Listen. I have an odd request that's been bugging the shit outta me. It's cringe af but bear with me
Does anyone who was really into watching movie reviewer content in like early/mid 2010s (ie nostalgia critic, channel awesome shit), does anyone know if they ever did a 2010 odyssey 2 movie review? I stg I have a memory of one of these pop reviewers making a review on the movie. I remember the reviewer was dismissive to the movie but I was so fascinated by the movie they where describing. I think it had one of those commissioned thumbnails those types of reviews always had. I swear it was Doug Walker but I cant find proof it was him so I think it mightve been another reviewer in the same community. I can't find any proof a review like this existed even tho I clearly remember watching smthn like this year's ago. It would've been when I was in elementary school (like 7th/8th grade, im a junoir in college now ) so almost a decade ago. Idk if anyone has any ideas please help me so I don't feel like I'm going senile
#2001 aso#2001 a space odyssey#2010 odyssey two#2010 the year we make contact#2061 odyssey 3#3001 final odyssey#listen i was a cringe kid but now that ive watched/read the og source material im compelled to know wtf i watched#cuz i knew it existed before i got into the series#ong im not crazy#do i wanna tag nostalgia critic#i need to find people who watched the same cringe shit u did as a kid

Man the more I hear about the FNaF movie, the more I actively refuse to watch it (and I didn't even want to watch it in the beginning). Why would anyone fall for this nostalgia-baiting, cash-grabbing trashfire of a movie? Probably (definitely) because it caters to the fans so hard considering all the YouTuber cameos and the fact everyone is screaming "This is made for the audience not the critics!!!"
Also the fact that the first thing I saw in the FNaF movie Tumblr tag is a fanfic thirsting hard over what appears to be another generic white man is so funny to me.
I genuinely and truly do not think I've heard a good thing about it from supposed fans
Every person, without fail, opens with "well it wasn't a good movie BUT-" NO!!! BUT NOTHING!!! BAD MOVIE MEANS IT FAILS AT ITS JOB OF BEING A MOVIE!!!
This shit is legit Hogwarts Legacy all over again but unlike that game people are just conveniently forgetting what a garbage person the creator profiting off the project is because their pseudo horror blorbos are more important to them, and the fact that no one else is willing to talk about that because MatPat makes an honestly terrible in concept cameo? Or because they wanna pretend like they care about the leads as actors? Or because the Henson company is attached to it (like y'all have ever cared about practical effects before this)?
It's fucking bullshit. Can't wait for your favorite animatronic to be the new house system.

An introduction I guess
" They might try to tell you how you can live your life/But don't forget it's your right/To do whatever you like " - Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia), Patrick Stump
Hey, I'm Corin(or Cory or Cor), or XO, or maudlin scribbler or madulin or scribbler. Honestly I like being called either of those names, or nicknames or variations of them. Also call me Cory too, perhaps.
17 years old, and will be so for some months still. Born in november.
Any pronouns.
Queer, kinda transgender, my gender is also eather fluid as well.
I am also on the aroace spectrum, somewhere there haha. And I guess I am pansexual as well.
School wise, I suppose I could say that I am sort of studying the social sciences. I love anthropology, archaeology and history, they are quite some of the major loves of my life, along with mythology and folklore.
I do love astronomy and space in general, but I am not very knowledgable in these sort of things. Frankly, I am so fucking bad at science.
romanian! With greek and ukrainian roots. I speak romanian, english (hopefully), a tad bit of french and I am trying to learn greek.
Hope you don't mind the obnoxious amount of dividers!
Also check out my friend @mintmacaroonn !!!! They're a pretty cool dude, I'd say.
Also the tag #corin's lore is basically my talking tag. I tag my art under the tag #my art.
Hobestly, I have a lot of interests, some of which I'll list here and all of them will be listed in the tags(eventually). Some of them I don't think of very much, while some are currently consuming my mind haha. Frankly the best way to find out if I know something though is to ask me!
I love gothic literature, such as the Invisible Man by H. G. Wells(bold and in colour 'cause I love it so much despite not talking about it for a while haha. Don't remember that much of it tho, wanna reread it again someday). I have read some other books too. Yeah, I've read PJO (and a little bit of HOO). And Frankenstein(and Jekyll & Hyde). I love sitcoms, I've wached The Nanny and FRIENDS and some other 90s & 2000s sitcoms, I think. I like Superstore, and I have indeed watched 1670 (netflix) and loved it, and Rise of Empirea: Ottoman. And Seinfeld, yeah. Kinda like lore rekindled too, ngl.
Of course, as I have said before, I love history!
Love Ride The Cyclone!
I like cookie run (I mostly have played kingdom though) and have played a bit of reverse 1999
Yes, I do like hetalia (but I'll only really talk about it on my side blog, @estbela , for the forseeable future.). I'm critical of it, I guess.
Despite my love for music, I struggle with checking out artists and stuff, but I do love the Crane Wives and Fall Out Boy(albeit I've only recently started really listening to them, I haven't really listened to all their stuff or anything but they're cool)! And I do love Patrick Stump's solo stuff too haha, soul punk is awesome. Which might be obvious because of me putting a quote from one of the songs at the top of this post. I also love other music too!!!! :]
Hobestly i love a lot of other things too.
[ I do want to mention that I am critical of my interests and stuff, and don't blindly love stuff. If one of my interests contains 'problematic' things, it doesn't mean I condone it and sometimes I might not even know about it. ].
AO3 -> I.
Twitter -> II.
Sometimes I might talk about myself or my life, vent a little I guess haha. I really like complaining about stuff, it seems. I struggle with my mental health, but I try not to talk about it too much.
Dunno if I have dyslexia, but I do have some similar struggles with people who do have it. Including my struggle with spelling, but I do try my best. I...probably have ADHD? Maybe some other couple things, who knows.
have a lot of ideas for original stuff. Will perhaps try to talk about those ideas...eventually. Sometimes I also think I am funny.
Feel free to ask me stuff also!!!
Thanks for reading this whole thing! :]
...Will probably edit this if I can think of other stuff to mention, or when I feel like it.
-dividers by @/saradika-graphics -> x.
-my old pinned post -> x.
A hug for you! :D
Also a cool blinkie thing <3

(I don't know how to word this so if anyone wants to decipher my words feel free to)
I feel like in the Tumblr space atleast people have been so, adamant?? I think with everyone being in character, I saw someone talk about an AU chara being ooc, no shit? It's an au? And I feel like if I wanna say smth people are gonna go in my tags going "erm aksuhally" (THIS HASNT HAPPENED TO BE CLEAR)
IM NOT SAYING YOU CANT DISLIKE AUS OR YOU CANT ANALYSE THE CHARACTERS OR THAT WE SHOULD IGNORE SPECIFIC STUFF THAT HAPPENS OR THAT TOU CANT HATE CHARACTERS/SCENES THAT HAPPENED IN THE BOOKS OR FANON INTERPRETATIONS AND THAT YOU CANT BE CRITICAL it's just that the books are so inconsistent and poorly written that it's sometimes not worth it to try and stick to canon when it's so terrible, keyword being sometimes and that to me atleast, people can do whatever with characters in an au (there's exceptions like certain evil aus and 99% of thistleclaw aus, there's more that I can't think of rn) at the end of the day the books are only being made for nostalgia and that people are buying them and it's probably never ending and the world is too short at this point just go fuck it I ball
people in fandom spaces, atleast how Ive seen them, always don't like OOC characters (and for good reasons), and this includes the warriors fandom but the books only have a few characters that aren't just blank pieces of paper and they change characters out of the blue (bristlefrost and onestar) that I just think, ok this is not going to work atp
I HOPE I MADE . ENOUGH SENSE

i’m really glad to see that i’m not the only one who was very critical of mando season 2, most of my friends loved it and i didn’t want to ruin it for them but all the cameos just watered the plot down to a nostalgia-fest and the show suffered for it imo
I yo-yo super hard with s2 because there’s a lot I like about it, but the season finale permanently destroyed my brain and gave me terminal grumpy bitch disease so it’s tainted my overall enjoyment of the show a lot. I’m much more calm about it now and am mostly just hoping we get a decent third season to smooth over some of the rougher edges of s2. with all the big d+ shows being announced now I’m cautiously optimistic that the show isn’t going to be used as a billboard for disney but honestly who knows lol. either way though I feel you, it’s so bizarre to see people praise the s2 finale in particular when it’s the worst episode of the show in my opinion, but star wars is extremely dumb anyway so I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade and will mostly just stick to bitching in my own corner. I do have an s2 crit tag if you wanna browse through that though!!
#mando.txt#questions in spaaace#s2 crit#<- that one#not everything in there is coherent but you can take a look if ur interested#there is that massive post I wrote a couple days after the finale came out in there as well lol it’s right near the beginning

I think y’all forget how much the Inuyasha anime meandered all over the place. If you disagree, that’s fine. WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR BOAT. So many people went into Yashahime on this big nostalgia trip, hoping your own special headcanons would come true or whatever, then got ridiculously huffy when it didn’t conform to each of your individual likes. Criticize as you please. We are all entitled to our own opinions. God knows there are certain shows/books/etc that I love to rip apart, but I think the hate (or criticism if you cannot fathom that word--the way you present your criticism is really what makes the distinction) needs an anti-tag some safe space tagging at this point. I’m enjoying the show, but damn if I can find anything to reblog that’s not shredding it apart.
AN EXAMPLE: You wanna hate the possibility of SessRin? That’s fine, but TAG ACCORDINGLY. (this is just an example of the biggest thing that pops up if you search. there are plenty of valid criticisms for the show. a #yashahimecrit tag is FINE if you don’t wanna tag anti. just...come on y’all. BE KIND. it’s not hard to use a tag.)
Some of us are here to just enjoy some new content. Please use some kind of anti tags or something so the rest of us can filter it out. I’m sure SOME of you are, but most are not.
It’s fun to criticize things you don’t particularly like. I get that. I do. And it’s important to be critical. But some of us just want to enjoy shows that distract us from this hellish timeline. Please let us.
#antisesskagura #antisessrin #antiyashahime <anti tags for those who don’t mind using them
umbrella tag for criticism: #yashahimecrit
I’m literally blocking all tags I add here from my own dash. Those of you who would also like to see this happen, drop some tags YOU wish people would use and I will add them to the post. For example, I really don’t like sess/kagura, so an #antisesskagura tag has been added.
Listen, I know some of you don’t wanna tag with so many things, so let’s call #yashahimecrit the umbrella tag, ok? Or if you don’t tag at all, put something in your profile so people know to block you.
I’ve seen plenty of other fandoms do this without a fuss. It eliminates so much tension.
Please let’s be kind to each other.

#lotr #lotr books #lotr elves #lotr memes #silmarillion #art #artists on tumblr #the rings of power #amazon #ruined books #tolkien #poor tolkien #questions #questionable #your opinion
OP this feels like bait and I'm gonna take it.
Quick TLDR before I really get into this: it's not that serious. Adaptations are incapable of ruining their source material, and Rings of Power is not uniquely unfaithful or bad. They're not trying to adapt anything that they don't have the rights to, and what they are adapting is so vague that it's pretty hard to get it wrong (and they're not). Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk srry about taking the bait <3
Chiefly I wanna focus on the #ruined books tag because it is such a bizarre criticism of the show. As a Silmarillion enjoyer, a lifelong LOTR fan, and just a lover of Tolkien's works in general I'm in the "Good/decent series, but I don't appreciate all of it" category. Chiefly, the writing is a weak point. I see someone else pointing out in the replies that the pacing is weak, too, and that's absolutely true. There are a few character interpretations I disagree on but let me make two things clear:
It is not possible for an adaptation to "ruin" the source material
Rings of Power has nothing to do with the LOTR trilogy, and very little to do with the Silmarillion. So again, it's really strange to me that people judge the series based off of either of these things.
What people seem to be really judging the series off of is their nostalgia of the Peter Jackson trilogy, which is good but is not particularly faithful to the books, either. It maintains the spirit of Tolkien, though, and that is why it is so beloved today. Rings of Power also maintains the themes and spirit of Tolkien, and they are working with a much more forgiving source material, actually. They're working with the appendices -- which is about as specific as a high-school history textbook as to events, characters, and timeline. Sure, they're condensing things, and sure, they're taking a lot of liberties with interpretations. But characters like Cirdan, Gil-Galad, Elendil, Isildur, etc. etc. have little to no actual spoken lines in Tolkien's work, and we get maybe one-to-two paragraphs about them, max. There is nothing to ruin, here, except for people's high expectations based off of over fifty years of percolating headcannons.
I am trying my best to be super kind here but I am really tired of this attitude toward the show. They are not adapting the Silmarillion. Neither are they adapting LOTR. And a lot of people I see getting so mad about the show and saying that it ruins the books either haven't read the books, haven't actually watched the show themselves (or didn't watch the whole thing), or are looking at Peter Jackson's trilogy through rose-colored lenses.
Yes, PJ's trilogy was a once-in-a-lifetime sort of trilogy of films. And yes, they were made with great love. But so is Rings of Power. Literally everybody working on it loves Tolkien. Most of them have read the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and even Tolkien's letters and it shows. They are delving into things that Tolkien himself struggled with (the personhood of orcs, namely, which Tolkien never reconciled with in his lifetime and deeply troubled him), songs of power, shapeshifting Sauron (a Silmarillion staple!) and many, many other things. Galadriel has her hair bound up in a crown-braid at one point which is directly pulled from her character descriptions, and Rings of Power Galadriel is much truer-to-form than Peter Jackson's.
Yes, they're adding new characters, expanding plotlines, truncating other ones, etc. They have to. Every adaptation has to do these things, and just because people might disagree with how they're choosing to adapt the work (I myself disagree with a lot of choices), that doesn't mean the show is objectively bad or objectively a disgrace to Tolkien's work. I cannot stress this enough: they are working off of very loose source material and they're doing a pretty good job of it, and it's made with love, and they get a lot of my favorite, crucial characters right (Celebrimbor, Elrond, Annatar, etc.) in ways that I have never seen any other adaptation do.
So yeah. I really enjoy it, and coming from someone who is very acquainted with Tolkien's work (Children of Hurin, HoME, LaCE, The Hobbit, Unfinished Tales, The Fall of Gondolin, LOTR, The Silmarillion, etc. etc. etc.) Yes, I do think that it is very much in the spirit of Tolkien's work and that they're doing a good job with their adapation.
All that to say: it's okay if you disagree, or if you dislike the show, or whatever. I'm not really trying to come for you, but this poll is really strange when paired with those tags so...yeah...it does kinda feel like bait that I'll bite on. I'm old enough to remember when PJ's trilogy came out. People hated it! They were getting mad about little things like the color of Faramir's hair (sound familiar, re lengths of wigs nowadays?). Then people got over that and stopped being reactionary and realized that, hey, actually this is really good and all of that nitpick stuff doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, because it's in the spirit of Tolkien's work. Then PJ's hobbit came out and oh boy was that a disaster (and it still is IMO for many, many reasons), but now Rings of Power has come out and people are looking back on The Hobbit with rose-tinted glasses, and Rings of Power has become the new Tolkien adaptation that is fashionable to hate. This is not new. And by that, I mean that Rings of Power is not somehow uniquely bad or unfaithful. In fact, it's uniquely good in some aspects when held up against its peers.
It has its issues. I hate a lot of aspects of it just as much as I hate certain aspects of Peter Jackson's films. But for me, the love for the source material and the good parts of Rings of Power outweighs the bad. I'm thriving getting to see my favorite Tolkien characters get so much screentime. That's why I like it. It seems a poll like this goes around every month, and every single time the majority skews toward liking the show, and a large majority of the people who like the show are readers of all of Tolkien's works. The other selection of positive watchers are mostly casual watchers who can appreciate the show because it's good fun. There's nothing wrong with giving it a go and going "hm, this isn't for me", but to say that it ruins the source material or it's a disgrace to Tolkien's work is uh, well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As for what Tolkien would think of it? He's dead. And he meant for his work to be shared and enjoyed. It's a story that brought him comfort to write when he was in the trenches, and comfort to his kids when he told them it at bedtime. And as for the Tolkien Estate, they sold the rights and, after seeing what was being done with Season One, actively came back and gave them more rights in their contract. So if you want an "objective" opinion about whether or not this is faithful, the Tolkien Estate - who is notoriously stingy about who gets to touch Tolkien's work - seems to think that nothing is being butchered.
Ok, what is your position about Rings Of Power?
I'm curious because I see a lot of people loving it, and I don't understand why. Because for me, that series is a shit for several reasons. But I wanna know the tumblr users' opinion.
#srry for taking the bait and ranting#i really tried to be polite#but man the hate for this show is just performative at this point#rings of power#the rings of power

you mentioned in the tags of your last post that you relate a lot of music to the yunmeng bros, any recs in particular? i’m looking for songs to add to my yunmeng bros playlist :D
It’s less a Yunmeng Bros playlist and more a Jiang Cheng playlist that doubles as a Yunmneng Bros playlist. I feel like I should warn you all that:
My guiding principle for nerd playlists is “does this song make me laugh in this context.” The full Jiang Cheng edition includes “Numb” by Linkin Park. There is a lot of girly pop.
There are also a lot of breakup songs because not enough people make music about hating yourself for loving your brother. If I think the bitter self loathing outweighs the sexiness, it goes on the list.
I started adding commentary is a misguided attempt to explain myself (I am inexplicable but also right about all of these songs except one). Sorry!
I think think this playlist is hilarious (see above) but I’ve been informed (by cowards) that actually it “brings the mood down”
Grape of Wrath- Yunmeng Bro Edit
Purple Rain (Prince)
No Jiang Cheng playlist would be complete without this song, but despite the title it’s Wei Wuxian all the way through.
I never meant to cause you any sorrow/ I never meant to cause you any pain/ I only wanted to one time to see you laughing
Our House (Madness)
Yanli is the one they’re going to miss in lots of ways. Lotus Pier was their castle and their keep. This song manages to be frenetic about nostalgia for most of a verse, which I think is both impressive and on point.
Our house, in the middle of our (something tells you that you've got to move away from it)
Hey Brother (Avicii)
More Yunmeng Siblings! I think sometimes things are obvious because they are correct.
Hey brother! Do you still believe in one another?/Hey sister! Do you still believe in love? I wonder
Boy Problems (Carly Rae Jepsen)
I always have a terrible time choosing what Carly song to put on a given playlist, but this is the one that’s on it right now.
So tired of hearin' all your boy problems
We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Taylor Swift)
Sometimes it’s not about drama and tragedy and transcendent love. Sometimes it’s about being really mad because you’ve spent a lot of time having feelings about an asshole who you know isn’t going to change, and then being additionally mad that you’re wasting your time being mad about that.
This is exhausting - Jiang Cheng aged 18 3/4
(They are getting back together though. I will not be taking criticism on this point)
Rare (Selena Gomez)
This song doesn’t actually belong on this playlist because there is no point in canon where Jiang Cheng has the requisite self esteem. “I don’t have it all! I’m not claiming to. But I know that I’m special. :(” makes me laugh, and so it stays.
Crack Baby (Mitski)
Usually when I’m amusing myself making everything song about The Untamed Mitski reminds me of Lan Wangji, but this is a song about being in perpetual withdrawal for the love you knew in childhood so it’s about Yunmeng Bros.
Crack baby you don't know what you want/ But you know that you're needing it/And you know that you need it bad
Are You Happy Now (Michelle Branch)
The quintessential “fuck you! You don’t get to pretend that this didn’t matter it DID” song. Also, by the end of the story Jiang Cheng has accepted that Wei Wuxian no longer cares about him and is happy now, so this song makes me laugh in a mean way.
Would you tell it to my face/Have I been erased
Happier (Marshmello, Bastille)
This is the single most obnoxious way you could possibly respond to “Are You Happy Now” while also being a completely valid and reasonable response to “Are you Happy Now.” Playing them back to back really nails their second life vibe.
I wanna raise your spirits/I want to see you smile but/Know that means I'll have to leave
La Di Da (Lennon Stella)
Sometimes Wei Wuxian’s inner monologue is also expressed via the medium of girly pop.
We both know there's no use/Talkin' 'bout what I owe you/I want back the old you
You're gonna say something you don't mean/So just before you take it too far, I'll hold my ears say "la da da di da"
Glendora (Rilo Kiley)
The only reason Rilo Kiley isn’t the ultimate Jiang Cheng band is that Rilo Kiley fucks. Nothing on this playlist makes me laugh harder than this song, not even Pink’s Family Portrait. This is the best “I am actively ashamed of loving you” song in the world.
I cry, cry, cry, then I complain/Come back for more, do it again
I should find someone better for me/But Mom says we're born this way
And So It Goes (Billy Joel)
Brother-divorce is hard on the heart. Sometimes because of stabbing, other times just because it’s difficult to leave someone when you’ve grown around them as much as you’ve grown with them.
So I would choose to be with you/That's if the choice were mine to make/But you can make decisions too/And you can have this heart to break
Maybe This Time (Liza Minnelli)
Someone give Jiang Cheng a prozac and a hug.
Maybe this time, I'll be lucky/Maybe this time, He'll stay
Everybody loves a winner/So nobody loves me
He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother (The Hollies)
In any modern au where they’re mad at each other both of them change the channel the second this comes on the radio and then stare out the window, bereft.
While we're on the way to there, why not share?/And the long doesn't way me down at all/He ain't heavy - he's my brother
Dessa- Children’s Work
This goes out to all the siblings.
You slept in my bed / and if I kept quiet... I could hear all the voices in your head When the wagon tipped / I prayed over your body I asked God to take the damage out on me
#this travesty of a post happened because my playlists are not easily shareable#and i could not in good conscious include we are never ever getting back together without#specifying that they WILL#get back together#i know this is mostly angry breakup songs#but ALSO#they love each other and they are gonna be fine!

I hate people whose DNI is like “you can’t consume any media with any flaws, even if you’re critical of those flaws” like... who hurt you? Who told you this? How much time a day do you spend on Tumblr?
Like yeah in some cases a piece of media is literally irredeemable/has nothing enjoyable about it once you look at all the bad stuff but like. People should still be able to enjoy Harry Potter as long as they’re careful/critical about what aspects of it they internalise and they don’t actually support JK Rowling and stuff like that y’know?
Like... it’s okay if you just don’t wanna see that stuff on your dash but the trick to that is to just. Not follow people who like those things. Or ask them to tag them for you. You don’t have to excommunicate every Homestuck who’s really only still in it for the nostalgia and the idealised version of the characters that they have in their heads.
#🐇.txt#im Salty hi#harry potter ment#homestuck ment#i also hate when someones whole dni is just ‘freaks dni’ like im sorry who out here is considering *themself* a freak#thats gonna have about the same effect as ‘anyone can interact’

you can tell a lot about someone by the type of music they listen to 🎵🎶
rules: hit shuffle on your media player and write down the first 20 songs, then tag 10 people. no skipping!
tysm to @clumsyclifford for tagging me! I still can’t actually believe it when I get tagged in things lol. PLEASE do not call me out for my very strange and noncohesive taste in music. also, my ability to ramble is unparalleled, so feel free to skip all the commentary bc I know I would.
Hometown by French 79: wow. I guess we’re starting off by exposing me and the techno/edm I listen to while studying/working. the lyrics in this song are practically non-existent, which is how I like my study music, but something about it is very soothing, while still being very fast-paced. I heard it/ some other songs on my study playlist described once as “orchestral electronic” and that seems very fitting. a good song, for sure, although I wouldn’t really say it plays a big role in my music taste.
False Confidence by Noah Kahan: the only noah kahan song that I had heard before actually getting into his music, and still one of my favorites. all of busyhead is honestly so good. I think I said this to bella once, but Noah Kahan has such a woodsy, cabin-in-Vermont vibe, and at the moment, I’m very into that.
High Highs to Low Lows by Lolo Zouaï: I really forgot this song existed. My cousin? second-cousin? (idk not much of my family is in the us, so whatever she is to me, we’re close) and I went to see Lolo Zouaï live on of our NYC trips. (Fun fact: this is the only concert I’ve ever been to!) I didn’t know anything about her until like a week before we went, so I listened to a bunch of her music for a week before and after seeing her, and then I forgot about it. It’s honestly pretty good, and her voice is very ethereal-sounding in parts, which is how I like to imagine mine sounds when I sing, so it’s fun trying to sing it.
Classic by MKTO: if I could pick a song to encompass the feeling of sixth grade, it would be this one. this really isn’t the type of music I’d usually choose to listen to, but I always let it play through when it comes on, for nostalgia purposes.
Castaway by 5SOS: YESSSSSS. Best song on SGFG, and no, I will not be taking any criticism. I adore Castaway with my entire heart, and even though I listen to it at least once a day on my morning run, I will never get sick of it.
Teeth by 5SOS: Speaking of getting sick of things... I mean, not really, but I also do not love this song anywhere near as much as I used to back in like March/April. This was one of the first songs by 5SOS that I listened to consistently, and probably THE one that convinced me to get more into their other music, so for that, it holds a special place in my heart, but I overplayed this wayyyy too much. Still good, but I’d prefer to not hear it for a while so I can get back to the place where I would scream-sing my heart out to this.
Mauja hi Mauja by Mika Singh: the first Bollywood song on the list! My parents actually introduced me to this one when I was like seven years old, and I’ve loved it ever since. It always puts a smile on my face, and it’s really fun to dance around my room to, which is always my main goal when listening to Bollywood.
Alejandro by Lady Gaga: Where did this even come from, and why do I still remember all the lyrics?
UNSTATUS QUO by Duckwrth: I originally listened to this bc I liked the title and as a pretentious debate nerd who used the phrase “status quo” at least four times a day, it felt like blasphemy not to. This is def my “cool kid in a movie walking down the street” song. It’s more... loud? cacophonous? than the music I usually listen to, but it really, really does make me feel cool. I think if I were to hear it more often than I do, I would probably stop liking it.
Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens: yeah, I don’t know about this one. I feel like I can only listen to this when I’m already sobbing, so I’m gonna skip it for now. I never actually watched CMBYN, so idk how I even found this song. ALSO fun fact, I found a ten hour loop of this song on youtube once, and listened to the whole thing in one sitting. as I’m sure you can guess, that was not a good day :)
Do I Wanna Know by Arctic Monkeys: bitches listen to one arctic monkeys song and think they’re indie, yeah, it’s me. I’m bitches.
Apocalypse by Cigarettes After Sex: wow, really proving my own point about only listening to very well-known indie music.
Greek God by Conan Gray: This song just FEELS aesthetic and I don’t quite understand that but I still like it.
Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood: it’s actually been a minute since I last heard this, but I still like it! I was def more attached to this song about two years ago, so I don’t have much to say about it anymore.
Summer is a Curse by The Faim: I actually heard this on a German tv show once and LOVED it. I really didn’t have any idea that Ashton was involved until a few months ago and I was like “wait, what??” it’s def a v good song, but I feel uncomfy endorsing/supporting it bc of the sexual misconduct allegations against one of the Faim’s members. Unfortunate, really, but that’s not something I can really get past.
Bang! by AJR: I’m surprised AJR hasn’t shown up sooner tbh. The “Metronome” line and “pretend you know this song everybody” are CONSTANTLY stuck in my head. If I could choose any concert to go to, it would be either AJR or 5SOS. They actually had a really cool socially-distant drive-in concert yesterday, but it was in Philly, which is a bit too far to drive the week before college starts.
Formidable by Stromae: <3 the song I was listening to when I made an ao3 account <3 I feel like I know too many people who had a Stromae phase. I don’t even understand French music all that well, but this is a bop.
Hasta el Amanecer by Nicky Jam: Damn, I just realized that there’s music in four languages on this list now. We stan multilingualism. This is one that I do actually understand most of the lyrics for, so we love that. It was fun listening to this again, bc I really haven’t heard it in at least a year.
Higher by The Score: The album that this is from came out on my birthday a few years ago! (just realized that there’s no recent music on this list, and if one thing describes my music taste accurately, it’s finding music a few years after it was released/popular). This is back from my soccer-playing days, and it was one of my pump-up songs for bus rides to away games. I think I might put this album back on regular rotation bc this is actually quite good!
No Control by One Direction: what even is there to say? I wasn’t really into 1D while they were actually active (rip me), and this is the song that made me give them a chance (chonce). perfect note to end on.
As for tagging others, I think I’ve avoided it enough times that I kind of have to now, so sorry in advance if 1. you’ve already done this/ been tagged and/ or 2. you have no idea who I am and are confused as to why I’m acting like I know you. I’ll just do the first ten people who pop up when I type the at symbol: @originalashstan @tothemoonmikey @5sos-fan-boy @calumcest @ashesonthefloor @kaleidoscopeminds @mashlums @poisonjaffas @tirednotflirting @fuckyeah5sostakemehome

TAG GAME
“8 people I’d like to get to know better”
Thank you for the tag @harlot-of-oblivion 🙏💖 I'm putting it on this blog instead, just because it feels a bit more relevant to have here as opposed to my main. 🤔
Favorite colors: Purple, grey, yellow. 😌
Last song I listened to: Starlight by The Supermen Lovers
Favorite musicians/singer: I never know what to say here because I don't really have any faves? Just artists/composers I like, but not enough that they'd fall into this category djsjsk. That, and the regulars on my playlist always seem a bit out of left field and I get embarrassed about it HAHAHAHAH.
Last film I watched: Home Alone 2. 🤣 I watched it for Christmas on my own when it was free with my set top box, but my bro came around recently and we watched it again for the nostalgia. He loved that movie so much when he was a kid.
Last TV show I watched: Vikings. But like season 2. Because I am miles behind.
Favorite TV show: Gintama. It's an animu but it technically counts. It's also the only thing I can think of that would fit ahsjdk. That show has resonated deeply with me for over a decade at this point. Still love it very deeply.. 😌
Favorite OC: You'd think it'd be Punchy given how gung ho I've been about her recently, but it's actually Liviere. Who the hell is Liviere? I'll mention her soon....ish.
Sweet, savory or spicy: Probably savory. 🤔
Sparkling water, coffee or tea: Gimme my covfefe. Do not come between me and my covfefe. I take it with milk, no sugar. Unless it's a bad coffee. 😬
Pets: I love by myself and also work 5 days a week, so as much as I would love having a dog (pittbulls are my fave breed!!!), I couldn't bear to leave them at home by themselves so often and for such long stretches of time. 😭😭 The solution to that would be to get two dogs, but that's a bit too high maintenance for my current lifestyle. 😔 I'm thinking of getting some cockatiels instead, to fill the animal friend void in my heart. His name would be Birdgil. And his brother would be Dantweet. 👀
No I do not take criticism.
I’m tagging: @bettybattaglia @julieis5ftofdork @noiroux @frostbyte13 @shiranyaaww @miriashikin @cantcopewithlosingv and honestly if you wanna do this then go for it!! 🙏💖

u know how racist taylor swift is right lol
I do know which is why 13 hrs ago I reblogged a whole post abt her racism. she was the only musical artist I listened to until I was 14 bc my parents aren't musical ppl so she has more nostalgia for me than just abt anything. I don't care for her very much and I haven't bought anything from her in years.
i also just wanna ask u.....u could follow me when I post a lot of mcu and spn both of which are really racist and mysogynistic. the mcu gets money from the military bc it's basically propoganda. harry potter and jkr are widely known to be homophobia, transphobic, racist, and xenophobic. Chris Evans has said some p sexist and homophobic stuff and was also in a movoe that glorified the IDF. Sebastian Stan has also said a lot of gross things and isn't known for being an icon of p.c. Sm:itsv was a great movie! and it made poor choices with how it designed peni Parker. pjo is still one of my fav book series and there are a myriad of ways in which Rick rioridian fucked up in those books(poor rep all around tbh). trc is not the pinnacle of writing it's fans pretend it is (anti feminist MAIN characters, poor lgbt rep, anti asian racism, xenophobia). POTC (one of my fav. movie series) is a colonial wet dream w Depp in a main role, all the "historical" film I love and rb about (Emma, Little women, etc) are Very White and often make the female actresses do 21st-century-hygine while pretending to be historically accurate. the boys is "edgy" and has a lot of gross dialogue and it also falls into the racist steryotype/caricatur of a mute asian assassin. atla is fetishising asian (esp Tibetan) culture and portrays characters w darker skin to be more evil and also gives a lot of it's characters blue eyes which is :/ bc most asian or indigenous ppl don't have blue eyes. tons of actors and directors who I like(or I like their work) support things I think are bad(woody Allen, Peta, Scientology, dieting schticks, trump, anti-corona, Polanski, etcetc)
like I'm not trying to minimize what Taylor's done or attack you or whatever. you can dislike Taylor swift, you can be annoyed that I'm reblogging her, you can unfollow/block me idgaf.
I'm not trying to make this into a "don't u dare attack Taylor she is a precious bean/omg women should support women not drag them down" thing bc she should be criticized but I do find it very funny that after having this blog for years and posting a lot of ~problematic stuff and also being pretty anti-tony (my anti tony tag is embarrassingly large & I made it too the anti-tony stark blocklist 😘✌️) that after posting, like a dozen??? gifs of her I've gotten 2 asks abt her. like yeah she has done a lot of things I take issue with, yes her album is hypocritical, yes I think she can and should do better, yes I can do all of that and still enjoy her new album bc literally every single thing in this whole godforsaken planet has smth problematic abt it.
anyways go call ur reps abt an issue u care abt

@catefrankie tagged me to list my top 11 comfort movies !! it took me a month but i’m doing it because i have recently come upon a time when i was in great need of comfort so here we go. also i HATE rewatching films, so movies on this list are incredibly special
1. mama mia
can’t express how much i love this film...colin firth, beautiful scenery, fun costumes, abba...the pure fluff the pure escapism....i could live here (also worth noting...mama mia: here we go again, all of the fun of the first mama mia, except now all three guys are hot and not just colin firth....i could also live here)
2. spirited away
OH to be whisked away by a smart and kind boy who will protect me and can also turn in to a dragon.....also the music
3. guernsey literary and potato peel society
we have had the conversation before that guernsey is just the wholesome version of mama mia....mama mia is for my wild and untamed escapism, guernsey for my soft, loving escapism
4. any muppet movie ever
the comfort......the humor...the sweet senseless camaraderie...the nostalgia...it doesn’t get any better. name one reason you would marry a kermit other than that he’s a frog
5. dr. horrible’s sing along blog
it’s a little overly nerdy and niche even for me but i imprinted on this when i was like 11 and won’t let go...it’s goofy and the songs absolutely SLAP. also, they used to shadowcast it at cons and it was always some of the best con memories i have
6. stardust
i’m highlighting this becuase it’s SO underrated and SO good...neil gaimen is such a wonderful storyteller, and charlie cox (while still responsible for some of the worst romantic decisions of my life) is my man. it’s a period piece and an adventure romp and it’s a FAIRY TALE and she’s a STAR and i won’t hear a word against this film i simply won’t
7. pirates of the caribbean: the black pearl
i have been watching this comfort movie for a decade, i won’t stop any time soon. my collection of things with will turner’s face on them slowly grows...my love for him never diminishes. it absolutely engages me everytime i watch it and even when it doesn’t i simply need to look at orlando bloom or keira nightly to be entertained long enough 2 continue
8. any MST3K specials
if you were raised on MST3K, i think it forms you in a way nothing else can...they’re funny and silly and goofy and just ridiculous enough to be good-hearted and just critical and sly enough to be genuinly funny.
9. spiderman: far from home
idk fam i just really like this movie...tom holland does a really good job, spiderman is iconic, the humor is just that classic teenage coming of age movie done really well....i like superhero movies but i LOVE this movie in a different, special way...one of the few movies i saw more than once in theaters bc i just genuinly loved it
10. knives out
it’s not really a COMFORT movie in the sense that i can watch it and feel safe and calm, it’s an ESCAPE movie. if i’ve got problems that i wanna IGNORE, i watch knives out. it’s funny and engaging and cool and every time i notice a new detail that i think is really smart and amazing, and also the core message of this murder movie is that if you are kind and polite then the world will be right and that is incredibly important to me
11. paddington 2
referring to the earlier statement....paddington 2 has my WHOLE heart. it is so heartwarming, so sweet and kind and fun, paddington is just so endearing and wholesome...richard ayoade is in it...you can take the whole family....i just love paddington bear..........
i tag anyone who wants to do it!! lord knows i have like 3 mutuals these days even but if u are here and reading this then do it and let me know bc i always need new movies!!

Tagged by @falloutglow! Thank you!!
Top 3 ships: hooo boy I mean just recently? (because I do not love older ones any less but y’know) Fjord/Caduceus (Critical Role), Nick/Deacon (Fallout 4), aaaand probably Molly/Caleb (also Critical Role)
Lipstick or Lipbalm: Lipbalm, I have,, so many
Last Song I listened to: Cut the Cord by Ninja Tracks -- not familiar with it, it was just on a spotify playlist
Last movie I watched: Code 8 on Netflix. Which was a little extra cool because technically I helped fund it!
Reading: I powered through Resenting the Hero the other day, thanks to random nostalgia reminding me of it. Other than that......random fics. My own fics.
Watching: At this very moment, Mysteries of the Abandoned. We’re still slowly getting through campaign 2 of Critical Role and when I’ve got nothing else to do I usually put on like, Parks and Rec or something
as per usual i’m real bad at tagging people. and also lazy. tag me in it if you wanna do the thing!
