A/n: hii! Okay so I saw someone post that this would be a great image! So I decided to try it, (or course with permission)! So hope this is great!

Info: Basically the reader is Carmillas youngest child, and is trying to learn how to use those shoes Carmilla has as weapons. Readers genderless so this is for everyone! Reader is between the age of 9-12

By the way I tried to make all the Spanish words masculine since it goes for all genders (usually)

Your mother, Carmilla Carmine, was an overlord dealer of the angelic weapons. Which also meant she was pretty much trained to use all the weapons she makes. Your older sisters, Clara and Odette, were also trained, not as much as your mother but still enough to defend themselves.

You ok the other hand, no. You being the youngest of the family made her more protective over you, even not letting you go to close to the weapons. It did make you feel left out.

Your sisters knew how to use the guns and some of the daggers, but those were never really your true interest, it was those ballet shoes your mother wore. Once your sisters told you what your mother did to that exorcist during extermination day with her shoes, you immediately thought it was cool.

You wanted shoes like that. Maybe some like your mother. Though you knew she’d never say yes, it was dangerous, or so you thought she’d say no.

Right now, you snuck into the room where she stored all the weapons. Cases of guns and daggers lined up neatly on the shelves, bullets on all the racks. You’ve never been in the room before, your mother never let you.

You started to look if there were any other shoes that your mother could have. You found some boots with them, they weren’t your size though, you were a kid and most of these clothes and weapons weren’t designed for children. You sigh as you keep looking.

Carmilla just so happened to be walking by to do a daily check on her progress, and you tensed and froze. I’m instinct, being the child you were, you hid. Hiding behind a large shelf that probably wasn’t a good idea to hide behind.

Carmilla walked in, her steps sharp and you could hear your mother’s steps. You hold your breath as she checked the room and weapons that were shipped in. You sighed in relief when she walked over to another area in the room, leaning over a little, but that made the shelf shake…and then it fell. You gasp and froze as the shelf crashed onto the ground.

Carmillas head snapped over to where the shelf fell and saw you. Her eyes narrowed as she walked over. “[Name]? What are you doing in here?” She asked in a stern voice, keeping herself from yelling or raising her voice at the fallen weapons and broken shelves.

“I-uh…” m, You struggled to speak. Carmilla stood up straight and crossed her arms, narrowing her eyes at you and waiting for you to speak up. You sigh and stand up, your head down. “I just wanted to…learn how to use angelic weapons too..like how you and my sisters do..” You say softly.

Carmillas expression softens as she looks down at you and sighed. “Mi amor, do you truly want to use these? They’re dangerous and I’d hate for you to get hurt.” Carmilla said stern but soft.

“Pleeeeeeaaaase!! mamá I really want to! I’ll do anything” You beg your mother and gave her some puppy dog eyes to add to it. Carmilla let out a soft smile and held a hand out.

“If that’s what you want mi corazón..” You smiled back and took her hand. “But, if you want to use the angelic weapons, clean this up. Now.” Carmilla said more stern, pointing to the fallen weapons and the broken shelves.

You chuckle nervously and nod. “Yes mamá” you say and picked up all the angelic weapons. While your mother stayed and watched. She began to ask you a questions.

“Corazón? Which weapon would you like to use?” She asked you gently.

“Hmm? Oh! Uh, I was wondering if I could be taught how to use…shoes like yours?” You rubbed your arm, slightly embarrassed to admit.

Carmilla smiled softly at the response. Clara and Odette never wanted to learn how to use their legs to fight, they preferred blades. Her heart warmed at the thought of her youngest child taking after her. “Of course Mi querido, though I may have to make some of your size. So training will not begin so soon.”

You mentally sigh at that, you wanted to train right away, but knew you’d have to wait. You nod and smiled sadly. “Okay mamá..I can wait.” You say. She came over and pushed up the shelf for you.

“Thank you mi amor” Carmilla said and ruffled your hair a gently with her large claws. You giggle softly and finish putting the weapons in their places.

It took about 6 days for the shoes to be made, mainly since Carmilla wanted them to be more durable for you. She came and got you from your room. “[Name]? I’ve got you a surprise” She smiled and sat on the bed next to you, smiling softly with a box in her hand.

You smile and sit up, sitting next to your mother as she handed you the box. You open it and gasp and smile when you saw the same styled ballet shoes inside. They were like your mothers but just a smaller size. “ay dios mío- thank you mamá!!” You hugged your mother by the side and she smiled back.

“Of course Mi amor..now why don’t we try these on? And we can start practicing if you’d like.” She offered with a smile. You practically bounce up and down as you nod excitedly.

“Yes! I’d love to!” You just to your feet with the box, pulling the angelic shoes out and tossing the body on the ground to clean up later. Carmillas heart warmed up from how excited you were to use and train in those shoes, taking after her rather than using the more dangerous weapons like guns.

You both walk down the stairs, in the middle of the purple room. You looked around and smiled. Carmilla smiled down at you. “Alright [name], let’s put those on and I’ll teach you some ways to use them. But you must listen alright?” She spoke stern but soft.

You not and smile, putting the ballet shoes on (with a little help from Carmilla since you were struggling with the ribbons), and they fit snug. “Okay! I’m ready to kick some a-“ you stop your words when you saw Carmilla glaring at you softly for you almost cussing. You nervously laugh and calmed down.

Carmilla walked over and started to speak. “First of all, let’s get you better adjusted to walking in them. Stand on your toes.” She commands you gently. You nod and attempt to stand on your toes, though you only lasted about 2 seconds. “Try again.” Your mother stood near you, more firm now”

“Dang it..” you grumble softly as you failed again. Repeatedly, you fail over and over again, your mother demanding you to keep trying and trying. “This is too hard..” you complain a little as you became more and more frustrated.

“Patience Mi amor..you’re doing well..just keep trying. It’s all about practice.” Carmilla encourages softly and sternly. You nod and take a deep breath, trying again.

After a while you were able to hold yourself up for about a minute straight, you smiled and looked at your mom. “Look! I’m doing it!” Carmilla smiled softly at you and walked over.

“See? I told you that if you practice you’d get better..now try walking to me while standing on your toes.” She encouraged. “Like this” she walked across the room with ease, she held her arms out. “Soon you’ll be able to walk normally in them. And when you master that, I will teach you how to fight with them.”

You nod and smile, trying to stay motivated. You started to walk to your mother. Though you failed a lot, standing on your toes were hard, walking across the room on them…oof..even harder. But you did have you mother to encourage you along the way. You kept trying and trying and eventually did it, and you celebrated a little.

“Good job [Name]. Now we will practice more and more everyday. Just be patient alright my dear?” Carmilla told you, giving you a smile of approval.

“Yes mamá, I understand.” You smiled back excitedly.

“Good..then i will expect you to be wearing those all the time around the house to practice.” She nods and ruffled your hair gently, walking away to do her duties.

You smiled and nodded at your mother. “You got it!”. You were excited to keep practicing, you were determined and motivated to train and impress your mother. You knew it would be long, but it would be worth it.

Voiceplay Visuals: Drunken Sailor

Man I've been waiting to get to this one!

Drunken Sailor was uploaded on the 12th of August, 2023, and like the other pirate-themed video Voiceplay did akmost two years prior, it features Jose Rosario Jr! It also features Matthew Buckner (aka "Bucky") in an acting role, as the "drunken sailor" that Voiceplay sing about. "Bucky" used to be a vocalist in "4:2:Five" for a while (iirc), and he's good friends with Geoff, and even helped with the choreography for Geoff's Monster Mash video! Just like Hoist The Colours, both the arrangement and video were done by Geoff (who also wrote an original bridge for the song! (genius that he is)), and he also co-directed the video (with Tony), and worked together with Eli on lighting design. This might be one of those posts where I get close to the picture-upload-maximum and have to start counting them just in case, but still, it would be for good reason! So let's go!

I'm not sure if any of the group are wearing any of the same clothing pieces they wore in Hoist The Colours (I did a brief bit of visual comparison), but Jose, acting as the captain of this "ragtag motley crew" once more, is pretty close.

Voiceplay said in the comments (in a reply to someone) that "there were a few different takes of this shot, and this was the one where it looked the MOST like Layne was gonna burst into flame." I think they nailed it 😝😁

"Stick him in a scupper with a hosepipe bottom!"

Firstly, it sounds at least like Cesar is singing "hosepipe bottom", but the original line is "hosepipe on him". And despite what Cesar is implying with the wooden toilet seat, the line has nothing to do with toilets or bathrooms. A "scupper" is "an opening in the side walls of a vessel or an open-air structure, which allows water to drain instead of pooling" (according to Wikipedia). Ships have scuppers at deck-level, to allow for rainwater and/or seawater to drain off. So basically the line about "stick him in the scupper with a hosepipe on him" is about spraying the drunken sailor in question with a hose[pipe] (to try to sober him up with a dousing of cold water), in a part of the ship where the water can easily drain away afterwards.

Yes, that doll is definitely creepy, and I have no clue where Geoff got it from or what gave him the idea, but, according to Geoff in the comments section (comment from Voiceplay's channel, but it was almost definitely him who wrote it): "Her name is Clara and SHE HAS FEELINGS!" 😅

Also, the line "put him in the bed with the captain's daughter" probably isn't actually meant to be taken literally either. The main consensus that I've seen online is that "the captain's daughter" actually referred to a cat-'o'-nine-tails whip. (Not talking about the vocals or arrangement, I'm talking about song background/context! Which I've done before!)

This cover is utterly fantastic - all the silliness of "Classic Voiceplay", with the serious skills and high-quality video production of "Modern Voiceplay"! The video is hilarious, the cover is ridiculously creative, and really it just highlights all of the things to love about each person in the video, visually/performance-wise and vocally!

Not many Voiceplay videos left for me to make posts about now, but there are certainly still ridiculously-amazing things to come, so stay tuned!

So, something that always got me conflicted- at least until recently where to be frank I'm too exhausted to care ( 2 jobs would do that to ya) is me being a kind of mono-shipper in DW Fandom. Like I do like other ships for the Doctor- like the Doctor with Rose, or Clara or the Master- but except with the Master and Martha where i think of scenarios for them-I mostly like these ships in regards to the impact they had on the Doctor- characteristization wise.

Tbh, I mostly ship him with River- surprise surprise, lol. I think it's because of the intrinsic tragedy with them. Also, because I imprinted in River- whoops.

I think with River and the Doctor- especially if you take the audios as Canon ( and I do take some of them as Canon in my head but not all)- we keep having these instances of how their life could be. Ex- with River and Four and them knowing each other all their lives. Or Nine and River- caring and watching each other grow old- reaching an understanding and being valunarble with each other ( something that is helped with River being a bit younger in the boxset. At least in my opinion. Would it be OK if I send you a ramble ask about the difference between Older!River and younger!River in my head?)

But, yeah- fate said otherwise for these two- their story is what it is and I think that's make me like it so much. Because it could have gone differently, they could have rewrote time, but over and over they chose this life. They chose each other- no matter how much it hurt.

But at the same time- the pessimistic, analytic part of me kept thinking of the fact that even of River chose that life with Four or Nine for example- they both came with too much cost. With Four, countless planets were destroyed including planet Earth. River lost friends and her family and now she probably has the guilt of all those deaths on her hearts. And the Doctor too would have ended suffering. And with Nine- well, they wouldn't have been able to be together even if they wanted to- the paradox would have been too big.

I'm kind of thankful River doesn't remember that timeline tbh- cause it probably would have been bittersweet for her- more bitter than sweet.

Hi!!! Sorry if you don’t see this (what with not getting notifs on anon, and it’s been waaaay too many months to still be checking my blog to see if I’d responded), but!! Thank you for the wonderful ramble ask! I loved reading it!

While I am somewhat of a multishipper (okay, mostly for yowzah and thoschei also), I heavily relate to more enjoying certain ships from the context of the character impacts, more so than actually (passionately, emotional-investment-wise) shipping them. I love to peer at these lil characters under that more detached analysis microscope and study how each of these relationships crash and burn. For the angst! Because I love them.

*I, too, see audios I like as canon (Missy+Monk) and ignore the ones I dislike (the Lumiat)!

Oh, those audios with earlier Doctors do add a lot to the time-tangled nature of the Doctor and River's star-crossed (heh) marriage (make it even messier, bloodier, tragic-er).

Yeah, like?? From the start. The Doctor does view most people he keeps closest like pets, because it’s safer to have that dynamic — but River never lets him view her in that way, because she knows his name, she's got more information than he does — and yet he goes against everything that's familiar to him, and decides to trust her, and learn more about her (leaving the diary, to embark on a future he has yet to live). Likewise River does see the Doctor for the dangerous, ancient beast he is — and starts out intent to kill him for it, because her whole life was orchestrated for her to hate him and bring him down — but he's also kind, and yet she goes against everything that familiar to her, and decides to save him, and learn more about him (right now it's off to archeology school!). They both take risks for each other from the jump, go against some crucial drive of themselves the day they meet each other — and as they come to know and love the other, the risks keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger (until the universe begins to quake).

Yes, the way they are tragedy is an inspiring way, and they fought for their love, against time itself…

That’s what makes the lifetimes River spends with Nine or Four as you said — or even that boxset where she travels with Five for a minute — so fitting, conceptually? Even if the show wasn’t written with pre-ten Doctors in mind. As the Doctor and River fight Time itself to be with each other, time can’t help but give them glimpses of what they could’ve had, in another life.

[there’s probably something to say here about the conception of Time that we see in Flux, but I’m not sure I’ve got it right now]

And the pessimistic, analytic part of you, is — yeah. They both fight for a future they want and can’t have. Time wouldn’t survive their happiness. (Do you know The Four Doctors comic? The Doctors are caught by timelines in choices each of them almost made, and although we don’t spend long in that universe, for the Eleventh Doctor, it’s the Wedding of River Song timeline. He had almost decided to let time die to be “linear” with River. That comic tells us Eleven was SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING IT. He almost let time die around them to live with his wife.)

I am also glad River didn't remember her future with Nine to be honest, it would be too much to give up 😮‍💨

Anyways! There was some rambling from me! I don’t know if you still want to send a ramble ask about the difference between Older!River and younger!River in your head, after this amount of time, but I love ramble asks about River and the Doctor!!! ^-^

Victoria - 4 years on

Today (May 12) marks the fourth anniversary of the first UK broadcast of the 3rd season (and possibly series) finale of Jenna Coleman’s Victoria in 2019. It’s amazing it’s been so long!

Of course Jenna has gone on to other work. As the season was finishing up on ITV, she was co-starring in a West End revival of All My Sons. A few months later she’d be in Thailand shooting The Serpent. Then of course C19 arrived (hard to believe, less than a year after Victoria aired!), and after a pause Jenna ended up in The Sandman, Klokkenluider, and other projects.

Is Victoria finished? Wikipedia’s page has it as cancelled, citing a statement by ITV dated from 2021 that there were no plans for a 4th season. I recall one article saying further production was unlikely due to C19 (which would technically put Victoria in the same company as GLOW and a few other series ended due to the pandemic, even though most other shows continued production). Daisy Goodwin, the show’s producer and writer, posted on Instagram sometime in 2019 that she’d written scripts for Series 4. And, of course, Series 3 (spoiler alert) ended on a cliffhanger.

There’s still hope that the show might return, perhaps as a one-off special. Yes, Jenna and Tom Hughes are no longer a couple - but there’s certainly precedent for exes to continue working together in TV and film, so that’s not necessarily a barrier. There’s certainly no time limit involved - Jenna could return to the role later in life quite easily (much as Judi Dench has done); in real life, Albert didn’t die for real until a decade or so after the events covered in Series 3.

But the fact remains Jenna has moved on. Maybe not into something ongoing (even Sandman S2 might only entail another one-off story, she won’t in in every episode, and The War Rooms is looking to be the TV equivalent of vaporware), but being tied to a TV series might have prevented her from taking on things like Jackdaw or the Lemons play - or whatever she might be doing next. She probably has no burning need or desire to return to Victoria (maybe not to the same degree she appears to be disinterested in reprising Clara Oswald), other than maybe the fact the series leaves viewers hanging so it’ll always remain a bit of “unfinished business” in that regard.

Her co-stars have also moved on. Nell Hudson is now a novelist; Margaret Clunie has been doing mostly independent films; Tom has been in several TV series and movies over the last couple of years.

But what we did get were 3 seasons (plus a Christmas special) of surprisingly light-hearted romantic drama, Vicbourne, Vicbert (I forgot the ship name), Jenna in nearly every scene, plus some great co-stars including Margaret and Nell, Rufus Sewell, and of course fellow Doctor Who-franchise veterans Tommy Knight and Eve Myles and, lest we forget, Diana Rigg also popped in for a visit when she wasn’t poisoning Joffrey Baratheon! LOL! I miss the show but am thankful we got what we got!

LEMONS SURPRISES

it was a cold breezy night in london, not for jenna and aiden of course! they had both only just finished their play called LEMONS(x5). clara and aiden bowed in front of their great audience “thank you!” yelled aiden, jenna had also yelled “have a great evening!” the curtains slowly began to go down as the audience whistled and clapped their hands together.

jenna and aiden went back stage, they had a few laughs together then went back to their dressing rooms. Jenna had a huge room, she was fixing her short blonde hair “what a mess..” she thought to herself “i dont even have much time left because i have to sign people’s posters and stuff” jenna was clearly tired from the show but she did whatever to make her audience happy. Jenna quickly put on her long black coat until she had two loud knocks on the door “come in!” called out jenna, it was one of the workers backstage, she turned around to look at the worker “yes?” the worker leaned his head against the door and said “there’s someone waiting for you, by the name matt” jenna looked confused “matt..” “matt!?” she exclaimed “but why would he come-“ jenna was speechless, actually she was too speechless. “Tell him I’ll be there in one moment!” the worker smiled and shut the door. Jenna began to brush her hair and fix her red lipstick, still repeatedly thinking “why is matt here?” “as in matt smith..the eleventh doctor!?”

eventually jenna looked better than before, she rushed out her room and noticed matts profile from the back, she’d never forget how tall he was compared to her. Matt didn’t notice jenna but she began to run towards matt, he was wearing a black hoodie, jeans and glasses “MATT!” jenna shouted. Matt heard jennas voice he turned around, this reminded him of when they were filming doctor who jenna used to trot around matt (matt actually said this just search what matt smith and jenna coleman will miss the most!!) “jenna!” matt exclaimed. Jenna jumped onto matt for a hug “what are you doing here?!” asked jenna as matt put her down “oh i just decided to surprise you after how many years..” “10 years” Matt’s face widened, pure shock! He began to slowly touch jennas face to see if she was actually real “10?! GOODNESS JENNA YOU STILL HAVE THE SAME FACE” matt yelled. Jenna mocked what he had just done to her “Boy you havent changed too” replied Jenna as she began to giggle, matt had the biggest smile “we definitely need to catch up on a few things” “y-“ jenna was cut off as she was told to go outside “wait there doct- matt! I just need to do this” Jenna began to walk off outside as matt watched her leave him again.

Jenna finished off giving her autographs to her fans who watched the show “sorry about that” chuckled jenna “it’s fine it’s fine” replied matt “so do you want to go out?” “excuse me?” giggled matt “no! as in to a cafe!” Matt nodded, jenna & matt began to sneak out of the theatre without paparazzi’s trying to take pictures of them and cause scandals again. The both of them had sunglasses on to hide their identity, they reached a cafe nearby luckily it was empty and just small. I tried just going for the Doctor, not for any plot but sometimes it was hard to separate haha. I do think I kept the intertwining. At a minimum though! Drumroll please……

As for NUMBER 1: The man. The icon. The TENTH Doctor.

Counting the children in needs episode I think he‘s the one who gets the most silly regeneration time (also since there is practically no time jump between regenerating and the story whereas for the others, at least SOME time has passes or is skipped pretty soon afterwards

1) Who was your first ever OC? Do you still "use" them? How have they evolved over time?

Aww this is a treat! My first ever OC was a HC’d lovechild between Kisshu and Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew. Her name was Claire Momomiya and I adored her like nothing else. Even so far as to making a silly little comic book with a school friend. The writing was atrocious and very cliche middle schooler wattpad weeb. 🤣 So you know, grossly cringe. Ugh since then Claire is still used be she is completely separate from her original counterpart. She now goes by Clara and has matured a great deal. Although I don’t use her anymore, she is still such a memorable and precious OC that she will never be discarded. I will find something for her one day.

2) Who is your newest OC Why did you make them?

Yvette is my newest oc! I made her shortly after I started playing God of War and saw Tyr’s design. After hearing what a gentle giant he was, and then seeing him in Ragnarok, I couldn’t help but be smitten. That and comparing my own height to his. 😳 He’s such a sweet, wise soul whats not to love though? Even if he is a bit of awkward giraffe lolol. Between that and general simping gutter brain, I wanted to give him someone to love and be loved by. But not by me lmao. No self insert here. But uhh my gutter brain was strong with this one because size difference make brain go brrr. And somehow these became the horniest, most mature, yet sweet canon x oc ship I have to date. Whoops?

3) Biggest self-insert OC?

OOH! That would be my sweet pea, Faline! Closest tie with her would be Florence. Although both are actual self inserts. Faline has been my longest standing Self-insert (going on 2 years soon) and one that holds most of my similarities. Including my height, build, my autism, my not-so-great childhood, trauma, and mental health. Genuinely v little difference between her and I.

6) Do you have any OCs without stories? Will you ever create one for them?

I mentioned it before but Clara is currently the one without a story. Although I’m not quite sure if you’re talking actual physical written & completed story or just a general background. I’m assuming the latter, but please correct me if I’m wrong. I will eventually give Clara a proper story, but for now she is content seeing me bond with my other OCs.

9) Favourite OC?

Oh my Gods, Nemo; how can you ask me such a thing? 🤣Just kidding I can actually answer this. My beloved Claudia is my favorite. She was such a treat to create. To go from a minor character made to push a plot point, to then being one of my biggest muses, she is a gem and a half. She is as complex as she is beautiful, and I look forward to continue creating stories for her and Darius.

13) Which story has the most lore?

Oh Gods “Saints & Sinners” by far. Ash and I have spent almost two years developing that universe. It initially started off as a silly “what-if” thing but now we have a whole world, timeline, rules, deities for every basic thing, A deity hierarchy system, Soul-bondings, rules for said deities, the reset system, etc. it used to only focus on four characters, now its expanded to following 8. 4 couples, all soul-bonded deities. It’s an incredible experience.

20) What story are you the proudest of? Why?

Hmmm probably “burn scars” as of right now. Its still in the works but its pushing me out of my comfort zone to deal with more graphic, emotion-heavy scenes. Trying to capture something like that is not easy, but considering it’s such a crucial part in Darius & Claudia’s timeline I am determined to get it right.

What are your favourite movies?

I’m not much of a movie person in general but the ones that have higher chances of holding my attention are animated films. I’m the worst when it comes to watching films. Its like pulling teeth to get me to do.

Team M polycule (especially Shamrock/Tsubaki) from Servamp- I am soooooo Normal about team M polycule, completely and utterly normal I promise! (also your fics rev were what got me into shipping Shamrock/Tsubaki)

Twelfth Doctor/Clara from Doctor Who- I have so many thoughts about these 2, they are perfect for eachother in a way where they need to be separated for the sake of the world. They are too in sync. The parallels between their 'first' episode together and their 'last' still make me feels things when I think about it for too long.

Shulk/Alvis from the Xenoblade Chronicles series - I had an interest in this ship after the first game, and man my love for it only grew in the xenoblade chronicles 3 dlc story. Their dialogue in that made me love it even more. "It feels like coming home" "We won't need words will we A" and tons of others. (Also Alvis/A is very much gender for me)

First Ship Ever:

Okay so the earliest would probably be Fluttershy/Discord from mlp:fim. Just based on what I remember I liked that one alot.

Favorite Child Book

The Junie B. Jones series will hold a special place in my heart due to that series being one of the first ones to be me into reading, especially the "handwritten" parts. But my favorite kids book would have to be Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea it's been a long time since I read it, but I can still remember a decent bit of the plot, and I'm pretty sure it's one of the first books to make me cry.

hi folks!!! summer holiday has begun for me (if we don't think about the fact that i have to study for exams i have in autumn, we conveniently ignore that!) but it is also time for doctor who series 7 (plus 2013 specials) thoughts by me. once again remember that my opinions are NOT stable and there's a lot based on Vibes haha, let's go!!

1. The Day of the Doctor (Sx1) - alright!!! this is so so fun, SO fun. 11, 10 and War are hilarious together i LOVE it, obviously i missed 10 so i love having him back, peter capaldi eyebrow reveal was INSANE i go !!!!!!!!! whenever i watch it, tom baker cameo... story itself is okay, but even if it's not completely perfect, it doesn't really matter because this episode is funny as hell and i need more 10 content in my life, such a fantastic celebration of (then) 50 years of doctor who, i think

2. The Angels Take Manhattan (7x5) - SO GOOD, timey wimey, which i always love, amy and rory's death is absolutely heartbreaking, and like let's also just take time to acknowledge rory williams because he died in this episode and he's, like, actually SO real and one of my favourite companions and he's brilliant. okay thank you. now then, let's continue, okay so the angels are brilliant in this episode and i love karen gillan and arthur darvill and matt smith and i loved having river back ofc, i always do, how they followed the book and!!! just such a great episode, i have no complaints

3. The Name of the Doctor (7x13) - really really like this finale, i love jenny, vastra and strax, even river appears, i honestly do like the reveal with clara and the cameos of different doctors, and the ending with war doctor reveal is so iconic i LOVE it

4. The Power of Three (7x4) - honestly i think this story is kinda underrated?? i LOVE amy and rory and all the domesticity in it, story itself isn't too special, but i love the characters so much, also rory's dad's cube log was hilarious to me, man i loved it

5. Cold War (7x8) - i really like clara in this, and i think the story is pretty good. i like how it visually looks, and the ice warrior was an okay villain i think, also i liked the old guy, HOWEVER my memory is slightly affected by the fact that i had a horrible headache when i last watched it with my little sister and my mum and had to keep my eyes closed for most of the episode also i might've slept/almost slept

6. The Rings of Akhaten (7x7) - we all love 11's speech at the end, i think? it is so good, the long song is beautiful i love it, i also like the kid and how clara is so kind to her, i like their interactions, overall i just like the story

7. A Town Called Mercy (7x3) - i like the story, it's not the best, but i do think there are some really great moments in this episode, man i love amy and rory

8. The Snowmen (7x0) - i like victorian clara and as y'all probably have noticed, i love jenny, vastra and strax. yeah, i like this one too

9. The Time of the Doctor (Sx2) - 11's regeneration is really great and i'll be so honest i was so sad when the cyberman head died istg it was so sad to me, also the beginning is so funny with 11 going to dalek ship with a bit of dalek with him etc, i really do often like steven moffat's humour. it's not a perfect story but i like it

10. Asylum of the Daleks (7x1) - i like oswin and amy and rory's story in this was really interesting and so sad, i love them so much man. i like this one

11. The Bells of Saint John (7x6) - i like the modern day clara introduction, it's a pretty good story imo, don't have much to say

12. Nightmare in Silver (7x12) - even i'm aware that the script is pretty weak, but the first time i watched this, it was the first time i liked the cybermen, now i appreciate them and find them interesting villains, but back then, this kinda made me change my opinion. i also LOVE the way 11 and mr. clever switch back and forth and PLAY CHESS!!!!! i LOVE IT it's easily the best thing in the episode, i always find times when shows do this kinda internal fights like the character fights against themselves or there's scenes in their minds, i love that so much

13. The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe (7x0) - see the story is actually kinda beautiful and not bad, but i did NOT like the kids idk why but i didn't, the ending where 11 went to see the ponds was so sweet thooo and i'm glad the dad survived

14. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (7x2) - GREG LESTRADE WHY ARE YOU HERE, uhhh, i do like individual moments in this and the robots were vaguely funny, but yeah, not the best

15. Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS (7x10) - enjoyable, but not the best. i did kinda feel bad for the guy who was lied to, and i always love a story that has the TARDIS in a bigger role, also how clara got lost was so fascinating i liked it

16. Hide (7x9) - i do like some aspects of this, but i don't think it manages to be as scary as it tries to be. it's kinda boring at times and the romance felt a bit necessary, but i do think it's still enjoyable and i like how clara sort of realises how different and alien the doctor is

17. The Crimson Horror (7x11) - probably the only good thing was jenny imo, this is like probably my least favourite doctor who story, i HATE mr. smith with all my heart i HATEEEE it, all other worse stories have something saving them and making them enjoyable, in this episode i only like jenny, she's brilliant, but just. not enough to save the episode because i hate mr smith so much lol, idk it was too gross for me 😭😭

75: Luis Sera (Resident Evil 4, 2005) - romantic/crush

(specified for the og game bc ik they changed him in the remake and i have yet to play it </3)

YAY i get to be mentally ill about resident evil

after my s/i ilona powers (she/her) was forcefully retired from STARS just like every other agent, she ended up pursuing her own rogue career in anti-BOW research, since she had a STEM background from before her time in STARS. this involves a lot of global monitoring for potential BOWs so that she can study any potential commonalities among all encountered viruses to see if there is a way to create an end-all vaccination to prevent infections, known and unknown

this is what eventually leads her to learn about las plagas, a mind-controlling parasite originating in spain. while trying to look into it, she manages to intercept and contact someone called "joaquin". in order to not draw too much suspicion, she used a fake name (clara becker) and presented herself as interested in collaboration. joaquin agreed, and ilona made her way to spain so she could extract her own test subject

over time, the two kept in touch solely through email. their emails slowly started to drift, however, from professional to personal, and when her email buddy learned that she was a single woman, he grew a little more flirtatious over the emails. ilona, still getting over leaving wesker at arklay and also being dumped by jill not long before first contacting this joaquin guy, was fairly receptive to the change in tone

once deep enough in their situationship, ilona and "joaquin" end up revealing their true identities to each other (surprise! joaquin was luis all along!), and the two do tread a line where they debate risking their current deal just to finally meet each other in person. this eventually does happen, and they get to have a romantic night together in some random rural part of the village, but then once they part ways ilona gets one final email that for safety reasons they could no longer work together

that was the last ilona ever heard from him, and even as she eventually moved on over the years, she held the memory of him near and dear

15: Truffles (Chowder) - romantic/crush

i don't have anything super solid so i'll give a gist! :D

a small note of context for my s/i gelato (any pronouns) is that they ended up in a polycule custody arrangement where every week they switch between endive's and mung daal's kitchens. this includes both for work and for dating. someone along the way lost a bet and now endive and mung daal split gelato

initially, truffles was not at all involved in this nonsense nor did she really care; honestly, gelato never fought for it at first, either. both of them were content just being metamours who were friendly with each other

however, gelato's a bit of a charmer and eventually starts to fluster truffles a little with how sincere and caring they are as a companion despite the two of them just being partners-in-law or whatever. truffles does have her secret mushy side, so gelato sporadically indulging her does woo her a bit

they haven't really made anything official, but the two of them are at a flirtatious level with each other, where gelato is the instigator and truffles gladly accepts it with her own verbal affections back at them

(they'd probably eventually date, they're just in pining phase for the main part of the selfship stuff ^^)

Its not everything everything but close there’s a lot of just little things and trying to focus on the three. (Also warning I may make jabs at the IruAmeri ship here and there just small comparisons showing why I don’t like it as much, no hate but if you don’t like your ship being talked about even slightly negatively probably look away.)

They look so cute in their winter wear.

Knowing they’d get swarmed after the Harvest Festival Azz went and got them matching concealment glasses.

Purson begins revealing secrets he’s witnessed this is Azz’s, he points out its not JUST Iruma he takes pictures of.

Clara scolds him a little but Purson reveals Iruma sneaks snacks in class.

Then they switch to scolding Iruma for his over eating.

They have to practice for the Music Festival with Clara and Azz on dance and Iruma on piano so they are separated again. Texts are cute.

This begins a fun chapter where the two have to learn to be in sync.

But their ways of thinking don’t mix easy. They go to look at how everyone else is doing.

They get the idea from watching the others to talk more.

But it ends up in arguing again until they realize they have one area they think the same.

They begin to laugh at how they said the same thing. Clara poking Azz is so cute.

Clara has a realization and its true. While Clara likely would have been put in the Misfits Class regardless Azz wouldn’t have if he hadn’t started the fight with Iruma. 

Iruma helps motivate and unite them but most importantly....

AZZ CALLS CLARA BY HER FIRST NAME FOR THE FIRST TIME.

And she is so happy!!! We’ve only seen her make these sorts of faces for Iruma before. She would go around calling him Alice despite his feelings on the name though so its good she doesnt remember.

They finally sync up. This is an important chapter for the pair and has been a long time coming. 

So Iruma gives Elizabetta a love letter as a kind of prop to get into character to play the piano but it causes Shax (who has a crush on her) and Clara to freak out along with Azz....interesting

Iruma gets smacked for his costume choices (which is an ongoing gag that he always gravitates towards armor) Clara and Azz fuss over him.

The class gets pre-preformance jitters causing our trio to end up huddle like this.

They do a compliment circle for the class this is Iruma’s can you see Azz and Clara’s?

Iruma stays out late to fix some things causing him to be zonked out the morning of the performance and gets watched by Azz and Clara.

One of the judges, the former demon kings...um well we arent actually sure what they were to each other, tosses Iruma around again poor Azz’s face.

They look so good in their costumes.

So after the festival the class has a party to celebrate their work and Ameri tries to get Iruma alone. Clara and Azz aren’t having it which while on par for Clara is rather new for Azz. (Side bar Ameri sweetie not the right time. You can say she didn’t mean right now but in a later chapter she did 100% want Iruma to leave his classmates and spend time with just her)

Now he openly takes their pictures. To anyone thinking he just crops Clara out nope you can see it on his phone shes still in frame. 

The class goes and plays some music together I like how Azz and Clara play the same instrument.

At the party Iruma is asked to do archery but they don;t want him running off. 

They are both aware that when alone Iruma tends to get pulled along by others so Azz goes.

There he finds Kirio who tells Azz this which again is interesting assessment.

Azz is touched by this thought, until...

Kirio reveals that Iruma is keeping secrets from Azz and isn’t who Azz believes him to be, promising to expose Iruma to him (he know Iruma is human). Kirio knows just how important Azz is to Iruma and wanting to see not only Iruma but Azz to fall deeper into despair plants his seeds. 

Noticing how dangerous Kirio really is Azz goes on the act nearly inducing his wicked phase before Clara arrives. Sadly she doesnt see him and he escapes.

This encounter though sets Azz back as he goes full protect mode.

He won’t talk to anyway and even keeps Clara away cause he’s so rattled by Kirio’s words.

He leaves Iruma alone to see Balam just long enough for Clara to snatch him up. And Its really funny. 

She takes this as her chance to praise him for his part in the performance he does the same and they are so cute. The ease in their touches is so sweet.

She even praises Azz too which is something I think she wants to do to his face but can’t cause of his literal walls. Iruma takes this as a chance to voice the thoughts he’s had about Azz’s shift and you think for a minute Clara is jealous but just wait. 

So this is the chapter I have been waiting to talk about since I started this god If I could I’d just post it all.

So I know there are some people who think that becauseof the art and tone shift only her Iruma confession was real and Azz was tacked on cause she was scared but I don’t agree with this. I think Clara 100% means what she says here that she love BOTH Iruma and Azz (whether you think only one is romantic and the other platonic irrelevant) She loves to different degrees perhaps but she whole heartedly loves them and believes that they not only love her back but love each other. I think she is very much aware of what she is saying. The issue is Iruma can’t keep up or fully comprehend what she is saying. 

And here it is! The name the Love Trio! See I hadn’t really considered shipping the three until this moment right here. Cause like what Clara is saying right here its like the base level of a poly relationship. You can’t just focus on one member you have to monitor and take into consideration everyone’s feelings.

Like even though Clara doesn’t like Azz hogging Iruma’s attention she recognizes something is seriously wrong with him and knows that it’s something only he and Iruma can fix. Again very basic poly stuff. And this is why I don’t think she was jealous earlier I think she was frustrated cause she knew she couldn’t help only Iruma can.

Again I don’t think Iruma fully grasphs what Clara is saying but he does know he wants to help Azz and look at her she’s so happy not a hint of disappointment. 

She just helps Iruma plan his dat.... I mean fun day out with Azz. 

So it isn’t until they’ve already spent some time together that it hits Azz its just them. Like the idea of spending time without Clara doesn’t enter his mind anymore.

So ummmm here’s the thing this chapter feels more like a date than Ameri waterpark chapter. They start it off by doing the totally platonic activity of picking out and buying clothes for each other then spending the rest of the day in said clothes. 

I didn’t put everything cause this thing is so long already but they buy food together and play around all over magic street.

So Iruma goes on to tell Azz about how his rank up has been weighing on him, that his both amazed at his achievement and feels he didn’t really earn it all at once. And Azz laughs at him for the first time. 

Iruma tells Azz that he not only wants to be around him and Clara cause he thinks they can all support and each other he NEEDS them around. And this def comes from his time during the harvest festival arc. Anyone who says they aren’t the most important people are just liars. 

Azz is so touched by that he starts to cry and has this totally platonic reaction. 

Azz goes on to think about how lucky he is to be so relied upon by Iruma, and reassures him theat he’ll always be at his side. And Iruma is so happy.

Again tel me this doesn’t look like a confession scene

Now people have argued the choice of words here, and it’s tricky words have different connotations everywhere and even ones that can’t fully be translated. Some consider that Iruma’s intent was more like best friends but the way he’s acting and how he words it, I think it’s something deeper and stronger that soulmates fits more. Now I am of the opinion that you can be a soulmate platonically but umm

Yeah. So I want to point out that Azz does include Clara in this. Were he told this at the start he’d try to exclude her but he’s grown fond of Clara and sees her now just as worthy to stand by Iruma’s side.

They then go to brag to the class about it. The implication here is that Azz went and told Clara immediately and they both agreed to do this. Cause Iruma is mortified.

Iruma explains what friends are and how he considers his classmates all friends and when explaining soulmates, as his cling, they think they are just as close too when compared to others. 

But Azz is not having it, even Clara is ready to throw down. Again Azz is willing to share this (to him) prestigious title with Clara, he doesn’t even question her presence anymore, but refuses to anyone he considers not on their level. And so out Love Trio is officially made in a sense.

This is up to chapter 182, I may wait a little for the next part for the arc to finish we’ll see but I’m in too deep to stop now. But yeah my thoughts are these three idiots just don’t fully understand what they are to each other.

When I was a kid, I read a little bit of anything and everything that looked interesting. Right around the time I was ten, I picked up “A Night to Remember” by Walter Lord, the quintessential book on the sinking of the Titanic. This is also around the time Bob Ballard and his team located the wreck of the ship, so National Geographic and a bunch of other magazines were publishing articles and photos and artwork regarding the ship and the sinking.

I. Was. Hooked.

Now, this is pre-1997-Leo-and-Kate Titanic mania, but my parents latched onto “Jennifer likes Titanic” and got me every possible book they could on the ship. A lot of them were coffee table books with lots of information and beautiful artwork of the ship and the wreck by Ken Marschall. Some of the books covered the Lusitania and Britannic and Empress of Ireland, so now I’m not just Titanic girl, I’m shipwreck girl.

I was also into baseball and was watching the World Series in 1989 when the earthquake struck live on air. So I start diving into earthquake research. Then volcanoes. Then building fires. Then plane crashes. Before long, if it’s a book about a disaster, I’ve read it.

The thing is, it was never morbid. It was never like, “Look at these photos of the burned dead from the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire! Isn’t it gross?” It was, “Here, let me tell you about the woman who organized the factory workers to strike before the fire!” or “No, but you should know the names of the elevator operators who saved so many lives!” or “Listen to what the bosses did that put everyone in such danger, all to save a buck!”

My therapist once asked me why I’m interested in disasters when they’re so incredibly depressing. Which, yes, of course, they are, but also there’s hopeful stuff there too. People who survived despite the odds, problems which were found and fixed because these terrible things happened, memorials which were built to remember those who died. That’s what I end up getting hooked with - the final survivor they pull out of the wreckage, the person who does something gallant to help others even if they know doing so will sign their own death certificate, the people who show up with whatever they can to help out even if it probably won’t be useful because they feel like they have to do *something*.

Like, there’s so many depressing things going on in the world all the time, and I can’t always find the good in those stories all the time. But with Titanic, for example, I can think about the Strausses staying together in the ship because they refused to be parted or take a seat from a younger passenger. With the Triangle Shirtwaist factory, I can think about Clara Lemlich, a certified badass who unionized garment workers in the early 1900s in New York and led the Uprising of the 20,000 in 1909. (She even organized the workers at her nursing home in her old age. She was kind of amazing.)

So when I went back to college, one of the classes I had in my final semester was a literature class focused on nature writing. One of the books we read was “Into the Wild.” (Which I love as a book, but haaaaate because McCandless’s actions frustrate me to no end, but whatever.) Our final assignment was a presentation on a different book by an author we already read in class, so I did “Into Thin Air.” I did background on Everest exploration, the events of the 1996 disaster itself, memorials, and things which have been improved since then as a result.

I was only supposed to do ten minutes. I think I did twenty.

Now, I’m not a good public speaker. I’m nervous and stutter and get anxious being stared at. But that presentation was easy to give, because I wasn’t just interested in the subject matter, I’d literally read the book a half-dozen times before AND watched multiple documentaries on the 1996 disaster. I could have done the presentation without even doing the research. Even now, I could do a thirty-minute talk on dozens of disasters without any prep whatsoever.

When I got done and sat down, my teacher in the next seat leaned over and said, “You’re such a good storyteller.” I was grateful, except … I’m not. I’m really not. At least, not all the time. I have to be VERY into what I’m talking about. I’ve dictated to my phone at least part if not all of three books this year.

But I can tell THOSE stories. I can tell survival stories, I can tell rescue stories, I can tell stories of victims getting justice. Because look at what people can be! Not everyone is an unrepentant douchebag! Maybe everything’s NOT a big bag of ferret shit! Like, do some people suck? Sure. Do terrible things happen? Every day. But do good things happen in spite of all that, literally in the middle of the world falling apart? Weirdly enough, yeah.

Also, it’s grossly unfair that we skip over learning these stories because they’re depressing, and in the process allow the victims to be forgotten over and over again. The story of the Triangle Shirtwaist factory is one full of strong women who started over in a new country and were doing what they could to take care of their families, and people down on the street who did what they could, and Frances Perkins! The first female cabinet member who served as secretary of labor under FDR! Who was hardcore into workers’ rights and safety because the day of the fire she was having tea at a friend’s home nearby and went out to see what was going on and had the image of jumping girls burned into her mind.

Someone in the notes of that other post I made for the podcast questioned if it was informative or exploitative. I mean, aside from the answer I could have given, which is I don’t know, listen and find out? I get the worries of exploitation in darker non-fiction stories, especially given we were all just talking about the Dahmer miniseries being exploitative as fuck. But me personally? I’m pretty much in it to tell you true stories from history and share donation websites and remember the deceased and warn people how to respond to disasters and assure you air travel’s safer than it’s ever been and basically do exactly what I normally do to my coworkers and relatives and people I meet at parties when I actually GO to parties.

If no one listened to the podcast, if it was just me researching and recording it and that’s it, it’d still do me the service of allowing me to get excited about something, which so very often I find far too difficult. It gives something to focus on, to aspire to, and I’m so proud of it turning seven years old at the end of December.

“God you're so—“ Clara uttered, out of breath and bracing a railing inside the safety of the Tardis.

“Brilliant? Charming? Handsome…?” The Doctor said. He pointed his hands at his face and made a toothy, annoyingly cocky, grin.

“No, “ Clara whispered. Her words were inaudible to her grey haired friend as he puttered around the Tardis console, fueled by adrenaline from their narrow escape and looking for his next high. “You’re so…”

“Magical. Whimsical. Alluring. Egotistical? Well, with the way this list is heading…” He prattled on. “Perhaps, intelligent beyond your ability to comprehend? Though that’s not really putting us on a more humble path, even if it is true!” He circled the control panel excitedly so he was opposite Clara, who was still glued at the entryway, and keyed in something to the keyboard and monitor.

“So, Clara Oswald!” He chirped. “How do you feel about a visit to the Rotted Dynasty of Mercoralapse? Horrible name, but you’ll understand when you see Her Majesty’s teeth. Or maybe!” He called, turning his back to Clara to postulate into the air. “We can do Paris through the ages. We can start by seeing the Eiffel tower being built and end in 2734 with the Louvre’s best and finest collection of art of all time. What do you say?!” He flipped one last lever with a dramatic flare and the two lurched as they felt the Tardis take off.

The Doctor turned to face Clara and saw her frozen in the aisle. She was looking down, her face obstructed by hair.

“Incorrigible,” She muttered then looked up. Eyes wide and tearful and lips pursed from either anger or trying to hold those tears back, she repeated herself— louder this time. “You're so incorrigible!” She panted.

Her voice rang throughout the Tardis and the force of her words nearly knocked the Doctor over. He looked around as if unsure of who she was addressing even though they were the only two aboard.

“Me?” He feigned stupid, pointing a hand in at his own chest to reassure Clara, and himself, of the individual she was addressing.

“Yes you!” She sighed. A frustrated few years fought their way out as Clara readjusted her footing anxiously. “We almost died…” Clara breathed. Her words were a reminder to herself, as she was trying to process what had just occurred, but also to The Doctor who had seemingly so quickly forgotten. Clara’s breath hitched in her chest as reality settled in her like a ton of bricks. “We almost died. I-I almost died!” She sobbed. “And you are rushing off to the next adventure but… we could have died!”

The Doctor took a few measured steps towards his companion, still weary of her initial outburst and weighing, very seriously, the likelihood and impact of another.

“You’re… You’re so used to this i-it’s frightening. We were in danger, like seriously this time, not run of the mill fun adventure type stuff but… real danger. a-and you just walk away. how does it not terrify you. are you really that alien that nothing even scares you? Please tell me something scares you because if not then I can’t travel with you because if nothing scares you then there are no stakes then what does that mean for me? Where do I end up?

“Clara," He started.

“I need to know that you are scared of something, Doctor. please. I need to know that there’s fear enough of something in you to keep yourself alive. to keep me alive.” Clara demanded, tears now streaking through her makeup.

“Clara.” The Doctor reached a hand out towards his friend, beckoning her to meet him. Clara looked suspiciously at his hand, aware of his distaste for physical contact. “Clara Oswald," He uttered in what was probably the gentlest tone Clara had ever heard from this version of The Doctor. “Of course I'm scared—" He nodded at his outstretched hand. “Feel my pulse.”

His face was earnest and nearly pleading so Clara carefully agreed and grabbed her friend’s arm, pushing past his many layers of sleeves to place two fingers over the inside of the time lord’s wrist. He was right. Clara felt a rhythmic drumming of his two hearts pulsing blood at an accelerated rate. ba ba ba ba. ba ba ba ba. He was scared, or at least his alien body had been aware of some imminent danger.

The Doctor slid his wrist out from her grasp and laced his aged fingers between hers, a gentle motion of understanding.

“It’s rotten work saving the universe.” He told her, watching tears of frustration and subsiding fear billow from Clara’s eyes. “But someone’s got to do it. And it’s easier with a smile." He flashed his goofy grin only briefly and continued; “And it’s easier if my friends think I’ve got it all together. We’d never get anything done if everybody knew how scared The Doctor really was.”

Clara forced a laugh at this and used her spare hand to wipe her messed face. with his spare hand, The Doctor wrapped half of himself around Clara. She was sure that if she were to ask, The Doctor would explain the action as being for her benefit only, but Clara could feel him settle warmly into the embrace, as if he needed it as much as she did. He had been just as scared after all. Clara couldn’t imagine juggling that fear without someone to hold.

“Oh Clara Oswald," He muttered, resting his chin on her head and pulling his other arm around her. Clara locked her arms around his waist. “Of course I’m scared." He looked up into the sterling walls of the Tardis that had kept him safe for so long, that had been his home for so long. “If if nothing else… then of losing you… my Impossible Girl.”

Clara sobbed a few sharp exhales into his hoodie at the meaningful nickname. She sniffled and readjusted her face to the side so he could hear her speak. “I’m sorry for shouting at you,” Clara admitted brokenly.

“No bother," He laughed. “It’s good for the ego.”

“Yeah,” Clara said, pulling out of their embrace. She blotted under her eyes to try and fix whatever damage had been done to her foundation via mascara stained tears. “We have got to get that in check.”

“Hm!” The Doctor chided. He took a few steps backwards and away from Clara. “Good luck.” The man turned and replaced himself at the helm of the Tardis.

“So,” Clara sang, regaining some of her youthful cheer as she skipped towards the decorated console. “Rotted Dynasty?" She asked, still timid. “Is it as awful as it sounds?”

“Worse.” The Doctor grinned and met Clara’s gaze with that usual adventurous twinkle in his eye. “Potentially dangerous though," He admitted— his eyes tracked Clara’s face to gauge her reaction.

“Potentially dangerous…” She bit back the mischievous smile that was pouring onto her face. “Potentially…” She repeated, rolling the word and it’s meaning over in her mind. “I think I do ‘potentially,’” She settled, finally allowing that smile to brighten her face.

The Doctor grinned back, though posited another question to his friend in search of absolute confidence in her ability to continue in their travels. “… What about ‘certainly,’ ‘definitely,’ ‘absolutely’ dangerous?" He spoke as he maneuvered around the circular helm.

Clara looked down with serious consideration. that day they had been in absolute, certain, definite danger, and yet… she was still standing. She was safe inside the Tardis despite only moments previous being inches from death. Clara focused on the silver floors of the Tardis and her eyes travelled up the walls and ceiling. She was safe.Her eyes finally landed back on her time lord.

“As long as I'm with you,” She spoke. “I think I can do anything.”

The Doctor hid his softened face by looking down into the busy console— Clara had embarrassed him with her flattery; as well as frightened him. Clara was not the first to think she was invisible at The Doctor’s side. He recalled his many companions who had felt the same way and who had met such unfortunate ends.

as he ruminated, Clara backed away from the control panel of the Tardis. She turned and trotted up one of the staircases that encircled the center console.

“I'm gonna go change,” She stated, motioning at her clothes that had been muddied during their narrow escape.

“Clara,” The Doctor called after his friend before she could exit into the depths of the ship.

She turned, her big bright eyes meeting his cool serious face.

“I'll always protect you," He said in earnest, his words fueled by those he had lost.

“Yeah… I know.” Clara reassured him. and she did. She knew that out of anyone in the universe, she was safest with The Doctor. It was hard to remember at times, especially when staring directly down the barrel, but Clara knew that her Doctor would do whatever he could to protect her and keep her safe.

“Good." He choked out, putting a definite end to the sappy conversation which was rapidly putting cracks in his collected and mysterious facade. “Now go away,” He shooed. “You look horrendous!”

“Oh Doctor,” She laughed and crossed her arms. “Don’t pretend like you have any idea if I look good or not.” Clara shunned The Doctor and turned into a never-ending hallway.

“Your right,” He admitted and began fiddling with the Tardis’s controls again. “But you do smell like jet fuel and the Tardis doesn’t like you stinking up the place.”

“She doesn’t mind!” Clara corrected, shouting back over her shoulder and disappearing into another corridor.

“No,” The Doctor smiled into the controls, knowing that neither he nor Clara had truly been talking about the ship. “No, she doesn’t.”
