Anyway, I'm back with more Centaurettes custom dolls from Disney's Fantasia (1940)

This time, we move from blue to pink! I wanted to give her more of an aloof expression, but she ended uo actually kinda dreamy, I guess 👀

Oh well, I love her either way (and the blue one is lowkey crushing on her rn)

I'm obsessed with that segment of the movie, and every creature there is sooo pretty and pastelly and fluffy and UGH THE CUTENESS!!

Asha & Starboy

Since it’s February and Valentine Day is coming, I give you: The Cutest Couple that Never Was!

I know I said in a previous post that Wish (2023) disappointed me, BUT-

The concept had so much potential; the King and Queen being both evil, Asha having powers from the start and of course, STARBOY! I just love that concept of a playful magical being that could also potentially be a cute love interest to Asha, but they can’t be together because he must go back to the sky at the end or something (literal star-crossed lovers). So since Disney didn’t deliver, I did it myself.

Details below:

I sculpted their faces with Fimo and for the bodies, I used a snapstar doll body for Asha and a cheap modified BJD doll for Starboy (he was too tall, so I had to saw the legs shorter and give him monster high hands), I also slightly modified Asha’s design and dress (I wanted it more flowy), and while I did took inspiration from the concept arts for Starboy, I decided to design my own outfit for him, something that resemble more a shiny jester outfit, given he was supposed to be a joyous character (we were robbed, seriously).

fun fact: those wish balls are actually painted bouncing balls.

The grumpy princesses - I mean COMFY. PRINCESSES - cinderella has a mold where the eyes are much too wide to paint her canon accurate, so I'm reusing the head to make my villain Irene. I did a mockup in Ibis Paint, I think it could work.

On a Disney princess kick this week. My customs are in various states of terrifying aka I’m having fun

Mulan is getting a more screen accurate faceup. Cindy’s getting a reroot (hopefully if the hair I ordered is the right color in person)

Moana’s getting her head shrunk to fit in with the others better (she’s a Mattel head and Hasbro body) as well as a new face, and new articulated hands

Snow is the only one remotely presentable, though her hair needs styling. Which should be the easiest thing, but I hate doing doll hair. So.

Regardless, I’m having so much fun with these :) These dolls have been waiting in storage until I gained the motivation to do something with them, so I’m glad I finally picked them back up. I have plans for some more gals, including Merida, Anastasia (don bluth), and Esmeralda (whose parts are laying around somewhere, but I can’t find them lol)

So here's the next addition to my personal signature dolls to celebrate my 10 years of repainting: Vanessa!

This time I tried to somewhat recreate the look I once gave her back in 2015, but using the new Vanessa doll from last year.

The old one found a new home long ago and was the very first one to do so! Due to this milestone Vanessa sure deserved to be part of my personal lineup :)

Adding a lining to the cloak really finished it up nicely and I feel it really ties everything together. The lining also gives it extra weight, making it look extra cosy.

Here's the second 17" Thumbelina, Beetle ball edition! Her dress was an adventure, so many pieces, so many directions, so many pins poking my fingers 😵‍💫 In the end though, I think she's my favourite of the bunch, she's massive, colorful and so so pretty, I'm obsessed ✨

I'm having a bit of a struggle. I want one more layer of color built up on this doll's face, but I dunno. Is it just me, or is she feeling a little dead inside? I dunno if I just need eye shines to add that spark of life, or if she needs more than that. What do you think?

That said, the dress did not go as planned, but I actually like this better than my concept art. Because it covers the legs, I don't have to make shoes, she can still stand on her own if I balance her right, it feels more regal and celebratory, and when I hold her up for photos, my hand is sufficiently covered. And all it took was cutting up a skirt and stitching/gluing it in the right spot!

Doll Repaint W.I.P.s

I'm delving into customizing dolls, which comes with a steep learning curve! It's different to 2D art, but it feels cool to be able to hold my art.

I miss the glamor of old school disney villains. Not to sound like a Boomer but I feel like if disney is to win back it's fans it needs to take its villains seriously again.

Once again, I used Apple Barrel and the smallest nail brush. I drew her eyes angular to highlight the sharpness as seen in the concept art I posted a while ago. For her eyes I used Limenade for the irises and Kelly Green for the rims. For the shadow I used Folkart matte lavender and for the lips I mixed up a bit of cardinal crimson and black. The eyebrows were mixed with Real Brown & King's gold.

I dont have a sponge so I had to use l my fingers and a cotton round to blush her cheeks, using the same red I used for the lips and water.

I tried to make her as smug as the face mold would allow. She's planning something, I just know it

Tiny repaints! Had a few extra R2-D2 doorables figures, so I wanted to make some of my favorite Clone Wars astromechs. Loved the whole Clone Wars arc with the D-squad and QT-KT is a clear favorite. So pink and adorable. But I also wanted to make R4-P17 purely because that’s Obi-Wan’s astromech and Obi-Wan is great.
