ArtVember Day 5: Seeker

Heeeello there! Today we have my FAVORITE Disney Parks character and a heckuva paleontologist, Dr. Grant Seeker!

Animal Kingdom's Dinosaur ride is one of my favorites and I'm really gong to miss it, but I think the most painful loss for me is gonna be this preshow. :'(

Now that Dinosaur is on its way out, we should really be pushing Disney to preserve this ride that so many of us love. The fossils and casts in the queue should really be preserved, not to mention the animatronics. All of them are pieces of Disney history. In particular, the Aladar animatronic should really be put in the Archives or something. But we know Disney won't do that, so fans should do it. Some of us should get together to get that animatronic out of there before the whole building is destroyed. Listen up: we’ve gotta get in, grab the iguanodon, and get out before that demolition hits. Let's roll!

One of the main reasons why I still enjoy this film. Also the Dinosaur ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom is a lot of fun!

Here it is! My archive of over 100 images related to the soon-to-be-extinct Dinosaur/Countdown to Extinction attraction at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I understand that they may not be the highest quality, and that there are some near-duplicates, but hopefully fans of the ride and fellow bloggers will find these helpful for remembering and digitally preserving their favorite attraction. I did try to get some things I thought might otherwise not be recorded, like floor/ceiling/wall textures and switchback dividers--I know from experience that "mundane" things like that are often overlooked.

The photos are all from June 2023, taken by me.

Okay so goal for this year - I'm trying to learn how to draw humanoids properly, and what better way to do it than draw your favorite little guy?

"In an update shared today, Disney provided new insight into the future of DINOSAUR at Animal Kingdom, suggesting the ride will remain operational through 2025 before closing permanently to make way for the Tropical Americas expansion.

The update encourages guests to experience the ride while they still can, stating: "While you're visiting, make sure you 'go get that dino' at DINOSAUR. We've previously shared this attraction will be closing to make way for the new Tropical Americas land – 2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!" In an infographic, Disney says "THROUGH 2025 Go get that dino ... before extinction."

This announcement marks the clearest indication yet that DINOSAUR will remain a part of Animal Kingdom's lineup throughout next year, giving fans more time to experience the thrill ride before its eventual transformation, with a closing date sometime in 2026. DINOSAUR has been a cornerstone of Animal Kingdom since the park's opening in 1998, immersing guests in a time-travel adventure to save an Iguanodon from extinction. As part of the broader reimagining of Dinoland U.S.A. into the Tropical Americas, the ride will eventually be replaced by a new Indiana Jones attraction, which Disney says will feature a journey through a newly discovered Maya temple. While demolition and construction are set to begin in parts of Dinoland U.S.A. as early as January 2025, this new update confirms that DINOSAUR will remain open for the time being, allowing fans one last opportunity to experience the prehistoric adventure." 🦖

@dreaming-in-seams absolutely despises Dr. Grant Seeker of the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom. And since the ride will be closing in the next year, I made her a shirt to commemorate her hatred of this beloved buffoon of an attractions host.
