So I finished Digimon World Re:Digitize! The PsP one I dont have a PC that can work with 3DS stuff.
And I reaaaaalllyyyy enjoyed it. It really felt like I was exploring File Island and meeting actual digimon with their lives and everything! And the way you work your way up to having the town be as full of digimon as possible and the quality of stuff there increased? Amazing stuff, felt really rewarding!
It has some issues but its not really fair to complain because Decode fixed tons of this stuff, so in the end I had (sadly) to play the inferior version.
And Vitium? Really cool!!!! I loved everything about them, and the final talk with them was extremely cool. This specific dialogue catched my attention and is one of my favourites in the franchise
I feel you Vitium.
I liked this experience, now I want to play Digimon World Next Order, I know it's not as "WOAH SO GOOD" as this one but the quality of life will help me enjoy it a lot

Hold up: why TF are *human-shaped* programs cultivating the chosen digitama and their bonding widgets when this setting's already established 'mon nurseries? It's not like there aren't a solid handful of digimon with the proper anatomy (or even better in Nanomon's case) if they absolutely needed consoles & IT crap.
Where exactly Gennai and the... other humanoids of his kind... come from is a good question.
I think in 02 when there's a bunch of them they're all considered to be Gennai. But in the flashback, Piemon exclaims "Gennai!" when he sees our boi, as if that were his name and not the Kind Of Thing that he is. So IDK. Maybe Gennai was the sole survivor but reproduced through asexual division following the events of the first series.
He's a lump of data in the shape of a human; That is entirely possible.
One thing that struck me as interesting here is that this episode disproved two separate claims I've made about why Taichi's Agumon can't be the same as Hikari's Koromon.
1 - Hikari's Koromon died in the fight with Parrotmon. No he did not! We explicitly see Hikari's Greymon being taken through the portal with Parrotmon, so he returned to the Digital World. This also spares him from a plot point 02 will later introduce, that any Digimon who died in the human world has their data trapped there and can never re-enter the Digitama reincarnation cycle.
2 - Taichi's Agumon was created from his data. Also false! I remembered the Digitama, Digivices, and Crests all being made from the children's data, but that isn't so. The Digivices and Crests are, but Homeostasis never said anything about where the Digitama came from.
There is no reason to believe they are anything but ordinary Digitama which were plucked out of nursery somewhere and then linked up with the Digivices and Crests to make them Partner Digimon.
So, in fact, Tri confidently asserting that the two are the same is not a retcon; It is entirely possible for Taichi's Agumon and Hikari's Koromon to be the same. I was wrong.

RE: CONNECT -- relationship chart.
Rui â Alleged 1st Chosen Child (1996); partner: Ukkomon
Daisuke â Chosen Child from April 2002; partner: V-mon
Ayame â Chosen Child from September 2003; partner: Cutemon
Daisuke is connected to the 02 group + Chosen Children Network
Rui â Ayame â Hiroomi: Childhood friends since kindergarten (They lost contact with Rui since March 2003)
Daisuke â Rui: Friends since 2012 (Rui might have a crush on him?)
Daisuke â Hiroomi: Some sort of coworkers (Hiroomi is a delivery boy who sometimes stops by Yamatoya Ramen either for work or to chill. He knows Daisuke, but not enough).
[edit] Profiles ahead:
Ohwada Rui [ 性ćç°ă«ă€ ] â The alleged first Chosen Childrenâs origins, 20 years old. With a very troublesome childhood, he managed to solve his issues with Ukkomon on his birthday, Feb 29, thanks to Daisuke and the others. Now he lives a normal yet calm life with Ukkomon. Due to a certain incident in March 2003 he had avoided human contact in fear of being called a âfreakâ, making his relationships with people quite difficult. Heâs trying his best to form new bonds, but with no success. He works at Infinity Cafe, a coffee shop owned by his cousin and her husband, as a barista.
Ukkomon [ ăŠăăłăąăł ] â Ruiâs digimon partner, and allegedly to be connected to something bigger like a god entity from the Digital World. Despite all the slips committed by him, Rui made amends with him and then both then started to work harder to get to know each other better. He is still learning what he is allowed to do and what not.
Nakajima Ayame [ äžćł¶ăăă ] â Ruiâs childhood friend and a Chosen Child from September 2003. She is a 20 year old nice girl who doesnât like to watch people getting into fights, so she keeps wishing to be able to have something in hands that could heal people. With this in mind, she decided to pursue a medical career â at least something little and not big, something like being a nurse to assist people in need, taking care of them. Before Ukkomon, she was a little nervous to talk with Rui, because he would always be the target of the bullies and she feared getting involved in those fights. But once Ukkomon appeared, she witnessed that strange creature standing up for Rui⊠She got courage enough to talk with him, and become one of his first friends at the kindergarten. She would always be carrying a first aid kit with her in her young days, helping Rui and Hiroomi. She might not like ugly fights, but she can stand up for others a little once she has gotten older, and she keeps simply checking on others like a good friend. She still uses pigtails, even if lower now as an adult.
Cutemon [ ăă„ăŒăăąăł ] â Ayameâs digimon partner. Cutemon is a digimon whoâs not a fighter and yes a healer. Cutemon never managed to evolve but she does not feel sheâs the type to fight tough enemies, so she sticks by just healing everyone with her healing magic skills. Sheâs quite timid and resembles the child Ayame to some extent, but the difference is she doesnât fear befriending others when she gets an interest in them and is willing to form connections.
Koyama Hiroomi [ ć°ć±±ćșèŁ ] â Rui and Ayameâs childhood friend, 20 year old. Hiroomi is a good, funny and supportive friend type, but he had some issues of being a little coward. He could witness Rui getting bullied and would want so hard to go there and stop them, but his body would just freeze and he couldnât even say anything. Yeah he had the trouble of not being able to help others due to fear. Ukkomon worked as some sort of role model to go and make a difference. He wouldnât get into a fist fight with anyone, but he would simply call them out and keep cheering Rui up. His funny aura was quite captivating too, and he definitely noticed he and Rui had something in common which was them being quite non-confrontational, except Hiroomi was able to voice his needs and feelings quite better than Rui. When Rui suddenly stopped going to school in March 2003, he tried to ask everyone around about his friend, with Ayameâs help too, and this is how they learned by rumors that something had happened to Rui. But he and Ayame never had success in contacting Rui for a long LONG time. When he turned an adult he decided to dye his bangs, and adopted a more stylish appearance. He doesnât know what he wants to pursue as a career, but his part-time job is just being a delivery boy. He likes vehicles though, and his scooter is his best friend (besides Ayame, of course).
Motomiya Daisuke [ æŹćźźć€§èŒ ] â A 21 year old Chosen Child from April 2002 who saved the world countless times at the moment. He became Ruiâs friend in 2012, when the mysterious giant egg incident happened. Daisuke is not that smart, but he has a heart of gold, and the ability to say some insightful things from time to time. Heâs a pragmatic person, doesnât think too hard on stuff and is always trying to help everyone in need. Daisuke works at Yamatoya Ramen and is allowed to run his own business â Motomiya Ramen â there on Tuesdays. He knows Hiroomi as a coworker of sorts, since Hiroomi is a delivery boy who goes to Yamatoya Ramen either for work or to chill on his days off. Even though their relationship is professional and they don't know much about each other.
V-mon [ ăă€ăąăł ] â Daisukeâs digimon partner and business partner. V-mon is not much different from Daisuke, and heâs very much in sync with his human partner. V-mon loves chocolate, which makes Rui always spoil him with anything chocolate-flavored when Daisuke and V-mon drop by at the cafe.Â

{D I G I M O N} Adventure ~ Ep. 24 {Original J.P.N Version} + KOUSHIRO & MOTIMON x 0801 COUNT-DOWN
"You look like a {small} {B A B Y} 'Mon {that you Are} when you're held like that {by Koushiro}!" - Tsunomon
Digimon Partners Official Twitter, (dm_partners on Twitter) is beginning a countdown for 0801âs Adventure PV 2k24!
Today, Koushiro and "Motimon" {Mochimon} are previewed! {This art originally revealed/shown Jul. 26th, 2k24 for 080124} What is interesting about this one is the art is clearly referenced from Adventure #24, but the scene is supposed to be showing the mains meeting their partners during the events of Ep. 01.
In my personal view, this is Fitting for Koushiro regardless. Before people claim this makes Koushiro "out of character", I'd like to point out Koushiro's genuine care and concern towards Mochimon above, even when Koushiro was very likely achy and waking up from passed-out condition in Adv 24.
Koushiro is showing compassion towards Mochimon in this "new"-old scene because Koushiro is and always was caring and compassionate, even if Koushiro doesn't always show it well at first. (+This is 5 whole episodes before we even learn Koushiro's backstory about Koushiro being CANON A D O P T E D.)
Personally, my favorite interactions between them was actually also from the (if condensed) official Novel version, (also written by Hiroyuki Kakudou and Koushiro's main script-writer, Hiro Masaki, who also contributed at least 1/3rd of the amount) and even there, by the time they began walking, Koushiro was actively asking Mochimon "all sorts" of "{Q U E S T I O N S}" about the Digital World and the true nature of those living there.

This incident has been happening in Japan for several days. Because the production team's speech issue has angered all fans. A few days ago, Japanese loyal fans began to boycott the the movie version and have been scolding it for several days. Because according to the interview, they don't really want Taichi and his Digimon back. Today, Mr. Kakudou, the director of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, also released the settings for the ending of 02.
Chat room about the Digimon movie and 02TVâs final reply As part of the promotion for the Digimon movie that is currently being released, a conversation between Digimon's monster designer and the producer of the movie, Digimon Adventure at the time, was released in a Twitter chat room. The purpose of this article is not to discuss the content of the film. In part of the chat room conversation, the producer (hereinafter referred to as P) made such a statement. Although not completely accurate, the general idea is: "In the final chapter of Digimon Adventure 02, the protagonists have grown up and their children have gathered together. Before that, children with partner Digimon from all over the world will also appear one after another, but looking at the world in recent years situation, I began to think that those children would later be involved in conflicts in various places and their lives would not be peaceful.â As for how this is connected to this movie, letâs not talk about it for now.
The final chapter of Digimon Adventure 02, especially the scenes 25 years after the production in 2002, is said to be as if the number of years in between was not considered at all, but in fact this is not the case. I think based on what I still remember Write these down. The process leading up to this scene was discussed with the script writers including the series director, but it was said that they had not been considered at all and were not polite to the other script writers. So let me write a little bit about what exactly I considered and how long I thought about it. First of all, based on the setting of the previous TV anime Digimon Adventure, human children and digital monsters will become partners. This number will double every year. The stage of the previous work was also 1999, which was the year of the real-time screening. The number was 8, which were the protagonists of the show. In "02", which was set in 2002, there should be 64 people becoming new partners, and 3 of them became the protagonist team of the show. In the climax of the final episode, children with partner Digimon from all over the world gathered together, totaling more than 100 people. The exact total is slightly less than everyone, as there must have been some people who were unable to participate for some reason at that time.
Based on this premise, 25 years later, not only children, but all humans, including adults, have Digimon partners. So what happens during this process? Having a partner Digimon means that it will need corresponding living space and food for at least as long as that Digimon exists in the real world. Some abilities may be quite dangerous. This is fine when the numbers are small, but once the number reaches a certain level, they may become targets of discrimination and segregation, and of course there will also be motivations for military use. In fact, conflicts and disputes occur all the time in the world. Even if this were not the case, there are still many areas in the world that are dangerous just to live in. Children with partner Digimon will be in great danger. This extends all the way to adults and even affects the way religions exist, a process that cannot always be peaceful throughout the world. It is foreseeable that even from the perspective of a relationship with the digital world that is almost the same as the real world, this may shake the stability of culture, country, etc. Why do we still need to increase the number of people who have partner Digimon despite this? That is the relationship between human evolution and Digimon. I have said it before in an interview or in an online discussion. In short, after experiencing these global dangerous situations, finally 25 years later, the partner Digimon spread to everyone in the world, which made it possible for the protagonists to meet in peace after a long absence. This is the last scene. It would be extremely difficult to describe just a small part of the process, and the plot would become very heavy, so I chose to use narration to simply describe "this road is not smooth." I think that's as far as it can go for a Sunday morning children's show. So what are the protagonists doing during this period? I also thought about it some.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the number of children with partner Digimon began to increase at an accelerated rate, and the protagonists could not remain idly by as they fell into danger. What begins as a campaign to protect the children could turn into a global run. They may be involved in various conflicts. Taichi, who has a high enough ability to overcome dangers, plays the role of solving the situation starting from local areas in this situation. Twenty-five years later, the profession that marks Taichi as an adult is diplomat, but that is not a profession limited to one country, just because I cannot find a good enough word to describe a person who stands for freedom and wants to bring peace and friendship. Due to his busy activities in many fields, he got married and had children later than his junior Daisuke, so Taichi's child in the final scene is almost the youngest. The last picture should let people understand that there is such a thinking experience behind it.
Also write about other charactersâ situations. Not long ago, when the Partner Digimon spread to all humans and actually resolved many disputes, people began to study the cause of all this. Of course, Koushirou is also one of them. As evolution is understood more and more, the obstacles that stand in the way of evolution come to light. For example, this is also the reason why the Dark Masters are extremely powerful, and this is also briefly mentioned in the novel version of Digimon Adventure. However, where does the force that hinders evolution come from? It seems to come from extraterrestrial sources. In order to find out the reason, we first needed to investigate the moon, so Yamato and Gabumon were chosen. Unlike ordinary investigations, no one knows the dangers of forces that impede evolution. Not all Digimon that become human partners can evolve into a complete Ultimate form. Digimon must have high combat capabilities and rich experience, and they must not be too big to be transported to the universe. In some cases, they must be able to travel in space. activities, so Yamato, who has such a Digimon as his partner, is one of the first suitable candidates. On the moon, Yamato said, "Next time it will be Jupiter." This was a tribute to "2001: A Space Odyssey" and wanted to show that this part is all about evolution. Before graduating from medical school, Joe senpai was responsible for the rear support of Taichi and the others, and participated in the activities of Doctors Without Borders in both the real world and the digital world. Sora, Mimi, and Hikari's final career was to ask female script writers to provide opinions. Before that, they must have supported them in the areas they were good at, such as the clothing and food of the children they were responsible for protecting. Among the juniors who were still students when Taichi and his friends officially started their activities, there was Daisuke who still wanted to eat delicious food everywhere. In response to the increasing number of crimes involving Digimon every year, Ken volunteered to join the police Digimon Countermeasures Section established at that time in order to prevent others from making the same mistakes he made. Watching Ken's activities, Iori realized that there was more to evil than just hatred, so he became a lawyer. Miyako and Takeru also have many other things to do, so they will wait for another opportunity to talk about it. We considered these plot points before finalizing the script. When I was working on the previous film that is now being released, I gave the producers a few months of handouts and simulations of who would be doing what in the 2010s, as well as simulations of the world situation, but none of it was used in the end. . seki P, who was talking in the chat room, was also present at the time. He must have heard that I said that the world would not be peaceful. Didnât he remember it? As I said before, the purpose of this article is just to make it clear that the final scene of Episode 02 was made with many factors in mind. How the subsequent films were made is irrelevant. Maybe I will write more about Digimon Adventure and 02 at that time, but that's it for now.

I've been on a real comic book kick lately. I'm mostly fixated on Batman at the moment ( his partner would totally be Cyberdramon btw, maybe tukaimon as the rookie stage ) but it got me thinking about how id love to see more collaboration between the western comics scene and the japanese manga scene, we've got a Naruto meets Ninja Turtles crossover coming soon, DC and Marvel already dabbled in manga and anime versions of their stuff, and we have various netflix adaptations of anime, and a few movies. Admittedly, I wish when it came to the western side of things, we'd stop doing so much live action and start doing animation and comics.
I'm getting rambling a little off topic here. It led me to think back, and I swear I have a memory of manga releasing as single floppy issues on american comic book racks. I distinctly remember Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Pokemon Adventures, and The Electric Tale of Pikachu all releasing each chapter as a single stand alone comic book. I just can't seem to find any evidence of this... but tell you what I do remember though...
These western adaptations of the Digimon Anime, mostly just a 1:1 recration, hand drawn, rather than, whatchacallem, those "Cinemangas" that used to take up space on the shelf at Borders.
Look at these fucking covers.
I love them so much. The composition of each one really has the attention grabbing energy that so many comics on store shelves had to have at the time. Although only 12 issues were published in the west, it looks like other territories got the whole she-bang, and even Adventure 02, Frontier, and Tamers got comics.
I'd love to see these all re-released in glorious full color, even if it's only digitally... however, we all know that's never going to happen. I'm sure these comics are wrapped in all kinds of legal red tape and Bandai probabl doesn't even know they exist.
That being said...
it would be so cool to see a brand new ongoing comic book in the west set in the world of Digimon. I know the western comic book scene has it's issues but one thing they do very well is explore an established canon from all sorts of different angles. And the best part is, purists who don't want this, don't have to read it.
And I'd kind of like a Tamagotchi comic too, that's kind of what I thought that "time travel" shell was at first, but alas. And I think that's even less likely than a Digimon Dark Horse reprint, because.. well I don't think a tamagotchi comic would sell even a little. We can't even get the anime subbed and fans aren't interested. No chance a comic book could happen.

so, apparently there's plenty of death symbolism/metaphors surrounding, are you interested in elaborating that? including "indirect" death like spiritual death, character assassination or death of identity, somethjng along those lines?
- death symbolism surrounding Taichi, sorry, somehow I pressed ask , sorry for my blunder
It's fine, no worries, I already assumed that it was referring to Taichi! If you think about it, several characters in Digimon Adventure have been dealing with the subject of "death" one way or another, most in direct association with someone (human or Digimon) close to them.
Now, if we look at our favourite main character, riddled with traumatic childhood experiences and questionable coping mechanisms, there is a bunch of instances where he had to deal with the potential of death happening in front of him or CAUSING death himself - either to others or himself -, so it should not be surprising that, at some point, he may have dissociated himself (mostly subconsciously, I'd say) from being a Chosen Child. Whiiiich may or may not have led to Kizuna's events, but yeah, it's count the instances first, shall we. TW: death, mental health.
The whole Hikarigaoka incident: While Hikari was scared too, she was still much younger than him and couldn't grasp the implications of what was happening there, while Taichi did EVERYTHING in his power to protect her and himself from not getting crushed by the two Kaijus in front of them.
Him almost causing Hikari to die due to his (still existing) sense of childlike innocence: Yes, she was sick, but he thought she was already on the way to recovery and only took her to play football to cheer her up. That's where he first had to face that good intentions don't always lead to positive outcomes...
The SkullGreymon fiasco: Again, he intended to do good for the sake of the group, but overlooked the bigger picture and became reckless, thus causing his partner to evolve into a literal symbol of death and decay in the process. Something that may have happened to the ENTIRE group if the Digimon hadn't run out of energy...
The electrical fence and its aftermath: This one has several follow-up points, but I still think it's suitable to summarize them all here - first of all, there is him being confronted with the idea of actually dying by getting electrocuted after he was 100% convinced that nothing they did mattered, since they were "just data in a computer". Once again, he was being reckless and careless - not only did it lead to almost killing himself, but in extension, also dooming Sora, whom he failed to save. Overcoming his cowardice, finding his own sense of courage eventually led to victory - but also led to him disappearing and roughly 50% of the remaining group ended up thinking that he had actually died in the process. Meanwhile, he was back in the real world and had to choose between saving only himself, or everyone else as well... And we all know how the answer to this turned out to be.
Him almost causing Hikari to die AGAIN: Of course there have been several instances of death before and after they re-entered the Digital World again, leading to the eventual "fallout" between Taichi and Yamato in regards to how they should deal with the immediate danger at hand... But the most devastating instance here was Taichi reliving his early childhood trauma, fearing that, by taking Hikari with them, he made the same mistakes again, acting thoughtlessly, not considering the circumstances... He has been acting self-sacrificial for the sake of the group before, but it's this arc that shows that he is actually ready to die if he can at least manage to save everyone else in the process (hence why he ended up fighting with Koushirou as well, because Taichi forbade him from taking on any pain himself and Koushirou was having none of it).
Let's not forget that, during the events of Our War Game - and all the follow-up movies, especially Diablomon Strikes Back -, he was also under immense pressure: To save the entirety of Tokyo from getting blown up by a missile and every other side-effect that Diablomon may have caused in traffic or elsewhere... And once again, his own hotheadedness may almost have caused his partner to get killed, to the sense of guilt plays a huge role in here as well...
02 portrays Taichi as matured, it showed that, while he still occasionally needs to get reminded of it, he KNEW that he has to make uncomfortable decisions sometimes; of course he almost despaired when his partner was being captured and corrupted, but he also realized that he may have had to sacrifice him for the greater good; he needed to remind Hikari that the new kids never had to deal with the same kind of death exposure before, but warned her - with quite a grim, but serious expression - that they would have to face it eventually. He grew aware of their duty throughout all this time, through all these experiences, and it's not pretty, but at this point, he was still ready to act.
Tri picks that point of the story back up again by mirroring Meiko's fate with his own - at least to some degree. Once more, they had to face the possibility of having to kill a beloved partner Digimon and at this point, Taichi was questioning whether or not recklessly sacrificing infrastructure and lives for the sake of fighting was the "right way" to deal with everything. It may have felt a bit like recycled conflict at this point, but it's been several years by now, and Taichi is, overall, contemplating his life choices, contemplating his diplomatic future, the status quo AND his "duty" as Chosen Child.
It's through the course of Tri that he: Watched parts of the city get destroyed ONCE AGAIN, almost died through the course of several fights and an earthquake-like blow, had to witness his teacher - whom he greatly looked up to - sacrifice himself, covered in wounds and blood, to save him AND their missing friends... And all that after Daigo told him that they lied to protect them and that he should move on and create a better future... Thus, Taichi decided to go for the kill again. Again, he didn't like it, again, he got reminded by Hikari of all people how terrible it all is, but he knew that he had to.
Kizuna chose a similar premise to Meiko's once again - first of all, if we look at everything above, is it really a wonder that Taichi probably developed some fatigue? We all know, see, can tell how much he loves Agumon - hence why he did end up horrified by the prospect of losing him. And as I pointed out before, he did use the fighting for the sake of having a purpose, because... Who else was he if he couldn't "lead" anyone anymore?
And since the rest of his young adult life was pretty directionless... Can you really blame him for it? The amount of nightmares, the tiredness, the PTSD the previous experiences may have caused in him could never be treated by a "normal" therapist - who could ever relate to all of these things that sound incredibly supernatural and like nothing an adolescent should have shouldered all by himself? Heck, he isn't even able to talk to his friends about it at all (even if stageplay!Agumon told him to!), just swallowing it all by himself, dealing with the thought spiraling in his head on his own.
Hearing Menoa tell him that she lost her partner, making it all sound like a huge punishment for making the wrong choices... It may have rang several alarm bells in Taichi. How often must he have dreaded making the wrong choices? How much guilt must he have felt for the sake of Hikari, Meiko, Daigo, everyone he temporarily let down by hesitating or acting out in the wrong moment, let it be Yamato, Sora, Koushirou, Daisuke... Now there's this young woman who asked him to figure out a way to fix a problem she couldn't herself, a problem that may separate him from his soulmate forever and for what? Because he grew unsure of himself, because he faltered, because looking at all his friends, who found their paths, had become painful and tiring. Because, even after coming to temporary answers, he didn't know who he was and who he wanted to be anymore.
He had to choose to fight so many times, he sacrificed himself as much as he could. Then there was the prospect of fighting Menoa with two possible outcomes: losing would lead to his own death (or "loss of self" since he would have his consciousness be trapped forever in a neverending dream of his childhood), winning would lead to the death of his partner anyway... It must have been dreadful.
When it comes to the different kinds of "deaths" you mentioned, I will try to summarize this quite shortly, even though they're definitely interesting angles.
I believe that a "death of identity" is basically what I have outlined above - while it mainly focused on Taichi's (decline of) mental health, which may also have resulted in a tendency to isolate himself, Taichi's journey is basically some kind of Lion King analogy, where he starts as your typical head-through-wall protagonist, but has to deal with the aftermath of cowardice and the consequences of his choices - and does so by running away from the pain FIRST. From himself and his responsibilities. He also could have chosen to let Menoa win and let his consciousness be turned back into that of a carefree child... But he chose not to let that happen.
Because deep down inside, there IS his path. There are his values, his persistence, his belief system. He's been on the brink of a breakdown, but it's all there. Hence why I really, really, REALLY want to WATCH him getting to his "Simba strikes back" phase at some point, since we only ever saw it implied by the end of each, Tri, the stageplay and Kizuna. We KNOW he will push back, but we have yet to see in what way, if he ever got therapy and how he's actually doing - mentally, physically, spiritually.
Speaking of which, "spiritual death" is a bit harder for me to grasp in his context, but considering how his sense of guilt and fear of cowardice have led him to (temporarily) turn away more and more from his true self, his natural sense of courage and more positive, outgoing attitude... It all leads me back to him having lost his sense of self. I will never forget the feeling of how my stomach dropped during the "depressed adult" scenes in Kizuna. Again, I want to give this movie props for depicting adulthood like that, but it really hurt and felt way too relatable.
And I guess in this sense, we can also talk about "character assassination", because... As you may have noticed, I have linked quite a few analysis posts in this answer, because I have been trying to analyze and understand Taichi for MONTHS now. And sometimes, I feel like I may be trying too hard - who knows me also knows that, while Taichi is one of my favourite characters, I also have my fair share of problems with the AMOUNT of Taichi suffer p*rn in the OG timeline (and I still maintain they only made Taichi as generic as he was in the reboot to avoid these allegations). Some may argue that it's all over the top and that they keep recycling the same conflict (for him and in general) over and over again for the sake of even HAVING a plot to revolve around (which also wouldn't contradict the epilogue too much and actually leading towards it eventually).
For me, it has been interesting to look at all of this in context, as heartbreaking as it is sometimes. Mental health is a serious issue and watching a character like Taichi experiencing at least some form of implied depression after everything he went through tells you that everyone can get affected by this. Even if your experiences won't involve several instances of near-death-situations, even if you are resilient and have a lot of social, mental and physical resources to deal with set-backs or intense, difficult situations... It may still happen. And it's important to show that there are ways to deal with it as well as you can. That there is hope, even if things are not 100% alright.

Okay Yall I Need Help Deciding
Im not stranger to having 50 million back-burner/anti-burnout projects. I have many that bounce around my brain! I even have one that's on an annual rotation around Christmas/New year (looking at you, Double Trouble)
However, right now, my brain is FIGHTING for a main project! And all of them are Digimon related!! HELP!
Okay, lemme break down my projects so yall can help me poll--
PROJECT RE:CODE -- My current 'Main Project', who is being threatened to be overthrown as the Main. Its a B&W Manga-style webcomic hosted here on tumblr. Currently on pause as I write Chapter 2 (and maybe re-do Chapter 1's pages to fix pacing issues and match the quality om putting into Chapter 2)
NEW IMPULSE -- A Pulsemon-centric webnovel with scattered illustration. Inspired by DIGIMON SEEKERS! This story is currently for when I dont want to get out of bed and just cozy up with my laptop. Largely came into being because i dragged out my Vital Bracelet, which has Pulsemon on it!
NULL VISUAL NOVELS??? -- OKAY THIS IS WHY IM POLLING. @birdfossil has infected my brain with the SUPER COOL IDEA of writing some short Visual Novels for NULL and her version of the Digital World! I bought VisualNovel Maker way back when it was on sale for like $12USD and I have yet to use it??? I should go use it. I originally bought it with the intention of writing my own Otome, but I think smaller one-shot style VNs would be a better place to start!

Sending hugs always!
đ» ghost: can you tease some wip ideas that have been haunting you/something you want to write in the future?
Please and thank you.
There are so many! Too many!
Resident Evil: Rose's mom, Mia, returns to the facility where Rose has been growing up. The turmoil of her return triggers a psychic meltdown in Rose, and her connection to the mold turns the whole facility into a giant "silent hill-like" otherworld experience where all the characters are trapped in one another's trauma.
Ace Attorney: Something exploring Apollo and Athena's relationship, and probably the resolution to the Clay/Apollo conundrum that I started in "In Justice We Trust"-- namely, will Clay and Apollo fuse into one entity, or will Clay move on into the afterlife.
Marvel: A full re-write/condensation of Marvel canon, harmonizing specifically the events of the Avengers, X-Men and Spider-Man from the 1960s through the late 1990s.
A Digimon Adventure 01/02 fic where the adult digidestined get sucked into the digital world again, and aged back down to when they first entered.
Urusei Yatsura: a comedy/drama about an older Ten-chan with significant deliberately funny parallels to Anakin Skywalker.
So many more.
Thank you for the ask!

Digimon World: Digital Card Battle (1999) - End game thoughts (20 hrs in)
Yay, this was really fun and easy to beat! Honestly, that's how I like my video games, I just want to chill at the end of the day, not stress out. There were one or two battles that presented a slight challenge and that's good enough for me.
This game had so much charm and was a fabulous companion to Digimon World 1. It's kind of like its quirky and more casual cousin. Kind of baffled that there isn't a fan translation (that I could find) because it's honestly a pretty short game with not a lot of dialogue.
I'm going to do a little bit of post-game poking around, but here are my immediate thoughts after beating it.
Notes:
-I wonder if the lack of localization is 100% due to the Hitler stuff (which...fair) or if there's more to it than that. I get that it would have been difficult to cut that part out entirely, but maybe they could re-skin things to look less sus? I dunno...too late now.
-I was so happy with all the stats they give you during the end credits, that was such a nice touch! They gave me my playtime, how many times I saved, what decks I used and how I used them. Interesting stuff. I feel like TCG are for stats nerds lol (the only math class I enjoyed in high school)
-It was really cute how they recreated all of the scenes from the game with CGs. Of course, it would have been nice if those were just in the game proper, but oh well :/ it was fun looking back on all the battles and quirky events
-So...the Japanese was a bit tricky for me to follow, but it seems like this whole game had a gag plot? Like you spend the whole game trying to get to Mt. Infinity to retrieve a "bug card", but then you get to the final boss and he's like, "Huh? Who are you? What's going on? I've never heard of a bug card in my life." And then Betamon (who came with you for moral support) is like "oh yeah, I dropped that card and it was blown away by the wind to the top of this mountain teehee." Lol. So really, there was no villain...I guess. Really the MC and Babamon are the assholes for destroying Machinedramon's home for no reason.
-Speaking of gag plot, most of the plot of this game is on the very silly, toilet humor side. A majority of it is tracking down toilet paper and finding the culprit of who is breaking all of the toilets. In hindsight, this might be another reason this didn't get localized...
-So Babamon was Rosemon all along...okaaay. I didn't really get this twist because Rosemon switched back and forth between her two forms throughout the game before the bug card (which supposedly cause the transformation) was destroyed. Maybe it was a Fiona from Shrek situation.
-I was a little sad that I got all of these great "Sevens Cards," but then didn't want to use most of them. The only one I really ended up using was the holy one because it gave my digimon +1000 HP. Everything else seemed too risky to use. Honestly I used the same deck without many changes for 90% of the game. Kind of lame, but editing decks was sorta painful in how time consuming and clunky it was. It seems like arranging a deck would be a lot more fun IRL though, I kinda wish I had some actual cards to fool around with.
-I was surprised to see that there's no Analogman in this game. I guess that just goes along with this being a much chiller, parallel universe.
-I physically can't 100% this game (because of missable battles), so I'm just going to take it easy for post-game stuff. See how many more cards I can get and do a couple more battles. Excited for this game's sequel!
Despite the weirdo storyline and questionable content, this was one of the better Digimon games so far. Due to my high levels of enjoyment, I'm giving it a solid 7 out of 10.

Some extra deets about Lightni verses:
Something something, might be just me re-phrasing or developing more this previous post about him and the verses.
We know Daisuke wouldn't be a "competitor" for the Kaiser shenanigans, and according to "Goggles" track from Spring 2003 CD Drama his motivation to want strength (not power) is because he was a victim from Vamdemon's invasion on Aug 3 1999. Also in the same track, he mentions having witnessed Taichi and the others, which led him to want to be strong like them.
If you alter a bit of those details, like, Daisuke not remembering well those events (02 era Daisuke says in the track he didn't remember well, though) you can play with Daisuke's lack of assertiveness and make him let the others convince him it was actually a movie or even a terrorism event, nothing related to real "monsters", and he would just accept it.
Also, you would just have to change how he got the digivice, since in canon he got it at the same time as Miyako and Iori. I think this is important, because if you decide to keep him in the same school as the other four, he would have to not be buddies with Hikari and Taichi, and let him receive his digivice before or after Miya-Iori.
Considering the fact Daisuke is pragmatic, i don't think he would be using the DW as a stress-relief game like Ken, so i imagine he would just do it to distract himself, and possibly not even trying to get involved with the Kaiser vs Chosen shenanigans. So my approach was that he went exploring it like a normal game and then met my favorite digi-secondary characters in-series: ep 36-37 Digitamamon and Bakumon and befriend them (besides V-mon yeah)
My idea was also swapping the Digimental of Courage and Friendship in the order he receives them -- so V-mon is sealed inside the Digimental of Friendship instead... Ok, it's because i think the Courage one would be better for a later plot and because without remembering Taichi in the Odaiba Fog events i don't think he would be courageous enough to lift it. And since my theory for ep 11 is that he had to learn to trust everyone in-group including their digimon, if he's starting as trusting the digimon... He could definitely lift the Digimental of Friendship!
Also, since this idea is versatile to whoever is the Kaiser (or an equivalent villain AU), Daisuke's persona for this AU is because of the digimon not trusting any human outside Taichi's group. So yeah, Daisuke's persona here is he just disguising as digimon to keep in touch with his digi-friends :V
Also, on another note, him not being able to believe the Digital World is a real parallel world next to the human world is because he was convinced his witness of the monsters in Odaiba were not real, and that it was a weird dream. Which means it makes it interesting when he starts to realize the digimon are alive and that the Digital World is not a game!
But okay, how does Daisuke get involved with [character] Kaiser(in)? Well, since he's a coward he definitely begs the villain to spare him, V-mon, Digitamamon and Bakumon from getting brainwashed-or-captured. The villain does not know Daisuke well enough to spot any Daisuke-ness in his quirks, and Lightni is seen as a digimon so... A digimon begging for mercy?? Yeah.
But also the Chosen are not that close to Daisuke too, so they don't imagine he's involved with their enemy. And when everyone discovers it... Well, he's not assertive enough to confront them either.
I don't think you need to give him a Dark Seed, considering he's pretty much calling for attention and wanting validation, plus he's naive if you push the right buttons you can exploit that~
And since the [character] Kaiser(in) might be his first and only human friend, he might be willing to keep helping them, or maybe pulling a Wormmon later and beg the 02 group to save his friend from destroying themselves.
The Digimental of Courage could get a play around this part too, when he finally gains courage to stand up against his friend and face them.
Idk if you need Magnamon here, but maybe you could give the Digimental of Miracles to whoever is serving as Daisuke's role in replacement here. Unless you come up with a reason for Daisuke to get the Digimental here too...? If the villain is not Ken, maybe leave it to Ken!!
Idk much more past Kaiser arc-section, but i think it could run similar to the rest of 02, except Daisuke being in Ken's position and if the Kaiser is not Ken, having Ken being the one trying to reach him out to unlock Paildramon + Imperialdramon. As for the Dark Seed it could still take a place in it, possibly with whoever was the Kaiser (or Ken himself).
Update [March/12]:
Since he was convinced by everyone else that the digimon events from Aug 1-3 1999 weren't real, he didn't meet Taichi until 2002.
Also, he never was Hikari's classmate until 2002, so he didn't develop a huge crush on her.
Since no "person with goggles" memories (he probably saw Taichi, explained in the first bullet here), he does need goggles at all! Though, he could get the goggles later.
And since he does not wear Taichi's goggles, this means Taichi still has them. And later he will pass it to Daisuke after realizing this kid needs a little push to be more assertive.
His hair is also... a little different from canon Daisuke. I made this because i wanted to give a little difference from canon to AU (plus his outfit is also... a little different from canon too!!)
Despite being working to the [Character] Kaiser(in)/Villain, he's still the same -- a strong sense of justice and wanting to do the right thing. EXCEPT... He's a scaredy-cat. Yeah, he never got that push the canon Daisuke had from Taichi.
The reason he's sticking with the Kaiser(in) is because it's his first human friend, but he considers V-mon, Digitamamon and Bakumon his digi-friends (even if he believes they're just NPCs in a game).
The only bad thing in him is that he likes to do food experiments like a mad scientist. And this could end bad sometimes.

You've done pokemon, but what about Digimon? I realize there will be some overlap, but I feel like Digimon as a whole focuses more on the relationships between mon and human.
THEME: Digimon
Hello there, Iâm not super familiar with Digimon but this is what I can recommend!
Predation, by Shanna Germain (Monte Cook Games).
Welcome to the Cretaceous. Our ancestors wonât climb down from the trees for another 66 million years, but here we are now. Time travel seemed like a good idea. Exploring the ancient world. Building. Creating an entire society here in the jungles of our primordial Earth. Until those SATI guys messed it all up.
Weâve got gear. Weâve got guns. Weâve even bioengineered a few dinos to our liking. And thatâs good, because weâll need it all to survive. History says thereâs an asteroid headed our way, and thereâs no one left alive who knows how to get back to the future.
Iâm recommending this game because of the unique way it creates the relationship between dinosaur and human. In Predation, players will embody their character⊠but theyâll also play the dinosaur companion of another player. The Cypher System itself is designed to work with a variety of genres, so it might even be possible to re-skin the setting to make it look more like the Digimon universe - especially if you want to send your characters to a digital world, rather than to the Cretaceous.
Shatterkin, by Scribbles and Dice.
Shatterkin is a tabletop role-playing game about kids with evolving monster pets. Each player takes on the role of two different characters â a small-town kid and a strange evolving monster (known as shatterkin), who have formed a bond to help each other learn and grow.
Defend your small town from dangers â wild shatterkin, agents of the secretive Syndicates, or the mysterious power known as the Malice. When the situation is dire, your shatterkin can evolve to new levels of power, to face ever-greater foes. Be careful not to put too much strain on your shatterkin â you don't want to break their trust!
Shatterkin is a Forged in the Dark game â it's based around the same core mechanics as John Harper's Blades in the Dark, but with alterations and new systems to best capture the excitement and challenges of childhood adventure, and the evolving monster genre.
Iâve recommended this game under the Pokemon theme before, but I think it mirrors some strong conceits with Digimon - primarily the fact that each character has only one Shatterkin that they are responsible for. Right now Shatterkin is in early access - which means itâs Pay What You Want, but thereâs incomplete sections. If you really want to focus on a trainerâs bond with their companion though, this is worth checking out.
Monster Care Squad, by Sandy Pug Games.
Long after the crowns have fallen, long after greed has had it's day, long after war, poverty, hunger, and tyranny passed into memory, Ald-Amura's peace is broken by The False Gold, a terrible sickness spreading through its greatest guardians and most beautiful Monsters. Unified by community and driven by a love for the planet and each other, The Monster Care Squad rises. Do you heed their call?
Monster Care Squad is a tabletop roleplaying game set in the tranquil world of Ald-Amura. The peaceful state of the world is threatened when a mysterious poison known as The False Gold finds its way into the veins of the world's Monsters, causing terrible, maddening Wounds, which drive these incredible beings into uncontrollable rages. The once unbreakable bond of harmony and respect between Humans and Monsters is on the brink of collapse, and it's up to you and your allies to set things right.
You arenât directly connected to the monsters you help here; rather you act as doctors and similar specialists working to heal creatures infected by a terrible sickness. Because this takes place in a world where humans and monsters are usually living in harmony, you have plenty of opportunities to highlight the relationships people might have had with these creatures before they became sick. The game uses a 2d6 plus stat system, but occasionally uses other dice, like a d4 or a d8. What I like best about Monster Care Squad is the new focus of combat: youâre not here to kill the monsters, even if theyâve become violent. Instead, you'll wrestle them just until you can push the medicine down their throat, and then watch them until you know they're no longer a threat. Now that's a challenge!
Games I've recommended in the past:
Animon Story, by Zak Barouh.
