Most OOC episode ever and you didn’t hate it?

No? I didn’t. 🙄

Did I miss something here Nonny? Are people not allowed to have different opinions anymore? Did someone appoint you to be the fandom police?

You do know it’s perfectly fine for you to hate an episode while other people still found some enjoyment there right?

Look, I’m not saying this was the best episode ever. Far from it… believe me. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t appreciate the things that were good about it and that I really liked, next to the things I really didn’t care about and were badly handled.

These are the things I didn’t like:

A. I didn’t care for the nonchalant way a few of the characters acted about Bobby’s death. Buck, Eddie, Hen and even Maddie’s characterisation felt off somehow. They weren’t completely OOC, but a few of their reactions didn’t ring true to me.

Buck because he hardly reacted to anything in this episode, which does make me think (and hope) they’ll get back to that in a future episode.

Eddie, because the Eddie we know and love would have been on a plane the moment Bobby died. Chris would have been fine at his abuela’s for a while, because Eddie would never leave Chris with his parents. Isabella also lives in Texas now, remember?

Hen was understandably worried about Athena, but she didn’t seem all that much affected herself, which was odd.

Maddie just kinda ignored Chimney’s ordeal and sent Buck to talk to him? The Maddie we know would have forcefully sat her husband down and made him talk.

B. Tim said he killed Bobby off for realism, but where was the realism in this episode? Chimney was in organ failure two weeks ago and now he’s fine? He’s exercising himself to death and drinking copious amounts of vodka? Athena is allowed to just exhume the body of a baby and embark on an investigation around it? Where was her boss in this? She should have shut this down.

C. The lack of a logical Buddie continuation. Eddie came back from Texas, but we didn’t even get one single scene where Buck picked him up at the airport? No hug and short conversation about how the other is feeling? Buck’s feelings for Eddie were questioned in 8x11 and up until 8x13 we saw they were in regular contact. Are we just supposed to assume that they talked about Bobby over FaceTime?

D. While we’re on the topic or Buddie. Why was Ravi there in their scenes together? Don’t get me wrong, I like Ravi, but he there was literally no use for him in those scenes. He felt shoehorned in.

E. Outside of Athena and Chimney, we hardly got any of the characters reactions to Bobby dying. But we got an entire emotional scene with Gerrard’s reaction to Bobby’s death? What?! 😶

F. Athena’s investigations took up waaaaaaay too much time. Why did we have to focus so much on the fire and then the mom? Why did we need to see the scene where that woman wanted to kidnap the boy? They could have just talked about it. Why was is necessary to show the scene? It took away precious screen time from all the other main characters.

G. Finally, this was Bobby’s big goodbye. Why was it so short and kinda void of emotion? They filmed the funeral for an entire day and then we got two minutes or less in the episode? Where were the emotional beats we are so used to on 911? Remember the shooting? Or the lightning strike? The characters reacted accordingly to one of their own almost dying. But ever since Bobby’s heart-attack in season 7 the character’s reactions have been bordering on ‘not interested’ to complete ‘indifference’. What is up with that? Bad writing perhaps? Bad direction?

These are the things I liked:

A. Even though the mother & child story took up a lot of time, it did hold value for the story. It helped Athena get to grips with her feelings of Bobby dying. The story was engaging enough to keep my interest.

B. Angela and Kenny shone in this episode. Athena and Chimney’s process of grief and guilt was really well written and it made me choke up a few times in the episode. Athena kneeling down next to Bobby’s coffin in the end? Had me bawling.

C. BUDDIE! EDDIE IS BACK! I missed him and the Buddie dynamic so much! Eddie stayed at Buck’s, had stubble, felt guilty for not being there, ate crumpets and hugged and talked to Ravi. That is my Eddie all right.

I like how him and Buck snapped right back into that rhythm of them trying to comfort and reassure each other. I love how Buck told him it wasn’t his fault when Eddie blamed himself for not being there.

It was short and brief, but it opened the door for Eddie to return to LA, which he will. We already saw a lot of Ryan bts for episode 18, so we’ll get more Eddie!!!

I already complained about the fact that I wished it had been just them in those scenes, without Ravi. But on the flip-side of that, I do think Ravi was put in those scenes on purpose. (I really didn't like it though, but this was Tim's decision so I've got to deal with it.) It kept Buck and Eddie from communicating about Bobby. So I do think the show will get back to that somehow. Well—that’s what I hope anyway. 🙄🤞🤞🤞

D. The amount of ‘Bobby is alive’ foreshadowing in this episode was insane. His body was kept for 14 days? Nobody bothered to check the coffin to see if he was really in there? Not even after the empty baby-grave?

Combine that with all of the other information we already had from ‘leaks’ to hints and cast reactions? Yeah, that man is alive and well somewhere. 😏

Notice how the scene went almost exactly like the ‘leaked’ script from 1 April. The only thing missing was Bobby calling Maddie from the coffin. So my bet is that he’ll show up alive and well in 17 or 18. I don’t think they’ll go into hiatus with Bobby’s fate still undecided.

E. I loved how Athena decided to bury Bobby in Minnesota with his first family. It was so fitting for him. A perfect resting place. Bobby would have approved. It made me cry. 😭

What about the rest of season 8 and beyond that?

I’m interested in the rest of the season because I’m convinced that Bobby is alive. My guess is that they’ll show us the 118 trying to move on with their life, navigating the grief. Right up until the moment when Bobby returns.

I know I know, all of this hinges on the fact of whether or not Bobby is alive. But I’m not willing to give up on him yet. It’s all too dodgy in my opinion, so I choose to believe he is alive. If we get nothing hinting at Bobby still being alive by the end of season 8? Only then will I start accepting that he might really be dead. 🤷‍♀️

Most importantly, I do still have faith that they’ll return to Buddie in the two last episodes. The foreshadowing in 8x09, 8x10, 8x11, 8x12 and 8x13 was too big of a set-up for the show to just drop that or put it in the fridge until season 9.

I have no idea how they’ll get Eddie back to LA though. Maybe Bobby’s death put some things into perspective?

I’m also completely lost on the timeline and I refuse to speculate anymore, because at this point I truly haven’t the faintest idea how they’ll go about the Buddie of it all. 🤔

All I know is that it will be crucial for this show to make it crystal clear and very very very concrete that Buddie is a sure thing and is going canon. If there is absolutely nothing? I know that a lot of people in this fandom might not watch season 9 at all.

Personally, if we don't get anything concrete in season 8? I might just go into season 9 allowing myself to get spoiled again before each episode, just like I did at the end of season 6 and 7 when things looked so bleak and dire that I had lost a lot of hope. That way I can prepare myself for whatever is coming for Buddie: good or bad.

I also don’t think this show is doomed and that season 9 will be the last season, just because they killed off Bobby and handled his goodbye in the worst way possible.

Was it a good move? HELL NO! Will the show lose viewers because of this? Yes, that’s very likely. But a lot of them will say they won’t tune in again, but they’ll be there at the start of next season anyway.

Next to that, they will probably also gain a few new viewers along the way. This show is still one of the strongest shows ABC has. It has Oscar-winner Angela Bassett and a lot of other fan-favourite actors. So yeah, I do think this show will be just fine in the end.

But just imagine how many viewers it would gain if Bobby would turn out to be still alive? What an amazing twist would that be? And if they throw in Buddie with that? Well, you’d have an unbeatable duo right there.

So yeah, I still have faith in both here.

Does that mean that everyone should share my opinion now Nonny? No, of course not. Everyone’s opinion is valid here. If you hated the episode? I completely understand. I get why and I support you 100%. If you loved it and thought it was the greatest episode ever? Great! Good for you! Once again I support you 100%.

All I’m saying is that I’m somewhere in between right now, trying to see the bright side of things. My opinion might change at the end of this season, but this is where I'm at right now.

a/n: literally everyone hates him so this post will definitely flop💀 apologies for being so inactive, i’ve been super busy these past few weeks — i wanted to write something for shin's birthday but i just didn't have the time😭

- i feel like omi is the kind of boyfriend who acts like he doesn't care but is secretly very soft for you

- he won't admit it but he has a hard time expressing his feelings — you fell for him first but he fell way harder, and he wishes he could tell you how much you mean to him </3

- he's the type to tell you that he loves you when he thinks you're asleep, and if he's sure that you're out cold he'll gently kiss your forehead as well

- the first time you told him you loved him he cried </3

- i think that omi is secretly a very insecure person, and deep down he feels like he's undeserving of love and thinks you're too good for him

- gets self conscious about his scar sometimes — he loves when you randomly kiss it and tell him that he's handsome, it makes him feel all warm inside <3

- for dates he usually takes you out to expensive restaurants, but sometimes you'll do something more casual like going to art galleries or museums or going shopping together

- every time you walk through crowds he puts his hand on your waist or lower back

- whenever you go on a date he always insists on paying for everything, he loves to spoil you <3

- omi’s love language is definitely gift giving, and he’s often buying you expensive presents — whether that's perfume, jewellery, or whatever it is that you're into

- he always seems to know exactly what to get you, you don't notice it but he pays very close attention to you while you're shopping together and takes note of what you like

- omi is surprisingly a huge gentleman — he always opens your car door for you, carries your bags, offers his coat to you when it's cold, etc

- whenever you have an argument he buys your favourite flowers as an apology </3

- sometimes he has trouble sleeping, but if you run your fingers through his hair he'll be out like a light

- he randomly wakes up in the night and starts coughing up a lung💀 if you're not a heavy sleeper then good luck

- it's no secret that he smokes way too much, please encourage him to quit or at least cut down — he won't listen to anyone but you

- if you don't smoke yourself then omi will always make an effort to put out his cigarettes whenever you're around, or at the very least blow the smoke away from your direction

- you're the only one who he will let poke fun at him because of his habit, you sometimes joke that you won't kiss him anymore if he carries on smoking because of his stale cigarette breath, and he just rolls his eyes at you and fights back a smile

- he would rather die than admit it but he still gets butterflies when you tease him </3

- he's got such a loud sneeze and it always scares the shit out of you, it's a whole jumpscare💀

- i feel like he has very stiff shoulders, sometimes he asks you to massage them for him — the only problem is he can't control the groans and praises that fall past his lips, and if anyone were to overhear him they would definitely think that something else was going on💀

- “fuck, that's it, baby… feels so fuckin’ good…”

- anyways😶

- sometimes you do skincare together, and omi would be lying if he said he understood any of it — he gets so confused when you put cucumber slices on his eyes or use a jade roller on him

- he does love the feeling of you applying different products to his face though, you're always so gentle with him <3

- omi loves to take bubble baths with you and just hold you in his arms, sometimes he goes all out with candles and rose petals, it's very romantic

- it rarely leads to anything more, sometimes he just needs to hold your body against his </3

- he's actually super protective over you, whenever you're out in public together and he notices someone else looking you up and down he gets all possessive, instinctively putting his arm around you and glaring at them

- there have been times where he's gotten into fights because someone wouldn't leave you alone at a bar, but that usually only happens when he's drunk

- speaking of which, drunk omi gets very emotional most of the time and will whisper slurred professions of his love in your ear, telling you how he doesn’t know what he did to deserve you and how lucky he is to have you </3

- he’s not always the best at showing it but omi loves you so so much, he truly thinks you're one of the best things to happen to him and he can't believe he actually gets to call you his <3

if chuuya was the one wounded, it’d be the same as what would happen when he’d use corruption.

dazai would carry him on his back, while chuuya would mumble incoherent nothings into his shoulder. stuff like:

“eh? who took my wine…”

*two seconds later, as realization hits him*

“DAZAIAYAA PUT ME DOWN 🤬!!”

a minute later he’d fall back asleep and mumble “mhm, you smell good.” and unintentionally brush his cheek against the back of dazai’s neck.

cue blushy dazai !! he is used to chuuya saying stupid shit while passed out, but every time he gets complimented—he just can’t help it 😭 he’ll just pretend to grumble and say “shut up slug 😶” and continue walking.

now, bandaging up chuuya is a different situation because he’ll have to be awake for dazai to tend to his wounds.

chuuya will be sitting on the bed while dazai brings a wash cloth to wipe off excess blood. it’s actually one of the few times he acts gentle with chuuya cuz he knows his body is in really bad condition :/

with a gentle smile, he’ll tilt chuuya’s chin up. “look up chuuya. i need to clean off the blood.” of course the redhead will be reluctant (he finds it a little strange how dazai isn’t cracking jokes) but he’ll oblige.

if chuuya winces from pain while dazai is dabbing his wounds, the brunette will immediately feel bad. even tho he’s witnessed chuuya getting hurt so many times, the image and history they have together always comes flooding back.

he won’t outright say it…he just feels a slight pang in his chest.

“…ow…that hurts, dazai.”

dazai looks chuuya in the eyes. he gently places his hands on chuuya’s cheeks, making the redhead look up. placing a soft kiss on chuuya’s forehead—he ever so slightly rests his chin on the redhead’s shoulder.

“i know. i know it hurts. just a little more. i know you’re strong, chibi.”

it becomes silent, because chuuya doesn’t know how to react to genuine affection from dazai (and neither does dazai tbh)

so they suddenly both feel awkward (even tho they’re boyfriends 🙄) so chuuya attempts to crack a joke.

“PFFFTT i’m not a little kid. just hurry up mackerel 😐”

“HAHAHA yeah. i’m hurrying up now.”

now if dazai was the one wounded, it’d be a whole different story. chuuya does get extremely worried, regardless of how he acts.

because he knows yosano won’t be able to help dazai. he really only has a human body.

with dazai’s arm over his shoulder, he’ll take the both of them back to extraction base.

“eh? looks like you’re the one taking care of me now, chuuya.”

“shut up. don’t waste your energy.”

“fufu…so worrisome you are~”

when he’s wrapping dazai’s arms in bandages, dazai is silent. almost too silent. but that’s fine because chuuya knows he is the only one dazai trusts with seeing his bare arms.

the two mostly stay silent, except for when chuuya speaks up.

“…does it hurt?” the redhead asks.

“no.”

despite his short words, dazai’s face tells a different story. his bangs seem to hang over his face and his eyes are red. when chuuya looks closer, he can see water on the brim of them.

chuuya gulps. he moves closer to dazai, gently holds the back of his head and pushes it into his chest. a gloved hand slowly runs its fingers through dazai’s hair. the brunette closes his eyes. it feels so nice.

“liar.” chuuya mumbles, the two still in a hug. dazai hugs back, his arms slowly grasp chuuya’s waist. he brings the redhead closer.

“thank you.” he quietly says.

he really means it though.

if dazai is badly injured, he definitely won’t be able to take care of himself (not like he does it on the daily anyways 😞) so chuuya will help him out.

stuff like help him bathe, cook him meals (or attempt to 😭), brush his hair, or help him change into new clothing. because he knows dazai really struggles with that.

“oya oya, look at this. chuuya wants to help me bath myself?—oh! and cook me meals too?! OH!! and help me with sleep as well?? WHAT IS THIS PHENOMENON—!!”

chuuya grabs dazai’s chin, making the brunette go silent and look up. the redhead cocks an eyebrow. he’s looming over dazai. “i’m literally your boyfriend 😐”

dazai’s face flushes a little pink, but he brushes it off with another remark. “fufu~”

they sleep in the same bed—or more like dazai is on top of chuuya, crushing him to death. the redhead is severely annoyed by this (false information btw 🗣)

“OI !! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? LET ME BREATHE godDAMN—”

“nope!! if chuuya wants to stay with me, i’ll just give him what he wants 😋!!” dazai wraps his arms around chuuya’s torso, making the redhead cough from lack of air.

“FINE FINE—but i can’t breathe, bastard!”

dazai only smiles, getting off of chuuya. when the redhead thinks he’s finally got room to breathe, he feels something go up his shirt.

it’s dazai !! he lifts up chuuya’s shirt and ducks his head under it. his face pops out of the top of chuuya’s shirt, making the redhead’s eyes widen.

“UM?? HELLO??—my shirt isn’t big enough for the both of us !!”

“aw, but it’s so warm in here! and you smell so nice…should i really leave?” he pulls out his brown puppy eyes. chuuya stares at him for a moment before letting out an obnoxious groan.

regardless, he runs his fingers through dazai’s hair, making the brunette rub his nose against chuuya’s neck. “yay~”

You know, now that I'm rereading CoB, I don't really get why Magnus easily shared his childhood story (about his stepfather trying to kill him) with the Shadowhunters 😶 like, we've always seen he doesn't really like to share his past, specially difficult memories, so I don't know what happened there, really 💀💀

Yeah, it does seem a little ooc, especially since Magnus is very private person.

But Magnus is also clearly more comfortable with sharing this particular backstory (along with the Peru stories) compared to anything else. His childhood story is the first one he shared with Alec in rsom, when he was still reluctant to talk about Asmodeus or even his past loves. Not to quote Shinyun, but he’s had a lot of time between then and now to have a ‘past’ in.

Also his outburst was mostly in annoyance at Clary, cause she comes off as very privileged-sounding in that moment, like that one Parasite meme image (no offence to her, she’s one of my favourite girls). That whole bit was kinda ehhh imo, but this was Cassie’s first book outside of fanfiction and she was probably crying in frustration over her manuscript while writing this scene so imma let it slide 😂
