First time I saw the scene I had issues with the perceived lack of passion. They have been building the tension between them and I tought that the most evident way of resolving the conflict was with passion. It was not. It was with reason.
Revisiting the scene after taking all my expectations out of the equation gives me back its beauty. Do I wish it had been argued a little more? Yes. Do I wish Fina had allowed Marta to explain herself better? Yes. But, as far as it goes, the scene has everything that we need. Fina's authority, which will always have to be the pillar on which Marta rests. The confrontation of Marta's fear. Reminding her of how things were before Jaime arrived and how they can be again now that he is no longer an obstacle. Marta's inability to deny her love for Fina. And Fina, always Fina, the wonderful Fina who wants to be happy "pese a quien pese". The way she enters the office, a woman with a mission, and the way she controls the whole situation is admirable. There could be no passion here. There could only be reason. Marta was too fragile for that fire and Fina, knowing her, loving her, offered her the promised cariño with which to fight fear.
Passion will come and it will be very interesting to see how they return to each other's skin. How long will Doña Marta resist? Fina won't make it easy for her...
From the conversation with Jaime, I liked that Marta mentioned fear again. It will continue to exist and I think the interest of the plot from now on will also lie in seeing how Marta masters it and overcomes it.
I think our initial disappointment with the scene is linked to the need for emotion after so much suffering. But, thinking back, all the difficult conversations I've had about love - some that have determined the future of relationships - haven't ended in bed. After conversations like that and fights like that, there's a process of rebuilding that has to be done, of getting closer and of discovering the other person again. Someone said on Twitter that this was the start of a new relationship for Marta and Fina. I like the idea and I especially like the fact that this implies a new period of mutual seduction.

Diablo Ballena
Diablo Ballena, also known as the Moster of Lake Tota, is a creature from Colombia. According to the earliest sighting, described by the conquistador Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, the Diablo Ballena is a black fish, larger than a whale, and with the head of an ox. It has also been described as "a monstrous fish", "a black monster", "the Dragon", and as a "divine animal archetype".
In 1676, the Colombian priest and historian Lucas Fernández de Piedrahita, presented his General History of the Conquest of the New Kingdom of Granada: the SCRM d. King Charles II of Spain and the Indies, as requested by the Bishop of Santa Marta. In it is this statement on the Diablo Ballena:
"Quesada says that in his time, trusted persons and the Indians affirmed that it was the devil; and for the year six hundred and fifty-two, when I was at the place, Doña Andrea Vargas, lady of the country, spoke about having seen it.”
In the book The Journey of Gaspard Théodore Mollien by the Republic of Colombia in 1823, Mollien describes his plan to visit Lake Tota, and “the evil character inhabits its depths in dwellings”. He goes on to say that there was “a monstrous fish can be seen only briefly”.
Another account comes from the book The Pilgrimage Alpha for the northern provinces of New Granada in 1850-1851, in which Colombian writer, politician, teacher and journalist Manuel Ancízar talks about a similar creature in Lake Tota, calling it the “freshwater devil”.
There are also references to this creature from the Muisca, an indigenous people and culture of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense, Colombia, that formed the Muisca Confederation before the Spanish conquest. Stories of the mythical origin of Lake Tota mention that “Monetá", an indigenous priest, was preparing the "already extensive and powerful Muisca Confederation" to "exorcise the cruel and evil spirit, Busiraco" in the lake. A ceremonial spell was performed against the Busiraco, of Diablo Ballena, in hopes to resolve a summer and water shortage believed to be caused by the cryptid. It should be noted that there is a difference in description from the Muisca, claiming the it is, in fact, a large black snake rather than a fish.

And for my father to have trusted me... Fina: But does that mean...? Marta: That we’re smoothing things over. Fina: Oh my God, Marta! You have no idea how much you deserve all of this, truly.
