Grateful to BFI and Ajay Singh for helping me, says ailing boxer Dingko Singh - Times of India
NEW DELHI: Asian Games gold-medallist boxer Dingko Singh, who has been ailing with liver cancer, expressed his gratitude for all the help extended by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and president Ajay Singh for bringing him down to Delhi from Manipur for his treatment.
Dingko was airlifted from Imphal to the national capital for his liver cancer treatment on Saturday.
Appreciating BFI and its president’s efforts, Dingko expressed his feelings from the hospital bed in a video message,”I wanted to come to Delhi for the treatment but couldn’t due to the lockdown. I went into depression since I couldn’t come (from) time-to-time whenever doctors asked me to come down.”
“I am grateful to BFI and especially Ajay Singh who understood my problem and immediately sent an air ambulance to facilitate my travel. The moment I heard the news I became half fit in Manipur itself,” Dingko further said.

Dingko’s transfer to Delhi by a Spicejet air ambulance was facilitated by the BFI after he missed a scheduled radiation therapy session due to the ongoing coronavirus-forced national lockdown.
The 41-year-old was due to undergo radiation therapy a fortnight back but could not come to Delhi because of the lockdown.
BFI president Ajay Singh, who is also the chairman and managing director of SpiceJet, personally took the initiative to fly out Dingko after learning about his deteriorating health.
