Top Disaster Tourism Sites
Have you ever heard about disaster tourism destinations? I think this phrase is less familiar to the common people or that they are not much interested in this scenario.
Many people are afraid of visiting places that are disastrous as they feel it can cause their lives. But the reality is something different as getting to know these places will help you in exploring the toughest places on Earth. This will certainly be a great addition to any traveler. Are you simply confused on what I am saying? I can take you to places that are very close to Disaster Tourism.
Let’s discuss some of the hidden factors of some mysterious spots which appear in front of us:
1) Mount Fuji Volcano, Japan
Mt Fuji, one of the most precious and sacred places belong to Japanese culture. From many resources, I have learned about this mountain and the eruption that occurred in the year 1707. While conquering the summit of this sacred mountain, I never felt that I’m exploring a place that witnessed a huge environmental disaster. Nothing can compete with its Panoramic beauty. More than that, its a place for people who are adventure junkies.
2) Auschwitz Concentration camp, Germany
Auschwitz Nazi Concentration Camp is the place that was always spotted as the dark center of World War II. During the Second World War, this concentration camp witnessed the ever pathetic brutality and cruelty towards the human race. You can trace the brutal treatment of humanity at Auschwitz from the historical records and the works of literature. The authorities have made the entire complex including the huts, (where prisoners were kept) keeping it open for all travelers. Visit this camp to get to know more about the value of humanity.
3) Killing Fields, Cambodia
The people of Cambodia can’t forget the incident as their ancestors faced the act of mass killing during the ruling time of Maoist Khmer. This continued from the year 19 until 1978 when 20% of the Cambodian population was brutally murdered by him due to his political involvement. The Killing Field remains as a reminiscent spot representing the mass massacre of innocent people. A visit to this place will help you to have an overlook into the political scenarios that molded the people of Cambodia. Also, it stands as a symbol of the struggle of survival of the Cambodian people.
4) Hiroshima Peace Memorial, Japan
In the year 1945, the Japanese city Hiroshima witnessed the ever pathetic treatment of humanity, the Atomic Bomb Drop. This bomb explosion wiped out almost everything including living and non-living things from the city of Hiroshima. The government and people of Hiroshima stood together and worked hard to come out of the after effects of this man-made destruction. A visit to this peace memorial will help you to understand the value of all living things and the after effects of misusing the power of human innovations.
5) Chernobyl, Ukraine
The Chernobyl nuclear power plant located in Ukraine witnessed a disaster in 1986. It was the worst nuclear accident that occurred in history that exploded through Reactor 4 of the power plant. The explosion spread around the area of 30 kilometers around the plant and the fire generated updrafts for about nine days. In terms of cost and casualties, Chernobyl accident is one among the nuclear energy accidents which have been classified as a Level 7 event as per the International Nuclear Event Scale. This noted dark tourism destination has been visited by 36,000 people in the year 2016.
6) Bermuda Triangle
Bermuda Triangle or the Devil’s Triangle is situated in the North Atlantic Ocean and this place still remains as a mysterious destination to the world. Due to unknown reasons, many ships and airplanes have been disappeared in this region. Investigations failed to find out the exact reason behind these disappearances. Also, we are not able to find remains of these missing cases and accidents. People believe that it may be due to geographical or weather features, but the exact reason is unknown even after several investigations. This part of the ocean is considered as one of the heaviest transportation regions of the world. Many of the commercial and small boats pass through the ship lines on a daily basis. Also, private, military and passenger airlines move across this region.
More than the entertainment trips, disaster tourism guides us to understand the dark history that affected people and the entire universe since it happened. But these locations stand as a lesson to enlighten the world for the positive well being of the people and nature.

lovely @raxeriaaa tagged me to do this and it only took me three days of public transportation and lunch breaks to complete 😌
Have you had a good day so far today?: Well I had a remarkably nice hug earlier but soon after went to use the bathroom at work and a cockroach was hidden on the side of the toilet bowl so my ptsd has leveled up. I typed this like three days ago but yeah that was quite a morning
What’s something you wish you could tell your younger self?: It gets so much better and there’s things you will come to understand and find out that will make it all make sense. Drinking never starts being quite as fun as you imagine it’ll be. Also the gap between your front teeth is cute it turns out.
A song people maybe wouldn’t expect you to like but you do?: I don’t really generally believe in guilty pleasures as a concept but then I remember I liked MSI in high school and never stopped.
Describe your go to pair of shoes.: I’m not much of a shoe person I have a pair of black suede slides that I like a lot and wear with bad socks and big loose pants, or I have a pair of army green unisex sneakers that I wear 85% of the time. Memory forms soles because I am rickety and hurty. Best shoes. Also some ugly work sketchers. That ends the tour. UPDATE: my birthday was yesterday and my best friend got me a pair of fleece lined crocs. They’re like walking on tacky clouds. Knees thrilled. I spent all last evening looking at the charms people stick into the holes. These shoes are chaotic good.
Do you have a picture/poster in your room? What of?: I have a few paintings by my sibling @disastertourism in there - they are colorful and beautiful and spiritual and they make me happy!! Also a collage my grandma made me when I was a toddler from family photos called “tessa’s dream” that depicts me crawling around a watercolor landscape she made with various family members taking walks or eating dinner or playing cello interspersed throughout. It is wonderful
What’s your favourite software?: I’m too pretty for this question. Jk it’s the sims 1.
Do you own nail polish/fave colour of nail polish?: I used to get gel & acrylics but since the whole pandemic thing hit I’ve been doing my own gel polish at home. I’ve got dark red and dark teal :)
Favourite herb/spice?: cilantro and cinnamon respectively but not conjointly
Do/can you lucid dream?: I did frequently as a child and it was so intense and special. I have sporadically in adulthood but I smoke too much loud to remember my dreams now mostly rip.
Summer or Winter?: I’m anemic
If you could relive a day of your life, would you?: Riding on Shaela’s childhood nostalgia I loved reading that <3 I would be seven or eight years old in my late grandparents house on a spring day so I could play in their big yard with gardens and hiding spots. It was full of old art from all over the world, a library, a huge speaker system and record player, a tv with upholstered speakers and dials, globes, the earlier huger beiger home computers of the 90s (DOS games!), weird old designer clothes and jewelry and perfume, my grandpas sawdusty workshop. My grandparents were sweet and funny and they taught me things and they had fig newtons.
Favourite historical era?: Whatever Ken Burns thinks I should know
A common misunderstanding people have of you: dude I feel like I’m so on the surface at all times it’d be hard to misconceive me but I guess if people do that’s their world
I’m tagging @disastertourism @tonguesofsilence @ahhh-xian <3 and everyone who wants to

Photo by @gerdludwig | In 2011, the Ukrainian government legalized tourism within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, and it quickly became a disaster tourism destination. One of the most riveting attractions is the ghost town of Pripyat, where dolls are scattered in abandoned kindergartens such as this one, and gas masks litter floors. Much of what is on display in Pripyat today was arranged by guides and tourists alike, made to be photographed by countless cameras and phones. This weekend, I am heading off to the opening of my exhibit, “The Long Shadow of Chernobyl” at the ROSPHOTO state photo museum in Saint Petersburg, which will show over 100 of my photographs from the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. The opening coincides with much renewed interest in the accident after the Chernobyl miniseries on HBO, which was noticed in Russia as well. The opening of the exhibit will be on Tuesday, August 6 at 6pm at the ROSPHOTO state photo museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. @natgeo @natgeoimagecollection #disastertourism #Chernobyl #Pripyat #nuclear https://ift.tt/2Kb2V7k

/Don't call ['em] sir, call ['em] sir-vivors. / /Here's just a sneak peak. StudioBe in NOLA humbles you. Their engagement into New Orleans, Black culture, our activism and what's it's been through is horribly beautiful in this place. There was interactive pieces and spaces to make your own and the entire experience is chilling. If you have a chance you shouldn't hesitate to expand your exposure. Learned something about myself. #ProjectBe #StudioBe #NOLA #Artivism #DisasterTourism #HANO (at New Orleans, Louisiana)
