Ok, I just need to say it: FUCK CANCEL CULTURE

You heard me! In the age of the Internet it’s so easy to fake screen shots and photoshop images and turn everything into a “he said/she said” debate. Should people be listened to? Yes! But should everything negative anyone says immediately be taken at face value and accepted as truth?

NO!

Listen to both sides, look at as many facts as can be produced, and follow the innocent until proven guilty model please. I am so tired of seeing people’s lives destroyed by a couple of claims which, a month or two later, turn out to be false. And if you are optimistic, if you think that that “people will listen when the truth comes out and everything will be fine again!” You are dead wrong.

These types of accusations, even if proven false, can irreparably damage a persons life. Drama trends, less interesting facts are left by the wayside

I’m not even going to start on how digging up an embarrassing video or post someone made years ago can also be used as solid grounds for cancelling. That’s a whole other brand of bullshit I don’t want to get into right now

Just...please....be smart, be kind, and be respectful. Don’t immediately jump on the drama train, try and stay objective, listen to both sides and think critically before casting judgement.

Imagine your OTP, where Person A is constantly stressed and has a hard time expressing their emotion, and whenever they’re with Person B they get really tired and just want to curl up and sleep

Person B might be worried that “oh no they don’t want to spend any time with me they always fall asleep whenever we hang out/cuddle/anything” but really it’s just that Person A feels so relaxed and safe with Person B that their body’s natural reaction is to curl up in Person B’s arms and finally get some rest

Am I the only one who looks at “Monkie Kid” and wonders what business it has being this good?

Like, it’s a story about vaguely lego-themed characters, and starring an anxiety-riddled, ADHD, Sunshine Boi(TM) learning to be an allegorical, super-powered monkey.    It *should* be a shoddily produced piece of derivative trash    that cycles around the tired, old fart jokes and girl-chasing jokes. And yet, *everything about it* is lovingly rendered? Surprisingly clever and intellectual? Obviously a passion piece for everyone involved with making it?

The animation and music are superb and seamless. The characterization and plot development,    while being zany and whimsical, are still    psychologically coherent ... and realistically driven. The writing is scintillating, the dialogue hilarious,    and the underlying drama-angst really compelling.

A lot is made, and rightly so, of later moments in the series.    Their sometimes-teasing but always affectionate banter,    the easy encouragement and praise they give each other,    the physical proximity they always maintain       (pretty much always next to one another, gently touching,        sleeping side by side, the frequent hand holding),    the soft appellations between each other like pet names,    the times Sam contemplates how beautiful Frodo is,    or literally says “I love him”, or is described as fighting    like an animal defending its mate to protect Frodo,    how they live together in Bag End after returning home ...

But there are two moments specifically before they even leave the Shire that I rediscovered recently. And both are just so ...

My work had cut my hours down to one day a week, and for a little while I had enough saved up to survive and get groceries while my boyfriend earned most of the money and covered what my weak paycheck and savings could not- but we are a full week away from any pay check, and we don’t have enough for bills and groceries. If anyone could send even five dollars- I could buy 4 packs of noodles from a dollar store to survive off of until we make it to payday. I feel like when Rick met Ford he didn’t immediately know he had a twin, because Ford had cut his loses of Stan. So when Rick comes to visit Ford, and meets stan, hes going to be confused. An Introduction For the Uninitiated

Since I have suckered a number of friends into reading this, most of whom aren’t familiar with the source material, it behooves me to provide a summary.

What’s all this, then?

This is fan fiction written by yours truly, based on the Gravity Falls Dating Sim, a fanmade game based in turn on the Gravity Falls animated TV series.

I realize that’s a lot of nested statements. Let me explain.

What’s fan fiction?

Fan fiction is written by fans about stories or shows they’re passionate about. Fanfic expands upon the lore, stories and characters within an already established fictional universe. 

What’s a dating sim?

Basically, a choose-your-own-adventure story whose ending may differ depending on the choices made. Given that it’s a dating sim, it’s usually a romantic adventure whose objective is to win the heart of one of the characters. In the Gravity Falls Dating Sim, the player has the option to pursue either Stan or Ford. More on those two later.

What’s Gravity Falls?

Gravity Falls is a now-complete animated series that aired on one of the Disney channels between 2012 and 2016. The series chronicles the summertime adventures of the Pines family, consisting of twelve-year-old twins Dipper and Mabel and their great-uncle Stan, in the weird little town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. 

Who the heck are these people?

Spoilers everywhere, folks, don’t read if you’re determined to watch your way through twenty hours of the series. Tiny, tiny summary:

Mabel Pines is five minutes older than her brother. She is wildly creative, outgoing, a little boy-crazy, and crafty as hell in both senses of the word. Somewhere along the line, Mabel decided that she was going to add ‘expert matchmaker’ to her long list of skills. At the time of this story, Mabel and Dipper are thirteen.

Dipper Pines is fascinated by the paranormal, infinitely curious, and a bit of a skeptic. Lucky for him that Gravity Falls is actually full of paranormal stuff. Dipper is also just trying to survive puberty, with all its attendant growing pains, embarrassing crushes and weird sweaty moments.

Stan Pines is a semi-retired con man who ran the Mystery Shack, a tourist trap full of cheesy taxidermied ‘anomalies’, for thirty years. The business served as a front for Stan’s real project, rebuilding the interdimensional portal in the basement. Stan is a champion cheapskate who never got any traction with his get-rich-quick schemes until he landed in Gravity Falls and found sufficient motivation to dedicate himself to a lifetime project - retrieving his brother from dimensional exile. 

Ford Pines is Stan’s twin brother. He’s the one who built the portal, with the help of a manipulative jerkwad of an interdimensional dream demon who wanted to invade, and destroy, Earth’s dimension. Ford has twelve doctorates, and will probably not let you forget it. He also has twelve fingers, a rare case of fully functional polydactyly. So far as Ford is concerned, that makes him an anomaly, something that’s informed his entire life. 

Wait, Ford? I thought this was about the younger twins and their great-uncle Stan.

Ford shows up in the last eight episodes or so of the series, but his absence and the information he left behind informs a lot of the plot leading up to that point. 

Okay, that’s the main group. Who the hell is Clary?

Clary is an original character, an OC. She’s all mine. The game from which this is derived is set up so that the protagonist, the main character from whose perspective the game is played, is very open-ended and loosely defined; the player is supposed to fill in the details of that character’s personality and reactions through their game choices and their own imagination. This entire story is me filling in those details and embellishing around the central plotline of the game, from Stan’s perspective.

Essentially, this is Stanley Pines playing his way through the Gravity Falls Dating Sim, and dealing with the consequences of his choices.

Part I

01.when the virtual reality shut down, what was your muse’s reaction ? how did they handle the dark period ? 

Dipper’s reaction was basically to panic for a while until he started formulating plans about what to do and how to go about fixing whatever happened. 

02. what was their reaction to finding out they were fiction ?how did they feel about the idea of becoming real ? 

Dipper’s reaction to finding out he was fiction was ultimately to stop talking. He shut down and didn’t know what to do. The idea of becoming real is incredibly pleasing to him. 

03. before the island, where did they live ? what was their reset life like ? what drew them to the island ?

Before the island, Dipper lived in Oregon with his uncle. He got to explore to his hearts content. He saw all sorts of strange things there

their reset life should be at least inspired by their canon one but any significant differences you wanna give to their backstory can be chalked up to plot twists implemented by the creators ( explained more in question #4 )

the creators used the trackers to get characters here, yes, but they did that by creating a reason for the character to pick up and move there. what was that reason ?

04. what are some of the events, twists, or turns that the fans voted on ?

The few things the fans voted on was making Dipper a trans male to have more LGBT+ representation in the media. They also voted for him to stay with his Uncle in Oregon instead of going back to California with his sister.

05. does your character have any secrets ( big or small ) that they think are private when in reality they were broadcasted live to the whole world ?

Dipper keeps being trans to himself, not telling anybody about it unless he trusts them completely, which isn’t many people as he finds it hard to trust new people.

06. what are the major similarities between the character’s canon life & their reset life ? what about the differences ?

Today is the anniversary of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (ROTTMNT if you want to shorten it up a bit)! It’s genuinely one of my absolute favorite shows!
