Meet Tamandani Nsaliwa (Tamandani Wazayo Phillip "Tam" Nsaliwa), a Malawi-Canadian football player. For the last 13 years he has been playing for the Greek football team A.E.K.

Some months ago he chose to express his love for A.E.K. with a song he had written himself. As an English speaker, his low level of Greek didn't allow him to write the lyrics directly in Greek. And since he was a small project, he didn't turn to Greek speakers for help. He turned to Google translate. For the whole song.

This lead to some... unfortunate Englishisms, which made the song go viral in Greek social media. The video has half a million views as of today.

Tamandani's lyrics said "my squad goes too hard" but this phrase doesn't literally exist in Greek. He put it anyway. The text was "omada pai poly sklira" but when he sung it and when he wrote the lyrics on screen the phrase was "omada mou pei poly sklira" which means "my team's dicks [are] very hard".

Another phrase he wanted to translate was "back to back", which also doesn't exist in Greek. But Google Translate gave him a direct translation of it which is "piso, apo piso". A loose translate of this, especially because of the placement of this phrase in the song, is "they take it from behind".

Fortunatelly for us, the song is bop, so everyone can happily sing "MY TEAM'S DICKS ARE HARD!!!"

Tamandani Nsaliwa is a very jolly and chill man so he made another song responding to the unfortunate wording of his previous song. Here he is, explaining how this song came to be! (It's in English with Greek subs).
