Anasuya Sarabhai, A Trailblazer for Women's Rights in India's Labor Movement with TLA
Anasuya Sarabhai, affectionately known as 'Motaben' or 'elder sister,' has etched her name in the annals of Indian history through her pioneering efforts in championing the women's labor movement.
In 1920, she founded the Ahmedabad Textile Labor Association (Majoor Mahajan Sangh), the oldest union of textile workers in India. Born into the privileged Sarabhai family of Ahmedabad in 1885, Anasuya faced adversity early in life when she lost both her parents at the tender age of nine.
Married off by her uncle at 13, she eventually divorced her husband and returned to her own family. In 1912, Anasuya embarked on a journey to England to pursue further studies, and it was during this time that her life took a momentous turn.
She encountered Fabianists like George Bernard Shaw and Sydney Webb, who advocated for a gradual transition to a socialist society, diverging from the revolutionary doctrines of Marxism. Inspired by their ideas, Anasuya dedicated herself to the cause of social equality.
The following year, she returned to India and started working with marginalized and disempowered communities. Initially, she established a school for underprivileged students of all castes and provided creches and toilets for women.
However, it was a transformative incident that propelled her into the labor movement. Witnessing a group of workers toiling for 36 consecutive hours without respite, Anasuya was horrified by their plight and resolved to bring about change. In 1914, when an epidemic struck Ahmedabad, the condition of mill workers worsened, compelling them to seek Anasuya's help.
She took up their cause, issuing an ultimatum to the mill owners and even challenging her own brother, Ambalal, who presided over the Mill Owners' Association. Her demand for better wages and working conditions proved successful, marking the nascent stages of the trade union movement in India. Anasuya Sarabhai's indomitable spirit and tireless efforts paved the way for improved labor rights and paved the path for future activism.
She became a prominent figure in the struggle for workers' rights, advocating for fair wages, reasonable working hours, and better living conditions. Her determination and courage inspired countless others to join the labor movement and fight for their rights. Throughout her life, Anasuya continued to champion social causes and fight against discrimination and inequality.
She remained actively involved in various social and political organizations, tirelessly working towards the upliftment of women and marginalized communities. Anasuya Sarabhai's legacy continues to resonate today, reminding us of the power of grassroots movements and the importance of fighting for social justice.
Her contributions to the women's labor movement in India laid the foundation for future advancements in workers' rights and paved the way for greater equality in the workplace. Anasuya Sarabhai will always be remembered as a trailblazer, an advocate for change, and a symbol of resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

Why is Divorcing a Foreign National Troublesome?
Divorce is not a simple procedure which could be easily followed by everyone. But when the matter involves divorcing a foreign spouse, the trauma would be twofold. The reasons behind such difficulty have been enunciated below:
People do not know whether an immigration lawyer in Delhi will be able to deal with the matter in India, or in a foreign court.
Also there could be a confusion on whether an immigration lawyer in Ahmedabad is the same as that on a foreign land where the other spouse of the applicant  resides, or where the marriage was solemnised.
If the husband and wife do not live at a common place could  also be a barrier, as among people lack of knowledge of such provisions could be a huge problem.
Divorcing a Foreign National in India
If you are a resident of Mimbai who married a foreign national, in India or abroad, it is advised that you consult with a divorce lawyer in Mumbai to understand the legal provisions involved before filing for a divorce a foreign spouse. Understanding the general rules may not be the best for your case specific facts.
The general rule is that if one of the parties to marriage is an Indian and the other may or may not be a foreign national and the marriage took place in another country, the provisions of Foreign Marriage Act, 1969 applies. As has been provided under section 18 (3) (a) of Foreign Marriage Act, an application for dissolution of marriage shall be allowed in the following scenarios:
Parties to the marriage domiciled in India at the time of filing of the divorce petition.
The petitioner wife was permanently residing in India before marriage, and had been residing in India for the past 3 years immediately before applying for the divorce.
As per the Act, provisions of divorce in a foreign marriage are governed by the Chapter 6 of Special Marriage Act, 1954. Such a divorce petition is allowed only when the petitioner is residing in India.
If the above conditions have been fulfilled, one would have to send legal notice for divorce to the spouse through their lawyers. The divorce process will then be  initiated as per the laws applicable in the court of appropriate jurisdiction.
Points to be considered before Divorcing a Foreign Spouse
When marrying a foreign national, following aspects should be followed so that divorcing a foreign national will not become the worst nightmare of you life:
Prepare for a social marriage ceremony and publicise it on the social media;
Register the marriage in India;
Keep the original or copy of the marriage registration certificate with you;
You should be prepared with all the paperwork necessary for the issuance of VISA;
Must have contact details of Indian embassy in the foreign country qat hand;
Contact details of any local Indian associations;
You should try to be in the network of Indian citizens in foreign;
You should be in contact with friends and family members who are in the foreign country in case of any emergency;
Never agree to forge any official documents, including not falling for any traps like green card or some easy migration schemes;
You should try avoid marrying in a foreign country, or else, at least get your marriage registered in India under the Foreign Marriage Act, 1969;
Never keep your passport and other crucial documents with someone else’s custody including your partner

WHAT IS SECTION 6 OF THE HINDU MARRIAGE ACT AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE ?
The provision of Section 6 of the HIndu Marriage Act, 1955, which provided for the guardianship in marriage, has been omitted FROM the Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Act, 1978, (2 of 1978), w.e.f. 1/10/1978. The previous text stated that-
Wherever the consent of a guardian for a bride under the law was necessary, the persons who could give such consent are as mentioned below-
The father of the bride,
The mother of the bride
The paternal grandfather
The paternal grandmother
The brother by half blood, eldest to be preferred, provided the bride has been brought up by him
The paternal uncle by full blood
The paternal uncle by half blood, provided the bride has been brought up by him
The maternal grandfather
The maternal grandmother
The maternal uncle by blood, provided the bride has been brought up by him
No person could act as a guardian if he/she has not completed his/her twenty first year.
Also, the court can put an injunction over a marriage, in case the court believes that the consent of the bride is necessary.
To deal with any situation related to the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, it is advised to seek the Lawyers In Ahmedabad. For example, in case you have decided to divorce your spouse due to various reasons, it is advised to contact a Divorce Lawyers In Vadodara.

The Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929
The Act was passed on the 28th of September in the year 1929. It fixed the marriageable age for girls at 14 years and 18 years for the boys. Popularly known as the Sharda Act, it was named so after its sponsor Harbilas Sarda. After the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act was passed, the marriageable age for boys and girls was set to be 21 and 18 years respectively.
Objective of the Child Marriage Restraint Act-
Following are some of the objectives of the Child Marriage Restraint Act-
Eradication of the evil of child marriage, for this the Child Marriage Restraint Act was passed in the year 1929.
The objective of the Act is to eliminate the evil or the dangers which may occur in the lives of a female child, who do not have the ability or are not mature enough to withstand the stress and strains of married life and to avoid any early deaths of these minor mothers.
Significance of the Child Marriage Restraint Act-
It was the first step taken up by an organised women’s group in India
This organised group pressurised many politicians into supporting the reform by picketing their delegations, holding placards and shouting slogans.
However the Act remained a dead letter during the British Rule, as the colonial government did nothing to implement the law for various political reasons.
The Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Act, 1978
This Act was amended in 1978 to increase the minimum age for females to 18 years old and 21 years of age for men. Later, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 replaced the above mentioned Act, however the age limit remained the same.
Conclusion
Form above mentioned discussion, it could be understood that the provision of law provided under Section 6 of the HMA has been omitted from the Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Act, 1978. The minimum legal age for marriage has also been increased to 18 and 21 years of age for females and males respectively.
