And people bitching about Yaz’s gay arc or whatever because it doesn’t fit their personal experience need to shut up about it, really, you are not a monolith and you’re just betraying your ignorance. Just because it’s not relatable to Your personal lived experience, doesn’t mean it isn’t to others, and the casually offensive bs that is spouted in some circles is both inherently self centred and most ironically, pretty homophobic.
#dw shit#there is sooooo much bullshit here#it's hard to unpack it all#yaz's coming of age story including something about sexuality is not weird#it's not weird it happened when she was like 24 in general!!!!#but Especially in the context of the story where we know for a fact yaz was friendless and bullied in school#went straight to a job she overworked at#then met 13 and did nothing but travel with her#like hmmm woman who has Probably not had a deep friendship with anybody let alone a woman#in her adult years#doesn't realise she's In To another woman and thinks they're just friends#is... very explainable in every way#like??? r u guys okay#it would be perfectly explainable if yaz was a social butterfly and Still didn't notice till then!#an uh#najia asking yaz if she's dating 13 and getting a nope and then asking if yaz is dating ryan is#a parent that has no idea whom their kid is into and is deliberately being Inclusive so they don't box them#and/or let them know it's alright if they Are into the same gender#basically her mum is nosy af but not homophobic the end#and tbh since sonya isn't shy about talking about dudes it's probably Super obvious to her parents that yaz Doesn't talk about dating#in a compare and contrast way

having feelings about trans Gwen,,, like there's the 'superhero leading a double life' allegory for being closeted, which ppl have noted, but there's plenty I haven't seen anyone mention yet! like, the fact her dad has a trans patch in support of her means she's out.
She's a young trans *girl* (as opposed to a trans woman) living as her authentic gender in a loving home. she went to her school dance in a dress. she did ballet! which of course boys can do too, but often times when people are assigned male they don't get the chance to explore feminine hobbies. It's really lovely that someone, likely Gwen's dad, supported her enough to let her have those girly experiences and memories, whether she was living as a girl when she took dance up or as a gnc boy.
While it's subtle rep, I still think it's awesome to imply a character like Gwen is trans. Trans girls don't always get to have a childhood. Transmisogyny fetishizes transfems and presents them as always victimisers, never victims. They're barred from girlhood and it's connotations of innocence, vulnerability, lovableness.
Not that Gwen isn't a hashtag strong female character! And not that she hasn't had to grow up fast in other ways. She Is Literally Spiderwoman and she plays the drums and has agency and expresses negative emotions. But she's also a teenager, and she gets to be hugged and comforted, and to be set up for a soft friends to lovers relationship with another teenager, a cis boy who respects her and only knows her as a girl and thinks she's amazing and draws her in his sketchbook. That is not a role the media often lets trans girls have!!! It's lovely to think young transfems might be able to see themselves in a character consistently shown as worthy of affection.
Of course, the fact that Gwen is in the closet about being spider-woman is even sadder knowing this is her second rodeo. Lots of us have hesitated to come out a second time because our parents were supportive about the first thing and well, putting something else on them feels like taking the piss or hoping for too much.
Something else I wanted to talk about is how Gwen being trans effects a reading of her Peter's death, especially taking into account the new information this film gave us about this. There's this gendered switch happening, where Peter passes on his usual role to a woman. What's more, he has to die for her story to happen. She loves him, and never wanted him to die, but she's blamed for it anyway. Her father talks affectionately about the dead Peter, calling him his daughter's best friend. He talks about him like a son. He vows revenge on Gwen for killing him. It's a fantastic allegory for how some transphobic parents hate their out trans children for 'killing' the kid they had before.
I think with the above in mind, maybe we can see the subtext of Gwen's arc with her dad in this film as that of a supportive parent who's nevertheless got some biases left that hurt his trans daughter, who doesn't speak up for fear his acceptance is conditional.
I don't think it's a stretch to suggest that protecting a trans daughter is this Captain Stacy's motivation while he's working as a cop. Obviously there's the text that he wants to be a 'good cop' to work against the institution's bigotry, and he displays the trans flag on his work jacket. His quitting the police is a fantastic story beat because it makes a point about the real world while also serving a lot of the analogies going on.
Good cops quit. They realise you can't be a well intentioned cog in a bigoted machine. It doesn't matter if you're a bigot or just taking actions a bigot might because you're working within parameters set by bigots. It's an important message. Within a trans reading of the film, I'd also see this plot moment as Stacy realising he can't protect his trans daughter if he's still playing by the rules of a society that see her as threatening and duplicitous. He's then able to stop seeing her on some level as having killed his son.
They're able to be close again because he has completely rejected the cis culture he was a part of, rather than just decrying the worst parts and slotting Gwen in. She no longer has to worry that he'll rescind his acceptance if she's too trans, and so he gets to know all of her because she can let him into her world without self-editing.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on Gwen after watching Across The Spiderverse two hours ago lmao.

Let's pretend that the upside down doesn't exist for a second.
Eddie still befriends Mike, Dustin and Lucas at school, but he doesn't meet anyone else. He knows of Steve Harrington, knows that he used to rule the halls of Hawkins High but, despite Dustin's constant begging for Eddie to meet him, he never really does.
Sure, Steve waved at Eddie whenever he dropped the kids off at hellfire and he offered to change Eddie's flat tire once, but that's it. After Eddie graduated, their paths never really crossed again.
Not until years later when they're both older and wiser and a little bit drunk in a bar far from the prying eyes of Hawkins.
Eddie bumps into a tall woman at the bar and the countless apologies he had ready instantly died on his tongue when she turned around and gave Eddie a dazzling smile. "Hi, Eddie. Didn't think I'd run into you here." She says with a light laugh. She has a really pretty laugh, and smile, and eyes and her hair looks so soft.
It takes Eddie's brain three business days to reconnect and realise that this gorgeous woman knows his name. He hadn't introduced himself, and yet she is smiling down at him like they're old friends.
"I'm sorry, have we met?" He waves over the bartender and orders himself and the mystery girl a drink.
She thanks Eddie for the drink and leans in closer to be heard over the music. "We went to high school together but I've, uh, definitely changed since then." She laughs and it's clear there's some joke he's not getting but he laughs anyways. He doesn't want her to walk away. He needs to know everything about her and he's trying so hard to remember everyone he went to high school with.
"Did we really go to school together? I think I would remember someone as gorgeous as you." He reaches up and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear so that he can see her face properly. Her cheeks flush a brilliant shade of red, and she steps closer to him. "What's your name?"
"Stevie." She says softly, her voice a little shaky. "Harrington. My name is Stevie Harrington."
Eddie furrows his brows and takes a step back to really take her in. "I didn't know Steve had a sister."
Stevie throws her head back and laughs, it's a gorgeous sound. Eddie's scared he's fucked up by not remembering that Steve had a sister but then she meets his eyes and there's something there that feels oddly familiar.
"I don't have a sister, Eddie." She says and takes a sip of her drink, her eyes watching over the rim of the glass for Eddie's reaction.
"What -" And then everything finally clicks in his alcohol clouded mind. "Oh. Oh."
He can see it now, he can see that the ghost of someone he hardly knew clings to parts of her; the moles, the pouty lips, the kind hazel eyes. They are all features he used to find himself staring at during school, features he can’t stop staring at now.
"Is that a good oh?" She asks quietly, her hand fiddling with her bracelet nervously.
Eddie motions the bartender for another round of drinks and moves closer to Stevie, a gentle smile pulling at his lips as he says, "Definitely a good oh. I was actually, uh, Edwina before I was Eddie." He pulls his leather jacket aside to point at his bare chest underneath, at his top surgery scars. Stevie's mouth forms a soft 'oh', and the tension in her body leaves as she realises that she's safe, she's with someone like her, someone who understands.
He's never told anyone his dead name before, but he could see the fear in Stevie's eyes, fear that she'd said too much to the wrong person.
All that fear is gone now as she smiles, really smiles, down at him.
There's an excited energy radiating off her as she takes another sip from her drink and bumps her shoulder with Eddie's. "I'm glad you bumped into me tonight." She admits.
"Me, too." Eddie beams up at her, her heels making her tower over him, and he's honestly never been happier.
He hopes that this time, they can maybe be more than just acquaintances.
Maybe even more than friends.

I'm in a dodgy hotel with bad wifi and somewhat bored, so I thought I'd come up with a list of things that I wish I could get from GMMTV but I know I won't.
A reveal towards the end of a series that two friends of the main couple have been dating the whole time (think Warm/Cop from Perfect 10 Liners or Mick/Beer from We Are).
Fourth and Gemini in something more serious like Moonlight Chicken.
POLY. DAMMIT.
Lift and Papang playing father and son. (Look at their beautiful faces!). And let them both have romances.
Older queer romance as the main storyline - and when I say older I mean actual 40+ and not a 'second chance at love because first love left/died' but just two people who never really found their person meeting later in life and clicking.
Dance themed but with actors/actresses who can actually dance - and preferably contemporary dance (I don't know if you realise how homoerotic that can be) but it could also be traditional Thai dancing (rather than tpop/idol style).
Short-haired/butch Sapphics.
Produce Jeab's swansong series.
A character/storyline which makes AMPLE use of Phuwin's Mandarin and English (or any other actor proficient in other languages) - shows include thai subtitles for northern dialects so why not more than the usual token foreign language.
In fact, I'll go further to say: Utilise the different languages of the foreign actors who play supporting roles rather than make them speak English and try to fob them off as American. If they're Italian, let them speak Italien. If they're Dutch let them speak Dutch. Etc.
MIX-UP BRANDED PAIRS. Book/Drake. Fluke Nattanon/Inn. Or Fluke Nattanon/Ohm Thipakorn. Jimmy/Mix. (You see my vision). Satang/Title. Victor/Great. JOONG/OHM PAWAT. (They might be TOO powerful). Etc, etc etc.
Take Max from Be My Favourite as a foundation for a lead character for Aou.
GIVE PEPPER A FAEN.
Nanon and Mark Pakin leading a bl. Look I'd even take a bromance if Nanon doesn't want to do bl. Better still if Nanon is in drag/cross-dresses/is a trans woman. This must be serious though. Not played for laughs. (I'm thinking an aged up version of the sides in About Youth).
MORE POSITIVE ASEXUAL REP.
DEAR GOD let AJ and JJ lead a show together. Maybe a comedy bl/het with either mistaken identity or deliberate confusion because they're pretending to be one person but fall in love with different people/genders.
Jus Justina in another show. Preferably leading. (She screenwrites and directs, so might not act again).
More Ployphach…maybe with Jan in a GL if she'll do one.
Peaceful Property Our Skyy 3 edition with their friends-to lovers story set 6 months after the end of the show.
An unhinged female ensemble show - I don't care if it's romance or not, I want badass women working together or in support of each other other. Maybe with JoJo directing.
POPPY.
Please and thank you 🙏🏽
#gmmtv#gmmtv 2025#gmmtv series#thai bl#thai drama#bl drama#these are things I know we won't get#so if we don't then I WIN#but also if we do!!!...then I ALSO WIN!#it's a win win type of bingo#look I KNOW poppy isn't even signed at gmmtv#but you never know when he's gonna *ahem* pop up#and this IS a list of things I know I won't get so...#oh and when I said 'I'm in a dodgy hotel' it was actually on tuesday evening#but I couldn't post it until now

accidents happen (but i will love you on purpose) | 4.4k
They're in the baking aisle when Christopher brings it up.
"Am I just supposed to pretend I didn't see that earlier? Without a bribe?" he deadpans, eyebrows raised expectantly. Its such an Eddie look that Buck can't help but grin down at the price tags on the shelves.
"Pretend you didn't see what?" he asks as he compares the prices of self-raising flour.
"Buck." Chris sighs, long-suffering. Another Eddie-ism that Buck wants to bottle to give to Eddie on his worst days.
"Kid, I'm gonna need more than that." Buck grabs the bigger bag and drops it into the cart before turning to give Chris his full attention.
"I saw you kiss dad." Chris rolls his eyes. "You did it right in front of me."
"What?" Buck blinks. Of all the things he'd been expecting, well, let's just say that hadn't made the list.
He glances down at his list, tries to decipher Eddie's handwriting at the bottom of the page and promptly rolls his eyes at the unnecessarily expensive snacks he added there, gets a little chastened when he sees his own favourite brand of chips that he never allows himself to buy in Eddie's chicken scratch.
"Buck, you can't gaslight me," he scoffs, rolls his eyes harder. "I saw you French my dad."
"Where are you learning these words?" Buck blurts out, unwilling to face up to what his heart already seems to know as it pounds against his sternum.
"Mason." Chris shrugs. "He made a Tumblr account."
"He's eleven!" Buck squeaks, shooting an apologetic look at the single mother who flinches at the sound. "I'm telling his mom."
"No, Buck!" Chris groans, turns his puppy eyes up at Buck. "Pretend you didn't hear that, and I'll pretend I didn't see you French dad."
"I did not French your dad!" The words come out louder than expected, and Buck grimaces as the woman's baby starts to sniffle. She shoots him a dirty look, and he can only mouth a red-cheeked apology. "I did not French your dad," Buck hisses at Chris.
He'd know. Right? Like that's something Buck would know he did. Or, at least, he thinks so. Doesn't see how he could ever miss something like that. He's pretty certain he'd know if he'd kissed his best friend. This is probably just some evil mastermind plot to get something out of Buck. For all he knows, Eddie is probably in on it. A joint effort to turn Buck away from all the mushrooms he's been sneaking into their meals lately.
Yeah, that has to be it.
There's no way he kissed Eddie Diaz. Of all people! His very straight, totally platonic best friend. Buck doesn't even want to kiss him. Like, sure, he's objectively gorgeous. Handsome in his dumb dad Henleys, downright hot in his navy blue uniform, adorable in his cut-off sweats with that grumpy morning frog face of his. But a blind man could see how attractive Eddie is. That doesn't mean Buck wants to kiss him.
"I didn't French your dad," Buck repeats, just for certainty's sake, before heading towards the cocoa powder.
(OR: buck kisses eddie, goes grocery shopping with christopher, then realises he's in love with eddie - in that order)

Handling relationships with women (tldr here) generally is a topic/question I've seen float around a lot in single childfree women spaces and if I'm being real as a single childfree woman if you're serious about committing to this; your circle of deep quality friends will be so small it'll practically be a dot because in a maIe supemacist society so much of female bonding relies on things that would center maIes (& uphold misogyny) so when you dont do these things of course you'll find yourself at odds with making good connections with women especially as so many women center maIes.
There will be a degree of being alone as a single childfree woman. Personally this doesn't bother me as I'm not someone who makes or want a lot of friends anyways; the ones I have in my life are amazing but I'm not a very social person or trust people. On the note on trust I'll add this comment I saw on the female separatist sub on reddit. I think it hits the nail on the head regarding female friendships generally.
Practically speaking, keep maIe centric women, women that ascribe to libfem politics, maIe partnering women etc at arms length distance. You can have good or decent relations with them & keep conversations on non-maIe or non-political things. Even if they circle conversations back to these things, try and take it away again but if it gets too much this is where boundaries come in and you can express that you dont feel comfortable talking about those topics or just walk away from the conversation & talk to them another time, no need to get into why beyond stating you're not comfortable talking about it. I have a couple friends who have boyfriends & they're generally cool. One of them whenever we'd hang out she'd ask how my love life is going (& my answer is always the same - there is no love life) & ik it's a general topic for people but eventually I told her I dont like talking about it & she was cool with it. If your friends rock with you they'll respect your boundaries.
One thing about friendships in real life is that they aren't like the movies where you get a gang of friends or a special friend where you just click & go through the ups + downs of life together. Finding quality relationships is hard especially as a marginalised person. I've realised you dont have to be close with people. It's okay to be an acquaintance or for people to have their roles & purpose.
So when it comes to dealing with maIe centric women generally that are your friends or that you've got a soft spot for, dont get too close to them, dont expect much from them but you in turn dont give too much to them. Keep them at arms length distance - this is important as some of these women can eventually screw you over badly. Be friendly acquaintances with them.
Btw even if you were gender conforming & did everything expected from women it'd still be hard to make friendships with other women given how toxic women can be towards each other, also eventually they'd prioritise maIes over you regardless but just use you in the end.
A while ago I spoke about how I believe this is a lifestyle that chooses you & while you dont have to be a recluse hermit it's not uncommon that women who tend to be introverted & keep to themselves are drawn to this lifestyle. There's less external influence from the maIe-centric world at large making it easier to prioritise yourself and build life beyond romance & reproduction.
#tried so hard to avoid the word normie here it was difficult lmfao#also bear in mind there's levels to maIe centric/partnering women. Some are much worse than others.#Definitely steer clear from the maIe crazy types of women#female separatism#female separatist#wineauntmovement#4b movement#6b4t#wgtow#decentering men#wine aunt#single women#single woman#also dont believe the feminism women supporting women crap in the real world it's a lot more hostile.#Dont get yourself burned trying to play shero.

willow and wilson as foils
copy-pasted directly from discord, apologies for any poor formatting
i think willow has a lot of interesting parallels with wilson, or at least the Correct Wilson Fanon (lol)
they both have very intense fixations on One Subject. for wilson, it's the Concept of science. not necessarily actual science, but being able to point at something and say it is Very Scientific.
for willow, it's fire. for both of them, these fixations are a manifestation of desiring control over their life and circumstances, and have brought harm to both themselves and the people around them. they are both pretty socially abrasive in different ways.
wilson often comes across as odd or offputting, can be too blunt and uncomfortable. willow is brash, rude, and generally contains all the softness of a sea urchin. both of them struggle with sanity and have been frequently dubbed as insane in one way or another, or otherwise severely mentally ill. bonus points for when wilson's instability causes people to consider him a threat. i think they're friends . um
they don't seem like people who would get along because wilson prides himself on being orderly (or at least having the perception of orderliness) and willow is walking chaos, but i think they see themselves in each other to some degree. they recognize the way their lives mirror each other's, even if they ended up in such different directions
it's especially interesting to me when thinking about how wilson is a gentleman scientist, independantly wealthy, dropped out of uni because he just Didn't Like The Vibes (and definitely wasnt expelled. for. um. checks notes. explosions) and willow has been dirt poor her whole life
willow is uncomfortable with making herself presentable because she doesn't think its possible and she doesn't really like the idea of people truly enjoying her company or being gentle with her. wilson seems obsessed with how he is percieved and maintaining the character of a Good Scientist who is Very Smart and Professional, desperate to please
there's just a lot of really interesting stuff going on in how they parallel one another and work as a dynamic
and unfortunately i think a lot of people miss it. especially when they're just looking for "tee hee ship" or view her strictly through the lens of his counterpart. which, don't get me wrong, i think she's a great counterpart to wilson in the same way maxwell is a great counterpart to wilson, but she has her own identity and character outside of that. people usually can realise that with maxwell, but with her its harder (cause she's a woman)

“Where has Charles gone? This is supposed to be her championship pool party!” George complains, holding his Martini glass tightly in his hands.
Lando rolls his eyes.
“It's her championship party, if she wants to sneak out with someone, it's her right to do so…” Oscar argues.
“That's why we can't see Max!” Carlos snickers, making the others laugh.
“Max? Did she invite Max, of all people? I thought they were mates on track only!” George asks, confused.
“Have you been living under a rock, George?” Oscar asks with a small smile.
“I beg your pardon?” George asks after taking a sip of his drink. Alex, on his side, has to keep a loud laugh from escaping his mouth.
“Mate, they've been dating for the past season, what is wrong with you?” Lando asks, disgusted that he finished his concoction of rum and Capri sun.
“Actually, they're together now, since the competition between them got tighter,” Carlos explains, proudly showcasing his knowledge.
“Since the Tuesday of Brazil, I think, Max asked her before the Sprint,” Oscar points out.
“How the fuck do you know this?” George keeps on asking.
“We have eyes, George…” Alex laughs.
Max and Charles are not far away from the party going on in the garden and adjacent beach of the Dubai villa Charles rented. They're on the roof of the building, where the sunspots are, giggling and sneaking away to have five minutes where they don't have to shake hands, accept congratulations for the championship! and sorry for the championship! or withstand some teasing. Five minutes where they can be freaks in love.
The 2025 season was one for the books, with Charles becoming the first-ever woman to win a Formula 1 world championship and Ferrari winning the title again after 18 years. Italy turned completely red, with people and celebrations filling the streets during the day and fireworks illuminating the night. The dream came true for Charles. Win with Ferrari. Against Max. Her boyfriend. She ticked off every point from her list, except having a moment for herself.
The party on Sunday was crazy and the sex with Max in the bathroom of the club was crazier.
Monday felt like a fever dream littered with soft kisses, with realisation slowly sinking in, as all the journalists left in the Emirates asked her all types of questions. The president of the Italian Republic and the Prince of Monaco also asked her for official events where she could be honoured as a champion by the local institutions.
Tuesday was calmer, in a way. Charles wanted another celebration, with just her friends, so she rented a villa in the morning for the afternoon. Her wish was everybody's command. She's a Ferrari world champion. But the party felt stuffy after a while, and Charles, in her bright red bikini, wanted nothing more than to feel Max's cold lips on her skin, looking at his messy hair and sunburned face, so they disappeared on the rooftop of the villa, where a few sunbeds were waiting for them.
Max doesn't bother closing the door to the rooftop, he's too preoccupied kissing Charles, with her legs wrapped around his waist, and trying not to fall as she keeps rubbing herself on his dick.
Max gently lowers her on the soft towel covering the sunbed and kneels between her legs. Charles Leclerc is a sight to behold, splayed out underneath him, her short and curly hair creating a delicious brown halo around her head. She thinks about all the religious imagery created with her face. If she's the Virgin Mary, then he shall be God. Maybe she shouldn't think about him putting a baby in her. Maybe later.
“No reward for the champion?” She asks, with a sly grin on her lips. The red lipstick she wore has moved all over her lips and on Max's.
Max laughs and rolls his eyes. They can hear laughter coming from two floors down, where the party is still going on. Max blushes a little.
“What? Are you afraid they will find out how good you can eat me out?” Charles asks, slowly undoing the strings of her bikini bottoms on her hips, baring her pussy to him. Shameless. Max loves her too much.
She knows he's salivating at the sight in front of him. He's thirsty, no matter how many times he quenches his thirst at such a source.
She watches him kneel on the ground and pulls her closer to him from her knees. Max feels such a deep hunger inside of him.
Charles moans in anticipation and Max licks a fat stripe over her cunt, making her laugh. The Max show is about to begin.
He leaves kisses all over her pussy, keeping eye contact with Charles. When she throws her head back Max sucks her clit lightly, enjoying how she writhes under him. He starts licking at her folds, savouring and claiming, sucking, as his hands keep her thighs spread. Charles moans and Max laughs, reverberating on her pussy. She fists his short hair, pushing his face closer to her core.
Max moves one hand to her labia, toying with the wetness he finds there as he goes back to her clit, sucking and flicking it with his tongue. Charles is always so sensitive, so easy for him to take apart. He gently bites her folds and enjoys when she clenches over nothing. He teases her again with kitten licks at her entrance and when she tugs his hair meanly he grins and starts fucking her with his tongue.
Charles moans and the thought of all the people downstairs comes blaring in her brain, making her impossibly wetter. Max, slurping and sucking, is the only one who doesn't make her feel like a maniac. He gets it.
He coats his middle finger in her arousal and starts teasing Charles’ entrance, looking up at her, covered in spit, searching for consent, breaking his rhythm and driving her crazy. She groans and nods and Max slowly replaces his tongue with his finger, moving up to kiss her mons Venus.
As he pumps his finger in and out he places his other hand over her lower belly, claiming the soft skin there. Charles sobs and undoes her bikini bra, playing with her breasts, pinching her nipples and pulling them, moaning louder as Max inserts another finger in her and fucks her.
He looks so good, gentle and devoted, with his baby blue linen shirt open, matching his ice eyes. Charles could come on the spot, thinking just about her lover. So big and safe and brave. She feels like just a girl when she's with him, in the most positive sense. She's just Charles, whether on an F1 track around the world, in an ice cream shop in Italy, or with her tits out in the Emirates afternoon sun. She's not some kind of circus animal with him.
Charles comes, squirting on his face, as he curls his fingers inside her, licking at her cunt and stimulating her clit with his nose.
He licks her clean and she sobs happily. Before it gets to be too much, Max lets her go, sitting next to her. She hugs him from the side and Max holds her with a big and dumb smile, as she inhales his scent, mixed with the salt in the air.
“I love you,” he says, stupidly in love, and she grins, with her forehead against his bicep.
“I love you too,” she says, laughing as Max drags her on his lap, making her sit there gently, lending her back to the sun.
“Oh God, Oscar, mate, you were right! They were fucking on the roof!” George shrieks in the garden, making her and Max laugh.

My Next Attempt At Long Fic (by which I mean more than 10000 words and it has chapters) Should Be...
Poll and the (actually quite long) gist of each option below le cut:
The Sylki Con Artists AU
This one I have a wee bit written of already but I go back and forth on this one because it's Alternative Universe - Modern Setting and I feel like there's already a lot of those (which I also complain about a lot), and I have to justify it to myself as an experiment in whether I can do a Sylki Modern AU that doesn't just end up as "two people called Loki and Sylvie do normal stuff together". That's why they are con artists in this! Because 1) MISCHIEF (or crime, or whatever) and 2) if they have the same 'job' for similar reasons and I go on about them being similar a lot then that's maybe as close as reality can get to selfcest. (The selfcest is not just a feature of sylki, I feel it is THE feature and to admit to being Bad At Shipping (again) I'm just not that interested in it if they're different people who aren't even aliens. The same alien.) (You can tell me they are gods all you want but I've seen enough Doctor Who to know that must be A LIE so I reject it as such.)
The plot is that they meet in a bar one night and shag (obviously!) and then the reader discovers that Loki is trying to buy a painting from an old woman (planning on ripping off both her and his own buyer) and Sylvie is an artist who is selling a forged painting to some posh twat on the internet who she knows is trying to rip off her fake old lady persona on the deal but she's selling him a fake painting anyway so at least he deserves to be conned. They meet up a few times before finally realising that they are in fact conning each other under fake names on the internet, and then I have to try and fix it when they inevitably get mad at each other because of it. Also, Thor works in a shop because the brodinsons are Downwardly Mobile (dad spent all their inheritance, oh no!) Plotwise Loki is going to actually need Sylvie's painting for reasons I have not yet entirely worked out so one way or another they will have to eventually forgive each other for being con artists as they themselves are and for having attempted to con each other.
Ideally I will be able to make this one funny in some way, as I think the concept can get absurd enough to make a rom-com out of it.
2. The Jotun Heat Fic (also sylki)
I was into this one for about a day and now I have second thoughts because I am not sure I care enough about Frost Giant Biology to have to write an entire fic about it. It would continue my tradition (I did it once, that's enough for it to be a tradition) of turning a tiny ficlet into a much longer thing. This one: The Opposite of Heat, in which Loki and Sylvie go into whatever the Jotun equivalent of the fandom fave 'mating cycles/in heat' trope is, having never done so before because (see if you can guess...) they've never previously spent enough time around another Jotun for the hormones to kick in properly. They have no idea this can happen, and what starts out as Fun Porno-Fic Times soon gets a bit worrying and then I suppose they have to Investigate and that's the bit I fear might end up boring me.
This is set in an AU where S2!Loki did not instantly demand that Sylvie help him with his cop friends' problems and instead just went to live in Oklahoma with her, so the other/'real' plot is them getting used to living together and the weird-but-sexy medical issue bringing them into conflict because of course the first place Loki wants to go for help is the TVA (this not unreasonable of him, as they have a lot of info in their archives and he has no other friends anyway), which Sylvie is not keen on as she would rather just avoid them for the rest of forever. Gosh, I hope nobody goes to the TVA for help behind anyone else's back!
I need a way to make this one stay interesting once it gets to the Find Out What Is Happening part and also it needs to not just immediately end with a sensible solution like just going to Jotunheim and asking someone there for a talk about the frost-birds and the frost-bees.
Also I think they should fuck in that McDonalds. Just because.
3. Jotunheim Rejects The Guy Who Cannot Possibly Be Its Rightful King, Because I'm Annoying Like That AU (not thorki)
Speaking of going to Jotunheim, you know all those fics where Loki goes to be the Rightful King Of Frostland, as Odin apparently planned all along? That but it doesn't work, because I am not at all convinced he can have been Laufey's heir (who the fuck infanticides their only male heir?!) and even if he was well it'd just look awful, wouldn't it? Crusty Old Odin, worst friend to Jotunheim for several years running, sends back your kingdom's heir having raised him as one of his own family. (I hope at least one of you is thinking "US-Backed Puppet Ruler Who Will Do Whatever The CIA Tells Them To" because I did too! Ooh, geopolitical barely-subtext!)
The problem with this one for me is it requires a fairly large cast of Original Jotun Characters, and I still fear writing OCs because of the constant 'Mary-Sue' complaints in my fannish youth. Also I would Controversially (LOL not really) make some of them women, including Angrboda the ambitious would-be consort and Laufey's tragically spurned lover who on finding out that her long-dead son is not dead makes the most of it by insisting everyone call her 'My Lady, the King's Mother' (yes, I stole that from History but I do that sort of thing now, for the LOLs). So I have a bit of an idea what happens in this one, though I'd need to think of more political type plot stuff and also I just finished writing a multichapter fic that involved the Jotun succession so maybe I'd be overdoing it if I did this one now as well.
The other problem is Jotuns are too fucking tall. I mean really. This doesn't seem to bother anyone else but they are Too Fucking Tall to interact with the shorter characters, to the point that it just seems accidentally comedic to me. Just imagine the totally-not-a-puppet king of Jotunheim sitting on a massive throne, swinging his wee legs in the air. And I don't know how to work around that other than just saying "they are Less Fucking Tall in this fic" and I don't know if that would just annoy people. Also it does feel a bit incendiary to go against the general fandom insistence that Loki Is Totally The Rightful King Of Jotunheim. Though I suppose in this he is, it's just that he attempts to become so in the sort of circumstances that make everyone start saying things like "are we really that keen on our monarchy?" or at least "surely there's a cousin or an uncle we could give the crown to instead? yeah, even a woman would do. no, she doesn't have to be alive if there are only dead ones available."
(It was a mistake to let me read books about the Wars of the Roses, wasn't it?)
Oh and this isn't a thorki fic, but Thor is going to go to Jotunheim with his bro to help him settle in and also he will be going back to rescue him from it at the end. Bros before snows!!!!
#if it saves u a click: two are sylki and the other would be an AU from them Thor films#the vote is not legally binding i just like to have the occasional election to pretend i'm not an oppressive tumblrtator#also it'd maybe help to have some idea which of these anyone else would want to read#fic related#with a poll!!!

💛 & OTP: I want the whole damn thing
💛 Reunion Kiss/Relief
Jackson's an interminably long board meeting when it happens, trying to make sense of the world's most boring financial presentation, so he doesn't immediately notice the news bulletin popping up on his phone. It's only when they start hearing voices in the corridor and someone runs past the board room window that they all start to realise something's going on, and Jackson suddenly catches sight of the blinking red notification on his phone screen.
"Multi-car pile up," he explains shortly to the board, already on his feet and heading for the door, scrolling down for more information. "I'm guessing we're the nearest hospital - it's gonna be all hands on deck, so if you're qualified to hold a scalpel, get down to the pit."
(Frank, still holding the clicker for his presentation, looks thoroughly relieved that his only qualification is in accountancy.)
Halfway down the corridor, Jackson stops dead. A cold shiver run down his spine and it feels like his stomach has dropped out of him entirely as he sees the location of the accident. That's April's route to work.
Immediately he brings up her number and dials - but it goes straight to voicemail, and he wants to be sick. He shoots her off a quick text and then tries ringing again and again as he heads down to the E.R.
Each time it goes to voicemail.
He tries to tell himself not to panic. The phone lines are probably horrendously busy with people trying to contact emergency services or friends and family to make sure they're alright, and April not answering might just mean she's not looking at her phone. She's probably trying to help, if she is near there.
He tells himself that, but all he can think of is Ben calling him, telling him he was going to have to perform a C-section on April in her kitchen, of April quarantined behind glass, of watching April on the operating table of Grey-Sloan.
(How much luck can one person have?)
"Pick up, damn it!" he shouts as her voicemail message plays again, and a nurse passing jumps in fright.
"Dr Avery? Is everything okay?"
"I'm sorry, I'm just - I'm worried about my wife."
The word slips out automatically, and it's only after he says it that he remembers that, technically, April isn't his wife any more. Because he was stupid enough to divorce her. They're not even dating, despite the fact that they've been living together since they came to Boston, are raising Harriet together.
And yet he never really stopped thinking of her in that way, did he? Even when they were separated, when he was dating other women, when she was marrying someone else, he still thought of her as his.
"Has a woman called April Kepner been brought in? Late thirties, red hair?"
The nurse shakes her head. "I don't think so - not that I've seen. I'll check for you."
She scurries away, but before Jackson can follow or try to ring April again he's stopped and asked for a consult, and then another, and another, and then he gets pulled into a surgery and loses all track of time.
The whole way through he's repeating silently, Please, God. Please let her be okay. Please let me get another chance. I promise I won't waste this one.
His faith still isn't as strong as April's, he doubts it ever will be. Half the time he's not even really sure what it is he believes in. But it's comforting to pray, whether anyone's listening or not.
When he's finally finished and comes back out into the corridor, he immediately pulls his phone out. It's been nearly five hours, and there's still nothing from April. He wants to scream.
And then -
"There's no signs of internal bleeding, but get a CT scan just to be sure."
He spins round, his heart in his throat. April's just coming out of a patient room with an intern; she's in jeans an a tshirt instead of scrubs, dirt and what looks like splashes of blood staining them, her hair scraped back and a band-aid on her forehead, but she's alive and whole and the most beautiful thing Jackson's ever seen.
"April?"
"Jackson, there you are!" Her face lights up as she turns and sees him. Relief crashing over him, he starts running towards her. "I tried to find you but they said you were in surgery. I came with one of the -"
He cuts her off by pulling her into his arms and soundly kissing her. How she got here doesn't really seem to matter any more, just that she is here and uninjured.
She lets out a little sound of shock, and then melts into him the way she always has, her hands coming up to clutch at his scrubs. The feel of her lips is achingly familiar against his, and he rains kisses down on them, one after another, trying to make up for every time he should have kissed her but didn't. And his heart sings as she lifts herself up on tip-toes and kisses him back, meeting each stroke of his mouth with one of her own.
Finally he pulls back, but only enough to rest his forehead against hers.
"You weren't answering your phone," he says quietly.
"I was doing triage at the scene, and then the battery died. I'm sorry."
"You're alright?"
"Totally fine. I promise."
For the first time since he saw the notification on his phone, he starts to relax.
"Dr Avery?" Glancing up, he sees the nurse he was talking to earlier at the end of the corridor. "You found your wife, then?"
Jackson looks down at April, who's smiling knowingly up at him, a warmth in her eyes that gives him the confidence to reply, "Yeah. Yeah, I did."

Ok so when Rose gives the heart back to unity once more rendering her the vortex and then she dies in her sleep, something goes wrong (either because Desire set a sneaky trap or because it's close enough to breaking the rules of Endless not hurting family) that there's an explosive reaction, and when the chaos dies down Rose is still in the dreaming even though that definitely should have woken her up and Dream is nowhere to be found
Now Rose is stuck in the dreaming, and after a quick five minutes of panicking, comes to the conclusion with Lucienne and Unity that she'll have to track Dream down and get him to fix this. Lucienne needs to return to the palace to keep the dreaming running smoothly, Unity despite seeming chill about it has just DIED and also has never actually used any of her vortex powers the way Rose has and I'm basically just handwaving the fact that Rose is going to have to search for Dream on her own
Or not entirely on her own! Matthew is there, because every young woman embarking on a solo adventure needs a sassy talking animal sidekick, them's the rules
So Rose and Matthew set out on a trek through the dreaming, and this is the point where I could get wildly creative if I had the brainpower, and come up with fantastical dreamworlds
Because this is an AU and I say that being the descendent of an Endless should have some perks, Rose can still travel between dreams, she just can't affect them/the waking world or bring down the walls between dreams the way she could before. She's more akin to Matthew or Lucienne than a vortex, despite being human and aliveSo they spend a while chasing dead ends and leads that go nowhere until they wind up in some dream set in a pretty normal pub, and in true dreamlogic fashion there are people in clothes that come from a mishmash of the last 7 centuries, eating by rushlight while on their phones. But! Rose looks over and there's Dream! Amazing, they found him!
Matthew's like uhhhhh, I've spent a lotta time with the bossman, Rose, I'm not so sure that's - but it's too late she's already marching over
Meanwhile, Hob has been having a really nice dream in which his Stranger enjoys his company and didn't stand him up and doesn't wander off to 'inspire' any upstart playwrights and smiles at him like he did when they finally met up again a couple of weeks ago or whenever it was. He really wasn't expecting it to be interrupted by a girl rushing over to grab his Stranger's shoulder all excited about how we've found you Dream we were so worried are you ok???
And look. Hob is pretty used to rolling with the punches. After seven hundred years on planet earth, you gotta be. But this is, he hates to say, a pretty fucking weird turn for his dream to take usually it turns more toward his Stranger bending him over the table ahem
Also there's a talking bird. Why not
Rose has now realised that this Dream is not, in fact, the real Dream. BUT that means this guy must know Dream! Maybe he can help out? And Matthew is like wait, wait a second. You. YOU'RE the guy the boss went all starry-eyed (literally) over???
Hob reckons uuuuuhhhhh probably not? Took him seven hundred years to admit they're friends, and Matthew is like holy shit that hussy
Anyway I want Rose Hob and Matthew to go on a roadtrip adventure to save Dream is what I'm getting at. I was to continue the glorious tradition of Hob learning things about his friend (😍) thanks to other people and not from his friend himself (😭). I want Hob to play accidental therapist to Rose like he does to his students. I want Matthew to mock him mercilessly. I want Hob to sometimes be an asshole. I want them to BOND
And I want them to make it to the house of secrets and the house of mysteries where Hob is forcibly reminded that he was raised a Catholic medieval peasant when he sits down for tea with Cain and Abel (who think that Gadling would be an excellent name for a gargoyle if Morpheus ever makes another).
I want Abel to offhandedly mention something unspeakably horrible in the basement, but when Rose opens that door it just leads into a big fancy hallway? They go through anyway, and something feels different about this dream. Matthew is all 'I got a bad feeling about this' because Patton Oswalt loves Star wars and I think it's funny. Maybe they see a stuffed raven with a white breast in a room of taxidermied animals
So they keep looking, and eventually Hob finds a door leading to a basement, cracks a silly joke about finding something unspeakably horrible down there to cover up the fact that he's actually fucking terrified (he's come to accept that this is not a dream in the traditional sense, although it took way longer than it should have), and heads down the staircase
(It's the snow globe)
And here I start to run out of momentum a bit but like. I think Hob Rose and Matthew deserve to come together to roast the shit out of Dream while Lucienne tracks their progress from the library with Unity and Merv, who are also roasting the shit out of Dream, and all roasting comes to an abrupt and choked end when they get to the basement
Maybe Dream has been reduced to a cloud of swirling black sand in the orb, or maybe he looks almost exactly as he did in reality, maybe the Dream Team have to get him out but in order for that to happen he has to allow them to help, or maybe he needs to free himself because something something it's a metaphor idk. Maybe Dream, in whatever state he's in, panics at the sight of his bae friend, his raven, and his niece all outside the glass just like Jessamy was. Maybe he tries to throw them all out of the dream, but he's weakened himself as though he really were trapped in the circle again, and Rose is able to stand her ground against him.
And idk I don't really have an ending beyond 'Dream gets out and everyone is OK and also Rose and Hob end up being exasperated penpals over Dream's... Dream-ness.
#Sandman#rose walker#hob gadling#dream of the endless#dreamling#matthew the raven#On today's episode of 'fics I have in my head so vividly and Simply Cannot Put To Paper'#A considerably less angsty installment this time#The dreamling is more background this time also but I love Rose so

Gu Xiang f/f? (your choice of ship)
Gu Xiang is having a miserable day.
She's sitting alone in a terrible restaurant in an obnoxiously big city and she has no idea what to do next. Without Zhuren here to tease she's so bored.
Probably she could have brought Yun Zai or Hong Lu with her, or anyone else from Luo-yi's estate, but she didn't realise how much more boring this restaurant would be than the marketplace. Anyway, Luo-yi has plans for those two, and Gu Xiang is supposed to be focusing on her own assignment: finding a way into Yueyang Pai.
She's been here for days without any luck. Nobody will tell her anything but praise for Yueyang Pai disciples, as if they're so great. What are they trying to sell? Hah. But without a lead, she can't go anywhere. She doesn't know anyone yet, and she especially doesn't understand anyone. They have some really strange manners here.
Like how she tried to order some food today and the guy asked her a bunch of cryptic weird questions about it, looking more confused every time she answered, before she finally convinced him to just give her tea.
Or how when she was building little towers out of her tableware, three separate people sat down opposite her (uninvited!) just to tell her about some bird and what it was doing with its nest.
She tried to be polite, feigning interest and nodding appropriately as she's been taught humans do out in the world, but by the third person it was really grating on her nerves. Especially when they kept looking at her expectantly, clearing their throats, and then darting away without a word. Weirdos.
Maybe it's just this restaurant, but the whole place feels strange, the way people speak so quietly in the corners, or don't say anything at all to one another, moving around one another like the world's most suspicious dance.
Uuuuuugh. Why couldn't Zhuren come up with his own plan to get into that stupid sect?
She knows why. It's that damn Laobinggui. He won't let Zhuren fuck him or whatever, so Zhuren has decided to play games.
That guy gives her the creeps, the way he can go from sleepy and bored and dirty to staring right into her soul and out the other side. Gu Xiang shudders just thinking about him and makes a face down at her tea.
It's not even very good tea.
Slumping forward, she thunks her elbow onto the table and her chin into her hand and stares at the dark liquid swirling in the pretty green cup.
She knows she won't let Zhuren down, not at any cost, but out of spite she thinks very hard about giving up entirely.
And then she hears the commotion.
---
Gu Xiang is having a fantastic day.
She's sitting with her new very good friend in her new favourite restaurant in the best city she's ever visited and her assignment is going perfectly.
"If anything like this happens again, I will tell my father," her new friend had said, scolding the gaggle of Yueyang Pai disciples who tromped up the stairs looking for a fight.
And who is her new friend's father? Gao Chong!
Gu Xiang has to be the luckiest--no, the most skilled ghost ever, to have already landed a friendship with Gao Xiaolian, the sect leader's own daughter.
And all she had to do was enjoy herself! It was fun, teaching those scummy guys a lesson they won't forget in a hurry, and pocketing their money for good measure. She's gotten to beat so few people up since she left Gui Gu.
Right as she sent them packing, she dusted herself off and stood up and there she was: the prettiest woman Gu Xiang's ever seen, standing at the top of the stairs, prettier even than Qianqiao-jie or Luo-yi, her eyes and mouth so round in shock. Probably she's a lot like the girls who come to Gui Gu seeking refuge, who have never seen shitty guys get beat so soundly before. Which...seems a little strange, actually, since she's part of a sect. Well, whatever.
Gao Xiaolian had rushed to make sure Gu Xiang was okay, her hands all over Gu Xiang's arms, her face, turning her this way and that, and Gu Xiang...had allowed it, fascinated. Amused.
Qianqiao-jie would have words for her about letting a stranger touch her so much, but Gu Xiang could just feel the sincerity before she even knew the woman's name. Her fingers had been so delicate against Gu Xiang's skin, her stance so untrained, her voice so worried.
As if Gu Xiang could have gotten seriously injured by a couple of random scumbags! She pointed that out, chin proudly jutting out, and Gao Xiaolian had actually laughed. Bright, soft, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
Then she'd bowed her head and thanked Gu Xiang for upholding justice, and complimented Gu Xiang's shifu for being so righteous.
It took everything in her to accept it with a serious face. She did though; she behaved.
And all that was before she'd even found out who Gao Xiaolian was!
Now she's gone from a beautiful stranger offering compliments and free food to a beautiful ticket directly into the heart of Yueyang Pai.
Between bites of the best dessert Gu Xiang has ever tasted, she cheerfully tells Gao Xiaolian about all the ghosts she fought on the road to Yueyang Pai, enthusiastically describing all the travellers she found dismembered and the bodies she passed, and how her "shifu" had to take a detour along the way just before they got here and won't be joining her in the city for some time.
With each new word, Gao Xiaolian--"Gao-jiejie," Gu Xiang calls her, delighted when she doesn't object--looks more and more horrified.
"You'll absolutely come and stay at Yueyang Pai, A-Xiang!"
"Really?" Gu Xiang asks excitedly, forgetting to play the kinds of games Qianqiao-jie has been coaching her on. Whoops. "I can?"
Gao Xiaolian smiles, as if she's amused or maybe just pleased by the reaction. So Gu Xiang is doing a good job after all. She's probably a natural at it, and Zhuren is just being mean when he says otherwise.
"Of course," Gao Xiaolian says. "Even if I didn't owe A-Xiang for standing up where Yueyang fell down today, you would be invited to stay with me as my friend. How could I let you stay alone?"
She really means it; her eyes are so full, like she cares--not just about duty, but like she cares about Gu Xiang in particular. She has, ever since she looked Gu Xiang over for injuries, ever since she held her head so high and scolded those disciples with such authority in Gu Xiang's defense.
Who knew humans could really be so kind? And so interesting? And so fun to tell stories to?
All Gu Xiang can do for a second is smile back, waves of good feeling bubbling up in her chest almost too sharp to contain.
This assignment is going to be easy.

America Ferrera's breakthrough career
I just want to point out that this woman has delivered 2 cinematic, historical, browsing, impeccable speeches about the frustrations I feel about being a woman. And that actress of course is the one and only America Ferrera herself. Let's talk about her debut role in the movie — Real Women Have Curves. The 2002 independent film based on the play by Josefina Lopez is one of my all-time favourite movies I have watched in my lifetime. And if you somehow know this movie through another suspicious Greta Gerwig connection, I implore you to watch this. The movie was directed by Patricia Cardoso. At the time when it was released, America Ferrera had already filmed another movie but this movie debuted first putting her on the map. She was only 17 years old! Josefina López wrote the play when she was 18 years old. In 2019 it was the first Latina directed film to be included in the National Film Registry at the library of Congress. Taking inspiration from her real life, Josefina wrote Real Women Have Curves about Ana, mostly centered on her relationship with her mother Carmen, played by Lupe Ontiveros. This movie is touted, not only for its representation of women in their real bodies, it also delivered a warm and loving portrayal of Latina families and neighborhoods in Royal Heights and East Los Angeles. Again this isn't a time where Latinas, even today, are represented in a full and nuancent light. So to not only have this Latina family but to have them placed in East Los Angeles which has been criminally and stereotypically portrayed as "dangerous", really meant something and still means something today. And the message of that film being "there's so much more to me than my weight". I think this might serve as a comfort watch for many women around the world.
I don't understand how we were made to believe as children, that America Ferrera was the biggest woman to ever grace our tv screen. The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants is what I call perfection in cinema. If I ever will have a daughter in the future, she is required to watch this movie. Because every little girl needs to understand what sisterhood and what community is. I feel like girls today are not watching sisterhood displayed on television, or even in movies. It's always these toxic relationship, these toxic friendship — not to say that neither of those can't be toxic and bad, because even within this friend group they all have their own issues with each other, with their families etc. But it's not about the problems, it's how they solve them, how they come together. And I feel like this message should be displayed for the young girls today. And I just love how diverse the friend group is, because nowadays it seems like every teenager I see on tv are like the same skinny, white blondes. If you haven't seen this movie make sure to have a box of tissues nearby because it's going to make you cry.
The dark side of pretty privilige is, you don't get to be funny, intelligent, respected — you just get to be pretty. So I've just finished watching Ugly Betty, I fully recommend, and I realised the only female character who's actually respected within this show, is Betty. If you don't already know the concept, Betty gets hired to be the assistant to the chief. Because he sleeps with his assistants, they decide to get him an "ugly" girl so he won't sleep with her. But she's hired for Mode, which is kind of like Vogue/Cosmo type of magazine. So naturally she gets bullied. They treat her like crap because she doesn't look like the ideal Mode girl. But the crazy thing is, since none of the men want to sleep with her, they actually respect her. They start to treat her like a human being with ideas. Then she becomes one of the most liked people by anyone in their team. On top of that, all of these gorgeous women get treated like absolute crap. No one listens to them, their ideas are not heard, and they're not respected. So it leaves a very clear message: wether you are gorgeous or "ugly", misogyny will still hunt you down and it will catch you. For Betty, men don't look twice her way. They treat her bad from the moment they see her. Just because they don't want to sleep with her, they don't find her attractive. For the beautiful women in the show, like Amanda who is painted as the gorgeous blonde, men only want to sleep with her, and they don't see that she's smart. Go back to watch the show and you'll see how horribly the other women get treated compared to Betty (and they have some good cameos in this show).
As we are reaching the end, we can claim America Ferrera as "that girl". The term is, in my opinion, used for anyone who dresses like a fashionista and acts like the queen they are. But it's much more than that. I think, to achieve that title you have to be also impactful and encourage other women to be what they want to be. America really proved it by playing the Emmy Award winning role of Gloria in Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig. I think every cis, heterosexual white male should be forced to sit down and watch this movie. The message behind the Barbie movie is about going from being a girl to being a woman. Barbieland is what our childhood felt like; we were safe, naive, independent and everything seemed perfect. The real world is what womanhood actually is. It's scary, sexist, there's pain and we're faced with so many challenges, while still being held to unrealistic expectations by society. "We mothers stand still, so our daughters can look back to see how far they've become". America Ferrera's speech about how hard it is to be a woman, really affected me and made me tear up in the theather. "It is literally impossible to be a woman. You are so beautiful, and so smart, and it kills me that you don't think you're good enough. Like, we have to always be extraordinary, but somehow we're always doing it wrong. You have to be thin, but not too thin. And you can never say you want to be thin. You have to say you want to be healthy, but also you have to be thin. You have to have money, but you can't ask for money because that's crass. You have to be a boss, but you can't be mean. You have to lead, but you can't squash other people's ideas. You're supposed to love being a mother, but don't talk about your kids all the damn time. You have to be a career woman but also always be looking out for other people. You have to answer for men's bad behavior, which is insane, but if you point that out, you're accused of complaining. You're supposed to stay pretty for men, but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other women because you're supposed to be a part of the sisterhood." America Ferrera the woman you are, thank you so much for helping me and other women to believe in theirselves. Happy international women's day! <3

Hi I saw your asks open how about Spencer Reid off work at the bar with the whole team when he notices a man at the bar with aggressive movements tword the woman he's with when he slaps her he can't help but step in surprisingly faster than Morgan.(I know in has violence against women that could be a trigger for some people)
As I said, I don't think I can write whole fics yet, so here is how I think he situation would go down!! (I might elaborate on this later once I'm more confident in my writing style, though, as I like this idea!!)
I think because of spencer being the kind of lanky, dorky kind of guy he is, it wouldn't devolve into a full fight, that is, unless the guy swung at him first.
Obviously, with fbi training, he isn't totally helpless when it comes to being attacked or he wouldn't be allowed in the field. I think he just lacks the self-confidence to actually get into an actual physical fight. Spencer believes that his brain is his biggest weapon. Therefore, he would probably try to argue/reason with the guy.
I also just think spencer doesn't like fights. He'd prefer to avoid them and stick to verbal arguments as that's where his strong suit is. Not to mention, he thinks their showy and unnecessarily violent and just a way for men to prove their masculinity, which he doesn't really care about anyways.
So I think if that happened, spencer would just try to remove reader from the situation. He'd quickly realise that he couldn't argue with someone that drunk and just try to get her away from the guy that attacked her.
Once they're both out of harms way, he'd sit reader down, check her over for any serious injuries, generally just make sure she's okay. Once he's completely sure that she won't need any medical attention, he'd awkwardly pull her into his chest, patting her on the back.
Despite his usual avoidance to physical touch, I don't think he'd mind this. She's his friend, after all. He cares about her. He'd insist on taking her home, making sure she gets there safely.
Unlike some guys, there wouldn't be any ulterior motive behind this. He just wanted her to be safe and comfortable. If she wanted him to just walk her to her doorstep and leave, he would. If she wanted him to stay, though.. he wouldn't exactly be opposed.
They'd settle down of the couch in her living room, spencer talking about some odd thing like usual. He'd stay for as long or as little as she wants because at hear apencer is just a sweet man who cares deeply for the people he loves!!
Sorry if this wasn't what you pictured !! This is just how my brain interpreted it, but if you pictured something different or you're unhappy with it, please send in another req with more specific details, and I'd be happy to do so!!

Hi Lemon! I know you’re enjoying your BG3 right now so no rush, but I’ve been thinking of some F+B lore combined with GRRM’s infamous post about the show, and I’m a bit confused. He claims that the show could replace Maelor with Jaehaera in his death scene in order to give Helaena the grief she needs to meet her suicide, but that wouldn’t work because “Jaehaera has a huge role to play as Aegon's next heir.” It was my understanding that she was never named Aegon’s heir, and was in fact considered “simple” (likely Westeros’ version of mentally challenged) as a way to avoid having Aegon name her in the first place. But this seems not the case? Did I misunderstand, or is this more him tearing into the show and maybe fudging some details?
My other issue (I don’t blame him for being mad of course, did we not all have problems with HOTD S2 lololol) is he’s also fixated on Maelor as the reason for Helaena’s death in the first place, yet we’re given a few suggestions for her suicide, and the maesters even question why she would kill herself now when Daeron is seemingly very close to recovering KL for the Greens. I assumed it was a combination of many things; she has been mad with grief since Jaehaerys’ death, her daughter is long gone, her husband gravely injured and also unknown to her, and she is a prisoner in her castle. Finding out about Maelor’s death would likely have been the final straw, but again, it’s not presented as the sole reasoning here? Idk maybe that is just me nitpicking! I’m glad he laid into the show, but having spent a while discussing F+B with friends, it’s always funny to me when he comes out with “actually this was what happened.” Okay, you didn’t write it that way 😂
Hope things are well with you!
Hi there! I hope the same for you! <3
So, I definitely think that GRRM went on and on about Maelor in his post because that was the tamest aspect he could criticise without burning bridges with the show executives. And perhaps that is why it comes out like Maelor is more important than he truly is in the books. That post was more of a strategy push than anything, he wanted to publicly show he was REALLY upset and that he was ready to air his concerns publicly if they don't stop compromising the integrity of the story.
So, in that regard, the heart of the issue is that, in the show, they've basically eliminated any reason for Helaena's suicide. She was sad all of 10 minutes about Jaehaerys, is over it already in the S2 finale, doesn't give a shit about her brother's impending doom, doesn't give a shit about her brother-husband's condition. What is there to be sad about? Despairing enough so that she'd fling herself out of the window? Unless they'll make Rhaenyra herself push her (they won't) or it's going to be framed as another fucking accident, there's no way to explain her death. So it's easy and safe for him to keep on about Maelor, since this is a problem anyone can understand, no matter which side of the team wars they're on.
Coming back to Jaehaera, I've always maintained that there is no reason to give her a learning disability unless GRRM never meant for her to be considered as a proper inheritor in the first place. Even if Aegon II had been the world's most feminist dad, he couldn't have passed the throne to her, because she wouldn't have had the capacity for rule. So, if GRRM intended for Aegon to truly grapple with this issue of wanting his line to continue but only having a daughter and how to present this as a solution when he just deposed another woman, then he wouldn't have made Jaehaera "simple" and disqualified her from the start.
So, maybe he realised that and regrets it? Maybe FB was a way bigger volume with many more details that explained all this but they had to be cut for length? And Jaehaera's situation was one of those sections that got the axe?
If GRRM is reading my blog and needs reasons to justify himself rhetorically (LOL), I can provide one for free: IMO, if you remove her being condition and deem it untrue gossip (let's say), Jaehaera being named Aegon's heir was never an issue, because it respects Andal Law. It doesn't even make the greens hypocritical or scheming villains for deposing Rhaenyra. As per Andal Law, Aegon is the elder son of Viserys II, so he should inherit, and Jaehaera is his only living child, so she should inherit after him. A son comes before a daughter and a daughter comes before an uncle (or a nephew). Easy!
it’s always funny to me when he comes out with “actually this was what happened.” Okay, you didn’t write it that way 😂
This is true enough. :)) I think that, for all this talk of how interesting it is to write backstory like a history book and present various possible versions (which it is!), a writer MUST surely "know" deep within his heart of hearts which of those he intended to be true and which not. Come on. :)) At least for SOME things.

So I've finally finished listening to Echoes (yes I had this boxset preordered since it was announced, and yes I was incredibly slow to listen to it) and how do Liv/Helen shippers keep winning even when we've already lost (coz Liv returning to Tania at the end of Stranded)??
From episode 2: "Helen - she's my...she's everything I have left"???? I screamed??
Episode 3 where Helen went and got Liv's stuff from the TARDIS but also got her a book in case she can't sleep and a bottle of water and an apple???
Every boxset since Stranded has had Liv be ferally gay over Helen (and has obviously confirmed our favourite lesbian is in fact a lesbian ofc)
And I'm so confused by what Big Finish is doing playing with our hearts like this - but I will also gleefully, and gayfully accept whatever Liv/Helen we can get. Thoughts?
Honestly, I have no idea what Big Finish are thinking other than
Who knows, maybe they have realised that Liv/Helen sells??? And that they made a mistake with the Stranded ending??
But seriously... I hope there is a point to it all. It really does feel like they're doing it on purpose, it's SO SHIPPY! Albie's Angels was just... HELEN CHENKA?! Come on. And you're so right. How easy would it have been to have Liv say "Helen is my best friend!". Having her break off mid-sentence is a conscious choice and you can't tell me otherwise. And that scene where Helen brings Liv all that stuff and then offers to go back? ADORABLE. They're everything.
Now the way I see it... For the ending of Stranded to make sense, it can only be one of two things really. Either Liv and Helen get together and Helen dies... and Liv returns to Tania cause she can't face being with the Doctor without Helen and she tries to bury her grief that way. It would be horrible and unfair, but it would make at least a little bit of sense, because why else would Liv Chenka, brilliant med-tech from the 30th century, want to be in 21st century London where she will be bored out of her mind and never see her sister again?? It just doesn't make sense for her character unless something fundamentally changed her like the death of the woman she loved. BUT LET'S NOT THINK LIKE THAT OR I'LL CRY.
The other option, and I'll hold on to this, is that maybe they all get a happy ending and there are two Livs somehow. We already know from the end of The Robots that there is a Liv duplicate out there. While that duplicate would only have the memories of up to Escape From Kaldor, that doesn't mean that something like that couldn't happen again. This is Doctor Who after all! Think of Rose getting her personal Doctor. Maybe they send a duplicate back to Tania so she gets to be happy too (and the Stranded ending that BF may have realised was silly will still work) and Liv and Helen stay together.
Honestly, who knows! But I will also hang on every scrap BF throw us. The Liv/Helen ship is sailing strong as ever and I think BF may have noticed and decided to cater to it.
I imagine it will be a while for another set for them (though I am curious as to Hattie's role in the Time War one, that will be interesting!) and I don't know if we will ever get a resolution for them, but in the meantime, I say let's be vocal about the ship on socials, hoping BF continue to take notice and give us everything we want. It seems to be working at the moment :D
