Rambley x Homeless!Reader (SFW)
relationship: can be read platonically or romantically notes: the reader has no gender or pronouns used. Rambley might comes off sounding a little protective/yandere, it's entirely up to you if he's just being protective or a yandere. A/N: There's not much to work with for Rambley content but I had this little idea and it's been eating away at me so I tried to write a bit of it. I might work on the main story itself just for myself for shits and giggles.
Rambley always hates it when you leave the park. He knows you don’t have a choice, the park no longer has food and anything that had been left behind has long since molded. So he knows there’s nothing he can do about it, you’re only human after all.
It’s been forty minutes since you left, forty long minutes since Rambley saw you off at the furthest screen he could reach by the entrance. He prattled on about strangers, avoiding sketchy-looking areas, the whole spiel as if you hadn’t been surviving on your own all these years before finally taking up a home in the abandoned Indigo Park.
A whole hour and a half passed before Rambley picked up movement at the entrance, quickly flicking to life on the screen, face mushed against the screen. He saw you carrying an armful of plastic shopping bagsand most importantly you looked unharmed.
You spot Rambley awaiting you on the screen and approach him excitedly, showing the bags of your latest outing. “I scored some good stuff!”Rambley pressed his face further into the screen, his face a mix of worry and relief all in one. “You’ve been gone for one hour and thirty-two minutes!” He leaned away from the screen but kept his hands on the edges of the screen. If he could shake the monitor you know he would. “I’ve been worried sick! What if something happened to you? I-I can’t help you if that happens!”
Although it’s not uncommon for Rambley to have a little freak out every time you leave Indigo Park, this was a little more than his usual freakout. A brief look of worry washes over you as you step away and further into the park, missing Rambley’s expression as he frantically follows to a different screen as you head straight for one of the screens more at your height in the shop.
“Hey, Rambley it’s okay! I’m okay.” You set the bags on the ground and give him a little spin around, showing you were completely unharmed. “I’m sorry for taking longer than my usual hour.”
Rambley’s eyes flick around the screen as he examines you, his ears pressed flat before he determines you don’t look more messy than normal. “Okay…” His mood completely shifts, ears perk, and eyes curious. “So whatcha get?!” Surely you got good stuff if it took an extra thirty-two minutes and forty-three seconds to get.”
Turning away from him you roll your eyes and lift the bags up, setting them on the nearby counter. “The first aid kits here still have bandages but any ointments are expired, so I managed to get some antibacterial ointment and a little bottle of iodine.”
The raccoon oo’s and ah’s each item you pull out, chin resting on his little paws with fascination and curiosity.
“The lady was also really nice and gave me a discount for the toiletries.” You placed down two bottles, one of shampoo and another of conditioner, as well as two cheaply wrapped bars of soap. It’d probably feel like shit on your skin but the scent was okay and it beat staying covered in filth all the time.
Beggers can’t be choosers after all.
His nose twitched slightly when he saw the soap bars, he couldn’t smell it but he just had an inkling those little bars held a cheap perfume smell to them. Stinky.
You show him a cheap little sewing kit with some thread to fix up your old clothes, a bottle of pain meds and two cheap washcloths. Rambley eyes another bag behind you that seemed far more full than this bag had been.
“What about that bag?” He pokes the screen and you look at the bag he’s pointing at before abandoning the items in your hand with excitement.
“Ah!” The bag rips slightly as you pull it across the countertop and open it up. “The lady also gave me a really good deal for these cans, they’re all dented but otherwise completely fine.”
You hold one of the dented cans up for him to see and his face scrunched up. “Is that safe to eat still? It’s not damaged?”
“It’s not opened and that’s all I care about.” You shrug your shoulder and start taking the cans out of the bag, rattling off the various canned goodies.
Rambley’s face shifts through each food you list off, some with curiosity and some with disgust. Thank god he can’t eat, some of those sound awful! When you’re finished showing him the cans he exhales and watches you from his usual position on screen.
“Well, I’m glad you got a lucky haul!” He shrinks a little on-screen and fidgets with his hands. “So… this means you won’t have to leave the park for a few days at least, yeah?”
After you finish checking over that you weren’t missing anything you hum in thought. “I should be good for a little bit yeah, I still have the rest of my stuff.” You glance over at the pile of things Rambley kept safe for you when you were gone, making sure it was still there.
Of course, it was, nobody but you had been dumb enough to break into the park and wander around. In hindsight you’re very grateful that you did, it led you to Rambley, which led to having a consistent place to sleep, a home.
“Oh goodie!” Rambley danced on the screen before flicking to one of the much larger screens. “How about you put that all away and tell me about all the things you saw? Don’t leave any details out!”You tuck your new belongings with your old ones and make yourself comfortable at the counter, not sparing a detail as you recount your trip into the city.

It's June! It's Pride! It's (my) Birthday!
The Introduction Spiel:
Hi, I'm Reyah! (any pronouns! no really, go for it!) On June 21st, I'm turning 32, an exciting and mysterious age to be!! (So I've heard)
Warning: This is a post asking for financial help, and if there's one thing I would ask is that if you read the whole thing: please reblog.
I'm a multiply-disabled queer person of color, a writer, artist, and photographer. I live with three of my best-good-pal-friends, (@renthony, @kryptidkhaos, and @natalieironside) and our collective army of pets.
We all know it's damned hard to be all these things at the same time under the capitalistic hellscape we're living under, and we/I am always in need of a lot of help with the existing.
I ended the month of May with some smaller bills left still to pay, but am thankful to say that June already had fewer bills than usual due, and the amount I need to start the summer off right is actually less than I was afraid it would be! Woohoo!
What I Make
I mentioned my artistic endeavors, let me show you them!!
Writing
I write less often than I'd like, but I share poetry and shorts, when I have them, on my Patreon!
You must be over 18 to pledge, as I have, can, and will again share Adult Content occasionally. Patrons pledging at least $1/month get access to all content. But most posts becomes free to access eventually. :)
When I do longer form content, I primarily write fantasy with a focus on queer brown characters with disabilities, mental illnesses, and disordered attachments. Because therapy is expensive, and writing is free.
Photography
I do wildlife and landscape photography, primarily, but you can also check out my portrait and event work on my website! You can purchase PRINTS HERE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And because it's my birthday, I'm offering a 32% discount code for all my prints! The code is good from June 1st to July 1st!
A Note, if you purchase a print: first off: thank you. (please feel free to send a photo of wherever you display it!!!) secondly: this will not go towards the received totals on my financial need because Pixels doesn't pay out until nearly 2 months after the purchase. Funds made from sales will go towards future needs.
CODE: PDHHTR
Artwork
I've been exploring art, both analog and digital, a lot more lately, and have shared both process photos and final drafts on Patreon! Here are just a few examples:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I admittedly don't post on patreon as much as I wish I had the energy to, but I try to make at least one thing a month, provided I have the spoons and time.
Creativity is, like, a level 5 spell slot when you're disabled and impoverished, and I appear to have exactly One (1) of those available at any given time.
The Needs:
The Bills: $1,100
Yeah, we had to get here eventually. Since this post is already pretty long, I'm putting the rest under a cut.
More than half of this, as always, is just for the car payment and insurance that keeps the regular day-job-haver getting to said job, and all our medical appointments, errands, etc.
I still owe around $13,000 total on Johnny Car, but I think we all know that's just not a real number.
The rest of the funds would go toward paying the small subscriptions, for my various medications, and the regular attempts to whittle away slowly at the $4,300 worth of other debt.
($2,200 of back taxes, and $2,100 of credit card debt, and gods, do I mean slowly. Interest piles up so much faster than I can seem to whittle.)
If you're able and willing to help with paying the bills, direct donations can be made here:
PayPal | (link)
Venmo | (dovesndecay)
Cashapp | ($dovesndecay)
If you can, and only if you can.
The It Would Be Cools:
Since every dime that comes in goes primarily towards food and bills, there's little left afterward to be put towards other life necessities like clothes, toiletries, let alone things I just think would be nice/neat/nifty to have.
I have a High Priority wishlist. It's mostly art supplies, bulk toiletries, etc.
I'm woefully low on clothes, being short, fat, and trans, so very little of what I own actually feels good to wear so much as it simply covers my body. I have a wishlist of clothes that would be nice to have.
For everything that firmly lands under the "I just want it" category, I have an Enrichment list. It's mostly stuffies, but also games, room decor, hobby supplies, books, and stim toys.
Our household keeps a big wishlist for things we need, want, groceries, accessibility products, and everything in-between.
Okay, now what?
Well, now, I'm gonna ask that if you got to this point, and if you can't/don't want to do any of the things listed above, then please reblog this post.
The more people that reblog it, the more likely I'm able to pay my bills for one more month this year.
But if you don't, it's not like anyone's gonna know. I'm not omniscient, I swear.
Anyway, I don't expect anyone to do anything if you can't or even if you just don't wanna, but if you can and you're willing to, it means the world.
I didn't think this is where I'd be at 32. But I never really expected to get here at all in the end, and it's a lot nicer than I thought it would be. Mostly because I am surrounded by amazing people who have the capacity to be so much kinder than I will ever have the words to describe.
Thank you, and to all, a happy pride!

Just a fanfic I have written for @celestialkiri
I am so in love with Sophie and Wukong and thought I might write a story of how Sophie ended up in the JTTW universe. All credit for character creation goes to @celestialkiri @jttw-monkeybusiness. I really hope you like this, I tried my darndest!
Chapter 1 - Bad Luck
Luck finally seemed to be going Sophie’s way. Standing under the awning of a storefront she had never glanced at, on a street she had traveled nearly every day for the past six years, the universe had finally given her a sign.
Her day had not started out so terrible; she had found an anthology of 19th century poetry at a discounted price, as well as a special edition of National Geographics about old world monkeys. Along with a couple of used novels, her outing to the consignment store had been a net positive. Also, her mother had texted her to let her know that Granny had cancelled their plans for dinner that evening.
Sophie had feigned disappointment at the news, truthfully though, she had not been in the mood to have her grandmother lecture her on how she wasn’t in a relationship, how she wasn’t living on her own yet, and how her pursuit of a master’s degree had yet to produce a meaningful career. Yes, Sophie was in a slump: she was moving back home into her mother’s house after her roommates decided to fall in love, marry, and move to the suburbs; and no, she had yet to find any job that would allow her to pay for her own apartment.
It’s not like Sophie wanted to move back home. At least her mother was being supportive. She would not have to pay rent and would have some place safe to stay while she looked for work that she wanted to do; or at the very least would pay well. Nearly all of her personal belongings were already at her mother’s home, and after leaving her old apartment for good, all she had on her was her new used treasures, her sketch book that she took everywhere, the toiletries from her apartment and last night’s pajamas.
Her luck for the day changed when the city bus suddenly lurched forward, sending herself and all the other passengers flying from their seats. Then a clunk, a sputter, and a horrid grinding sound. Finally puffs of white smoke billowed out of the engine. Everyone exited relatively unscathed and stood on the sidewalk and watched as the befuddled bus driver attempted to resuscitate the dead jalopy. A relief bus was on its way, but it was going to be a while, and would be crowded. Sophie looked at the intersection and estimated that the walk home would be two hours tops; too late to be home for dinner but that wasn’t a problem anymore. And so, Sophie continued the rest of her journey on foot.
The weather was sunny and cool, and Sophie took the time walking to contemplate her current situation. She had been searching for jobs but had been met with rejection after rejection: you do not have the qualifications necessary for our position; your qualifications are great, but you don’t have enough experience; you seem to be overqualified for this position, but we will keep your resume on file. The money Sophie had in savings was nearly depleted; she didn’t want to go back to a job as a part-time barista; and online commission work wasn’t enough to live off of. She was starting to feel desperate for something, anything in her field.
Sophie traversed the city sidewalks at a steady pace, mindful not to step on any cracks, a habit picked up from childhood. It started out as some old superstition which then evolved into a routine, an odd competition in which no one but her was competing. Sophie smiled to herself watching her shadow and her feet step one after the other indifferent to the sounds of the street around her. Soon enough, the darkness of her shadow faded, and the colour of the pavement greyed as shadows gathered over head. Sophie looked up and watch the rain come down; a light drizzle quickly turning into a torrential downpour. A large raindrop landed in her eye causing her to shake her rub her eyes until tears washed out any foreign particles and she could see clearly again; she was standing on a crack in the sidewalk. Bad luck.
Sophie didn’t have time to dwell on what her bad luck might be as she sought to closest shelter she could, a storefront awning. It was an unassuming building, windows plastered with pictures of far away landscapes, sunset beaches, and tropical flowers. Above the door read the name Eastern to Western Expeditions. Slightly below the store name, at eye level with Sophie, was handwritten sign on what looked like a scrap piece of orange neon cardboard: Help needed URGENTLY! No experience necessary, Inquire within.
The rain showed no signs of letting up any time soon, and it seemed to Sophie as though the gods themselves had placed her in this spot, at this moment for a reason. At the very least, she would be foolish not to inquire about the job. She opened the door and stepped inside.
********
The chimes at the door rang softly as Sophie stumbled through the threshold. Without any grace she quickly regained her balance. The entrance, it seemed, was a few inches higher than the pavement outside. Sophie scanned the open room to make sure there were no witnesses to her dramatic entrance; there was no one. Despite the crisp white walls, the room was dimly lit due to the lack of natural light blocked by pictures on the shop front window and overhead lights were only giving off a faint warm glow. Probably for the ambiance, Sophie assumed, the floor was carpeted in bamboo mats, the wall art took inspiration from Ming Dynasty art. A desk stood near the back of the room, solid mahogany. No computer or land line, just a small bonsai, a desk sized rock garden with mini rake, and a Tiffany lamp with intricate lotus petals coloured pink and white.
A woman stepped through the beaded doorway with a Staff Only sign above. An Asian woman, slightly taller than Sophie. Her skin was as close to porcelain as Sophie had ever seen. Her dark, lustrous hair tied tightly back in a low ponytail showing off her prominent widow’s peak; not a single strand of hair was out of place. She was wearing white pants and a blazer with hints of a cream frilled blouse underneath. Poor Sophie was so awestruck as the woman met her gaze and smiled that she didn’t even register the peculiarity of what was in the strange woman’s hand: a tray with a tea pot and two cups, already steeped as though this was the exact time tea was to be served. The woman sat down quietly behind the desk and Sophie unthinkingly sat on the other side.
“Unusual weather we are having today,” the woman said as she handed Sophie a cup of tea.
“Yeah,” Sophie replied wordlessly, grasping the cup with both hands. The warmth of the cup made her suddenly aware of the coolness of the room. After a few seconds, which seemed to Sophie like eras, she finally spoke to the woman; “I saw the sign on your door.”
The woman laughed. The sound of her laugh was warm and comforting to Sophie, it put her at ease. It reminded her of the way her mother would laugh at her childhood antics. Sophie felt like she would say or do anything to hear that laugh again. “I was wondering when someone would take notice of my sign. It has been up for quite a while, but you are the first to inquire about it.”
This is my sign Sophie thought to herself Luck is on my side. “As it stands, I am currently unemployed, and I am looking for work. I don’t have a resume on hand, but I can gladly email a copy to you. I just thought I would come inside and introduce myself first and…” Sophie began to feel her breath escape from her, bringing along with it any sense of self-assuredness and cohesion.  and inquire about the nature of the job you have advertised… and… it’s raining outside.”
The woman across from Sophie smiled as she took a sip from her cup. There was no sign of judgement on her face. She spoke with a soft authority. “I pride myself as a good judge of character, and I believe you may be an excellent candidate for the position.”
Sophie relaxed her shoulders as she exhaled and decided to take a sip of the tea. It was bitter, but not unpleasant. “Are you looking for an administrative position? I don’t have any formal experience, but I appreciate the importance of keeping organized files and detailed record keeping. As a master’s student I had to…”
“Oh no, no,” the woman interrupted Sophie. “This is not an administrative position. I have been contracted by a client of mine to seeking an assistant on an expedition. This is a travel agency of sorts. We cater to individuals who are interested in more meaningful travel experience; off the beaten path, away from crowded tourist spots and immerse themselves in cultural customs and natural wildlife in small tour groups with a low carbon footprint.”
Whatever remaining confidence Sophie had quickly begun to seep away. “You would need me to travel?”
            The woman nodded.
“Like, travel out of the country travel?”
“I can assure you that you will be completely safe on this excursion.”
Despite the woman’s smile the genuineness of her voice, Sophie was anything but assured. Her passport had expired two years ago. What vaccines would she need? Would she need travel visas? Was this a front for human trafficking? Am I being trafficked right now? Sophie calmly placed her teacup on the table as she began to plan her exit strategy. Why were there two cups of tea? How did she know someone was coming? I’m being punked? Is that still a thing? I’m on camera right now? Sophie mustered a smile on her face, “Like I said, I just wanted to pop in and inquire. I will definitely send you a resume later on tonight… or tomorrow.” As Sophie stood up to leave for the exit, the woman rose as well with an unnatural grace which left Sophie speechless.
“I appreciate you coming in” the woman said guiding the bewildered Sophie to the front door. She had her hand on Sophie’s shoulder. Just get out of this place and never think about it again. Just get out of this place. Just get out of this place. Sophie repeated the mantra in her head. It was the only way she could keep her composure. She barely noticed the sound of chimes as the woman opened the door for her.
“It was a pleasure to meet you…”
Sophie was barely paying attention to what the woman was saying. Just step out the door and go home. You are going to be fine. Everything is going to be fine.
“…and Sophie?” the woman’s voice was sounded somewhat empathetic.
I didn’t tell her my name.
            “Mind that first step.”
With a firm push from the woman, Sophie fell forward. Not into the rainy street but into complete darkness.

You’re On Your Own, Kid - Part 2
Inspired by a line of the song You’re On Your Own, Kid by Taylor Swift that I feel fits the hunter lifestyle:
You’re on your own, kid
You always have been
Summary: You’re used to being on your own. You’d been on your own as long as you could remember. Could Sam show you that it isn’t the only way to live?
Sam x Reader
Masterlist
Tumblr media
You
Your eyes snapped open the second you heard the door creak. You reached under your pillow for your gun before remembering that you were stuck in some kind of bunker, sans weapons.
After you remembered that, you relaxed a little, though your guard was still up knowing that you were in the home of two hunters you didn’t know.
“Here,” you heard someone say gruffly from the doorway. You blinked harshly at the light from the hallway but reacted quickly enough to catch the bottle of water coming your way. You realized then how dry your mouth was and opened it, quickly downing almost the whole bottle.
Dean leaned in the doorway, arms folded. You could tell he wasn’t your biggest fan, and the feeling was mutual. Still, he was allowing a complete stranger to heal in his home, so you couldn’t be too annoyed with him.
”Thanks,” you said, chucking the empty bottle back to him.
He merely grunted. He turned and left, seemingly satisfied that you’d taken in more liquid.
You decided to scoot to the edge of the bed and attempt standing. Your bladder was screaming and you could only assume the place had a bathroom somewhere.
You stood slowly and shakily, happy when you made it upright without falling over. The second you took a step, though, your legs wobbled and you started to fall.
“Whoa, Bambi,” Sam said, wrapping an arm around your waist and keeping you from hitting the floor. “You gonna make a habit of this?” he asked.
”I was fine, Sam,” you said, annoyed. Not only did you not like having a stranger’s arm around you, but you definitely didn’t like needing to be saved.
“Sure,” he said, chuckling in a way you were starting to become accustomed to. “Where are you trying to go?”
You sighed. You knew you didn’t have enough strength yet to walk on your own. And as annoyed as that made you, you also resigned yourself to the fact that you didn’t have a choice but to let Sam and his warm, strong arms help you along.
Warm, strong arms? Where did that come from?
”Bathroom,” you responded finally.
“Let me walk you?” he asked. You both knew you didn’t really have a choice, so you appreciated that he even bothered to ask.
“Okay,” you relented. “But just to the door. I’ll take it from there,” you added, snapping at him.
He slowly walked you down the hall, his arm never moving from your waist and his other hand grasping yours to give you more support.
”So, how did you sleep?”
“Fine,” you said flatly. The truth was that you’d slept the best you had in a very long time. You were sure that it was partly because you were so exhausted from blood loss, but you couldn’t discount the fact that you’d slept in a bed that wasn’t a crappy motel bed for the first time in years.
He didn’t need to know that, though.
”I’ll give you a few minutes,” he said as you reached the bathroom. “You should be able to hold on to the counter to get around in there. There’s extra toothbrushes and toiletries under the sink. When you’re done, I’ll help you to the kitchen. Dean’s making breakfast,” he finished with a smile.
You raised an eyebrow at him.
“What?” he asked, confused by your look.
”Why are you being so nice to me?” you asked, your glare unwavering.
”My brother and I have had to patch ourselves up more times than I can count. I’m sure you have, too. It wasn’t until we moved in here that we were really able to do a better job and heal more efficiently. If I can help someone else do that, then that’s what I’m going to do,” he said with a shrug. He turned and walked down the hall to give you privacy.
You rolled his words around in your head. It all sounded great, but you couldn’t help but wonder when the other shoe would drop.
There was always another shoe.
Tumblr media
Sam
Sam helped you ease down onto the bench at the kitchen table before turning to get you a mug of coffee. You nodded in thanks, sipping the steaming liquid right away.
”Eggs and bacon,” Dean said gruffly, setting a plate down in front of you. Sam could practically see you drooling. You dug in after muttering a quiet ‘thanks.’
The three of you ate in silence for a while. Sam spoke up first, though, his curiosity getting the better of him.
”So, Y/N, been hunting since you were fourteen? How’d you get into the life?” He knew it was a risky question. Getting into hunting was almost always brought on by tragedy.
“Why don’t you tell me yours, and we’ll see if I wanna tell you mine,” you said, almost as a challenge.
Everything that had happened to the Winchesters never really got easier to talk about. He wasn’t going to back down, though.
“Our mom was killed by a demon when I was a baby. He bled in my mouth and turned me into a psychic freak. Our dad hunted him until the day he died. We grew up hunting, and I left to go to school. Came back, though, when the demon that killed our mom killed my girlfriend.”
He watched as your mouth opened and closed several times.
“Geez, Sammy, don’t sugarcoat it or anything,” Dean said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
Sam shrugged. It was the truth, and he felt like you weren’t really one to beat around the bush anyway.
”Sorry,” you said quietly, but with sincerity in your eyes. You paused for a moment, and Sam wasn’t sure if he’d made you uncomfortable.
“Did you catch the bastard?” you asked finally.
Sam laughed humorlessly. “Yeah. Dean shot him between the eyes with the Colt,” he said, nudging his brother with his elbow. You nodded, seemingly slightly impressed.
”So?” Sam urged, not willing to let it go. Usually he was much more sensitive with people. He wasn’t sure what had gotten into him.
You sighed. “Parents were killed by a werewolf while I was at a friend’s house. Came home to their bodies and a hunter in the process of killing the wolf. He explained everything to me, and that’s how I ended up in the life.”
”Wow. Sorry to hear that, Y/N.” Sam said, his heart breaking to think of teenager-you losing everything like that.
“Yeah, well, my parents were never really around anyway,” you said, not looking at either Winchester. “High-powered-business-types, you know?”
Sam nodded. “Still, couldn’t be easy, being on your own so young.”
”I was always on my own, Sam. My parents dying didn’t change much.” Sam could hear the aching in your voice, even if you did try to disguise it.
You cleared your throat. “Thanks for breakfast. I’ll think I’ll be fine tomorrow. I’ll head out then.”
”There’s no rush, Y/N,” Sam said. It was true, they had plenty of space in the bunker. Sam didn’t want you to leave regardless, though. He wanted to get to know you better.
”Like I said, Sam. I’ve always been on my own.” You stood up slowly and Sam stood too, ready to help you. You held out a hand to stop him, though, and took a few wobbly steps before you started down the hall to your room alone.
Sam bit the inside of his cheek as you disappeared down the hall.
“Well, shit, Sammy. What’re you gonna do now?” Dean asked, not even bothering to hide his amusement. Of course he could tell Sam didn’t want you to go. He knew everything about Sam.
He didn’t respond, though, turning and heading to his own room instead. He’d think of some way to get you to open up—some way to get you to consider staying longer.

After me saying "Been crunching numbers, looking at rent, looking at mortgages, looking at our current monthly expenses and I'd need to earn about $24/hr full time just to be able to afford to pay rent/mortgage, bills, owning a car, and food with nothing left. NO BODY'S PAYING THAT MUCH." on facebook, one of my old high school friends tried to encourage me by saying that I'd qualify for programs like SNAP and might qualify for Section8 housing and if I'm earning $15/hr and work 40 hrs a week no, I wouldn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In my state:
LIHTC cutoff is $14k/year
SNAP is $19,578
Section 8 housing cutoff is $29,150 for one person and $33,300 for two, and we'd have 2 adults being myself and my son. I don't know if Son will be able to work since he does have some trouble with being interrupted or being told to do something he doesn't want to do, but a the same time I don't know if he'll qualify for disability due to autism because he's low support needs. The single apartment complex that accepts Section 8 is for elders and full, anyway.
Despite being too much to qualify for assistance, it's still not enough to survive on because our current expenses wouldn't change much considering That Guy doesn't eat at home mostly (he barely eats at all, really) so the grocery bill is mostly Son and me, and has no creative hobbies that cost money outside of the occasional pricey LEGO set and a $60 video game lasts him a few months so I picked an average for the credit card bill:
Mortgage: $2000/mo (1 bedroom apartment rent averages $1500/mo while the least expensive house on the market right now says to expect to pay $2k)
Water: $60
Power: $130
Internet: $90
Phone: $170
Propane: $280
He pays for everything like car-gas, groceries, toiletries, all my pony salon supplies, etc. on his credit card and that averages $1700/mo.
Our car is paid off so we don't have car payments but I would have car payments. No idea how much that would be.
That doesn't include the auto insurance because he pays that direct-pay with the bank, which is $78/mo for 3 drivers on a single sedan.
$54,096/year. He does NOT pay for my dolls other than the occasional cheap playline doll.
What of that could we do without?
We don't go on day trips, go on vacation, buy new clothes when our clothes wear out and if we do it's thrifted or from the discount store (like Goodwill, TJMaxx, Marshall's, or Gabe's), don't go to the salon or barber, eat Taco Bell once a week for $25 and rarely go anywhere else, I don't get my nails done, do them myself, or wear makeup which is a huge expense, don't buy expensive electronics or home theater equipment, don't buy home decor, don't pay for repairs, have low-end cheap computers, wait for our phones to no longer be supported before upgrading, wait for ANYTHING to break before replacing it...

Making the most of a short trip: Weekend getaways
Short trips are a great way to take a break from the daily grind and rejuvenate yourself. A weekend getaway can help you disconnect from work and routine, explore new places, and create memories that last a lifetime. But, how do you make the most of a short trip? How do you plan, pack, and execute a weekend getaway that meets your expectations?
In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about making the most of a short trip.
Tumblr media
Choosing a destination
The first step to making the most of a weekend getaway is choosing the right destination. Since you only have a limited amount of time, it is important to choose a destination that is easy to reach and has plenty of activities to offer. Look for destinations that are within driving distance or a short flight away. You can also consider nearby cities or towns that you haven't explored yet.
Planning the trip
Once you have chosen a destination, it is time to plan your trip. Start by booking your accommodation and transportation. Look for deals and discounts to save money on your trip. Next, create an itinerary that includes the activities you want to do and the places you want to visit. Make sure to leave some free time for relaxation and unexpected activities.
Packing for a weekend getaway
When it comes to packing for a weekend getaway, less is more. You don't want to be lugging around a heavy suitcase, so stick to the essentials. Pack versatile clothing items that can be mixed and matched, and bring only the toiletries and gadgets you need. Make a packing list to ensure you don't forget anything important.
Tips for a stress-free trip
To make the most of your short trip, it is important to stay stress-free. Start by arriving at the airport or station early to avoid rushing. Stay organized by keeping your documents and belongings in one place. Make sure to get enough sleep and stay hydrated. Don't forget to take breaks and rest when needed.
Making the most of your time
Since you only have a limited amount of time on your weekend getaway, it is important to make the most of every moment. Prioritize the activities you want to do and the places you want to visit. Take advantage of early morning and late evening hours when the crowds are thinner. Consider booking tours or activities in advance to save time.
Exploring the destination
Exploring the destination is one of the most exciting parts of a weekend getaway. Take a walking tour, rent a bike, or explore the city on your own. Look for local attractions, museums, and landmarks. Don't forget to take pictures and document your trip.
Trying local cuisine
Trying local cuisine is a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Look for restaurants and cafes that offer traditional dishes. Ask locals for recommendations and try something new.
Relaxing and unwinding
While it is important to make the most of your time on a weekend getaway, it is also important to relax and unwind. Find a quiet spot to read a book, take a yoga class, or spend some time at the spa. Use this time to disconnect from work and routine and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Safety and security
Safety and security are important considerations when traveling, even on a short trip. Make sure to keep your belongings secure and be aware of your surroundings. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash and valuables. Use reputable transportation and accommodation providers, and avoid walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas.
Saving money on a weekend getaway
A weekend getaway doesn't have to break the bank. Look for deals and discounts on accommodation and transportation. Consider traveling during the off-season or booking last-minute deals. You can also save money by eating at local cafes and restaurants instead of expensive tourist spots.
Conclusion
In conclusion, a weekend getaway can be a great way to recharge your batteries and explore new places. By choosing the right destination, planning ahead, and packing smart, you can make the most of your short trip. Remember to prioritize your activities, stay organized, and take some time to relax and unwind. Learn more travel blog tips here.

Adding on to this since my mother was part of the OEM for the 2013 floods in CO(it broke 1000 year records.)
The current can overpower and sweep people and whole ass cars down the road at even the depth of six inches. You can drown in two inches. Debris will be in the water and can damage you severely if you are caught in it. Do not drive. Do not wade.
Keep go bags in case of evacuation. Pack non perishables- granola bars, protien bars, little baggies on protien powder. Extra underwear and socks. Put your legal documents here. Medications. Any medical device support you would need in severe cases. Toiletries. Any 'cash stash' or 'walking money' you might have in your home. Make sure you know where your charger is for a quick grab. If you have emergency kits with mylar blankets. Flashlights. Keep your bag and your dirty laundry hamper together, so you know you have inseason clothing that fits properly. Shit can get washed.
Do not let outside pets outside without a leash. If you need to evacuate, you need to know where they are. People have died trying to find pets, and I would too, if mine were missing. Don't put yourself in that situation.
Most OEM's will have a guide on this stuff. Google your state's Office of Emergency Management. 411 is a national directory number that can tell you where animal shelters/human shelters/Red Cross food banks/ect are located. It can also direct you to long term recovery resources.
If you aren't in the flood area: consider donating supplies like food, clothing, blankets, toiletries, even blood. If you host via Airbnb, they have a non-profit to help displaced families find free or discounted housing. If you don't host through airbnb regularly, you can still sign up to be an emergency only host.
https://www.airbnb.co.in/resources/hosting-homes/a/how-you-can-support-emergency-stays-in-times-of-crisis-611
The recovery after natural disasters can be more difficult than the natural disaster itself. These people will have trauma related to it. The 2013 floods took over five years to fully recover from. It will be a long process, a godawful fight with insurance, and then all the rest of it. It is so, so easy to feel like there is no hope. If you are affected by a disaster, please know that the fight will get easier, it will. If you aren't affected, try to help. Understand what you can and sympathize. Accept their negative outlook and become a pillar they can lean on, without being so positive that you invalidate their trauma.
TLDR: Flood tips for survivors and concerned parties. I've seen too much to not give the advice I can.
My friends who have never experienced flooding, and who are about to deal with it from this storm, please remember:
1. NO. YOU CANNOT MAKE IT THROUGH THAT WATER ON THE ROAD. I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU'RE DRIVING. TURN. AROUND.
2. DO NOT GO WADING THROUGH THE WATER. EVEN IF YOU JUST WANT TO SEE HOW DEEP IT IS. THAT. WATER. IS. CONTAMINATED.
3. IT IS CALLED FLASH FLOODING FOR A REASON. THE WATER RISES AND SURGES IN A FLASH. STAY. HOME.
4. If you're at risk of flooding, raise up any of your belongings now. Put the legs of tall things in buckets. Know where your important documents are.
5. Stay safe.

Went to the 24…hour grocery store at 2 a.m. last night. The place was hauntingly empty, aisles stretching into dimness, like a labyrinth of ordinary human survival…canned beans, off…brand snacks, discount toiletries. Walking through that silence felt… strange. No bustling crowds, no rush, just me and the fluorescent buzz of the overhead lights. It's odd, seeing a world that never stops running on autopilot, even when no one's there to fuel it. I wandered around for a while, picked up some energy drinks and chips, and ended up in the toy aisle out of sheer boredom. I was surrounded by plastic heroes and villains, painted smiles and weapons in miniature, just waiting to be unboxed. There was something about those toys, how they're frozen in their own stories with no choice but to be what they are. It's like looking in a cracked mirror…wondering if I've been boxed into a role, too.

BJ's Wholesale Club Reviews - What Is BJ's Wholesale Club Like and Is It Legit?
Tumblr media
With today’s rising costs, everyone’s looking for ways to save a buck—or a few. BJ’s Wholesale Club is one of the popular wholesale clubs known for delivering substantial savings on a wide array of products. But what makes BJ’s different from other wholesale stores? That’s where the BJ's Wholesale Club Membership Perks come in. Designed to offer members exclusive deals on groceries, household items, gas, and even travel, BJ’s membership aims to give shoppers value beyond a typical retail store. In this review, let’s take a deep dive into BJ’s membership perks, the types of deals you can find, and whether this membership lives up to the hype.
Key Benefits of BJ's Wholesale Club Membership Perks
BJ’s membership is designed with savings in mind, but that’s just the beginning. From access to discounted products to unique cardholder perks, here’s a breakdown of some of the most attractive features that BJ’s offers.
1. Access to Exclusive Discounts and Coupons
One major highlight of BJ's Wholesale Club Membership Perks is access to exclusive discounts and manufacturer coupons. Members can save on a wide variety of products, including:
Groceries and household supplies
Fresh produce, meat, and dairy
Seasonal items
Home goods and electronics
Since BJ's allows you to stack manufacturers’ coupons on top of their discounts, the savings can add up quickly. Plus, their rotating deals give members a chance to try new items or stock up on favorites for less.
2. Savings on Fuel
Let’s be honest—fuel costs are a big expense these days. BJ’s Fuel Saver Program offers members an easy way to save every time they fill up. Here’s how it works:
For each item purchased from BJ’s Fuel Saver Program list, members get 10 cents off per gallon.
BJ’s gas stations typically offer prices that are already a few cents lower than most local stations.
These fuel savings are perfect for members who regularly shop at BJ’s and can make a noticeable difference in monthly fuel costs.
3. Specialty Products Beyond Groceries
Many members are surprised by the variety BJ’s Wholesale Club has to offer. Beyond groceries and household items, they also have:
Travel packages and vacation deals
Electronics, like TVs and laptops, often with steep discounts
Car maintenance services and tires
Prescription discounts
These specialty items provide more ways for members to save, turning BJ’s into a one-stop shop for major purchases.
4. Convenient Shopping Options
BJ’s doesn’t just offer savings in-store. They make shopping simple and accessible with services like:
Curbside pickup: Perfect for days when you’re short on time.
Same-day delivery: Available for groceries and essentials.
In-store pick-up: Order online and pick up at a nearby club location.
These options make BJ’s shopping experience easy, fast, and tailored to fit members' needs, making it a valuable perk.
5. BJ’s Perks Rewards Mastercard
The BJ’s Perks Rewards Mastercard provides additional savings with cashback rewards on all purchases. Some key benefits include:
5% cashback on most BJ’s purchases
2% cashback on dining and non-BJ’s gas stations
1% cashback on all other purchases
With frequent use, members can quickly offset the cost of their membership, making the BJ’s Wholesale Club Membership Perks even more valuable.
Shopping Strategies to Maximize BJ's Wholesale Club Membership Perks
While BJ’s offers a lot of value, it’s all about strategy to get the most out of your membership. Here are some tips to maximize your savings:
Stick to Non-Perishable Items
Since BJ’s products come in bulk, it’s best to prioritize items with a long shelf life, such as canned goods, toiletries, and paper products. Buying perishable items like fresh produce in bulk can sometimes lead to waste, so it’s smart to shop strategically and avoid overbuying.
Take Advantage of Online Deals
BJ’s online store often features exclusive discounts, and by checking these offers before visiting, members can make their trips even more worthwhile...

Compare Prices Before You Buy
While BJ’s generally offers great prices, it's always smart to compare with local retailers, especially during seasonal sales. Sometimes, a local grocery or hardware store may offer a lower price on certain items.
Bring a Shopping List
With so much on offer, it’s easy to overspend. A list helps members stay focused, avoid impulse purchases, and truly benefit from the BJ’s Wholesale Club Membership Perks.
Common Questions About BJ's Wholesale Club Membership Perks
1. What’s the cost of a BJ’s membership? BJ’s offers two main membership options: the Inner Circle membership at $55 per year and the Perks Rewards membership at $110 per year. Both provide access to exclusive savings, but the Perks Rewards membership offers cashback benefits as well.
2. Is the BJ’s membership worth it for small households? While the savings can be significant, small households might need to be cautious about bulk purchases, especially with perishable items. However, if they stick to non-perishables and other essentials, they can still benefit from the membership perks.
3. How do the fuel discounts work? For each qualifying item purchased, BJ’s members get 10 cents off per gallon of gas. Members can enjoy additional savings at BJ’s gas stations, which often offer prices below the local average.
4. Can I share my BJ’s membership with others? BJ’s membership benefits can be shared with one household member. Additional add-on memberships are available for an extra fee if needed.
5. Does BJ’s accept coupons? Yes, BJ’s accepts manufacturer coupons, and they allow stacking coupons with their in-store discounts, giving members even more ways to save.
Why BJ’s Wholesale Club Membership Perks Are Worth Considering
BJ's Wholesale Club Membership Perks are ideal for anyone looking to save money on everyday purchases and specialty items. Members not only get access to discounts on groceries and gas but also enjoy perks on travel packages, electronics, and more. For frequent shoppers who love a good deal, BJ’s provides genuine value that extends beyond typical grocery savings.
The perks are especially beneficial for larger households that can efficiently use bulk items. Plus, with flexible shopping options like curbside pickup and online ordering, BJ’s makes it easy to fit membership benefits into a busy lifestyle.
However, BJ’s membership may not be the best fit for everyone. Small households or those far from a BJ’s location might find fewer advantages, especially if they don’t have the storage space for bulk items. But for those who take advantage of the discounts, cashback rewards, and regular shopping, the membership more than covers its cost...

What Is the Difference Between a Standard Hotel Room and a Suite?
Tumblr media
When planning a trip, choosing the right accommodation can significantly impact your travel experience. Whether you’re considering hotel booking in Varanasi for a pilgrimage or a relaxing getaway, understanding the difference between a standard room and a suite can help you make a more informed choice. Here’s a breakdown of what sets these two types of accommodations apart.
1) Size and Layout
The primary difference between a standard hotel room and a suite is the size and layout. A standard hotel room is usually a single room with basic amenities like a bed, TV, and bathroom, intended for shorter stays or travelers who prioritize affordability. In contrast, suites are larger accommodations that often include multiple rooms, such as a separate living area, bedroom, and sometimes even a kitchenette. If you're considering hotel booking in Varanasi for an extended stay or require more space, opting for a suite can offer extra comfort and privacy.
2) Amenities and Services
Standard hotel rooms provide essential amenities, including a bed, TV, Wi-Fi, and basic toiletries. Suites, on the other hand, usually come with enhanced amenities such as more luxurious bedding, upgraded bathrooms, additional TVs, a minibar, and sometimes even access to exclusive services like room service or lounge access. For those using hotel booking agents in Varanasi, discussing these amenities in advance can ensure you find a suite that meets your needs.
3) Privacy and Comfort
Suites are designed with privacy in mind, making them ideal for families, business travelers, or those looking to entertain guests during their stay. With separate areas for sleeping and lounging, suites allow guests to relax or work without disturbing others. Standard rooms, while comfortable, offer limited space, so they’re best suited for solo travelers or couples without specific space requirements. If you’re traveling with family or friends, a suite might be a better option to ensure everyone’s comfort.
4) Cost Differences
Naturally, suites tend to be more expensive than standard rooms due to the added space, amenities, and services. However, if you're booking through reliable hotel booking agents in Varanasi, they might be able to secure discounts or package deals that make suites more affordable. In certain seasons, suites may even be offered at competitive rates, especially if booked in advance.
5) Who Should Choose Which?
For travelers seeking an economical and straightforward stay, a standard room provides all essential amenities. However, for families, groups, or business travelers needing extra space and comfort, a suite can be worth the investment.
In summary, the choice between a standard room and a suite comes down to budget, travel needs, and the level of comfort you desire. Whether you’re booking directly or through hotel booking agents in Varanasi, understanding these differences can help ensure a stay that meets all your expectations.

I gotta think for real about what we have room for to bring to portland. I mean we're getting rid of all the furniture for sure, but to pack two people + a guinea pig's entire life into a hatchback is still a task. I think we can bring all the camping stuff and the collapsible fishing poles, obviously clothes and toiletries, and honestly I think we should bring the spices. I have like every spice/seasoning and I'm tired of buying new ones. I feel like I can dump all the other kitchen stuff. Maybe some cleaning supplies? May as well just jam as much as we can in the car. The bikes are going on the bike rack which goes into the tow hitch. My husband's like LOL we can just stay at a KOA every night along the way and use the tent. Like hun pootnip is coming and you love taking a shower every 12 hours. Maybe some nights. Oh just thinking about things we need to get a roll of duct tape. We're also getting new drivers licenses so we can keep one Florida license so we can still get Florida resident Disney discounts lol. We should also get dental and eye appointments. We'll probably leave like mid December. Plus that's good because hopefully everyone will have settled down after whatever happens in the election.
