Alear 1 for the ask meme?
Why do you like or dislike this character?
Ooh, where do I begin? I adore them and I love all the tiny details they put int them. Their character arc feels so satisfying and I absolutely live for their dynamic with Veyle, I love how everything about them feels like it gets a satisfying payoff (even the hair for crying out loud), and overall, they just feel so... genuine. Especially in their interactions with other people.

Mr. Strong. My beloved. I knew you for... like maybe an hour and thirty. But yeah, I agree. He seems like a genuinely nice guy who seems like a great father.
Daemon is funny but utterly stinky man why Rhaenyra?
"an hour and thirty" LMAO he was really gone too soon </3
honestly, i don't know if i can blame rhaenyra for that since we watched him groom her (yikes) and also she is desperately attracted to the freedom he has (that she wants for herself </3)

This piece of media has serious themes!
*me being a Bleach fan for 12 years and only within the last 3 have people realized that Bleach is the story that mostly closely integrates its themes into its power system. So I've been dealing with "Bleach bad" by man-children who finally "get it" with the hindsight of a new anime.* 😔
Hi!
TBF, from the "big 3" I think Bleach is the one who aged the best, new season or not, even if I ultimately think the weekly release rythm from the jump hurt it more than it helped, especially because it was seen as "competing" with Naruto and OP who were/are, I'd say, not on the same sector even if, at the end of the day, they're all shonens.
#dithorba#replies#back then some people were arguing that the fights in bleach were too long or boring#but imo that was the point? It has never been a manga centered on fights#sure sure some people can be upset because we don't see minor characters fighting or various bankais for the gotei 13#but given how kubo designed bankais as an exploration or another side of a character's personality/growth#it'd make sense that only the characters he choose to focus a lot on would have theirs revealed on screen#Bleach stuff#but in the end shonens are shonens#they can tackle some themes but they're always telling a story meant for a young audience#not to say the messages are childish or anything#but when some fans try to pit their shonen against others saying that their favorite shonen is the best because the themes are more mature#or something or shit on other shonens with surface level criticism to pain theirs as better it's honestly tiring#like for bleach i've read people quit it after the quincy reveal because they felt like Ichigo was everything and the most powerful being#but the point of his character has always been to accept what and who he is including all of his various hybrid stuff#and to throw his 'i just want to be regular human' from chapter 1 by the window because he wasn't true to himself#bleach stuff

2 & 13 for the meme?
Thank you so much for the ask!
2. what is your feel-good movie?
It is... Girls und Panzer the Movie. I love the series but nothing, and I mean nothing, can quite match the positive feel-good energy of the movie. It's got so many moments that I go back to, introduced a lot of fun new characters and that end battle, when everyone is working together... ugh, I wanna watch it again already. ; v ;
13. what is your comfort food?
Eggs. Any egg dish really, but scrambled is best!

Might I ask what the Corpul phenomenon is?
THE BRIEF EXPLANATION: we gassed up coirpre so much during cyl7 + looked at his wiki page for so long that we tricked ourselves into believing he’s a major character
THE LONG EXPLANATION:
at the beginning of january 2022 i finally picked up fe4 again after a few months of not playing. my Return to jugdral was marked by being incredibly baffled by coirpre and also hannibal’s fucked up recruitment:
anyway. due to being on the wikipedia too long trying to make sense of them we accidentally got really attached to coirpre as a character and for what he brings to the story. especially with his lene support and that whole deal… and the altena + hannibal support? also fire as hell if you haven’t read that one. some may call it copium or sunk cost fallacy after spending so long trying to evade hannibal and trying to get either of them to not die but i know it for what it is: #LOVE.
this all comes to a head when we check his cyl placements and we are like Fuckkkk. he is never getting into feh. he’s literally in the lowest percentile. his best year was in cyl3 where he got 43 votes. it’s over. BUT then we all collectively decided to coirpaganda for cyl7, which ALSO just so happened to be the ONE YEAR they did that dumbass rising heroes thing where they were like ‘👉 hey look at these guys who ranked up way higher than last year’.
^so like i don’t wanna say we did this but also objectively i think we did. we were forreal trendsetters. and see the fight is not truly over until he’s added into feh but i trust that it will happen this year. intsys will fall to the phenomenon as well it’s only a matter of time and also bribing my mutuals.

5 Tifa Lockhart
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
Okay so I am someone who mostly listens to instrumental music, which means I don't really connect lyrics to characters. So unfortunately for this one I have the very boring answer of...Tifa's Theme. I should say that I'm also someone who has listened to the FFVII soundtrack frequently for a decade now, which means seeing Tifa really does just make Tifa's theme pop into my head. Really. I have silent background music going on in my head probably 80% of the time I'm not listening to actual music.
This is one of my favorite covers of it, to go at least a little bit off the beaten track. Tifa's such a...warm character to me. Comforting. Little bit of sadness mixed into it all because of everything that's happened in her past, but she tries to be a home for others anyway and I love that.
#I should say thank you for the ask!!#this is just. conveniently one of the few questions i struggle answering#i think the only character i really associate a song with (that isn't their character song) is kurama from yyh#because i listened to Cherry Blossom Girl by Air on repeat for hours and hours and hours while reading YYH#ask game#ask meme#dithorba

In regards to Gangrel, and not to get too Paulo Freire, any hatred or violence enacted by the Oppressed against their Oppressors is 100% the fault of the Oppressor. The Oppressor has the power to end this dynamic and all the responsibility to make amends for it. It's rather paternalistic and insulting to ask, demand, or, more often, FORCE the Oppressed to accept their oppression and the terms of how their oppression ends (if it ever does). And the Oppressor often makes the terms to end oppression for their interests first and foremost.
NO SEE THIS IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD AND VALID POINT and one that I don't see discussed in Fire Emblem...at all, honestly. One of my biggest gripes about Awakening has always been how it handles the Ylissean crusade against Plegia. It's made pretty clear in Chapter 5 that Gangrel is acting this way based on historic crimes committed against his nation by his neighbor, and Emmeryn admits that his accusations are valid. In the next chapter Chrom goes a little further in describing things...but pivots almost immediately to framing how the war affected Ylisse, rather than what it did to Plegia (emphasis mine).
…Not everything Gangrel said was a lie. The last exalt, my father, waged war on Plegia for many years. The violence… It was a brutal campaign, ending only with his death 15 years ago. Plegia rightfully remembers their suffering, but his war was no kinder to his own people. As the fighting dragged on, our army became more and more diminished. Farmers who could barely wield a pitchfork were conscripted and sent to their deaths. Soon there was no food at all, and the kingdom began to collapse. I was young, but I remember those dark times.
So immediately the heir to the man who committed atrocities against Plegia is pivoting the conversation to highlight the suffering of the aggressor nation. And, of course, immediately after that Validar attacks Ylisstol Castle and Emmeryn shortly thereafter ends up kidnapped by Gangrel and her martyrdom leads to yet another war with Plegia that they lose.
I completely understand where Gangrel is coming from in his aggression. Do I think that kidnapping and murder is a step too far? Personally yes -- but that doesn't change that he has valid reasons to be angry and to demand accountability from Ylisse. Ylisse is implied to have never accepted responsibility for what happened, and rather than addressing that Gangrel's got a point and that Ylisse needs to re-examine their handling of that whole situation, the game treats Gangrel's actions as unconscionable and the former Exalt's war as a crime against his own people as much as, if not more, than one against Plegia.
I ended up trying to tackle some of this in Affectionately Yours, most notably in Chapter 2 where Robin snaps on Chrom about individual responsibility versus national responsibility: no, Emmeryn's not the one who mounted the crusade, but her country is no less at fault for the attempted genocide just because she's now leading it, so she's responsible for taking action to acknowledge and atone for those crimes. And yes, it is a complicated situation: there's a lot of historic enmity between Ylisse and Plegia, and a lot of fears and suspicions on both sides -- some valid, some not. I don't know if I handled it all well, but I did my best to be fair with it, and to better highlight Plegia's situation where the game didn't.

13) Any classes you would like to see return in future titles?
Malig Knights!
Not neserally for gameplay reasons, but I just adore the concept. I love tomes + I love wyverns, so it's perfect! It kinda came back with Ivy but also not really.
I also think Martial Monks were a neat concept for the early-game staff unit, and would love to see it again!
Beast units are also somthing I really want to return. Especially like Taguel.
Thank you for the ask!

That robot in Venture Bros has the most tragic backstory in the entire series. 4 seasons of build-up from random one-off jokes that on rewatch make you go. "Oh." 😭
YES MY FAVORITE

Not sure if we share it but shooting Pelleas/Elincia with these prompts. Otherwise, a Tellius pairing of your choice. Who is always cold? Who is “more loved” by the in-laws? Who’s more likely to laugh at their own jokes?
(Send me OTP asks)
Never really thought about this ship, but I'm on board now.
Who is always cold?
I think Elincia. Pelleas is from Daein, so I think he'd be used to cold temperatures.
They'd go to Daein and it would be Pelleas wearing his normal clothes, and Elincia wearing layers and layers of fur.
Who is “more loved” by the in-laws?
Pelleas, no question. Sure he might be awkward at first, but he's still a very sweet boy, and it is said that he becomes better at talking with people in his ending, so he'd make a good impression.
Not only that, but I doubt Almedha would like anyone who would end up with her son - because fuck you intsys they can still be family even though they're not actually related - though I think she'd have at least some begrudging respect for Elincia.
Who’s more likely to laugh at their own jokes?
Maybe Pelleas, but it would be more like a panicked laugh if he notices that his joke he was already nervous about making didn't land.
Thanks for asking!

Any thoughts on Altena and Coirpre's relationship? Because admittedly been personally neglectful. I think of them as big sis/mom to Coirpre since she probably has always known him since he was a little.
OMG YES gyeah i think abt them a lot. i feel like with the way that the hannibal + altena convo turns out it feels like both families are very close (altena being relieved that hannibal is an ally, hannibal being introspective about arion and his loyalty and etc), so i think coirpre would feel very familial towards both altena and arion…
ALSO JUST LIKE they could support each other both ways. like after the whole reveal with what happened in the desert and even if it’s not exactly the same i just think that coirpre can understand that feeling of displacement + not really Remembering that past that everyone speaks of (see: coirp lene convo)
