Ziggy … how do you do it? I really love the community and many of the Yandere VN games but I just wonder how do you all do it? Like post stuff and share. Honestly I would like to share some of my thoughts and stories too but I’m too scared (I know that probably sounds redundant) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Honestly got no one to talk to about stuff like this, so it’s really refreshing to see blogs such as yours that are accepting and stuff plus got cool characters that we get to learn about!! And of course we get to interact with creators like you thank you ( … this last bit sounding like that PBS kids send off was not intentional ＿|￣|○ I swear )

If you're meaning how I do it like.. not being scared or nervous to? I separate online from real life heavily.... Literally NOTHING anyone says or does to me negatively online effects my real life... I post cringe and people make fun? Ok... I'm still here sitting in my room and chillin and nothing bad is happening

Do you think the results would be different if you mixed the generations together earlier than this? Rather than finding the best of each gen first?

Technically speaking, the only absolutely valid result from an elimination tournament is the absolute final one. You can't even find the second-place winner from the semi-finalists. (You have to run another tournament consisting of everyone who lost to the first-place winner.)

To this end:

I do think the first-place winners for each Generation are valid results*, but after the Inter-Generational Tournament is complete, w will only have 10 points of data: the best of each Generation, and the best overall. If we wanted to find the second-place Pokemon, we would have to go back to the Gen of the Inter-Gen winner, re-poll for our 2nd-place, and then return to the Inter-Gen and pit that against anyone who lost to our 1st-place winner.

So, if we really did just mix all Pokemon together, I do think that our finalists could look different! I'm sure the Generations also wouldn't be so evenly represented as they are here. I think there's also a good chance it would look different from tournament to tournament provided the seeding was different, even if the methodology is the same.

*Results are valid for this tournament and its following, and I've found over time that results are largely consistent and predictable once you have enough information (with some exceptions and prediction doesn't apply to close-matches). However, the following are potential confounding factors:

The earliest polls on this blog were voted on by a fraction of the people voting on the polls now. This could lead to a different set of results, and this does impact the tournament as it progresses.

Additionally, is my following truly representative of the Tumblr Pokemon fanbase? Or is it mostly composed of certain voting blocks?

I know for a fact that several polls had their results skewed because they were reblogged by blogs with a large fanbase. I am not sure if this necessarily invalidates though results, though

Seeding, of course, plays a strong role in what later layouts look like. (Remember, though, seeding is mostly there to keep the tournament interesting and to make the later rounds more balanced, but it shouldn't be able to invalidate a final result, provided that voting is consistent.)

Did I fail to rematch something that should have been rematched? (Notably, none of our Inter-Gen finalists ever rematched.)

I just finished watching what if, and I was wondering, what if the creeps never became The creeps? What do you think they would be?

Jeff - After living off of his parents for a while, he got a full time job at an animal shelter. He creates music on the side and has a handful of followers. He never talks to his family. He’s made his own between people he’s met online and friends he’s made in real life.

Liu - As the oldest, his parents pressured him into college. He pursued a law degree, and attempts to call Jeff often. Jeff always pretends to be working, busy, or doesn’t have his phone on him. He’s a lot more successful than his brother, being a popular lawyer and all, and even keeps in contact with his parents.

Jane - Became a healthy dose of a Government hired P.I. She’s amazing at her job and anyone from her childhood would never be able to recognize her. Jeff ran into her while she was stationed in her hometown for a brief moment. But she still hasn’t forgiven him for ruining her chance with Liu. It was nice to see him again. Maybe in another universe they’ll actually like each other.

Nina - She does fashion on the side, and hops from job to job, mostly in the fashion and makeup industry. She’s not quite sure where she wants to go in life.

Eyeless Jack - Carried onto pursuing his major as a surgeon. When the incident happened he was already in school, halfway through the path of a lifelong dream of his. After school, he’s one of the top surgeons in the state.

Ben - Just some dude in IT. He works for a cable company, and helps old ladies connect to the internet or restart their router from his cubicle. By the ghoul possessing his brain from the whole cult incident, it created a super-genius tech savvy ghost. But without it, he’s just some guy that grew up with an N64 and a love for computers. He also plays a lot of PC games, and has a discord of online friends. His best friend across the country works in an animal shelter and is free in the early hours of the morning.

Tim/Brian - Continued through college and lives a normal life on the daily. Brian has a major in film history, and Tim graduated with a psychology degree.

Toby - Lyra still ended up dying somehow, but as a less exciting meningitis case as opposed to a car crash caused by Slender. Toby still stood up to his father, and ended up escaping with his mom to a new life not too long after. He has a degree in childcare and works with kids, he also has a nice girlfriend that he’ll marry one day.

Kate - Full-time baker. After moving out of the woods of West Virginia, she moved across the country into a small city where a baker took her under her wing. She was taught how to bake, make coffee, and run a shop. They eventually fell in love and got married. :)

Clockwork - The baker. She opened a shop in the city to escape her abusive home. It was a hit with cute animal themed bread biscuits and cakes.

Laughing Jack - Technically he was an angel gifted to Isaac, but maybe in a normal universe he was part of a traveling circus in the 1800s. Maybe in a normal universe he kept his colors.

Lost Silver - A repair tech. He has his own little shop in a rather large mall. He fixes phones, computers, gaming systems, he’ll even dabble with lights and TVs. The shop doubles as a card shop where people can play retro arcade games and pokemon tournaments.

Jason - A Universal Studios imagineer. He has unlimited potential for his ideas, and has one of the best animatronics worldwide, sporting for $19.2M. A human-like animatronic, taking on the role of a puppeteer that controls small marionettes.

Helen - A quite popular self-taught artist on the east coast, but on the side he paints murals on the sides of buildings for businesses. He moved to America with his grandparents after the bullying in his homeland got too terrible to handle. His mother got the help she needed.

Hobo Heart - A pop-emo heart-throb of the Y2Ks. He got his heart broken and never let it go. Created a hit song about catching his girlfriend cheating and calling a cab, while he’s taking a smoke, and she’s taking a drag. And he’s going to bed and his stomach is siiiick, now she takes off her dress now-

Sally - Destroyed the monarchy and grew up to become the president of England. Achieved world peace. She still has tea parties. ALT: Became the CEO of a sock puppet company.

How To Make A Character For RP

I was asked and so I decided to write a guide on the subject. Sorry for the wait, and I hope this helps anyone who needs it who wants to get started in RP!

(Though this is for the Pokemon RP Tumblr community mainly, and thus will be written with that in mind, the basic gist should be good for any kind of RP you want to do!)

The first rule to keep in mind, the very first rule, the one that supercedes all others in character creation:

Have fun.

It sounds trite, but it really is the most important rule- You’re not going to want to write a character if you don’t enjoy the concept. If you aren’t having fun, then writing will become a chore, and that’s the surest and fastest way to make sure you stop.

(Obviously, what takes priority over even that is your RP partners’ comfort, but if you’re still creating a character, you’re probably not there yet.)

So, with that said! Let’s start with the basics:

Step one: Your basic concept

To start with, let’s come up with your most basic concept. It doesn’t have to be anything big to start out- It could be as minor as “a trainer who has a certain Pokemon”.

The key to this is figuring out what you want to play. Not just related to the abovementioned having fun, but also, figuring out what you want to play with helps narrow down ideas for your concept.

For example: Do you want to be an ordinary person just interacting with daily life things? Or would you rather be a special, major character? Would you rather keep to the tone and canon as established by your canon’s setting? Would you rather strike out and explore tones and ideas canon wouldn’t touch?

WIth Pokemon, there are several options you could try to build a character around- You could be a normal trainer, or not even a trainer, just a random person in a city. You could be a champion-level Trainer, or a protagonist on a journey. You could be a member of an evil Team, or even its boss. Or you could be even a person from another dimension, Fallen into the Pokemon world… or even a talking Pokemon yourself. Even Legendary Pokemon are allowed.

It doesn’t have to be anything special, either. For example, the original basic concept that became Sophora was “wouldn’t it be very silly for a veterinarian to try to give a Vaporeon shots. They’d just blorb.” And that was it! That was what I started with.

The sheer amount of possibilities does make this the most difficult, and probably most daunting, step. But once you get this down, the rest comes much easier. 

You may want to draw from yourself, to use your own experiences as a concept, or try to make something completely separate from you. Everything is personal preference! 

Step two: Refining the concept

So, you’ve gotten your basic concept- Let’s start with a basic example! Let’s continue with using my own character, Sophora, as the primary example. Her basic concept was “a veterinarian who has to deal with trying to give Pokemon shots.”

Once you have a basic concept, the next thing to do is ask questions. “Why does this person live in that city?” “Why does this Trainer only have one Pokemon, and that one?” “How did they get that Pokemon?”

From there, you’ll also want to consider other concepts you’ll want to play with. You don’t have to limit yourself to one basic concept, after all! I wanted to play with the idea of how normal people might get involved with evil teams, so this added two more concepts into the mix- “Former evil Team grunt” and “normal person”. From there, I remembered how Pokemon Special involved some Team Plasma grunts who genuinely believed in their mission, and then it squared itself easily.

Once you’ve put together all your concepts, you should be left with a fairly decent picture of a coherent whole- Your character, as they are in the present, in their current situation.

So, you have your character’s present circumstances, so you’re done, right? WRONG next category!

Step three: From concept to character

All you have right now are the character’s present circumstances. That’s not enough to start writing, and especially not enough to respond to other people. There are two major things you need to consider from here: Your character’s personality and their history.

Some people like to build one and then use that to inform the other, in either order. Some people like to build them both at the same time. I personally tend to start with personality first, then work backwards from there to determine history, but many people prefer the opposite. I personally find that it’s easier to start with personality and then work backwards to determine history, but some people prefer to start from the beginning with history and use that to inform personality.

Regardless, the effect is roughly the same. If you start with personality, think about what traits you’d find interesting and fun to play off of other characters. (Keep in mind for RP, you aren’t writing solo! You have to consider what you find fun to bounce off other people.) Then you want to think back to question what made them that way! This is similar to the ‘refining your concept’ stage, but it is much more detailed. If your character doesn’t trust people, why don’t they? Did something happen to them, or is it just a natural part of who they are? If something happened, what was it? If it’s just part of them, how did that affect things in their past?

You don’t need to have a complete play-by-play of every event in their life. But by working backwards, by connecting how one event leads to another, you can build a fairly coherent overview. The details don’t need to be filled in- They can be filled in later, in play, as things come up.

So, are you done now? Nope, not yet!

Step four: Play!

“Wait, but you just said we’re not done!”

That’s right. You don’t have everything you need- But here’s the secret: You will never figure out everything you need before you start playing. When you start playing, something unexpected always comes up. So don’t sweat the details too much. If you wait until you have every possible detail sorted out, you’ll never start playing. So it’s much better to just have the major points, the important stuff, and let the details get filled in as they come up.

Once you’ve really put a bunch of work and thought into characters, they have a way of coming alive and surprising even the writer. You may think your character acts or would respond one way, but when the event actually comes up in RP, they’ll react in a totally different way that surprises even you. Keep an open mind, and chase what’s fun and interesting!

With that in mind, you’re ready to start playing. Have fun, always be sure to check with your RP partners’ comfort, warn if you’ve got triggering content, and keep at it!

First one

Looks nice when using an ID to look similar to Persona 3. And since i have played Persona 3 Portable as well as for Persona 3 Reloaded, it would be cool for Murukir to bring Paul, Scottie and Bonn along since the three awaken their Pokemon with their Evokers. Charizard, Cinderace, and Machamp, and even Murukir's Pokemon, Jigglypuff. And for the four of them, they can go save the town from the Dark Hour and avoid having people suffer from Apathy Syndrome. Same goes when the Cartoon Network characters that wanted to do the same thing. For Paul, Scottie, Bonn and Murukir, then can call each other the Pokemon S.E.E.S. and we'll see if Pablo would like to help the four out as well.

Second one

Well since we did celebrate All Saints and Souls day, yesterday, my mom and i went to church after i had lunch, we went into a Cathedral and the weird part about the mass, there was no music. They didn't bring anyone to play the Organ or the piano. I mean the cathedral only has just a church Organ, then afterwards, when my mom and i went to a gift shop, then i spotted some stuff like DVDs and Statues. For the DVDs, i know they showed a DVD, but the DVDs were the Saints and Heroes Collections, all i found was Ben-Hur and the Race to Glory and St. Francis Xavier and the Samurai's Lost Treasure. But normally i do see a lot of Religion DVDs a lot every time i would go to a Religion store with my mom. And with the Statues, I spotted a Mary Statue of her being Pregnant, it was kinda confusing if i thought that was part of the story of the Nativity Scene, i know they did that in the Simpsons when they talked about the origin of Christmas. But if we did that with OCs in a Nativity story of Christmas, i'm sure we might find out. And it looks nice with Spot, Riya and Murukir in line color style since it does remind me of how Kirby's Epic Yarn was like, and i haven't played that game in forever. Ever since my sister and i got that game during Christmas time and after when my sister and i went to see a movie and when we saw Nintendo stuff going on at the mall during Christmas 2010.

Discovered The Mortal Instruments, Teen Wolf, and Once Upon a Time. There was a lot of crossovers between those three fandoms.

2015. Broke up with girlfriend. Had to find a different fandom because she very much got our fandoms in the divorce.

I've been here for three years. I can't think of anything that has brought me nearly as much consistent joy as this damn demon show.

(I don't know if I should dub November 7th or 8th as Hazbin Day because I watched it for the first time on the 7th (and remember everything about that day so vividly) but the brain rot really got me on the 8th.

Preferred roleplay type: Generally paragraph/multi paragraph. I love it when little one line dash commentary becomes full on paragraph / multi paragraph works of art.

For the general mood of threads? I feel like I dabble in a mix of things, but... I am fully aware that angst / hurt/comfort are my Bat Signal and if someone posts something in that vein I'll eyes emoji and drop everything to answer it.

Pet peeves & dealbreakers: Guilt tripping / vagueing for replies, vagueing that someone doesn't rp a character correctly... vagueing in general.

Dealbreaker? Acting as if you're THE portrayal of a character, not tagging common triggers. Trying to stir up drama.

First impression: i actually had skipped the battle subway in bw so when i played pla, my first impression on meeting ingo was "this guy is coded like a cameo from another game. not sure which one tho. anyway he looks like a stuffed animal that went through the washing machine by accident and i just know there is a certain sect of lesbians on tumblr who are going to want to put him in a bug jar." and i was right on all counts. i'm ngl my first emmet impression was probably largely based on fan content before i actually went back to see the canon stuff so it was mostly "damn, giratina (arceus?) should Not have separated these two"

Impression now: DAMN, THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE SEPARATED THESE TWO. ingo is my special lil guy who is duty oriented until it kills him and very competent and unreasonably polite which are all character traits that do in fact make me, personally, wanna put a dude in a bug jar. emmet is. my guy my man he's me he's my everything i'm incapable of talking coherently about him.

Favorite moment: gotta be the only time i have ever bothered to go through the hassle of exporting a whole video clip from my switch when ingo loses to the protag in your first battle. he is so happy about it... when else does he smile that genuinely... waaaahh...

Idea for a story: uh hmm the problem here is all my story ideas are in my pinned or my pitches tag lmfao. i guess one thing i've been rotating is it would be fun to do something else with the oop-canon thing where neither of them fully remember each other but also don't have a ton of spare time to interrogate the situation, bc i think it's a fun take. some other scenario where emmet doesn't even remember that they're twins, they're just both like, "alright, you look exactly like me, that's goddamn weird, but fuck it, we've got bigger problems so let's just work together for now." i like how quickly they fall into lockstep without knowing why. i think it's fun

Unpopular opinion: i know i've said it before but LET THEM KICK ASS! for real! they are hypercompetent pokemon trainers who also manage the cat herding business that is a subway system that doubles as legal wrestling tournaments. they're probably stronger than most gym leaders, if not the elite 4, just by virtue of how much battling they're constantly doing against such a variety of opponents. they're clever and capable of very quick thinking in a wide range of situations and very capable of both reading/understanding and guiding/managing others. they should not be losing to FUCKING WILD POKEMON in basically any scenario. they should be so hard for anyone in hisui to rattle bc none of this is NEW to them. they're just built different. also let emmet specifically be a competent adult i am on my knees begging you

Favorite relationship: can i say each other, is that cheating. i feel like that's a given. it's just good. they are on the same wavelength and ready to back each other up basically all the time and not even getting smote by god itself can change that. OTHER than that i'm a big fan of them w/ the surveyfam. lav and cyllene specifically i think they would all make a fun squad together. fuck, this is what i shoulda said for the story idea section. i want to expand on that like, 5 sentence thing from a while back where they were both in jubilife together along with the protag in a similar situation, bc i think that's a fun idea. kamado's headache is never going away ever again

Favorite headcanon: hmmmmm shit i have too many to choose. does asj qualify as a single headcanon or is that too expansive. oh, this is a random thing, but i still really like the idea that they're like, roxie's uncles or cousins once removed or something, through their birth family that they largely avoid interacting with other than a few people who are mostly chill. they're VERY different wrt personality but roxie's got this unexpected responsible streak when she's arguing with her dad, i think it makes for a fun connection.

How do you deal with tumblr? Tbh, how doed anyone deals with tumblr? I have seen so many blogs quickly bloom and die. So many early bronies just going on with their life as the hype died down. How does one deal with that constant loss? Or do i take such things to much for heart. I ask, because i will be afraid that after DrWhooves i will have nothing anymore that ties me to the bronie fandom..

Sadly it is the nature of the internet for trends to die, with the exception being Pokemon it feels like. I am still producing pony content even after Discord Whooves, just not as much on tumblr and a different medium (Radio play)

A lot of shows and games and whatnot that get a huge fandom end up eventually having just some stragglers left who even continue to bother making content for them. It would take an amazing comeback from the series to even get a fraction of that hype back up.

The best anyone can do is look for the stragglers and look for a new thing to grasp onto for a while.

A lot of people start fandom projects that they quickly abandon, it's rare for people to stay dedicated to a project. I've come to just expect things to never be finished from other people, it takes a LOT to be fully dedicated to something.

YES, she did, of course she did, you’re so incredibly right, argh, how did I not realize before that she’s the one who started all this! She’s the one who got him playing Pokemon Go, they’re both on Team Valor and, while Binghe is there, they rule their local gym (Tatsu doesn’t play and Masa is Team Instinct because he liked the gym leader’s style (I wonder why (stares at Masa’s hair))). Binghe’s enchanted by Pokemon purely because “OMG, Shizun would love this, Shizun thinks monsters are so cool, he would love a world where you get to tame and battle with monsters, I must share this with him as best I can!!!”

He does this by basically becoming a walking pokedex of pokeknowledge, watching an impressive amount of the anime, and also making his Pokemon Go avatar based on Shen Qingqiu instead of himself (partially so there can be at least one world where Shizun gets to experience this, partially so that, you know. He can be the one helping Shizun become the very best, like no one ever was, because Shizun deserves it-!!!). Pokemon Go tends to be the pokegame he plays the most, though I’m going to say he watches Miku play Legends Arceus a lot, because he finds the story both intriguing and relatable (in a way). Miku lets him play her save file from time to time to go shiney hunting, because Binghe has the best luck with shinies (I wonder why).

I think this might actually be the first thing that Binghe and Miku really connect over - he has a hard time figuring her out at first, just because she acts so differently from anyone he’s ever met before, in a lot of ways he doesn’t expect. Like, she doesn’t seem bothered by Binghe spending time with Tatsu-sensei? At all? Binghe’s only got eyes for Shizun, but it’s like she’s not even worried Binghe might try and steal Tatsu-sensei from her or something? And why is she okay with Tatsu-sensei spending time with Binghe when he could be spending it with her? And why is she being so seemingly friendly with Binghe? What’s her ulterior motive? What does she want from him???

Miku: I don’t want anything from you. Tatsu likes you and he could use some more friends - and you look like you could too.

Binghe: (nods politely, then spends as many points as he dares when he’s alone that night trying to get some explanations for what the heck’s going on)

Because, thinking about it, Miku’s going to, just by being herself, be a good example of how to be in a healthy relationship, same as Tatsu is. Yeah, they’re a slightly odd couple, but they’re happy together and comfortable in themselves, and, bless him, Binghe needs that in his life.

I think Binghe also gets into Animal Crossing in a big way. Fighting games just aren’t as interesting to him when he’s, you know, actually been the one doing all the cool fighting stuff, kind of a step down, but Animal Crossing? That’s such a Binghe game, making a beautiful home and island that you have complete control over? 10/10, he’s going to think of it wistfully from time to time when he eventually returns to his world.

As for fanfiction and shipping... hmmm... I don’t think he does, he’s engaged enough with web novels, the library, and other such things that he never manages to stumble across it. He does discover YouTube, however, and ends up watching a lot of self-help videos. Masa taught him the important things for internet usage: search functions, where to find the p*rn and h*nt*i, and how to pirate (Miku’s the one who helped him find the webnovels). With no knowledge to even conceptualize things like AO3, deviantart, or tumblr, Binghe just doesn’t stumble across them. And, frankly, that’s probably for the best, I adore fanfic, obviously I do, but the world does not need Binghe discovering The Tropes, that could-

...gods, this boy’s too smart, he’d probably use the trope knowledge he gained via fanfiction to try and get himself into Scenarios to get Shizun to notice and/or sex him.

Except then he gets home and discovers his stupid Heavenly Demon Blood makes him immune to basically Everything, sorry Binghe, gonna still have to ask for what you want in bed. Not that he lets this stop him entirely.

Side note, Shen Yuan starts actively avoiding anything potentially thorny, because his wonderful but accident-prone disciple keeps tripping into them and getting his clothes ruined, Binghe, please, think of all the pure and delicate maidens whose hearts you’re going to break by exposing them to your perfect everything-!!! ...though it is a little odd that it never seems to happen when he’s wearing his apron. Weird. Oh well, at least Binghe heals quick thanks to his demonic heritage...

10 Comfort Shows / Movies

Got tagged by @emeraldhazeart to do one of these? Thanks. c: Likewise I'm not going to do these in any order because I'd have to think a bit harder about it, but I'll try not to list (all of) my favourite movies of all time and focus on stuff I find comforting. 🌺

The Care Bears Adventure In Wonderland - I have to mention this one because I rewatched and rewinded it so many times as a child that the videotape got worn. Rewatched it again recently and realised I can still heavily relate to the film's 'Alice', so it left a lasting impression. Psps, this one's up on Youtube for free...

2. Come Outside - Another show from my childhood, which I haven't gone back to rewatch. It's sort of like a kid's version of how it's made with a sweet auntie figure and a mischievous but cute dog.

3. Wander Over Yonder - Okay so this is just leaking into my favourite shows, but I really like WOY. It's funny and visually stunning and Wander's optimism can be infectious.

4. Kiki's Delivery Service - I could put a lot of Ghibli films on this list, like My Neighbor Totoro or Ponyo or The Cat Returns, but I'm choosing Kiki because it spoke the clearest to me about being in a difficult place and sharing kindness with others - and without having as intense themes as something like Howl's Moving Castle or Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away, which I also like, but for different reasons.

5. Pokemon 4Ever - Hnngh I didn't even watch this one as a child. I watched it for the first time, like, last year. But it's really special and I love Celebi I can't even begin to describe it. Maybe it's because it's got that Pokémon Colosseum thing going on, I don't know.

6. Beauty and the Beast - Uh favourite Disney movie. Again I have a few of these. It good. Next

7. Come Dine With Me - I used to watch it a lot. I like cooking competition trash TV, sorry... This only wins out over Cake Wars because I'm pretty sure I saw more of it, but I love that too.

8. Poirot - One does not generally think of murder when one thinks of comfort, but this basically encompasses any and all murder mystery shows my grandma has playing on the TV when I go to her house. I haven't seen Poirot for a while, but I think he's my favourite of the main chracters I see on these things - and I don't get as riled up as I do while watching Doc Martin, Heartbeat or Father Brown!

9. The Way Of The Househusband - I think I watched all of what was available of this in one sitting when it came out, and I haven't really returned to it since ... but that's a lot more than I do for other shows. You've probably seen snippets of the manga on Tumblr. It's simple, it's one running joke, but it's a good one.

10. Wallace and Gromit - All episodes / films of Wallace and Gromit have a few intense and scary scenes for young children! But I would still watch them for comfort. There's just something reassuring and familiar about this man and his dog.

(5/5) alright! arc four! once all the alola stuff wraps up, cole+my guy are...still fired from aether, not that they'd want to be associated with aether now anyway. so it's time to develop a new research angle, and This time it's working with professor burnet to develop a way for them to safely traverse the ultra wormholes that nebby can create. and where does the first one drop them but hisui, over 100 years in the past! and initially they're just. out in the wilderness. and they're not stuck as long as they have nebby, so they could leave, but they want to explore a bit instead of just dipping out because they can't see any signs of civilization. so they do a little wandering+luckily, instead of getting Attacked by anything, they run into the pearl clan's favourite warden: ingo! this ingo is distinctly different from my other para of him; this one has been living in hisui for like. At least ten years. maybe closer to 15. and he only vaguely remembers his home+has basically resigned himself to the fact that he's never gonna see anything even remotely close to it again...until he runs into this little group of very-obviously-modern travellers+is like Oh My God. he pretty much assumes the lot of them are fallers right away+starts fussing immediately, trying to orient them+get them somewhere safe, while THEY'RE all looking at each other like "is it just me or is that a unovan railway uniform. where the hell are we?"

either way, things get cleared up+ingo is...somewhat disappointed to discover that they're not in the same situation as him, but also relieved because good lord nobody deserves that. and they tell him "well we're gonna stay here for a little for research because this place has got pokemon we've never even HEARD of, but when we go we could try+see if we can get you back home." initially ingo declines because he has Duties here, but he *does* accompany them when they go on research because he knows the land better+doesn't want this group of kids (read: roughly 17-25 year olds) dying in the wilderness. and it's during this, while watching everybody Be A Family from the distance, that it occurs to him "ohhh i see. I Miss Having A Family. Badly." and it's not just having a family, it's also having Anyone who really understands him. as much as he's settled into hisuian culture, he's still an outsider from another time. so when it comes time for everyone to pack up+leave for real, he decides (with a bit of regret) to abandon his post as a warden+come with. part of it is the temptation of being able to actually Go Home, but it's also because everybody else has genuinely grown on him+he doesn't want to lose anybody he feels close to again. Found Family Complete. for now at least.

...and THAT'S the story as it stands! this could go a few different directions; right now i'm playing omega ruby+depending on how much i end up thinking about it everybody could end up getting plunked in hoenn. there's also obviously if, how, and when an emmet/ingo reunion happens but nothing concrete has been worked out for that. i'm trying not to go "oh my god this is fucking long" for the 70 millionth time because you DID say you were interested so um. thank you for reading. i REALLY hope this all sends in proper order+tumblr doesn't eat any of these asks lmao but if it does i can resend any of them. again: literally had to draft this in a word doc. can you believe this is the Short version of all this. i swear to god this is meant to be more truncated. i'm not even going into the symbolism of everyone's pokemon teams or anything. did you know genesect is here? fucking genesect has been here the whole time

Oogh I put Ingo in Hisui for 5-7 years depending on how I feel but people who do 10+ make me incredibly sad

My Ingo has very similar complicated feelings about his Duties and life he's made in Hisui vs the want to go home when Akari convinces (threatens) Arceus to let them. He very almost decides not to leave. It also doesn't help that he has no memories other than a flash of Emmet's face and the vague knowledge of a fire type pokemon. He's afraid of what he'll find or what he won't find because he just doesn't know whereas Hisui is Known and Predictable (and he's autistic) but also also Hisui never felt like Home. He's always been an outsider no matter how much of the clan eventually accepted him

My Ingo and Emmet do get a reunion and I daydream it a lot

4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

Usually through music, but nowadays I've been drawing inspiration from hefty quotes on tumblr and comics where there's a certain Flavor to it that I really like and wanna try with my own takes.

8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?

The middle! That's where the meat of the fic is, and where my general creativity really goes loose and uncontrolled lol. You can bet that my excess writing collects in the middle and just continues to unravel from there. Beginnings tend to be rough, but once I get a start, I manage to keep on chugging.

Endings are where I really struggle. Don't- [grabs your face to look away at my incomplete but published fics] -don't look over there.

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

Oooohh so many. Granted, all of them tend to be centered around my and my friends' OCs, but the one I'm nursing right now is:

Clay (from Pokemon Black and White) has to deal with the grief and guilt of his younger cousin going missing (my OC, Rod, of whom you know), and processes it as healthily as he possibly can. Which is to say, he processes it poorly. There's blame tossed around and angry jealousy/envy towards another figure who's lost a family member.

Takes place just before Legends Arceus truly kicks off, but is set in that universe. I've actually been working on this fic for AGES, and it's only recently returned to bother me in the corners of my brain.

26. Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

GOD. I would have to say... "The Space Between". It was my first true horror fic where I pushed myself to really experiment with my writing. Building the atmosphere, figuring out how to word things just right to drive home the pure terror David was in was a struggle, but a well fought one! I remember putting myself in David's headspace and freaking myself out with horror stuff to get me to really feel and experience what David felt to properly translate the terror into words. I even thought about reading a Stephen King book or two to understand how to write horror! Needless to say, I didn't end up doing that LOL

After all that build up tho came the downhill climb from all that horror tension, which honestly is what got me put into a standstill. Like, how do you write a satisfying conclusion to all that build up? That's still something I need to work on for that fic, and one that's been nagging at me for ages. Hopefully, I'll figure something out. I know how it ends, after all.

55. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

...........r Od, my pokémon OC. loL. Writing my own OC has been a pleasure and a joy, just because I can put him into so many situations and throw him into so many AUs with my friends. But also, the biggest appeal of Rod is that he's my own character. I know who he is and why he behaves the way he does better than anyone else - his motives, his drives, his weaknesses. Not only that, but he's a character who can change and grow into something else! He used to be a cis man before my friends and I talked more and more about him until we realized... no, actually, he's a transman. He leaves so much room for experimenting, for discovery and building that it's so much fun to work with him! It's less constraining to work with him than with established characters, and it's also SUCH a breath of fresh air!

My friends DEFINITELY had some part in my choice to write about him. They all just... loved him so much??? Right from conception when he was nothing more than a sock puppet with googly eyes and a fishing pun for a name. They loved him so much that they all breathed the life into him, until I actually had something to work with.

And then they kept playing with him!! Lord did they play with him. So I played dolls with their OCs as well, and this interconnected world with OCs just kinda grew and expanded and became so much fun to explore that I just couldn't not enjoy writing fics about him and their OCs falling in love or being a family or struggling together. A lot of the fics I write of Rod tend to be shared only amongst my friends, but maybe... some day... I'll post something here.

68. What, if anything, do you do for inspiration?

Listen to songs in hopes of getting my writing spunk on. That, or daydreaming! Daydreaming scenarios really helps.

Hey there I don't know if anyone will see this but I wanted to try and do something that might be fun. I am a huge pokemon fan and I thought it might be fun to do a tumblr typelock challenge more details under the cut.

So the idea is that I'm going to put out a poll to determine the type of pokemon I can use. I plan to do the challenge on pokemon sword and post updates and maybe polls as I play.

The rules of the challenge will be that I can only use the type that is chosen or pokemon that evolve into those types (an example being drapion on a dark type run as even though it's first evolution is a poison/bug it evolves into poison/dark).

I may only use pokemon that I catch in that game and playthrough (no trading or pokemon home)

The only exception being that I may use my starter until I catch my first pokemon of the correct type.

I must name all my pokemon according to a theme that I will post a poll about after the type is chosen.

If my pokemon faints it is considered dead and I must put it in the box as soon as possible.

As I don't want to make this super difficult I am allowed to use exp candies but I must follow the same rules of pokemon allowed in battles for raids however fainting in a raid does not count as death.

The playthrough will be considered complete after Leon has been defeated (it would take to long if I had to do post game and dlc stories and I want to do a playthrough of each type.

Hi, I was hoping to ask for some advice but feel free to ignore this if you don't want to answer! I don't mind! Have you ever felt, over the course of posting on tumblr, embarrassed that people were reading your stuff? (Your posts are amazing though, so I can't see why but that's what I've been feeling.) Even though I love my sims and I love writing and sharing, I get embarrassed when I see people reading them and I don't know how to get over it 😅 I didn't know if anyone else felt this way, so I thought I'd ask. Sorry this took me WAY too long to reply to. I haven't been on my laptop much between NaNo and work and reading and Pokemon. It's a struggle to balance it all.

But onto your question! I'll answer below the cut since it gets kind of long.

I don't think it was ever embarrassment for me per se. It was more of a "oh god what if no one likes it" type of feeling which can turn into embarrassment of even posting it. If you crave instant validation, this is not the place for you.

By that I mean, yes, you get instant validation here, sometimes. Notes are not forever. Followers come and go. It is just the way of the internet in this fast pace grabby grabby for new content world.

But for the most part, just post what YOU want to post and other people will like it. Chances are you are not the only person in the world who likes what you like. It might take a while to find your people, but when you do, this place is a great place to be.

To properly find your audience, here are a few things you can do:

Interact with people who post stuff similar to yours! (Likes and Comments and Reblogs, oh my!)

Tag your posts properly so other people can find it!

And mostly, just do it for you. It's a little redundant but honestly if you are having fun then it will show in your posts!

My very firsts posts got like no notes. Seriously you can see that on my old blog. But I didn't let that stop me! I kept going and just posting the stories I wanted to. And eventually I found my people and the crowd who likes my stuff and here we are.

Truth be told Nonny, we're all playing sims and using tumblr, we should all be embarrassed. 😂 You cannot get more cringe than that.

If it does cause you stress to share that part of yourself, you do not have to! You can keep things in the drafts or change characters/events in stories so they don't line up so much with real life. Or you can use writing and sims to work through those things. It's all valid on the internet.

OOC Post

Aight y'all I didn't wanna have to post this but here we are.

Let's talk about: OOC-IC Divide, religion, and personal canons!

First and foremost: Just because someone posts about topics IC, does not mean it is the player's OOC opinion. But also! That doesn't give you the right to go ask about it OOC, either. Generally, politics, religion, and medical information are all firmly classified as "none of your business" and to be left alone. Just because someone's playing Lysandre doesn't mean they want to kill all humans, and just because someone's playing Giovanni doesn't make them a crime boss. If you wanna chat OOC with someone, that's your right! But don't go hassling someone on Tumblr over it.

Since my posts on religion ICly are what brought this up, let's also talk about personal canons!

I know a lot of people disagree, but in my personal take on Pokemon canon, Arceus is not and cannot be a 1:1 analogy to Christianity, for so many reasons I don't want to get into. Hell, the only characters who to my knowledge even for-sure know about Arceus are Volo and the PLA Protagonist. It's never really brought up or referred to outside of those times.

Don't get me wrong- I don't mind IC conflict. In fact, I quite enjoy it! But I was absolutely not expecting that post to turn into a huge thing. It was meant to be a comedic post- Sophora going that hard on not believing Arceus existed, while being objectively wrong about that fact. It was meant to be a goof. A joke. Fun.

I did not expect to get a bunch of people angry about it as though I was disparaging their OOC religions. By saying that a legendary Pokemon wasn't real. Y'all do understand the difference here, right?

There has been exactly one church seen in all of Pokemon and it is not known what it worships. Arceus is not mentioned by anyone to be worshipped at all, or even to be known about. Hell, in-universe, there's that statue in Sinnoh that's a weird fusion of Palkia and Dialga because people don't know about them. Arceus cannot be a 1:1 take on Christianity- In the first place, it's the creator god of a region based on Hokkaido and the Ainu people, not Christianity. Arceus came out of a primordial egg, and didn't create the universe in seven days. If you want to treat it that way in your canon, that's fine, but it's not the case in mine, where it's an obscure thing of myth and legend. Don't force your version of canon on others who don't want to play that way.

Any further asks on religion that do not make it VERY clear it's respecting the IC-OOC divide will be immediately deleted and blocked.
