i think it's hard to just pick one thing about him tbh. like in general, i think he brings an energy and togetherness for the team that i don't think anyone else can make up for when he's gone. everything's less fun and loud and entertaining when he's not there. he wants to be in on the jokes, wants to be there hyping the guys up, comes and plays hockey every day like he loves it and is having fun with it. not to say he doesn't go through swings where it's not all sunshine and rainbows bc he certainly does. he's human, but i just think that motivation to go go go and pump everyone else up is a really valuable trait on a team sport.

i also love the way that humanness comes out in relation to his teammates vs the media. like of fucking course he takes offense to the 24/7 critique from the media cycle..... of course he hates being the butt of everyone's larger issue with the salary cap. but it's not like he CAN'T take criticism. he's a pro athlete and that's half the fucking job, and he's really motivated to get better ALWAYS. he's the first/second most well rounded player on the team, and he's constantly wanting to improve and constantly looking at the ipad to see what can be better and constantly turning that energy/need to talk into a way to better communicate with his teammates. that's what gets me so much about the way he and auston work together and the way they've had many years in a row now to tailor the way they talk and play to each other's benefit. i think it's just fun to watch... i wish we could have an iso cam on them at all times.

on a personal level, i love how unabashedly goofy and himself mitch is. he's gotten more guarded with the cameras around all the time, but the man's threshold for what he feels shame over is high, and i just think more people need to be like that lol. like yes, make your dog your entire personality and never stop 🫶 say accidentally heart-on-your-sleeve things like you love him bc at the end of the day he always loves you no matter how good or bad you are at your job...
