I wanted one for my wizard’s familiar. Our DM let me do the stats
Somewhere between 3.5 and 5e wolves got nerfed, so the Pathfinder variant (2nd pic) has some changes.

For anyone who’s been wondering what I’ve been up to at uni! I’m making a pet “dragon” (glorified genetically engineered reptile) in a full-scale partial kitchen set! She’ll be cast in foam and silicone and poseable!

Crocs having some of the same uses as maybe horses would be the best, croc drawn cart... CROC RACES!!!
They’re not that big, the leggy boy i drew’s like the size of a lab maximum. I still don’t really know that they’ve been domesticated either, but if I do decide to go that route theyd be more like..... dog sized cat. And definitely leaning towards exotic pet type position
For like, horse archosaur tho, consider something like............................... Emu
#consider the emu#crocors are not very social. not really a dog#also i need to stop calling my leggy bois 'dogcroc' b/c that is an actual extinct croc#Squid 2 the evolution of the squid#pricklepaws#asks

What species is gerson? Whats he look like?
Gerson was named Tarbh'Usiage by some people. A horrible misconception, but he was large, fast, high on his legs, has bits of fur on his face, and would violently bash his head and shell into people as an attack.
Before that war, Gerson was a peaceful creature that would come up out of the lake and walk around with deep grunts or even bellows to greet his friends. During the war, he was one of the strongest and bulkiest defenders. He definitely wasn’t a runner or long distance traveler, though he could manage short bursts of speed to smash into walls or troops. (This is what earned him the nickname of ‘warhammer’ among monsters.) He preferred to defend others though. Nowadays he just sits in his pool, collecting junk and tending to his crabapples. He is really friendly and sleeps most of the day. He’s extremely old and weakened though, so unless he gets help, chances are he’ll never leave the Underground again.
He basically looks like a giant tortoise with a chipped and scarred shell. His legs are pretty much set underneath him like in ancient dogcrocs though and can stand on his hind legs for short amounts of time. there are two horn growths right next to each other on the top of his head. He also has a beak and a row of spines on his shell like a snapper turtle. He also has a thick, strong neck and a pretty long tail with 4 spokes. One of the most peculiar things about him though is a layer of wiry fur above his eyes and under his neck.

“DogCroc”, Araripesuchus wegeneri. Lived in the Sahara during the Cretaceous, along with other variations on the same horrifying theme.

i have! the hypermobile dogcrocs were a particular interest to me when i was trying to figure out why crocs were close but not close enough, to the point that kaprosuchus was a short lived hyperfocus for me. ultimately, they werent right. close but not right. the indoraptor’s movements hit home tho--there was a very distinct moment of “thats me!!” when i saw this walk cycle in the behind-the-scenes JW2FK extras:
to this day i cant watch any depiction of the indoraptor, bipedal OR quadrupedal, without going “gods i miss moving like that”
hey y'all! I've been out for a bit and I'm late on this but I've got a new kin question of the week for you!
what did you do to determine your patterns/body color/scales or etc for your kintype? did you just go with whatever felt right, or design something to fit what you are?
i sat down with a friend and basically went with what felt right, along with a few distinct details that I felt were part of my coat (speckled back, etc.). I wanna make a new design bc I don't feel it's that accurate, tbh!
Also sorry if this question doesn't apply to you (beings with a singular coat color, etc)- but is there anything specific that you feel is a part of your body? like a nub tail or something?

Lepidohipposuchus
Had to do a little further digging for this, but the three key notes are "scaly/flaky", "horse-like", and "crocodile-like"... But those already existed.
It would either be this...
Araripesuchus wegeneri, otherwise known as the "DogCroc", or...
Kaprosuchus saharicus, otherwise known as the "Galloping Croc".
You could also make an argument for Araripesuchus rattoides, AKA "RatCroc", but they're a little too small, in my opinion.
this took me too long to make, heres a translation glossary
bonus points if you draw your abomination
