Have gravity falls on the brain again, but imagine how fun a natm and gravity falls crossover could be
An older dipper and Mabel visiting or even staying in NY for a bit and ending up at the natural history museum and finding out about the secret of the tablet
Maybe something from gravity falls got transported there to be displayed, maybe even ford and Stan getting to make an appearance?
There’s also the alternate scenario of Larry, maybe needing to get away from New York and his teaching job for a bit, and taking a trip and somehow ending up in gravity falls and getting wrapped up in their weirdness

oh i am dying to hear your gravityfallsnatural thoughts and who is who (gruncle bobby???)
THANK U FOR LETTING ME UNLEASH THE FLOODGATES OK SO this got long i’m sorry
gravityfallsnatural.....
there’s the obvious one where sam and dean are dipper and mabel staying with their weird uncle bobby for the summer
i actually don’t have many ideas for this one it’s just cute :)
the shows are pretty similar so i don’t think a lot would change for this one? except ofc for the fact that sam and dean are 12 not 30
very much preseries stuff, sam and dean are clearly traumatized from john and bobby is reluctant to take care of them at first but they’re sweet kids and they soften their uncle bobby’s stone cold heart
before leaving for their trip, sam stole one of johns mysterious journals that he never let sam and dean touch (it’s one from like 15 years ago so he doesn’t realize it’s missing okay just go with it for the plot) and it’s the one that documents his experience with gravity falls
this is the journal they use to solve the mysteries of the town instead of journal #3 bc that one comes in later.. 😏
then there’s the other one where spn x gravity falls meets like. (s4ish)
probably in the headhunters episode because spn and gf both have an evil wax museum ep so it’s like
sam and dean are hunting the wax museum that comes to life in nowhereville oregon and dipper and mabel drag themselves along with them even though they try to keep the kids out of it
dipper and sam connect instantly because they’re so similar to each other but not so much dipper and dean bc dipper reminds dean too much of the innocent kid he wishes he could’ve been
however dean and mabel get along surprisingly well even though sam is mabels favorite
(sam lets her put clips in his hair)
anyway after the hunt they plan to leave but end up getting caught up in the town after hearing news about gideon, who claims to be a psychic faith healer but is actually working with bill cipher in trade to help bill start the apocalypse somehow
then castiel shows up and he’s like “the angels have been keeping tabs on this town for a while now due to the absurd number of anomalies that occur. however, now there’s something cosmic happening right as we speak” SO it’s like kripke apocalypse kind of but in oregon
grunkle stan thinks cas is really funny and takes him gambling
AND FINALLY MY FAV AU which technically is a sequel to the first one w grunkle bobby. (season 9ish)
it’s like ~20-25 years into the future and deans taken over the shack. claire and jack are the siblings that end up getting sent to stay with him for the summer
(btw i’m bending some ages here but the other teenagers like kevin, kaia, ben, krissy, patience, alex, etc play the roles of wendy, her friends, candy, grenda) (kevin is wendy)
claire and jack havent met before this! they’re both “troubled” kids from different sides of the family. jack is 14 and claire is 16
nobody is particularly happy about the situation at first. their uncle dean is cranky, closed off, and is not in any way fit to take care of two teenagers. claire thinks of the entire thing as some sort of alternative punishment instead of being sent to juvenile detention and jack is bummed that his entire summer is gonna be spent with two mopes when he was looking forward to making memories with his new family members
then claire finds journal number three in the forest and Claire and Jack’s Mystery Solving begins
cas is human at this point and he’s the shack’s handyman (like soos but he’s. not soos at all do u understand what i mean)
him and dean aren’t together yet but they’re very much pining and they do get together by the end of it
claire and jack love cas and cas loves them! he’s kind of awkward but doesn’t have many social hang ups which jack appreciates, and claire doesn’t like him at first but they end up connecting over the course of the story because cas is the only one who will admit to her that she’s right about the supernatural phenomenons in gravity falls
(OK SKIPPING OVER SO MUCH BC I COULD LITERALLY WRITE A NOVEL ON THIS BUT I WONT FOR YOUR SAKE)
ok and SAM. sam is a combination of mcgucket and ford right
basically he created the memory removing contraption to cope with his season 7 hell trauma and ends up forming the society of the blind eye in order to help keep people in gravity falls oblivious to the pain of the real world
during this time he gets really into discovering where monsters come from (bc eve doesn’t exist in this au i guess)
he finds out that they escape through a rift to an alternate reality and starts to create a machine in order to close that rift (think s8 closing the gates of hell trials type of thing)
following gf canon, he ends up getting stuck in the alternate reality as the rift closes and dean dedicates the next couple of decades trying to get him back. he eventually gets him back around the same events of s2 beginning (i haven’t watched gravity falls chronologically in 5 years so my memory is hazy around all of this sorry)
AND YEAH OKAY IM STOPPING i could literally elaborate so much more on everything but i’m cutting myself off just know that gravityfallsnatural is all i think about every day

Chapter two is up!
Steven went back into the gift shop and sought out Mister Myster.
He found him in the back of the gift shop, talking to a boy, and handing him a bunch of signs. He pointed at the door and the boy walked out.
“Excuse me,” Steven said, getting the man’s attention.
He turned around and smiled at him.
“Welcome back, my good sir! What can I help you with?” He asked.
“Well, I saw your sign,” Steven pointed at the help wanted sign in the window, “and was wondering if the position was still open.”
Mister Mystery nodded his head, “Yep! That spot is most definitely still opened. And if you want the job, you’re hired! You’re the first person to ask,” he turned and motioned for Steven to follow him. Steven followed him to what looked like his office, and sat in the chair in front of his desk.
“So what’s your previous job experience like?” Mister Mystery asked, rifling through some files in a cabinet by his desk.
“Well, uh,” Steven looked around nervously. How do you explain to a human that you were a galactic ambassador for two years of your life?
“Um, I was a sales clerk at a donut shop,” was all Steven was able to say. All of his other ‘professions’ were wrapped in gem stuff, and this road trip was about being human.
“Got experience in customer service I see, perfect,” Mister Mystery closed the cabinet he was looking in and opened the one below it, “now where is that stupid paperwork,” he muttered.
Just then, Steven remembered.
“Uh, so, the thing is, I don’t have a social security number. Is that okay?” He asked.
Mister Mystery looked up at him before closing the drawer he was looking in and smiled, “Kid, that’s perfect, less paperwork for me,” he held out his hand, “You’re hired!”
Steven smiled wide. He just got his first paying job! And it was a lot easier than he’d thought. He shook Mister Mystery’s hand.
“Thank you, Mister Mystery!”
Stan smiled, “Please, calls me Mr. Pines.”
Steven nodded, “Okay, thank you Mr. Pines!”
And with that, Steven became an official staff member of the Mystery Shack
—————
Steven got back into his car, buzzing with excitement. This was going to be his first job that didn’t include gems, and he was ready for it. Mr. Pines said he would mainly just be working the gift shop, trying to get customers to ‘empty their pockets,’ as he put it. Which seemed simple enough to Steven. He turned on the ignition and realized he had no place to stay for the summer. Maybe he can find a room to rent somewhere in town tomorrow, but tonight he had to find a motel. He pulled up maps on his phone, and searched up motels in the area. As Steven drove off towards his destination, the Mystery Shack faded into the distance, and disappeared as he rounded a corner. He made it to the motel, got a room, and sat on the bed. Tomorrow would be his first real day of work; work at a museum for the weird. Steven laughed at that. He knew first hand what was ‘weird’ to humans, and the idea that he, probably the weirdest thing on earth, would be working there gave him a chuckle. He turned off the lights and crawled into bed. This would certainly be an interesting summer.
The next morning, Steven woke up early. His excitement for what the first day of work would bring woke him up around 7 am. He spent a couple of hours searching online for rooms for rent, and had no luck. It seemed like there was no place to rent in all of Gravity Falls. He frowned, unsure of how to proceed. He’ll just have to stay at the motel until he can figure out what to do. At 9 am, his alarm went off, signaling to him that his shift would start in 30 minutes. He took a quick shower, ate breakfast, and headed out to the Mystery Shack.
Steven was buzzing with excitement as he walked through the door into the Mystery Shack gift shop. It was empty aside from Stan and a red headed girl, who sat behind the register.
“Welcome back, kid,” Stan said, giving him a little wave, “This is Wendy, she’s gonna train you.”
Stan pointed at the girl behind the register, and she gave Steven a little wave. Steven waved back. She stood up and walked over to him and Stan.
“Sup, I’m Wendy,” she said, giving Steven a welcoming smile.
“I’m Steven, Steven Universe,” he held out a hand to Wendy. She shook it.
“That’s an epic last name, did you have it changed or was that your parents’ name?” Wendy put her hands back into her jean pockets.
Steven scratched the back of his neck.
“Well, it’s my dad’s last name, but he had it changed. He was a musician and he thought Greg Universe sounded better than Greg DeMayo.”
Wendy frowned, “Greg Universe? Why does that sound familiar?”
“Well, he was a musician, maybe you heard one of his songs?” Steven suggested.
“Hm, maybe? But I feel like it’s something else…” she shrugged, “I’ll think of it later. But now I gotta tell you how to do stuff.”
Wendy proceeded to spend the next 2 hours teaching Steven how to run the gift shop. He got a little stuck on the register, but by the end of the 2 hours, he put in charge. Well, technically Wendy was still in charge, but she was sitting on the ground reading a magazine while Steven manned the register.
“If you have any questions, I’m right here,” she said before settling down to read her magazine.
Business was pretty slow, but that was a given considering it was a Monday. A few people had come through, but they mainly bought mugs and bumper stickers. Steven managed to sell a shirt, but that was the biggest purchase all day and it was already 3 pm. Steven drummed his fingers against the countertop of the cash wrap, trying to tap a tune to keep himself entertained. He found himself drumming the tune to Working Dead by Sadie Killer and the Suspects. It’s been a while since he has talked to them. He should call them after work. He started humming the lyrics, forming the song with the tapping of his fingers.
“Dude, are you humming Working Dead?”
Steven looked towards the floor to see Wendy looking at him.
“Yeah, I am. It’s a fun song.”
A huge smile formed on her face, “I love Sadie Killer and the suspects! Their music is so good, and I love their whole vibe!”
“I know right! Fun fact, that song was created while we were watching horror movies in Sadie's basement!” Steven smiled at the fond memory.
“Wait,” Wendy stood up, “We, what do you mean by we? You were there?”
Steven nodded, “Yeah! We were watching The Lurch and Sour Cream liked the background music, so he started mixing, adding drum beats and stuff, then Jenny started playing her bass, and I joined on the electric guitar. Buck joined on his acoustic guitar and then we just needed lyrics. Sadie had just gotten off of work, so she started singing about it. And boom! Working Dead was born, and Sadie Miller became Sadie Killer. And that’s how the band formed.”
Wendy’s mouth was agape and she looked stunned.
“You… were there… oh my god,” her eyes widened as she realized something, “your dad is Greg Universe! Their manager! I knew that name sounded familiar.”
Steven gave a little laugh, “That he is. He has some experience in ‘show biz.’”
Wendy pulled out her phone, “I’m soooo telling my friends about this,” she sat back down on the floor and started texting.
The next few minutes passed in silence, with only the faint clicks of a keyboard to break it. But that silence is broken by a shriek. Steven stood up quickly, worried that someone might be in trouble. Suddenly, a girl runs into the gift shop, followed by a boy. They both looked pretty young; probably only around 12. The girl was laughing, holding something in her hand as the boy chased her.
“Mabel! Give it back!” The boy yelled
“Come and get it then!”
The boy tackled the girl and they wrestled on the ground as the boy tried to grab the item. The girl locked eyes with Steven and shouted, “Catch!” before throwing the object at him. Steven caught it effortlessly and saw that it was an almost solved Rubik’s cube. Steven looked up from it to see the boy on the other side of the counter.
“Can I Please have that back? I’m so close to solving it,” the boy said.
Steven smiled at him before handing it back.
The girl, who he presumed was Mabel, pouted, “You’re not supposed to give it back to him!”
Steven shrugged, “Sorry.”
The boy scowled at his sister before looking back at Steven, “Thanks! I’m Dipper by the way, and this is Mabel,” he pointed at the girl.
“Whomp whoooomp,” she said.
Steven smiled and gave them both a little wave, “Hi! I’m Steven, nice to meet you.”
Wendy popped up from behind the counter.
“Hey Mabel, hey Dipper,” she turned to face Steven, “these are Mr. Pines’s twin great niece and nephew. They’re staying here for the summer.”
Steven looked back to see Dipper working on the Rubik’s cube while Mabel stared at him.
“That sounds like fun. I’m going to be staying in Gravity Falls for the summer too! Although, I have yet to find a place to stay.”
He looked at Wendy to see he had started texting again, “Um, Wendy?”
She doesn’t look up from her phone, “Yeah?”
“Know any places in town that are renting? Right now I’m staying in the Moonlight All-Night Motel,” Steven asked.
Wendy shook her head, “Not that I’m aware of.”
Mabel’s face lit up, “You can rent a room here!”
Steven twiddles his thumbs, “Uh, I don’t want to impose…”
“Pfft,” Mabel waved her hand dismissively at him, “It’s no big deal! I’ll ask Grunkle Stan right now!”
Before Steven could protest, she ran behind a door that said ‘Employees Only.’
Dipper sighed, “I’ll go talk to her.”
And with that, the twins had both left the gift shop. Steven mulled over the idea of staying at the Mystery Shack over the summer. He would certainly be closer to work, and it was better than the motel for sure.
‘If Mr. Pines says yes to Mabel, then maybe, but for now, I should get back to work,’ Steven thought just as a group of tourists came into the gift shop.
———
As Steven cleaned up the shop, preparing to close, Mr. Pines walked in.
Stan gives Steven a pat on the back, “Wendy tells me you did a good job! Congrats on your first day of work. Now, just because you did good today, doesn’t mean you get to slack off. I already got one lazy teenager, I don’t need another one. Wait, how old did you say you were again?”
“Eighteen,”
“Okay, so still a teenager, I was right,” Stan muttered.
He frowned, appearing to be deep in thought.
Steven waited for him to say something. When he didn’t, Steven went back to sweeping.
“Mabel tells me you don’t have a place to stay,”
Steven turned around to see Stan looking at him,
He laughed nervously, “Yeah, I rolled into town only yesterday. And I tried looking online this morning to see if there were any places nearby that were renting, but I couldn’t find anything.”
Stan smiled, “Well, there's a room open in this very house! Rent is only... $300 a month.”
Steven mulled it over. He’d only be staying here for around three months, and so $300 times 3 would be.. $900. He’d have to ask his dad to give him some more cash, but he has enough for at least one month.
Steven nodded, “Sound good, I can do that.”
Stan smiled. This kid was loaded!
“Great! Come back here with your stuff while I have the room prepped. Soos!” Stan yelled.
The ‘Employees Only’ door opened and in walked in who Steven suspected was the handyman, judging by the tool belt he wore.
“Sup Mr. Pines? Whatcha need?”
Stan gestured towards Steven.
“Get the spare room prepped for someone to live in, I’m letting this kid rent it.”
“Will do Mr. Pines!” With that, Soos turned and walked back through the door he came from.
Stan turned back towards Steven.
“The room will probably be ready in 30 minutes, be back by then. You can leave now.”
Steven nodded, “Will do!”
Steven put the broom away before waving a goodbye to Stan and fussing out the door. He hurried back to his motel room, and packed him. This summer was already off to a great start, and he was ready for everything else it would bring.

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I know you have moved on to other Fandoms and more than likely will not update dbc (which is perfectly fine). Would it be possible that you spoil what you had planned for the last 9chs? I've been a fan of dbc since 2016, and it is honestly one of the best works I've read. Even though I've moved on in my life from Fanfiction, this is the one work I cant seem to let go (1)
Tumblr media
Wow, thank you so much for sending me this message, it means so much to me. I’ve been wanting to make a post about DBC for ages, but it’s hard admitting you’re giving up on something to the people who’ve been supporting you for so long, even if you know they’d be understanding. As hard as that is, though, it isn’t right of me to ghost you guys, and I’m sorry for putting this off for so long. You guys deserve better. I’d be happy to share the outline of the remaining chapters with you, and I thank you for giving me this opportunity
So! The remainder of the story was going to focus on Dipper and Bill and their burgeoning romantic relationship. Dipper realized when he was at the convention that he was missing Bill in a “more than best friends” kind of way, and that all comes to a head. One of the chapters was going to be them going on a treasure hunt using the map Bill gave to Dipper for his birthday, and that was going to be their first date. The conflict would be Bill trying to rush the sexual aspect of their relationship, eager to experiment, but Dipper would set down some boundaries and they’d have a good talk about all that. Fun fact; this was the second “prophecy” from the possessed psychic in chapter 7, “You will go seeking in the woods, but will not be sought.” Calling out Bill's relationship troubles half a year in advance, ouch.
Eventually, Mabel would sit the boys down and say she wants to go back to California and go to school for an art degree. We tried to sprinkle this through the fic, but for the most part, Mabel’s felt she’s been missing out on a sociable school experience and networking opportunities, as the only reason she went with Dipper to the Mystery Shack was because she was afraid of them being separated. We had a good few chapters dedicated to this big “haunted museum Halloween arc” bit with Mabel and Bill while Dipper was still at the convention, and it picked at a lot of her insecurities (namely those flared by Mirror Mabel), and she decides she wants to give her career a proper shot.
Bill is reeling, as Mabel leaving would be the biggest, permanent change he’d experienced since getting his body. There’s a bit here where he has an amiable chat with the Mirror Bill through the mirror in the woods, and finds out the Mirror Twins are back with Mirror Stan and seem to have turned a new leaf. Call backs!
As Bill’s working through everything, with Dipper’s help, he has a dream. At first, it’s about anxieties of what the future holds. But then it changes. Bill’s been found by Her. She gives him a warning, that it’s only a matter of time before she finds his body. Bill wakes up, and he’s distraught. He’s been caught.
Her; or more properly, the Collection, is an eldritch horror who’s obsessed with gathering unique baubles from across dimensions. The more unique, the better. Back when Bill was still in his own dimension, he approached the Collection and said he’d work for her, gathering her objects of interest, in exchange for power. What objects of interest, exactly? Souls! “Great” souls, to be more specific. Bill had a great knack for finding them, and would hop from dimension to dimension and take the souls of people that would someday enact great change, but only before they did so. These were the Collection’s favorite trophies, and Bill was very good about delivering them. Until, one time, he tried to break out on his own. If he could get his pet project off the ground, Weirdmaggedon, then he’d be beyond the Collection’s influence. However, the Collection found him out, and put a stop to it. This is why in DBC, there’s the canon divergence of Bill never appearing again after Sock Opera.
The Collection was furious, and Bill felt it was only a matter of time before she punished him properly, thus he sought out the Pine twins for refuge. But there’s a catch as to why he sought out the twins. One of them was a great soul, and he was hoping if worse came to worst, he could offer one of them up to the Collection as a bargain in the event that she found him.
Present day, however, Bill pretty much accepts that he’s done for. The Collection is going to pluck him up eventually and that’ll be the end of it, soe tries to enjoy the unknown amount of time he has left. One chapter was going to be the Thanksgiving party with everyone coming by; Stan, Ford, Pacifica, Wendy, Dipper and Mabel’s parents, and all the interactions around that. Pacifica and Bill bicker affectionately (these two were really my favorite part of writing DBC) and Ford would discover that Dipper and Bill would be dating, and we’d deal with the drama of all that. Warm and funny and wholesome all around, though the calm before the storm.
So it’s properly winter now, and Bill and Mabel are chopping fire wood. Bill’s showing off how much better he’s gotten at it when the spectral form of the Collection appears. She takes Mabel, who’s revealed to be the great soul, and leaves. She could have taken Bill, but she chose not to probably due to sheer lack of interest, which must mean that Bill is off the hook. Bill is horrified.
He tells Dipper what happened and his whole history with the Collection. Dipper is furious that Bill had been lying to them this whole time and that he had always intended on throwing them into danger. Bill has no excuse, but says he’s still going to try and rescue Mabel. He doesn’t know how, but he needs to try something. They perform a ritual and enter the Collection’s domain together.
Bill offers up his journals and himself. The idea is, is that the Collection prizes unique things, and Bill argues that the journals are an account of an eldritch horror forgetting themselves and finding humanity, and that there’s nothing else like that anywhere. The Collection accepts his offer and takes his journals (his last remaining memory of his past self) and the last piece of his old soul, taking with it the last of his power. This is signified by his now having two eyes. Bill is now entirely human. (The third of the possessed psychic’s prophecy: “You will see the end of your troubles, but you will not make it out in one piece.)
There would be an epilogue a few months later and they’d be celebrating Bill’s first birthday. Bill’s memory of his past self had almost been completely erased; he just knows that it happened vaguely as a fact. He’s still working to repair his relationship with the twins and living with Dipper at the Shack. He looks forward to the remainder of his life.
The end!

November 14: Smashing the Wait: Gravity Falls
Writing about something that isn’t Smash might seem odd, but that’s how we roll here. Besides, this is POST #200! After months and months, I’ve managed to finally hit that milestone. Anyway, as with last time, we’ll be back to regular business tomorrow.
Tumblr media
Sent there with his sister for their summer vacation, the sleepy backwoods town of Gravity Falls, Oregon seems a bit...off to nebbish pre-teen Dipper Pines (Jason Ritter). They’ll be living with their sleazy great-uncle Stan (series creator Alex Hirsch), an aging con artist whose life’s work is a museum of fake curios and even more fake cryptids called the Mystery Shack. And while it doesn’t stem from nonsense like the “Sascrotch” or “Six Pack o’ Lope,” the town itself has an undeniable aura of darkness. Sure, Dipper’s hyperactive twin Mabel (Kristen Schaal) has taken to the nature well, Stan’s handyman Soos (Hirsch) is wonderful, and cute retail worker Wendy (Linda Cardellini) is super cool. But the town is filled with frightful noises, graffiti and markings of eyes or symbols, and shadows of things that should not be. At the very least, that mailman has to be a werewolf.
It’s only natural that Dipper stumbles onto a bizarre journal hidden in a secret stash. It’s his own Dungeons & Dragons monster manual, with mysterious notes cataloging unicorns, gnomes, zombies, leprecorns, flying eyeballs, even Bat Boy from Weekly World News. Its unknown author also makes clear one thing: in Gravity Falls, there are legitimate dark forces at work, and there is no one you can trust to not be part of that. But Dipper and Mabel's “mystery twins” bond won’t be broken so easily, and they start working together to discover the secrets behind this Podunk village - though not before enjoying the arcade and pool, watching incomprehensible informercials, and getting mixed up with the town’s absurd personalities. They’re still on summer break, after all, with new friends to make, romances to have, and capers to pull off.
Tumblr media
At first glance, Gravity Falls is a fairly obvious kid-friendly love letter to two of my absolute favorite shows. The Twin Peaks element is fairly huge. There’s a small town in the Pacific Northwest filled with eccentrics, a bunch of mysteries that run the gamut from silly to horrifying, and even an TV show that acts as a Greek chorus for the actual story (in Twin Peaks it was Invitation to Love; Gravity Falls has Ducktective). And it’s just as clearly based on The X-Files, which also drew from Peaks. The world is one where any stretch of woods could be home to all manner of wonderful and terrible things, creatures that can only live just on the outskirts of the imagination. It even reuses on of that show’s most iconic lines, “trust no one,” to describe the web of conspiracy and threat which slowly surrounds the kids. So just on that note, it definitely pushes my buttons.*
* Side note: I can’t imagine I’ll get to either of them for an actual post, but do also watch Twin Peaks and The X-Files. They’re both excellent.
But the show is so much more than that - and more than its references to other things Alex Hirsch likes (amongst them video games, tabletop RPGs, pinball, elaborate puzzles, 1980s pop songs and adventure movies, body horror, rap songs that invent new words, and painfully bad puns). It’s also an ode to the experience of being on vacation as a kid, of exploring someplace a bit out there from civilization. The unknown can be exciting and fun in a way that’s harder to feel when you’re older, and the idea that anything can happen off the beaten trail is intoxicating. Plus, there’s that sense of fleeting abandon; after all, it’ll all be over soon, so why not go crazy? That childhood perspective is especially valuable, and it allows the show its breadth of tone. Living Street Fighter shotoclones and a race of hyper-masculine “manotaurs” comfortably exist in the same story as Eldritch behemoths and multi-generation tragedies, because they all come from the perspective of two kids discovering these for themselves. Its damn fine cast is part of that, as is the great writing and gorgeous animation (courtesy of that sweet, sexy Disney moolah). But I think its wedding of flighty, silly kids’ adventures to older horror and pain is the center of what makes it work so well.
Tumblr media
Why should Super Smash Bros. fans watch it? “Ridley in the clouds.” “A photoshopped Little Mac.” Nonexistent radio interviews. Smash fans love ourselves conspiracies, hoaxes, tricks, and leaks. It’s a part of the process inexorable for fans, and those who try to avoid them find it incredibly difficult. We place a lot of stock in them, and I think looking at a silly show about wild hoaxes might be a good way to take them into perspective. Sometimes, a wild rumor isn’t more than a rock that looks like a face. This isn’t to say it’s bad to enjoy them or want them true, but maybe it’s alright to treat them with a bit more levity. Sometimes, a low resolution photo isn’t any more than a “thighclops,” and that’s okay! It’s even worth celebrating.
Gravity Falls might also be valuable by being a kids’ show that doesn’t shy away from darker or older topics. It’s a story about youth, but - like EarthBound in a way - it’s also a story about the bittersweet pains of slowly leaving childhood. The eye of Smash looks at a wide range of players and fans. There are people far my senior and kids far my junior who all like it, and who got into it in a myriad of ways. But I think it might be good to occasionally look at the game from the latter perspective. A lot of younger and newer players might not feel the weight of decades of gaming history, seeing it as “just” a game. For all that Sakurai looks to history, this series is always a fun fighting game first and foremost; the series’ themes and artistic ambitions come from the play just as much than they do from any trophy or spirit. It’s sometimes good to go back a bit, and enjoy the game with that perspective.

CHARACTER INFO:
Disney Movie: Gravity Falls Disney Character: Mabel Full Name: Mabel Pines Face Claim 1: Hailee Steinfeld Age:  19 Preferred Pronouns: she/her Orientation: Pansexual. She says that she is open to love and even though she knows she can be a little boy crazy, when it comes down to it love is all about the connection and the type of person someone is rather than what junk they got in the trunk. Modifications: just the basics Miscellaneous Details: She would like it to be known that her teeth are flawless now that she no longer needs those braces.
Style-wise, Mabel is always wearing sweaters she knit herself. Some have cool sayings on them, some are sorta plain. Glitter also tends to end up in her hair a lot but she doesn’t really know why that is. Residence: Second Ring Occupation: College Student, Works at the Mystery Shack
Background:
Mabel and Dipper Pines are the coolest twins to ever hit the Second Ring (at least according to Mabel). Mabel, the older and taller twin, has always been a bit of a social butterfly. Mabel always believed that you could get through anything with a little bit of kindness and a lotta bit of glitter. Sometimes people bullied her, saying she was too silly and could never amount to anything serious, but Mabel didn’t care. She took most criticism in one ear and out of the other. Because when it came down to it, Mabel was a person of the people. Where she didn’t excel in brains she did in people skills and until she was thirteen, life was easy-peasy. Then during the summer of their thirteenth year they were sent to live with their Grunkle Stan and his Mystery Shack.
It was a tourist trap, a museum of sorts, and it was where Mabel fell in love with the idea of planet Earth. The Shack was filled with all kinds of old school Earth stuff like the 80’s, wax figures of historical people, and random ancient and outdated artifacts. Mabel wanted nothing more than to be a normal Earth girl. She wanted to be able to experience the fresh air and the boy bands and everything that made the Earth the Earth. She has completely surrounded herself in the outdated culture and often likes to pretend that she isn’t living on a ship in the middle of space. She goes to college just like Dipper and tries her best to go with what society is telling her to go with, but in the end she just can’t seem to take it seriously enough to want to be a part of that world. The only thing Mabel ever takes 100% seriously is the Mystery Shack and that is okay with her.
As Mabel has gotten older, she has started taking an interest in the politics of the ship. She had always liked the idea of being in a higher position of power, but no one took her too seriously since she was just so darn silly all the time. She thinks she would make an awesome Council Member someday, bringing the party and the pizzaz to the dullness that they Council seemed to have lurking over them. In the meantime, she focuses on her other passions; crafts, knitting, karaoke, and boys. Mabel is determined to have the grand romance she deserves, like in the ancient romance movies her Grunkle owned. She wants to bump into a mysterious stranger and fall in love at first sight. Until them, she can only dream.
Three or more Head canons:
1: Mabel has a pet pig named Waddles. They met by a chance of fate, or at least Mabel sees it that way. It was at a carnival. Pigs were being given away like they were nothing and Mabel could see the hunger in people’s eyes when they looked at them. Mabel could not let that stand and she went out of her way to make sure that Waddles ended up as hers. She has been a vegan ever since adopting Waddles and he goes everywhere with her. She really enjoys dressing him up.
2: Mabel takes memories really seriously. She is a very intense scrapbooker and prefers to do that than have it all on her mods. If Mabel thinks something is worth remembering she will stop everything she is doing to take that photo. She is in college for photography at the moment, since it was the next best thing aside from Drama (which she wanted to do but was kicked out of early on).
3. Mabel has a serious addiction to sugar. It’s like actual cocaine to her. One of her sugar binges was so bad that Dipper debated putting her through a rehabilitation program. It’s her tell when she is really stressed out. She hits the sugar like nobody’s business.
4. Mabel owns a grappling hook that she has on her at all times. If it isn’t out in the open, it tucked under her sweater. It makes her feel not only badass, but like a super awesome spy at the same time. Sometimes she wishes what her life would be like if she was a spy.
5. Mabel has her own fanclub dedicated to the Pluto. She says it will always be a planet to her.
6. Whenever Mabel has nightmares, she meows herself back to sleep.
7. Mabel has an unhealthy habit of taking the picture of every boy she has ever found mildly attractive. It is safe to say she has a pretty impressive collection of photos.

Fic Wars [EEF] Chapter 1
This is the first chapter of a fanfic I’m doing with @emilyelizabethfowl for the Fic Wars! The official event’s blog is @fandomficwars!
Fandom: Gravity Falls
:D
Dipper rouse from his semi-sleeping state at the unexpected movement, the bus he was currently in must have take a dump in the road to wake him so suddenly. He looked at his right, his sister Mabel was still soundly asleep, she probably didn't even felt the jerk the bus took at that moment and she definitely didn't woke from the small shaking dipper gave her.
Sighing he gave up trying to wake his twin, it was going to be a long and boring travel without someone to talk to. With another sigh Dipper decided to look at the landscape in the window, only to see the seemly endless pine forest of Oregon, leaning his head in his hand and looking as bored as he felt Dipper's mid wandered on the reasons that put them there.
It all started a week before the summer holidays began, Dipper and Mabel were walking home after a useless school day. Like every other year just before the holidays where the students just lay in the classroom lazily and the teachers, that already gave all the material of the year, make sure nobody cause too much chaos, Dipper always took his favorite book at the moment to read in school and not die of boredom, he had tried to read comics but some teachers didn't like that and took the comics away from any child, so to avoid to give up any form of entertainment he chose books.
Mabel  always did some kind of art, that year it involved a lot of glitter and there was not a single person in the whole school that didn't have some glitter somewhere in their person, she called it the 'Glitter Bomb' and labeled the parts of the school with more glitter as 'par of Glitter Bomb'. She convinced the janitors to not clean the labeled parts until the end of term, then if she could make her plans reality, the school would end up one of the shiniest buildings in the district.
The twins were just a block from their house, Mabel was humming a song that had been stuck in her head for three days and Dipper was trying and failing to remove the glitter from his face, when they noticed a thick and black smoke column rising from their neighborhood. They ran to see what house was in fire only to find out it was theirs, thankfully their parents weren't in the house at the moment of the fire.
The few days between the fire and their travel felt like a dream to both twins, the police found out that a pyromaniac had sent the house on fire, it seemed that the criminal have been setting random building on fire in the last two months but, unfortunately they have been unable to arrest them but they promised to inform them when they catch the criminal.
A small blessing was that their house was insured against fires of any kind, meaning they could get a new house but in the meantime they had to live with their grandmother. Dipper and Mabel agreed that living with their grandma was not a happy experience, they couldn't made too much noise or play until it was dark outside and the food didn't have savor because she had a lot of sensitivity problems that didn't let her eat a lot of foods. They didn't blame her, she was kind to them and told them a lot of great stories, but to two's twelve years old the prospect of a summer like that wasn't very tempting.
Thankfully their parents decided they needed more fresh air than they could get with their grandma, so their dad had talked with their Great Uncle Stan that lived in Gravity Falls, Oregon and he had agreed to take the twins for the summer. Dipper didn't knew what to think of their uncle they haven't heard until now, they didn't knew what kind of person he was, Mabel was ecstatic that she would meet more family and the possibility that they could have an adventure there, besides she had always hoped to have a summer romance. They packed their little belongings and, after promising to give a call to their parents when they reached the town, they got on the bus towards their adventure, that started to be very boring after the first few hours of nothing to do in the bus. They played some games, ate the snacks their mom did and almost got the chauffeur angry at them before taking a nap.
"Dollar guy… still good looking... he, he..." Mabel mumbled after almost waking up when the bus took another bump and kept snoring softly.
Dipper smiled and shook his head in amusement at his sister’s old crush and turned his head to continue looking at the forest. He was thankful that Mabel liked only one of the money people, she had had a lot of crushes in their short life.
A few minutes later Dipper saw in between the trees a water tower with the inscription 'Gravity Falls' in it, he was considering to wake up Mabel when he saw something strange in the woods. He only saw it for just a second but for the shape he knew it wasn't a human being or any animal he knew that lived in those forests. It looked bipedal but appeared to have a lot of bulbous in its body, besides it was moving so he couldn't be sure of what he saw.
A look of astonishment blossomed in Dipper’s face, was that real? Did he really saw that thing? or was a weird shaped rock? Those questions were running through his head his head during the time it took the bus to arrive in town. Deciding to not think too much on something that could be his imagination he started to wake up his sister.
"Mabel, wake up" Dipper said while shaking her shoulder.
"Urghh… are we there yet?" Mabel asked groggily, still waking up.
"Yup, now grab your bags we are meeting Great Uncle Stan in the station" Dipper said while grabbing his bag.
"He he, bet you can't say Great Uncle super fast" Mabel challenge him.
The twins smiled and started their game while getting their things and continued after getting off the bus, they ended up saying words like grestcle, ungret, clegrea and gruncle. At the last one Mabel snorted so hard that started to have a laughing fit and was soon followed by Dipper, the word was perfect for them and the decision was made, they now have a Gruncle.
"Gruncle Stan!" Mabel screamed while hugging the old man with the sign that read "Mabel and Dipper' in big black words.
The man that dipper was sure was their Gruncle Stan was wearing a maroon fez with a golden crescent shape with a dot next to it, square glasses and a black suit with a red bow tie. He had wrinkled skin, big ears and a five o’clock shade.
"Gwahhhg!" Stan exclaimed, surprised at being almost pushed to the floor for a small 12 years old, she was stronger than she looked.
"Hi Gruncle Stan" Dipper greeted him while carrying their belongings and trying to not laugh at the sight in front of him.
"Hey kiddos, ready to stay with your Great Uncle Stan for the summer?" Stan said in a tone that made dipper thing he was trying to sell them something.
"Yay!" Mabel screamed in joy, still hugging him.
"Sure Gruncle Stan" Dipper said.
"Gruncle?" Stan asked confused he had never heard that word before.
"Yes, it's great and uncle combined in a word. Gruncle!" Mabel explained letting go of the hug to better express with her arms.
"Two word into one? I like it! Alright come on the golf cart is outside" Stan said while leading them towards the exit.
"Golf cart?" dipper asked confused.
"Yea, the car is in repair, something to do with raccoons, toilet paper and a goat, but don't worry it’s only temporary" Stan explained.
"Oh! Dipper this is great! We’ve never been in a golf cart, how fast do you think it may be?" Mabel said with a happy tone. Dipper only shrugged in response, though for what they have seen in the TV he assumed that those weren't fast.
The three made their way to the parking lot were the golf cart was, the twins got in the back seats put the seatbelts on and dropped their things in the floor. They soon learned just how fast that golf cart could be, it was very, very fast. Stan rushed through the traffic, even if there wasn't a lot to being with, and went to a dirt street that seemed to go into the forest, at the end of the way there was a wooden house with a big cartel on the side.
"Mystery Shack?" Dipper asked while reading the letter, he wondered why it needed a cartel.
"Yes! The Mystery Shack! A place where you can find the weird and obscure things that can be found in the forest of Gravity Falls and have neat things at accessible prices" Stan responded gesturing dramatically at the shack.
"Ohh!" Mabel owed with stars in her eyes.
"It’s a tourist trap, right?" Dipper asked with a straight face.
"Yep, I have to make a living somehow" Stan explained and lead them inside.
"Still cool" Mabel said smiling while following them, Dipper nodded in agreement.
The first thing the twins saw inside the shack was the gift shop, there was a desk with a cash register with some miscellaneous items to sell around it and some decorations, like the jar full of eyeballs that Dipper would swore they moved. In the wall in front of the desk there were shelves with products and some boxes with various items, they could also see a side door with 'Cryptid Museum' written in it. The wall in front of them there were stairs that lead to the upper floors and a candy machine. There were also two other doors that the twins didn't knew where it leads.
"Urgh... where are they..." Stan mumbled, looking around, "WENDY SOOS COME HERE NOW!" Stan yelled.
A few seconds later a big young man appeared from the 'Cryptid Museum' with a broom in his hands. He was wearing a dark green t-shirt whit a question mark painted in the front, he had a light brown hat, beige shorts and brown sneakers. He had fair skin, buck teeth and some hairs growing in his face.
"Staff Soos reporting for duty sir" Soos said smiling and doing the military salute.
"Good, where is Wendy?" Stan asked, looking mildly annoyed.
Just then a red haired teenager came down the stairs, she had fair skin with some freckles in her face. She was wearing a brown lumberjack hat, a flannel green shirt with a white tank top under it, dark blue jeans and brown boots. Dipper though she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, even if she was frowning.
"Hey, no need to yell. I was in my break" Wendy said, clearly displeased for being called and interrupted in whatever she was doing.
"Wendy, Soos, remember when I told you my great nephews were coming?" Stan said and continued ignoring the 'No's' from them, "Well here they are, Dipper, Mabel they are my employees Wendy Corduroy and Soos Ramirez. Wendy, Soos they are Dipper and Mabel" Stan introduced them.
"Hi friendos" Soos greeted them while holding his fist to them which the twins responded enthusiastically, he seemed very friendly.
"Sup" Wendy said smiling giving them a wave, the twins responded with their waves, Mabel's more enthusiastic than Dipper's.
"Well come on, I’ll show you your room where you can leave your things" Stan said and lead them towards the stairs.
Their bedroom appeared to had been a storage room that was recently renovated to accommodate them, with the old arcade games, a fortune telling machine, a coffin and two closets. There were two beds with a night table in the middle and a triangular window that let natural light illuminate the room that had a view towards the front of the shack.
"I call the right one!" Mabel screamed before jumping on her desired bed while laughing.
"He he alright" Dipper said before doing the same.
While the twins were having fun and their laughter drifted through the mystery shack giving it a sense of fun comfort something different was going on in the forest. Some creatures could feel it, others knew that something was coming, that something was powerful enough to awaken slumbering begins, make old plans start and make reality take a turn to accommodate it, all in all the pine twins were sure to have an interesting summer.

Political Climate
Set around July 2017. Warning for antisemitism, light swearing, and minor violence.
Kike [kyke]- antisemitic slur, a corrupted reference to the circle marks illiterate Jewish immigrants made on immigration documents.
Putz [puhts]- an American Jewish slang term meaning a jerk or fool; taken more vulgarly (as in this story) it stands in for “dickhead”.
Schmuck [shmuk]- an American Jewish slang term meaning penis, used to refer to someone who’s a dick.
---------------------------
The offender was down before he knew what had hit him --literally. His stick dropped with a clack, and his knees hit the pavement hard as he cupped his nose, blood burbling out from behind his black bandanna. Uncontrollable screaming flooded their ears, followed by a rough and rushed getaway from under the noses of the quickly gathering police force.
This was not the way the day was supposed to go. This was not the way it was supposed to have gone at all.
-----
It was decided that a family trip to Portland was in order. With all the years of the kids coming up to visit from Piedmont, they had never really left Gravity Falls. Sure, there was the occasional road trip to the other tourist traps, but Dipper and Mabel had never been to the City of Roses. Dipper had read articles about the old Lone Fir cemetery being a major paranormal hot spot, and Mabel had seen a food show about the local Black Magic Donuts serving pastries the size of her head. She had grabbed Stan by his shoulders and shook him, crying,
"THE SIZE OF MY HEAD GRUNKLE STAN! THE SIZE OF MY HEAAAAAD!!"
It really hadn't taken much to convince the old men to give into the two teenagers wishes. Portland was a nice city, in Stan's opinion. He didn't go often, but he had always had a pleasant experience, and Ford hadn't been in quite a while. It would be nice to just have a slow family day, and wander around town, taking in the sights. Get some good eats, maybe sit in a park by the river, or go to one of the museums. A restful day: just what they all needed.
So, everyone piled into the twins' well worn sedan, and waved goodbye to Soos and Melody, who holding Waddles and waving furiously, calling out a reminder to visit the farmer's market. Once the tires hit the main highway, the time on the road passed quickly, considering how far they had to drive. It was filled the with laughter, stories, and song, and before they knew it, they were pulling into a parking garage in downtown, and filing out into the hot day.
"Man," Dipper said, stretching, "this is a nice looking place. Looks a lot easier to navigate than the Bay Area, but I don't want to chance it. I'm glad we can walk where we want to get to."
"Yeah, or call a 'Frendz-With-Carz'." Mabel said absently, as she fiddled with her map app.
"Mabel, I'm not using a rideshare if we have the car."
"Yeah, I know, but maybe we'll be really far away and tired at the end of the day, bro-bro. Hey, did you know there's a two story arcade a few blocks away?"
Dipper excitedly turned to ask about it, but was beat to the punch by Ford's questions. "So, what exactly are we doing, kids? You're leading today, so where are we going?"
"That way, Grunkle Ford!!" Mabel cried loudly, pointing into the distance with a dramatic pose. "To DONUTS!!" Thoroughly enchanted with the idea of finally devouring a donut the size of her own head, she bounded off down the block, leaving the rest of her family calling after her and following along.
The line to the shop was starting to get pretty long by the time that they arrived, but it turned out to be well worth the wait. The people were nice and the exterior of the building was fun and funky, but inside the shop, the kistch inside reminded them all of the Mystery Shack: lots of little occult symbols and themed merch all over the walls. Both of the older men were as intrigued by the interior as the two teens --Ford by symbols and mystical doodads that he was sure he recognized, and Stan by the sheer overbearingness of it all. He loved it, and said that it gave him a few ideas to pass along to Soos to try in the Shack.
The family left with hands holding jelly-filled screaming voodoo-dollnuts, and a signature pink box full of some of the other unique pastries the shop sold --including Mabel's prized giant donut, half eaten.
"So where to now, you two?" Stan asked, hefting the box in one hand and finishing off his screaming victim in the other. "As long as it's not more food, I'm good."
"Well," Dipper said, checking his own phone, "It sort of is. The road we take to get over to the cemetery passes right through the Farmer's Market that Melody mentioned this morning." He shrugged apologetically. "Sorry Grunkle Stan, but look at it this way, we can pick up something to take along for later."
The day was gorgeous and sunny as they walked. It was also unfortunately sticky and humid, as they soon discovered, but they weren't letting it get them down. Dipper pulled out his camera that he had brought along for hopeful sightings and EVPs, and started recording his family. It was a good excuse to play with his settings, but an even better one to record some memories. Time with these two old men were precious. They wouldn't be around forever, and there was no telling when something...
He shook his head, focusing on his camera. No. Today wasn't for thoughts like that. He knew what reality was and what it entailed --he wasn't naive-- but today was for fun, and family. Not inevitability. Lifting the camera up higher, he adjusted the display screen and started panning around the area. The crowds were getting far thicker, and there were starting to be a lot more movement and sound.
"Hey Mabel," he asked, "are we at the market?"
"What? No, I don't think so." She replied, frowning. "I think we've still got a couple blocks."
Ford looked out and around at everyone. "I wonder what could be going on, then. There's beginning to be quite a lot of people. Far more than there has been on these busy metropolitan streets...."
They walked a bit further before they came upon the thick of the crowd, seething and yelling. It was some form of protest against a recent piece of legislature passed by the new President. Signs were being waved in the crowd, mostly against what had been done, marked with caricatures and satirical images of the orange-colored Commander-in- Chief. Across from those protesters, however, were a growing number of signs of a much more... intolerant nature. The words themselves were angry and hateful, and very clearly mocking the people that had come to protest what they felt was harmful and unnecessary.
The Pines slowed as they surveyed the crowd, until all at once they stopped on the outskirts. No one wanted to get any nearer to this mess than they had to.
"I don't--"
"None of us do."
"We should--"
"Yeah."
"Why don't we--"
"Affirmative."
Dipper looked around as he got jostled by the crowd and saw something in the nearby distance. "Look, there's the bridge we take to get over to Lone Fir. If we go back a block, we can go around this whole mess and get on with our day."
"Sounds good to me, kid." Stan said, shifting around, trying hard not to drop the donut box or step on someone. "Let's get out of here, quick. Things like these bring back some bad memories."  As they all turned to leave, a protester wearing a bandanna over his face shoved through the group roughly, pushing Dipper into Mabel and knocking Ford down entirely.
"Hey, you lil shit!" Stan yelled as he pulled his brother up with his free hand. "Just 'cause you're wearing a mask doesn't give you the right to be a complete putz!"
The man stopped, turned and walked back slowly, gripping a rather thick stick with a puny American flag tacked to the end. He gave the evil eye to the whole family, Dipper and Mabel pulling themselves together just a hair, bracing themselves for the worst. The bandanna wearing man stopped in front of them, and looked Stan up and down critically. "In this country, I have the right to do whatever I want." He slapped the box of Black Magic donuts out of Stan's hand and stomped on them.
"HEY!!"
"We're back on top, and nothing is going to stop us, especially not an old, hooknose KIKE!! With Trump in charge, we're gonna get rid of all of the fucking worthless pieces of shit from this country, and you fucking Jews are gonna go back in the ovens!!!" The two brothers, about to spring into action stopped like they'd been slapped. Stan been called a lot of things over through his life, but Ford had spent decades away from those words. For the two of them, however, it was a shock to hear something so full of unadulterated hate followed by such giddy, maniacal laughter. "HA HA HA HA HAHAHAH--!!!!"
The hand came out of nowhere, reaching past Stan's shoulder and straight into the protester's face. It wasn't a fist, but the hard heel of the palm, and it crunched into the hidden nose with anger filled accuracy. Mabel drew her hand back and lunged forward as the man fell to his knees swearing, kicking her foot as hard as she could into his ribs. "How dare you?! HOW DARE YOU?!" She shrieked. "I HOPE YOU ROT IN HELL!!"
Ford grabbed her by her shirt collar and yanked her back before she could make another kick, pulling her down to hide her out of view as Stan scanned the crowd for the nearby police officers. He swore under his breath, and quickly shooed the family away from the enclosing law enforcement, but not before spitting on the injured and still-swearing white supremacist. Dipper stuffed his camera into his pocket, taking Mabel's hand as the family scampered away. Ford quickly dug into his coat and pulled out a device that he flipped a couple switches on and dropped. Stan growled in pain and shot his brother a dirty look as he pulled out his hearing aid as fast as he could. Tugging on sleeves, he got group to slow down as they rounded a corner onto an emptier street. You want to walk, he told them knowingly, not run. Running draws suspicion if you're the only ones doing it.
Mabel was breathing hard through clenched teeth as they walked in the direction of where Dipper had parked the car just a short time ago. She was obviously still seething over the encounter, her shoulders square and tense, but her hands were shaking. The one in Dipper's hand was trembling hard, and was starting to become clammy, but he gripped it tighter, giving her a reassuring squeeze. No one really spoke until they got to the car, and even then, only the radio could be heard until they were making their way out of Portland's center. Mabel kept glancing out the side mirrors as Dipper drove, and tensing up hard whenever they passed a cop car.
From the back seat, a rough old hand reached out and laid on her shoulder, and the tension dropped. "It's going to be okay, Mabel."
Placing her hand on top of her Grunkle's, the girl turned in her seat to look back at the old man. "Grunkle Ford, how do you know? There were police everywhere, and street cams, and people with phones--! I'm sure someone saw me!"
"Do you remember the little black box I dropped?" Mabel nodded. "That device scrambled the previous 10 minutes of video on any active camera in two block radius, and produces a feedback whine into any headset as a distraction."
Dipper nodded as he drove. "That's pretty cool, Grunkle Ford, but that's a pretty specific thing to carry around. Why did you have it? None of us were expecting anything like this to happen."
"Well, my boy, over our voyages I've had to use them a few times, so they're alway something handy to carry around." With a wry smile, he reached over with his other hand and gave his brother a shove. "That, and I figured with Stanley being around, it wouldn't hurt to have one. No telling what trouble he would get into."
Everyone in the car got a much needed laugh out of that, but Mabel's smile was the first to slip. "Yeah, I guess I was the problem child this time..." she trailed off,not wanting to look at anyone, but tensed up and gripped Ford's hand tight as Highway Patrol passed them on the road.
"Mabel, sweetie," Stan said from the seat directly behind her. "It's okay. We're heading out of town now, there's no sirens, and Ford an' me are gonna get everything taken care of." He reached around and put his hand on her other shoulder. "Even if we hadn't been able to duck the cops, you know I would have posted bail for you. And after what happened, how could I not! I mean, I woulda anyway, but you got that schmuck good. I'm proud of you!"
"But Grunkle Stan, I lost it! I hurt a complete stranger! I know he was an awful person, but I just couldn't help it. I wanted to hurt him so much for saying those things to you. About you. About us." She paused and bit her lip, frowning as tears started to form. "If you guys hadn't pulled me off of him.... I don't think I would have stopped." She sniffed hard and started to cry, gripping the comforting hands of her Grunkles. "Oh god..."
Dipper glanced over at his sister as he shifted the car towards the onramp that would take them home. Reaching out, he put his hand on her arm and gave it a good squeeze. There wasn't much he could do right now, and he knew that there wasn't much that could be done right now, anyway. His sister was in turmoil, and needed to cry. So, being the good brother he was, he would be there to support her, and wait until she was ready.
He wasn't looking forward to the next three and a half years if this is what was going to happen. The intolerance, the anger, the hate... Especially since UC Berkeley seemed to be a hot spot for political protests to turn into violent clashes. He had his own opinions and ideals, but he the last thing he wanted was to get into a fist fight over them. But, he knew that as long as he had Mabel, they would watch each other's backs and keep each other going. As long as he had his sister, his parents, and his Grunkles, he would have a support system to keep the world from getting to be too much. They all would.
Glancing to the side, and into the rearview, he saw the faces of those he loved and smiled a bit. After all, they had already faced the literal end of the world, so they could handle the stress of dipshits with bandannas and grudges. Life in this political climate was going to be rough, but with his family, they could get through the grind, one day at a time.
-----------------------------------
A/N: Man, this was both one of the hardest and easiest fics I’ve written.
If any of you have seen the news lately, there was a big fight between white supremacist protesters and anti-Trump protesters in Berkeley on April 15th that got nasty. Berkeley is not too far from Piedmont. Dipper and Mabel turn 18 this year, meaning they probably graduate from high school this June and start college shortly after their birthday, and they’re probably going to go to a close one, and UC Berkeley is, again, not all that far of a commute.
I hope you all see where my train of thought went.
Now, see, I love these kids. Gravity Falls is my nightlight in these dark times, and these two pure, wonderful kids --that are growing up to be pure and wonderful young adults-- well, they just deserve all the best in the world. They’ve already been through so much, so would it be too much to ask that they didn’t have to go through the same shit we are?
Yes, apparently, because my brain gave me solid bones for this story in about an hour and a half, and I was able to spit it out over two nights. This is why it was the easiest thing.
What makes it the hardest is the fact that I put these kids, and their great uncles through something I never want people to go through. I have a surprising number of my close friends that are Jewish,or of descent, so antisemitism is something that I really despise. I just don’t get it, and this resurgence in Naziism is really upsetting. I really didn’t want to drag this family into this sort of thing, but let’s face it: in this administration, no one is really safe anymore, not even the Pines.
Stan might have left Judaism, but white supremacists don’t care about your religious alignment, all they care about is your ancestry.
It gave me a really sick feeling in my stomach that not even these beloved characters --were they real-- would be safe from this horrifying mess of anger and hate. So, to rectify it, I made this. It’s painful but comforting, angering yet cathartic. It’s not pretty. It’s not nice. It’s terribly skewed by my own political leanings, but here it is.

HAYYYYY !!!
I'M BACK TO TALK WITH YOU ABOUT SOME NATM SHITTY IDEAS THAT ARE SO COOOOOL
SO, I LOVE THIS CROSSOVER IDEA
Ok ok, so first of all for them going to the museum in New York I was thinking of like, their parents (of Mabel and Dipper) wanting them to look at something else than their phone (I'm also thinking of them being 15-17 y/o btw, and Dipper is still obsessed with Gravity Falls and the weird magic + Mabel wearing weirdcore/nostalgiacore outfit (I love this style btw))
SO their parents sees, somehow, a poster of a night at the museum show/sleepover (Acctually it is common in some country) and they decide to go in. In here Dipper finds the fact of the exhibits just being animatronics "weird" and "impossible" because they seems to be too "humanly normal" to be robots. And he somehow manage to get Mabel in the story and they discover the tablet is magic.
