Regressor! Spencer w/ Caregiver! Diego Headcanons

•Complete opposites. Spencer is a very grumpy and sleepy regressor, while Diego is a really happy and energetic caregiver.

•Diego tries his best to make Spencer smile and giggle, but the attempt usually fails. Spencer is not exactly the happiest baby ever.

•Spencer is extremely clingy and needs a ton of attention, which Diego is happy to give him.

•Every time Spencer regresses, Diego is almost always holding him. And unless he wanted to be placed down, Spencer will start screaming and crying the exact second Diego sets him down.

•Diego always feels really bad when Spencer starts crying, so he’ll pick him up immediately after.

•Spencer isn’t a fan of leaving the house, but Diego does occasionally take him out for little nature walks. Spencer’s normally fine with it, as long as he doesn’t have to walk. If he’s being carried the whole time, then he’s completely fine.

•Spencer doesn’t talk very often, though on the rare occasion he does, Diego thinks it’s the cutest thing ever. He sounds almost the exact same, except his voice is softer and quieter and he sometimes messes up with his words.

•Spencer can’t recognize personal space, meaning he will absolutely invade Diego’s personal space whenever. He’ll just lay on him for hours and refuse to move.

•Diego doesn’t mind all that much, except for when the position Spencer’s in, isn’t very comfortable for him. To Spencer, if he himself is comfortable, then he’s not moving for a while.

•Spencer doesn’t wear his glasses when he’s regressed, due to the fact that he doesn’t like them on his face. His vision isn’t very good, so Diego has to help him out a lot.

•Since his vision isn’t good, along with the fact that he regresses really young, one of the things Spencer can’t do is feed himself without making a complete. Diego has to feed him, which doesn’t always go over well.

•If Spencer is in a more grumpier mood than usual, he’ll move his head away or try to slap his food away while whining. It takes a lot of patience, but Diego does end up getting him fed in the end.

•Diego also has to feed him his bottles, even though Spencer can do that himself. He just doesn’t want to and prefers that Diego bottle feeds him since he finds it comforting.

•Spencer loves warm bubble baths and it’s sometimes the only way Diego can actually get him to calm down.

•There have definitely been a couple times where Spencer won’t stop crying after hours of doing so, so Diego will put him in a warm bath with a ton of bubbles and toys.

•It immediately calms Spencer down and puts him in a good mood. He’ll smile and sometimes start giggling when Diego puts him in a bubble bath.

•Diego tries to get Spencer to play with toys at times, since he wants him to have fun, but Spencer doesn’t really like playing all that much.

•When he’s regressed around 0-1, Diego will lay Spencer down on his stomach and on a play mat and put toys in front of him. Though, most of the time, Spencer just starts crying until he’s picked back up.

•However, if Spencer’s around the age of 2-3, he will occasionally play. He likes playing with things like puzzles, so if Diego gives him a puzzle, there’s a really good chance that he’ll start playing with it.

•Spencer gets very jealous if Diego’s talking to someone else and not giving him his full attention, even if it’s just for a moment. He will end up having a tantrum so Diego pays attention to him and not to someone else.

•Spencer likes wearing Diego’s clothes since his clothes are big on him and he finds them comfortable.

This man just went through what was basically a whole divorce arc last episode and they bring him back as A FUCKING DRAGON

Ok I lied, I need to talk about this before doing a post with the whole cast because I'm obsessed, apparently. It may just be me reading too much into it, but I can't help but see how the scene between Marissa and Anastasia foils pretty much in every way the one between Diego and Spencer.

1st: the place. They both take place on a beach, seemingly not too distant from their respective team shelters.

2nd: the moment of the day during which they take place. Marissa and Anastasia talk in the early morning, possibly at dawn since the challenge seems to take a good chunk of the day, indicating the growth of their bond, while Diego and Spencer talk during the sunset, shortly before the elimination, and indicating the fall of their possible relationship.

3rd: how they begin. In both cases one of them (Marissa and Diego) is sitting down and the other (Anastasia and Spencer) is passing nearby, but Anastasia wants to talk with Marissa, while Spencer Is trying to avoid Diego.

4th: the progression. Anastasia goes and sit with Marissa, as if to say she'll stay there with her, while Diego has to get up, otherwise Spencer will leave.

When Marissa begins to talk, Anastasia quickly understands and empathizes with her also giving some encouraging physical contact to keep going, while when Diego starts talking, Spencer tries to justify him by saying he did an honest mistake and closing on himself, not wanting to take the discussion any further.

Then Marissa and Diego start spilling out what they really feel, either about their personal life (Marissa) or about their crush (Diego).

5th: the conclusion. After Marissa finishes talking, Anastasia gives her honest opinion and is the one starting the hand contact, while after Diego made his confession Spencer can't speak up for himself, and Diego is the one trying to reach out.

In the end, Marissa and Anastasia embrace each other, because they were open and honest about it, and they come out stronger together. Instead Spencer can't bring himself to trust Diego, doesn't give him a proper answer and runs away, definitely breaking the bond they were making.

As I've said, maybe I'm reading too much into it, especially considering that Diego and Spencer's writing was just bad before this episode. Like, I get what they wanted to do with them, and I actually really like the potential of the pair. The idea of Diego falling quickly because he's an hopeless romantic with no experience, and Spencer being scared of trusting and falling for someone again after a bad experience is actually pretty cool. I just don't thing they got the right scenes and timing to show what they were going for (Derek literally talks about Diego having a thing in the recap of episode one). The fact that their actually worthwile moments had to be mentioned in Diego's post elimination interview doesn't really help.

But I feel that this specific episode is one of the few instances in which ONC managed the "show don't tell" thing, and the coincidences between these two scenes are quite a few not to point them out.

And I don't think it's a coincidence either the fact that they brought up Ivy's feelings for Zaid in this episode too. I think they wanted to do something like "Ok, we're five episodes in, at what point are the main relationships (for now)?" and I think they did it pretty well.

I just really like episode 5, man. As of now, I've watched all of season 1 and All Stars as they came out, but no other episode has taken me like this one until now, not even the most beloved ones from the fandom.

Regressor! Spencer w/ Caregiver! Diego

Warnings: Diaper wearing/small mentions of usage.

(I did a bit of research on anemia, like the symptoms of it, but if I got anything wrong, please feel free to correct me! The main symptoms I used in the story were nausea, lightheadedness, and weakness.)

Spencer hadn’t been feeling well all day. He felt nauseous and lightheaded, so Diego had told him he should just stay in bed the whole day.

Of course, Spencer was a bit stubborn and insisted that he was fine, but when he was felt too sick to do anything and could barely stand without feeling like he was going to faint, he agreed.

Spencer ended up regressing a little after being in bed, which meant Diego had a very fussy little guy to take care of.

He didn’t mind, and once Spencer had regressed, he immediately got him changed into something more comfortable.

Diego put Spencer into a pair of soft pajamas, as well as a diaper, since Diego didn’t want him to get out of bed a whole bunch. Plus, it was a bit common for Spencer to have accidents when he’d regress, due to how little he goes, so it was better to be safe than sorry.

For the past four hours now, Spencer had just been curled up in bed. He was clinging to his blanket and was almost completely under the covers, except for his head that was just barely sticking out.

He was whimpering and whining constantly, not having much strength to actually cry. He sounded so pitiful, Diego hated hearing him so upset.

The entire time, Diego stayed right there with him, except when going to get him some water. He would go by himself to the kitchen and always made it quick.

He’d usually take Spencer, as he was a really clingy baby, but he was in not condition to be moved around and carried.

He hadn’t moved at all, besides a couple hours ago, when Diego had to carefully flip him on his back so he could change him. But after that, Spencer just curled right back up into the fetal position and went back to being motionless.

Diego gave him medicine earlier, but it didn’t seem to be working. He was hoping Spencer would fall asleep, but he was probably too nauseous to actually be able to. Poor guy was just lying there in misery.

Diego was trying his best to comfort him, without getting too close to him. Spencer did want him next to him, though clearly didn’t want to be cuddled. If he did, he would’ve been clinging to Diego already.

So, instead of cuddling him, Diego ran his fingers through Spencer’s hair. It wasn’t helping him feel better, but Diego did know he liked it, since when he stopped doing it a bit ago, due to thinking that he didn’t like it, Spencer’s whining increased, meaning getting his hair pet was comforting him a little.

Besides for Spencer’s quiet fussing, the bedroom was also completely silent. Diego offered to put the tv on for him, but Spencer wasn’t a fan of the idea.

He needed silence and just watching the tv would work either, since seeing colorful things move on the tv would’ve made him more nauseous.

So, Diego just laid beside Spencer with the only noise he could hear was his very sad, little whines and whimpers.

While Diego played with his hair, Spencer’s fussing began to get a bit louder. Not by much, but Diego noticed the increase of volume.

“What’s the matter, Spence?” Diego questioned as he sat up. “Do you need something?” Spencer only responded with whining, which Diego excepted.

Spencer hadn’t said a single word since regressing. Diego didn’t think he could actually speak, he was too little to.

Diego gently moved Spencer’s hair out of his face, where he saw his face all red and wet with tears.

He quickly noticed that Spencer’s pacifier had fallen out of his mouth, which he figured that was what caused the sudden extra fussiness.

“Is this what made you more upset? Did you drop your paci?” Diego asked while grabbing the soother and holding it up to Spencer’s mouth.

Spencer immediately took his pacifier back, slowly suckling on it as his whimpers quieted down. He then buried his face right into his soft, baby blanket.

“Are you okay on your own for a minute? I want to get you some water, you need to stay hydrated and you haven’t had a bottle in a while.” Diego spoke to him.

In return, Spencer let out a tiny “mm”, so Diego took that as he was fine to be left alone for a minute or two.

“Okay, baby. I will be right back. Promise!” Diego told him, before getting up from the bed and leaving the room.

Diego was quick to fill a bottle up with some cold water. He wanted to get Spencer a snack as well, since he knew that would make him feel better.

Unfortunately, Spencer just didn’t seem to have an appetite, as Diego had tried to feed him earlier, but he kept whining and turning his head. Diego obviously couldn’t force him to eat, so he gave up after a few minutes of Spencer refusing.

When Diego brought the bottle upstairs, he couldn’t hear Spencer’s fussing when he walked into the room. All he heard was silence.

Quietly, Diego walked over to Spencer, trying to see if he had finally fallen asleep. He didn’t want to move his blanket away from his face or anything, since Spencer was a really light sleeper, he didn’t want to wake him if he really was sleeping.

Spencer didn’t seem to be awake, so Diego, very cautiously, got back into bed with him. Though, when he did, he heard another soft “mm” noise from Spencer.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you.” Diego apologized. “Were you asleep?” He asked. Just barely, Spencer shook his head.

“No? Just being quiet?” Again, Spencer let out another tiny hum. Diego chuckled and petted Spencer’s hair a little.

“Are you in the mood for your bottle right now? I got you some cold water, it might help a little.” Spencer answered him by slowly uncovering his face, so he could indeed have some water.

Diego leaned over him a little, then gently removed the pacifier from Spencer’s mouth, replacing it with the bottle.

Diego held the bottle for him, while Spencer slowly drank from it. He was quiet, besides the small suckling noises he was making, and he just stared at Diego’s hand.

After a while of him slowly drinking, Spencer eventually finished up his bottle. He whined a little when it was taken away from him, but immediately calmed down when Diego gave him his pacifier again.

“Are you feeling any better at all? Any worse?” Diego asked him. Spencer shrugged a little, which meant he felt about the same.

“My poor little guy.” Diego frowned as he gently rubbed Spencer’s cheek with his finger. “Is there anything I can do for you? Anything at all?” He questioned.

Spencer shook his head a bit, and went back to burying his face in his blanket. Diego sighed quietly to himself, he really just wanted to help Spencer feel better.

“Alright, amigo. You just want me to lay with you and keep you company?” This time, Spencer nodded a little.

So, Diego laid against the headboard of the bed, and went back to playing with Spencer’s hair a little.

He felt disappointed that there wasn’t much he could do for Spencer, but on the bright side, Spencer did seem to be calmer and wasn’t nearly as fussy.

That had to mean that Diego was helping him in some way or another, and that was definitely better than not helping him at all.

ok u can say all u want about how the show handles romance, tropes and shipping all you want. I myself am not infatuated with all of the romantic subplots we got and do believe that a decent amount of it could've been done better.

but like... When people say the problem is that the relationships tend to be gay (or more specifically MLM)... I. What?

It's one thing to complain about potentially overdone tropes or a lack of diversity and another to complain about gay people existing ... or there being a gay couple every season

Like, u could argue other ships should get more attention? but tbh I don't think that's too much of an issue, personally. (Though I feel like ships like GabEllie or Will x Ashley could've had more)

Like idk, nobodys complaining about Ivy and Zaid being "yet another MLW ship 🙄" besides HuntAlly/S2's HunTess/HunTessAlly (hey also are we gonna talk about how we got robbed off of what was clearly teased to be a poly ship,,), Conriya/Riyalec (sort of), Ashley x Will (though tbf it barely got any screentime so it might not count), and maybe one sided Yul/Grett. Yeah, Riyalec, Conriya and YulGrett didn't work out but they had their respective storylines.

(And even if they wanted to complain Abt "too many wlw ships" they can't cuz. There aren't that many (GabEllie, Lake x that one girl that made a cameo appearence in the Tomjake spinoff, and now recently Anastasia x Marissa)

Idk, u can have ur issues with the way Diencer was handled, or the way any other MLM ship was handled really, but like ... If ur primary issue is that it's gay? That it's two men?
