Face Before and After
I want to start off by saying, I cannot believe I am doing it guys. Â I am actually doing it. Â I am following through with my weight loss goals. Â Like many obese people I had made tons of half-hearted attempts to lose weight and to get the health and looks I wanted. Â I failed every time except this time. I have lost 49 lbs so far in about 5 months. Â Almost 50 lbs. Â Iâm just......so happy.
Ok, sorry about the water mark on the graduation image, but I donât want to buy that terrible photo of me.  Actually, I graduated from university three years ago apparently.  At least thatâs what the email from grad images told me when they sent me a bunch of photos asking me to purchase a package.  I didnât start (really) losing weight until this February  2017 and the newer photo is from May 2017. Â
When I was looking through the graduation photos I could not even recognize myself. Â Forget that awful un-evenly dyed black hair, but I couldnât believe how fat my face looked back then. Â To be fair the camera angle is terrible, but I was also very obese. Â The photo from May is a better photo angle but I also weigh 40 lbs less. Â In the photo on the left I weighed 230 lbs and the one on the right I weighed 190. Â Today I weigh 175 and when I started to take weight loss seriously in February I weighed 224. Â
I feel weird saying this, but fuck it, I am proud of myself. Â EVERY SINGLE DAY I think about losing weight. Â Every single day I think and plan the exact amount of calories I will eat, and the exact amount of calories I will burn. Â Every single day I look up new exercises to strengthen and tone my body. Â Every single day I read motivational quotes about people who have reached their goals. Â Every single day I read over my weight tracking milestones. Â
I think there are many reasons why this time I have been able to have success in my weight loss. Â I want to make another blog post and video about that soon. Â But the number one reason is definitely the deep obsession I have created around getting fit and healthy. Â That might sound bad but I think to reach any goal it takes a certain level of obsession. Â I have an unstoppable drive to get to a healthy weight because If I donât I will die much earlier than I should. Â There is not a day I donât think about my goal, there is barely even an hour and that is one of the major reasons I have been successful so far.

I climbed Mt. Fuji - It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Â Now that a few days have passed, I can confidently say that I am happy I did it. Â I lost 55 lbs and then I climbed a mountain. Â Donât give up. Â Itâs going to be hard no matter what you are doing, the pay off is almost always worth it.

My Current Measurements
This is a total wake up call. Â I wish I would have taken body shots and measurements when I was 224.8 lbs (102 kg). Â My current weight in these photos from April 29th, 2017 is 200.18 lbs (90.8 kg) and while I am happy I have lost almost 25 lbs I know I still have a long way to go.Â
I am 5 ft 3 in or 158 cm a healthy weight for someone of that height is under 140 lbs so I have to lose at least around 60 lbs more. Â I know I can do it! Â I feel very motivated. Â Like most people who are over weight, I have tried to lose weight at least 40 times. Â Most of those times were half hearted attempts that lasted sometimes only a day. Â
I wouldnât say I have been fat my whole life. Â In high school and early university I weighed around 140 lbs and I remember thinking how totally fat I was then. Â So perhaps a part of me resided to just thinking âwell Iâll always be a little bit chubby, but at least Iâm not totally obese.â Â And while I never made it to extreme morbid obesity I clearly ate and drank myself into obesity. Â
Iâm now 29, an American ex-pat living in Japan and my life is pretty great in all aspects besides my weight.  So on February 1st 2017, I decided for the forty first time to get serious about my weight loss and a few weeks later I started sharing my journey on the internet.  It has helped keep me on track.  Maybe itâs because Iâm a millennial and I need an audience, maybe because âpics or it didnât happenâ or maybe  itâs because I like the community aspect of encouragement and support.  Weight loss is hard to go through alone. Â
In Japan, there is no obesity epidemic like there is in America. Â Often itâs hard to fit into train seats or stadium seating here. Â Being white makes you stand out, and being fat makes you stand out in a bad way. Â So Iâm changing that. Â I do have a Youtube channel you can check out too if you want. Â
