A/N: Here lies the final chapter of Between Now and Nether!  I am actually crying as i post this, but that might be the hair dye (bye bye blue hair!).  The journey with this fic as one of my only completed CS MC’s has been a fun one, with some many of you sending me comments of loveliness (and some not so much #sorrynotsorry).  Behold - daddy!killian feels!
I would like to AGAIN thank @kmomof4 for betaing this entire project like a boss - mama K, I love you so much and at points, I have been glad for the ocean between us.  Not that i feared for my life or anything ;)  If any of you want, Krystal has this ability to describe a chapter in a single gif, so go ask her opinion before you read it :)
@hollyethecurious my wonderful friend, fellow January baby and kindred spirit when it comes to angst, whump and generally putting our beloved OTP through the ringer before their HE, I thank you.  If it wasn’t for your muse and my muse sunning it up in far-off lands without us, this would have probably been finished before Christmas, but for all the time i faltered on details and needed a guiding opnion, you were there.  You are my person and i would not hesitate to hide the bodies for you ;)
@resident-of-storybrooke thankyou for letting me watch you read a chapter live over webcam, even if you did tell me to ‘fuck myself’.  I consider that kind of reaction a win win as an author, so yay!  Here’s to fucking myself! *raises drink*  And see, I told you, happy ending ;)
If you have requested a tag and have continued with this story, your name should be below - if it is not I am a terrible person and all i can do is apologise for losing you in the rabble, but know you are no less loved for seeing this through to the end!  I read a post not that long ago, about fandom stats regarding people who read fics vs people who leave kudos and comments according to the target audience of the market at the time.  In advertising, i believe the target is a 2% return in acknowledgment and you guys have made BNAN smash that, which a 4.8% return in views vs kudos!  So, thank you all so much, i love you all!

———————————————————————————————————–
There was a time, when he had felt the warmth leave his body and had been trapped in the Nether, that Killian Jones had feared he might never see the moment Emma Swan had made him the happiest man in the world.  When she had agreed to marry him, none the wiser for his recent week long absence and struggle to get back to her, he was overcome with tears of joy that had burned lines so deep into his face that he thought he might still feel them.
Emma had looked beautiful.  Her dress, tailored by the famous seamstress Belle French, was a marvel, elegant enough to be refined by itself and not take a single glimpse of the bride’s beauty away from the awe inspired crowd.  The gathering was small, with just them, the Nolan’s and some other close family friends, and Killian will never forget the look of surprise on Graham Humbert’s face when he asked him to be his best man.  With a puzzled expression but a smile of pride Graham had accepted, none the wiser why Killian had even asked him.
How could he have not?  If it hadn’t been for him, Killian might never have made it back to his family and for that, he would be forever, albeit secretively, grateful.
“Don’t worry,” Graham laughed, watching Killian pace the hospital hallway.  The thick tread of his work boots squeaked against the polished tiled floor as he paced, his hand brushing some wayward strands of hair from his forehead.
“They said it would be soon,” Killian huffed, feeling himself halt when Graham laid his hand on his shoulder.
“These things take time,” Graham smiled, offering his friend a reassuring nod.
Killian's hands shook as he patted Graham’s with his own, mirroring his small, tight lipped smile with his weaker one.  Graham has been more of a friend than Killian could have ever imagined since the academy days.  Once Emma had taken her maternity leave, the rookie had been assigned to his charge, Graham’s gusto and resilience in the face of the Gold case not going unnoticed by the commissioner.
He trusted him with his life as a colleague, partner and more importantly a friend.  It meant a lot that he was the voice of reason right now as Kilian was slowly wearing a track into the floor of the off white, fluorescently lit corridor.  It had been his makeshift home for the last six hours, the steady buzz of overhead lighting and the mechanical beep of machines his only company when after thirty six hours of active labor, Emma had passed out and been rushed to surgery.
“It won’t be long, I promise,” Graham offered again.  Killian let his weight fall back against the wall, the paintwork scuffed across the white at waist height from the inevitable collision with hospital equipment.
“It’s been over three hours since our last update,” Killian barked angrily.
“She’s strong,” Graham said firmly, his own voice quivering a little in his throat.
“She’s the strongest person we know,” Killian mumbled sadly, sliding down the wall until he was crumbled on the floor, head hanging between his knees.  Killian felt Graham’s hand on the back of his head but he did not look up.
“Mr. Jones?”  A small voice called from the nearby room he had recently been evicted from.  The woman was small and much older than him and he instantly recognised her as Emma’s midwife.
“Emma?” He scrambled to his feet, clawing at Graham’s arms as he pulled his friend up to his feet.
“Emma is fine,” The midwife smiled sweetly, stepping from the room and closing the door softly behind her.  Killian brushed his palms over his rumpled shirt, the clamminess seemingly stuck to his skin with the rush of adrenaline hearing the words had caused.  Emma, his Emma, was fine.
“And the baby?” Graham interjected from behind Killian who gulped hard, looking between the two of them and finally resting his expectant gaze on the midwife.  She paused, an eternal beat of time that Killian wished he could have sped up just like in the Om.
“A beautiful baby girl,” she grinned widely.  “Healthy and perfect in every way.”
Killian almost jumped into Graham’s arms when the man spun him around and pulled him into a crushing hug.  Hours of fatigue finally caught up with him and his defenses crumbled, the hot sting of tears pricking at the corner of Killian’s eyes and blurring his vision.  He buried his face into Graham’s shoulder, soaking his shirt with tears as two manly thumps of congratulations echoed through his back and chest.
“I told you,” Graham smirked with relief.  Killian pulled away from him and looked at his feet whilst he wiped at his tears, running his hand down his face and letting his stubble, that was edging on a full beard, absorb the salty droplets.
“Strongest person we know,” Killian smiled exuberantly and shook the hand Graham offered him.
Graham raised an eyebrow, his lips twitching sideways into a smirk.  “You haven’t met your daughter yet,” he reminded Killian.
As if a sudden realisation had hit him, Killian turned back to the midwife, his heart pounding in his chest and his face turning white.  He had known about his daughter for far longer than anyone else, but now he was suddenly terrified of the very notion of seeing her for the first time.  Since the wedding, which had happened so quickly after his return from the Nether, Killian had devoted so much of his time to make sure that Emma and the baby had everything they could ever need.  Emma was constantly telling him to stop fussing, but Killian had not, insisting on the very best for them.
Before Emma was too pregnant, they had decorated the nursery.  A splash of blue colour on the wall opposite the window turned purple in the sunlight as it spilled through the sheer, pink drapes they had hung.  The dark wood of the furniture contrasted with the plush, white carpet and was accented perfectly with the soft, pink linen that was tucked into the crib.  They had decided that since she would most likely be their little princess, that she should be treated like one, so Mary Margaret, who as it turned out was a great artist, had painted a fairytale castle and part of an enchanted forest on one of the walls.  David had insisted on as many Disney toys as possible, filling the nursery with a huge Dumbo plush, a smaller Sven (because she WOULD like Frozen) and a tiny mini set of plushies from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
“Would you like to meet her?”  The midwife again shook Killian from his reverie and Graham nudged him in the back.  “And I know Emma would love to see you.”
Killian nodded and when the midwife pushed the door open, he stepped through it almost silently.  There was a soft yellow glow of light over Emma’s bed and she was sitting up with her arms crossed over her chest, the blankets tucked around her legs and a smile on her face.  She looked exhausted, her alabaster face a stark contrast to the pink of her cheeks and the green of her eyes as she gazed upon their daughter in her arms.
“Hey, love,” Killian whispered as he stepped closer and his hand crept up to scratch behind his ear.
Emma looked up at him with the love only a parent can hold for their child plastered on her face, lighting up her eyes to an even more vibrant shade of emerald than before.  She couldn’t hold back the tears as they fell, rolling over the apple of her cheeks silently and falling from her chin to the blanket below as she held out her hand for him.
They had no need for words as Killian gripped her fingers in his, letting her pull him towards her and immediately planting his lips to her brow.  His other hand smoothed over the back of her head, holding it to his lips as he inhaled the medical scent of hospital from her hair and fought with the shake of his lips against her skin.
“I thought I’d lost you,” Killian sobbed, his emotional state already well and truly compromised before he had even laid eyes of his daughter.  “Both of you.”  Emma nudged her head harder against his face, loving the way his fingers tickled behind her ear and his lips ghosted over her temple.
“No chance,” Emma laughed, her voice watery in the back of her throat.  She looked down at the tiny bundle in her arms and smiled harder.  “We are not going anywhere.”  Emma pulled her hand from Killian’s so that she could touch the tiny fingers of their daughter, the skin to skin contact something she had found so addictive already she thought she might never let her go.
“Oh, Emma, she’s so beautiful,” Killian grinned but was instantly taken by surprise when the boom of his voice made the tiny tot twitch in Emma’s arms.  “She has your nose,” he whispered softly, cupping the pink baby bonnet covered head of his daughter in his gigantic palm.
“She has your ears,” Emma purred sweetly, tracing the outline of the baby’s elvish ears with the tip of her finger.  The little girl scrunched up her face and balled her fist, grabbing the edge of the hospital issue blanket she was wrapped in before letting out a small, content sigh.
“Sorry about that, poppet,” Killian murmured at his daughter as he leaned over and pressed his lips to her forehead.  She was so small Killian thought he might break her, his hands shaking as he brushed his lips over her soft, warm scalp.  “Daddy’s sorry.”
Emma caught his attention as he pulled away from the babe, clutching the side of his scruffy cheek and pulling his face to her mouth.  She pressed her lips to his cheek, tiny prickles of stubble poking her lips and making them itch across her smile as she hummed against Killian’s face.  “I like the sound of that.”
“Daddy?” Killian raised an eyebrow at her.
“It suits you,” Emma smiled at him, scooting sideways on the bed and inviting him to perch beside her with a pat on the starchy hospital blanket.
“Now it does, but what am I going to do when she is sixteen and hates me?  I’m sure she will have a more colourful moniker for me then,” Killian laughed nervously, gazing back at his sleeping daughter.  “She’s so perfect like this.  Can’t she just stay this small and call me Daddy forever?”  Killian reached out and touched the softness of the baby’s cheek, feeling his worries fade away when the side of her mouth curved up into a reflexive smile.
“I think she’ll always call you Daddy,” Emma told him softly, watching their daughter yawn in her arms.
“And what do we call this little mite?” Killian cooed at the baby.  “We should give you a name, shouldn’t we?”
Emma pulled the baby closer to her chest when she started to wriggle in her arms, feeling the warmth of the tot through the material of the blanket she was wrapped in.  “Something meaningful,” Emma beamed proudly.  “Something that speaks volumes about who she is and what she means to us.”
Killian lifted his leg and finally perched on the edge of the bed, wrapping a big, strong arm around both Emma and the baby.  His fingers traced lazy circles under the sleeve of Emma’s gown and goose bumps sprang up from her skin, begging for more of his touch.  Emma was right, and she didn’t even know it.  Killian was the only one with memories of his time in the Nether, even though things had adjusted somewhat in their favour since his return.  Leroy was in prison and the threat from Gold was non-existent now that he was on his way to a supermax somewhere in the deserts of New Mexico.
The whole time he was away, Killian knew there was only one thing he knew, he needed to have, more than anything.  One thing that he needed to make sure Emma felt, and continued to feel so that he could return home to them both.  Without it, they would have drifted apart, Killian stuck without his family, and Emma in a forever state of sorrow.  Hope is what kept them strong and what held them together.
“Hope,” Killian whispered lovingly, resting the side of his head of Emma’s.  “Hope Jones.”
The second they were home with their brand new bundle of joy, Emma and Killian were invaded by the Nolans.  David and Mary Margaret had children of their own, but it seemed that when somebody else had one, Mary Margaret was set into an instant state of brooding that gave David a worried look on his face.  Killian couldn’t help but chuckle as David had held Hope in his arms, the smile of pride quickly turning into one of panic the second Mary Margaret had mentioned another.
Emma was feeling a little better.  Sore, but better.  She had spent an extra week inside of the hospital because of some slight complications following her surgery, but the doctors were now confident she would be okay at home.  It probably had something to do with the incessant way Killian fussed over her whilst she was in the ward, but he didn’t care if they thought he was overbearing in the slightest.  If they had any idea what he had gone through to get back to them both, they might have understood.
Even Captain Lucas had visited them both, bringing with her a little stuffed wolf cub toy for Hope and a fruit basket from the entire precinct for Emma.  There was something about work that always lit up Emma’s face, and she was excited to see all of her colleagues, especially Graham who she had wanted to thank for being there with Killian at the hospital for so long.  Things had returned to how they used to be, all three of them spending more time together socially and getting on without the animosity there once was.  Killian felt like Emma had her old friend back, he had made a new one with someone he had no idea had so much in common with himself, and he was an invaluable crutch during the end of Emma’s pregnancy.
As he waved goodbye to another set of visitors and pushed the front door closed with a soft click, Killian breathed a hefty sigh.  If having a child wasn’t tiring enough, constantly catering to the whim of guest after guest would be the end of him.  Or so he thought, until he ascended the stairs on muffled footsteps, entered the nursery and saw the love of his life gently swaying with his daughter in her arms.
“Alright, love?” He called softly as he entered the recently decorated room.  The faintest smell of paint lingered in the air, but it would soon fade and be replaced by the sweetness of baby products.  “You look tired.”
“I’m exhausted,” Emma laughed a little, offering him Hope as a tiny, swaddled bundle of fleshy softness.  The tot was wrapped tightly in the hospital blankets she came home in (Mary Margaret had sworn by its swaddling ability) with a pink cotton cap covering her delicate head.  She was soundly asleep and didn’t even move as they transferred her between them.
“I still cannot believe we have a child,” Killian smiled, looking down at Hope in awe.
“She’s amazing, isn’t she?” Emma fawned, watching her husband gently rock the baby in his powerful arms.  Sliding her phone out of her back pocket, Emma swiped the camera open and let the lens focus on the scene before her.  It was magical and maybe it was the hormones, but her eyes welled up with fat tears of pride as Emma clicked the button on the side of her phone, and the shutter sound signaled she had taken a photograph.
“She’s perfect,” Killian said softly, looking away from the babe for a second when Emma prompted him for a photo.  “Our little poppet.”
Having a baby was nothing like Killian had imagined.  The books could only prepare you for so much, and they most certainly did not take stock of the number of time you would wake up each night and deprived of sleep, inadvertently stick your finger into the side of a soiled diaper, or how utterly removed from society you would feel.  If Killian was honest with himself, having a baby was very similar to being in the Om;  Time moved so quickly it was gone before you even realised you had it to spare, and there was a constant urgency associated with being apart from Hope for too long.
Killian felt like he needed to be close to her at all times, not miss a single second, and sometimes even that was not enough.  He wanted to watch her breathe, focus his entire energy on making sure that the tiny thumping of her heartbeat was normal and just as perfect as he had imagined.  Which was why, at three-thirty in the morning every night since she had come home, he had crept into her nursery in anticipation of the inevitable wails that followed, just so he could hold her and let Emma sleep uninterrupted.
“There, there, poppet,” Killian cooed almost silently.  He padded into the nursery barefoot, his pajama pants hanging low on his hips and his bare chest that was covered in a layer of almost black hairs on full display.  He kept the lights off except for a nearby plug in bulb that emitted a soft, pink hued glow around the nursery that was never too bright but just enough to chase away the shadows.
Reaching the dark wood of the crib that he and  David had painstakingly erected mere weeks before Hope’s arrival, Killian leaned over to rest his flattened palm to his daughter's chest.  The tiny beat of her super fast heart pounded against his fingertips and as if by magic, she ceased her fussing and sighed heavily, the screwed up expression she always wore before crying disappearing instantly.  Killian let his hand rest there for a full minute, just taking in the tiny creation before him.
Emma had been right.  Hope had his ears, a smaller, pinker variation, but still undoubtedly curved at the bottom and tapering into an Elfish point.  Along the outside of the shell was a fine dusting of black hair, something that the midwife had assured them she would grow out of, but Killian found endearing and unable to resist, often stroking them softly as she slept or nursed.
Hope’s hair was as black as night against the paleness of her skin, her tiny transparent eyelids hiding the ocean blue-green eyes that were the perfect mixture of both of her parents.  They had been told they might change, but Killian felt confident that even with his dark hair, Hope had inherited everything else about her mother and her eyes would be just as beautiful as Emma’s and retain their emerald glow.  She had a flush to her chubby cheeks, another of Emma’s traits, and a button nose that squeaked and snuffled with her quickened breathing.  Even in the faint, cherise colouring that cast itself all around her, Hope was a vision of light, everything Killian had imagined she would be and more.  She was perfect.
Killian leaned over the crib and scooped his hand under her soft skull, letting her head flop back into his palm like a warm pillow.  At first, he had been worried about holding her, scared that he would somehow injure her with his strength, but he was starting to realise that babies were more robust than he had imagined and with his second hand under her diaper clad behind, Killian lifted her from the crib.
With a tiny whimper, Hope shifted in his hands.  Just like her mother, she hated to be disturbed a moment sooner than she needed to be, and it made Killian smile at the thought.  “Come now, my little poppet,” Killian soothed gently, holding her against his chest and slowly swaying a little from side to side.  “There’s no need for that now.”  Hope stiffened only slightly as Killian moved to a nearby rocking chair that faced out of the window, the square, padded cushion on the seat pink to match the rest of Hope’s room.
When he sat down, lowering himself so slowly the muscles in his legs tensed to hold him up, Hope relaxed against his chest, her face turned sideways with the steady beat of his heart under her ear like the rhythmic beat of a lullaby.  Killian folded his arm over his chest, pining Hope’s tiny legs to his chest and supported her back with his other hand.  Hope settled instantly, pinching a bunch of his chest hair in her fingers.
“That’s better isn’t it, my love,” Killian whispered.  “Daddy’s got you.”
Hope let out a tiny wail, the sound catching in the back of her throat as she shifted her face against the coarse hair on Killian’s chest.  Killian began to hum a lullaby his mother used to sing to him when he was a young boy, the words long forgotten but the melody as clear as day in his mind.  He remembered it was an old sea shanty that his grandfather used to sing to her, the calming tune like the song of a siren to children.  With a squeak Hope relaxed again, Killian’s hand moving slowly over the curve of her back and his chest vibrating with a low hum that seemed to calm her agitation.  She would be due a feeding  soon, but until absolutely necessary, Killian would leave Emma as long as he could.
“I know you will not remember this,” he began, inhaling the sweet scent of her in his arms.  She smelled of baby powder and soap and Killian knew that once she aged a little he would miss it instantly.  “But Daddy fought very hard to come home to you.”  Hope let out another small squeal, her tongue clicking the roof of her mouth as she tried to suck an invisible teat.  “Yes, I did,” Killian cooed as if he was answering a question she had posed and before he knew it a single tiny tear of happiness had rolled from his eyelid.  “You made it so that your mother and I could talk between planes of existence, and even though you will never know what that means, you will always be the thing that gave me the tenacity to fight my way home.”
The tot wailed louder in Killian’s arms and he clutched her to his chest as he stood to his feet.  “You are my light, poppet.  You guided me through the darkness and back to the two people that I love most in this world.”  Killian padded silently out of the room and down the hall towards their bedroom.  Pausing outside of the door, he shifted Hope in his arms until she was laying on her back in the crook of his elbow, her legs instinctively lifting towards her chest and her arms stiffening, outstretched for the comforting curve of her mother’s breasts that meant food.
Killian wouldn’t mind the crying.  He wouldn’t mind the sleepless nights and he wouldn’t mind the inevitable troubled teens that were sure to follow with a child who was the product of two parents who would fight, with everything they had, for what they loved and believed in.  With a final, loving smile, Killian leaned forward and pressed his lips to Hope’s forehead. “You will never realise why I love you so dearly but it is because you gave me something, in name and in spirit, that kept me going.  You gave me hope.”

Bucky Barnes x Plus size reader Fingerpainting
Word Count: 2K+
Warnings: Cursing(as usaual, ya’ll know I gots a potty mouth from hell) and teetH ROTTING COTTON CANDY FLAVORED FLUFF. Daddy! Bucky has my whole heart.
Growing up, your household had been vibrant, drenched in color, music filling every nook and cranny. Your mother had been something of a free spirit; You’d been raised on Fleetwood Mac and Jimmi Hendrix, on dancing in circles and bubbling laughter. Now, as an adult you cherished those memories, they we’re such a big part of who you are. And as a mother yourself, you made sure the tradition had continued on.
Made sure your children grew up with that same magical wonder that you had.
It’s what Bucky had noticed about you first, that sparkle in your (y/c) eyes, the curiosity and mischievousness. Cat like, as he liked to refer to them. You we’re his little cat; playful and full of life. And yeah, you had a vicious set of claws, but mostly you liked to be stroked. Both figuratively and literally.
You had this way about you, one that was like sunshine. That bubbly laughter of your contagious, your dimpled smile blinding.
Falling completely fucking in love with you had been easy, natural. He instinctively sought your light and you were more then willing to share it with him, give it to him. Light him up from the inside in a way that made him get a little awestruck because he’d never thought that he’d ever find something like you. He’d accepted the frigidness that had consumed him and here you came, like an Indian summer. All plump curves and saccharine words and butterfly kisses.
And he assumed that it couldn’t get any better; to have a woman that truly deeply loved him. Despite everything… well, what could top that?
And then you’d gotten pregnant and proceeded to set his universe into technicolor chaos once more. He hadn’t even realized he could still have children, that that was still an option for him.
You gifted him with something he hadn’t even realize he’d been craving; his first child. A daughter.
Faye Rebecca Barnes.
Who had your eyes, same spark and everything. But his pretty little up turned nose and his thick, dark hair. She was a tiny hummingbird of a girl, as soon as she could walk she was off in all directions; and he followed close behind, like he always would. Where there was Faye’s chiming laughter, Bucky was close by. The bond that those two had…was something that you couldn’t even fathom sometimes. It was beautiful, to watch them. To know that you had helped to create something so pure.
…Two somethings so pure. Your stomach had never been flat; had always been plush and jiggly, but at the moment it strained out round and firmly, stretching your skin taught. Like some had stuck a basketball under your shirt.
They say pregnancy the second time around is easier. Fucking hah, who ever said that didn’t have a three year old darting around. But still- you tried to stay positive. Tried to focus more on the beautiful parts of pregnancy…even though the ugly, irritating ones came in spades. Oh, how you desperately fucking missed not having to pee every ten minutes.
Baby Barnes number two had made it a game to tap dance on your bladder.
It’s a stormy Wednesday afternoon, nothing particularly exciting or special going on: you’re sitting on the living room floor because its the only place you can seem o get comfortable with Faye, the large glass coffee table in front of you littered with oil pastes and colored pencils. Discarded papers blotches with swirls of color dispersed all over as the two of you drew idly. Bucky was laying on the couch behind you, the one that you lean against, reading the newspaper as Dumbo played on the flat screen in the background.
“Mommy what’s your favorite animal?” Faye inquires, not looking up from her paper and the long erratic strokes she’s making with a teal colored pencil. She was only three, and she’d seemed to inherit your “artistic nature” as Buck liked to call it.
“Seahorses…Or maybe flamingos. I cant decide” You scrunch your nose, focused on your own art. Sunsets and constellations stare back at you, you use your thumb to blend the smooth pastel colors into one hypnotic shade. “What’s yours, Honeybee?”
“Mermaids” Faye shrugs as though its obvious “I like pink elephants too”
From behind the newspaper, Bucky has a large grin on his face. Shaking his head a little at the two of you.
“Is that why we’ve been watching Dumbo on repeat?” He wonders, his gruff voice amused as he reads an article on ‘Stark Industries new Holliday Season Technology.’
“It’s my favorite” Faye nods. Favorite of the week, that is. Last week had been the Aristocats, the week before that Moana.
Bucky could literally sing “Your Welcome” from start to finish. Faye insisted her father be Maui for the upcoming Halloween because he had “pretty hair” just like him. You’d laughed HARD at that, but whispered to him that you wouldn’t mind seeing him only in a grass skirt, your tone had him grabbing at your plump ass.
“Really? It used to scare me a little bit. Especially the pink elephants on parade part. Super trippy if you ask me” You laugh, looking up from your page at your daughter. Her dark hair was pulled up into a messy knot on the top of her head,
“I like 'em. I think they pretty” The three year old defends.
“It does make my head spin a little. I remember reading somethin’ about Walt Disney being all hopped up on dr-” Bucky stops himself, shooting Faye a look “-…Sugar, when he made a lot of these movies”
You laugh. It’s uncanny how similar it sounds to your daughters.
Bucky thinks that’s part of a reason the little girl has such a tight hold on his heart. Obviously, she was his child, and he would love her regardless of what she looked like. But the fact that she was a mini version of you was really what got him.
Faye laughed like sunshine too.
“Yeah I’ve heard that too! And it makes so much sense, this was a trip gone bad…or good I guess. Since you know, its a classic” You add.
“A trip to where, mommy?”
You snort and Bucky puts the paper down a little bit so that he can not only see your reaction, but your response. One of his eyebrows raise.
“Umm, to a place where only adults go. We’ll talk about it when your in college?” You test the waters. Even after years, this whole parenting thing was still touch and go to you.
You didn’t think you’d ever fully have it down.
Bucky’s little chortle from behind you makes you turn around and shoot him a glare to which his hand, the metal one, comes down and rubs your shoulder in apology; his cool fingers massaging the muscle near your neck in a way that had you leaning into him.
You still love the feeling of his hands on your skin, still makes goosebumps rise. You hope you never loose this feeing.
Faye, as usual, looses interest with what she’s doing before her movies even over.
“I’m bored” She whines dropping her pencil “I wanna go swing”
“No, Faye. It’s raining and you’ll not only get all muddy, but you’ll get sick” You try to explain to her the reason why your such a kill joy. Of course she doesn’t seem to hear any of it.
“Daddy?”
You breathe through your nose. Of course.
Bucky was what people call “the good parent”. What you said no to, she’d usually be able to convince her father into letting her do.
She really was manipulative for a three year old.
“Where do you think she gets that from?” Nat had taunted once, looking at you with laughing eyes and you’d shoved her shoulder.
“No baby, you’re moms right. You’ll get really sick and then you wont get to go play at Uncle Steves this weekend. And you’ve been so excited to see Noah” Bucky sides with you, trying to convince her with the promise of seeing her god brother, Steve and Sharon’s one year old son.
Faye huffs and pushes her paper away from her so hard that it, along with a few pastels, flies off the table. She then lets her head fall to the glass with a hard thunk, one that made Bucky wince.
“I’m so bored” She cries dramatically. You know how people talk about the terrible two’s? Yeah you we’re starting to think the troublesome threes were worse.
“Do you want to watch a different movie?”
“No”
“You could come help mama make lunch? Chicken fingers, you favorite?”
“No”
“We could go find Kit? I think she’s scared of the thunder, she’s probably under your bed-” Bucky offers, he knows how much Faye loves that cat.
“NO DADDY” Faye interrupts him with a snap.
“Faye Rebecca Barnes, you do not talk to any adults that way, much less your dad. You probably hurt his feelings” Your tone is not cutting, but authoritive . She knows better then that. She doesn’t look up but you hear her sniffle as she turns her head, facing away from you.
You purse your lips, before leaning your own head back, enough that it rests on Buckys thigh. Your eyes closed. Did you hate making her cry(even if you knew she was just faking?) Yes. But you also wanted to make sure she grew up to be a decent member of society that other people could stand. And that meant teaching her that she couldn’t snap to get her way.
Bucky knew that too…he also knew you had way more resolve then him. So instead of making it worse, he kept his mouth closed and let you handle it. Smart man, your husband.
…as the minutes ticked by, the silence a little overwhelming you realized that you too, were bored.
Making you empathize with your little one. Boredom, the death of creativity. It had always made you antsy, being idle. You feel Buck’s hand in your hair, the metal one, and you get a passing idea.
Remembering a time when your mother had let you and your siblings finger paint on her back…
“Hey, Faye” You call to her, and she mutters a small “What” without looking at you. She could pout with the best of them.
Something she’d inherited from both of you.
“Wanna do something fun?” Your voice is eager and it makes both Faye and Bucky give you almost identical looks.
“Like what?”
You just grin and manage to heft yourself off of the floor(with Bucky’s arm steadying you) and waddle out of the living room, towards your art closet.
“Where’s she goin?” Faye questions her father and he shrugs but sits up, anticipating your next move.
“I don’t know, but knowin’ your mother- it’ll be something messy” Bucky guesses as he looks down at Faye, taking a minute to bop her on her little bun. She beams up at him, grabbing at her hair.
“Hey!”
“Sorry pumpkin” He chuckles, before bopping her again. He’s ready for her when she launches herself into his lap.
“I’m sorry I hurt your feelings” Faye whispers against his scruffy cheek as he holds her.
“It’s okay” Bucky scratches her back lightly “I’m a big boy, I got over it”
“Okay, lets do this” You announce as you come back in the room and both of their heads turn to meet you. In your arms, resting on your stomach, is your plastic container full of washable paints and glitters. Body paint…
“Told you. Messy” Bucky tells Faye who squeals and makes grabby hands at you.
An hour later, you’ve managed to lay the news paper that Buck was reading out on the floor. Protecting your rugs from the splashes of paint. The three of you sit on the hardwood, Bucky has stripped off the hoodie he was wearing and now sits in just his white singlet, holding his metal arm steady and still as you Faye paint on the surface of it. Both of your fingers covered in multicolor paint as they swirl colors onto the sleek metal.
Faye draws purple clouds and orange seahorses(or at least she tries) and you work on an intricate, realistic looking array of wild flowers with a detailed sunflower in the middle of them.
He squirms a little as your fingers trace the edge where his steel shoulder meets warm flesh.
“Don’t move, daddy!” Faye barks at him and you giggle.
“Yeah, daddy” You stress the word, biting your lip and shooting him a devious little smirk that your daughter misses “Don’t move”
“It tickles!” He protests with an exasperated laugh, but stays still all the same. He cant tear his eyes off of you, so concentrated. Little specks of yellow paint smeared on your soft cheek, your belly swollen with his second baby. He reaches out with his flesh hand to rub at the bump tenderly.
You’d given him everything.
“I love you, sweets” He whispers, watching your short fingers delicately trace details into the flowers. You look up, breaking your concentration to smile at him.
“I love you too, Buck” You reach up and press a kiss to his stubbly jaw, then another to his chin. And finally laying a big one on his cheek.
When he feels another set, of smaller lips, press a quick peck to his other cheek his heart swells.
“Love you, daddy” Faye chirps, as she settles back down. “Momma do seahorses have three eyes or four?”
“Four” You answer with a smile.
-Okay I know this wasn’t smut but this was requested and I felt like I needed to write some Dad! Bucky because I love him so much and he’s such a cinnamon roll and wouldn’t he just make the best dad? I wanted their daughters name to be something old fashioned, but still interesting because this Readers an artist and I just think she’d want her children to have unique sounding names? Idk. Enjoy. Cry. Do what you must💘😂

Trip to Disneyland Paris (27/08/17-29/08/17)
Okay, so let me start by saying that Disneyland Paris was AMAZING! It wasn’t my first time going – I went age four, age nine, and then age 15 on a French Immersion trip at school – but it was still amazing and magical, of course. I can’t recommend going enough.
I’m going to go into detail about just how awesome this trip was because I’m happy and need to share it. Under the cut for people who don’t want it on their dashes.
Getting there
So I went with my family from Sunday morning to this afternoon (Tuesday) – that’s my parents and my sister. We had to get up on Sunday morning at five in the morning to get dressed, washed and pack last minute things before our Uber arrived to take us to St. Pancras. The drive there was actually pretty cool because we got to see parts of London like Madam Tussauds and Kings Cross Station. We also saw the Grenfell tower from quite a close distance, and it was really poignant. I was a little stunned at seeing it for myself. I learnt that the Harry Potter series didn’t film at Kings Cross but at St. Pancras which is across the road because the latter station had more of a gothic feel whilst Kings Cross was originally a little bit of a dump (my dad’s words, not mine).
To get to Disneyland, we had to take the Eurostar from St. Pancras to Lilles Europe, and then we walked to a station ten minutes away that went from Lilles Flandres to Marne-la-Vallee – which is literally just outside the gates to the resort. There’s a bus station where you catch shuttle buses to the hotels; we were in the Vienna Dream Castle hotel, so we took a shuttlebus to drop our luggage off before going back to visit the park. By the time we got around to going into the park, it was about four in the afternoon (French time – we lost an hour going from England to France).
The Park
As you can imagine, getting into the park from the first gates takes some time; first you have to go through a baggage check area where your bag goes through a machine and you go through a metal detector. My dad set off alarms for having a watch and coins in his pocket, so they had to wave a wand-thing over his entire body and have him empty his pockets. Next, one you pass security, you have to walk up to where the actual Disney hotel is and you have to put your ticket in the machine to scan it – this lets you into the main park, and you’re free to roam!
Quick clarification on the layout of the park: it’s split into various areas. There’s Discoveyland, Fantasyland, Frontier-land, Adventureland, the main street…we weren’t there for long, so we didn’t get to see all of it, sadly.
Sunday in Disneyland Paris
When you first enter the actual park (as opposed to the Studio park), you come out onto a street full of shops; they sell the same things in every one, pretty much, but there are also restaurants too. If you walk straight up, you see Sleeping Beauty’s castle in the background – which, trust me, is a really amazing sight even in broad daylight.
My dad suggested that we take the train around the park to look around so that we knew the park areas, so we agreed – and the queue, guys, was insane. Let me tell you now, at Disneyland Paris you have to learn to either not let people push or you have to push yourself. People really don’t care for being polite, they just want to do things ASAP. We queued for the train for like an hour, being pushed by a seven year old and surrounded by screaming babies before getting on; we made it to two different stops before the ride stopped and the staff said they couldn’t run rides because of the parade. We decided, fuck it, and left the train to watch the parade.
We were late so we didn’t see a lot of the parade but we saw enough to appreciate it; my dad had a proper camera and got way better shots than I did on my phone, so I’ll have to see if I can share those soon. After the parade (I can’t even describe it, it was that amazing), we went to grab a drink and then decided we’d head out for some other rides.
Before the rides, my sister wanted to buy Minnie Mouse ears and I decided to get my BATB baseball cap because the sun was really bright and it covered my hair. We visited Sleeping Beauty’s castle, looking at the dragon underneath, and then headed off for Fantasy-land. We went on two rides in Fantasyland, on my sister’s request; the first was a little boat ride that took you around to look at mini-versions of scenes from famous fairy-tales. Ciara loved the Rapunzel one (Tangled is her favourite, she says) whereas I love the Beauty and the Beast one with Belle in her village. This would have been a lot more fun, had the ride not kept stopping (I think it was because people were struggling to climb in and out of moving boats). The second ride was a “junior train” based on Dumbo’s circus train, and that was fun whilst also being tame.
Then my mum had the wild and random idea of doing the “Star Wars” ride – by which she meant Hyperspace Mountain (I’m not sure if that’s the name – it was something like that). She was like, “Oh, I never do rollercoasters, I have to do it for the guys at work” so we were like “hm, okay, we already regret this but…”
THIS RIDE WAS TERRIFYING. Basically, you’re held in by those things you put over your shoulder and you go hurtling through the dark whilst stuff flashes and shoots, and you go really high before dropping all at once and upside and… By the end of it, my mum was sobbing with mascara running down her face, my dad was queasy and had to run to find a bench, and I was almost-certain that I had, in fact, shit my pants (I didn’t) whilst struggling to stand because the urge to vomit was too strong.
There’s a reason that ride is not for young children.
After this, we decided that we were going to take a break on the rides until the next day; we found out that at eleven each evening there was the Disney Illuminations show so we had to kill time before doing that. We ended up eating something at a food bar before wandering around and ending up in Frontierland – i.e. the wild west. My mum pissed about trying to find a cowboy hat whilst I checked out the cute plushes (I don’t care if I’m 19, the plushes were adorable). My mum ended up not buying a cowboy hat that evening because she was worried she’d look stupid (she did buy one later).
We settled down to watch the show at twenty-past-ten – and it was packed. People had literally sat and waited hours to claim the best positions, so we only got to see the upper bit from the side. I bought myself a glowing-night-sparkly-necklace-thing (you know how people wave those flickering lights about? Yeah, like that).
I’m going to talk about Disney Illuminations properly on the second night because we saw all of it on the second night, but it’s amazing in every sense of the word. It’s incredible. More on that later, however!
After the show, the park was closing – and the mad rush of 50, 000 (at least) people trying to push their way to the exit at once was terrifying. My dad and Ciara got separated from me and my mum several times. We somehow managed to fight our way all the way out and onto the first shuttlebus to get back to the hotel where we had a drink at the bar before going to bed.
Monday at Disneyland Paris
After we showered and had breakfast, we set off early again – it took ages, of course, to go through security and all that, but finally we were ready to go. We had established a day plan at Breakfast: head to Frontierland, start with Phantom Manner and work our way around.
Phantom Manor was a little bit of a wait but not too long; that was pretty fun – not terribly frightening when you’re my age and have been several times, but interesting nonetheless. My dad chickened out of going on the Thunder Mountain train, so me, my Mum and Ciara queued for just under an hour to go on that – we all agreed it was worth it, and we were all laughing and having fun by the end. It’s a ride where you’re on a train and hurtling around an abandoned mine, but it’s outside and you can get a little splashed (which, given the weather, was welcomed).
After this, my mum finally relented and bought a cowboy hat for herself; we had a go at the shooting range (Two euro a go) before getting more drinks and continuing on. Everyone wanted to try the new Pirates of the Caribbean ride, so we set off to find that, well aware that we’d probably have to queue for an hour.
And then, as I was walking past the lagoon, I saw Peter and Wendy from Peter Pan doing meet-and-greet.
I have wanted to meet Peter since I came to the park on the French immersion trip but I’ve never been able to. The line didn’t actually appear too long, so after bickering over it with my family I went to queue up alone; they waited in the shade, looking pissed as hell. My sister and dad left, in the end, while my mum waited to take a picture (begrudgingly, I might add).
I want to write about meeting Peter and Wendy in a separate post because I feel that it really deserves a separate post of its own.
After the meet-and-greet, my mum and I went to queue up for Pirates, and by this point my dad and sister were near the front so we were an hour behind. It was an okay ride, just log-flumes really, though apparently my sister and dad had a far more interesting experience because their ride stopped and ended up getting bumped repeatedly.
We met them afterwards, in the gift shop; by this time, we were all shattered, it was nearly four in the afternoon, and my sister kept begging to visit the restaurant “Annette’s” (a 50s styled diner). So we walked for half an hour, our feet killing us, all hot and sweaty and sticky, and got there – only to find that there was a queue just to be seated. It took another half an hour for us to be given a table, though after that the speed was pretty good.
My dad found an unattended bag in the men’s bathroom and had to tell security. The food was delicious, don’t get me wrong – but I ate far too much. I would have probably been fine, if not for the combination of the Coke float and the Cookie Dough Ice-cream sundae. (I got glutty, I know)
It was so bad that for the rest of the afternoon/evening I was a) constipated and b) had trapped wind. That sounds hilarious but it was in reality very painful.
We all did a bit of shopping, staying together for some of it and then splitting up for an hour before meeting at a bench facing the castle – it was 7:30 (I think?) and my dad and Ciara wanted to go back to the hotel to go to the bar; me and my mum wanted to stay for the Illumination show. In the end, we won out and we stayed – but we had to remain seated on that bench for three and a half hours. I darted off a few times to a) watch the Disney princesses dancing a short distance away (so did Ciara and my dad, to be honest), b) get a bottle of Coke and c) get popcorn. By the time I came back with popcorn, it was dark and it was impossible to get back to the bench without stepping on someone who was sitting down and waiting. After that, we had no choice but to stay at the bench.
In the end, it all paid off because we got an amazing view of the Disney Illuminations show!
Disney Illuminations
Starting at 11pm each night, it’s a show where clips of various Disney films and the like are projected onto Sleeping Beauty’s castle whilst music plays; there are also fireworks, fire bursts, water splashing/bursting…it’s amazing, well and truly.
I’m not sure I should be revealing the entire show on here because I saw it with no idea of what to expect, and it was amazing. I will tell you that there’s segments involving Mickey, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean, Beauty and the Beast (2017), Star Wars, Frozen and then a big finale. It’s about 20-30 minutes long. If you really want to watch it, then I’m sure it’s available on YouTube.
I will talk about the BATB section though because it made me tear up! I wrote a post in my notebook about why Belle is my favourite princess and why seeing Belle when I was little/growing up really impacted me (a girl who likes books? Dude, that’s me sold!) I loved the remake, perhaps more than the original in some ways, and besides that – seeing Emma Watson’s face projected on a Disney castle was a little too much for my overly-sensitive ass to handle, so I ended up crying during the whole thing (in a good way – it was beautiful).
Things I bought
I went with eight-five euro, and I have hardly any left because of how expensive everything is!
So the BATB cap I bought was €24.99 – I think I posted a picture earlier.
I bought the necklace lights which were €6 (I thought they were 10, so yay on that)
I bought a small Mickey plush for €17.99 – and he’s TINY. I dread to think what the massive over-sized ones cost.
Finally I bought a Limited Edition Beauty and the Beast pin for €13.99 – it’s a book with “Beauty and the Beast” written on the cover, and when you open it (like a locket), there’s a picture of Emma Watson as Belle inside.
*
All in all, I really enjoyed my holiday – I wish we could have stayed for longer but…alas, we booked pretty late. If we go again in the near future, I hope we book to go longer because there just wasn’t enough time for everything. :/
But other than that, I had fun! :D It was the break I feel I needed to get away from stuff, so hopefully in the future I’ll be a little more chilled about things.

Hi everyone! 😊👋I have noticed a lot of really cool pics of everyone’s stim toys, so I thought I would post some of my current favorite ones, too! I know it looks like there are more plushies than actual stim toys here, but plz bear with me 😅 - There’s Oh, my Boov plush…I got him from Target a couple yrs ago sort of on impulse (but mostly b/c he was so cute) and he’s just soooo comforting and soft. 😊I like to stim with his nostricles ( the little curlicues on the sides of his head) 😊"Home" is one of my favorite DreamWorks movies 🙂
- A red and black mini fidget cube….I’ve hardly been able to put it down since I got it 🙂
- clear blue Tangle Jr
- spinner ring with a “wave” pattern on the outside
- ToriDango crow plush…crows are my favorite bird, and this little one is so soft and fits right in the palm of your hand 💕
- My three favorite Disney Tsum Tsums: Tiny Sadness, Baby Dumbo, and Little Dory 💖
- Two crystals/stones a good friend gave me
- an old baby doll’s cap that is/was white with green bows on it….it was actually one of my first go-to stim toys years b4 I even knew what stimming and stim toys were.
- my die cast of Susie the Little Blue Coupe 🚘😊
- a tiny black lab Pound Puppy named “Shad” (short for “Shadow”)-also super-soft! 💕They had these tiny Pound Puppies in the Easter aisle of Target for a while, and it reminded me of the little tiny Pound Puppies toys my grandma and I used to have in the 90s. 🙂
- a Calico Critters cat from the same friend who gave me the two crystals 😺I love toys with fuzz/flocked material on them 😊
- Clumsy Smurf, who I’ve most recently “adopted” as a stim toy….Clumsy is my favorite Smurf from the 80s cartoon and the reboot “The Lost Village”…..he’s just so adorable and nice to everybody! 😊His head, arms and torso move around, and sometimes I’ll just take him out of my pocket (where he chills with Little Dory these days) and fidget with him.
- and last, a pink hair scrunchie! My hair’s not nearly long enough to wear scrunchies in it, but I like having soft things around my wrist as a pressure stim. I was able to find several cute hair scrunchies at a Dollar Tree store (I ❤️dollar stores btw!) 😊
…..one quick word of caution about wearing things on your wrist (especially elastic items) to pressure stim tho- just make sure it’s not *too* tight and fits snugly enough to feel good but not put circulation at risk. Hair scrunchies do tend to loosen up a lil bit after repeated use/washing, too….but you all probably knew all this already, so I’ll shut up now 😂
All right….I guess that about wraps it up 😊love seeing everyone’s stim toy collections! ❤️

[image description: sixteen Disney Tsum Tsum mini plush, twelve displayed in a white rectangular plastic basket turned shelf by positioning it upwards on its side, four resting on the top edge of the basket. Top row: Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Mufasa, Simba. Second row: Tigger, Eeyore, Timon, Pumbaa. Third row: three-eyed alien from Toy Story, Lotso, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse. Bottom row: Stitch, Bambi, Dumbo, Donald Duck. Behind the plush Tsum Tusms sit two bath ducks, one with a blue pirate hat, and two fashion dolls.]
I want to talk Disney Tsum Tsum mini plushies in being accessible, relatively affordable, easily transportable stim toys, especially for texture seekers like myself. I don’t have any of the fancy or exclusive ones; these were all bought from my local Target. Tigger, Piglet, Bambi and Stitch are priced regularly at $3 AUD; the others are priced regularly at $6 AUD. However, since Target has had regular 40% and 50% off sales over the last few months, I’ve never paid more than $4 AUD for a mini Tsum Tsum (and often far less).
(I tried looking at Target online, but they only have listings for medium and large plush Tsum Tsums. Still very stimmy, but less portable.)
Plush Tsum Tsums are so nice to touch. They’re made from a very soft felt-like plush fabric with a layer of faux-suede underneath with embroidered features on face and body. They also have fake fur, bows, layers of fabric and other additions to create the character’s appearance or costume, meaning there’s often a lot of different textures to make fingertips or lips happy - unlike most small soft toys/plushies. In addition, they’re partially stuffed with plastic pellets as well as polyester stuffing, making them squishable and crunchable. I have one in every bag I own, one on my desk and a rather battered Simba floating around my room because, for some reason, his fabric is the softest.
If you fidget with them a lot, the plush will wear a little and take on a faded, slightly matted quality. The edges of ears tend to wear a lot - they don’t unravel, but they do fray. I’ve got doubles of a couple so I can fidget with those without worrying about ruining them, and my Mickey is looking quite well loved.
They’re not going to be the kind of stim toy you can take out in a waiting room - not like a Tangle or stress ball - but they’re great to have in my hand when I’m reading, watching TV or even working online. As they’re collectibles (if you want to appear a little more adult, go for the Star Wars ones) even having one on your desk shouldn’t draw too much attention. The retail workers at Target just ask me about my collection!
As long as you don’t pay full price for them - because $6 AUD for a toy about as long as my fingers is a bit expensive for me, even if they’re really well made - I consider them to be fabulous stim toys.
(If you end up with enough to stack, though, I’d recommend using a side-turned basket or box as a shelf: when I had them stacked without the basket, they kept falling off. Slotted into the basket, they stay put no matter how much I bump the box underneath.)
