I just want everyone to know that in the span of 3 days, I have made 3 loads of laundry, and have a 4th already sorted and ready to go (which includes towels / blankets / bedding). I still need to fold them and put them away BUT the important part is done 🥹
#once i out them all away i need to wash my plushies too but i'll leave it for next weekend#the laundry situation was bugging me A LOT. almost ran out of socks#why is laundry the most arduous and daunting of house chores? even dishes are much easier to get through#that post about making coffee in a million steps really resonates with me#because that's what doing laundry feels like. it's not just “wash clothes and put them away”#it's gather all dirty clothing in one place -> double check my “in use” clothes to see what also needs to be washed -> separate by colour#put on the washer -> take off the washer -> check if the clothesline is empty (and empty if not)#put them on the clothesline to dry -> empty the clothesline -> bring them to my room -> sort and fold -> put away -> rinse and repeat#many many steps. putting them outside to dry takes so long and so much energy out of me ugh#(no we do not use dryers here. that's not a thing. also i've had the experience back in the uk and while very convenient#it wears the fabric down so so much. clothes nowadays are made so flimsy and terrible quality#and using a dryer ruined a few of my favourite shirts. i do miss having warm sheets straight away tho)#but yeah. adult does basic chore whomp whomp (it's hard. i get it. you get it. i'm proud of myself and everyone else who has done A Task)#darya talks to herself

I need someone to pay me money for existing
#literally so sick of being paid once a month and forced to expect it to stretch all month#its not even 2k how am i supposed to buy food and bus passes and ubers to get places for two people#when the other person doesnt manage their money AT ALL#i pay half the rent and all the utilities and am in charge of all the chores EXCEPT doing dishes (have to put them away tho) and#folding the laundry (have to do it myself first tho and the clean clothes will sit on the couch for weeks)#i am so sick of being underpaid and taken advantage of#ecks speaks

i'm sitting on two fics that need to be finished, a shitload of fics that need to be read, and a bookshelf full of books i still need to get through.
and yet there's no time to knock any of it off the big list. rip the guilt. 😑
#im mainly braindead from cleaning still#im down to misc stuff that needs to find a place#getting some to go things out of the house#putting up wall art and curtains#and what's left will have to wait until i have more furniture bc i dont have certain organization stuff to put the other things away#like the apt looks so much better but it's still at 90% or so#on top of that is just regular house stuff - dishes laundry deep cleaning etc#my office is still the messiest place and that's bc i gotta wait to get another desk and file cabinet for everything else i have#😭 i cannot wait til i get to the point where everything is done and put away fully#x

It's funny how big a difference a small change can make. After a couple weeks of being able to do household chores at my own pace in my own way, instead of needing to do everything Right Now and In The Right Way, I'm... actually kind of enjoying it??
I'm enjoying doing laundry. On my birthday. Who even am I lmao.
#laundry has always been the absolute worst chore for me#I've always hated it and put it off for as long as possible#but just knowing i can do laundry and dishes and sweeping and all of that a little at a time#and it doesn't have to be magazine perfect#takes away SO much of the stress#apparently if you give me implicit permission to half-ass things#i will in fact *cease* to half-ass them#who knew#file: storm has thoughts

It's really nice having a free housekeeping service thru my Medicaid but ever since my regular housekeeper that I had for a year (now friend) got promoted in March it's like every other person I've had fuckin hates disabled people
#there was one perso who would drive by my house to clock in (your location has to show that you're at the client's house) and leave#found out when i called and was like hey why has no one been showing up and the office was like it shows shes been clocking in there what??#apparently i wasn't the only one and she got fired#and then we had a woman who treated my shift like it was her break time#i mean she would sit at our table and eat a full meal and talk on the phone as loud as possible instead of cleaning#she'd clean for 20 minutes usually just dishes then spend the rest of the time eating or playing on her phone or on a phone call#she would put away WET TOWELS i mean they were more than just 'damp'#and once left a full unflushed shit in our toilet with shit stains on the toilet seat#i remember once she sat outside in our front yard on a phone call and when i went out there to ask what was going on#she was just like ''im on the phone'' and ignored me#i asked for her not to come back several times and they sent her 2 or 3 more times#and then i got a new lady who just straight up lies to my face#i give her a list of what i need done for the day and she will only do the dishes#then sit at our table and be like ''oh i got everything else done I'm just waiting on laundry''#and then I'd look to see that actually nothing else was done at all counters dirty floors dirty LAUNDRY NOT DONE#i confronted her last time#i was like ''hey I've asked for the bathroom to get done the past few times now and it hasn't been''#and she was like ''yes I did clean it'' so i wiped my hand across the sink and showed her the dust and grime stuck to my fingers#and then didn't clean it again that day. and said sat at the table saying she was waiting on laundry. and no laundry was done#and said she swept the living room which absolutely was not swept#bc I'd get out the vacuum and she'd be like ''oh i can just use the broom'' (on the carpet??)#I'd get the bathroom cleaning supplies out and she'd just put them away#and i dont mean that im being super picky about wanting things cleaned prefectly#or thaf she's ''not doing it right''#she's literally not doing it at all#i told my friend/ex housekeeper about this and she told me that every other person who's had her also asked for her not to come back#oop she's here. it's gonna be her last time i called the office and set it in stone this morning that she wont be coming back#.bdo

I cleaned my house sooooo much Sunday.... sooo much ...
#WAAAAY WAY BETTER THAN IT WAS + I'm proud of myself for doing it#It's been hard. With Olive's back to back surgeries and Rascal's sudden fostering sitch I couldn't clean like I usually do#Everything else just dropped off. Couldn't keep up with it along with everything else#It's not done yet but it's SO much more livable in there now. And now I'm excited to come home to it#Wanting to vaccuum today ...#But I got 2 loads of laundry done yesterday and cleaned out the food I've been afraid of in my fridge#And took out the trash. Did all the litterboxes again and swept up#Hope threw up so I cleaned that up @__@ and I put all the dishes in my dishwasher away#Put new dirty dishes from the sink in there & cleaned out my sink ... cleaned some counter space ...#Cleaned my stovetop (it was REALLY bad...)#Cleaned the cage Olive was staying in when she was recovering and folded it up to store#Did all my bedsheets laundry (saved a blanket and slept on the couch cause it was busy drying lol)#But it was a lot ... still not done yet but man ... it was a lot ..

Why is putting laundry away like the absolute WORST chore?
#I procrastinate about it like 90% of the time#my hamper is just full of clean clothes#and the dirty clothes hamper sometimes is also full of clean clothes#and then there's a dirty clothes pile and a worn but not yet dirty clothes pile on the floor#chores#adulting#laundry#like I scrubbed the bathroom and shook out the rugs and swept and mopped and did one round of dishes and am about to do another#and took stuff down cellar which requires moving furniture to access...#but putting away my clothes? *dramatic death scene*
