I wonder if Spinel feels potentially threatened by Gibeon and Amethio's bond.. the way he phrased it, that Amethio is special to Gibeon and that because of this, he'd get in their way eventually, made me wonder if somehow, he needs Gibeon to keep going on the way he is right now and that perhaps Amethio could be a source of doubt to Gibeon.

Agate's words about blood ties that could lead to hardship now and then made me curious too. I feel like this could be a hint to Agate's circumstances and that she is not just describing Amethio and Gibeon's situation, but also her own. She's only said elusive things so far (back in HZ056, she talked to Dot about how some things are better left unknown and didn't elaborate further).

I wonder if Agate has some ties to the original Explorers? It also felt quite personal to Spinel too since he talked about the future of the Explorers. I thought this was only a job to him, but maybe this is going a bit deeper than that if he wants to ensure their future? He seemingly wasn't only in it for himself either, since he mentioned Amethio getting in "their" way (plural form, so it seems like he includes Agate and potentially the others too). The Explorers were Lucius's friends, but we still don't exactly know what that implies. Were they human friends, and were there several of them that could be connected to Spinel and Agate?

Also now that we've seen what the Rakurium can do to Pokemon, Gibeon's current situation is worrying. Man is constantly stuck in a room filled with Rakurium alongside Zygarde. Last time Amethio visited him, they were separated by glass and Amethio couldn't step in that room. I wonder if constant exposure to Rakurium messed up Gibeon on some level or had negative effects on him? His Zygarde seemed to be adjusted to it, so maybe they're both past the point of reacting negatively to it and are used to it. Or maybe it doesn't have negative effects on humans.

Either way, now that Amethio has seen firsthand what the Rakurium can do, I wonder if he'll still want to acquire more of it for Gibeon. He looked shocked when he saw how Spinel's Blacky reacted to it. Maybe he'll start having doubts, or at least question himself. There is the implication that Gibeon needs more of the Rakurium to live (maybe?), but it doesn't exactly seem to be a blessing either.

A lot of people have been speculating the whole rakua storyline might finish up this arc but i heavily doubt it. There’s a lot of flags that the rvt will lose, and that red button is definitely going to come into play- most likely so the kids can flee from rakua after losing. I don’t think the Explorers are going to win either though, most likely terapagos has to settle for just sealing the rakrium again, maybe lucius gets sealed up again? but it does seem like friede will, that shot from the opening has been getting more and more ominous. To me it seems like the goal for the next arc will be to get stronger and save Friede. It does seem like we’re getting a time skip based on ep89’s title and just how much the official twitter account is hyping up the news next week, so maybe it’ll end with them losing morale and deciding rakua is best left alone to not risk getting people hurt again. it’s definitely giving me owl house s2 finale vibes.

I also don’t think Gibeon will stop being the main villain just yet. Spinel seems to need Gibeon until the rakrium has actually been secured, and gibeon hasn’t been convinced to give up on it in the slightest. I think a focus for Amethio next arc could also be trying to understand Gibeon better so that he can find the right words to convince him? I don’t think it’ll be a simple ‘we defeated you so change your mind’, he’s way too stubborn for that. Personally I’m hoping to key to convincing Gibeon has to do with Amethio’s mother. I don’t think they would have brought her up and had her be on Gibeons side of the family if she wasn’t going to be important to him somehow. Amethio never got to know her, so maybe next arc he’ll go to the effort of learning about her and how she felt about Gibeon? To kill her off at an age where amethio couldn’t remember her feels very intentional to me- as if she needed to die so early on so that amethio wouldn’t know something important. She most likely also knew of the rakurium, and perhaps also disagreed with its usage. I just really like the idea of amethio carrying her feelings with him and using them to reach Gibeon, it fits the themes of horizons with its emphasis on understanding one another. I also just really want her to be relevant outside of being dead character angst, so her being key to stopping the main villain even after her death would be a good use for her.

I think they do intend for Gibeon to be convinced eventually. This is probably why zygarde sided with him despite everything- i think it knew that turning on gibeon here would just break him, if gibeon can truly be convinced and see reason then he can find peace and naturally let go of his obsession.
