Putting aside the carpeted sink shenanigans for a second, i believe an explanation for Chara and Frisk’s behavior is in order.

in order to do that, we have to go back in time a bit, when Frisk had just left the conceptual void.

“Why are you a ghost? You’re not dead… did I kill you!? I didn’t mean to!”

“don’t worry, you didn’t kill me. But I am dead. I have been for a while now.

“when you sent me to the conceptual void, I realized some things. First of all, I was a ghost. I didn’t understand why at first, since my body was still alive as far as I knew. But I thought about it, and I realized something.

“ever since i fell into the underground, i felt a kind of disconnect with the world. At the time i thought it was just a side effect of all the magic around. But there were still some things that didn’t make sense.

“why could I respawn like that? I didn’t have the most determination as far as i could tell. In fact, i had been told my whole life that my determination levels were below average.

“and why were you suddenly connected to me? It didn’t make sense.

“but as I was floating in the nothingness, pondering these thoughts, i noticed something strange. Code. Lines of code.

“now, there’s code everywhere in the void. It can be viewed from anywhere. You know this as well as I do. But this code looked different. As I studied it, I realized it was my code, and yours. And our code was somehow disguised to fin with the rest. Our code didn’t look compatible with this world.

“that’s when I realized. This world was never meant to be the way it was. When you tried to “fix” the code after our fight, you actually restored this world to its intended state.

“But we aren’t part of this world’s intended state. We’re simply the vessel the world created to fix it. That’s why my body is completely hollow, with a “determination” soul instead of an actual proper soul trait. It’s just a placeholder.

“I’m the vessel, and you’re the package. We already did our job here. That’s why the world kept resetting after we got an ending- because we didn’t do the job we were supposed to back then.

“The old world died when I entered the underground. I died when I entered the underground. And now we both need to move on. We don’t belong here. We need to let the world repair the last broken bit of code we left- my body.”

“…

“…so… we’re just some kind of Trojan virus?”

“A bug fix disguised as a Trojan virus, yeah.”

Again, colors are definitely off, but this time I used a picture that was weirdly warped for reference so the proportions are off too. Hooray.

Frisk and the recently introduced mystery human in chibi form. Chara doesn't get a chibi form because they aren’t technically part of STMtale’s code. To be fair, neither is Frisk, but that’s slightly more complicated, as they still get a chibi body despite this fact. Explaining why that is would spoil the ending though. ;)

I for some reason decided to give Petal shading. No idea why but it turned out cool so i’m not complaining.

Oh that rhymed

Anyway, have some chibi sprites.

Cannonacly, there is no chibi Sans, but I wanted to make Neue a sprite and I don't have any reference images of him ready, so here’s a chibi Sans instead.

MK was actually surprisingly difficult to convert to chibi form. In order to convert sprites to chibi form, I scale down the sprites and then clean them up and make them smol. MK’s sprite has a really big head, which is a problem since it makes the rest of their body extremely tiny when you scale it down. I tried basing the chibi sprite off of MK’s in-game sprite at first, but I realized that if I did that, it just ended up looking awkward. So I had to base the sprite on the design I use for them. It ended up looking sufficiently cute, though.
