“So, he told you to dress nice?” Wanda was intrigued by the detail her friend was told. Where was he taking her?
“Yeah we're going out to dinner. My guess, one of his restaurants.” Y/n answered as she finished putting on her necklace and earrings.
“You're going to have to spill all the details later.” To Wanda this relationship was so interesting to the Maximoff woman, and she could see the happiness growing in her friend’s eyes.
“Don’t worry I will. Bye.” Y/n winked as she grabbed her purse and jacket and left the apartment wanting to meet Bucky down by his car when he got there.
Surely enough it didn’t take long, less than 5 minutes later Bucky was stepping out of his car to greet her.
“You look gorgeous.” Bucky smiled at her, taking her hand to help her into the car.
“Thank you, you look handsome.” She smiled back taking in his appearance. This was a way better suit than they met in.
“Got to try and look like you're not out of my league.” Bucky told her teasing but he also felt like it wasn’t fully untrue.
“I think it’s the other way around.” Y/n blushed at his words if anything he was out of her league. They came from different worlds: him and his business, money and her from a small town stuck in the past.
Bucky shook his head, she didn’t realize how special she was but he planned on showing her. In fact he was determined. “I’m not to sure.”
The car ride was pleasant and filled with laughter coming from the both of them.
“I’ve heard of this place.” Y/n stated as she looked outside the car window at the restaurant they had pulled up in front of.
“I’d hope so, it’s got 5 stars.” Bucky said as he opened the car door and held his hand out to her, helping her out.
Y/n placed her hand in his and he escorted her out of the car and Bucky handed his keys to the valet.
“And let me guess, you own it?” Y/n’s lip’s pulled up at the corner into a smirk, teasing him with her question.
“Yes, I do.” He smirked proudly at her, giving her his entire attention.
“Thought so.” She nodded with her own full blown smirk.
“Do I scream predictable?” Bucky laughed as he asked her, pulling her closer wrapping an arm around her waist.
Y/n chuckled and shook her head before shrugging. “No, I just figured you said you own a few restaurant’s and you wanted to take me to dinner.”
“Well I wanted to take you somewhere I knew would be good.” Bucky admitted looking away skyly.
Y/n giggled trying to get him to look at her again. “You wanted to impress me?”
Bucky looked at her and tilted his head in question. “Is it working?”
Bucky led Y/n inside his restaurant, which if she remembered correctly was an italian restaurant. He led them right up to the hostess, gave his name and the hostess immediately sat them down at a very nice table with a view.
“A little bit but I’d be more impressed if you were just you.” Y/n admitted but she would just like him to be himself he didn’t need to impress her.
“I’ll remember that.” Bucky smiled softly and thought, so she doesn’t like me for my money or lifestyle. Good to know.
“So what’s good here?” Y/n asked him with a sly smile looking at him over her menu.
Bucky recommended the chicken alfredo and he got the same. They got to know each other more as they talked. Bucky ordered dessert which Y/n fund tasted so good. There was however something Bucky noticed throughout dinner and that was that she seemed tense. She never seemed to relax and at times looked nervous as to what to do.
After dessert they decided to leave and head out. Bucky asked the valet to bring his car around. He noticed just parked at the next block was Steve and Clint in the black SUV keeping guard while he tried to have a normal night out. He knew after he dropped Y/n off back at her home he would have to deal with some business. But he didn’t want it to end so soon.
“So how’d you like dinner?” Bucky asked once they were in the car and officially leaving the restaurant.
“It was good.” Y/n nodded, smiling tightly at him. She was a little tense having never been in a restaurant like that before.
“You felt out of place didn’t you?” Bucky gave her a knowing look. He had put it together easily once he thought about it.
“That obvious?” Y/m grimaced, she felt awful that he could tell.
“Not obvious but I picked up on it. I’m sorry if it was to much for a first date.” Bucky cringed, he should've done something different, he knew he should’ve. The last thing he wanted was to make her uncomfortable.
“More like something I’m not use to. I’ve never been to a restaurant with 1 star let alone 5.” Y/n saw a flicker of insecurity come up in his eyes. He was thinking she was done with him because their lives were to different. “It’ll be an adjustment to get use to.” She said referring to his lifestyle, things that were out to her were his normal. But she didn’t want that to ruin what was growing between them, they just needed time to get to know each other and adjust to their differences.
“It’ll take time.” Bucky reached out for her hand and laced their fingers together. It made him feel better that she still wanted to continue going out with him. She didn’t want it to end just because they were different.
“We’ve got the time.” Y/n squeezed his hand looking him in the eye’s. She could adjust to his lifestyle if it meant getting to be with him, he’d just have to tone it down a bit for her.
“Can I see you again?” Bucky asked, holding her hands in his once he parked the car off to the side in front of her building.
“I would like that.” She smiled agreeing, Y/n enjoyed spending her time with him.
“I’m busy with work tomorrow night but would you be free in the afternoon?” Bucky had some deals to work out for some more unsavory client’s, so he wouldn’t be available at night.
“3 days in a row of seeing me? Aren’t I going to bore you after a while?” Y/n let out a nervous laugh looking down to her lap, he wanted to see her so much in a row she was afraid he’d get bored.
Bucky reached out and gently lifted her chin with his finger and looked her in the eyes and spoke with a tone that left no room for doubt. “Never.”
“Bucky-”
“Honestly I don’t believe I’ll ever get bored of being with. Hell, if you'd let me, I'd see you everyday.” Bucky knew he’d spend every minute of every day with her if she’d let him. “So, are you free?” He asked, smiling with a boyish grin on his lip’s, hoping she’d be free.
“Yes I’m free.” Y/n nodded, a smile on her lips at the sight of his. It was contagious. She was really happy that working for Aunt May was so flexible.
“So it’s a date?” Bucky teased her playfully before exiting the car to come around and help her out.
“It’s a date. Goodnight Bucky.” Y/n laughed as she waved goodbye before entering into her building.
“Goodnight Y/n.” Bucky waved back waiting to make sure she entered the building safely before getting back into the car.
Bucky drove the car around the corner before pulling it into an alleyway and getting out as one of his men got in. Clint had a grin on his lip’s at getting to drive one of Bucky’s sport’s cars. Bucky walked over to the black SUV that was waiting for him.
Once he sat down in the car and shut the door he felt it start to go again and Bucky just sat there smiling like a fool, he knew he was but he couldn’t help it. Besides, the window’s were blacked out so no one could see anyway. Except his best friend that was sitting in the driver’s seat next to him.
“You really like her huh Buck?” Steve could tell he really liked her, he knew him long enough and well enough.
“Yeah, I do. I really do.” Bucky nodded in confirmation.
“I’m glad you found someone. But are you willing to tell her at some point? You can’t keep her around if you never tell her. It’s not fair or right.” Steve really wanted this to work for his friend, his brother. But he didn’t want this girl who he personally thought seemed sweet and was someone Bucky really needed in his life, he didn’t want her to be in the dark about all of Bucky’s ‘businesses’. Steve didn’t want her to be clueless about it and get hurt because of it. And if she didn’t want any part of it she deserved to not have to be near it.
“I just don’t want to lose her yet.” Bucky shook his head and his smile fell as he thought about no longer seeing her. And he’s only known her for a couple of days.
“What if you don’t lose her? What if she’s okay with the whole being with a Mob boss thing?” Even though most wouldn’t be and they haven’t known Y/n for long, what if she was okay with it? What if it didn’t push her away? Steve had to make sure he knew it was a possibility.
“And what if she’s not? I don’t want to risk it. I don’t want to lose her, I enjoy her company.” Bucky didn’t want to lose her and he knew that was the most likely possibility. He didn’t want to think she’d stay, get his hope’s up she’d stay and then tell her only for her to walk away. But he also didn’t want to even think about it.

Caramel
(Part Three)
characters: stripper! Yuta x female! Y/N genre: chaptered, SMUT, fluff, angst word count: 3k words summary: Y/N has everything in her bitter life, not until she meets a sweet-looking stripper. warnings: matured theme, stripper au!, third person POV, alcohol consumption, rusty smut writing, lots of kissing, horny Y/N, breast sucking, fingering, badly written female orgasm, Yuta is down bad, mention of oral - male receiving, some detailed descriptions of Y/N just to prove a point, you can skip or change it to your preference
Part Two
It was bizarre.
The valet was obviously amused when the familiar car parked and he took the keys from someone else. The staff in the building were evidently startled to see the tenant from the penthouse escorted by a guy in cowboy boots, leather pants, and just a denim vest with no shirt inside.
Y/N tried to keep her composure to herself as they boarded the elevator with questionable looks. She can easily reason out that she was drunk but when Yuta offered himself, she felt as if she was woken up with a splash of cold water.
The girl had to admit that she felt warm - bothered, in a certain sexual way - watching him dancing privately for her. When he kneeled in front of her, she badly wanted to trail her fingers on his skin. And when he did let her, she yearned for more. Truly, human beings cannot be easily contented. At least she knew a horny person cannot.
Once again, she can blame it all on alcohol. But if she was totally drunk, she should have gone home alone. She should have slept alone. Not with someone else.
Not with this gorgeous man standing in the middle of her receiving area. A man she suddenly wants. So bad.
“This is an amazing apartment,” Yuta claimed as she handed him a glass of orange juice. “But you said you live the other way.”
Y/N nodded, sitting on the couch. “That was my parent’s house,” she explained, then put down the half-empty glass on the nearby table. “This is more of my own apartment unit.”
Yuta gave a hearty laugh before sitting beside her, “Flex.” He put down his glass next to hers and stretched his arm on the headrest of the sofa before sliding to sit closer to her. “Are you still drunk?”
He was so close that she could smell him. Is it cologne? Why does he smell so good? Maybe she is still drunk - not with alcohol - but with the scent of him. “You said you don’t do extra services?”
“I don’t,” he was inching closer that his breath felt ticklish against her lips. “Can I kiss you?”
She could always blame it on alcohol because who in their right mind would suddenly kiss someone because of that question? But this is Yuta. Handsome. Sexy. Sweet-smelling. Intriguing. Yuta. His lips were so soft and minty, with a tinge of sweetness from the orange juice. Sweetly addicting. When his tongue slipped between her lips, she was sold.
This wasn’t his first rodeo, Yuta had the same experience before but why does this feel utterly different? Her lips were velvety smooth, the taste of alcohol and juice from her tongue making him dizzy with want. In a swift motion, he pulled her to his lap. His arms pulled her closer, not breaking the steamy make out even if he needed air. If this is the way he’ll die, he’ll perish a happy man. She’s intoxicating. It’s making him insane.
His fingers started undoing the zipper from the back of her dress, letting the front fall. His lips started trailing butterfly kisses from her cheek, her neck, her shoulder, to the exposed skin of her chest. The black lace brassiere only adds to his growing excitement. She is so hot. He’ll probably kill himself if he stops now.
Y/N’s lips were plump, breathing harshly, as she stared at him with hooded eyes and flushed cheeks. “Fuck, you are insanely hot.” Yuta complimented, “I want you so fucking bad.”
“My room is that door over there.” He didn’t need any repeated instruction as he carried her up to what she claimed as her room. The bed looked soft specifically when he gently dropped her to the mattress. Slowly, he removed the denim vest while taking in her visuals. Her fucked up look, the haughty expression on her face, and her half-naked state, made him want to thank the Gods for a chance encounter with this woman.
He started kissing her once again, lightly grinding his body into contact with hers. A soft moan escaped her lips, arousing the blood in his system. Never had he experienced this level of want before. He’s like a mad predator craving for prey.
He didn’t even have a drop of alcohol tonight but he could taste the whiskey on his tongue with how he kissed her. His fingers started slipping her dress down, kissing each inch of the skin getting exposed. The whimpers came out of her lips, making all the muscles in his body alive. Maybe she anticipated this, Y/N did say that she went on a date. And somehow, Yuta was thankful that it didn’t end well and he had the golden opportunity to snap the front clip of her brassiere.
She looks exquisite. A Goddess lying in front of him. Yuta might have saved a planet in his past life to land a chance with someone as gorgeous as her. He kissed her neck, trailing to her shoulder. Her fingers tickled his nape, sending goosebumps all over his body. His teeth gently grazed her collarbone which earned a sudden jolt of movement from her. “Did that hurt?” The girl nodded as he placed a soft kiss on the part he gently bit earlier, “Sorry.”
Inch by inch, he moved down. Kisses getting impatient as he neared her breasts. “Can I?” Y/N nodded. His right hand cupped her firm breast, thumb gently caressing her erect nipple. He pressed fluttering kisses on the left breast, his eyes lingering on her. Y/N was panting hard, her thumb trailing on his cheeks while nodding. A signal he knew he needed. A simple gesture that took away all his inhibitions. Her back arches as he sucked on each nipple in turn, warm tongue softly teasing the erect nubs.
The whimpers coming out of her lips put his body in its feral state. He wanted more.
His lips traveled south, open-mouthed kisses on the skin of her abdomen. Yet he needed more. Much much more.
Yuta’s finger hooked the waistband of her underwear, pressing gentle kisses, but she gently tugged his hair, urging him to look at her. “Don’t,” Her eyes were hazy, lips parted. “Don’t kiss that part.” She whispered in between heavy breaths. The side of his lips curled up. How cute.
He pushed himself up to kiss her on her lips, nibbling her bottom lip as she arched her body up for what seemed like a contact to his. His hands trailed down: to the side of her breast, then the curve of her waist, down to her thigh. It then went up between her legs to press his middle finger on the wet spot of her underwear.
Y/N pulled him closer, closing her thighs as she released a moan. “Yuta, please.” He was weak. His mind was already set on the idea of fucking her hard, making her beg for him, calling his name in the most erotic way possible. But the seniors in the club, namely Johnny and Taeyong, would always remind him to never ever have sex with a woman without condoms. That is the golden rule in this profession.
Honestly, he could disregard that rule. Be his own rules.
But she’s a successful, well-established woman. She had her whole life laid out in a flowery way in front of her. He cannot ruin her life just because of his mistake. Just because he forgot a fucking condom.
The man pulled himself up, removing the skin-to-skin contact. “We can’t. I couldn’t.” Her eyes widened in surprise and Yuta had to mentally punch himself for disappointing her. “I shouldn’t have sex with you without condoms,” The girl pursed her lips. “But if you let me touch you, I’ll make sure you’ll be satisfied tonight.” There was a visible hesitance on the girl before she shyly nodded her head. “Words, Y/N.” He urged as his thumb swiped on her bottom lip.
“Yuta,” she called with a whimper. “Touch me, please.”
His thumb was quickly replaced with his lips, hand quickly slipping past the waistband of her underwear to cup her nether region. He loved how her body responded to his kisses and touch. She wrapped her hands on his head, lightly tugging his blonde hair. His mouth sucked a spot on her neck as he pushed his middle finger inside her. A strangled moan escaped her lips, her back arching.
Yuta took a moment to watch her: parted lips whisper silent whimpers as if they’re prayers, body arched, hips grinding against his hand, thighs crossed as if she doesn’t want his hand to leave. And he doesn’t want to.
The man slipped his pointer finger inside and her body jolted as if electrified, lips whispering pleads. Yuta smirked, thumb rubbing circles on her clit. Another finger was inserted and she held his forearm, pushing her fingernail on his skin that it started to hurt. But the guy never cared less and didn’t stop exploring her insides. The sound of her wetness and heavy panting made the smile on Yuta’s face grow. She's close, he could feel it.
Her body started shaking, erotic moans escaping her lips, but Yuta increased the pace of his fingers, even alternating fingers to give her immense pleasure. The girl closed her eyes shut, clinging to Yuta’s arm as liquid started spilling out of her vagina.
Y/N was breathing hard, pulling the blankets up to cover her nakedness. “That was amazing,” she whispered in between labored breaths. “Should I do something for you?” He shook his head, lying beside her in bed. “You definitely should start taking extra services if you’re this great.” Yuta lightly chuckled at that statement, everything coming out of her lips was such a confidence boost. No wonder he’s so attracted to her. “You’ll stay the night, right?” she asked in a sleepy state.
“I’ll leave early tomorrow.”
—--
Y/N had always been an early riser. Yet today, she felt like she didn't want to get up. Her head was throbbing badly as she cursed the alcohol she drank. But that wasn’t the only stupid thing she had done last night. Immediately, she sat up and then pulled the blanket to cover her naked breasts. He’s not here. He did leave early.
A knock on her door startled her. Maybe he’s still here. “Y/N,” But that was clearly Jungwoo’s voice. “If you’re up, there’s hangover soup here.”
Why is Jungwoo here? And why did he know that she was drunk? Wait, where is Yuta? Did Jungwoo perhaps see Yuta?
After making herself presentable, she went to her dining area where her stepbrother was. Jungwoo was just smiling at her knowingly and she lightly cursed, he knew. “Your guest said that you drank a lot last night so I ordered soup,” He emphasized the word ‘guest’ with a wide grin. “And I thought you had a bad date last night.”
Y/N did. And maybe that was the reason why Jungwoo is here. She remembered texting him and of course, just like a real brother, he came here to comfort her. Like every other time. Why the hell did she have to look for other comfort? Surely, last night was purely her fault.
“Did you have a great night?”
She took a sip of the soup to hide a smile. Y/N thought it would be blurry, she was pretty hammered last night. But she could clearly feel Yuta’s warm skin against hers, his soft lips, and his sweet smell. The girl bit her lip to prevent herself from smiling at how amazing the experience from last night was. “Clearly, you did,” Jungwoo noted. “He’s pretty handsome.” Y/N nodded, he is.
Then her eyes widened at that, “You saw him?”
The guy in front of her stifled a laugh, “He quietly went out of your room and I was sitting here.” He narrated, “I asked who he was and said he was your guest before leaving.” Jungwoo even shared that he was in a hurry and that he looked adorable as if a deer caught in headlights, making Y/N giggle. “He even said he was sorry and left that.” He pointed at something on the table.
She stood up to check what it was, surprised that there was cash on the table. “He didn’t take it?”
“Money?” Jungwoo stared at her accusingly, hand on his hip. “You paid him for sex?”
Y/N was just staring at the cash above the table. Obviously, this was what she gave him last night. Why did he leave it here? Did he dislike the experience? Or is it because nothing really happened?
Yuta is such a wonder.
---------
As soon as Yuta entered the dark strip club, his co-workers were howling at him. He sat on one high chair of the bar before asking Ten for a drink, “What happened with the rich girl?” Johnny teased, earning a glare from the younger guy. “Did you have fun?”
In one gulp, he finished the whiskey and handed the glass back to the bartender. “Yong, can I borrow money for a cab fee home?”
The three, his two stripper friends and the bartender, were looking at him in puzzlement. “She’s loaded. What happened?” Ten asked.
“I didn’t take her money.”
Taeyong looked startled. “Did her husband find you?” Johnny asked, earning another glare from Yuta. “Nothing happened?” Yuta nodded his head, “Well, you did get her drunk.”
“It was amazing but,” Yuta trailed off, staring at his fingers. He can still remember how smooth her skin was, how warm she felt under him, her small whimpers, and how addicting she tasted. “I wanted more.”
“Did she reject you?” Taeyong asked in a worried tone.
Yuta breathed heavily, “I forgot the condom.” The three gave a disappointed whine. “I badly wanted more.” He mumbled lying his head on the bar table.
The three shook their heads. He looked like a helpless man.
Ten just tapped his shoulder before Johnny handed him a condom, instructing him not to remove it from his pocket while laughing to himself.
Taeyong just shook his head, “The first time is always like that, Yuta.” But Yuta knew that there’s more to it. He knew what they were pointing at, a rookie mistake. But it’s not. He might have done something unforgivable if not for his self-control. “You can’t possibly be in love with her, right?” He shook his head. There’s no way. He only conversed with her twice, for crying out loud. He cannot fall in love that easily. He’s not that crazy.
“In our line of work, you cannot fall in love with her.”
Taeyong had always been the older brother Yuta didn’t have. He always knew what to correctly say, at all times. And he’s probably right. They were right. This is a rookie mistake, the result of not taking extra services. Now that he was presented with an opportunity, he just blew it. Maybe he felt guilty that she was willing to spend so much for him and he could not give her the equivalent pleasure.
Just like when he was young and playing soccer, he’ll probably get the hang of it with practice.
It has been months since he first started working in the club. Taeyong and Johnny were both superstars, the well-known ones who kept the club working on its feet. Although he’s slowly getting traction for his private dances, Yuta had never once imagined that he’d take the same path as his friends. It’s nothing personal. Maybe it’s just preference.
Or it’s probably from the fact that he would observe the two, with gorgeous faces and amazing bodies, then compare them to himself. He’s confident with his dancing skills but not with his body.
Yuta now believes that words can be very powerful. As he watched himself in front of the full-body mirror, he realized Y/N was right. He looks fine. His mother would often gush at how good-looking his son was. And Y/N claimed she would pay a million for his handsome face. So why is he feeling so inferior to the other guys? His body looks fine. Not as muscular as Johnny’s but he’s bulkier than Taeyong. Why is he so insecure about it?
Maybe it’s not bad to get paid for extra services. He can do it, right?
Yuta has his own rules. First, the golden rule: No condoms, no sex. Second, they could only touch him with his permission. Third, and the most important of all, no kissing. It’s nothing personal, he kept convincing himself. But Ten proves otherwise when he keeps offering other drinks from his usual whiskey and orange juice.
It’s been weeks and the money, as well as clients, kept flowing. He even had a regular who only wants to suck him and he would let her. She’s paying for that service. And to force himself to cum early, his mind would be elsewhere. To someone else, specifically.
All the clients are faceless, it was the technique Johnny had shared when he wanted to get the job done. But all he could think about is the cherry red lips wrapped around his cock, head bobbing that the shiny hair sparkled under the lights, big round eyes begging him for more. Whatever color the underwear was, he would always imagine the black sheer lace quality fabric underwear. The smooth skin against his fingertips and the lovely moans. The way his name rolled erotically against her tongue. The sickening sweet smell of high-end perfume.
And the taste of whiskey and orange juice. From her tongue.
How is she? He wondered. Does she also think about him?
Yuta chuckled to himself, shaking his head. That would be highly impossible.

batshit theory but...
what if "Lord Holdhurst" from the Naval Treaty is also the "Duke of Holdernesse" in The Priory School?
"Evidence":
*The Duke of Holdernesse is described as "the former foreign secretary," which was Lord Holdhurst's job during NAVA.
*nepotism - the Duke ensures his bastard son has gainful employment and good opportunities. This lines up with what we know of the Lord's character, since his nephew Percy Phelps is also a clerk in his office.
*title and name. There is, of course, a great deal of difference between a duke and a lord, but. Given the sensitive nature of NAVA - and I imagine that "we lost an important treaty and the thief wasn't caught whoopsie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" is. Not the sort of story you want your real name attached to. Also, we know that Watson DOES change things - makes up names, fudges dates, etc - to protect their clients. "Lord xxx" is enough to give a sense of importance to the man without going into detail.
it's flimsy, I'll admit, but like. It makes PRIO like 1000% funnier.
Duke's son disappears. The guy in charge of the school he was attending freaks out because oh god the DUKE'S son?? I'm ruined forever oh god damage control right NOW. And the Duke is like "right, but don't go to the police i want this done quietly and without scandal."
Dean of the school: Sherlock Holmes!
Duke (vivid flashbacks to Holmes crawling around his office and the 100 speculative side-eyes he got when the stupid story got published) NO, NOT SHERLOCK HOLMES.
Holmes: 👁👄👁 kidnapping?
Duke: stop -
Watson: your family used to be cattle thieves, you say?! 🔥🔥📃📃🖋🔥
Duke: Do nOT -
Holmes: Murder?! 😳💖😍🥰
Watson: Holmes investigating a murder? 😳💖😍🥰
Valet: hey dad, uhhhh.
Duke: GOD DAMMIT.
#sherlock holmes#acd holmes#PRIO#NAVA#This is not meant to be taken seriously#Unless 👀#“I will pay you 6000 pounds to leave and never come back”#--Duke of Holdernesse probably

Pedrolino vs. Pierrot
Pedrolino vs. Pierrot (Part 2)
Part 1 covered the history of this theatre genre, so head over there for background information.
Now, why does Sally choose a Pedrolino costume of all the commedia costumes? When I think of Sally, I think loud and brash and incredibly confident. She is performing all the time and she thinks she is AMAZING at it. Based on what we know, which character would we expect her to take?
She is vain enough to want to have the major role, so that could be one of The Lovers, but those characters have to be somewhat subdued and they don’t have a recognizable costume. I would pick Il Capitano for her because of the boasting and love of attention. All things considered, though, obviously she is going to pick Arlecchino (Harlequin). This is the guy that has stuck with us through the centuries. Pedrolino gets some play, especially in the move to Pierrot, but he becomes another thing entirely—the precursor of mime and clowning.
Harlequin is everywhere.
I grew up with mass produced art of Harlequin at the end of the hall in my childhood home. Famous artists have painted him, hobby artists have painted him, he’s on the decks of playing cards as the joker, and then the most modern iteration of Harlequin is the Joker’s main squeeze, Harley Quinn. And once you think about it, she is pretty spot on. Harlequin is not afraid to beat someone with that stick he carries. The Joker is also an avatar based on the tradition.
We have pictures of Pedrolino/Pierrot as well, but it really isn’t as common to see him, or even Pierrot, that much. Let's take a look at the differences between the two characters.

I cannot see this without thinking of Groucho's line: "How do you sleep with such big buttons on your pajamas?"

There are sources that somewhat conflate some of the Zanni’s, particularly Arleccino and Pedrolino. However, there are very distinct deliniations of the characters in a lot of examples, with Pedrolino and Arleccino presented as rivals for the love of Columbina. Generally, Pedrolino would be the servant of one of the main characters, though usually Arleccino serves the lead. (Women have a long history of being either banished from the stage or suffering through flat dialogue and action.) The Wikipedia article details Pedrolino as the first or primary Zanni, but from my readings, that distinction is less defined. I find it really hard to believe that when faced with a character in bright patchwork who was quick and nimble and clever and acrobatic, that the crowd would be turning to the more serious guy dressed in white instead.
Pedrolino, often the butt of Arlecchino’s jokes, or a participant in setting up others, was a more serious, intense kind of character. This is something you see when Columbina comes in. Arlecchino is bright and sassy and fun, but Pedrolino is completely taken with her and that love informs his entire life. The words used to describe Pedrolino in this article are “a Janus-faced aspect.”
Janus is a Roman god, depicted with two faces. He sees the past and the future and is present in moments of transition. He is also associated with the moon, as it changes; it’s always in a state of transition. These characters, Pedrolino in particular, is associated with the moon because of his moodiness and feelings of love. Once he sees Columbina, he is smitten and is changed, his mind moved to wooing her. Pedrolino is all romance as a counterpoint to Arlecchino’s fuck boy.
This is something to be explored in a bit when Sally comes in.
The costumes of Arleccino and Pedrolino are distinct from each other, but similar in theme; Arleccino is wearing a costume primarily make of patches (like that old joke of so many patches that no original material is left) and Pedrolino wears a costume that is far too big for him, most likely cast offs from his master. Pedrolino typically did not wear a mask, but instead wore white makeup, called infarinato. This lead to the creation of modern clown make up, which started as Pedrolino’s flour-like make-up. As you can see above, there is still some tradition of Pedrolino wearing a mask, which as you can see, has exaggerated cheeks and raised eyebrows, which was meant to portray humor, openness, and innocence. Arleccino’s mask (which was much more common) was meant to reference his quick wit and love of mischief, but also to give him a satyr-like aspect (spicy).
I didn’t get into masks heavily in the prior piece, so just a bit here. We discussed the characters and that they wore costumes related to their archetype. For many (with the exception of The Lovers, Pedrolino, and sometimes Columbina), their masks were built to identify the characters, but also to present the personalities of the characters in a highly symbolized manner. These masks are created in the Greek tradition, though the Greeks tended to focus on the emotion being portrayed, sometimes leading to actors changing masks as they move through the action (It’s all part of that Aristotelian catharsis, baby). The masks in commedia could also reinforce racial and religious stereotypes existing in society, which I don’t really want to get into. The point of that is that sometimes these masks had exaggerated features, which would be another source of info for the audience. In addition to the masks, the characters would also highlight various appendages or areas of the body, for example, the lustful Pantalone was often portrayed with some kind of phallic costume piece to stress that he is lustful inappropriately (as the ingenue is far too young for him, etc.). This is a somewhat regular feature of theatre throughout time, because everyone loves dick jokes.
Pedrolino became a popular character, making the jump to French theatre, but they renamed him Pierrot, which is basically "little Peter" in French. As Pierrot, the costume became more stylized, and the cone shaped hat and large buttons became staples. A famous French actor portraying Pedrolino, Jean-Gaspard Deburau (1796-1846) played the character for 20 years, moving him into mime territory. Yes, Pedrolino becomes the proto-mime (though I did see references to mimes existing before this, but it could be either AI or a very strange clown fandom.) This character not only moved toward mime, but also modern clowning, with the makeup (as mentioned before) and a use of the same kind of bits. Clowns often perform acrobatics, are the target of pranks, and use the slapstick clumsiness that was a staple of the character.
Pierrot is often described as “moonstruck” which is a phrase that means affected by the moon, but generally is also a way of saying that someone is in love. It refers to the changeable phases of the moon and a kind of out-of-this world focus. Generally, mental illness is referenced, stemming from a belief that the phases of the moon could affect people’s moods, sanity, and behavior.
Pierrot is often pictured with the moon:

As you can see, these are from around the same time period, so we definitely have a shift in focus to Pedrolino as being very romantic. Not a Harlequin in sight.
These images are referring to his romantic nature and his tendency to court Columbina. This is a waxing crescent moon, which is a symbol of blooming love or planting seeds leading to fruitfulness, so I’m guessing a less innocent kind of love than you get from The Lovers.
This blog points to performance of Pierrot in the 1900’s as being more spoken word over music, hence the instruments in those pictures. They were super into orators in the 1900’s. I’m glad we have TV.
So, the major symbols and associations of Pierrot:
Love/Romance
Youth/Young adult
Planting seeds/growth/Spring
The moon/phases of the moon
Music/Poetry
Next, finally, Sally and why Pedrolino, but also, why Pedrolino who is actually Pierrot?
Sorry about the length on this one, but there are a lot of pictures, so I hope that helps.

SAVIOUR COMPLEX (Pt. 5)
(Pt. 4)
Rated: M
TAGS: language/past abuse/Mark Hoffman being a c*p/sensuality/reader is normal and likes to do normal things/Mark is protective bc it's his job but he's also problematic/because he's a c*p/Terrezanos/dead bodyodyodyody
When Mark comes to collect you, he's in a somewhat nicer suit than usual, but you look drastically different. Yes, you want a nice romantic dinner with this powerful man that keeps you on your toes…but you also want to wear something that will look incredible on a bedroom floor.
His eyes rake over you when he sees your black dress with lace detail, your painted red lips, your legs that seem to go on for miles.
“Ho-ly,” he starts. You shut him up with a tip-toe kiss. His large hands wrap around your waist and he tries to deepen the kiss, but you pull away.
“This is MAC, Hoffman. Don't you dare smudge it.”
“Sweetheart you could put that lipstick all over me and I'd buy you 100 more.”
“Damn you're perfect, huh? Come on. We can ruin my makeup after dinner.”
He hides it pretty well, but you can still see the effect that comment has on him. He grunts inaudibly and his pants definitely tighten. You can picture it, too. On your knees, on the bed (his or yours, doesn't matter), your lipstick is smudged, your eyeliner and mascara streaming down your face. You fight every urge to just drag him back inside and fuck his brains out.
He opens the car door for you and you thank him sweetly. They weren't all bad before Ted, but Mark is different. He's confident, maybe cocky at times, but he's gentle with you and hasn't pushed you too far yet. And he respects you. You don't remember the last time you were respected like this.
“So, where are you taking me?” You ask as you put on your seatbelt. Mark doesn't miss the way the safety fabric cuts between your breasts and he clears his throat.
“Terrezanos.”
You gawk at him. “What? Mark, no, that place is way too expensive.”
“Yeah, well, I'm trying to impress you. Besides, you've always wanted to go there.”
You narrow your eyes. “How do you know?”
“I overheard you telling Gerry one day at the restaurant. If you really don't want to, we can go somewhere else-”
“No!” You laugh. “No, it's just…I don't know. Thanks, Mark.”
He flashes a quick glance between you and the road but when he sees your genuine face, it gives him pause.
“Of course. I want this to be special, you know?”
God, your heart flutters. How do you go from being a horny mess to love-struck in a matter of minutes?
The drive is short and you relish in the comfort of Mark's nice car. Leather seats that are warm, quiet wheels, clean smell. Better than any car you've been in lately. And when you pull up to the restaurant, you're absolutely blown away to see-
“Holy shit, they have valets!”
Mark smirks and parks in front of the restaurant. You unbuckle your seatbelt but Mark puts a hand on your arm to stop you.
“Hold on,” he says, then exits the car. You groan as he comes around to your side.
“Mark! Chivalry isn't dead but I'm starving!”
He opens the door for you and you take the waiting hand that helps you from the car. Mark hands his keys over to the valet with thanks. And as you walk in, a gentle hand hovers over your lower back. You feel like some sort of rich wife walking in for the monthly dinner with her husband.
The sudden and seemingly random imagery shakes you for a moment while Mark talks reservation and walks you to the table. You force yourself to remember that this is good fun. He's nice, he's sexy, he treats you well. You're gonna have a good night- a great night, maybe, as long as you get your head out of your ass.
Expensive wine. It's not your preferred and as soon as Mark sees your soured face that you did your best to hide, he orders a different glass.
You both order steak and you pick at a bread stick during the wait.
“Okay, you know too much about me,” you remark. Mark chuckles. “What about you?”
“Eh, what about me. I live at my job. I don't like running.”
“Family?”
“Mom upstate, dad passed a few years ago. Had a sister, but uh…”
Shit, you're stupid. You're a full fucking idiot. You're just trying to make small talk and here you are forgetting about one of the most tragic things you've ever heard.
“God, I'm so sorry, Mark. I completely forgot. You don't have to say anything else.”
“No, no it's fine. I don't ever really talk about her anymore.”
“Seriously, Mark, I understand.”
“But she deserves better than that. I think you woulda liked each other.”
You watch him for a moment silently, hands folded under your chin. Suddenly, he's disarmed.
“Tell me about her.”
And he does, and he lights up. Angela. Angel on earth. His best friend and only person he ever really trusted. Slaughtered by her ex boyfriend.
You wonder about her. How similar your bones are and the tethers that tie you. You'd seen the crime scene photos on the internet. How similar she looked to the photo on Mark's office shelf. She was the same person, after all.
You laugh through your dinner and start the flirting through dessert. You sigh.
“What's that?”
You shrug with a smile. “Can't decide if I don't want this to ever end or… If I want us to get out of here.”
You slip a foot out of its heel and slide it against his ankle, up his calf, and against his inner thigh. Mark inhales sharply and sets an elbow on the table a little too hard, shaking the glasses.
“You are playing a risky game.”
“Risky? I'm just looking for what was promised me.”
“Promised?”
“I'm collecting.”
“Say less.”
You don't even realize that Mark's going in the direction of his place (or what you assume is his place because it's in the opposite direction). You've got a hand ghosting up his leg and he's giving you the same treatment. If he weren't driving, you'd give him head right here, right now.
You both jump when a crackle comes from his police radio.
“Shit,” he mutters, tuning into the frequency.
“Dispatch, all available units to the factory off third…looks like another one.”
Mark nearly swerves off the road. You pull you hand back as your heart hammers in your chest.
“Jesus. What did he mean?”
Mark stares into the dark ahead, lips parted slightly in some intense thought.
“Another trap,” he breathes. “Fuck. I gotta get there. I'll drop you back at your place-”
“No, it'll be quicker for you to go straight to 3rd. I'll stay in the car. You need to do this, right? Catch this guy?”
Mark is fighting himself. Something within him wins and he nods, puts the car in reverse, and speeds to the factory. It's an old, abandoned place, something to do with manufacturing. But when you arrive, there's already ambulances, cop cars, and people, so many people. Mark practically throws himself out of the car and into the throngs. From your seat, you can barely overhear a conversation.
“You're not supposed to be here-”
“No one gave more to this case than me. Let me through.”
Another car pulls up beside you and two men step out, wearing windbreakers with “FBI” plastered on the back. Shit. Your hand moves instinctively to the handle as though there's anything you can do to help this situation.
You watch as Mark is now in a proper screaming match with someone. They aren't letting him through, and then you see a body being wheeled out on a stretcher. The blanket is pulled up too far. Whoever this poor bastard is, they're dead.
And then you spot the hand. The tattoos on the fingers. The ring you had bought him two Christmases ago.
You have no trouble now leaving the car. You stumble in your heels towards the back of the ambulance. Some notice you and go to grab you away but you avoid them. You only get close enough to confirm your suspicions before Mark has a hold of your wrist, then your arm, then all of you as you realize fully that Ted is on the stretcher before you, dead. A victim to the Jigsaw killer. Bringing you one step closer to a serial killer, and hundreds of miles away from anything ever making sense again.

I read something interesting today: the script of Cinderella; or the Lover, the Lackey, and the Little Glass Slipper – a "fairy burlesque extravaganza" by Henry J. Byron, 1860.
Since I'm hoping to turn my overview of the different screen and stage adaptations of Cinderella into a book, I want to research the British stage tradition of the Cinderella Christmas pantomime. Being American, I'm not very familiar with pantos at all, but I think I should discuss them in my book. While Byron's play wasn't billed as a pantomime, they say it basically codified the standard outline of the Cinderella panto that's used to this day. Namely by giving the "Ugly Sisters" bigger comic roles than they had ever had in earlier British stage adaptations, and by introducing a character who from then on became a stock figure: "Buttons" (or rather "Buttoni"; later versions would Anglicize his name), a friendly manservant in Cinderella's house who loves her unrequitedly, but ultimately helps her reunite with the Prince.
It's an interesting script. Here are the notable details:
*This play is written entirely in rhyming verse, and it's a musical, filled with popular songs of the day and a few excerpts from opera, with new lyrics to fit the story. It even includes the comic duet "Un segreto d'importanza" from Rossini's La Cenerentola. Speaking of which...
*The influence of Rossini's opera La Cenerentola is very strong. The setting is Italy and Cinderella's suitor is the Prince of Salerno, although his name is Prince Poppetti rather than Ramiro. As in the opera, his father is dead, and he stands to lose his inheritance unless he marries as soon as possible. The opera characters of Dandini (who also became a stock figure in Cinderella pantos from then on) and Alidoro are present too. Dandini plays his familiar role of switching clothes with the Prince and temporarily enjoying the good life while his master plays the valet. Alidoro isn't the "fairy godfather" figure of the opera, however, but just has a minor comic role as a stodgy tutor. Also as in the opera, Cinderella's stepsisters (or rather, in this version, her half-sisters) are named Clorinda and Thisbe, and in place of the traditional Stepmother is their buffoonish father, an impoverished baron, here named Baron Balderdash. Unlike Rossini's Don Magnifico, however, Balderdash seems to be Cinderella's biological father: he just favors his daughters by the first of his two deceased wives over his daughter by the second one. When Cinderella begs him to take her to the ball, he's moved to fatherly pity and almost gives in, only to be intimidated into refusing by his overbearing eldest daughter Clorinda. Also as in the opera, Cinderella and the Prince first meet at Cinderella's house while she's still in her rags and share a romantic scene, just before Dandini comes in his princely disguise to personally escort the family to the palace.
*Unlike the opera, this version does have a Fairy Godmother. She's no ordinary one, however: she's the Fairy Queen herself, who lives in the forest with other fairies at her command. (Was it coincidence or not that Massenet's opera Cendrillon would also portray her this way 39 years later?) In the opening scene, Prince Poppetti gets lost in the forest while hunting, and meets the Fairy Queen, who shows him a vision of Cinderella's face inside a hollow in a tree. The Prince falls in love at first sight, and so he resolves to give a ball that very night in hope that his mystery girl will come. Later, when the Fairy Queen comes to Cinderella to transform her rags into a gown, a pumpkin into a coach, etc., she tells her that the "valet" she met and fell in love with earlier is really the Prince.
*Another difference between this play and the opera is that the Prince and Dandini's role-switch doesn't extend through the ball. The "Un segreto d'importanza" scene where Dandini reveals his identity to Baron Balderdash happens just before the ball, not at the end of it.
*According to the original cast list, the roles of Prince Poppetti and Dandini were both played by young women, while the role of Clorinda, the elder, more prominent, and more broadly comical of the two Ugly Sisters, was played by a man. This is in keeping with the pantomime genre's tradition of cross-casting.
*Cinderella's portrayal is very different from what I expected. Maybe it's because this was a "burlesque," not serious theatre, but she's not the sweet, gentle waif of tradition – she's a feisty, witty, sassy thing, who talks back to Clorinda and tells her how useless she is, and even tells her father when he's being ridiculous. It's the type of characterization we've often seen in modern feminist versions of the tale, but this is from 1860!
*Buttoni has his most prominent scene with Cinderella after everyone else has left for the ball, but before the Fairy Queen arrives. He sings a duet with Cinderella where he confesses his love for her, but she insists that her "troth is already plighted" to the Prince's "valet."
*In different pacing from a typical Cinderella, the extensive ball scene is the grand finale. Unusually, the Prince knows full well who Cinderella is the whole time. (Her idiot family doesn't, though; they just comment on how much the mysterious beauty looks like her.) So when she runs away at midnight and loses her glass slipper, he doesn't really need it to find her, but just tries it on the other ladies as a game to officially rule out everyone but Cinderella as a bride. As soon as Dandini brings him her lost slipper, he immediately has all the other maidens who are still at the ball try it on, declaring that he'll marry whomever it fits. Of course it fits none. But then Buttoni brings Cinderella back to the palace, now in her rags again; she asks to try on the slipper, and it does fit, as the Prince knew it would.
*Unfortunately, there's some crude racist language here and there, with pejorative use of terms like "Jew," and even the N-word. I suppose that was typical of the era. Fortunately, it's only now and then, and could easily be cut from modern performances.
I'm looking forward to exploring other British pantomime versions of Cinderella to see how they compare to this early one.

Hi magpie! I’m curious: when it comes to original stories, what’s your approach to writing characters? Do you need them to feel them "alive" before you can dive into the story or do you prefer discovering them as you go?
Hey lovely! Thanks for the fascinating ask!
Creating characters in itself doesn't feel very hard for me. When writing fanfic, I'd come up with secondary OCs as needed (from Esther and Dawn in 9 ½ Days to Hush, darling's Nariyoshi to Amy in The Gift) without it seeming a struggle. I wanted a character, bang--there she was. I can't say as to how great they were, but I had no trouble in creating them.
Main characters are different: there's a lot more at stake. They need to carry a novel. This is one of the things that fanfic does NOT prepare a writer for. In fact, it can be detrimental for one's craft. Because the question isn't just to come up with a new character's looks and personality, but also to make them compelling enough for a reader to follow for a few hundred pages. The question is how to make a character that readers will like or even love--or love to hate, if she's the antagonist.
I'm predominantly a pantser. In the past, I'd get a burst of inspiration, start writing and come up with a character and a story. I'd discover the character the same way I discovered the plot. The character took shape as I was writing and their quirks or personality became slowly apparent. In between sessions, I'd spend some time thinking about their backstory. A vibe, a grasp of a character is enough to propel me to write them and flesh them out as I go.
Also, finding the right name is incredibly crucial for me. Not kidding. It's like a magic spell. Once I find the right name for the character, they come alive.
Lately, though, I've been trying to write an original romance, but I have stalled while figuring out the two main leads. I suspect the main reason for the block is the pressure of knowing this is something I'll want to publish: lots and lots of self-doubting and hesitation, which doesn't make for a fruitful writing session. This ask is actually a good reminder that I'm in a decent place to write them and I shouldn't let my doubts undermine my self-confidence. I should just plunge in, as it were.
Things that help me to get a feel for a character and things that don't:
I find character questionnaires absolutely useless. Knowing someone's favourite cookie or the name of her fave teacher does not help me in any way figure out how to write her better. If I need such a detail, it'll come up when writing.
Backstory is super important. This will shape the character and will inform their choices. I spend a lot of time thinking about that.
Because I figure out the characters as I write them, instead of questionnaires or lists, I might try writing a throwaway scene, as I call them. These are little scenes that aren't meant for the novel--they're just to get a feel for how the characters act on page. Often AUs. They're like fanfics of my OCs. Once I wrote a scene where my two characters find a baby on their doorstep in a contemporary setting. It was a short thing but it was illuminating to see how they both dealt with an emergency. The new valet was something similar. It's why I love prompt challenges, and I believe writing scenes like that makes for a better story, even if it feels at first glance that you're procrastinating.
On the topic of how to introduce a character and make them likable, or at least interesting, I pay attention to how characters are introduced in other media. Esp TV as it's easier to notice it there. I'm absolutely enamoured with how C-dramas introduce characters. I've learned loads just by seeing how Nirvana in Fire introduced Prince Jingyan.

What is the difference between a 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotel?
When choosing accommodation, the star rating of a hotel often plays a crucial role. But what really sets a 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotel apart?
A 3-star hotel offers a balance between affordability and comfort. These hotels typically provide basic amenities such as clean rooms, in-house dining, and sometimes a fitness center. They're ideal for budget-conscious travelers seeking a reliable stay.
A 4-star hotel, on the other hand, raises the bar with a higher level of service, style, and facilities. Guests can expect spacious rooms, premium furnishings, multiple dining options, and often a pool or spa. These hotels cater to both leisure and business travelers who want a luxurious experience without going overboard. Many 4 Star Hotels in Kochi Kerala offer elegant stays with quality amenities, perfect for travelers seeking a refined experience in this culturally rich city.
At the top tier, 5-star hotels deliver exceptional luxury, personalized service, and world-class facilities. Think valet parking, concierge services, gourmet restaurants, designer interiors, and exceptional attention to detail. They aim to offer an unforgettable, seamless stay for discerning guests.
While each category serves a different type of traveler, understanding these distinctions can help you choose the right accommodation to match your expectations. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, knowing the difference ensures you get the experience—and value—you’re looking for.
For those visiting Kochi, Gokulam Park Hotel & Convention Centre is a notable name to explore when considering a premium stay.

Empathize
Identifying and understanding users.
To start of, I will put in my observation from my short exp that is of 2 months.
I will be dividing my observation into 4 stages.
Existing Force
Daily life
Working conditions
Future?
Final note
Existing force
India has a working force of huge labour force. It's obvious that with such a huge population, there is only a little that a country can share as resources. A similar country is China.
The labour force is divided in to multiple sectors from getting a job done and requiring a lot of man force. To summarise, all the jab's that require an output with repetition and minimal to no skillset's requirement that can be done by most people fall under this category. It can vary from huge force working at call centers or jobs of factory workers and drivers or even stormtroopers working for the empire.
Further, there are multiple divisions in driver sectors as well. Let's assume we are concentrating on the driver segment and dividing drivers into 2 categories for easy breakdown and understandability.
One, consumer-based and the other is supply-based. consumer-based can be personal drivers, drivers at valet parking, school/pubic transportation. I hope you get the point.
The second category would be supply-based. This sector of drivers that transport goods/cargo, materials that range from raw to consumer goods, products and everything that's materialised and transported in bulk. This also includes short-haul goods such as moving furniture or household cargo.
Let, dive deep into the drivers segment of the force.
(idea for this blog is priority on Supply based drivers, lets say these driver are D2)
2.Daily life
The daily life of D2 can vary drastically from an employed driver to a freelance driver. But, marginally, all work done is always the same, and only the liability is different in terms of payment and trust. D2 drivers can be owners of their own vehicle or drive a provided vehicle by an owner. Regardless, most of them are still freelance drivers. I will explain the difference in a bit.
The day starts with a cup of tea and a call from a broker/contractor or owner. AS most D2 get an estimate idea of location and type of material that needs to be picked up. Further, upon order confirmation and driver availability, D2 get the loading location (point where material/cargo needs to be picked) Usually, drivers are on standby at parking locations paid/owned by the owners. Upon order confirmation, they leave to the provided location for pickup and wait till the material is loaded, and the rest is simple: they get the goods loaded and head to the provided destination. There is a whole lot that happens between the delivery and at the loading/unloading point, and after the delivery. (For the point of context, I will explain the details in a later blog)
3. Working Conditions
Working conditions have drastically changed in the past decades. What seems like a golden investment in owning and driving self vehicle seems out of reach with the ongoing complications and new technology that drivers are not able to keep up with. Also, ever-changing state rules and new company policies make it even harder. Before, drivers and freight deliveries were much different,a nd the marginal profits stayed and made a huge change. Now, even after a decade, the driver pay remains the same, and with a growing economy and technology, it's hard to keep up with daily needs.
Only few of many drivers have a stable Job and a reliable source of income, but that's not guaranteed for the long term. Drivers are used to being in conditions where they have to leave home for 6 months or sometimes a couple of years. Living can get tough if one's job isn't secured and they own a truck that dint receive any orders for a while. As this D2 is responsible for maintaining his vehicle expenses and himself.
On the bright side, if a self-owned D2 gets shipment with less than a day or two in waiting can still make a living. Assume a D2 driving route with his permutations is from Hyderabad - Mumbai and back. To make one way trip it takes him about 2 days, and a round trip takes 4 if they get back-to-back confirmed orders. SO, let's assume a driver gets orders every time he ends a trip. D2 will be making two round trips a week and eight trips a month. Okay, that seems pretty good, what if i say from my 2 months of observation,n i got to speak to about 10-15 drivers who have been driving for over 10-15 years, and highest number of trips done were 5. which is when the market and economy was at its best.
Even though my observation and sample group are very short for any review, I sense a lack of interest for driver preference by the higher ups.
4. Future
The future for logistics and development in India seems to be progressing. Huge developments are going to happen. What about the labour force that is the backbone and heavy lifting unit? Would D2 imagine their children working as a driver? Why was there a time when many wanted to work as a driver and invested and thrived, and now they don't see a next generation in driving? Well, ik how I sound. Let's take a different perspective. Imagine your kid completes schooling, higher studies and graduates as an engineer just like the other 100,00000. Now, when he is just as accomplished as the other whatever number, what are the possible jobs one can get into? What is the educated employment rate today? 8.25% My friends who have civil, mechanical, aeronautical, and software engineering degrees are about 30. I cannot count a single one of them in a field that is closer to what they have graduated in. Okay, a lot of Bla bla.
ahm. ahm. My point is, today's graduates aren't any different from the early ages of the labour force that's diminishing today. The drivers I spoke off earn about 50,000 a month and more when the market is at its peak. My civil engineering friend earns about 35,000. Yeah, the drivers have been driving for over 15 years, but they never had a market that was built for them. Helped them see the future and the benefits that support them.
My final note
Hahah, that was super intense. I don't think I am even gonna read this after years, nor do I expect anyone to. So, what if we start prioritising for a huge sector of workers who need recognition? Well, if with enough time and resources, I believe we someday can see hope and appreciation for every job that has opportunity and freedom when it's not overpopulated and nurtured well. It seems like I sound very optimistic, but I still wanna try.
Wrap up Empathy

Understanding the Star-Rated Hotels
Choosing accommodation for vacations is a big deal. With several choices available, it can become overwhelming, especially when it involves selecting a star-rated hotel. How can you tell the differences between a 5-star, 4-star, and 3-star hotel? In this blog, we’ll explore the differences between various star-rated hotels, starting with what a star-rated hotel means.
Hotel ratings are based on quality, cleanliness, and amenities. The higher the rating, the more stars a hotel earns. For instance, 5-star hotels in Zambia are known for their exceptional luxury, superior service, and top-notch facilities. Let’s dive into the details of what sets each star rating apart.
5-star hotels:
Offering the highest level of luxurious services, premium amenities, and sophisticated accommodations, 5-star hotels are designed for an unparalleled guest experience. If you’re exploring places to stay in Lusaka, Zambia's 5-star hotels provide world-class luxury. The ratings are given based on the following criteria:
Service: Services must be discreet, exceptional, and personalized. The hospitality team, including concierge staff, should be available for at least 16 hours a day. Additional offerings such as world-class spas, valet parking, and 24/7 room service are standard.
Rooms: Rooms should feature high-quality amenities, including plush robes, slippers, plug sockets, spacious closets, and full-length mirrors with proper lighting. High-speed Wi-Fi with multi-device support, snack bars, and other thoughtful conveniences are also expected.
Facilities: Guests can enjoy lavish spas, infinity pools, private beaches, golf courses, and state-of-the-art gyms for a truly indulgent stay.
4-star hotels:
For those looking for a refined balance between luxury and comfort, 4-star hotels are an excellent choice. These hotels offer high-quality services and amenities without reaching the extravagant heights of 5-star luxury. In Lusaka, there are plenty of such inviting places to stay.
The following are the criteria for 4-star hotels:
Services: To ensure a seamless stay, professional and courteous staff provide essential services such as room service, laundry, and concierge assistance.
Rooms: Comfortable and stylish, equipped with premium furnishings and modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs and cozy bedrooms.
Facilities: fitness centers, swimming pools, and meeting rooms. Some may have spa services or banquets.
3-star hotels:
If you’re travelling on a budget but don’t want to compromise on comfort, 3-star hotels in Lusaka provide clean, functional, and well-maintained accommodations. These hotels cater to the basic needs and requirements that are needed. The criteria are as follows:
Services: Friendly staff offering basic services such as housekeeping, front desk assistance, and luggage storage.
Rooms: Basic yet comfortable, often equipped with essential amenities like Wi-Fi, TVs, and coffee makers. Rooms may be smaller compared to higher-rated hotels.
Facilities: Limited facilities like a small gym, a swimming pool, or conference rooms. With the details in your hand, choosing the best hotels in Lusaka is entirely up to your expectations and needs. Whether business, wedding, or vacation, there’s always a hotel waiting for you.
