oh! I forgot to upload her! Another dnd character I created a good while ago. We haven't started playing yet, but I think we will probably sometime in July? I am so happy to have two dnd games again, and I am also working on DMing in September again, too. 👀👀👀 I am not obsessed with this game.
This is Kulshedra, my cavalier fighter! I am so excited to be absolutely useless in caves!!!

the last line of this post got me thinking about dnd-ifying tortall (i know about the tortall rpg but here im thinking specifically about dungeons and dragons 5e)
Kel is certainly a paladin. Aly is a rogue no question. Daine is probably a wildshape druid with some sort of archery feat/outlander background.
Alanna is giving me trouble, though. She's both a fighter and a mage, and very adept at both. I guess in order, her fighting improvement happens before spellcasting improvement. It's feeling very cleric, but that's certainly not the type of character Alanna is. The descriptions of her magic, though, are pretty close to sorcerer, but that doesn't seem right either.
Any ideas?

tell me a story about the halfling cavalier ruby and her dire corgie mount zwie!
"OH GOD, SHE'S BACK!"
"BAIL! BAIL!"
"I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!"
"Onward, Noble Zwei!" Ruby Rose charged headlong towards her foes. Crescent Rose, her trusty gun-lance, spear-headed a Beowolf through the back as Dire Corgi, the twice her size Zwei, bound forward with eager joy in his black, doll-like eyes. He bellowed a mighty yip as Ruby swung round in her saddle to fire at one of the fleeing Grimm.
An entire orphanage ran out to pet the massive dog and to cheer for their hero! Ruby Rose! Ruby Rose! Ruby Rose!
================================================
"RUBY ROSE!"
"AAAGH!" Ruby fell from her stool, her tiny behind hitting the dirty countertop of the bar. Her half-elf partner scowled down at her, though she was also standing on the stool as well. "Weiss, I was almost at the best part!"
"Ruby, there was no orphanage in that town," Weiss explained, "and if there was, it was long empty when the Grimm attacked."
"But it's true, though! I really did stab a Grimm with Crescent Rose!"
"Yes, but you didn't lift it so high in the air that the people of the village made it their new flag!"
"HEY!" Nora, their dwarven friend, slapped her callous hand on the counter. "I thought it was a nice story, so I say let her finish it!"
All the while, Zwei lapped up from the trough, receiving pets and "good boy" by the dozen as patron entered and left the bar. But this was not to last as there was a foul odor on the wind. With a mighty bark, Ruby was outside, quick as a flash.
"What is it, boy?" He barked in a direction, where Ruby could see the unmistakable signs of trouble approaching. Bandits, and a whole lot of them. She gave a whistle, and the rest of the team assembled outside.
"What's the plan, Ruby?" Weiss asked, readying her rapier.
"Same plan as always, Weiss." She untethered Zwei from her pony-sized corgi and sat upon his saddle with a grin. "I mark 'em, we hit 'em."

As a follow up to my recent portrait of Kaiyla I thought I would release the newest character in my roster out into the wild; gallant gentleman hero, half-elf cavalier fighter Merlin Argris!
Some info about Merlin under the cut-
I don't really have a whole lot of backstory info about Merlin yet, but he is a former soldier, and he's a highly exaggerated 'gallant gentleman hero' type, but he's also a massive himbo. He's a terrible womaniser and will flirt with any lady who catches his eye, and while he's very cocky and sure of himself, he's also very stupid. I've only played him for a single oneshot and I already love this idiot to death.

DND doodles of how i imagine 4/6 of my party members characters, i will be asking them how close i got at some point but its a tad embarrassing to show real people my art lmao
Top Left Is a hexblood monk named Saisen
Top Right is an undead cavalier named Dennis
Bottom Left is a family of goblins named Papa Skrup, Baby Skrup, and Mama Skrup
And bottom right red sketch is my tiefling paladin Torment (Torm for short)
The two missing are Bruvit (a dragonborn cleric) and Ugene (a halforc monk/cleric) as i am still pestering my party members for descriptions of what they think they look like so i can do mini comics and animatics of our sessions!

Cavalier (2024) (Homebrew)
This is my own take on Cavalier using the 2024 rules for Fighter. This post will be deleted if this subclass gets updated to 2024 rules. Changes are described at the end.
From: Xanathar's Guide to Everything
The archetypal cavalier excels at mounted combat. Usually born among the nobility and raised at court, a cavalier is equally at home leading a cavalry charge or exchanging repartee at a state dinner. Cavaliers also learn how to guard those in their charge from harm, often serving as the protectors of their superiors and of the weak. Compelled to right wrongs or earn prestige, many of these fighters leave their lives of comfort to embark on glorious adventure.
Level 3 Cavalry Training: You are trained in mounted combat and the responsibilities that come with it.
Custodian. You have proficiency in Animal Handling and one of the following skills of your choice: History, Insight, Performance, or Persuasion.
Rider. You have Advantage on saves made to avoid falling off your mount. If you fall off your mount and descend no more than 10 feet, you can land on your feet if you don’t have the Incapacitated condition.
Saddle Up. Mounting or dismounting a creature costs you only 5 feet of movement, rather than half your speed.
Level 3 Unwavering Mark: You can menace your foes, foiling their attacks and punishing them for harming others.
Taunt. When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can mark the creature until the end of your next turn. This effect ends early if you have the Incapacitated condition, if you die, or if someone else marks the creature. While it is within the reach of your weapon, a creature marked by you has Disadvantage on any attack roll that doesn't target you.
Punish. If a creature marked by you deals damage to anyone other than you, you can make a special melee attack against the marked creature as a Bonus Action on your next turn. You have Advantage on the attack roll, and if it hits it deals extra damage equal to half your fighter level. You can make this special attack a number of times equal to your Strength modifier (a minimum of 1). You regain 1 use whenever you finish a Short Rest and all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Level 7 Warding Maneuver: You learn to fend off strikes directed at you, your mount, or other creatures nearby. If you or a creature you can see within the reach of your weapon is hit by an attack, you can roll 1d8 as a Reaction and add the number rolled to the target's Armor Class until the start of their next turn. If the triggering attack still hits, the target has Resistance against the attack's damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (a minimum of 1). You regain 1 expended use when you finish a Short Rest and all expended uses of it when you finish a Long Rest.
Level 10 Hold the Line: You become a master of locking down your enemies. Creatures provoke an Opportunity Attack from you when they move 5 feet or more while within your reach, and if you hit a creature with an Opportunity Attack, the target's Speed is reduced to 0 until the end of the current turn.
Level 15 Ferocious Charger: You can run down your foes, whether you're mounted or not. If you move at least 10 feet in a straight line right before attacking a creature and you hit it with the attack, that target must  make a Strength saving throw (DC 8 plus your Proficiency Bonus plus your Strength modifier). On a failed save, it has Prone condition You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.
Level 18 Vigilant Defender: You respond to danger with extraordinary vigilance. In combat, you get a special Reaction that you can take once on every creature's turn, except your own. You can use this special Reaction only to make an Opportunity Attack, and you can't use it on the same turn that you take your normal Reaction.
Changes:
Combined Bonus Proficiency and Born to the Saddle into Cavalry Training, which now gives you Animal Handling proficiency and one other skill from the list.
Unwavering Mark remains active for as long as the creature is within the reach of your weapon instead of 5 feet.
The bonus attack of Unwavering Mark and Warding Maneuver now regain 1 use on finishing a Short Rest.
The AC bonus of Warding Maneuver now lasts until the start of the target’s next turn.

Whilst incarcerated, my players picked up their fifth party member, one of our core group members that had been out for two months for various reasons. Another PC in my Wuxia setting.
Sha'ya Tong - Bihu (gecko) Cavalier Fighter. The youngest of the player characters, she has a chip on her shoulder and much to prove. Hailing from the steppes to the north, she set out from her clan at the age of maturity. Idolizes the ancient heroes and wishes to walk in their footsteps.
Though many of the ancestors may keep an interested eye on Tong, one which served as the bulwark of a nation has come down to guide mold Tong in being the shield of the innocent.

Everyone's always dunking on Wizard's, but oh yeah, the Warlock gets their powers from their Patron. Sure hope your Patron doesn't ask you to do risky things because you gave them power.
Sorcerers; oooh look at me, I'm naturally magical and can't read. Can't even change their spells. Though yes casting spells subtly is a big boon, just ugh. These guys think they're hot shit but they're not.
The Wizard; I know every spell, I'm just limited on what I can prepare each long rest.
