Can't post the beginning of my fluff fics, and I know I can do it on mobile but I hate mobile ao3's tag system, and now my brain is trying to fight me to create a Gundam LU au and I'm slowly thinking about drawing/writing it, and now I'm trying to decide whether or not I have Sky as a living person or have his soul stuck in a system, aka that system is Fi I guess, that is imputed into the Chain's mobile suits like Blue Destiny's EXAM system with a LITERAL child's soul in it. Actually that happens alot in Gundam, maybe I can do it to First instead and have everyone be a biological clone with other people's DNA mixed in so the clones don't fall apart, except Twi and Wind. Twi actually Time's kid with Malon, and Wind found Time's abandoned mobile suit/Gundam on Earth (because Time technically is MIA and also getting hunted down by the government for running away from a War even though it was over also gives the downfall and Adult timeline bullshit). Ffffucccckkkkkk I'm actually into this AU now. FUCK! I like this AU and it might become a real thing.

✅ What’s something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don’t mean to? Hmmm... a lot of dialogue tags, but hopefully the interesting ones! I find myself using "snapped" or "offered" or those sorts of things pretty often when characters speak. "Said" is all right, and I try to mix it up with actions, but in large group scenes, the speaker is going to be switching up a lot and it needs to be clear who's saying what pretty early on!

🤯 What’s a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)? (And, because it's always interesting to hear: why?) Genre? Um... Thriller, I suppose. I don't love a lot of tension in things I read or watch, and I don't feel like my writing is technically proficient enough to do things like handle tight plots of intrigue and mystery with defined stakes and clear puzzle pieces. Besides, a lot of writing I do is for fun and stress relief, so it ends up being hurt/comfort or fluff.

🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels? Reunions!! Yes, incandescently happy is full of them, it can be classified as a reunion fic in general. There's just something about people who love each other seeing each other again that's just lovely. It's easy to find in LU, but also in Four Swords, due to the getting-Shadow-back trope. XD

🙋‍♀️ Do any irl people know you write fanfic? Mostly just members of my family! I'll tell my parents that I wrote so many words in the last little while so they can marvel at my brilliance (and my mother usually follows it up with "it's a shame you're not writing original fiction you could sell" but that is a whole other can of worms.) My brother actually beta read the last chapter of Marvelous Misadventures (I paid him $1/1k words, and he was legitimately helpful), and apparently is subscribed to me on AO3, though he hasn't read anything by his own admission. It's a little weird to know that he could, though.

Lucifer was, quite literally, buried in his work. Had been so for at least a few hours now. In his state of overwork, the demon had even ended up completely skipping dinner. With the festival fast approaching, he needed to quickly go through the applications and finalise the acts that would be the most suitable for the talent show. 

As he went through what must have been the hundredth application, he heard a knock on the door that led inside his office. He bristled, ready to flip off at whichever brother of his it was.

“Come in.” He called out to the person in a rather irritated voice.

“Lucifer~” Came in a very familiar feminine voice, causing him to look up.

And fuck everything if that wasn’t a mistake on the archdemon’s part as he felt his slacks tighten around the area of his crotch at the sight in front of him. The blonde entered the room, sauntering over in his direction, her hips swaying to an imaginary beat. On her way over, she noticed his state of undress; his coat long gone. tie hanging loosely around his neck with the top few buttons of his shirt undone, and his usual, perfectly coiffed hair in disarray. 

“Why, can’t I even check on you now, Lucifer?~” She asked in a purr as he took her hand in his and pulled her into his lap. But before she landed, his hand smacked her rear with a loud clap, causing her ass cheeks to bounce a bit as she moaned.

“Don’t think I don’t know why you’re here, little mouse. I could smell you when you were still at the entrance.” The raven-haired demon informed her with a smirk as she squirmed in his lap, his hard-on poking her ass. He wasn’t wrong though. While he had been elbows deep in his work, Ariadne had gone and gotten herself all hot and bothered. All thanks to the anime she had been watching while waiting for him to finish.

But yeah! I got some headcanons for the engineer/Spirits I can share!

These headcanons are a mix of things I generally believe for any iteration of the Hero of Spirits and a few things exclusive to CTB. It's pretty obvious which are which.

Technically this is slight spoilers since most of this is not mentioned in-story, but Warriors is a such a self-centered asshole that I'm not sure when I can get him to explicitly ask about Spirit's backstory lol

This got super long and kind of just became me talking about Spirits's entire backstory, so enjoy:

Spirits is sixteen during the course of Spirit Tracks, mostly because that was the vibe I got from him when I first played the game (I made him younger for CTB)

He's not descendant from Wind (who I maintain disappeared instead of settling in New Hyrule); instead, he's Aryll's great grandson

His family name used to be Outset, but when everyone who originally immigrated from Outset island took on that last name, they changed it to Aryll to reflect the family matriarch

So Spirit's full name is Link Aryll, though there is a branch of his family that uses Macaryll instead

The Aryll/Macaryll family is huge; everyone has at least six aunts and uncles on all sides of the family and they can trace back how they are related to Aryll

"I'm Grandma Aryl's third son's second daughter's fifth child." -someone Spirits is related to, probably

He actually never met his great grandmother; she died before he was born.

Spirit's dad was full-blooded Lokomo while his mother was Hylian; his mother passed a few months after he was born after never truly recovering from childbirth while his father died in a fishing accident when he was eight

He went to live with an aunt and uncle who owned a general store; their relationship was polite at best. The aunt and uncle told Spirits upfront that they intended to give the store over to his cousin when he was older so Spirits needed to come up with his own life plan

Spirits didn't necessarily mind since he never wanted to work in a store for the rest of his life, but the ultimatum made it clear that they didn't care for him like a son

To this day, their relationship isn't strained and he doesn't hate them. But whenever they meet, he's overly polite; they're more acquaintances than family

He's cool with his cousin though. They have different interests so they aren't best friends, but they're okay.

Spirits also always had his spirit-sensing abilities. It's really like a sixth sense to him, as normal and automatic as seeing and hearing; he actually didn't realize this wasn't normal until he was a little older

His abilities at this point are limited to sensing vague ideas of a person's spirit (if they're light or dark, etc.), and seeing ghosts (which are really rare. You have to have a lot of power yourself to become one)

(Note: I'm not the only one who headcanons Spirits as having spirit sensing abilities; if you know who can up with the idea, please let me know so that I can tag/credit them!)

The elder of his village told him that select Lokomo had minor spirit sensing abilities, and those who did were traditionally made elders of their villages; being more of a follower than a leader, Spirits adamantly dismissed that idea and refused to be trained on how to hone his spirit senses. He also never learned any of the religion behind it

Which was a little worrisome since his abilities are way stronger than most

Besides, he's always liked trains and it's been his dream to travel around the kingdom as an engineer; being some town's elder would get in the way of that

Anyway, Spirits had to pass a written exam before being accepted as an apprentice engineer, so he's very studious and has a lot of drive (pun unintended?)

He went to live with his Uncle Niko during his apprenticeship in another town; Niko isn't related to him, but he's been a friend of the family for so long that everyone secretly thinks he's actually related to someone and they just forgot who

Niko is his real family, hands down. Those two are as thick as thieves and bring out the wild side in each other

A preteen Spirits used to think Niko was a little lame and kind of embarrassing, but now that he's older, he's all for Niko's weird old man-ness and has even picked up on some of his weird old man-ness himself

That being said, they're both disasters. Neither can clean or cook or do any kind of housekeeping and their shared house is cluttered with Niko's art projects and Spirit's half-finished tinkering

Growing up, Spirits had no idea he was related to the legendary Hero of Wind; Aryll died before he was born, but even in life she was filled with too much grief over her missing brother to discuss it often. Within the family, being related to the Hero of Wind is a rumor at best.

Of course, Niko knows but keeps it a secret from Spirits; once he got back from his LU-adventure, Wind told Niko about the curse of the Hero's Spirit. Then he went missing post-New Hyrule's founding, which really drove the terror of the curse home. Niko thought he could keep Wind's family from falling victim to it by not inadvertently encouraging them to follow in Wind's footsteps

So Niko kept it a secret

And obviously, that didn't work

Spirits' quest to save New Hyrule resulted in him realizing that he needed to embrace his Lokomo heritage and get a handle on his spirit powers; Anjean gave him a little training during his quest but afterwards he traveled around the kingdom to find as many people as he could with abilities like his

They were all really excited to teach him what they knew, especially the religious aspects of the abilities; Spirits is still not the most religious person, but he at least understands and embraces the cultural significance of what he is able to do

This is where he learned how to read a person's Spirit to get an idea of their life experiences and the kind of person they're like; he can also detect where a person is without having to put much effort into it

At Zelda's encouragement, he also got more sword training from the Castle Guard. She offered him a place among them, but he turned it down in favor of remaining an engineer. He still helps around as a swordsman when he can and will act as Zelda's body guard

Speaking of which, he and Zelda are 100% in love. Their relationship started out as puppy love but over the years as matured into a deep connection built on mutual respect

When he's working on designing new engines or parts for his trains, he occasionally brings his drafting materials to the castle gardens so that he can work alongside Zelda; sometimes she falls asleep leaning against his arm and he has to be careful not to shake her awake as he works

Whenever she need to go anywhere in the kingdom, she rides in his train and teasingly criticizes his conducting; he takes a lot of pride in his conducting, but he lets her get away with it since her critiques are objectively hilarious

He keeps a tiny pictograph of her taped to his dashboard

But there's a bit of a problem with their relationship, and it's that he doesn't know if he wants to be the prince consort or not. He does love her, but that would mean giving up being an engineer in favor of being stuck at the castle all of the time

Plus, he's doing great as an engineer; he's saving up to open his own garage that produces his own train designs

Eventually, he leaves for the War of Eras

His experiences with Warriors leaves him more sure than ever that he doesn't want to be the prince consort, resulting in him ending his relationship with Zelda shortly after he returns home

It hurts for a long time to be around her since all of his old feelings keep coming back, so he keeps his distance for a long time; it takes a few years for him to go back to hanging out with Zelda as friends

But now she's approaching marriage age, and he spends a lot of time when he's on body guard duty super jealous of these princes and ambassadors from foreign kingdoms who try to court her

But again, he knows he can't be in a relationship with her so he respectfully and silently pines over her (I'm just a sucker for pining, okay?)

Okay, more random headcanons that are a little less sad

Spirits likes super spicy food, but since he can't cook to save his own life, he just eats whatever he can get his hands on

He's super dirty all of the time, just the epitome of scrappy; there's always a smear of oil somewhere on his person

He actually really hates bathing and only keeps his curly hair in check to comply with train safety regulations

He's really polite and a little shy, but once he loosens up, he gets talkative and personable

He's also very contemplative; he likes conducting so much because he gets to spend long stretches of time alone with nothing but his thoughts

His trauma/stress response is to shut down; he goes quiet, loses energy, and sleeps for longer periods of time

He tends to gravitate towards socializing with people who are older than him, which gets him labeled as being no fun by his peers (despite having someone as cooky as Niko for a uncle)

Post-adventure, his best friend is Linebeck III. They're drinking buddies. Neither can really explain why they even like hanging out as much as they do

(I just like the idea of Linebeck accidentally getting attached to one kid and his whole bloodline getting forever tangled with Wind's; they're bros for multiple lifetimes)

Not only is Spirits good at designing and building new machinery, but he's great at tinkering; he can fix almost anything and will buy broken things on purpose just to have something to fix

No one really knows he's a hero; he doesn't like the attention and, at his request, Zelda did her best to keep his involvement with Malladus a secret

Because not many common people know about his adventure and records of New Hyrule are very rare, he's considered in Warrior's time to be a forgotten hero; some scholars believe that a Hero of Spirits may have once existed, but if he did, no one really knows who he was or what he did to serve the bloodline of Hylia

Visiting the manhua tag and found this sooooo…here’s some recs!: 😆

You mentioned manhua specifically, and the most fitting example I can think of for this is My Ex, the King, which is a transmigration (commonly known by Japanese media fans as “isekai”) story as well as a time loop story. Basically, an actor gets transmigrated into a world and is tasked by his System (another common trope in transmigration) to kill the king. Only problem is, he runs into a bandit who looks exactly like his ex back home, and then when he meets the king…he also looks like his ex!

Oh, and of course, every time he dies, the story loops back to a certain point. 🫢

Unfortunately, this one isn’t fully translated from what I know, but it’s still a pretty enjoyable read. One of the deaths has always stuck with me because it was that much of a moment that made me go “goddamn,” and it has really pretty art. Suuuuper slow-burn though!

Now this next one isn’t a manhua and it’s honestly a spoiler for me to promote it this way, which made me waffle on how to mention it. But hey, if time loops are what draw you into checking out a story, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to spoil this part of it to try and draw you in, and I’ll also try to do it as vaguely as possible:

Basically, Link Click is a donghua that involves time travel.

It starts off pretty slice-of-life, but it has some hard-hitting moments that will really get you in the feels, especially in the cases based on real life. And by cases, I’m referring to how the two main characters, Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang, time travel into photographs to help clients.

Cheng Xiaoshi is the one with the power to “dive” into photos, while Lu Guang is the one with the power to “see” what happened within the 12 hours the photo was taken, and thus acts as Cheng Xiaoshi’s guide, as Cheng Xiaoshi’s dive leads to him being in the photographer’s body.

This one is technically the most popular donghua out there (outside of danmei adaptations like Tian Guan Ci Fu (ironically the donghua adaptation of Tian Guan Ci Fu is directed by the same guy lol; he has quite a few well-praised projects under his belt, including these two but also Ringing Fate and the upcoming To Be Hero X)), as it has gotten actual huge attention from international fans, which is (sadly) a difficult feat for donghua to achieve!

It’s thus also got an additional cdrama, manhua, audio drama on MaoEr FM, and even a musical and dance musical—all of which is new content.

As for the donghua itself, it is on Crunchyroll, but I have a few notes about this:

I have a vendetta against Crunchyroll as they only promote donghua when they get English or Japanese dubs, and since donghua and Chinese VAs in general get a lot of shit or no attention from international fans, I really do recommend the original Chinese version! Even more so since when the official Japanese dub for Link Click came out, pirating sites changed their labels for the Chinese one to be a “dub” while not having any label for the Japanese dub. 🙄

Plus some things simply don’t get translated in official English dubs or subs otl. A big one I can think of besides the usual honourifics/forms of address of “Ge” or “Jie” or “A-yi” etc is one in episode 1, where Cheng Xiaoshi laughs at the nickname “Guangguang” for Lu Guang because doubling up a word in Chinese sounds cutesy. Then he jokingly asks if they should call dogs “Wangwang,” aka the chinese onomatopoeia for dogs barking. From what I can see, this joke didn’t translate at all into the English dub LDGJDKSH.

The donghua VAs return for the audio drama, actually! And both VAs are super skilled. For example, Cheng Xiaoshi’s VA (Su Shangqing) is also the main character VA in Beryl and Sapphire; voices Jin Ling, a pretty prominent character in the donghua adaptation of the the popular series Mo Dao Zu Shi; and shows off his range by also voicing a crueller, more psychopathic character in the audio drama adaptation of Additional Inheritance. Meanwhile, Lu Guang’s VA, Yang Tianxiang, from what I can confirm, even has a contract with the famous animation studio, Light Chaser Animations, voicing multiple characters in their movies—including a starring role in the magnificent 30,000 Miles from Chang’an as historical poet Gao Shi, where his voice sounds quite different, and he even acts out a stutter.

And as a bonus personal fun fact, he and Su Shangqing have both been in BL audio dramas (as many Chinese VAs have done LGBTQ+ audio drama work lol), but they’re even part of the same series, just different novels! As I mentioned, Su Shangqing was in Additional Inheritance, which is a novel in the 188男团 series, and Yang Tianxiang was in another 188男团 audio drama, Yet You Love an Idiot. I’d only recommend that series if you’re into dog blood (angst) and crematoriums (love interest fucking up and then chasing the protagonist to beg for forgiveness and try to redeem themselves) though SLFNSKSH.

Oh, and they’re both in Beryl and Sapphire and a couple other donghua, but not as starring characters together. 😆

Double oh! Beryl and Sapphire, a donghua based on a manhua that features stick figures, has a very fun premise…: since the manhua features stick figures, they’re very flexible and the author likes telling all kinds of stories with them. This means some chapters are just one-off gags, the characters can even change gender depending on what the story needs, there are a bunch of different worlds, and some are long-running arcs—basically, it’s a story built up of tons of AUs.

The donghua’s season 1 OP cleverly references this by having the main characters appear as actors in the OP:

And well, I’m suddenly telling you about Beryl and Sapphire because I just remembered it has a time loop arc and a timey-wimey arc. The time loop one is even one of the earliest episodes (I think episode…3???), where in this world, Sapphire discovers that he can suddenly loop back to the scene before his death after dying. This leads to him obviously taking advantage of his newfound powers, to the detriment of his friendship with the gentle Beryl…

And there’s a timey-wimey arc later involving memories. Both stories are quite sad. 🤧

Anyway, sorry for going on such a long tangent here. I usually just summarize and recommend, but was struck with a grievance for Chinese VAs this time around (sorry!). But I do still have more recommendations below!

Back to manhua, only the beginning of this one has a little bit of a time loop, but it’s still a good read so I’ll recommend it on the premise that it’s a fun time. 😅

Kiss the Abyss features a young game developer named Wang Zixin (nicknamed “Wangzi,” aka Prince), whose video game character comes into the real world and kills him. This becomes a time loop until Wang Zixin does something that drags him into the game world, where he must now prevent his game character from going evil—all while trying to survive what is basically Squid Game before Squid Game came out!

This one is fully translated! It was lucky enough to wrap up before Bilibili, where it was produced, shut down their English app for manhua. The author behind it is also responsible for other popular manhua, like I Have to Be a Great Villain (world-hopping story; guy transmigrates into fictional villain roles but is hindered from fulfilling his System’s task of being a villain by a protagonist who can read minds, with a deeper conspiracy behind why this is) and I’m Sick (an otherwise relatively well-adjusted yet obsessive stalker finds out the crush he follows, a seemingly aloof but gentle veterinarian, is actually a cold-blooded murderer).

Moving to another medium, this time cdrama, Reset is highly rated (it has a 9 on MyDramaList, an 8 on IMDb, a 9.6 on Viki, and a 7.9 on Douban, a Chinese rating platform that is notoriously “strict,” so 7.9 is still quite a good sign!).

This one features a girl who discovers she’s stuck in a time loop where the bus she’s on is rigged to explode, and it’s all about her—and the boy she drags into the time loop with her—trying to figure out what causes the explosion and how they can stop it.

I thiiiink it’s on Netflix? I mean, Reddit says it is, but I don’t have Netflix so I can’t confirm, especially since I know Netflix selections vary from country to country and Netflix will additionally often remove shows from their collection. :c

That being said, cdramas are the most popular form of Chinese media internationally, so it shouldn’t be too hard to locate with good English subs! If it’s not on YouTube because of the Netflix deal (as most cdramas are free on YouTube unless they get so popular a foreign streaming site picks them up, then they usually get taken down from YouTube), it may also be on Viki or any number of sites.

Honestly for cdramas, if I go back to the whole “I’ll recommend this even though the time loop is only a little part of it” that I did with Kiss the Abyss, I could then recommend Love Game in Easter Fantasy (the official English title) aka Eternal Night of the Starry River (the original Chinese title’s meaning) aka Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus (based on a novel that also has a manhua adaptation, both of which goes by this third title)…but time looping isn’t a big focus in this one. In some ways, it’s present, but in other ways, it’s not exactly right…

Well, you’ll know what I mean if you watch it asjakfl—and it is a very popular series now, so I also recommend it for the other good stuff! Fans even go on to watch Moonlight, a completely different cdrama that both main actors also starred in, just because they crave more of the two—and it works as a sequel in some ways due to similar ideas and character [backgrounds].

But hey, now writing this list out makes me realize I’ve got the M/M, I’ve got the M/F, and I’ve even got the third secret Chinese media option of possible queer ship via queer-coding since queer-baiting is impossible in China where the ambiguity is part of the fun because censorship is a thing so sometimes creators embrace the ambiguity and fans can too and let their imaginations run wild via the “sworn brotherhood” (which is deeper than but almost like a bromance) trope—and yes, I am referring to Link Click here…

But I’m just missing F/F. And while I can’t confirm if there’s a baihe (Chinese F/F) manhua right now that does time loops exactly, I do know of a baihe novel that does!

It’s Bo Zhou (柏舟) by Ruo Hua Ci Shu, and from what I’ve seen, it’s pretty praised as suspenseful and well-written. The story covers a woman doing her best to save the life of her girlfriend over and over again.

I’m not sure if this one is fully translated though. 😔

You caaaan technically find Chinese novels usually pretty easily online and then MTL. Most cost money, although can be quite cheap, and there may be other sites with the text for free—although if you do enjoy a work, I do recommend supporting it if you are able! But that’s getting ahead of myself SLFJSKD.

As for danmei (Chinese M/M), beyond manhua, there’s even more novels out there with the time loop premise. One person has compiled a list here on NovelUpdates, and there’s another one here, although neither fully distinguishes between time travel and time loop.

One thing the first list identifies is some more supernatural, horror-y, sci-fi-esque novels, with ties to a genre commonly known as “infinite/unlimited flow.” This involves characters entering multiple moments in time/worlds and having to solve mysteries, sometimes from a higher power.

From what I can gather, Mist, one such infinite flow novel, has a slight time loop arc that fans call the ouroboros arc. Similarly, Death Spiral; The Earth Is Online; and Global Examination are other novels in slightly similar genre settings that feature some sort of “time loop.” For Global Examination, as an example, it involves a supernatural “exam,” where some people are divided into contestants and some into examiners by a powerful System, and here we have a contestant and an examiner who slowly—very slowly—fall in love…for mayhaps not the first time, in mayhaps not the same situation they are in now, even if they can’t remember it clearly… 🫣

All of the danmei novels I mentioned above are actually decently popular, even in the west, but Global Examination especially enjoys enough attention there’s quite a bit of content you can sift through!: the original novel has been licensed for an official English translation by Rosmei, it has an audio drama adaptation on MaoEr FM, and it also has a manhua adaptation that is thankfully still being fan-translated even after the official English version of the Bilibili manhua app shut down.

And so, that’s all I can think of for now! Ah, there’s also Sunset’s Backstage Pass from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: Equestria Girls, but that isn’t Chinese media lol. Still a pretty cute special covering a time loop though (it does technically require some background knowledge of the show and specifically the EQG spin-off, but not completely!). And hey, MLP FiM has seen a resurgence boom in China that led to Chinese-exclusive merch and stuff recently so…maybe close enough? KDHKSHDJ.

But back to Chinese media, which is my usual focus, while I can’t think of any other time loop stories right now, I’ll drop my recommendations lists if you ever get curious about the rest of the Chinese media scene in a more general sense (mostly because I offer resources in them anyway, so why not share, right? 😆)!:

Meaning the author stops getting paid entirely. And that's the BETTER outcome. That ✨️clever tiktok trick✨️ for renting reading and returning books on amazon? I g e t the need for free books. Everything is expensive right now and $20 for a book that will take you a day to read feels obscene. Go to your local library. Don't gimme that 'but they don't have the book I want' shit--have you Asked? Because beloved guess what? When we genuinely don't have a book you want to read we reach out to sister branches in the area until we find a copy for you! It's called an interlibrary loan and it's completely normal! Sometimes there's a shipping fee if it had to come across state borders. Did you know you can also suggest books we add to our catalogue? And I remind you getting a library card is free. And we have half dozen online resources that are also made free by your having a library card. You Do need a piece of mail with 'your' address on it but besties. Y'all. Do you think we have the kind of time to check if you're giving us Your address or your Grandparent's address? No. Just give us the address of some family member in the area, it doesn't really matter much, you can change or update it whenever. Don't tell anyone I suggested that though lol.

On a very selfish level, our counties don't like giving us our yearly budget. The old cis white capitalist men, shockingly, don't seem to like the beacon of socialism that is public libraries. A lot of the time the excuse they use to literally just not pay us is 'the youth of today don't use libraries anymore, they're more interested in *insert 'them video games' schpiel*'

If you came to the library they wouldn't have that excuse anymore. We're not the cardigan wearing shushers in the movies I swear. We've got Mario kart wii in our teen room.

I'm sorry you lost your book piracy website, genuinely I am. You should have been using the library all along though. Pirating books Does hurt the author. And libraries nowadays have massive digital catalogues so even if you aren't physically close to one there is enormous f r e e benefit to getting a library card. Please god go to your local library

Honestly one of my favorite things about botw is how the typical roles and attributes for Zelda and Link are swapped, she’s the one associated with the color green, at least much more than he is. She can hear the voice of the sword and he can hear Hylia, he’s the one shown to automatically know his duty and be born with a perfect hold on his ‘powers’ and destiny. She’s the hero that held off the calamity and he’s the one lying sleeping in a tomb like a Disney princess, waiting to be woken up by the voice of someone who is heavily implied to romantically love him. She’s the one who learns to control her anger and pride while Link stoically bears his burden with a stoney expression. She’s the one motivated by unflinching dedication and even though her bloodline is supposed to communicate with the dead, the only person we ever see do so is Link. I mean even in TotK his hair is longer than hers!

I adore how fucking tiny Link is in botw. He’s smaller than every character who isn’t a literal five year old by a considerable margin. Like it baffles me when he’s depicted as not a full foot smaller than any normal sized npc. As close as we can compare him to is a few teenage girl npcs. He’s also an absolute menace. He climbs walls like a lizard and takes out legions of monsters no sweat but he’s still so short. I love him so tiny and we should talk about it more.

There’s something so devastating about botw’s world from a lore standpoint. There are exciting famous places from earlier games but they’re all in ruins. There are the skeletons of creatures who were once known to be deities and whispers of so many names that we’ve heard before but mean nothing to the people of this world. Gods like the wind fish and Levias (and technically the fierce deity) and even the might of the master sword are all long dead or incredibly weak versions of what they once were.

This world is so unbelievably old. But there are still stories and pieces of the history of Hyrule that live on even after the apocalypse. And I think that’s pretty cool.

Have you ever received hate on a fic? well... 2 years ago there was an incident in which I worded something in a way that offended people (yes, I could have worded it much better, but I was a minor and the topic I was referring to was deeply uncomfortable because it involved minors, so I was harsh about how I said that the fic was not related to that topic, I guess). anyway I got a few comments by people who were upset by what I said and someone even made a post about it here on tumblr that also got a lot of negative comments, and I got reported at least twice and sent a warning by Ao3 (the fic also got locked for a while and I ended up just deleting it to spare further incidents, because I did not feel like apologizing for what I said since in my opinion it was justified). If anyone is curious about the details send me an ask or dm and I'll tell you about it privately, I don't really want to talk about it publicly though because I know there are probably people who would still get mad at me for it, so 😅 (even though the topic was, like I said, something deeply uncomfortable and gross which is why I was so adamant about stating that my fic was NOT part of it)

I'm hoping to change that with my fic the faces left behind, it's currently at 18 chapters and 67,287 words, and I have all the final chapters planned out so I just gotta write them!

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I think it's okay, like a few words or so, just so long as it's not half the fic with no translation, I suppose. I mean, it's easy enough to copy and paste but (not to sound pretentious or mean, sorry) if the fic says it's written in one language and then you find out that a lot of it is in another that just...doesn't make sense to me?

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? ooo dang hm. see, the thing about me is that when I like something I'll typically write fanfic for it, but oftentimes I just won't finish said fanfic, so it never gets published. So most of the fandoms I "haven't written for" are actually ones I have written for, I just haven't published for them yet, if that makes sense 😅 a few I can think of like this are Newsies, Hunger Games, Pirates of the Caribbean, Artful Dodger, and OTGW. 🌺 - That’s a hard tie between Patchwork & Indigo (Shadow-joins-the-lu-gang-instead-of-Four au) and Everything Goes Away (lovingly referred to as “lu traitor au” 90% of the time). I’m not very far on progress for either of them, but they’re going to be longfics.

I’ve been working on EGA for much longer (like, since I first joined the fandom. So… about a year now. Good lord) and the plot is a lot more connected, and I think it has a lot more potential to be emotionally impactful, but I really love P&I’s vibes. I’m going into that fic with a specific vibe in mind and I like trying to keep to it. Plus I’m biased cause it’s Four Swords-centric, lmao.

✨ - Four, Vio, Legend, and… tbh, Sky.

Four just comes really easily to me due to how connected to him I feel, lol. I don’t have much else to say. I’m biased and I love him and he’s a joy to write, always.

Vio is… really really interesting to get into the perspective of. He just,, thinks. So much. And you have to stop and consider his actions every time— idk, Vio fascinates me and I love writing him.

Legend is a bit harder for me just because I’m not very good at coming up with snarky comebacks and the like, but I still enjoy writing him. Snarky characters my beloved. Give anyone a strong personality and I’ll love the hell out of writing them, lol.

As for Sky… he’s much harder for me to write. I’ve realized that I’m SUPER afraid of getting his characterization wrong and I really really wanna do him right… but when I’m not focusing on my worries I honestly love trying to let myself think the way he thinks. Those sort of nurturing, “i will lend my whole heart to you so you can find the comfort that you need” types of people are the some of the people that I admire the most, so it’s really nice to be able to write in their perspective. I’m not explaining it very well, but… yeah.

☄️ - Linked Universe and Four Swords, right now! I technically have some very very old abandoned Okami wips, but I have no plans of ever letting them see the light of day, lmao. I might dip into general LoZ someday though. It’d be cool to do a Minish Cap or Phantom Hourglass oneshot or smth… idk! We’ll see.

Luke watched, lips swollen and chest heaving, as Charlotte pulled away from him and grinned. Her once perfect red lipstick, a color that she rarely wore but he loved to see, was smudged and he had no doubt that it stained his own mouth and the collar of his shirt as he leaned against the back of their front door. They were celebrating their second Valentine’s Day, the first as an official, open for the world to scrutinize couple, and she had taken the holiday theme quite seriously. 

Charlotte’s hair, usually worn in subtle waves, was curled beautifully in a way that made Luke want to run his fingers. through it and bounced when she moved. Her lips were painted red, a cherry color that left stains Luke loved seeing on his skin, as were her nails. But none of those things seemed to matter when he took in the outfit she’d chosen. She wore a deep red, lace corset top, one with a v-neck deeper than he ever imagined she’d wear, with a white skirt that seemed to run just a little shorter than any of the others in her closet. It was new for her, daring and bold, and he’d struggled to keep his hands to himself throughout dinner.

Now, though, in the privacy of their home, he was free to touch her in any way she’d allow.

He watched, hands itching to reach out for her, as she stepped out of her heels and grabbed them off the floor. She glanced up at him, her eyes shining with mirth, before she turned and ran in the direction of the stairs. “Catch me if you can,” she called over her shoulder with a laugh and Luke couldn’t help but grin as he ran after her.

Charlotte laughed as she heard Luke’s boots thud against the floor and grinned triumphantly as she beat him to their bedroom. Her gloating, however, was cut short as Luke picked her up and deposited her onto the bed without ceremony. He remained at the foot of the bed for a moment, admiring her as she lay giggling beneath him, before he kicked off his own shoes and joined her on the bed.

“You look beautiful,” he complimented, his voice muffled as he pressed a kiss to the exposed skin of her chest. “Stunning,” he continued with another kiss, “breathtaking.” He pressed a line of kisses along her skin and with each one, he gave another compliment. Her fingers tangled in his hair, tugging just enough for him to feel but not enough to hurt, as she squirmed beneath him to find a comfortable position.

“You’re one to talk,” she returned, her voice breathless as his lips found the spot that made her knees weak every time, “fuck, Lu.”

Charlotte felt Luke grin against her skin and tugged at his hair to urge him to return to her lips. She wanted to kiss him, to leave his lips kiss swollen and stained cherry red, and he seemed happy to oblige as he pressed a final kiss to the spot just below her ear before moving to recapture her lips in a searing kiss. As he focused on the kiss, one hand brushing over the lace covering her breasts, Charlotte worked to unbutton Luke’s shirt. She made quick work of it, her hands steady with practice, and shoved the material off his shoulders before sitting up herself to tug off her own top.

The pair of them disrobed in a frenzy, clothes tossed haphazardly and left for the morning, before Luke’s mouth returned to hers and his hand slipped between her thighs. Her nails dug into his shoulders and he nipped at her bottom lip as he worked to prepare her.

After a moment, when he felt her begin to tighten around him and her grip on his shoulder grow painful, Luke pulled away and leaned over to grab a condom from the drawer in the bedside table. He reached into the drawer, his hand searching for the familiar cardboard box but coming up empty. He frowned, pulling away from Charlotte just a little farther, and glanced into the drawer only to be met with a sight that made him swear under his breath. “I knew I was forgetting something this afternoon, fuck,” he groaned. When he met Charlotte’s confused gaze, he sighed and returned his hand to brush over her heated thighs. “We’re out of condoms. Forgot to go buy more,” he explained as he shifted on the bed. “And I do not want to leave this bed right,” he breathed as he took in the sight of her, completely naked and waiting for him. 

Her cherry red lipstick was a mess, her hair mussed, and her chest was heaving and she looked so beautiful, so perfect, that the thought of having to step away from her almost pained him. He knew that it was a bad idea, that even with her on birth control and with them having been exclusive for nearly two years it was still risky, but he couldn’t imagine leaving her. So he leaned in, his lips brushing her neck and his hands brushing her thighs, as he suggested, “I could pull out now, just this once, and go get condoms later.”

“That’s such a bad idea but I genuinely don’t care right now,” Charlotte breathed as she returned her hands to Luke’s hair. “Fuck,” she groaned as Luke’s fingers returned to her center, his thumb brushing her clit as she tried to make a rational decision, “just this once. And please don’t get cum in my hair.”

Luke laughed at Charlotte’s request, his mind flashing to the night he came on her face and accidentally got it in her hair, before he nodded and brushed the dark strands away from her chest. “Got it,” he nodded as he slotted himself between her legs and prepared to sink into her.

how do you draw so good? when i try to draw i just get frustrated that it's bad and so i never draw

I know this sounds super cliche, but practice. But! If you don't know how to practice it's really hard to start, which is super frustrating when that's all everyone says about getting better at art, so here's some tips I've picked up from the internet as well as formal art classes!

If you want to get better at digital art, stop doing a traditional sketch and tracing it from a picture. If you have the means to scan, then it works as a sketch layer, but pictures warp the proportions and that's why your sketch looks so different from the digital. Learning to draw digitally from scratch is like learning to all over again, it takes time to mess around with finding programs you like, stylus vs finger, what brushes you like using, etc. Traditional sketches make good reference images, though, so you don't have to stop completely! It's good to be able to draw on a variety of mediums

(Digital) Use reference images as a base layer but don't trace. Draw with the image on the canvas, turn the opacity down super low, and on a new layer draw next to or even over top of the original image, but draw like you were doing it from scratch, not tracing. If you use someone else's drawing you need to credit it but there are a lot of free refs that specifically say they don't require credit, they're made for artists to use for learning

(Both) Lots of sketch lines. So many. I'll reblog with an example, basically you want to use lines to measure distances and angles

(Traditional) The picture you take will never look as good as the original artwork, but you can make it look better by adjusting the camera angle and reducing shadows. I turn all the lights of, put a flashlight under my phone camera so there's no shadow, and move both the camera and light until there's no shine or shadow

(Digital) Learn to use the blending layers on your art program. They make shadows and highlights so much easier

(Digital) Multiple sketch layers. One for a base, another to adjust, another to readjust, another two for lineart.... It's not just layer one sketch layer two lines layer three colors. It helps me to sketch using different colors, so I'd use blue for the head and purple for the shoulders and red for the arms, etc.

You're not going to want to post everything you make. I'd say I share 25% of what I've drawn. You're not going to want to keep everything you post. There's a level of stepping out of your comfort zone that comes with posting. Social media is stacked against artists, but even though likes/reblogs/shares don't equal quality, it hurts when you work hard on something for it to flop. My current most liked piece of "artwork" is ZELDA HOLY FUCK, which took me literal seconds, whereas the Gate of Time which got less than my average... did not. If followers mean a lot to you, then you have to draw them in with comedy, ship art, and/or popular tags and then hit them with your personal favs. this is why there's so much fanart tagged LU that has nothing to do with it, you pretty much can't be a popular Zelda artist on insta without it and consequently why I refuse to draw the au :/

Also! Time and age do not equal experience level. Technically? I've been drawing since I was ten. There are artists out there who have only been drawing for a year and they make hyper realistic portraits. Some people do better at visualizing 3-D objects on a two 2-D plane, and some people are better at creating 2-D objects from scratch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So I was Thinking about some of the kids the other day haha didn't post this right away bc I don't have character tags yet but I'm working on it. Anyway uh take this for now--

- Avlynn is very safety-conscious because of growing up in Legend's household. She was taught that items with power should be handled with care and treated with respect. My own dad does a lot of firearms repair and we always had them in the house, so it was something I learned from a very young age and it seemed like the kind of thing Legend would teach his daughter. Gotta be careful around those fire rods! Avlynn gets frustrated when people don't handle weapons or magical items properly or flat-out mistreat them. She'll go on tangents about it. Really, she's mostly worried that the offender is going to hurt themselves or someone else and doesn't know how to express it.

- Dante is the baby of the group, at 13 years old. Ironically, he has a pretty good sense of direction and can cook alright. He has a tendency to wander, but almost always manages to find his way back. He also may actually have a bit of a backstory ;) I'm debating giving him the ability to communicate with the dead, if that gives any hints haha. OH also the reasons Hyrule didn't actually, y'know, have a kid are I have absolutely no idea who he would get with aside from his Zeldas--who I know nothing about--and the fact that I personally hc him as aroace.

- Cove has a bit of a backstory as well, though I'm a little torn on what I want it to be. They are adopted, because only like twenty years have passed between LU and this AU and yeah I'm not about to do that. Basically, Cove could have either impressed Tetra after being caught almost robbing her and and invited to join the crew or they could have stowed away and everyone ended up getting attached. Honestly, I'm leaning stowaway, but I'm not totally sure. Either way their situation is definitely more found family, they 100% called Wind "dad" on accident and everyone just rolled with it.

- Adair's first bullet point on his character notes page is "Bold of you to assume he has any idea that it's not okay to just wander off, with Wild and Flora as his parents" so... Yeah lmao. Climbing random stuff makes the seratonin go brrr, mood, and he is "dextrous as SHIT". His cooking skill isn't quite at his dad's level yet, but he's working at it! :) Basically so far he's a little gremlin with a sunny disposition and maybe a bit of a tendency for arson. I'm trying to keep his characterization different from Wild, but they're definitely similar.

- Edmund is the most "princely" out of them, despite almost half of these kids technically being royalty. Being of Hylia's bloodline, he(and the other kids of royal descent) has quite a bit of magical potential. Edmund struggles with controlling his magic, though, which is common for princes in the Hyrulian royal family. He's jealous of Piaras and Corentin for seemingly not having the same issue and has mixed opinions about Adair--they both struggle with their magic, but Adair's just so damn cheery about it! He's lived a fairly sheltered royal life and is rather naive because of it, but he's every bit as prideful as his father.

Bios are gonna come out... At some point! I'm still thinkin' bout character stuff. And don't even get me started on designing all these characters... If you guys have any ideas or things you feel like I could use as a springboard for my own ideas, please don't hesitate to tell me!
