What to Do with Dog Poop until Trash Day- A Step By Step Guide
If you are a dog owner, you know the importance of picking up after your furry friend. Not only is it a courtesy to your neighbors and the environment, but it is also a legal obligation in many places. However, what do you do with the dog poop until garbage day? Where do you store it? How do you prevent it from smelling or attracting pests? And how does it affect your water quality and health?
In this blog post, we will answer these questions and provide you with some practical tips on how to store dog poop until trash day. Finally, we will introduce you to Outpaws, a brand of eco-friendly and odor-proof dog waste bags that can make your life easier and cleaner.
1. Store the Poop in an Eco-Friendly Trash Bag
One of the easiest and most common ways to store dog poop until trash day is to use a trash bag. However, not all trash bags are created equal. Some are made of plastic that can take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills, while others are biodegradable and can break down into harmless materials.
Biodegradable trash bags are better for the environment and can help reduce your carbon footprint. They are also safer for your dog, as they do not contain any toxic chemicals that can leach into the soil or water. Some biodegradable trash bags are even scented, which can help mask the odor of dog poop and make your outdoor space more pleasant.
When you dispose of dog poop in a trash bag, always seal it tightly and place it in an outdoor trash can with a lid. This will prevent the poop from leaking, attracting flies, rodents, or other animals, and spreading diseases. It will also keep the smell contained and away from your home.
2. Invest in an Odor-Proof Pet Waste Station
Another option for storing dog poop until trash day is to invest in a pet waste station. A pet waste station is a special container that is designed to hold dog poop and keep it odor-free. It usually has a lid, a liner, and a deodorizer that neutralizes the smell of dog poop. Some pet waste stations are also equipped with a dispenser that provides you with biodegradable poop bags.
A pet waste station can be a convenient and hygienic solution for storing dog poop until trash day. It can save you time and hassle, as you do not have to worry about finding a trash bag or a trash can every time your dog does his business. It can also keep your yard clean and tidy, as you do not have to deal with piles of poop or bags of poop lying around.
However, a pet waste station can also be costly and require regular maintenance. You have to replace the liner and the deodorizer periodically, and you have to empty the container when it is full. You also have to make sure that the pet waste station is secure and stable, as it can be knocked over or damaged by weather or animals.
3. Flush Your Dog's Poop in the Toilet
A third option for storing dog poop until trash day is to flush it down the toilet. This may sound surprising, but it is actually one of the most environmentally friendly and sanitary ways to dispose of dog poop. Flushing dog poop in the toilet allows it to be treated by the sewage system, which can remove harmful bacteria and pathogens that can cause diseases in humans and animals. It also prevents dog poop from ending up in landfills, where it can release greenhouse gases and pollute the groundwater.
However, flushing dog poop in the toilet is not as simple as it sounds. You have to make sure that the poop is solid and not too large, as it can clog the pipes or the septic tank. You also have to avoid flushing any poop bags, even if they are labeled as flushable, as they can cause plumbing problems or environmental issues. Moreover, you have to consider the water consumption and the water bill that flushing dog poop can entail.
Outpaws: The Best Solution for Storing Dog Poop until Trash Day

Outpaws is a brand of eco-friendly and odor-proof dog waste bags that can make your life easier and cleaner. Outpaws dog waste bags are made of cornstarch and vegetable oil, which means they are 100% biodegradable and compostable. every so often i make this mistake that i told myself i would never do again which is that i buy super light roast coffee beans that are great in a pourover and i tell myself i will simply never have a day when im too exhausted to deal with a pourover . and then eventually a thursday or friday hits i cave and instead of dealing with a pourover i make a french press . with the fruitiest most floral artisanal light roast . like a stupid fucking idiot baby who knows nothing
#the tannins dog 😭#the problem with buying medium roasts of course#is that they’re not as interesting and they don’t tend to have as many cool flavour notes#when i Do Have the energy to have a pourover#i should just get two different coffee canisters one of which holds the med dark and the other the lights#but that feels wasteful like u should get thru a bag in two weeks tops or it all starts tasting the same#my posts

Durability: Bags on Board are constructed from sturdy materials that can withstand the weight and volume of large dog droppings without tearing or leaking. This durability ensures that pet owners can confidently clean up after their canine companions without worrying about messy accidents.
Convenience: Each bag is conveniently sized and easy to carry, making them ideal for use during walks, hikes, or outings with your large dog. The compact design allows pet owners to keep a supply of waste bags on hand at all times, ensuring that they are prepared for any situation.
Odor Control: One of the most notable features of Bags on Board is their odor-neutralizing technology, which helps minimize unpleasant smells associated with dog waste. This feature is particularly beneficial when disposing of waste in public trash bins or carrying it for an extended period.
Environmentally Friendly: Many Bags on Board products are biodegradable, meaning they break down naturally over time, reducing their impact on the environment. This eco-conscious approach aligns with the values of responsible pet ownership and sustainable living.
Tips for Using Bags on Board Effectively
While Bags on Board provides a convenient solution for managing large dog droppings, pet owners can maximize their effectiveness by following these tips:
Always Carry Extras: When venturing out with your large dog, it's essential to carry more waste bags than you anticipate needing. This ensures that you're prepared for any unexpected accidents or multiple bowel movements.
Dispose Properly: After picking up your dog's waste, securely tie the bag and dispose of it in a designated trash receptacle. Avoid littering or leaving the bag on the ground, as this can create unsanitary conditions and harm the environment.
Be Mindful of Public Spaces: Respect public spaces by cleaning up after your pet promptly. This demonstrates responsible pet ownership and fosters a positive relationship between pet owners and the community.
Consider Size: When selecting Bags on Board, opt for larger sizes or those specifically designed for large dog breeds. These bags offer ample room for containing large droppings, reducing the risk of leaks or messes.
Conclusion
Managing large dog droppings may seem like a daunting task, but with the right tools and practices, pet owners can tackle this challenge with ease and efficiency. Bags on Board provides a convenient and hygienic solution for disposing of dog waste while promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental responsibility. By prioritizing proper waste management, large dog owners can enjoy their time with their furry companions without compromising on cleanliness or environmental sustainability.

During the 2008 recession, my aunt lost her job. Her, her partner, and my three cousins moved across the country to stay with us while they got back on their feet. My house turned from a family of four to a family of nine overnight, complete with three dogs and five cats between us.
It took a few years for them to get a place of their own, but after a few rentals and apartments, they now own a split level ranch in a town nearby. I’ve lost track of how many coworkers and friends have stayed with them when they were in a tight spot. A mother and son getting out of an abusive relationship, a divorcee trying to stay local for his kids while they work out a custody agreement, you name it. My aunt and uncle knew first hand what that kindness meant, and always find space for someone who needed it, the way my parents had for them.
That same aunt and uncle visited me in [redacted] city last year. They are prolific drinkers, so we spent most of the day bar hopping. As we wandered the city, any time we passed a homeless person, my uncle would pull out a fresh cigarette and ask them if they had a light. Regardless of if they had a lighter on hand or not, he offered them a few bucks in exchange, which he explained to me after was because he felt it would be easier for them to accept in exchange for a service, no matter how small.
I work for a company that produces a lot of fabric waste. Every few weeks, I bring two big black trash bags full of discarded material over to a woman who works down the hall. She distributes them to local churches, quilting clubs, and teachers who can use them for crafts. She’s currently in the process of working with our building to set up a recycling program for the smaller pieces of fabric that are harder to find use for.
One of my best friends gives monthly donations to four or five local organizations. She’s fortunate enough to have a tech job that gives her a good salary, and she knows that a recurring donation is more valuable to a non-profit because they can rely on that money month after month, and can plan ways to stretch that dollar for maximum impact. One of those organizations is a native plant trust, and once she’s out of her apartment complex and in a home with a yard, she has plans to convert it into a haven of local flora.
My partner works for a company that is working to help regulate crypto and hold the current bad actors in the space accountable for their actions. We unfortunately live in a time where technology develops far too fast for bureaucracy to keep up with, but just because people use a technology for ill gain doesn’t mean the technology itself is bad. The blockchain is something that she finds fascinating and powerful, and she is using her degree and her expertise to turn it into a tool for good.
I knew someone who always had a bag of treats in their purse, on the odd chance they came across a stray cat or dog, they had something to offer them.
I follow artists who post about every local election they know of, because they know their platform gives them more reach than the average person, and that they can leverage that platform to encourage people to vote in elections that get less attention, but in many ways have more impact on the direction our country is going to go.
All of this to say, there’s more than one way to do good in the world. Social media leads us to believe that the loudest, the most vocal, the most prolific poster is the most virtuous, but they are only a piece of the puzzle. (And if virtue for virtues sake is your end goal, you’ve already lost, but that’s a different post). Community is built of people leveraging their privileges to help those without them. We need people doing all of those things and more, because no individual can or should do all of it. You would be stretched too thin, your efforts valiant, but less effective in your ambition.
None of this is to encourage inaction. Identify your unique strengths, skills, and privileges, and put them to use. Determine what causes are important to you, and commit to doing what you can to help them. Collective action is how change is made, but don’t forget that we need diversity in actions taken.

Switching to Compostable Dog Waste Bags is a step in the right direction, but they must be disposed of correctly to make a real environmental impact. Regular home composting is not suitable for pet waste, as it may contain harmful bacteria that require high heat to neutralize. Instead, look for municipal composting programs that accept pet waste or consider investing in a pet waste composting system designed to safely break down organic matter. Avoid flushing these bags, as they are not meant to dissolve in water like toilet paper. Proper disposal ensures the bags decompose effectively without harming the environment.

So. Funny story.
I've been interested in road signs and dog poop bag dispensaries for some reason, and during my travels I like to take photos of the things I find interesting.
I saw this poo bag dispensary at a rest stop in Oregon, but there were people around so I was too embarrassed to take a photo. I went into the restroom, and when I came out it seemed like I had a clear shot! So I hurriedly pulled out my phone to take the photo, then as I was taking this photo I saw an old man watching me, so I kinda.. darted away in a hurry.
The old man then went and looked at the poo bag dispenser to see what I was taking a picture of. And then both he and his wife were staring at me as i walked to my car.
Then I got home and looked at the photo--it turned out terribly because I ran away mid-snap!!
I embarrassed myself for the stupidest photo I've ever taken and I will be crying myself to sleep for the next year or so thank you very much 😭
