Question surrounding Fortress Magica
Once more, the topic of timelines have left me a woman scorned now that I have caught up with the comics proper.
To make things short, I am currently struggling with exactly where - or rather when - the AU will take place, since the established points I have currently are;
Humans can use magic without the assistance of an incubator, hence Merasmus
Miss Pauling was approached by Kyubey and, for some odd reason, refuses to cease budging her even as an adult
Scout has contracted before becoming a mercenary for the strength to survive his situation/protect his ma
Soldier contracted after the events of "WAR!" in order to repair his friendship with Tavish; this resulted in him being able to join RED
Mikhail also contracted prior to becoming a mercenary, this time while he and his family were in the gulag, and wished to protect his family
Medic found Mikhail's soul gem right before the events of Meet the Medic, and he's set off to find and contract with Kyubey
After Ludwig contracted, his soul gem ended up being larger than most's due to the extra souls; think the size of an ostrich egg's. His soul gem upon transforming looks like a large, glass heart in the middle of his chest
Spy contracted long before Scout was born; His wish is currently a mystery
Demoman, Sniper, and Pyro are the only humans who haven't contracted; Engie may or may not contract in the future
Saxton is the epitome of Badass Normal, but if Kyubey finds out the amount of karma he has...
So far so good? Good. Now, we get to the issue at hand-
If Fortress Magica were to take place after Issue #7, then how the ever-loving FUCK will Scout's death play out, since he is a magi?
BUT, if it took place before the events of these comics, where on earth did Medic get these souls if not the Classic Team?
If it was right after Rings of Fired, well, I hate to sound like a nagging bitch, but I have been planning the details on how Medic will witch out and the reactions of Heavy and Engineer towards his crumbling mental state (yes I see them as a poly couple, ehe-).
I hate to be on my knees, sobbing and begging to the overlapping fans of Madoka Magica and Team Fortress 2, but...

Rogue's relationships with the rest of the mercs
Scout:
Almost like a brother-sister relationship. They're always goofing off together, joking around, getting on Spy's nerves. Just being the chaotic force of the team. Scout constantly convinces Rogue to play baseball with him, especially after seeing that they both use bats as a weapon (albeit Rogue's has nails driven through it).
Scout: "Aw man, sick bat! Say, you ever actually played baseball? If not I could teach ya. Though, you should probably use a different bat. I'll let ya borrow one of mine!"
Soldier:
He's definitely sort of a weird uncle figure to her. She's always giggling at his ridiculous antics, and he's surprisingly protective of her. Although at the same time he's always impressed by her ability to fend for herself, and fight off men larger than her despite her size.
Soldier: "Hell yeah, look at her go! Kicking ass just like a true American! She makes me proud!"
Pyro:
Oh my goodness. These two. Rogue almost always puts on a tough attitude, especially around the other guys. But around Pyro? They're probably the only person Rogue will be a softie towards. They're constantly seen platonically hugging and cuddling, and Pyro loves when Rogue covers their mask in stickers. They always return the favor by covering her face. Once they come off she treasures them. The others will always comment on how adorable the two are, usually followed by Rogue telling them to fuck off.
Rogue: "If anything were to ever happen to Pyro, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself."
Pyro: (灬º‿º灬)
Demoman:
Their relationship is quite explosive, to say the least. When Demo isn't trying to get Rogue to try some of his alcohol (which always results in Rogue gagging and choking from the bitterness) they're always assisting each other on the battlefield. Mostly in the form of Rogue catapultng Demo's bombs at enemies with her slingshot. They always share a laugh when a BLU team member is blown to bits.
Demoman: "Boom, right in the head! Look at all that blood! Yer aim is getting better and better, lassie!"
Heavy:
Just looking at these two stand next to each other is almost laughable. With Heavy being incredibly larger than everyone and Rogue being incredibly smaller, he practically dwarfs her. He's extremely gentle with her though, and takes care of her in sort of a protective big brother kind of way. Whenever the team is lounging around, she's often either cuddled into him or resting her legs in his lap. He doesn't mind it. He's also let her beat him in arm wrestling numerous times. She knows he lets her win, but she still take the opportunity to boast to the other mercs about it.
Heavy: "Little girl is so strong. You've beaten me again."
Rogue: 😏😏😏
Engineer:
He's also like an uncle figure to her. But unlike Soldier, he's more of the chill laid-back uncle that she can go to for advice. And she often does. Sometimes when she's bored she'll go into his workshop and talk with him as he plays his guitar or she helps out with whatever he's working on. Even if that help is something as simple as just handing him tools, he appreciates it. He appreciates the company too.
Engie: "Alright darlin', can you hand me the screwdriver?"
Rogue: "Uh... which one?"
Engie: "The Phillips."
Rogue: "Uh..."
Engie: "The pointy one."
Rogue: "Oh! Yeah sure I knew that."
Medic:
Like with Engie, Rogue will often go into the infirmary to talk with Medic as he works (she also makes sure he takes a break once in a while and doesn't overwork himself). He also does what he can to help with her depression once that's out in the open, prescribing her any antidepressants he can get his hands on. Though when she first joined the team and he gave her her first annual exam, he was astounded by how many fractures and injuries he'd found that were just left to sloppily heal on their own. The sadistic doctor was actually kind of worried for her, though honestly impressed by her high pain tolerance.
Medic: "Goodness fräulein, this is the fifth fracture I've found! How are you even walking?"
Rogue: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sniper:
Despite having quite good aim from using a slingshot for years, Rogue was quite inexperienced with guns (not including when she killed her old caretaker at the end of her fighting days). So naturally, Sniper took it upon himself to teach her. He educates her on different types of guns in order to find what works best for her, and the two partake in target practice together. Of course, the two end up bonding during the lessons. She tells him all about her life in the ring, and he tells her about what life was like back in Australia. One thing that Rogue wasn't anticipating, however, was how strong the recoil of a gun can be. She was so unprepared she was thrown right onto her ass in shock.
Sniper: "Crikey! You alright there, mate?"
Rogue: "Yeah I'm fine... fuck, what was that?!"
Sniper: "Recoil, love. Did you not know guns did that?"
Rogue: "...no..."
Spy:
Although she and Spy certainly took the longest to warm up to each other, the two are as close as can be now. Once they finally accepted each other, Spy took her under his wing as his apprentice. He helps her perfect her thieving skills and educates her on how to take tough situations in stride. She really looks up to him, and they almost have a father-daughter relationship. And of course, when her depression comes to light, he's her biggest means of support. He's always available when she needs him and he does whatever he can for her.
Spy: "You make me so proud, mon cheri. You've captured the intel once again, our training has really paid off. Great job."
Rogue: "Thanks dad."
Spy: "Excuse me, what was that?"
Rogue: "....nothing."
Bonus!
Miss Pauling:
Miss Pauling is literally the first woman Rogue has ever been close to in her life. Throughout her entire childhood she's been surrounded by creepy older men, and even though things are different now with the mercs... they're still men. There are just some things Rogue isn't quite comfortable talking to them about. But with Miss Pauling, going to her for help with things like clothes shopping and feminine problems almost feels natural. Hell, there were so many things Rogue didn't even know about periods until Miss Pauling explained them to her. And of course Miss Pauling takes the time out of her busy work day as often as she can to make sure Rogue is stocked up on sanitary items, and whatever else she needs. Rogue is always extremely greatful for it. And while part of her sees Miss Pauling as sort of a mother figure...another part sort of has a crush on her. Yeah, Miss Pauling was pretty much Rogue's bisexual awakening. But she hasn't said anything about it, one because it would just be awkward and two because she knows Scout also likes her, and she doesn't wanna stand in his way (but little does either of them know, Miss Pauling is a lesbian 👀)
Miss Pauling: "Rogue, honey, you don't even know what a pad is? Or a tampon??? What- what do you do when you get your period?"
Rogue: "What, you mean that weird time of the month that I start bleeding? I just... live with it I guess? Maybe put toilet paper in my panties if it gets too messy-"
Miss Pauling: "Rogue. Come with me, I'll get you stocked up on the things you need. And we'll get you some new panties too."
Rogue: "But don't you have things to do?"
Miss Pauling: "This is more important. You shouldn't have to suffer every month just because no one ever properly taught you about periods. I'll help you out."
Saxton Hale:
Rogue thought he was obnoxious upon first meeting him. Called him a "corporate clown" to the other mercs. But, she had to  earn his approval in order to join the team, so Miss Pauling insisted that she be on her best behavior around him. But, even when on her best behavior her spunkiness still shined through, and Saxton noticed it real quick. However, that spunkiness only raised his interest. He commented on how he, "Hadn't met such a scrappy sheila in a long time." Truth be told, she reminded him a lot of Maggie, but he wasn't about to mention it. During their one on one meeting, he demanded that she punch him in the face to test her strength. After a short hesitation, she did so. Saxton was impressed that she actually hit him hard enough to dislocate his jaw and bust his lip, and gave her the job on the spot with the promise that she keep up that energy (and learn to use some weapons, of course). Miss Pauling and the mercs were shocked to see the two of them come back with Saxton's arm slung around Rogue's shoulders and his face dripping with blood, and the two of them laughing with each other. She took back what she said about him being a corporate clown. Although, the only thing she still doesn't like about him is how he treats Miss Pauling, considering how close she is with her. She has a mind to call him out on it, but Miss Pauling begs her not to.
Saxton: "Let's see just how strong a little gal like you can really be. Go on, hit me RIGHT here! Hard as ya can!"
Rogue: "Uh...Mr. Hale, I really don't-"
Saxton: "Oh don't wuss out on me girly, you want this job or not?!"
Crack.
Rogue: "Oh my god- Mr. Hale! I am so-"
Saxton: "Now that's what I'm talking about! You pack a hard punch for such a cute little thing!"
Rogue: "You're bleeding..."
Saxton: "Consider yourself hired!"
Administrator:
Doesn't trust her. Not one bit. She only respects her because she has to, and even then her "respect" is so shallow that anyone could see right through it. She hates the way she berates, overworks, and oftentimes gaslights Miss Pauling, and the fact that even all the other mercs seem to be intimidated by her concerns her greatly. She knows something's going on with her behind the scenes, and she's determined to figure out what. In the few times she actually saw her in person, Rogue definitely smarted off to her more than once, despite Miss Pauling practically begging her to watch it. The Administrator, however, almost finds it adorable. Almost. She kind of views Rogue as a bratty child. A bratty child with skill and talent that is essential for her team. And for that, she lets the sassiness slide...for now. Luckily these two don't butt heads often though, considering the Administrator is rarely seen.
Administrator, over the loud loudspeaker: "Well done, let's see some more."
Rogue, mumbling: "Bite me..."

I said I’d give more context for Seeker’s The Naked and the Dead arc, so here’s a big fat info dump under the cut
When Gray Mann took over Mann co and the team was disbanded (early 1972), Sniper assumed that Seeker would go with him, seeing that she didn't have a home beyond the team's bases. At this point, all of Seeker’s relationships were established and the two had become a couple.
He was surprised when she said no. Avian explained that she had unfinished business back home that she needed to take care of. She had been mulling over the realization that she left without ever seeing her home country or meeting someone of her race, and she felt that this moment was the best.
Sniper got angry, seeing her sudden decision to leave as abandonment. He was upset that she hadn't talked to him about it before (she hadn’t really taken the chance to discuss it, as it was a last minute decision). Sniper had invested great thought into their plan, where they would go and what they would do. Their sudden decision to leave him was hurtful. They had a nasty spat, leaving their ‘goodbyes’ on a sour note. But still, she jokingly asked him to promise her not to die while she was gone (and in return, she'd promise to come back). He gave her his pinky with a hollow smile and promised.
He went back to his parent's house, and she (with the help of Merasmus) went back home, to Galeo. She finally gets to Caelum after a month of travel and meets her own kind. While she's happy to finally be introduced to her people and culture, she ends up feeling...lost and homeless. No one knows who they are or any family they may have. She wants to go back. She had made a deal with Merasmus that she would return in a few months time. What they didn't know was that time works differently on Galeo vs Earth
She goes to the rendezvous point for Merasmus, and he doesn't show, nor do his portals. For weeks. So she gives up, thinking she's trapped there for good, feeling all kinds of terrible.
In her state of numbness, she decides to join the war effort for Caelum, hoping to do something (the war was ongoing, and had started when she was a newborn). She fights in the battle later known as the Battle of Jhoven. During this fight, without respawn or uber or anything, Avi gets hurt veeery badly. Her wings are mangled, and one of her legs is basically destroyed beneath the knee. One of the volcurin soldiers flies her body off the field, trying to save as many lives as he can. As he does this, she passes out from blood loss.
She doesn't have a soul, as it was stolen by a certain German. So, instead of bleeding to death, she has this vision...of something. She's in a forest, which shifts and sways as if made of water, and there's a woman.  An old, deer-like woman, with short silver hair and dark eyes that Avi would know anywhere. Avian rushes forward, in tears faster than she's ever cried in her life (which is like 3 times), and practically picks her deceased mother up in a hug. Sylvia barely gets words out bc Avi is holding her so tightly and heavily, but she gets that moment, that Valve Loophole Here's What You Need To Hear heaven moment. Avi starts apologizing immediately, for losing her, leaving home, becoming the nutcase she is... her momma shushes her and tells her how proud she is that Avi found herself a family, even a morally questionable one. How it wasn't their fault that Sylvia passed, or that she was alone for so long. Avi just holds her as she's saying this, mangled wings splayed on the dirt. They finally talk again, asking "Will I get to go home? Real home?...will I see you again?" and Sylvia just kinda sighs and says "I wish I knew...but unfortunately you're different. Different than all of us. And so we can't take you. But I love you, and I hope that you see them again."
Avian wakes up in a medical bed, days later, with her wings mangled, and part of her leg removed. Right then and there Avian knows that she'll never see her mother again, and that when she dies for good, she won’t be going to the same afterlife.
They become flightless, living around Caelum for a year and some. Eventually they travel by foot back to the rendezvous point. She lives around the area, in neighboring towns or just camping out. She has this desperate hope that maybe Merasmus will appear or open a portal like he did before. Others that she talks to think she's nuts.
Finally, after about 2 years from when she first arrived, Merasmus opens his portal. On Earth, it had been 6 months (he intended on bringing her back in 2, but he got caught up in some...legal issues).
She's back on earth, and she ends up meeting with Scout, Heavy, Saxton, and Mags at the empty Australium deposit. They have a heartfelt moment, and she joins them on the Mann Co Plane (she can’t fly anymore so she doesn’t complain). While catching up with Heavy and Scout, she notices that Jerry the pilot is acting...oddly nervous, moreso than usual.
They all parachute down to meet Miss Pauling and Demoman. It’s then that she learns that Sniper has died (medic didn’t tell them when he poured buckets of blood back in, so they all thought he was still a goner). She has a moment where she just...feels the world crumble around her. But she doesn’t get time to mourn as the Mannbots encroach on the group and she gets to fighting.
Lo and behold, Sniper finally leaves the building with Spy and Scout after the fighting had went on for a while. He’s ass naked, his mind still exhausted from being dead and then...he sees Seeker, wings crooked and a crude prosthetic on her left leg, ripping a Mann bot’s head from the shoulders. They exchange glances. Glances that are so muddled with sadness, exhaustion, shock, and anger, that the joy of seeing each other is subtle.
Sniper hadn’t seen her in 6 months, and Seeker hadn’t seen him for 2 years.

My TF2 Comic Series
This is a rough idea as to how I'd plan out a new on-going TF2 series if I were given the chance, based on what I know of established plot and my major assumptions about what some of the final developments are likely to be. When (if?) part 7 of the current TF2 comics storyline gets released, a lot of this may get rendered moot. I'm just spit-balling, anyway. It's fun! So! Here we go. Picking back up in the spring of 1974. Everything is different yet also pretty much exactly the same. Demo gets saddled with Merasmus, first as a roommate, then as a magical mentor. Merasmus knows he must eventually train a successor to carry his arcane knowledge into the future, and while this guy may be drunk half the time, he actually has a lot of potential. And besides, he did Merasmus a solid when he took him in. So Demo embarks on a wondrous-yet-annoying quest to unlock his magical potential and claim his alchemical heritage. Merasmus and Mrs. DeGroot get along like they've been friends their whole lives, of course. Demo's home life becomes a wacky supernatural sitcom starring himself, Merasmus, his mum, and his three familiars Eyelander, Bombnomicon, and Mini Monoculous. (Those three have their own weird dynamic. None of them actually like each other very much.) And hey, magic powers!!!! Zhanna and Soldier have the biggest, stupidest, most elaborate Hawaiian wedding ever because it's the furthest thing from that frozen Siberian hellscape she could imagine. (Soldier grumbles a bit that it's barely even America, but finally relents.) Literally everyone is invited, including any and all NPCs, old enemies, the ghost of Tom Jones, a clan of raccoons, and close family of the mercs. We get to meet Soldier's weirdly normal family and catch up with Zhanna's family. Soldier turns into a drama-bomb groomzilla while Zhanna is just overwhelmed with happiness. She falls into a coma from the mental shock and is roused out of it when magical intervention annoys her into returning to reality. Once married, they immediately begin furiously attempting to conceive a child. Like, more than they were before. Heavy himself is adjusting to his new family situation and being a little overbearing (unintentionally.) His mother is happy to be taken care of, so he moves her to America and builds her a beautiful cottage not too far from where he lives. It has all the amenities, including a high-powered laser mounted on the roof. Zhanna is starting her own family, and he's secretly giddy at the idea of being an uncle. Yana and Bronislava are both off on their own world-trotting adventures, but they don't write him as often as he would like. He's collecting the selfies they mail him from all the exotic locations they visit into a photo album, which he likes to flip through and feel that big brother combination of pride and worry. Medic has to deal with his past, such as his parents. He's finally gotten around to going through the box of keepsakes and documents left to him by his mother, where he makes some interesting discoveries, and his elderly father comes sniffing around, presumably to take advantage of his estranged son's advances in rejuvenatory medicine. Meanwhile, occasional bids from Mephisto, Perdition Representative and current minority shareholder of his souls, to tempt him into trading for more favors are casually swatted away. (I mean, until he actually wants something he can't accomplish himself.) Medic really shouldn't underestimate a sufficiently pissed-off devil, though. They have ways. Throughout every story, hints are occasionally dropped that Pyro is an alien. Some are subtle, some... less so. Someone important apparently takes notice when Pyro begins to be followed around by 70s-era X-Files style FBI agents. Balloonicorn delights in terrorizing them, but Pyro is looking forward to making real good friends! Ultimately, nothing is ever revealed one way or another about Pyro's nature, so everyone just ends up kind of confused. Saxton Hale has stepped down as the big boss of Mann Co (handed over to Miss Pauling, who will sometimes call for advice) but remains an investor. He and Mags are now a power couple, but he's going through a mid-life crisis in which he's seeking out and wrestling the most legendary, dangerous monsters in the world, which is getting dangerous even for him. Mags has her own complicated feelings about the rekindled relationship, including the baggage from her past marriages, brief as they were. Eventually Saxton must face the fact that the most challenging foe he must wrestle into submission is... HIS DUTY TO MANKIND (and Mags.) They return to Australia to help rebuild after the loss of all the world's Australium and oppose Charles Darling's growing post-apocalyptic Thunderdome-esque zoo-based empire. Sniper has manned a disastrous submarine expedition to the sunken ruins of New Zealand (because he built it himself and refused to ask for help) and barely survived. He reluctantly asks his fellow mercs and Miss Pauling for help in a second expedition, recovering artifacts of his lost heritage in return for sharing it with Mann Co. He also gets roped into Mad Max-esque adventures with Saxton Hale and Mags. And of course, his birth parents are still at-large, which he doesn't know how to deal with AT ALL. Miss Pauling is juggling several explosives at once. First, she's just getting the hang of being Mann Co. boss (including having people do things FOR HER, her assistants Bidwell and Reddy), dealing with the terrorist cult Rise & Shine that's out to ruin the company, hiring new staff (Driver to help with the cult situation and a new merc liaison to fill her old role, Chicken Girl), forging her vision for the future of Mann Co., and deciding how to deal with the company's inconvenient ward Olivia Mann. She has her fair share of frazzled moments and sudden urges to dump all her responsibilities and run far, far away, but she never does. That's not who she is. Oh, and she gets a girlfriend, so that's nice. The new liaison Chicken Girl (as everyone insists on calling her after Scout recognizes her) doesn't actually remember Scout and finds him very aggravating, but not enough to quit her new super-legit job, which she's actually very good at, once she gets the hang of it. She just wishes they'd stop calling her Chicken Girl. Just "Chick" isn't an acceptable substitute. Engie is increasingly called on by Miss Pauling to consult on developing exciting new tech for Mann Co, which is especially important in a world without Australium to fuel effortless scientific discovery. The McMANN is his first such success, and he's so excited and proud! He collaborated with Driver, the new blood, on its final design, but it was 95% his project. (He's pretty sure that goes without saying.) Engie spends a lot of his time quietly tinkering away at ideas to make the McMANN even better, but he cooking up some other stuff that he knows Miss Pauling will be interested in. Even though some of it's a little... weird. Scout, Spy, and Scout's ma are awkwardly trying to form a conventional family unit. This is extremely complicated because Scout is still convinced his father is Tom Jones and there are all those older brothers to deal with. The most successful moments happen when Scout's ma tricks the two of them into spending time with her for a nice outing like a picnic at an outdoor concert, a baseball game, a demolition derby, etc. (Of course, there are shenanigans.) We also learn about the history behind Scout's parentage. The Mann brothers are all still hanging around as increasingly irrelevant ghosts, doing silly ghost stuff. Since they're triplets, none of them can move on unless they all do, and it's a constant source of arguments. Redmond & Blutarch just want to pull spooky pranks on people, but Gray takes as much time as he can to try to influence and even possess his daughter Olivia, which she eventually starts fighting. I would include Driver in this new set-up, as previously mentioned. As the new recruit, she'd be the one to ask questions about stuff the audience might want answers to, which is a useful function in fiction where a bunch of crazy shit happens all the time. She'd have her own little character arcs, too, but I've gone on enough about all that. And do keep an eye on that weird new cult that has it out for Mann Co. Rise & Shine? Yeah, I've mentioned them a few times. To the public, they seem so cute and harmless, with their chubby smiling mascot of a guru, talk show coverage, novelty songs, and funny comic book series. But we know better.
