How to dress up like a famous cricketer?
Tumblr media
Six! Four! LBW! Clean bowled! Wicket! When we hear these terms, the only game that comes to our mind is 'Cricket'. Cricket has always has been a favourite sport all over the world. It is that one game, which brings together the spirit and love of people from every corner. Every cricketer has millions of fans and there are few fans who diligently follow lifestyles of cricketers. Whether it is on-field or off-field, fans have always showered their love on their beloved cricketer.
One such cricketer that has won millions of hearts is our very own, 'Dwayne John Bravo'. Popularly known as 'DJ Bravo',  this cricketer is not only famous for his game but also for his unique style of dressing. Do you wish to dress up like him? We got it all covered for you. Here are a few tips on how to dress up like a stylish cricketer.
Shop for simple yet elegant outfits
When it comes to clothing style, cricketers always go for something that's simple yet classy. Right from dressing up for a practice match to dressing up for a special occasion, you will always see them wearing a chic and decent attire. You can easily find a few t-shirts for men online, just like the ones worn by celebrities.
Choose the right pair of footwear
Footwears are always in trend amongst the cricketers. You will always spot them wearing trendy and new in market shoe collection. Just like them, you can also select a pair of shoe that's in-trend and that also goes well with your outfit. For a day look, go for sneakers and flipflops and for the night or party look, choose formal shoes or casual sports shoes.
Minimum accessories, maximum style.
If you want to look like your favourite cricketer, you have to say no to accessories. The more the accessories, the lesser the chic factor. And if you can't give up on your love for accessories, then you can use it in a minimal manner. For instance, you can wear a cap for a casual look or a sunglass for a special occasion. And a festive look, you can fo for bracelets. In addition to that, you can style your suits with the brooches that depict your style.
Carry yourself with confidence
Where you can easily get t-shirts for men online there is something that's available offline. A thing that only you can take care of, it's your confidence. If you wear your confidence right, every style would look good on you. Every clothing will eventually make your personality stand out.
Just keep smiling
Your smile enhances your beauty, hence you will always see your favourite cricketers smiling. Don't we all love it when our favourite, DJ Bravo takes down his opponent with a broad smile? Just like him, you can always win hearts, just with your smile.
Follow these aforementioned tips and see yourself shine like your favourite cricketer. While following your favourite star is a good thing, but don’t forget to put on your true-self.

Pourquoi ? me direz vous
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Tumblr media
Broken Back: Quel énergie !
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Conclusion
Tumblr media

AU Thursday: As Long As You Love Me -- I Don’t Care Who You Are
Yes, another installment! I’m sorry, I just had a HUGE burst of inspiration for this particular AU after coming up with it, and there’s a lot of snippets to share! This one comes right after last week’s Bullet Time and is inspired by this clip: How could you possibly not know that? (I’m assuming this bit came after her killing the mechanic, since at the end we’re very clearly getting into the biker gang kill). Alice is obviously rather more worldly than Bart, but there’s still things she doesn’t know. . .
"I'm not going to apologize for killing him."
"I know you're not," Victor said quietly. "And I am glad you saved my life again. It's just. . ." He waved a hand in the air, attempting to find the words. Just the way she'd stalked up to Tannen, utterly sure of herself in a way he'd never been. Just the way she'd stared death in the face and hadn't even blinked, completely confident in the universe's ability to save her. Just the way she'd so methodically beat the man to death, killing as if it was just another day at the office. ". . .a lot to take in."
Silence descended again, even more oppressive than before. Alice grunted in frustration and switched the radio on. "You're listening to K109, where the rock and pop don't stop!" the overly-chipper DJ chirped. "Here for your noonday pleasure, it's the Backstreet Boys, with their hit, 'As Long You Love Me!'"
A cheery, quasi-romantic melody Victor remembered from long car trips to and from his father's various factories and his mother's various parties started up. Without really thinking about it, he began singing along a beat ahead of the lyrics. "Although loneliness has always been a friend of mine, I'm leaving my life in your hands. People say I'm crazy and that I am blind, risking it all in a glance. But how you've got me blinded is still a mystery – I can't get you out of my – head. . . ."
His voice trailed off as he noticed Alice kept taking her eyes off the road to give him curious glances. "Er – something wrong?" he asked, sitting up a little straighter. "I'm sorry, if this is annoying you, I'll stop–"
"No, no," Alice said quickly, snapping her head back toward the windshield. "It's fine, it's just – you know all the words?"
Victor arched an eyebrow. "Er – yes? I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I think this is one of their better songs, and I heard it a lot growing–"
He stopped. Growing up. Suddenly Alice's confusion was a lot more understandable. "You've never heard the Backstreet Boys before, have you?"
Alice wrinkled her brow, then shrugged. "I haven't a clue. My parents generally played classical music and early rock like the Beatles, and Lizzie was more into jazz. And Rutledge was not a good place to indulge one's musical tastes. I probably did hear them once or twice on the radio when I was small, but the experience is lost to the Cemetery of Forgotten Memories or some nonsense like that in Wonderland. I certainly haven't heard them enough to know all the words to one of their songs." She stared at the road, a quiet, sad heaviness about her. "I don't think I know all the words to any song."
Victor was struck by a sudden attack of sympathy. Yes, Alice was a rather terrifying force of murderous nature, but – she was also a young woman, just about his age. A woman who'd had her entire childhood stolen from her by the worst humanity had ever vomited up. It was quite possible that she'd never gotten the chance to sing along to the radio with her parents and sister on a car trip. (Neither had Victor, actually, but at least his mother had never objected to him singing quietly to himself. And he and Mayhew had shared a few fun impromptu karaoke sessions to and from school.) And for all her faults, she'd been nothing but nice to him. Well, apart from threatening to break his fingers for grabbing her arm, but she hadn't actually done that, and he knew better now than to touch her, so. . . . Full of the desire to make things right, he turned up the volume.
Alice glanced at him, slightly puzzled. "Is my conversation that ba–"
Victor shushed her with a finger to his lips, then mimed holding a microphone. "I try to hide it so that no one knows, but I guess it shows, when you look into my eyes," he serenaded her, along with – whatever Boy was singing, he'd never bothered to learn names. "What you did, where you're coming from, I don't caaaaare – as long as you love me baaabaaay."
Alice stared for half a second – then snorted. Victor's face flushed with embarrassment. What the hell was he doing? His musical talents didn't lie in imitating tween pop singers. Nor did they lie in making women like him, honestly. This was just like the time he'd tried aping the muscle-bound football players to ask Barbara Porter to dance at the junior prom and she'd laughed him all the way back to the buffet. Looking away, he reached to turn the volume back down.
Only to feel a hand on his wrist. "No, I didn't – I like it," Alice told him, tone shockingly tender. "Please continue?"
Victor snuck a glance at her. Something about the way she smiled at him, eyes sparkling with what looked like genuine happiness, made him blush all the harder. But he pushed on regardless – anything that made her happy had to strengthen his own chances of staying alive, didn't it? And besides, it was nice to see the non-psychotic smile make more appearances. "I don't care who you are, where you're from, don't care what you did, as long as you love me. Who you are, where you're from, don't care what you did, as long as you love me. Who – who you are, where you're from, as long as you love me. What you did, I don't care – as long as you love me."
Alice gave him a brief round of applause – Victor's first instinct was to check the wheel, but the car didn't drift an inch. The universe again? Maybe it liked the Backstreet Boys. "Bravo," she said, and it didn't sound mocking at all. "Can you do the next one?"
Victor tilted his head as the Boys faded out and the next song faded in. "I'm afraid I don't know this one," he admitted. "I'm like your parents – I like classical music when I'm at home."
"Well, turn it up a bit more and we'll try to learn it together."
Victor obliged. A female voice came on, one that he was reasonably certain was Taylor Swift. "Midnight – you come and pick me up, no headlights," she crooned. Victor began mouthing along, fixing the words in his brain – he could see Alice doing the same. "Long drive – could end in burning flames or paradise. The end of you – oh, it's been a while since I have even heard from you – heard from you. And I should just tell you to leave 'cause I – know exactly where it leads but I – watch us go round and round each time. . ."
Alice tossed her hair right in time with the start of the chorus. "You've got that James Dean daydream look in your eye! And I got that red-lip, classic thing that you like," she (rather poorly) lip-synced, grinning brightly at Victor. He grinned back. Tannen's blood might still be splattered all over the front of her shirt, but the horror of last night felt a million miles away. This was just – nice. "And when we go crashing down, we come back every time – we never go out of style, we never go out of style! You got that long hair, slick back, white T-shirt! And I got that good girl face and a tight little skirt! And when we go crashing down–"
BANG!

The Children’s Media Conference 2017 - In Review
And so, another Children’s Media Conference draws to a close. For the second year running, I produced a session; but for the first time it was something I thought of and put together of my own volition. So The Fall and Rise of British Comics was kinda my baby this year, and I was very chuffed with the result.
Mega thanks, first of all, to my panel: Chris Rose from Beano Studios, Joe Brady from The Phoenix, cartoonist Laura Howell and my good friend and former Travelling Man manager (Travelling Manager?) Haroon Mushtaq. They each were able to give a unique perspective on the industry, and offer enlightening insights into the present and future of British kids’ comics. Marshalling the whole endeavour was journalist (and spiffy DJ) Andrew Harrison, who had a great knack for seizing relevant info and teasing out facts that would be relevant to a CMC audience. So all in all, I was really happy with everyone and I am incredibly grateful to them for agreeing to take part and dealing with my many emails. Hopefully I’ll stay in touch with more than one of them! I also want to take a moment to thank my exec producer, Marion Edwards, who was very good when I was trying to pull the session into shape, and offered some sharp advice. Also, whilst I’m at it, thanks to Greg Childs and the CMC exec for agreeing to the panel in the first place!
So, outside of my own comics-based navel-gazing, what else was going on at CMC? Unfortunately time constraints and dealing with Fall and Rise meant I didn’t see as many sessions as I would have liked. But Look! No Strings!, about puppetry, saw Zippy, George, Dodge, and Spitting Image’s Queen all on-stage at once, a sight that had to be seen to be believed. There were several interesting talks about VR, its implications and applications. There were a couple of cool-sounding panels that I’ll have to catch online about role models and gender, including one about getting more girls into STEM; as the father of two girls, at least one of whom seems to be nurturing an interest in astronomy,  I say “bravo”. There were panels about writing for animation, showrunning, and creating characters – all very useful. The latter of these featured insights from my friend Marc Silk, giving the crowd a crash course in how to talk like Scooby-Doo. The opening keynote – a deep-dive into the future of children’s programming on the BBC by Alice Webb and James Purnell (who, I’d never noticed before – and maybe this was just from where I was sitting – looks rather like Jared Harris playing Moriarty) – was, frankly, a touch dry, but it was nice to have CMC as the venue for this important industry announcement. The creative keynote by Dick and Dom was, unsurprisingly, a lot more fun.
It was a very good conference; better, I think, than last year’s, where I felt I missed loads and didn’t get a chance to speak to many people. In the slightly queasy world of “networking” I think I Met A Lot Of People and hopefully have some opportunities for the future. Two people I enjoyed meeting: a young graduate and huge Transformers fan who complimented me on my Rodimus t-shirt; and Violet Berlin. As a Bad Influence fan in the 90s, I’ve always liked Violet, so the opportunity to chat with her at length was a delight. We bonded over the fact that – this being a very odd world – we’re both in Mr Biffo’s Found Footage. I think she’s actually on-screen, however, whereas I am a disembodied (and disgusted) Sting.
So, yeah – a very good conference all round. I really enjoyed it. My highlight (apart from discussing the politics of children’s television with Ms Berlin) was probably the puppetry session, even though I couldn’t see all of it (I think it was filmed, so I’ll be looking out for the video). Very happy to be a part of it, very proud of my panel, and hopefully I’ll get to go again next year!

T-Shirts & Bands I Saw at Riot Fest 2017 Day 3
9/19/17
Tumblr media
Freak flags fly high and proud at Riot Fest, which definitely should not have come as a surprise to me, but it sort of did. It was my first experience at the festival, which was in Douglas Park for its third year last weekend and Chicago for its twelfth. My friend Magda had won a pair of three day passes and was nice enough to give me her tickets for Sunday.
I arrived around 2:45 and began to survey the crowd, which included hardcore punks, indie scenesters, hip parents, children of hip parents, metalheads, aging emo kids, sportos, motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, dickheads—they all adore Riot Fest apparently. It was quite refreshing to see such an eclectic mix of music fans gathered in one space, and it makes a lot of sense when you take a look at the lineup which has artists like Queens of the Stone Age, Vic Mensa, New Found Glory, Paramore, and FIDLAR. Riot Fest is still largely a punk festival, but it seems to be gradually making room for more variety each year.
Tumblr media
My friend Chandler met up with me shortly after I arrived and we headed to see The Orwells (Elmhurst’s own) play at the Rise stage. Lead singer Mario Cuomo has cut his luscious blonde locks and now sports a buzz cut. His manic energy hasn’t gone anywhere though—he stumbled about the stage with that glazed-over look in his eyes, erratically jerking his body around while mumble-shouting the lyrics to “Who Needs You.” I fear that The Orwells may someday fizzle into obscurity and be largely remembered as a band that built much of their success around a gimmicky torso-thrusting Letterman appearance. They’ve got some great tunes and can put on one hell of a live show. Unfortunately, their Riot Fest set felt a bit lackluster—perhaps the open space and Sunday afternoon time slot didn’t suit the band. A packed, all ages show at a mid-size venue on a Friday night seems more fitting for them and I would wager they agree. Cuomo finished the set by climbing on top of the stage right tent-cover mid-performance. He dangled an arm over one side, sang a few lines, and then disappeared off the back of the tent, leaving the rest of the band to play without him for the remaining five minutes or so. It wasn’t a lousy set—it was fine, really—but that ending was anticlimactic.
There were more people sporting t-shirts with band names on them than at any other festival I’ve been to. Something like forty percent of the crowd must have been wearing band shirts. From classic tees like Black Flag and Jawbreaker (headlining that night) to lesser-known, newer acts like Pinegrove and Twin Peaks—everyone was wearing a fucking t-shirt with a band name on it. There were two dudes walking together wearing the same Tool shirt. I also saw two guys at separate points wearing the same Replacements Tim t-shirt. The Descendants and their Milo character were highly represented, both in shirts and tattoos. People really love that band. Others opted to wear apparel expressing their shocking or aggressive attitudes. “Repent / You fucking savages / Repent” read one shirt. Another being worn by a woman with a warm smile said, “Teach children to worship Satan.” I wonder if she was at the fest in 2015 when Damien Echols and Jason Baldwin participated in the “Riot Fest Speaks” panel. Some wore no shirt. Some wore sloths. I digress.
Tumblr media
After The Orwells, we saw indie rock stalwarts Built to Spill, who were playing their 1995 album Keep It Like A Secret in its entirety. “Riot Fest gets a lot of bands to do this,” some salt-and-peppered bearded dude told me after I mentioned (not to him) that I only know one Built to Spill album, and it’s not this one. “Keep It Like A Secret! This is their seminal album!” he said with an air of disbelief that I found a bit demeaning. I happen to love There’s Nothing Wrong With Love but for whatever reason I haven’t really listened to anything else by them. Anyways, Built To Spill sounded great. I’ll probably start listening to that record, and I assume that guy went on his way to lecture some other poor bastard about various indie bands’ “seminal albums.”
Riot Fest gets an older crowd than festivals like Pitchfork and of course Lollapalooza, which I also found refreshing. Those aging emo kids (they never really become adults in my eyes) were out in droves, presumably for Cap’n Jazz and whatever other bands on Sunday’s bill technically qualify as emo (Say Anything, yeah?). I eavesdropped on a few talking about their love of American Football and Owen, but not so much Modern Baseball and so on and so forth. The world of emo music is one I’m quickly learning is much more expansive than what I know and love, the ready-for-the-masses pop of early-aughts Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Something Corporate, and Cartel. I’m still not sure it’s for me, though the few people I’ve spoken to who fall into this other camp are adamant that theirs is the more legitimate and musically superior. To each his own I guess.
Tumblr media
Moving right along, next up on the agenda was TV on the Radio, also at the Rise stage. They were kind of exceptional and their set was a reminder that there’s really nobody like them in rock music today. Of the twelve songs they played, two were off Dear Science and two were off Return to Cookie Mountain, so their best albums were a bit underrepresented. But the new stuff (well, new-ish) sounded good and provided a much needed early-evening lift.
The last act Chandler and I caught was M.I.A. She was flanked by a support staff that included women in baggy orange jumpsuits and a DJ/hype-man who she referred to as “DJ Tiger.” It was predictably very loud and bass-heavy and high energy. I don’t know M.I.A.’s music or her live show well enough to judge whether this was a good set by her standards. She closed with “Paper Planes” and that was the main draw for me. Much of the show felt like an overblown mixture of Major Lazer and Jock Jams, with M.I.A. sauntering around stage in aviator sunglasses.
Tumblr media
Overall verdict: I like Riot Fest. It’s probably the most mature and alternative Chicago music festival. It has a ferris wheel and for some reason they hand out lanyards and plastic covers for the festival brochure at the entrance. They accept cash and credit cards at the various beverage/concession stands—no need to purchase drink tickets (looking at you Pitchfork). The lineup was interesting and fairly wide ranging. And most importantly, the layout in Douglas Park generally makes sense—no sound bleed to report, not too crowded, well managed fest. Bravo!
