I've decided to sow some chaos in my life today
Here are the moodboards for all the AUs that live rent-free in my mind (and nowhere else), and I'd LOVE to talk about them!

Obi-wan Kenobi
Send Me a Character Ask Game
First impression: Oh, look! A cool old wizard guy who cracks jokes and does really neat shit with a glowing sword! :D
Impression now: This is the galaxy's most traumatized sad man to ever sad and holy fucking shit he did not deserve to have ANY of this to happen to him, omfg.
Also, he's hilarious as fuck and I wish more people realized what a snarky bitch he actually is XD
Favorite moment: Fuck, this is difficult. There's too many moments.
I'm sure I'll think of more later, but a moment that's coming to my mind right now is when he kept trolling Maul while he was ACTIVELY TRYING TO KILL HIM XD
And basically every moment he's teasing Anakin. Obi-wan refuses to pass up any opportunity to be funny as shit pffttt
Idea for a story: The amount of Obi-wan centric WIPS I have, dear fucking god. Will they ever see the light of day? Who fucking knows. But yeah a good portion of my daily brain activity goes to rotating this guy in my mind like a microwave.
Favorite relationship: The Disaster Trio will forever hold a place in my heart. Man, they make me mentally ill.
Oh, and of course Codywan. I will always be a sucker for a leader and their right hand dynamic. These two drive me fucking bonkers, you don't understand. Anyway, I'm gonna go fucking cry now.
Favorite headcanon: Too fucking many to count. I'll just say I think it's hilarious the fandom decided Stewjon (Obi-wan's home planet) is Space Scotland, though. I have a WIP somewhere with that premise, I think.
I do like the headcanon that he's an avid tea drinker. Idk why, it just makes sense to me. That and that he's fluent in Mando'a/Mandalorian culture for obvious reasons :3c
I'm also a sucker for headcanons/AUs where Obi-Wan takes on Cal Kestis as a padawan. I just need the only two red heads in the entirety of SW to stick together XD

How many wips do you have currently?
let's say … three? docs are entitled: renaissance indulgence ch 5, sublimation, and body talk. (guess which one is like the sun lolol)
Which one are you finding the hardest to finish?
all of them? lol. sublimation is stalled because i successfully sublimated my troubles into the draft so far and now i don't really care, at the moment, to finish resolving the story. body talk is stalled because idk man i gotta be in a certain mood to write in a werewolf-esque a/b/o universe. renaissance indulgence is not necessarily stalled but it is slow going because god won't let me settle for a normal word count
What does it usually look like when inspiration strikes for you?
usually starts with "oh my god what IF —" and then a scramble for something, anything to write down the thing my brain just spontaneously birthed. alternate option, but far less frequently occurring: letting my mind wander on long airplane flights. do i look like im zoned the fuck out staring at the seat back in front of me? shhh. she's rotating blorbos in her head
Do you curate playlists for each fic or is your process different?
long ago i'd usually inadvertently associate a song w/ a fic (the reason why so many fic titles are modified song lyrics) but now i work on such fat ass stories that by the time i've completed a story (or a chapter) i've gone through at least 10 different album/genre phases
Do you go balls to the wall and write as you go or are you more organized?
organized chaos! there's a general map, and typically a final destination as well, but i let myself consider detours
tagging the beautiful bitch reading this post <3 (aka im so sorry, i'm so offline idek who's still online atm)

Fic Writer 20 Questions
@blirzy thank you for the tag~ I think I've done this before but eh, can always do it again!
1.) How many works do you have on ao3? 65! I'm hoping to post at least 3-4 fics more before the year ends
2.) What’s your ao3 word count? 406,207 (only???)
3.) What fandoms do you write for? Okay, here's the thing. When I'm in a fandom, I mostly write for that fandom alone. Not to other fandoms. First it was Naruto (good ol' J & Fanfiction.net), then it was Transformers (with a dash of Shippu! Iron Leaguer) and now it's Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
I was most productive with the first and last fandom.
4.) What are your top five fics by kudos? Lol, I already know what #1 is
The Most Unexpected Courting (Transformers but with details from several 'verses, Sunstreaker/Ratchet/Sideswipe)
suffer in pleasure, forever and ever (SW: The Clone Wars, rotating between 4 solid ships and 1 fluid ship)
30 Days of Jazz and Prowl (Transformers, what is says in the tin)
Cake Galore (SW: The Clone Wars, Fives/numerous clones)
31 Days of Clone Wars Fictober (SW: The Clone Wars, numerous ships)
5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?! I do! At one point when didn't really post anything, I didn't and it bothers me now a bit.
6.) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? ... idk? Have I written angsty stuff? I think I have? EDIT: NO WAIT I HAVE! IN MY LATEST MERMAY! There was a few angsty chapters there, one with ended with a dead character!
7.) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Nearly all of my fics have happy endings because I don't like angst unless there's a happy ending in sight in the tags.
8.) Do you get hate on fics? Nope. Don't think I ever have.
9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind? Okay, see, this question here is the one that reminded me that I've done this before.
The short answer to this question is yes, I write smut. A lot of smut. Maybe a little too much smut. But I like to think that I write happy smut, not sad smut. Also, I'm very vanilla kind of smut writer.
10.) Do you write cross overs? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Does Cody getting railed by a droid called Meister-who's-definitely-not-Jazz count as a cross-over?
11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen? Why would anyone want to steal my fic? While these days I've got a proofreader (as I did back in my TF & IL days, thank you @gaogaigar-the-king ) I know more than a few of them should be proofread again and so on. My fics are good, but they aren't that good.
12.) Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I know of.
13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No, not really. I've done fic & art collab before but wouldn't mind trying my hand with cowriting if anyone were interested.
14.) What’s your all time favourite ship? ... OK, if we go with the true origin OP, it's Hatake Kakashi/Umino Iruka (Naruto) but! if I have to name my favorite character that I enjoyed shipping with pretty much anyone, that would be Ratchet (Transformers). Ratchet/ironhide, Ratchet/Wheeljack, Ratchet/Twins, Ratchet/Optimus just to name a few.
15.) What’s a WIP you’d like to finish, but doubt you ever will? That godsdamned fantasy AU...
16.) What are your writing strengths? I didn't know this before but apparently I have a habit where a short fic starts in one way but ends in a completely different but surprising way. Often seen in fics I write as replies to prompts here in Tumblr.
17.) What are your writing weaknesses? This is not my grammar. These are not my prepositions. My fic tag's called "valkeakuulas writes AKA butchers English grammar".
And that I write mainly one shots with no true plot. They be so thin, not a layer in sight. 😭
18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I like dropping Finnish words in my current fics as names and whatnots. I used to drop Japanese words when wrote KakaIru (yes, I was one of those writers)
But a whole dialogue? Uncertain.
19.) First fandom you wrote for? A true Narutard reporting for duty.
Tumblr media
20.) Favourite fic you’ve ever written? I can't really say.
Nearly all the fics I've written are favorite of mine on some levels. Sure, there are ones I'd like to rewrite in some parts but ultimate favorite? I've got no memory what answered here the last time but think it was something similar.

🌹, ❤️, 🍁 please? :D
🌹 What is your favorite kind of fan fiction to write?
I love writing angst 🙈 ohhh, I don’t know what that says about me, but I love writing angst that maybe turns to smut and also hurt/comfort fics!! But honestly, as cheesy as it is, I really, truly love just breaking something down and delving into the emotion of it all. If that makes any sense. I prefer writing emotion over action/scenic description. But a lot of people probably think that my fics are too rambly because of that and I am so sorry 🙈
❤️ Who is your favorite character to write?
Ohhh you would ask me this right as I’m starting to wiggle into a new character’s brain 🙈 I think overall, Wilhemina Venable or Billie Dean Howard. But I have a few new things in my drafts and when I say that I am absolutely head over heels for these characters 👀 @welshdragonrawr knows because she has to listen to me scream about them incessantly (and then complain that I’m not writing them well enough 🙈)
🍁 How is your current WIP going, and can we have a sneak peek?
Firstly, I think we should correct this to WIPssss, because there are so many of them I’ve lost count. I rotate through them like one of those little spinny trays that you put in the middle of the table, so I can just sift through and pick out the one I’m in the mood to toy with that day and then put it back and start again 🙈 A few of them are almost finished, though!! Including the “does your mother know” Billie fic 🙈 So here, have a teeny piece that’s probably not going to make a lot of sense out of context:
“Will you take me home, Billie…?”
The question was soft, and for a second you forgot that you hadn’t simply thought it. But then Billie was nodding with a small “of course, honey” and wrapping her arm around your waist as she led you away from the building and to the parking lot.
You hated that she was touching you like this, hand firm and warm and steadying against you. You hated that you loved it, heat threading out from her fingers and warming you somewhere deep inside. Because this was so domestic, and it seemed so natural, and somehow all fear of consequences flew out the window because you wanted this for the rest of your life, no matter what.
You arrived at Billie’s car too soon, and before you knew it she had opened the door for you and offered you a hand as you slid into the passenger seat. And then the door closed and you were alone, the smell of ash and sage filling your lungs as Billie crossed to the driver’s side of the car. You only had a split second to think that you wanted to be wrapped in this smell forever, that it smelled warm and deep and like coming home, before Billie opened the door and started the car. And then somehow you were halfway home and neither of you had spoken two words to the other.
Billie drove with her hand on the gearshift. You noted it, noted the way her acrylics tapped against the metal and the way her thumb smoothed down against the leather. The thought that you wanted to hold her hand flitted through your mind, and you almost bent to it, but then—
“I’m sorry.”
Billie’s voice startled you against the silence of the car, and you whipped your head up to look at her.
“No no, Billie. Why are you apologizing? Please, if anything, I should be the one—“
Her hand left the gearshift then, finger waving absently as she flicked at her turn signal and slowed the car.
“It was my fault. I took it too far.”
“No, you didn’t,” you countered, trying to catch her eye as she took the turn. It was only then that you realized you were driving down your street, Billie’s house just a few hundred feet ahead.
Billie hummed, a dismissive sound, and something in you hardened because no. She didn’t get to shut you out like this. You weren’t a child, and you were fully capable of discussing this with her.
“Billie, stop the car.”
“What?”
“I said stop the car.”

If I may:
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
🧐 Do you spend much time researching for your stories?
🎯 Have any of your readers accurately guessed major plot points? Care to share which? (nb not asking for spoilers!)
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
cheers!
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
Things that turn up in a lot of my stories across fandoms/pairings/ships and gen, whether I mean them to or not!
The passage of time and how people relate to history, their own and other people’s.
Duty and what it means: whether that’s a duty to specific others, or your people more generally, or to yourself, or duty in the form of some kind of promise or oath
Long-term impacts of war
The importance of story and narrative and whether it’s a good idea to present your own experience/what you want it to be as a story
(since I had kids myself) More than I thought I’d ever include about parenting!
🧐 Do you spend much time researching for your stories?
I think I do when it feels like worldbuilding, and I don’t when it feels like checking for accuracy. And those can overlap - I have spent a lot of time measuring out Middle-earth distances to work out how long it would take people to get from A to B via various methods of transport, but what interests me about it is whether there’s a road and if so who built the road, what sort of state of repair is it in at this point, why; or like in the most recent chapter of Shadow-Bride where there’s a voyage by ship but it takes longer because they have to cling to the coast, because Pelargir at this point isn’t really seafaring.
A lot of my Babylon 5 WIP is set on a war cruiser spaceship, and for that one I did a lot of mental plotting out to think what kind of size crew it would have (it’s a really big ship! but it’s also not wartime and they have very advanced tech so would it need that many people?) and I looked a lot into things like what crew rotations and staffing and specialisations and training would be on a contemporary aircraft carrier or a submarine, etc., to build off for that. But it’s mostly to give depth and colour to a world I want to tell stories within, which for that fic is a lot about how the people who fought in the war are dealing/not dealing with peace; so I’m not set on accuracy as much as consistency.
Or for Tolkien: I tried really hard to get Quenya and Sindarin right for my Galadriel/Celeborn fic ‘Softest of Tongues’ because it’s about language and translation and telling stories through that. But when it comes to things like which First Age elf was born when, I’ll just handwave a lot of it as “eh it’s probably somewhere different in HoME anyway” if I check and it’s not convenient.
🎯 Have any of your readers accurately guessed major plot points? Care to share which? (nb not asking for spoilers!)
yes :)
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
Most of the time I have an ending in mind before I start - I find it really hard to begin a story without - but for a one-shot it’s sometimes very roughly sketched. For longer WIPs I do have the general outlines planned in advance and then let the story go where it wants in the middle.
Shadow-Bride is the most outlining I’ve ever done because of the structure it has with the present-tense bit as a framing device, so with that one I know exactly where it’s going and how it will end and what the epigraph is for the final chapter etc etc. It has expanded a LOT within that outline over time though (I think my initial chapter count was 9? and then 12? hahahaaaaaa). This does mean that when I get stuck in a scene I sometimes jump ahead a bit and write something from a chapter yet to come - I have lots of Elrond scenes in draft at the moment because I like writing him so much!

the magician, the tower, and death for whichever character you most wanna talk about rn :3c
Questions from this ask game ~ Thank you :D
Choices, choices ! Considering the questions... and the fact that I'm supposed to rotate a specific WIP in my mind right now... I'm going to ignore all of my responsibilities and talk about Maran <3
The Magician : How does your character unleash their creativity or resourcefulness ?
He has a few creative hobbies ! Embroidery is a big one, when he gets bored he'll just grab a garment he has and add decorative stitches all around.
The other one is maybe less of a hobby and more his specialty - magical constructs. Engineering a robot powered by magic is always a challenge, and he's incredible at it. Back when he could work with other people, he and his construct making club created an entire phoenix that could dance and breathe fire as animation for a festival. And not a small one either, one that was taller than about two people standing on each other's shoulder. There's a lot of things that go into making a construct, from making sure it won't break by moving around to carving magical runes into the parts, and if you really want to make beautiful constructs on top of just useful or fun ones, you're basically also a jeweler. It's fun !
The Tower : When has your character lost an ideal or relationship ?
Hahahaha ooooh boy.
You know, between the death of his entire family, or the murder of his husband, I'm not sure which one I should choose to answer this question. Both of these have shaped him as a person.
Losing his entire family also made him lose all ideals pertaining to trying to be kind, for a long while. It was vengeance, vengeance, vengeance.
Still is, but now he's a little... calmer about it. Kind to people who weren't a part of this fucking disaster.
Death : When has your character had to let go of something in their life ?
Right now he's trying to specifically let go of the idea called "murdering the dude who destroyed my entire family" to replace it by "make the life of the dude who destroyed my entire family as unbearable as possible", solely because he does realize that it would put him in a very precarious position politically and also with his boyfriend who's having trouble stomaching the idea of "someone in my family will get murdered". (although i think abron would get onboard with the idea VERY quickly if he actually saw keryth try anything.)
Besides that, does letting go of the idea "I'll be happy again someday" after his husband died count ?

wip snippet game
Rules: "post the names of all the files in your WIP folder regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it! And then tag people! This isn’t just for writing either. Sketch titles? Comics? DnD campaigns? If you have an unfinished project, it counts!"
Thank you for the tag @paladinbaby ! Tbh this is a bit tricky for me because, especially with art, I tend to not give files in my art program names until I'm done/close to done with them, but I decided to just name them arbitrarily right this moment for the purposes of the list below lol. (I am also including some very old stuff that I may or may not ever pick up again, for funzies.)

Gascon's Iron Falcons backstory - WIP
My headcanon for who is secretly financing Gascon's Iron Falcons (Gwent lore), from a WIP that's diverging from one of the Witcher 3 canon endings for Emhyr.
Emhyr has hired a new bodyguard to protect him from court assassins and is forging new alliances. Letho POV.
---
“Your majesty,” Gascon said, perfectly proper, yet somehow managing to put no deference behind the formal address, so that it sounded like he was calling out to a friend over drinks in a tavern.
“Duke,” Emhyr answered in the same tone. “I have a proposal for you.”
“Oh?”
“I’m sure you’re aware of Radovid’s expanding conquests, and his policy on mages and anyone he deems undesirable in his conquered lands. I wish to break his influence over the North. I believe your queen would agree with me in this goal.”
“Maybe. I don’t speak for her though. And I don’t think she’s looking to start a war, or get involved in one.”
“It’s not my aim to drag her into one. Yet, one can influence a war through other means. Not every conflict need be declared, and subterfuge can be more effective than open battle.”
Gascon’s eyes sparkled with interest. “Do go on, please,” he said.
“Nilfgaard’s troops are disciplined, trained, and well-equipped. They’d win the day easily in conventional battle. But they are still susceptible to losses to intermittent stealth raids, and that is the strategy Radovid is pursuing. What I need is a smaller force that uses cunning rather than strength, that can move quickly, strike in unexpected places, and pick off enemies with few losses. I understand such a fighting style is your former specialty.”
Gascon actually grinned at that for a moment, but then composed himself and said in a steady voice: “My life is different now. I ‘ave lands, and a responsibility to th’ people who live on them—”
“Which could be fulfilled by a skilled administrator in your absence,” Emhyr said.
Gascon shrugged. “Maybe I like comfortable living. It’s a nice change, sleeping in an actual bed, with a roof above, not worrying about being killed every day.”
“Of course,” Emhyr granted knowingly. “And counting sheep, planning crop rotations, and judging cases of chicken theft is the quiet existence you’ve always wanted.”
“Hah!” Gascon didn’t even bother to hide his laugh. “Does he read minds, like sorcerers?” he asked, turning to Letho.
“Been wonderin’ about that too.”
“I want to pick my own men,” Gascon said to Emhyr, his voice growing serious. “And my methods. Not gonna run around on an imperial leash.”
“Of course,” Emhyr said, not even needing to think about it. “If I meant to manage every detail of the mission, there’d have been plenty of suitable candidates for the role without resorting to Rivian nobility.”
“I’m not agreeing yet. Not without asking Meve.”
“Naturally. Just try not to spread the news through the entire Lyrian court, if you will.”
“I’ll tell only her. And her most trusted general,” Gascon added after a moment’s thought. “Everyone else will just think I vanished into the sunset in search of adventure.”
“And that will hold water?”
“Yes—yes I think it will. I have a…certain reputation among nobility back home.” The Duke of Scala smirked as if he was particularly proud of this fact.
“All right. I shall await your response.” Emhyr frowned in thought. “I have one request. No dog metaphors for your armed contingent, this time. One must maintain some minimal level of decorum.”
“Fair, fair. How ‘bout the—hawks, is it, to match your bird?” Gascon nodded in the direction of the statue on Emhyr’s desk.
“It’s a falcon,” Emhyr said flatly, with a subtle put-upon look that would have been a full eye roll in anyone else.
“Right.” Gascon walked over and rapped on the statue lightly. “Solid metal, huh?”
“The iron falcon,” Letho observed. Emhyr raised an eyebrow, and Letho shrugged. “Has a certain ring to it, gotta admit.”
“Iron Falcons, I Iike that.” Gascon beamed. And then he added, not reassuringly: “Just wait ‘till you see the uniforms I’ll pick for ‘em!”

Fic Questions
tagged by @the-lincyclopedia thank you!! (fun game: watch my writing get progressively less formal as the post continues. by the end it’s like what is capitalization)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
77!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
434,378 as of this week but it does go up quite regularly
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Okay so in terms of what’s on my AO3, I have Check Please, All For the Game, Sharp Zero, HP, and Miraculous Ladybug. I also have The Forbidden LOTR and PJO Fanfiction (as in, I’ve written it, but it’s never seeing the light of day)
(technically there is a PJO fic out there that has seen the light of day but I orphaned it because I was tired of getting comments asking about when it would be updated)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
and then i met you (and the whole world changed)
for the better
Knew It Was You
come home (to you, to us)
sin bin schematics
All of these are Check Please and all of them except Knew It Was You are part of my Zimbits Airport AU!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! It’s actually a very recent thing that I’ve started not responding to literally every single comment. Mainly I respond because I love talking about my writing so I am going to seize that opportunity when it comes up
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh, DEFINITELY Happy Birthday (HP). Check out that MCD tag ahah. (I say HP but what I really mean is that I write fic about Regulus Black. The Regulus Black-centric tag is my home in the HP fandom)
fun fact: this is a very short fic that I wrote when I was 15 and basically forgot about until recently, and then I reread it recently and went holy shit?? I pulled NO punches????
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the wildest one you’ve written?
Not a ton? I think a lot of the fandoms I write for don’t really mesh that well. That being said, the aforementioned orphaned PJO fic is actually a PJO/ML crossover, so there’s that
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nope! Sometimes I get comments that are just.... really confusing? And a more common thing is that in my AFTG fic I’ll get comments from people who are so focused on Andreil (or the most common ships in general) to the point that like. they miss the point of what I actually wrote. Those are annoying but they’re not hate, they’re very enthusiastic, they’re just... enthusiastic about a story I’m not writing? So it’s a bit frustrating.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No sjflskgjhgf I struggle enough to write kissing, I think if I ever tried to write smut my brain would just shut down. I’ve managed some fade-to-blacks (which are mostly in WIPs that haven’t been posted) but they rely HEAVILY on the powers of implication
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, although I have occasionally made a brief go of it, not to post, more as an exercise for myself in a language that I’m learning. Anyway I never finish them so I’m gonna say no
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not really? I’ve definitely group brainstormed fics and then written them (the best example of this being Q&A (AFTG), which was the product of a truly off-the-walls group chat), but I tend to do all the actual writing myself. I think the way I write would drive a co-writer up the wall since it’s very disorganized and I don’t write stuff down because ~I know what’s gonna happen I don’t need notes~ and it would infuriate me if I was co-writing with me lmao, so I won’t inflict that on someone else
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I regularly move through ships I’m SUPER focused on, like it’s kind of a rotation. I will forever and always ship Percabeth though.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Okay so if you follow me at @birlwrites you may know this already, but i have this ‘warmups’ document that is just like, random ideas i get that i don’t necessarily want to finish but i just want to try out for a bit? and i have a rule that once a ‘warmup’ is more than 10 pages long (so 11+) then it has to be moved to its own document, just to make scrolling through the warmups doc easier. but usually, a warmup only passes 10 pages when i’m INTO it. so i have a bazillion wips i will probably never finish. i complain about this a lot. i have so many wips. i don’t need more.
here’s one: it’s titled ‘interrobang doesn’t know they’re dating’, it’s basically a full outline for a chowder/tango fic and it would be SO cool if i could ever like. get around to writing it. but i am constantly swamped with writing projects, so it’s probably not gonna happen. if anyone’s interested in adopting it though i’d be down for that!! i think it’s a fun idea i just almost def won’t write it myself
15. What are your writing strengths?
SNAPPY DIALOGUE AND SNARKY INTERNAL MONOLOGUE. my writing is COMEDIC, 90% of my ideas are based on a funny snippet that popped into my head, a lot of my worldbuilding is based on ‘hey you know what would be hilarious’ (whenever i explain how larai selects a chosen one in the rainfall universe i start laughing, which is a STARK contrast to how it plays out on the page), i love writing funny stuff!!
also i think my writing sounds nice, a lot of the time i pick words/syntax based on sound and flow so there’s that too. and i have lots of ideas! i don’t struggle much with writer’s block because a) i have a lot of strategies to deal with it and b) i have a lot of ideas to help get around it/work with it
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
PHYSICAL INTIMACY LMAO, sometimes in my end notes on shippy fics you can see me complaining ‘it took me literally 4 hours to write that very brief kiss’. also sometimes the humor in my writing gets in the way a bit, i have to very consciously put it away so characters can actually have serious, genuine emotions. also i don’t like outlining and i tend not to get betas for fanfiction so like..... i do my best continuity-wise but having really tightly plotted stories is just not my focus lol. (and i do put more effort into that for original stuff, it’s just fic where i kind of go wild)
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
If the reader’s supposed to know what it means, then writing it in another language is iffy for me. (stuff like terms of endearment which come up a lot in fic are fine imo, you can just put a note in to translate them and your reader will prob remember)
If the pov character isn’t supposed to understand it, and it doesn’t matter if the reader understands it, then ig it’s fine? but unless you already speak the other language (and i am NOT confident in my ability to translate english into literally any other language), then i think it’s way easier to just note that a character’s speaking x language and provide tone indicators, body language cues, etc. so the reader understands as much as the pov character.
That being said there are def times when it’s used super effectively--the dialogue in spanish in cemetery boys comes to mind! that’s not fanfic but it’s still creative writing so w/e
so i guess it comes down to: does actually writing out the dialogue in the other language serve a purpose? if it doesn’t, then you’re filling up the screen with words your reader isn’t likely to understand, which i try to avoid doing
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
so the first fandom i actually *wrote* for was PJO, but i distinctly remember creating warrior cats OCs when i was little. i never actually did anything w them but i had them and my favorite was a riverclan warrior named shellstream i remember this VIVIDLY
19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?
oh boy. okay so this is hard because i feel like i’m continuously improving as a writer. like in the sense that my writing is getting closer and closer to really matching my own taste? my favorites tend to always be my current projects as a result. and i do really love set those ghosts alight (HP) but it feels a little like cheating to say a fic i haven’t even finished writing yet. even though it’s def not cheating, that’s just the direction my brain is taking it.
i’m gonna say and then what? (OMGCP) because i’m super proud of the prose (especially ch 2 aka the first actual prose chapter), survived by (HP) for SUCCESSFULLY WRITING AN EMOTION and making readers cry :), and Q&A (AFTG) because i’m literally the one who wrote it and yet it still makes me wheeze. those are all fics i reread occasionally, because i’m big enough to admit i enjoy rereading my old stuff! (just like. to a point. some of my old stuff i can’t look at anymore because all the mistakes stick out to me like they have spotlights shining directly on them)
this was fun!! i’m gonna do an open tag because i just started my fall semester and brain tired. i know sometimes people see open tags and assume the op didn’t really mean it but I MEAN IT, PLEASE DO THIS AND TAG ME!!!!! YES YOU READING THIS

Snippet of dragon jungkook🥺🥺
yo omg sorry im getting to this so late!!!!!!!!
so hahah basically, the premise is dragons exist and they can shift between their dragon form and human form. they have territories they are meant to protect but they are slowly dying off. dragon shifters can mate with other dragon shifters, but it makes their offspring really weak. alternatively, they can mate with humans, and their offspring will be much stronger. the catch is, they can only mate with select humans. if they mate with ‘normal’ humans, the dragons tend to die very soon after.
since the dragons are dying out, they are assigned protectors that are meant to guard and upkeep their shrines that had been built centuries ago. The shrines are where many believe the dragons draw their power from. jungkook is a low ranking dragon that watches over a southern territory and his shrine is located in a remote seaside town. you are one of the many daughters of a noble family, and protectors must come from a noble family. there are a few eligible families in rotation, and your family is next in line.
truth is, a protector hasn’t been assigned in a long time because everyone believes that jungkook has long abandoned his territory. he’s not been seen in his dragon form in years, and nobody knows what his human form is like. even in his dragon form, he’s not a well celebrated dragon. unlike fire or ice dragons who were revered, jungkook was a mud dragon. who........ cares about a dragon that spits out mud? so, his shrine has been left to basically rot for many many years.
but harvest has been terrible for years, and the land had been ravaged by terrible weather so it must mean that they have angered the dragon. so, they needed to assign a protector to appease the dragon. before they made anything official, you already knew you were going to be nominated as the protector. there was no way they were sending off any of your brothers and all your sisters had solidified their place in high society. so you’re shipped off to the tiny little seaside town. when you arrive, you realize this must be the last place in the southern territory that cares about jungkook. there’s dragon paraphernalia EVERYWHERE and just about every other guy in town is named jungkook. there’s jungkook the butcher, jungkook the farmer, jungkook the teahouse server and the list goes on and on. the one that catches your eye though, is jungkook the fisherman. you’ve seen him shirtless an unhealthy amount of times, and he’s definitely caught you staring too many times to count. he’s just about your age, or so you hope because if your family has abandoned you here then you need to start thinking about a future. perhaps, you could start a family of your own. of course, you’re not alone in thinking that, he has women waiting for him at the shore by the dozens.
yet, you think you’ve forged a special friendship with him. he’s taught you how to grill fresh fish with minimal ingredients so that it would taste perfect, and how the moon and stars can guide you if you’re lost out at sea. he invites you on his boat, to follow him out for his daily catch but you tell him you have sworn to protect the shrine, and you must never be too far. he tells you that he’s sure the dragon wouldn’t mind if you take a break every once in a while. you ask him what made him think that he could speak on the dragon’s behalf. he tells you it’s because he shares the same name. you mean to retort that so does half the town, but you miss your chance.
in time, you will learn that he shares more than just the name, because he’s cradling you as he watches you bleed out onto the sand.
“Y/N, please!” He begs, gripping you with urgency. “I can’t — I can’t do it unless I hear you verbally agree!” He shouts through tears, hands fumbling to stop the bleeding, but there’s so much blood and he can almost see the light fading from your eyes. Time was running out.
In your haze, you process what he says. Of all times, he asks if he could kiss you now, you snort mentally. Why couldn’t it have been last week when the two of you were enjoying a quiet night by the beach, looking up at the stars as you heard the waves crash onto the shore? Boys are stupid, you mumble to yourself. But well, you guess a kiss from your long time crush wasn’t too bad a goodbye gift. It would be your first one too. At least in your afterlife, you could boast about it. In true fashion, you say
“Sure, a kiss sounds really good now.”
When his lips touches yours, you remember thinking... this is it? That everyone made such a big deal out of kissing and then this was all there was to it? But perhaps, you spoke too soon because you feel this rush of heat, almost like a fire was consuming you and you mean to tell Jungkook that you think that something was wrong. As he pulls away you open your mouth to speak, but nothing seems to happen. Jungkook is saying something and you think it’s important but you can’t seem to make out any of the words. All you remember is seeing some sort of overgrown lizard slithering towards the island where the shrine sits on, chasing after the bandits that had maimed you.
this is in relation to my wip game post!

If you’re still doing the WIP Title Game, would you mind talking about Blackmail AU?
There’s not a whole lot to be said about the Blackmail AU. Its an AU where Nightswan discovers that Thrawn and Eli are a couple, which due to the Empire's no fraternization between ranks AND between aliens, is a double whammy of code violations.  More than enough to get them arrested and stripped of rank.  For Eli, maybe even treason, which could lead to execution without trial.  Nightswan takes this information and his evidence to Thrawn, threatening to expose it to the high command, who were itching for an excuse to get rid of him, unless he does everything Nightswan demands.  Thrawn could take being removed from the Empire, either the Emperor would save him, or he'd just go back to the Ascendency with this as a failed mission.  But there's Eli, he'd lose his carer, his standing in Imperial space, and possibly his life if Nightswan exposes them.  So for once, Thrawn has no choice but to submit.
I don’t know if I’ll ever actually do anything with this so I’ll just put what I do have under the cut for anyone to read.
Thrawn and Eli had felt some sort of spark back at the Academy, but neither acted on it, Thrawn for worry of pushing Eli, and Eli because he felt his and Thrawn's time was limited.  After being assigned to the Blood Crow, and calming down about being assigned as Thrawn's aide, they both started looking at the prospect of furthering their friendship.  Their emotions don't come clear until they're on the Thunder Wasp.  It was Eli who confessed his feelings to Thrawn late one night, when their conversations had turned too personal.  Thrawn shares his reciprocations.  However, they both hesitated knowing the Empire's ban against relationships between different ranks, and Eli looks further into the policy of aliens, making them both too concerned to take the risk with the severity of the latter.  However, after Thrawn is given Command of the Thunder Wasp, they finally feel safe enough that they could continue a relationship in secret, being Thrawn's aide made it easier.
However, Nightswan has been keeping close tabs on Thrawn and Eli since the Dromedar incident, seeing Thrawn both as a roadblock and a tool he could use, and Eli an extension of Thrawn's own power, so he never kept them too far from sight.  Gathering data and other sorts of information on them trying to find his best weapon to come at Thrawn with.  In his many searches, one thing grabbed his attention, something relatively inconspicuous but stood out like a bright indicator.  Nightswan, using some of his splicer friends, had tapped into Imperial records, extracting activity he linked to Thrawn and Eli.  Particularly one inquiry towards relations between Imperial officers and aliens.  Now why would the duo, consisting of Imperial officer and alien need to know that?  And that was all the spark he needed to realize what was going on.  From there he tailored his searching and information gathering to gather proof of an against regulation relationship between the two.
His proof came almost too easy.  No doubt they had become complacent, believing they were in such a situation where they were beyond detection.  And they were, but only from the Empire, not from people like Nightswan.  Thrawn had taken shore leave, the first and only he'd ever taken since joining the Empire, and of course, requested his Aide join him.  To any Imperial officer or member of the high command, the request made perfect sense and roused no suspicion, Nightswan knew better.  He tracked down the request, the time of departure and destination with a few paid off favors to his more shady of comrades. Lysatra, an odd place Thrawn would choose to visit during his short shoreleave, far out of the way, no it had to have been for Vanto, who hailed from that world.  If Vanto had made the request and subsequent one of taking Thrawn along, that would be suspicious, but when Thrawn, the superior officer did it, it was natural.
Following them to Lysatra was the easy part.  Not many ships frequented the area, Nightswan arrived long before their scheduled time, and staked out the docs waiting for them.  Dropped off by Imperial shuttle, which stayed just long enough for the duo to unload before leaving.  They were already changed into their civilian clothes, and as soon as the shuttle left, they looked just like any other citizen of the Empire.  And thankfully for Nightswan, the two wasted no time in dropping their formalities.  Most likely thinking they were safe on Eli's home world, a place with no Imperial presence, the shorter Human grabbed hold of Thrawn's hand, and pulled the alien down for a kiss.  Nightswan took many pictures the three days the two were on Lysatra.  Getting close to the Vanto's residence, where they stayed, was difficult, but with the two senior Vanto's running a business, that left the total in the household most of the day to two.  In three days, Nightswan had more than enough proof to have the entire high command arrest Thrawn individually.
But that wasn't his goal, he didn't want Thrawn just out of the picture, no with the power he had, he could control Thrawn.  What was better than an intelligent Imperial officer off your back? Said Imperial officer working for you.  Nightswan knew how to get Thrawn's attention, he just needed to get the two of them to speak.  He got the Thunder Wasp to investigate some illegal dealings on the first planet he could find along their patrol route, that was the easy part.  But Nightswan knew Thrawn more than most people around him probably did, their intelligence, their method of thinking and planning, they were similar.  And he knew that if he requested dialogue, Thrawn would be eager to accept it.  He would regret that.  And sure enough, sending a private decrypted message to Thrawn's office, which was far easier than it should have been, Thrawn opened the channel immediately.
"Good evening, Captain."  He says the moment the transmission links.  Thrawn seems just as calm and controlled as usual, Nightswan couldn't help but smirk, thinking of pulling one over on the damn Imperial.
"Nightswan," Thrawn answers, "Good evening.  What has brought you to me?"  Nightswan's smile only grew as he transferred over a datafile.  He heard precisely when Thrawn received it.
"This."  He got a front row seat to Thrawn's pure unfiltered reaction.  All of his documentation, all his proof of Thrawn and Eli's fraternization.  The alien's eyes widened a fraction before narrowing into a tight glare, Nightswan only smiled.
"How have you come into possession of this?"
"I have my ways. I will submit this datafile, of which I have numerous copies, to Imperial high command, you and your aide will be arrested on charges of breaking Imperial regulations, and your aide may even come under charges of treason.  Unless you follow my orders, to the letter and without hesitation, understand?"
"Blackmail?  I had believed you to have more honor than-"
"As I see it, this is just my way of outsmarting my opponent.  You have until the end of this rotation to agree to my terms or I will send out that datafile."  As much as he wanted to watch Thrawn rage, rant, or try and outsmart him back, Nightswan disconnected the transmission leaving Thrawn to stew.
Thrawn sits in his office chair for two full hours, trying to think of a plan to stop Nightswan.  But without knowing where he is, or where all his copies of this data file were, there wasn't anything in his power he could do.  This was one of those scenarios where a Warrior's smartest plan would be to pull back and restrategize.  But there was Eli, as well as his own people who were counting on him.  Eli certainly would come under high commands hammer, and most likely would receive the worst blow of all, losing his life.  Thrawn couldn't be pinned with treason for this, it was a relatively minor transgression, one plenty of officers surely committed in a largely corrupt Empire.  But Thrawn already wasn't in any good graces of high command, who had been waiting for Thrawn to slip up so they could finally remove him.  Eli however, could be called under treason, for willingly joining with an alien, Imperial Officer or not, if high command could arrest him for treason, and they would, giving them authority to execute Eli on the spot.  He couldn't let that happen to him, he refused.  But he also couldn't pack up and defect with Eli, his people needed him.  All of his time was spent trying to gauge and cultivate the Empire to his needs to aid them, he couldn't leave or it would all be for nothing and the galaxy at large could be open to utter destruction.  So, despite the absolute disgust he had for this, Thrawn sent Nightswan a single message response across the transmission line.
'I accept'
Thrawn starts acting differently, not by a lot, but enough for Eli to pick up on it.  He's making stupid mistakes, ones Eli knew that Thrawn wouldn’t make.  He's overlooking things, and when Eli calls attention to them, Thrawn disregards it.  He's acting like any mindless Imperial, completely unlike himself.  But not just during work, he seems so much sadder than before, more reserved, like he's hiding something from Eli specifically.  In their time alone, all Thrawn does is hold him tightly, like he's afraid Eli will suddenly disappear.  This behavior goes on for a time, Eli had hoped Thrawn would get through this weird phase, but it only gets worse with time.  After Eli is finally given his promotion to Lieutenant Commander and they move to the Chimaera, Thrawn begins broaching subjects such as Eli leaving the Empire.  He doesn't understand why Thrawn would talk like that, sure Eli is very unhappy with the way things seem to be going with the Empire, but he just got his long awaited promotion, why would he leave now?
It eventually dawns on him, that whatever has made Thrawn act this way, it has to do with Nightswan, somehow.  He only acts dumb when its missions that involve Nightswan, overlooks Nightswans movements, and had completely stopped asking Eli for updates on him.  Whatever this is, Nightswan could be behind it.  But why wouldn't Thrawn tell him, didn't he trust him?  Eli finally confronts Thrawn about it, corners him in his quarters during one of their few moments of privacy together.  But Thrawn doesn't tell him anything, he just pulls Eli into his arms, and whispers in a broken voice, "Please, I don't want to lose you."  And it hurts Eli's heart so badly, that he doesn't press him any further.  But he hasn't given up on it.
The time comes that the Batonn insurgents must be dealt with. He orders Faro away and is leading Eli to the smuggler freighter he had brought along, some plan in mind for it, when he suddenly receives a message on his datapad. All at once, he calls off whatever they were about to do, citing a change of plans and they’d be calling Faro back and returning to the Chimaera. He knows something's up, and he had one hunch of how to get to the bottom of it.
On their way back, Eli fakes some excuse of needing to retrieve some left behind data cards, a falsehood in its entirety, one That he sees makes Thrawn suspicious, but he's never had a reason to distrust Eli in the past and lets him go.  He rushes back to the freighter, going off to do whatever Thrawn's plan had been.  He knew that they were going to observe the battle, hopefully whatever Thrawn had suddenly wanted to avoid would be there.  He was right, just before the battle was to commence, he spotted another freighter leaving the planet, that was his target.  He hailed it, feeling his frustrations and anger outweighing his anxiety.  The shuttle opens the channel, and Eli cuts off whatever they were about to say, "I'm Commander Vanto of the Imperial Navy, tell Nightswan I wanna talk with him."  There's silence on the other end, no doubt Eli had blindsided them, but he was certain.  Thrawn only acted strangely with matters surrounding Nightswan, and if this was the freighter Thrawn had been hoping to catch then they had to be with Nightswan.  And if whatever Nightswan was doing could lead to Thrawn losing Eli, then obviously, Nightswan would relish the ability to get Eli on his own terf.
And Eli was right.  The man on the other end told Eli to follow him and better not "do anything funny" and began their jump out of the system.  Stamping down the last bit of anxiety in him, Eli followed, prepared to get to the bottom of this and solve it, or die trying.
He's brought aboard, searched by pirates and escorted by two back to where Nightswan no doubt would be.  He had expected Nightswan to be shocked to see Eli there, or at least confused as to why Eli would suddenly waltz up to him.  But he seemed completely calm, and as if he expected Eli to come to him.
"Welcome Commander Vanto."  He greets as the two escorts sit Eli down in the chair across from him.
"Nightswan."  He sneers.  "What did you do to Thrawn?"
"Pardon?"
He gives Eli a coy smile.  He slams a hand on the desk between them and hisses, "Cut the Kryate Spit, I know you've done something, and I'm not leaving until I know what."  The two escorts move closer to restrain Eli, but Nightswan stops them and waves them off.  Once along, he speaks again.
"It's funny you think I'd let you leave here alive."
"I know you will, because whatever you've done, I'm somehow collateral."  Nightswan chuckled, lounging back in his chair.
"So Thrawn never told you I take it?"
"No, why else would I be here? Now talk."  He barks, Nightswan's calmness really getting on his nerves.
"I don't think you're the one in any position to make demands.  But I must say, you are awfully clever, I'm surprised it took you this long to do something."
"Cygni, answer me."  The last one had to be hissed out from Eli's clenched teeth,
"Alright fine, I'm happy to get to show you myself."  He pulls out his datapad, casually flipping through it before choosing some file and setting it down to display.  And Eli's blood runs cold.  Because everything makes itself clear in an instant.  Nightswan had Thrawn pinned under his thumb with blackmail.
"Your blue lover has to answer my every demand, or else this file will be sent straight to high command.  It's somewhat romantic if I'm being honest, he's more scared of you being executed for treason over this than fearful for whatever they might do to him."  Eli stares down at the holo file, picture after picture, recording after recording of him and Thrawn, holding hands, kissing, numerous compromising positions that couldn't be denied, that not even Thrawn could talk his way out of.  Emperor or no, this couldn't be ignored.  Nightswan gave him a grin, crossing his arms casually over his chest.
"You followed us to Lysatra?"  Eli whispers, disbelieving.
"I like to think of it as more, me constructing the perfect weapon against Thrawn."
Eli had a temper issue, he knew he did, his parents had told him, Thrawn had brought it up, his previous instructors had noticed, but he was always in control of himself to pull back his outbursts.  But this was beyond any Human's ability.
"You Bastard!"  He roars, leaping from his chair and across the desk in one swift move, knocking Nightswan to the ground.  He reels back, and clocks him hard across the face with his fist.  He does it again, and again and again before Nightswan even has a chance to react.  He grabs Eli's next punch, glaring up at him, sneering with blood stained teeth.
"Hit me again and I'll send the file, kill me, and the file is already rigged to send.  You are trapped Vanto, Thrawn is trapped.  Our game of wits is over, I have all the cards!"  Eli is breathing heavy, vision swimming red with rage, but despite it all, he smiles down at Nightswan.
"So you're saying I have at least a few weeks to pack up and defect before the high command gets around to doing anything with that information?"  Nightswan's face drops.  "Sounds like I have nothing to lose."  He gets him across the face with another punch, using the disorientation to snag Nightswan's own blaster from his belt.  "This is for Thrawn."  He hisses, not hesitating to shoot the man directly between the eyes.  Nightswan wasn't bluffing, he wasn't the man to do that, Eli was certain, he was running against the clock now.  Thankfully, Nightswan's ship was large enough for Eli to sneak around his pirates, no one in a group larger than two, giving Eli ample opportunity to make it back to the hanger.  The ship he'd come in was being searched, but one of the ships left on the farther edges was completely alone.  He was able to commandeer the ship, leave the hangar and punch his coordinates in before anyone realized he was the one on board.
Thrawn was waiting for him when he returned, met him in the hangar of the Chimaera, looking at him in a way he never had before.  He was angry.  But he didn't say anything to him yet, instead, he silently led the way back to his office.  Once alone in his office, Eli started.
"He's dead."  Thrawn stared at him blankly for a moment.  "I killed him Thrawn, and if he was telling the truth, we have limited time before high command receives and reviews his file."
"How could you do this Eli?"  Thrawn sighs, some of his anger ebbing, but he was clearly still livid.  Eli simply stepped closer to the Chiss, and gave him a hard slap across the face.
"How kirffing dare you keep this from me you daft idiot!"  He shouts, grabbing Thrawn's cheeks and turning his head back towards him.  Still seemingly in shock that Eli struck him he took a moment to respond.
"Eli I-"
"I know you feel the need to protect me or something, but we're a team Thrawn, a single entity with two minds.  Never keep things from me, ever again."  Slowly Thrawn nodded.
"I am sorry Eli."
"I'm sorry for hitting you also, even though you deserved it.  Now, we gotta go."
"I had hoped that there was another option for us, I was not prepared to give up on the Empire quite yet, but it seems we have no choice now."
"No we have a choice, together at least, now get packing."  Thrawn leaned down, and Eli met him half way in a gentle kiss.  "Stars, I love you."  He sighs, smiling as Thrawn smiles down at him.
"As do I love you Eli."

as requested on twitter
i use tumblr literally once a month at this point in my life and this time its for the vanven fic rec list someone requested over there
under a readmore so i don’t stretch any dashes
the word counts and au/canon tags all vary, but as a general rule of thumb these are all sfw! ill post ratings too tho
god, there are so many
tide me over, love and life - G, 9k, modern au. vanitas used to be an amazing part of the swim team but finds himself distracted and his times slowing lately. ven, the team manager, takes it upon himself to help vanitas out. very introspective heavy, featuring beautiful turns of phrase and a laid back pacing appropriate for your favorite slice of life anime. this is probably my favorite vanven fic, tbh
Heart Is Where The Home Is - G, 341k, canonverse. one sided roxas/vanitas. this is VERY LONG but its 1 the fic that got me into vanven and 2 in my mind, THE GOLD STANDARD FOR HEART HOTEL FIC. it bounces back and forth between two plotlines - a messy vanitas redemption as he and ven learn to live with each other, and how things get complicated once roxas and xion join the hotel. the characters are all amazingly written, the worldbuilding is very in-depth, and it also features one of the best written xion arcs i’ve ever seen in fic. DEF worth the read
You’re not the boy you used to be. - T, 176k, modern au, namixi sideship, mentioned terqua, sorikai, and leaisa. HUGE FOCUS on the friendship between vanitas and xion. hahaha you really thought i wouldn’t write a rec list and NOT include my own fics? blease. this is a story about grieving an abusive parent that got distracted by a romantic subplot. it’s a non-linear fic, following three different parts of vanitas’s life at the same time. there’s a xion quote that sums it up best imo: “We carry our childhoods with us. For better or worse, we still do. But we can be better from where we came from. We always can.”
Belief, Faith - G, 2k, post kh3-vanitas-somehow-redeemed-au. also my fic. vanven go on a trip and vanitas struggles with being accepted and loved. very introspective-heavy.
my heart’s on the (drum)line - G, 9k, marching band au, rokunamixi as a secondary ship. my last fic! this is 100% a romantic comedy in fic form, featuring the most obtuse vanitas ever seen. vanitas gets a huge crush on ven and is legit too stupid to figure it out, so he spends all his time being angry and melodramatic instead. props to his long-suffering best friend namine, who obsessively polishes her flute to blind the people who are mean to her and is a complete disaster about her own crushes.
Only You - G, 2k, canonverse. a heart hotel fic. waywardriot wrote an entire series of fics for vanven week and while i recommend all of them, this one is my favorite! basically vanitas finds redemption through the power of love. its cute as heck.
Salvation - G, 17k, canonverse, wip. a post-kh3 fic where vanitas is taken in by the guardians of light and very slowly redeemed. eventual vanven. no romance yet, but i LOVE how vanitas is written here (so much bitterness! he’s like a wounded feral anime) and i especially love his interactions with kairi and xion here.
Chains Unbroken - T, 72k, canonverse, side terqua and sorikai. post-kh3, post heart-hotel where vanitas gets to chill with the rest of the squad. he was stolen by xehanort and forced to become one of the 13 darknesses and it broke his heart, so ven and pals look for a way to help him out. the pov rotates between multiple characters, so you get a good look into many different relationships here!!! i especially love kairi here, too.
Codenames - G, 4k, modern au. vanitas is a secret agent and ven is the little voice in his ear keeping him on track. well-paced, funny, cute, and with enough intrigue to make the heist aspect super gripping!
we follow our own steps - T, 13k, canonverse. post-kh3 where vanitas doesn’t die, but finds himself with nothing other than his intense attachment to ven. this vanitas is SO fun and SO snappy, and learns how to be something other than completely unhinged. it’s also adorable and very sweet.
has no one ever? G, 390 words, canonverse. all lower-case, but it’s so short that it doesn’t bother me. this prose is ABSOLUTELY lovely and sad and it’s exactly what it says on the tin - ven helps vanitas clean up after a fight. vanitas does not understand what a gentle touch is. it’s good.
As He Sleeps - Not Rated (but sfw), 1.5k, canonverse. slight body horror warning. this features some BEAUTIFUL PROSE and it reads the way being in a dream that isn’t-quite-bad-but-isn’t-good feels. the kind of dream that you KNOW affected you deeply but slips through your memories the moment you wake up. fitting, since it’s a fic about ven’s dreams as he sleeps during the ten year gap. featuring some beautiful metaphors and comparisons to vanitas as a fallen angel. this makes me want a canonverse fic where vanitas is somehow alive and acts like a knight to ven’s sleeping body. please. someone grant me this wish.
Habit - G, 2k, canonverse. ven develops this weird habit of seeing vanitas at night. it develops into something more. very sweet, very cute, a good read overall.
heart to heart - G, 1k, canonverse. vanitas finds out ven is in love with him through their empathy connection. also adorable.
Come, My Purrloiner of Nightmares - G, 1k, modern au. LOOK. I JUST. IM A SUCKER FOR THE “CUDDLING DURING NIGHT TERRORS” TROPE
recovery is a long road (but there’s no traffic) - T, 10k, implied terqua and a bigger focus on the individual relationships between the wayfinders + vanitas than romance, canonverse. a REALLY GOOD post-kh3 fic exploring the wayfinders + vanitas healing after the big war. the prose is lovely and the exploration of every character is beautiful (AQUA IS MY FAVORITE IN THIS FIC, ACTUALLY)
ok these last two are in french but uh, look, LOOK. they’re readable with google translate. there are some weird translation things but these plots are good enough to push past that
Safety Lock - T, 10k, superhero au. LOOK. I LOVE SUPERHEROES. I *REALLY* LOVE SUPERHEROES. the worldbuilding here is SOOO MUCH FUN. ven is part of an agency of superheroes called the guardians of light, and when local supervillain vanitas starts stirring up more trouble, ven takes it upon himself to stop him personally. it’s what ya gotta do, when you have a shared past the way they do. it is SUCH a fun read and ven is SO MUCH FUN, it’s just a good time all around.
Eux, premiere partie (translation: Them, part one) - T, 38k, au. i have a huge weakness for a very specific type of story and that is “really rich kid is, for whatever reason, unable to leave their mansion and their life changes drastically when someone new enters their life” and this story is 100% that. the world outside vanitas’s family’s property is dangerous, filled with these people that aren’t really human anymore. ven is a bodyguard hired to protect vanitas, mostly from trying to escape the mansion again. thing is, the mansion is just as dangerous for vanitas as the world outside. i will be real with you the xion here is SUUUUUUPER OOC, and while she is a compelling villain in her own right, the role she plays and the personality she has here is something more akin to larxene. even then. EVEN THEN. the worldbuilding is SOOO GOOD, the relationship between ven and vanitas is very compelling, and the way vanitas is written (as this very bitter kid) is AMAZING. there’s so much mystery and intrigue about the world outside the walls vanitas inhabits, and there’s a ton of angst but it’s just. ugh. it’s so good. i love it especially for this line here, re: what desperation does to us: “Hunger, especially. It is she who destroys what remains human.”
there are other fics i have read and enjoyed but these all are like, top tier (or at least high tier) for me!!! looking at them all in a group its very obvious what kind of tropes i like

Tagged by @elennare (thanks for the tag!)
Your name: Online, people just call me some variation of blob, which I am absolutely cool and fine with.
Fandoms you write for: Well, I’ve only really done High Rollers fics. I hope to write for more fandoms, and I’ve thought about writing a Kingdom Hearts fic at some point.
Where you post: Ao3 all the way baby! Hugo-award winning site where I put up my technically award-winning by association fics.
Most popular one-shot: If you follow my blog, you probably know it. My first fanfic and the first Aerois-specific fanfic that’s also a shipping one: Safe. The super fluffy Quillucius fic that spawned from about two lines worth of RP. I’m honestly surprised that people liked it so much and that people still go ahead and reread it every so often. Thanks to all of you folks, I got myself motivation to write a whole bunch more!
Most popular multi-chapter story: Heh heh heh, I haven’t done one of those yet. But I’ve got two multi-chapter fics that I’m working on... will work on once I finish one of my oneshots.
Favorite story I’ve written: I know that I’ve got small pickings here, but I honestly gotta go with Love Languages for this. Even though it’s a short collection of drabbles, the small nature of it had me really cram as much warmth and affection into the Quillucius interactions, and when I actually read it for the first time in a while, I made myself get overwhelmed with how sweet it was? The things you don’t realize while writing...
A story you were nervous to post: Gifts. This one, I made myself a deadline to get it out on Christmas Day since it was a Christmas-themed oneshot the crew did, and the day before, I somehow managed to write over a third of the fic in one sitting on the Notes app on my phone. I was really nervous that I rushed and could’ve possibly ruined the ending by doing so, but it received a lot of love from you peeps! Thanks for that!
How do you choose your titles? I generally have an idea in my head of what I want the fic to revolve around and put down the first title that comes to mind. This usually leads my fics to have one word or phrased titles that bear the main theme of my story.
Do you outline? Every time I’ve done an outline, it was never for my personal writing. I generally let myself make up the plot as I go, having certain scenes or points in my mind that I try to connect and incorporate into what I’m actually doing. Doesn’t always work out though...
How many of your stories are complete? Well, you can count them on one hand. Got three published fics, but I’m hoping to break the double digits this year!
How many of your stories are in progress? Four! Two of them are multi-chapter ones (which I have to finish writing the first chapter of) and the other two are spawned from a prompt from @dementorsatemysoup. It was originally one fic, but then I realized that I actually began writing something completely different from what she gave me to work with. Hopefully, I will finish one by the end of this month. So long as college does not kill me.
Coming soon: Hopefully it’s the prompt. That’s the one that I’ve been working on the most recently. Usually my latest WIP takes precedence over others, but I might need to work on a rotation schedule to make steady progress on all my fics.
Do you accept prompts? Abso-bloody-lutely I do. Generally I come up with ideas on my own based on how the campaign is going, but feel free to hit me up if you have something specific you want to see me write!
Upcoming story you are most excited to write: Well, I thought up of a possible Quillucius Coffee Shop AU. I’ve been working out certain things in my head for how it would go, and I’m excited to start writing and exploring that type of AU that seems to be in every fandom!
Tagging @nekosounds @neonbluetiefling @dungeonraided @maddy-mack-writes and anyone else willing to do this! I only really tagged people who I know have Ao3 accounts, but I’m totally willing to read up on any fics any of you have written!

WIP - Phil Coulson’s Personalized Matchmaking for Clueless Superheroes
A post-CATFA, pre-Avengers that might have been, had Phil Coulson been slightly more meddlesome than his canon counterpart.
=========================
It starts like it always does: with his two biggest pain-in-the-ass agents passing vital intel and credible threat assessments Phil can’t ignore.
The very earliest, faintest strains of an oncoming headache begin throbbing across his sinuses as he stares down at the report placed in front of him on his desk. He desperately wants to massage his temples, rub his eyes, scrub at his face until this problem goes away, but he refuses to do that. He refuses to let Barton and Romanoff know how very, very tired he is of them finding the most unique and interesting problems to dump into his lap.
They don’t get to win on his watch. They haven’t earned the satisfaction.
So instead of doing any of the things he so badly wants to do, he folds his hands on the desk in front of him, quirks a skeptical eyebrow at the pair standing quietly on the other side of his desk, and says, “Stark has about a dozen death threats against her. She collects them like trading cards. What makes this one different?”
Barton clears his throat, and his expression shifts into that angelic schoolboy look Phil finds more suspicious than Barton’s normal shit-eating grin. “Well, sir,” he starts, and his eyes flick to Romanoff’s for a moment before focusing back on Phil. “We’ve reliably confirmed that sources outside Stark Industries have come into possession of documents that detail her security arrangements and personal schedules for the next six months.”
Phil never trusts Romanoff’s expressions, because she’s got the best poker face he’s ever seen. He’s built his career on being able to read people’s smallest microexpressions, but Romanoff’s mostly neutral, mildly irritated default death stare is flawless. “Whether she wants to admit it or not, Stark’s a SHIELD asset, and we can’t take the risk that unknown parties could take her out or co-opt her.”
He skimmed the report before they arrived for their debrief, so it’s easy to keep the surprise and concern from showing on his face. He sighs through his nose and closes the open file, then turns his chair to lean back in it and thread his fingers together, elbows on the armrests. “You sound like you’re advocating to assassinate her ourselves, Romanoff.”
He’s inwardly delighted when Romanoff blinks. “No,” she says, and is that a note of uncertainty he’s detecting in her voice? It just might be. “No, sir. Not at all. Just pointing out the potential losses if this intel isn’t taken seriously. When I was undercover in Stark’s company last year--”
“Which you made a fucking mess of doing, I’d like to add,” Barton interjects cheerfully.
Romanoff narrows her eyes, side-eyes Barton and hisses, “Shut your mouth if you value your tongue.”
"You seem to value it too, if I'm not mistaken," Barton continues, gracefully ducking out of the way of Romanoff's backhanded swipe, but coming into range for her sneak attack from behind. "Ow! Hey!"
“Enough,” Coulson says, lets some of his amusement show, mostly because he can’t hold it all in out of sight. “Let’s assume the threat is credible, and critical. What are your recommendations?”
“Undercover, round-the-clock protection,” Romanoff says promptly, fixing Phil with the sort of stare he finds unsettling. “The best we have. Stark’s safety is a matter of national security, no matter what way you look at it. She’s a SHIELD consultant, her company holds government contracts, and she built a working suit of power armor out of a box of scraps in a cave in the middle of nowhere.”
Phil considers, steeples his fingers and slowly rotates his chair so he’s sitting straight behind the desk again. As much as it pains him to admit it, the best of SHIELD is standing in front of him, but he’s not getting the usual vibe that emanates from agents looking for high priority protection details. “Are you asking for the assignment, Romanoff?”
Romanoff’s face does… something. On a normal person, Phil might label the fleeting expression as regret. “No, sir,” she says. “As Clint pointed out, I made a few errors in judgment during my undercover assignment at SI. I don’t think Toni’d welcome me back any time soon. I’m very good, Agent Coulson, but I can’t protect someone trying to actively run away from me.”
Barton leans forward, beaming. “I’ll do it. Where do I sign up?”
Romanoff yanks him back, lets go as he yelps and flails to keep his footing, which he does after some very fancy footwork that impresses even Phil. “Agent Barton’s idea of protecting Stark will be to keep her in bed,” Romanoff says, tucking her hand behind her back again and ignoring Barton’s dirty look. “It might have been effective on past ops, but his personal training regimen has been slacking and I doubt he has the stamina to keep up with Stark in the sack.”
“I hate you,” Barton says sincerely, with another look of absolute filth at Romanoff. “I hate you so much.”
Phil sighs quietly, but doesn’t miss the amused quirk of Romanoff’s mouth, and finds himself smiling faintly in return. “Who would you recommend in your place, Romanoff?”
“May, sir,” she replies promptly. “Carter, maybe. Stark and she have good history. Ward, if she wouldn’t eat him alive on day one. Ogawa’s good, and so is Kimball.”
Phil tries to picture assigning Melinda May to Toni Stark’s protection detail and fails to come up with any scenario that doesn’t result in blood and bodies and a smoking crater where Manhattan used to be. He represses his instinctive shudder. “I’ll take it under consideration,” he says, rests his hand on top of the folder pensively. “Is there anything else I should know about your recent assignment before your official debriefing this afternoon?”
“No sir,” Barton and Romanoff say in perfect unison.
Phil eyes them both speculatively, because that’s about as suspicious as it gets in his books, especially where these two are concerned. But he decides to let it go, in the interest of actually finding half an hour to eat a proper lunch today. “I’ll see you this afternoon in the war room then,” he says, nods to each of them. “You’re dismissed.”
He doesn’t pay attention to Barton and Romanoff’s squabbling as they leave his office, and he only looks up to make sure they closed the door behind them as they exit. Best of the best needed, and the two best have taken themselves out of consideration. Hmm.
It’s gut instinct, but he reaches into his desk, turns the key in the lock of the hidden panel he keeps secured at all times inside his tie drawer, and pulls out two manila folders stamped EYES ONLY in 72-point font. Sets them side by side, just under the threat assessment Barton and Romanoff compiled.
Sits and stares at all three folders for a long time, pensively.
Two problems. Toni Stark. Steve Rogers.
If Phil plays his cards right, Rogers just might take interest in protecting the daughter of a man who had been at the very least an acquaintance of his. And Phil wishes Stark all the luck in the world trying to outstubborn a man who is the orneriest sonofabitch Phil’s ever had the pleasure to meet.
He makes a note in his personal planner to schedule a psych eval at the earliest opportunity, because there’s no way this doesn’t end in tragedy and body counts. But the more he thinks about it, the more he likes it.
In a tiny, distant part of his mind, where his headcanon lives, where both Iron Man and Captain America have shrines set up in their honor, he thinks that maybe, if he plays his cards exactly right, he’ll be able to pat himself on the back at their wedding reception.
