Got Myself A Dino Tooth Necklace

The time has come to say goodbye to Dino Tooth. I have an appointment this Friday to have him extracted, along with my other two wisdom teeth. He's got a big cavity that could cause bigger problems, and with how the back side of him is hidden in my gum, I can't floss behind him to get food particles out.
I'm really nervous because they are going to do IV sedation, and I've never had any kind of IV run, ever. I have no reference for how it's going to feel when they stab me with it. I've never even been stung by a bee, so I don't even have that as a comparison...

I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out, but Darius isn't wearing his Dino tooth necklace in Chaos Theory.
Is that an aesthetic decision, or is there an in-lore reason for that?
I think this design choice was on purpose.
So... in a scrapped version of the original script.... there was this big reveal after he calmed the Pachyrhino down that he no longer liked dinosaurs the same way at ALL. It was actually the first thing I drew on the show:
But he had some crazy line like 'We both know you'd kill me in a heartbeat' or something and it was so over the top it always made everyone laugh (which wasn't the intention). It was decided this version was too melodramatic/the energy was wrong, so they redid how he was written/his acting in the first episode a few times until they found a sweet spot.
It was never meant to be explained why his necklace was missing, just implied.
#I think it could have been interesting if he had a more visible arc about being hesitant to enjoy dinosaurs the way he used to#but there's already so much going on in the final version of the show#I think it was correct to walk it back to something more subtle with mostly just the allosaurus#in the original he was so angsty I'm not sure if he would have been as fun to watch#having Darius put on an 'I'm okay really' face while visibly missing his carnivorous dino tooth necklace was a stronger choice I think#jurassic world chaos theory#jwct#jurassic world#chaos theory#darius bowman#storyboards#my art

🦖 #7 on our top 10 favorite finds of the year: this fossilized tooth from a Hell Creek tyrannosaur!!! Yours truly lucked out seeing this tooth sticking out root-first from a hillside in Hell Creek formation, South Dakota. Our dino dig in July was a fabulous and informative experience, and digging fossils from the last dinosaurs to walk the earth during the Late Cretaceous period was so cool. With research throughout the year, we’ve settled on this tooth most likely being from a Nanotyrannus, a smaller species of tyrannosaur with some marked differences from its bigger cousin Rex. (Debate rages in the scientific community about whether this distinct species of tyrannosaur is valid, or if it’s all juvenile T.Rex fossils; contemporary dino diggers lean toward the validity of the separate species.)
Long before I knew about minerals, I dreamt about being a paleontologist (Jurassic Park kid!), so this was a lifelong dream coming true for me. We can’t wait to return to Hell Creek formation! 🦖 #toptenfindsof2024 #dinosaurs #nanotyrannus #nanotyrannustooth #dinosaurtooth #jurassicparkkid #jurassicpark #dinosaurfossils #cretaceousdinosaurs #hellcreek #hellcreekformation #southdakota #phenomenalgems

Just added another super cool fossil to the collection! This genuine Plesiosaur tooth was found in Morocco and dates all the way back to the Cretaceous period. It’s also quite a large specimen, measuring almost 2.5” in length!
Plesiosaurs are often mistaken for dinosaurs, however these prehistoric creatures are actually part of a separate group known as "marine reptiles." They first evolved in the Triassic (208.5 MYA) and thrived until the massive KT extinction event caused by the Chicxulub asteroid. This took place at the end of the Cretaceous, and was the same extinction event that wiped out the non-avian dinosaurs (66 MYA). 💥🌊

Skylanders Headcanons, But It's Just (some of) my Faves
Dino-Rang
Has some of the best stories from his old days. Somebody would definitely be interested in hearing about them.
The reason why he hates being called a "dragon" was because of how his tribe made fun of him when he was younger. That's something he's sensitive about. Leave him be.
He holds a vendetta against wizards/witches/sorcerers, mostly because of the incident. Funnily enough, he does seem to get along with Voodood the Orc.
Because he's a dinosaur, he does get the urge to bite things. When he's especially upset, he does bite people. Usually he does keep this habit in check, sometimes gnawing on his boomerangs (it's weird, but it works).
Free Ranger
Surprisingly good with children. They always like to hang around him, due to his fun, adventurous persona. He's also extremely protective.
He and Stormblade were friends before the two became Skylanders. Free Ranger may or may not have been responsible for Stormblade's quest to find the bottom of Skylands. They're still relatively close, and the two have a mentor-apprentice type relationship.
He's also had his escapades with Jet-Vac (mostly, it was just Jet trying to make sure he didn't kill himself). Eon definitely put Jet-Vac in charge of watching over Free Ranger (or training him, depending on who you ask).
(Semi-Canon) Free Ranger dislikes enclosed spaces because he has to move. If he doesn't move for a small period of time, he would explode (figuratively, not literally).
Slobber Tooth
(Semi-Canon) He has a BIG appetite. If you aren't careful, he would raid your pantry. Maybe it's because he was sleeping for thousands of years.
(Semi-Canon) He isn't incredibly smart, but he also isn't dumb as bricks, either. He knows his own strength, and he also knows better not to eat the other Skylanders (from common sense, y'know).
His jaw is very strong, strong enough to chew through most metal, rocks, and... anything, really. Gotta get some iron in your diet somehow.
Snap Shot
Would (and probably has) wrestle with a Fire Viper when given the chance.
Very competitive, but he isn't a sore loser.
(Semi-Canon) He's extremely popular amongst all of the citizens of Skylands, and a lot of kids idolize him. However, he's very modest, and a little bit shy and bashful around his fans.
Him and Wolfgang have had their own fair share of... err, escapades. After Wolfgang was accepted as a Skylander, they both have a friendly rivalry, constantly trying to one-up eachother.
Stormblade
Stormblade's willingness to become a Skylander grew when she first met Jet-Vac when he visited her village. She was told that she would have to "be a bit older" before she could join. Soon after, Free Ranger took her under his wing (no pun intended) and helped train her into who she is.
She's a bit of a perfectionist, and is always trying to push herself. However, she's also incredibly wreckless, leading her to getting seriously hurt because she doesn't know her own limits.
She has a friendly rivalry with Spitfire, another daredevil.
Incredibly empathetic.
Thrillipede
Tells some of the stupidest, yet funniest jokes (dad jokes).
If you don't have a dad, he is your dad now. You have no choice in the matter.
While he doesn't look to be the type, he actually enjoys baking as a hobby. He makes a really good cheesecake.
(Semi-Canon) He and Buzz go way back, and by way back, I mean they were friends since high school. They were a force to be reckoned with, and they still talk about the old times together.

#thinking of dinosaurs and troodontids were my favorite dinosaurs as a child#when younger i had a real full troodontid tooth fossil that meant a lot to me#for a time we lived within a few kilometers of hadrosaur sites and troodontid sites#while wider general area had many sites of recovery for the big celebrities like tyrannosaur and multiple dromaeosaurs#at that time troodontids were kinda infamous for i think the depiction in some childrens field guides and dino books#which depicted like a fantasy speculative humanoid troodontid based on 1980s model at Canadian Museum of Nature in ottawa#anyway would visit a small local paleo center a lot and woman in her 70s or 80s ran the counter of their center and rock shop#one day she asked me what my fave dino was and i said troodon so she pulled out the tooth and just gifted it to me#in little black case size of ring box with padding and transparent plastic viewing cover kinda like laminate for displaying a trading card#tooth got stolen from out my vehicle while giving some people a ride while at university before i got too poor for tuition#later during first year of pandemic owner of my storage unit died and new property owners threw away everything i ever owned#i was homeless anyway lost job due to early pandemic closures and had to allocate any money to insulin and other prescrip meds#but wouldve found a way to save my things if the new owners had contacted me#they threw out photoalbums y backpacking gear y books y musical instruments y clothes y artwork y camera y all family keepsakes#and all childhood treasures like souvenirs and gifts and school awards and writing portfolios and all the little memories#which i was always sentimental about as child#from earliest age my room looked like a natural history museum with plants and maps and library of field guides#and rocks and field trip keepsakes and all kinds of little animal figurines and mother had painted room in forest greens and browns#to feel like a forest and among the succulent plants and a globe sat the troodon tooth#parents passed when i was a child#never near any family and were always moving never got to settle into proper stable place then father passed after long sad illness#and mother put in so much effort but she passed few years later and i could not take care of myself or my remaining material possessions#and so im still quite hurt having nothing whatsoever remaining of my childhood or school friends or mother or life generally#and when trying to process grief my thoughts often come back to the troodontid tooth as a focal point a distillation of what was lost#even when young i knew it was advised not to become too connected to material physical possessions#but still there are some small little trinkets in our lives that seem to hold so much meaning and i tortured myself for losing that tooth#thinking about troodon reminds me of childhood

I'm done! I survived! And look! I brought Dino Tooth home!
I will have to make him a prosthetic head because he had that big cavity and they had to cut it off.
Apparently I have small, curvy veins in my arms that like to roll away. They tried putting i in my forearm and inside of my elbow, but had to go with an iv in the back of my hand. You know what? I barely even felt it!
I'm going to go home and watch cartoons, cuddle with Tiny Cloud dragon, and go to sleep!

Flame Toys Go! Kara Kuri Power Rangers Dino Megazord
So much to say. Firstly, we've known about this toy since January of 2021. I remember being very excited at the initial reveal, because while it was the Dino Megazord, it was so hyper stylized and cool looking, that I would definitely own a second one for something like that. (Look at the pictures, then think about that statement for a second...)
But it wasn't until August of 2022 that it actually went up for order. And y'know what went up for order shortly before it? The ZAP Megazord. Good job communicating with your third party developers Hasbro. But I was still way more interested in this one. I even had $300 set aside to buy it. But when it went up for order, it was over $400, and I realized that I could be both the ZAP Megazord and the newly unveiled ZAP Dragonzord for less than it combined, which is how I ended up owning them... And then I caved and preordered it anyway.
But we're not done, because this thing was originally supposed to release in June of 2023. But it got delayed. And again. And again. It had multiple production delays that set it back until the last day of February 2024 (thank goodness it was a leap year). And the whole thing just got me feeling a little... jaded. I just felt like I had waited for so long, and that it had been delayed so many times, that I just didn't think it was ever going to come out.
But when I finally got that email saying it had shipped, I let out an audible gasp. The next two days we me antsily waiting for it to get here. And when it did, everything was, like, "they did that?" "Wait, they thought of that?" "That transforms, too?" It was a magical experience I haven't felt since Glacialord. So let's get to why this toy makes me feel like that:
The Good: Where to start? The T-Rex, I suppose. It puts the other three I have to shame. It GaoGaiGar's the legs, so they're able to have more articulation than the others, which fold the legs up onto the back of the thigh. It has pretty decent ankles, fully posable arms, the robot's waist, and a tail with a ton of universal joints in it (not balls, like ZAP Dragonzord). The tail can even expand and compress at every joint. Its only part with subpar articulation is the head, but that's only due to all the transforming it has to do, and even then it's still a great, unique sculpt.
If you've handled the ZAP or Lucky Cat mastodons, you'll understand what they tried to do with this interpretation, but it's just a bit more and feels a bit better. Like, it can balance on its back legs, its front toes can articulate, the trunk has a ton of joints. Its definitely the most brickish of the set, but I can't imagine giving it, say, a neck joint without encumbering it. And speaking of neck, the new head position gives it such a great identity that sets it apart from its predecessors.
The triceratops has legs! But if that's not your thing, they can flip around to reveal those usual treads. Those tiny legs are also very strong, and quite posable. Definitely the second-most brickish, but that's saying a lot considering how many poses you can get it into with what it has.
I find it really hard to get good looking quadruped articulation, but the saber-tooth tiger nails it. Pounce pose, run pose, (I haven't tried sit pose yet) any pose you can put it in looks great. It also has a really emotive neck, which helps a lot.
And the pterodactyl has the biggest glow-up. It has an actual neck like an actual pteranodon! And that head on top is very articulated, giving it a lot of emotiveness. Those wings are also very articulated, and having the hip skirt serve as actual feet makes it feel like such a better package than even the Lucky Cat's version, with the double ptera that mostly ends up as a backpack.
And onto the transformation, it's not actually that complicated. Its big thing is it has a lot of locks all over the toy to prevent certain joints from moving in different modes, but it doesn't take long to realize "if it doesn't move, look for a lock." And there are so many weird and cool transformation bits, like how the head assembles, the T-Rex's nose compressing, the mastodon toes becoming the elbow guards, the shield actually transforming, etc. It's fun.
Now, before we get to the main attraction, lets pivot and talk about the tank mode real quick. There's quite a bit of dedicated engineering for just this mode, with there being a slide in the legs, cuts in the hips, dedicated parts in the T-Rex chest and mastodon head, etc. Also, credit to this one over the others, the pterodactyl really brings it together.
And the actual Megazord is so well engineered. When combined, it feels like a solid piece; I'm not really worried about it falling apart, or untransforming as I play with it. All those locks really do make a ton of difference. And it's incredibly posable. I never had any trouble getting it into the pose I wanted; wings were super smooth to work with, arms never fought me to do anything, ankles are good, tail caused a few problems but only because I was trying not to poke my monitor. And that's the most amazing thing about this toy; that it is a toy. This isn't just some big display piece, it's playable, it's fun, and that's what probably surprised me the most about the whole experience. I was expecting to be scared that I'd shatter this thing if I looked at it funny, but it's just a super solid toy.
And everything is very self-contained, like the original. There's no extra hands, no adapters, no weird super-complex dismantling going on. The guns don't store (from what I've found), but apart from them, there are no spare parts. Heck, even the sword stores away. The sword. It's exceedingly impressive what this accomplishes.
The Bad: Two things. One, some of my glue didn't set? The front of the T-Rex pelvis, and the back of one of my hands both pop off. These aren't super important, load bearing areas or anything; I can glue them myself and they'll be right-as-rain, but I worry about other people where maybe more important areas didn't set right? Hopefully this is a rare issue and never on anywhere important.
And second it the saber-tooth tiger bit me, and it drew blood. Like, it's the next day and I can still see the mark. I also tried to set him on my lap, and his tail poked me right in the ouch. Very spiky, very pointy, be aware.
The Next: When this went up for preorder, they did also show off their grey prototype for a Go! Kara Kuri Dragonzord. And I think the only other time they've mentioned it was when that same proto showed up at a toy show. I follow them on The Twiblies, and they talk about this line maybe once a year, if that, so my hopes are not high that we'll ever get it. But after handling this, I do hope it eventually comes out. Heck, with how much work I've been putting into redesigning Titanus, this feels like the company that might actually do something interesting with it, besides the mono-boot.
Overall, I cannot sing enough high praises about this release. It's a beautiful, well engineered, very playable toy. It is incredibly expensive, though. I just hope that if you walk away from this review with anything, it's that if you do bite the bullet, you'll be getting your money's worth.

“Did You Just Propose to me with Crochet Dinosaurs?”
Just a little Drabble for @fyeahjurassicocs Jurassic Pride Month featuring two of my Jurassic World OCs (whom I really need to get around to writing more 😭). This is just for fun/practice with them and many of the prompts so far have been interesting, so might as well jump in. (I'm late, I'm so very sorry ;-;) Sooooo… Enjoy!
Prompt: Day 1- Jurassic World Pride Parade
“Danny! Take a look at this!”
Jordan turned away from the vibrant collage of colors parading down Times Square. The sounds of the crowd deafened her senses, but she was able to detect her girlfriend’s voice anywhere.
Natalie stood a few feet away at one of the nearby Pride market booths with a giddy look on her face. She had decided to go all out for the New York Pride festival, an uncommon contrast from her rather modest clothing. Her black curls were done up in a high bun and her face was adored with intricate flowers and star designs painted with blues, purples, and pinks. She had on a flowery blue top with faux flowers on the collar and a purple and pink ombré petticoat.
Jordan on the other hand was blanketed in a lesbian flag that doubled as a cape. Her brown hair was pulled into a ponytail and held tight with a pink flower clip. Natalie had painted a heart on her cheek and applied a smoky eye shadow look for extra flair that Jordan was careful not to smudge despite her aversion to makeup. The colors framed her like the setting sun itself.
She ducked and weaved through the crowd towards her girlfriend. Natalie spun to face her with a wide grin. In her palms was a tiny crocheted hadrosaurus crafted in various shades of orange, white, and pink. “It’s a… ‘Lesbeosaurus.’ Get it? Because it’s a Lambeosaurus?”
Jordan chuckled as Natalie placed it in her palms. She gave it a little scratch on the head, fondly reminiscing on the times she had raised infant dinosaurs after they had been birthed from the hatchery. Despite the fall of Jurassic World, she still missed the dinosaurs on the island dearly. Especially Indie. How was the Indominus Rex doing, anyways?
“It’s adorable, Nat,” was all she said as she forced the thoughts away.
“And this one too,” Natalie added, reaching over to pluck a crocheted Dilophosaurus from its stand. “A Bi-lophosaurus… Do we need these? Or… DO we need these?” She smirked.
Jordan reached up and placed the hadrosaur on her shoulder like it was her mini partner in crime. “I think I’ve learned now not to let you run off on your own during a pride parade. Our wallets will thank us later once we ditch the market.”
Natalie gave a mock pout as she held her Dilophosaurus up to her head. “Oh, come on. It’s just one purchase.”
“You said that at the last four booths we went to,” Jordan snorted with a smile. Natalie had swore to her that the beaded necklace sporting the bi flag’s colors and a rainbow blanket for the apartment was a necessity, not a want. And of course a pride flag for the balcony, because their resident canine and feline had a habit on chewing on anything they could sink their teeth into and Natalie wasn’t about to let them tarnish something so important during pride month. Which, naturally, led to Natalie purchasing collars and toys for their ‘fur babies’. Jordan needed to pull her out of the market fast, before she blew their life savings in one day.
“This is perfect for your locker at work and my office at the vet,” Natalie claimed, already pulling out some cash from her purse. Before Jordan could stop her, the transfer was complete. If anyone was more stubborn than her, it would be Natalie-- though others had stated she was a lot more calm and collected about it like a forest stream while Jordan's emotions tended to crackle off her like a firework.
“There. Now we have two new buddies for our collection,” Natalie smiled, nudging her on the shoulder. As if either of them needed more dinosaur merchandise, they’d already gotten far too many memorabilia from their time working at Jurassic World.
Jordan smiled and reached up on her tiptoes. Natalie stood a full foot taller than her. It annoyed her to no end that she was the "small girlfriend". It annoyed her even more that Natalie occasionally liked to sweep her up bridal style when she was annoyed or flustered to calm her down. Well, that second part didn't annoy her truthfully, but no one else but Nat needed to know that!
She put her Lambeosaurus in front of Natalie's Dilophosaurus and made the two plushies give each other a swift peck on the cheek. “There. Now they’re dating. Like us.”
Natalie set her hand in Jordans as the two headed back into the throng of people. The roar of the crowd nearly drowned out their words, but Jordan could undeniably hear Natalie’s comment. “Dating? No, they’re engaged.”
Jordan’s head whipped toward her girlfriend as a blush crept across her cheeks. Natalie was suddenly down on one knee, diamond ring in hand. The paleo veterinarian seemed flustered, her usual collected exterior flooded with anxiety as she awaited a response.
Jordan was momentarily stunned and unable to cling to any thought spiraling through her head. It was really happening? Here? Right now? She wasn’t dreaming this, was she?
Her heart felt light for the first time in several years. She lunged forward, nearly tackling Natalie to the ground. Taking that as an acceptance, Natalie began to laugh. Jordan laughed with her as they held one another in a gentle embrace.
