubba isn't too good with emotions and sentimentality, so he makes up for it by learning things about his friends' interests and sharing facts about it

-Bobby, even though being obsessed with love and romance, has never been IN love. That doesn't mean she doesn't love everyone, we stan an Aromantic queen

-Hoppy is in a constant state of zoomies, and unitentionally causes most of the shenanigans in the series

-Catnap isn't nearly as dimwitted as Hoppy, but he is mostly spaced out all the time, he's just happy to be included

-Kickin is way smarter than he lets on, it's just that his preferred company are dummy troublemakers

-Craftycorn, being a Unicorn, came from an egg. She has only ever shared this fact with Kickin

-Picky is the strongest of the critters, with a good diet and farmwork. She's the only one who can survive Bobby's signature Bearhugs, it's part of why they're best friends

Smiling critters redesigns

Since bubbas character is that hes the brains i gave him a monocle and a pencil, i lightened his and all the critters colors to make them mkre softer and all of there accents are white as well because i wanted something more uniform visually besides of the necklaces.

I put bows on picky to make her more cute and i put fluffy gloves on as well to go with the clean freak attitude i headcanon for her, a polished look.

I gave bobby bear a more valentine's day palette, she has scrunchies around her wrist as well for a cuter and sweeter look, all animals with paws have their markings on there paws.

Even if crafty is super smug (in my headcanon) since shes a unicorn i gave her a more regal look, to lean into the shy softness her voice gives her. I gave her softer eyes as well. In a "dont judge a book by its cover feel."

Added teeth and some scars and bandaids to lean into the sports aesthetic, as well as sweat bands and knee pads

I gave kickin a more tougher look since hes the cool one. I lightend his necklace as well and gave a bandana and more scars since hes more careless than hoppy

Dog day has some bandages from being clumsy and is covered in stickers to show his fun personality but sweetness as well.

Catnap is in sleep wear for obviously reasons i thought a nightcap was a little over used so i gave him a sleepmask in stead, catnap also has scars because of the accident and doesnt have white accents to show his disconnect from the other smiling critters.

Funfacts abouth the critters:

Catnap sleeps so deep the others often think hes dead.

Dog day, somehow, only manages to injure his legs.

Kickins eye scar is from crafty.

Hoppy is into astrology.

Crafty cant do magic.

Bobbys hearts on her paws beat.

Pickys limbs will randomly stop working.

Bubba is allergic to peanuts.
