My ArtvsArtist of 2023 :D
I didn't do one last year because i felt like i did very little, beside being quite depressed and in a general low stage of my life.
This year tho, has been really a different story: I really missed drawing like this, so often, so energically, full of passion and, honestly, pride for my results. I'm very happy and I truly hope to continue this path.
A really, really big thanks also to all of you. I felt part of something beautiful and the love I received was almost blinding, it made me go on and helped me truly a lot.
Thank you, y'all.
And always Love&Peace!!!

thinking about how you could combine the “ghosts fight socially” and “strongest ghosts make the rules” with the “Danny is a baby ghost and needs a ghostly guardian/parent” and I have decided that it’s “if you can defeat and then keep the baby contained then it is now yours” and thats why Danny’s experiences with ghosts are Like That

Something I really appreciate about TOA that I don’t see get talked about much is that I never get the sense that Apollo finds Lester ugly.
For all that he complains about the body he’s stuck in, I never got the feeling that it came from a distaste for Lester himself. When he sees Lester’s traits reflected in others, like Meg being chunky, he is completely unaffected by it. Finds it charming, even. (In fact, the only times I can remember him having Opinions about how someone looks is when they’ve chosen something about their appearance that he either approves or disapproves of, like a tacky jacket/hair cut or when he finds someone attractive. The only time I can remember him calling anybody ugly was when he pointed out that Dionysus was choosing to look as ugly as possible to piss of Zeus, which is a statement of fact and doesn’t necessarily mean he thinks that Dionysus’ form is actually ugly. He makes no mention of finding it so before or after that line. It’s a statement of fact that Dionysus is choosing a form that either he or Zeus finds ugly to piss of their dad.)
The thing about Lester is that he is so devastatingly mortal. He has flab and acne and no upper body strength and his voice squeaks when he’s nervous and he sweats a lot and he has a silly name and messy, curly hair that’s impossible to tame. He is the Most Teenager To Ever. There is no godly blood running through his veins, no powers he can call upon. If Apollo were to run into him in the street, I don’t think he’d pay him much mind. He’d probably just think, “sweet kid”, and move on. If he got to know him, I think Apollo would adore him because that’s just who rrverse!Apollo is. He loves mortals despite himself, flaws and all. He’d argue against anything bad Lester had to say about his own appearance and mean every word.
The problem is that it’s Apollo in this body. Apollo, The Golden Child, the perfect son, a God. His distaste for this body is because Lester is so devastatingly mortal and imperfect. Apollo has to be perfect, he has to be shiny and pretty and strong because he has nothing else to offer otherwise.
And.. I dunno, there’s something about Apollo hating the things that draw him to others when it’s him. The flaws that he tears apart in himself he finds endlessly charming on others, or he thinks that they have better reasons for why they have them, or he thinks they have enough positive traits to counteract them. The positive things that he hides deep enough that even the reader can’t see right away, like his kindness and genuine desire to understand and connect with everyone around him, that he’s shocked to find directed at him in turn.
That Apollo accepting himself and reclaiming his personhood leads to him being comfortable with being Lester, imperfect and mortal as he is. That he takes that imperfection back with him to Olympus… I dunno man I’m Emotional. Also it’s just plain nice that Lester is never treated as ugly for looking like a normal ass teenager, even by the guy stuck in this body. That’s neat.
Or maybe I’m just rambling and this means nothing at all and I’m reading too far into Blorbo from my books.

Thinking about Jon and Martin and “I’d understand if you hate me right now.” and “What? No! Martin, I love you.”
Martin who has never known conflict and disagreement without resentment. Who’s mother looked at him only in disdain and hatred. Who’s father left when he was nine. Martin who is so sure that the man he loves would flip the tables 360 over an argument. Martin who definitely has abandonment issues that we don’t talk about enough.
Jon who doesn’t tell people how he feels. Who half the time doesn’t even know how he feels. Who grew up building walls and feigning skepticism. Jon who only ever said the words “I love you” to Martin and his cat (which, mind you, is very real of him). Jon who has spent years hiding from monsters and making decisions he never wanted to have to make, watching those he loved face the consequences beside him.
And how in the end, their love for one another juxtaposes many of the actions they perform on their own. They love each other so much that it changes their narrative. And in the end (just as they confessed to one another) that’s it. That’s the core of it. Their love.
They literally invented romance your honor. I hate them so much.

Wth I've never heard of jiankong- I thought erlang burned down flowerfruit mountain and killed a bunch of wukongs monkies??
When you look at the ship at surface level, yeah, I guess it seems pretty weird.
While it is true that Erlang did that, it's not like he did that based on his own beliefs and intentions. It was from orders by the Jade Emperor, who saw this as a 'justifiable act' given how much disorder Wukong had caused up till this point. However, Erlang is known to not... how do I say it? He's more or less more inclined than other immortals and deities to not carry out the Emperor's orders.
In this case, not all of the monkies were killed and burned. Some, many actually, were spared. It's up for interpretation, but most people believe that Erlang didn't see the slaughter of the monkies on Flower Fruit Mountain as an equal response towards what Wukong had done. Whether or not you see this as justification for Erlang still burning the mountain in the first place is up to you.
Besides, I wouldn't let "burning monkies" be the one thing that defines Erlang's relationship with Wukong XDDD. There's more to it than that. Like how they both immediately locked in when facing each other in battle and could match each other really well, and, how they were both desperate to fight someone who could actually challenge them and they found that in each other.
Wukong though, funnily enough, forgives Erlang (or really, puts the whole incident aside) because he actually respects the guy a lot XDDD. In one of the later chapters of JTTW he actually asks Erlang (he was the area, passing though) to help him defeat the Dragon King and the Nine-Headed Beast (Ch. 63). They are sworn brothers by this point, and, it's clear that they've come to some sort of agreement that they are on much better terms now. Erlang doesn't even hesitate to help Wukong here, which is something I've always found a little funny. They bros now, or gay. Who knows, hah!
But hey, would a ship be interesting if there wasn't a weird, convoluted, backstory behind it?

Headcannon that Chips mind has basically attuned to the bandanna of disguise and now his appearance reflect how he’s feeling. And ever since his death, he’s had that hole in his chest. as much as he want to look normal and alive again, he can only get rid of the hole in his chest by taking the bandanna off

Y'know Crocodile's Mushroom Lore kinda makes sense though, like he seems like the kind of person who does appreciate some peace and quiet, having time to himself to relax and enjoy some fresh air (something that would be easy to achieve by just going on a walk in a forest), but also, what is mushroom foraging if not a low-level type of treasure hunting (the "treasure" isn't particularly valuable, but it's edible so it's rewarding in its own right); an oddly fitting hobby for a pirate

Scourge's shortcomings are intentional.
This bumbling, overlooked third-in-command is a very intentional character in some respects- he is the way that he is for a reason.
One interesting thing I think about is the difference between Cyclonus and Scourge’s loyalties and purposes given by Unicron. I mean, their places in the world are very clear- Unicron created the leader, Galvatron, the warrior, Cyclonus, and the hunter, Scourge.
For Cyclonus, it is clear to see why he is loyal- he was built to be the sword to which the king rules over his army, so he must be a good liaison between the troops and their leader and an effective way of carrying out his leader's will. (ex. he shuttles around Galvatron in his alt mode to compensate for his leader's inability to fly, since Galvatron's alt is a cannon, a thing solely meant to have destructive power and ONLY destructive power).
However, Scourge is not a warrior, but a hunter. He serves a very different purpose to Galvatron, more akin to a hunting dog than a sword. He was made to seek and destroy, to track prey and eliminate it with his wolf-pack of Sweeps and exceptional sensors and tracking abilities. A hunter must have far different traits than a warrior.
For one, they must be independent. Bureaucracy is slow, and if a hunter waits for orders on how to approach and exterminate a target, they lose their edge in the hunt. Scourge needs to be able to think for himself in some capacity to make decisions on the fly and ultimately get the job done. Because who cares how the job gets done, as long as it does?
Secondly, they must be confident in their abilities- to be confident is to take risks, knowing that they are secure in judging the situation. And risks, while rash, can be the difference between success and failure in a fight, in a battle, in all aspects of life- high risk, high reward, as they say. Scourge needs to be overconfident, even arrogant, to be able to make those kinds of calls, even if those calls are bad and they backfire.
Which brings me to the last point- cowardice. While seen as a weak and undesirable trait, it excels in one area that is extremely important to the hunter- keeping themselves alive. Cowardice means retreat, regrouping with the pack, and living to try again another day. It is the failsafe for all the failed risks that Scourge takes and it allows him to be persistent, to try other ways at attacking the problem. Cowardice is a strong way to put it, really- one might call it strategy. But of course, in the words of Galvatron himself- "strategy is for cowards!"
All of these traits are necessary in a hunter, which neither the mad leader nor his sword can understand- for that is an entirely different discipline of service that neither of them were created for.
