Hi! This is just an announcement post to say that I uploaded a makeup tutorial.  It was kind of a “practice” video. I have this urge to film makeup tutorials, but I keep making excuses- there’s no room in my apartment, my lighting sucks, editing is a struggle, my arms look big, I don’t have time, I act awkward on camera, somehow it looks like I have a lazy eye when I’m talking to the camera, etc.  This one has all of those aspects, but I still went ahead and did it.

The makeup has all kinds of flaws and didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted.  I would describe this makeup as a get ready with me while I slap on and go look. If I was going out somewhere, I would have cleaned up my contour with translucent powder, carved out my brows, and more finishing touches. In reality though, I put this on and took it off to just hang out in my apartment.  Please excuse those undesirable little things.

About the makeup

I used the Tartelette in Bloom palette because it’s been too long since I picked it up to use on my self and the champagne gold shade was calling my name. For this look I tried out the Voila style lashes by Esqido.  They contacted me to send them a sample of the pair of my choosing and their lash glue.  I was very excited to receive an email from them with the offer because I’ve seen youtubers talk about these lashes for years.  They were very lightweight and popped right on when I used them.  The lash glue comes in a lipgloss style packaging with a brush applicator. The packaging is the prettiest lash glue I’ve ever tried, and it seemed to do the job. These are lashes that screamed “bridal” to me.

I love to watch makeup videos of people who don’t switch it up because it cuts out like half the steps I do and looks so uncomplicated.  There are a lot of fashion bloggers that always look really put together but don’t change up the products they are using. They have their staples and don’t stray from that routine, which is the complete opposite of my style.

  I have a lot of variety when it comes to foundations, powders, palettes, etc. that I like to switch up and craft into a unique look that I probably haven’t done before.  Basically I’m way more high maintenance. For me, the main attraction of makeup is applying it. I like to zone out and come up with a new look for like three hours if I have the time. This is also why I don’t wear makeup to work- I hate how it turns out when I only have like fifteen minutes to do my face and it kind of puts a damper on my day when I’m not into the look.

However, for most people who are normal that don’t geek out over makeup products, they put on products without half as much thought or preparation.  That may come off wrong. I admire that kind of makeup application and I can’t seem to achieve it. That particular minimal style isn’t something I can see myself being able to do because I’m constantly buying things and trying new techniques. I haven’t gotten down a “signature” look yet because I’m not decisive and always trying to one up my past looks.

  This is a simple no eyeshadow look inspired by @theskinnyconfidential because I’m obsessed with her blog & podcast right now.  I love what she aims to do with her makeup- which is to lift everything. She has mentioned that she feels like eyeshadow weighs down her face, which I get if someone is putting way too much dark eyeshadow on half the lid or something. I tried out a no eyeshadow look and loved the fresh faced look it gave me. It was also a major time saver.

Of course I couldn’t help myself and put gold glitter in my inner corner… just a little!  I was also quite proud of myself for taking photos without lashes. Lashes look really nice in photographs but using the Loreal Voluminous mascara primer (white tube) is a great way to plump up my natural lashes. This step makes a huge difference, and I always use it on my bottom lashes when I am applying some false lashes.  This and the lip liner and lipstick combo really made the look.

Happy Monday!  I haven’t had many plans to go out and do anything lately, which kind of discourages me from doing makeup looks. A lot of the time I am photographing makeup looks that I’m practicing for something I plan on doing an upcoming weekend.

For this one I was inspired by the L’oreal Liquid Diamonds Infallible Shadow.  These eyeshadows are brilliantly pigmented and not mentioned enough.  The formula is super foiled and beautiful with just one swipe.  I like to wear them over a glitter primer and apply it with a damp brush to get the maximum pigment.  Loreal Liquid Diamond is my ideal gunmetal grey shade.  It has a little bit of purple in some light, but is mostly a perfect grey silver that perfectly complements a classic cool toned grey/ black smokey eye.  I added Stila Smoky Storm on top of the lid to give it more sparkle and I really like how this turned out.

There is a lot of great drugstore products in this look- I was making an effort to incorporate them in this look after I finished my eyeshadow. It’s a little more difficult for me to do fully affordable eye looks because my affordable eyeshadow singles are all mixed together in palettes with other brands and I use “high end” eyeshadow primer. I feel like I won’t get through the three tubes of eyeshadow primer that I currently have for another couple years at this rate.
