another controversial opinion: it isn't that surprising that they managed to pass as just best friends for so long. Besides the radioshow, which was planned out in advance, joint liveshows, which happened rarely and only lasted for an hour at most, and the stage shows which were heavily scripted, dnp had full control at all times. they've talked about what control freaks they are about editing before and i honestly think that was partially why. We thought we were seeing them as they really were, but even in gaming videos, we were really seeing a carefully crafted narrative.

My controversial opinion might be that I lowkey think we have no idea who they are off screen. Like every youtuber has their customer service persona but I feel like if you were to overhear Dan and Phil talking to each other at the grocery store or something, you’d be shocked

I'm not a drama blog and never was or will be so I tried to avoid alot (and luckily a lot avoided me 😅😅) but I remember there being a lot of people just being mean and using anon just to spread hate to the bigger blogs esp in 2014/15, I know there was some drama with people waiting outside the bbc studios when dnp were doing their radioshow and there was so much backlash, plus bc gender identity and sexuality has grown a lot in these past few years I know a lot of people got hate for the pronouns and sexuality they identified with. Also alot of people "not acting their age" as soon as you were an adult/older teenager it was "weird" to be interacting with the phandom bc its clearly for people 12-15. (And alot of drama with couples in the phandom too, it was like everyone had to know everyone else's business and who from what blog they were dating it was a very weird time) (shdkfk kinda unrelated but I remember telling @instarbuckswithdan all the drama like a year ago and it's weird to be writing about it again, I know a lot went on and I'm actually really happy with the community now, yes there is still discourse but there will be everywhere and the blogs I personally Interact with are such sweet,kind, funny people and I'm really glad I finally got involved) 💛 (idk if I'll answer another ask about this bc I don't think there is much more to say X)

so i've only been in the phandom for a year and i wanted to know if dnp ever said smth akin to "we have plans" before tatinof? i've read all the threads of The Great Drought on idb and am kinda skeptical they'll be able to give the people at home enough content,,, but at the same time dnp should know better now and prepare the vids beforehand. i'm just scared all my crops are gonna be dead by may

yall youngsters don’t even know my dude. back before the gaming channel we got phil videos around every 2 or 3 weeks, and dan’s video once a month if we were LUCKY, we had liveshows and the radioshow on sundays so it sounded like enough, but it wasn’t actually videos. 

then after the gaming channel, there was this expectation of them uploading videos regularly but that was a flop, there was a point before tabinof was announced that they didn’t upload any video anywhere in 3 weeks.

i think the thing here is that they were doing things under the motto of “when i get an idea or the creativity to do something, i will” and that meant that if they were busy with something, then they just neglected everything else. 

they went into tatinof and the USA leg of it under this motto of No Plans, we’ll see Then, and they were like “don’t worry, we’ll do something” as if: we’ll figure it out along the way.

these days, specially since they came back, the realised they DID need a schedule, at least for the gaming channel. actually when they were gone around two month for conventions / holidays, they actually did have pre recorded videos and kept the gaming channel more or less alive which was so impressive to me. 

i trust that they are definitely more professional and have been working hard, so idk how they’ll do it in 5 months, but i trust that they do have plans. i think they mightve schedule a dip somewhere to come back home and record a bunch of videos. 

so i would trust them, maybe not to have an active schedule like they have now, but at least to not dissapear from the internet completely like they did with USA Tatinof, which was ridiculous.
