Hidden Gems in Disneyland: Main Street
I grew up near Disneyland. We would go all the time and still go every time I visit my family. On my last two visits, my sister and I went on a scavenger hunt to find hidden features all over the “The Happiest Place on Earth.”
I grew up near Disneyland. We would go all the time and still go every time I visit my family. On my last two visits, my sister and I went on a scavenger hunt to find hidden features all over the “The Happiest Place on Earth.” Let see what we found on our adventure through Main Street U.S.A. How many of these did you know? Do you know more? Tell us in the comments. Look out for other Disneyland…

My 3-day California vacation (8/30-9/1). This was my first time seeing Disneyland during its Halloween event so I got to see the fireworks (and my aunt got me a holographic Snow White card). But of course, Santa Cruz is the one I have an entire essay’s worth of paragraphs about. We stopped by Pismo Beach on the way and it was already almost 6PM by the time we reached our motel. We went to the comic store and sadly I didn’t see Joe there, but I did still get a Vampires Everywhere! replica, a “Santa Carla” sticker and 2 Atlantis Dollars. After dinner at the food court we finally went to the boardwalk, where I rode the carousel for the first time. The last photo contains everything I got minus the DL bucket hat and the bootleg water game from PB.

The Fantasyland Autopia operated from 1956-99 in various iterations at Disneyland, separate from the Tomorrowland Autopia. Given its location, it had the benefit of some amazing trash cans that featured the popular "Waste Paper Shield" design (late 1950s-1960s). This style featured a large shield design on the front-facing side of the can, anchored by the words “WASTE PAPER” and illustrations portraying a broom and dustpan. The inlet flag advised you to “PUSH” with lettering placed on an illustrated banner. 4 versions of this style existed: Orange/White, Black/White, Gold/White, and seen here, Blue/White. // Disneyland Resort, Disneyland, Fantasyland, Fantasyland Autopia, 1950s [Source: Dave DeCaro of Daveland.
