Austin & Ally (Auslly) Dynamic Analysis
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello Again!
A while back I posted an A&A Analysis in which I asked what other things you want me to yap about. Well, this Yap Session was asked by @filmmakerdreamst so I was eager to answer!
The last one was about Auslly having horrid parental supervision and just bad parents in general. Which you can read here:
But today, we are talking about the Auslly Dynamic as a whole and in each season specifically in order to truly gauge why Austin and Ally have such a strong bond that any singular other character duo can replicate.
Warning: This is LONGGGGG lol
SEASON ONE: THE BESTEST OF FRIENDS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Season One was pure platonic friendship and I love that. Of course, they had that episode where Austin thought Ally had a crush on him and flipped out, but that was only because he didn't want to ruin their friendship and partnership with silly feelings and crushes. They were comfortable being friends and both decided to keep it that way.
-
During the first season, Austin time and time again makes mistakes that in other shows would cause episodes of drama and not get resolved till the end of the season. But Austin's respect for Ally and her feelings makes him think over his actions, realize that he did wrong, and handle the issue in a sweet and mature manner.
For Example, when Austin was continuously late and disrespectful of Ally's time, he got Ally a signed guitar by Bruno Mars (a favorite artist of Ally's) and gave her a planner to plan all the time she needed him since being her partner meant there was no more "Austin Time" but "Austin and Ally Time."
Another example is when the jealous blogger was ruining Austin's career because of Ally, yet he never blamed her. Even when threatened with never-ending blackmail he still chose Ally over his career. (Which he does all throughout the show which I will mention in other sections)
A Third Example, is Austin giving up his chance with the club owner at Trish's party to slow dance with Ally after getting rejected by Dallas (Ally's Crush in S1).
-
In S1 Ally had broken the personal boundaries and walls she had set up with everyone else for Austin and his career.
Like doing activities with Austin that she had never done with Trish. (The HorrerFest and doing a duo costume with Austin which led her to find out about Trish liking the Zaliens Franchise. Meaning she never went with Trish to any of these events before.)
Running onto a stage just to apologize to Austin even though she has extreme stage fright.
Also performing with him when Taylor Swift was injured.
Revealing how she had gotten stage fright in the first place in order to help him overcome his fears.
-
Season 1 was just the writer's way of selling their friendship to their audience. They weren't instantly friends, they had plenty of episodes of petty arguments and learning about each other to become as close as they were at the end of S1. It was realistic and fun to actually see them go from strangers to really close friends who entrusted secrets to each other. It was also refreshing to have Austin and Ally be opposites but have music be the thing that connects them. (Which I will give its own section at the end) Whether it be their parents' disbelief in their careers or just having someone to talk to who was at their professional musical level and truly understood music. Season One may not be the best season out of the four but it was extremely necessary for the realistic growth of auslly.
-
SEASON TWO: FRIENDS OR FEELINGS?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Season 2 is when things start to get interesting. Feelings were revealed, crushes were had, couples got together, people were jelly, and couples broke up. You could immediately see these two were WAY closer and their friendship has blossomed.
Austin realized his feelings after Ally but definitely had a harder time dealing with them than Ally. He gets with Kira Starr (daughter of the Owner of Starr Records - Jimmy Starr) after her bad breath is handled. (Kira Starr you deserved so much better as a character. I could write an analysis of her as well! Comment, if I should!) But when Ally starts to hang around an old camp buddy, Austin gets extremely jealous and Dez helps him realize his feelings for Ally. So after a lot of back and forth between Ally & Kira, Austin picks Kira....then kisses Ally...then dates Kira anyway. But after more back and forth, he breaks up with Kira and serenades Ally, resulting in them FINALLY getting together.
-
Ally realized her feelings before Austin while helping him go on the perfect date with Kira. Ally immediately pushes her feelings down and does the mature thing like always. She decides to focus on her career after Austin continues to unintentionally play with her feelings. Then finally gives in when Austin breaks up with Kira and sings a song she wrote about him to her since he feels the same way.
-
Though their relationship lasted one episode, I wasn't too mad. Once again, the writers are taking a more realistic approach and aren't making Auslly immediately a perfect couple with no faults. They are friends first and it showed this season more than last.
Austin was willing to give up his first magazine cover for Ally and Ally was willing to front flip off a building so that he wouldn't have to give it up.
Austin snuck out of his house to help Ally since he knew she was counting on him.
Austin tries to write his own songs since he is taking up the time Ally needs for her own career. (and his first successful song was about her.)
Austin gifts Ally priceless glass slippers which resulted in him carrying her for days since she couldn't walk in them. In the same episode, Ally helps Austin reinvent his childhood role model of a rock star's career.
Though they had a pretty big fight and realized that they had doubts about each other, they quickly made up and didn't let those past feelings control how they feel about each other now.
At the end of the season, they both agree it's better to be happy that both of their careers are taking off even if it's tearing them apart. This already shows growth from S1 Auslly who had the chance to be separated from each other (Ally going to NY for music school and Austin signing with another Manager and leaving team Austin) but chose each other over their careers.
Though they obviously have feelings for each other and both know that, they realize that if they truly loved and cared for each other...they needed to let each other go.
-
SEASON THREE: SEASON TWO BUT MORE COMPLICATED AND MORE ANNOYING.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Season 3 is a whirlwind of emotions. The first half of S3 is focused on Ally on the Austin Moon Tour and them in school WAY more often. (which makes no sense btw. A&A are both EXTREMELY popular teen idols yet they aren't bombarded every hall they turn down? Like how are paparazzi not at Sonic Boom or the beach they famously hang out at? If anything they should both be homeschooled or do online schooling. PLUS Ally was working at Sonic Boom, working on songs for her and Austin, doing school, attending all her clubs, doing all her other duties as an artist, was in committed relationships, AND finding time to hang out with her friends?! Give that girl an award..)
The second half is the part I didn't like. They did the same thing they did in S2 but with different love interests. Ally with Garett and Austin with Piper. Both relationships last like 2 maybe 3 episodes then get broken up since Auslly can't think of anyone else but each other lol.
They get together once again at prom and stay together till the end of the season. (They technically break up in the last episode but Austin professes his love in front of the whole world on live television and throws away his entire career for her so I think that means they are together lol)
Now Austin and Ally are officially a couple and the season ends with Austin joining Ally on her tour parallel to Ally joining Austin on his tour at the beginning of the season.
-
SEASON FOUR: MATURE SEMI ADULT AUSLLY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Season 4 is all fluff with very last-minute angst. Austin and Ally are finally together for good and it's a breath of fresh air. They help each other deal with their problems like Austin struggling about not being able to live out his passions and dreams. And Ally freaking out about her future and thinking she's not ready. Plus the constant problem of the two of them struggling to be a couple while being artists and now owning a factory together.
The overarching theme of Auslly blurring the lines between them as a couple and them as business partners and two extremely big names in the music industry is so intriguing to me. It was a slow buildup but S4 showed this buildup in its full intensity. Austin was so conflicted about being upset and saddened for himself but still extremely happy and supportive of his girlfriend that he was having nightmares of Ally living his dreams and leaving him behind. Also insecure about Ally going to Harvard and leaving him for a smarter man.
But Ally constantly reminds him that she loves him for him and only him which calms him every time.
But as always, good things always come to an end...Austin & Ally break up.
AND DON'T TALK FOR 4 YEARS!
Austin got back his career and Ally decided to go to college while still being a musician so they didn't have any time for each other. That distance took a toil and ended in them leaving each other's sides for a while. But with a little conniving from Trish and Dez, they were brought back together and realized that they never stopped loving each other. But the two of them still question how to be a couple when they're constantly competing against each other and being dragged away from each other. But then Austin had the bright idea of just becoming a singing duo instead of going head to head as competing artists for the rest of their lives.
That ends up being the right move and they live happily ever after with their two kiddos and music factory/museum.
-
This was my stupid long dynamic analysis but I'm not done.
I also want to more intently explain why Austin and Ally are so close.
...and the answer is music.
I know what you are thinking, no duh...that's like the whole show premise but I'm digging into it deeper.
Remember in my earlier post I mentioned Auslly writing their songs about each other like no one else is there for them like each other?
I believe if A&A were on a more mature network, we would see the straight pressure and anxiety these two felt while being in the industry so young. Like, think about it...Austin and Ally were 14-15 when Austin went viral and Ally became his songwriter. Then Ally was around 15-16 when her personal career went off. They were absolute BABIES! With little to no support from their families, friends who could never fully grasp the amount of pressure they were under, and the entertainment industry watching their every move. Trish and Dez both play parts that are behind the scene (Manager and Director) and allow them to still keep their youths to themself instead of the youth being taken away from them like Auslly.
Austin was on a full-blown multi-city and state tour at 16!?
Ally was doing the same at 16-17...
in NYC performing Times Square BY THEMSELVES
Like literal children.
look at some of the lyrics these kids wrote about each other...
Parachute - Ally - Her First Album
"I remember life before
Faraway dreams and locking doors
Then you came, then you came
Afraid to fall, to be free
Always my own worst enemy
Isn't what, what you see
I took time to realize
That I couldn't do it by myself, myself
There's no gravity
when you're next to me
You will always break my
fall, like a parachute
When you're holding me so
weightless I can barely breathe
You will always break my fall, my fall
Like a parachute
You're my parachute"
LIKE? IM SORRY?
(Pls listen to the whole song and read all the lyrics cause it's really deep and emotional.)
here is Austin talking about Ally...
Austin - Stuck On You - Austin gets over stage fright by only looking at Ally
"So, I'm singing all the words I'm scared to say, yeah So, forgive me if I'm doing this all wrong I'm trying my best in this song To tell you, what can I do? I'm stuck on you I'm hoping, you feel what I do 'Cause I told Mom about you I told her, what can I do? I'm stuck on you
And like the nightsticks to the moon Girl, I'm stuck on you"
(Austin's isn't as deep and sad as Ally's but that is the character difference.)
But either way, the song is extremely sweet and endearing.
And this is only 2 songs out of 4 seasons worth of dedicated songs to each other. There was never a single song dedicated to their families only a couple for their friends but never as deep and descriptive as this. I think I can safely say that Austin and Ally were each other's safe places and utter sanctuary. It makes sense why their hugs were so long and their simple glances turned to deep gazes. They were each other's home...a place of peace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Austin and Ally grew up with parents who gave up on their dreams, settled, and expected them to do the same. To work in the family business and forget their dreams since they had a one-in-a-billion chance of making it. No one fully understood how hard they worked and how much it hurt to have no one on their side.
No one but each other.
Trish never had the work effort that Ally had or the ability to not like having attention on her like Ally hated.
Dez never cared about being the one on camera like Austin or cared about what the public thought about him like Austin constantly did.
Even their best friends could never fully grasp their dilemma.
No one understands Austin like Ally.
And no one understands Ally like Austin.
It makes sense...they were two in a million.
-
OK, THAT WAS SO LONG I AM SO SORRY.
But I love sharing my brain thoughts with you all so I'd gladly do more. Just give me recs in the comments even if they aren't A&A related.
This is the second yap session of this new series so you can always find this by the hashtag I put on each one...
#Yappin' with Shy
maybe next time I talk about the secret romance between Austin and Dez/Ally and Kira, or how Trish can be an aro-ace, or how Ally's dad's money problems root to something deeper than just being cheap.
But that’s a yapper-sation for another time - Shy

MCSM Ship Dynamics
╰────── · · ୨୧ · · ──────╯
(Just how I think different MCSM ships would work + my overall thoughts and opinons on them !!!
꒰ ୨୧ ─ ・┈ ・ ─ ・┈ ─ ・┈ ─ ・┈ ꒱꒱
Jesse x Lukas
Jesse and Lukas are like the bread and butter of MCSM ships, very basic but beloved for their closeness and banter. Jesse, no matter which route you take or choices you make, is a more extroverted character that is a strong leader. Generally, Jesse cares very much about their friends and is a pretty friendly person. It's mostly up to how the person individually perceives Jesse, but the most common interpretation of Jesse I've seen in Jesskas is that Jesse learns to admire Lukas as they travel together. Lukas usually falls for them as well, but in the "He fell first they fell harder" kind of way, lukas being the former.
I've also seen some interpretations of Jesse having a little crush on Lukas at the beginning of MCSM because they think he's cool. Overall, I think Jesskas would be a pretty healthy ship.
The two of them admire each other, and they accentuate each other's strengths well! Jesse got Lukas out of his shell and pushed him to improve, and Lukas hyped Jesse up and helped them grow into the hero they were in season 2.
Lukas as a character in season 1 doesn't exactly have confidence. Though he does have faith in some of his own strengths, and is the most likely character out of Olivia, Axel, and Jesse to disagree with Jesse, he still is always trying to keep people happy and try to keep conflict to a minimum. Not being an aggressive character doesn't mean he won't stand up for himself when needed, though. Even though Lukas wasn't exactly the leader of the Ocelots, they still sort of listened to him and considered his opinions in a way, so Lukas could probably hold his own on Aiden in an argument. The reason Lukas didn't argue with them as much was most likely because he believed that the Ocelots could change, but when he was proven wrong the arguments became more frequent and he got kicked out.
Jesse and Lukas in season 2 are very clearly closer, and it seems like they'd been hanging out a lot more before everyone became too busy to see each other more often. Still, in season 2, Lukas is belittled by Romeo, who brings up his old insecurities. He sees through Romeo's disguise because he and Jesse always lift each other up and encourage the other to improve. Lukas also seems to be a character that would show affection through words - like cheering people on or subtle physical affection - like a high five and the ever so often hug. Jesse, Olivia, and Axel definitely have become his safe place after the Ocelots kicked him out.
The only real critisism I can think of for Jesskas is that there was a lot of mischaracterization of Lukas in the past, and still some in the present, along with it kind of overshadowing a lot of other characters and ships.
Jesskas is very overdone, but there's nothing wrong with that! It's cute, albeit very basic. I don't really ship it, but I see where people are coming from, and it has the potential to be very cute!
꒰ ୨୧ ─ ・┈ ・ ─ ・┈ ─ ・┈ ─ ・┈ ꒱꒱
Jesse x Petra
Again, Jesse and Petra are a pretty basic, bread and jam type of ship. It's a little more complex than Lukas and Jesse, but not by much honestly. Petra is also a bit of a cool girl archetype, someone who's generally closed off from other people and doesn't like showing weakness due to fear of being seen as just that - weak. Only her weaknesses. She has trouble staying in one place for long or getting attached to things, but when she does, Petra holds on tight. While Lukas is just about as extroverted as Jesse, Petra is more introverted and selfish. She looks out for herself.
It's difficult to pin a characer for Jesse since, honestly, the different routes and such make it seem like every person who plays MCSM will get their own individual Jesse character. Also, because of lacking writing, which makes Jesse kind of has the amount of character of a peanut shell most of the time ... but I guess that again, that makes Jesse's character mostly up to individual interpretation. With Jesstra, I've noticed people seem to pin Jessie as a person that likes physical affection, so them and Petra tend to bond over fighting and sparring.
Petra is probably mostly averse to physical affection and touch - she seems more like someone who would do acts of service, being a mercenary and all. Jesstra seems like a ship where they would be sparring and flirt with each other through complimenting each other's moves + lovingly beating the shit out of each other. In a healthy way, though! After sparring, I think they would take care of any bruises or harm that was caused together.
When Petra was super closed off and mysterious, Jesse was the one to get her to start talking to more people. They were one of Petra's first really close friends, and that meant a lot to her. They were also the one that forced Petra to realize she couldn't stay stagnant forever and expect things to never change. She had to grow up and move on.
I can see the appeal with their compiments and banter during fights and sparring, as well as Jesse leaving Beacontown at the end of season 2 to go travel the world with Petra. A very healthy ship as well!
To be honest, we really need more focus on the smaller sapphic and wlw ships in the MCSM fandom, in my opinion. This ship probably is the gateway a lot of people get into those through, so I thank it very much for that. Not only that, but it's a pretty cute ship! Again, I don't exactly ship it, I don't really ship anyone with Jesse because I don't find Jesse that interesting.
As for faults with this ship, from what I've seen, the characterization of Petra is pretty good, but because Jesse is a lot less complex in comparison to her, it feels kind of empty on one side.
Anyways, I can definitely see where you guys are coming from! I personally do love dynamics like this one, so I think it's pretty good!
꒰ ୨୧ ─ ・┈ ・ ─ ・┈ ─ ・┈ ─ ・┈ ꒱꒱
Jack x Nurm
Boy, oh boy, old man yaoi !! (just jokes, guys, please don't kill me). While Nurm speaks in villager, Jack is able to understand him completely fine. They both seem to have a very deep understanding of each other anyway. They give the vibes of adventurer husbands who traveled the world together in their youth. By now, they're pretty much done with adventuring and want to settle down together and live in peace. And they deserve it!
You can tell just by hearing them talk that they've spent many an adventure together, fighting alongside the other and tending to each other's wounds. If they have any child relatives, I'm sure they'll be the favorite relative just for the sheer amount of cool stories they can tell.
Jack has a lot of respect for Nurm as a cartographer, and Nurm respects Jack's physical strength. Nurm is probably more the brains of the two, more quick witted and smart. The only thing is, Jack is one of the only people who can really understand him. That probably got them to be much closer than any of their other party members, anyways.
Also, not to mention, they live together. They are married guys trust me. (You don't have to take that serious dw) The only thing I could possibly think of as critisism is that it's kind of weird that Nurm is a villagerx but he's proven that he's just as intelligent as any player, so it's fine. Besides, it seems like people have universally accepted that they are married or in love, at least, from what I've seen.
꒰ ୨୧ ─ ・┈ ・ ─ ・┈ ─ ・┈ ─ ・┈ ꒱꒱
((If you want me to talk about a specific ship, you can just ask !!! ( ´∀` )b))
Never feel scared to ask me anything !! I live when people send asks, or just interact with me in any way at all BSNANDND

Hell's Great Dad Song: Charlastor's Analysis (Part 2)
Here's part 1:
Coming back after a break, first for a good mood, the second best character after Alastor in HH (in my opinion):
Lucifer!!!
Tumblr media
Cap crushing ;)
Tumblr media
And fixing :D
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aside from another big lie and blatantly showing that Alastor is saying this because of Lucifer (his gaze on Lucifer instead of focusing on Charlie if he was actually directing it at her), we don't see Charlie's face here, which if anything is done on purpose because in at this point, Charlie probably wanted to vomit from disgust because of these words :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, another lie, because Alastor doesn't want to be her assistant, he doesn't want to be at her service, he wants her to be at his service.
In this last shot, let's take a look at the hotel presented by Alastor:
Tumblr media
And let's compare it with a photo of the actual hotel:
Tumblr media
In the original hotel, on the top of the roof on the left and right we have some kind of horns, similar in shape to Charlie's horns (and Lucifer's horns), because she is the owner of the hotel, in Alastor's vision, these horns turn into deer horns, of course, which shows his desire for power not so much over the hotel , but over Charlie.
Sir Pent's ship, if in the series we also see this ship with an open mouth:
Tumblr media
In Alastor's version, he has his tongue stuck out :D
Moreover, it is interesting that we have two pairs of three arrows on the hotel, one pointing to the hotel entrance (Charlie) and the other to the radio tower (Alastor).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here again a lie, Alastor is a predator and one who in my opinion prefers to spend a little more and try harder to get something he wants, straight paths bore him, I think that even though it is a lie (on Alastor's part), it can be the implication that Charlie may ultimately be more of a challenge than he assumes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
True, we know that Alastor loves his mother very much, but what about his father..., I once read a theory that his father could be a bad person, that he could abuse his family and who knows..., maybe it's true.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again true, but... Alastor didn't include himself or Niffty in the sketches behind him, this could mean that he doesn't see himself and Niffty as part of this 'family', but it could also mean (due to him being at the front sketches, not next to her) that he sees himself as someone more important to Charlie, he is right in the center, in front of her and he is and should be the most important to her, it can also mean both of these things.
Also, first we have Sir Pent, the first dead and the first to go to heaven, this could be the order of death and ascent, if Angel dies next (and I think there is a high probability of that, because first: Angel is really trying to be better and actually he wants this redemption; secondly, we saw his sister, Molly in heaven:
Tumblr media
she even stands out specially from the other characters in the frame, so we will definitely have her in s2. Plus Viv said that the second season will focus more on Vees, which means something could happen to Val, he is the one who is most likely to go to the fire in my opinion (sorry, but I don't believe in Val's redemption, in my opinion he has to die), because of the harassment Angel, he even lick Charlie..., I have a feeling that Val will die in s2, and Angel will then be free and will be redeemed.
Then we have Husker, I see Huskerdust's realationship, I also see that Husker's death after Angel makes sense, the only question is what about his contract with Alastor..., I don't see that having a contract, having sold a soul, someone can ascend to heaven, first the contract needs to get rid of, Alastor is the main character along with Charlie so he won't die halfway through the story, so somehow Husker will have to regain his freedom from Alastor, the question is how?
And the last Vaggie, if this is indeed a foreshadowing of their death and ascent, then Vaggie will return to heaven too..., I recently wrote a post about Alastor trying to steal Charlie:
so the last death and rise of Vaggie would make sense if Alastor wins (because somehow I don't think Charlie will leave hell, and I don't believe in long-distance relationships :P ). You can also see it here:
Tumblr media
On one side we have Vaggie, on the other side we have Alastor and Niffty, Charlie is facing Alastor and Niffty, and Lucifer (the angel) is facing Vaggie.
Or here:
Tumblr media
First we focus on Vaggie, but soon the frame enters:
Tumblr media
Alastor(!!!) and Vaggie is already further, behind him, the frame stops focusing on her. Alastor enters Charlie's space and the relationship between Charlie and Vaggie, followed closely by, of course:
Tumblr media
Niffty, which, as I also said in my previous post (which I linked above), is important, just like KeeKee.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coming to the end of the song, Alastor and his ego... whatever he gets involved in (even if he's not the first) he has to finish ;)
And finally, beautiful photos of Angel straight from his door :D
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading and have a nice day, evening or night :)

Was musing on an idea earlier and I think its a realization you had Marinette have in Chasing a Dream.
Basically how, "Beating" Chloe at her own game so to speak does not actually fix anything. They might win for the day, but Chloe's not going anywhere after loosing the class election, being insulted until she storms out has not changed her.
I imagine one can argue about why it doesn't work, be it from the perspective of "You can't emotionally bludgeon or isolate people into being nicer".
But on a "Stops harassing us" level even it clearly doesn't work. & from personal experience that one can, IE getting jumped by four boys at school but making the resulting slug fest messy and unpleasant enough that they didn't both me again. Didn't necessarily stop them all together but it kept me safe which was the main focus at the time.
But as said, that doesn't work on Chloe cos frankly none of them can match the sheer psychological damage her family does to her by winning in contests or insulting her. So pf course she's just going to default to her instinctive "Fight" response and process the whole thing quickly before moving on. She's been getting worse from this for years.
Meanwhile social isolation only serves to steady exaggerate her issues & the divide.
If the goal is getting Chloe to stop, or change then its obviously failed so just as she's "mad" for repeating the same things and expecting success they are are equally "mad" for thinking that this time her defeat or embarrassment will stick.
Now, if they are aware of that and accept it then that at least shows self awareness but if not... Yeah what is the goal and what method could be used to reach it if defeating her does nothing?
Obviously that doesn't mean just letting Chloe do as she pleases, but there's a very wide range of responses between being a doormat and spending every day in a clash of wills so to speak.
Heck, Kagami's handling of her in their first interaction at least seemed effective for a fair bit of time, though again it didn't fix things, it did at least seem more constructive. Meanwhile we actually have seen Chloe response extremely well to certain types of feedback.
Like, not exactly harping on 14 year old's for not figuring this all out, but I do think its an interesting question for maybe an outsider to pose in a sort of "So what's the end goal here? Cos this obviously sucks for literally everyone & makes everything harder, all the time."
Sorry tis got away from me a bit.
No worries! It's a writing based problem you see:
1)The writerswanted to keep Chloé as a ready antagonist. It makes writing the recurring episodic plotlines easier.
2)The writers decided somewhere in S5 to hold her 'accountable' for the way they prevented her from learning or growing so they could keep using her as a recurring antagonist.
It's in the same vein as the choice the writers made to give Marinette an exaggerated crush for 4 seasons so they could milk it for farcical humor, then turn around and pretend it was actual narrative trauma the whole time.
They want to have their cake and eat it too.
In a broader sense, yeah, the ML writers lack the ability to show any problem being solved by more than an end of episode pep talk. Addiction, abuse, even Gabriel's 'defeat' came down to one. If a pep talk doesn't solve it, they're just 'evil'.

Do u have any other fics lined up?? Now after reading truth I want more! If you need ideas here are some I was thinking about (just for fun pls don’t feel pressured to use these or even read them if u think they r too boring)
1. Spencer with a reader whose incredibly cynical about love like he keeps proposing and she keeps saying no
2. What about dad Spencer with a daughter who is getting bullied?
3. Any sort of angst to fluff fic
so many !! and you gave me the most amazing idea, thank you !!
ugh i didn't realize i could only do ten !!!
more info below
3. Cat has Spencer's pregnant wife kidnapped and planned to be killed, exactly like he first requested she do when they met in 11x11
4. Spencer and Reader's daughter gets stood up, and she tells Spencer that he would have never done that to her mom. the problem is, he did, and he starts to wonder if they're right for each other
6. basically a she fell first, he fell harder situation
7. spencer goes to prison and takes reader off the visitor list, at a time when she needs him as much as he needs her. he gets out to find that she's gone... and that she was pregnant
8. spencer and reader have a bit of a crush on each other and when it finally looks like they're going to get together, there's an angst-causing miscommunication
10. this one is riddled with Noah Kahan easter eggs

some further thoughts and opinions!!!!!!!!! ON THIS CAMPY FUN SEASON OF TV 💖
my personal s1 episode tier list:
Tumblr media
1.12 prophecy girl was perfect, 1.11 out of mind out of sight has my whole cordy stanning heart, 1.07 angel has my whole angel, angel/darla angel/buffy stanning heart, 1.10 nightmares hit me way harder than i remembered- AND DOWN THE LINE WE GO TIL WE HIT 1.06 the pack, which is not an episode i hate so much as find incredibly boring. (honestly surprised 1.05 never kill a boy on the first date fell where it did on this watch, i remembered it being one of my fav eps of the season years ago)
character feelings rundown:
buffy is BABY. a perfect protag. best mix of girly girl, asskicker, snarky, deeply caring (the way she comforted amy trapped in her moms body, and billy the disembodied 12 year old? I'M SO!). my heart really breaks for her, esp towards the end of the season when we're really seeing much more vividly her melancholy over the life she lost (her fears that she caused her parents divorce, that her father hated her! her grief over her lost childhood, her nostalgia for when she was the popular girl winning crowns). and tbh she could have clawed her way back to it in a lot of ways, turned a blind eye, joined the popular crowd (which was on offer in ep 1!) but she chose to prioritize saving lives.
cordy is my #1 forever, even here when she's a blatantly bitchy bully. even after the scoobies save her life she's insulting them to their faces the second they have an audience. but even in just 12 episodes she grew so much! AND 11/12 ARE SUCH A ONE TWO PUNCH OF CORDY DEPTH AND EXCELLENCE! she's prepared to risk her own life to save willow and jenny! AND we actually see her connecting with buffy and willow in these last few eps, even in nightmares when we see her actually being vaguely nice to buffy over that nightmare test.
angel!!!!!!! i didn't expect all that much from him in s1, his presence is very limited. but by god did the angel episode pack a fuckton of punch. i think it helps that i know him, i know hes a megadork trying to pull off looking cool and mysterious to the youths. he hides in the shadows, not to be mysterious but bc he's a socially isolated nerd. ugh i love him. and his backstory with darla is given SO MUCH WEIGHT and made me so fucking emotional right there. and baby bangel is adorable. i'm not gonna think about how young buffy is lol i don't have it in me to interrogate age gaps in vampire fiction, not today
willow is sweet and she gained so much confidence over the season. i'll be honest tho and say that i still don't personally find her very interesting on her own merit, but i don't have any ISSUES with her at this point (tho i will say her utter lack of response to jesses death was a wild onscreen choice. was he really more of xanders friend than hers??). she's a solid member of the scoobies, i enjoy her as part of the group
giles is so cute! i love how much he still has to learn at this point in his watcher career. genuinely what has he been up to the last 20 years. he barely knows anything lmao. tho ofc i think he might also be flat out lying about some stuff bc of RIPPER PAST. his love for buffy already runs so deep so fast. even in WITCH he was so protective of her.
XANDER. i'm sorry but i love him here. he can be a dick, 100% i will not argue that. and i am deeply uninterested in his crush on buffy. but i'm invested in him and i enjoy him in this season. i love his snarky dick self and his bravery, his complete lack of faith in his intelligence and future hurts me on a personal level. ALSO kay i know we all know of the gay xander timeline but i'm feeling less and less like that's some alternate reality and more like xander is a man that needed to hit 30 before he was ready to grapple with it. maybe my brain is just plastered full of i saw the tv glow but xander reads as so heavily queer, whether thats in a sexuality or gender sense or both. i cannot unsee it! it feels so blatant!
for minor characters: snyder is such a fucking good bad guy. he's so entertaining with his small scale villainy. jenny is such an immediately great presence, she's so sparkly and she brings out such a funny side of giles. joyce is sweet, she loves buffy and is clearly TRYING. i really appreciate her relationship with buffy in this season, they are both busy women with busy lives but they try to make the time for each other (tho i have to say that s6 mental hospital retcon just. doesn't exist to me. it makes NO SENSE with s1 joyce, the two just don't click at all for me personally, and even trying to smash them together hurt my brain). harmony is p wild to behold in this era bc of everyone in this show her personality changes the least??? even tho she literally loses her soul?? i already miss darla SO MUCH. clawing at the walls to get baby princess back. the master was a solid villain! he was def around a lot less than i remembered. i suppose by virtue of his limitations, being trapped in his lil cave.
one season of buffy DOWN!
AND IT WAS DELIGHTFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Personally, I feel S1 is a very underrated season. There's some real gems in the mix! And no episodes I completely hate at all, with only one I am extremely MEH about. So yes! I loved it!!!!!!!!!! 6 more seasons (plus 5 more of angel!!!!!!!) to go 💖💖💖

Now that I think about it (thanks to your post yesterday), that's probably why they had to wait until Marina was dead to put Phillip and Eloise together. He's not just the type to throw his wife away for another woman, and she would be too good herself to go after him if Marina was around, so we would get nowhere. (Although given how miserable he was, if she was just around and there wasn't anything romantic about it, do you think he'd strike up a friendship with her and be in her company, with a chaperone, of course, for a little bit of cheering up?)
You're right, although I'm not a fan of the dead-wife-to-further-male-angst plot device, Phillip and Eloise wouldn't have have gotten together until after she passed away in any other plotline. because divorce didn't exist in Regency England. to give an extreme example, it’s also the reason why Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester absolutely had to be separated as soon as the reader finds out he’s married even if it’s in name only.
And I thought the angst couldn't be worse in this scenario, but now I'm realizing Eloise could have been Michael AND Penelope. Crushing on a friend who is also her cousin's husband.
The angst!
Imagine Eloise starting out as friends with Phillip, because you know, he's the husband of her cousin, she'd want him to feel included in the extended Bridgerton family gatherings, just look at how well she gets along with Simon and John. But it turns out he's actually someone she enjoys spending time with so they become friends who get along really well.
But halfway through them being friends, she realizes she's got a crush on him. On her friend, who also happens to be Marina's husband. Marina who is getting sadder and sicker by the minute and how could she dare have feelings for him when his lawful wife is slowly spiraling into a mental illness nobody seems to be able to cure.
And on Phillip's side, being Marina's only support and caretaker, super grateful for Eloise friendship, just maybe wondering, just a little bit what it would feel like if he had a different kind of marriage, with someone who actually wanted him around, like his friend Eloise. But also being too loyal to Marina to even consider dishonoring her even in his thoughts.
Then Marina dies. And the angst with feelings commences
I think in this scenario it would take the divine intervention of the 3 Bridgerton brothers to push them together, not just Colin's little nudges. Like what he did with Michael.
To get over all that angst they would need all the sexy scenes of When He Was Wicked and To Sir Phillip with Love.
On the other hand. If the show were to explore that tangent, it would be a little less angsty I think, because in the show Marina is not related to Eloise and at this point after season 1 Eloise knows that Phillip and Marina are not inlove and just got married for to save Marina's reputation.
So maybe she's doing her feminist rebellion thing and she befriends Phillip on one of those times he's in London with Marina and Eloise is hanging out with Penelope. It would be painful to watch, because it would be played off as Eloise having her first inappropriate crush on someone out of her reach, because he's married, even if it's to Marina who he doesn't love. And she's a debutante in her first season.
The emotional damage on Phillip's side would also be x100. Marina being the strong person she is on the show, and probably having more influence in his life than book Marina, bringing Phillip to the realization that his marriage could be better if he tried harder, Phillip actually trying to make things work with Marina. But also meeting Eloise, who really makes him happy and no, he shouldn't be crushing on her, he needs to be loyal to his vows. He's just a honorable man in a very sad, unresolvable situation.
Show Eloise and Phillip having one of those loves where ‘it’s the right person, but not right now’ thing that Regency Romance does so well may even make sense for the show.
Then the couple meeting up years later when Phillip is a widow. Because Marina either fakes her death to go and have the freedom she deserves. Or actually dies, in a less depressive circumstances because me thinks that if show Marina doesn’t fake her death, she will most likely die heroically, in an accident to save her children, or pushing someone out of the way of an incoming carriage.
And then Phillip and Eloise meet again and they are finally free to explore their feelings for each other and it’s a nice way to begin their season.
what do you think about my theory.

My big worry is that there just won't be enough time in the last two episodes (despite how long they'll be) to focus on Will the way we want the writers to focus on him. I am absolutely certain that there'll be something more about his sexuality, but it really needs to be something more than what we've been given in vol 1 because even though they are focusing on his sexuality, they're focusing on it as if he's a recurring character, not a main. And I'm not really sure about any other storylines for him bc there's only two eps left and there's so much going on at the moment. I loved his scenes in vol 1, don't get me wrong, but he just wasn't a big focus and Noah didn't get much challenging material to showcase his talent and I'm kinda like why would that change in vol 2 when there's only 2 eps left? Especially now that I feel that they possibly could be preoccupied with El and the other stories going on in Hawkins. I hope that El doesn't overpower the story once they find her...I don't want Will to be treated like an after thought and get a few measly scenes that briefly focus on him.
I totally agree! I was super disappointed with the lack of screen time Will got in vol 1--he felt like as much of a side character as Argyle when he's supposed to be one of the main characters and even had 2 seasons centered around him! However, I'm very hopeful for his narrative in vol 2 mainly because the story seems to be setting him up to be involved heavily with defeating Vecna and getting answers to the upside down.
So far, for vol 2, here's what we know about Will's storyline: his sexuality will be addressed (meaning it will be explicitly made clear he has a crush on Mike), he will have a one-on-one chat with Mike in Hopper's cabin (most likely involving his painting, which was spotlighted multiple times in vol 1 to clue the audience into the fact that it's important), he will somehow be at the roller rink in his present clothes (meaning he most likely gets vecna'd or shows up in someone's trance), he will be involved in some sort of stunt (most likely a trance, based on his harness' similarity to Sadie's), and he will have lots of dialogue (Noah posted something about having to memorize tons of dialogue--something we didn't see in vol 1).
With all of these clues put together, I think it's safe to say Will will play a much larger role in vol 2 than he did in vol 1. It almost seems intentional that he was essentially "forgotten," both by the characters (Mike and El), and the writers (as a meta to the plot), probably to make it hit harder when Vecna brings this up. This was pretty much a continuation of his S3 arc, so his storyline isn't finished--there has to be a conclusion to this, most likely involving a confession of how hurt he was to the people closest to him.
I can see the possibility of when the cali crew gets El back, that Mike/Jonathan could "forget" about Will and focus on El's wellbeing, which could make Will all that more vulnerable before arriving to Hawkins, where Vecna will be waiting. I think this time though, Mike is more in tune with his own feelings and will be "kicked into gear" when Will falls into danger. This will prompt a strong storyline for Will in vol 2, hopefully 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Dan And The Girl She Pulled By Being Autistic HCs:
- Dan fell first, Robin fell harder.
- Dustin gave up on forcing Steve and Robin together after Steve kissed Teddy at the mall but he needed to try and force SOMEONE to have a relationship so he moved on to nagging Dan about Robin. He didn't know Robin was gay but he knew Dan was and he somehow forgot all about homophobia and thought the worst that could happen was Robin would say no.
- Dan spent a while crushing on Robin and trying to test the waters to see if Robin liked her back or was even capable of liking her back. Robin was so oblivious that she basically outright rejected Dan like twice, per Dan's point of view.
- Meanwhile once Robin realized she was into Dan, she was crushing so hard that she thought she was giving herself away and that Dan was bound to find out and make her a town pariah.
- Steve literally just thought they were already dating. They were always so cuddly with each other and Robin seemed flustered when Dan showed any public affection and Dan looked at Robin like Robin was the axis on which the world turned so he was like "ah yes a couple." (He literally should have been right)
- This notion was dispelled only when he asked how things were going between them and Robin immediately launched into a weird nervous rant about giving herself away and ruining a really great friendship or make herself a town pariah. Steve then became Wimgman #1 trying to get Robin and Dan together. He was very sure that Dan was into Robin.
- Dan also kinda thought they were dating at some point. She just thought that since Robin was always borrowing her jackets, they ate together after Robin's work got out a lot, Dan held Robin's hand in public a bunch, they were always clinging and leaning on each other etc, that meant they were kind of in a relationship. She had a really horrible "oh my god I made it all up" moment and ranted about it with Teddy, who from that moment onward sought to set Dan and Robin up. She and Dustin found common ground here.
- At some point in Season 4, Robin came out to Dan. Dan tried not to celebrate too obviously but Steve saw the way she lit the fuck up. (Dan was already out to this particular group but somehow Robin was being Very Oblivious, like SHSL Oblivious).
- At the end of Season 4, Dan decided life was short and it was time. She started talking to Robin, asked what it took for Robin to know a girl liked her, Robin said "I... I don't know, I honestly think she'd just have to go right ahead and kiss me or I'd probably explain it away, I m-" and Dan took that advice. Luckily they were in a pantry getting sandwich supplies for their volunteer work or that would've gone poorly. Robin stammered out what amounted to "what? Are we dating? That was great and I'd love to live in the moment but I need to know if this makes us dating."
- Steve clocked the newly-minted gay couple when they came out all smiley and relaxed. He also asked them on the drive home if they'd really been classless enough to make out at the relief center, to which they both shouted "NO shut up we kissed like once for half a second what is wrong with you" or something like that.
- They get less touchy in public now that they're dating but Steve lets them lock themselves in the back of Family Video so they can kiss or cuddle without any threat of interference or discovery. Ultimate Ally 100000/10.
- It is a LITTLE transactional, in that Robin now must allow Steve to take Bernie back there when she comes by, but like... totally fine trade-off.
- Dan has an intense fondness for playing with Robin's hair, doing Robin's makeup, doing up the last two buttons on Robin's shirt, etc. Robin gets so clumsily flustered about it and Dan's just like "^_^ what? (:"
- Robin plays with Dan's hair and does Dan's makeup too. She also likes to paint Dan's nails. (Dan only wears clear lacquer on them but Robin paints them anyway.)
- Robin doesn't even have to sneak into Dan's house to hang out (ie watch movies and try on e/os clothes), Dustin will let her in and make weird little snickers while Robin embarrassedly walks into Dan's room.
- If Steve and Dustin are the only two people around, Dan and Robin allow themselves to do cute couple-in-public shit like hold hands or sit with their legs on e/o's laps.
- Dan calls Robin "girlfriend" because it's weirdly enough it can pass as platonic just fine. Robin calls her "Dani" (is the only one allowed to do so, btw) and in public they let people think they're just besties.
- Dan has sat behind Robin and guided Robin's hands, technically teaching her how to play the cello or violin but really just being cute and gay. Robin has let Dan press the notes on her trumpet while Robin blows into it too. Dustin is extremely annoyed by this, as it frequently happens in his and Dan's house and is "so UNBELIEVABLY distracting, I literally cannot focus, do you KNOW how impossible-"
- Dan wears a shit ton of jewelry, mostly rows and rows of bracelets. Robin plays with them a lot, it's like a stim.
- Dan has like eighty cute pictures of Robin taped up in her closet.
- Robin has several pictures of Dan, which she keeps in a shoebox under her bed.
- Dan hitches a ride with Steve now bc Robin is also in that car at that time.
- Overall dynamic is "idiots to lovers" and also "Blaine and Kurt from Glee but if they were girls and also in the 80s.
- Steve yelled at Robin for holding up the video store phone line talking to Dan. Granted, HE only got mad because he wanted to hold up the phone line talking to Bernie, but still, uncool, Robin.
- Both of them have an unspoken agreement that now that they're officially girlfriend-girlfriend, they'll stick together in all further Vecna business. They're an essential unit. Inseparable.
- They're also inseparable in many other, non-Vecna-related stuff. Much to the deep annoyance of everyone around them.
- Dan pays for stuff on dates. She doesn't have to but she insists.
