Here's a random drawing I did of some of my OCs, again sorry for anyone who saw or was apart of the Enot/inv/sofanthiel group drawing and wondering where it went, the mentions aren't working, so I will be posting it later on, it for some reason won't let me mention more then 5 people so yeah, when I figure out things I promise I'll repost it! Anyways my OCs! The long-tailed butterfly/dragonfly racoon slugcat is Coco. The really colorful one with the rare-fraction cell is Oculas. The tiny fawn looking child is Oculas's kid aaaannnd... I don't have a name for her yet :< The dark slug cat that is technically my nightcat is Harvest and then the glowy child is Luminescent or Lume, Harvest's kid!

Slugcat Desgins! (Inv and nightcat coming soon)

Alrighty! I have finally made designs that I think are decent! I’ll explain some of the accessories on them! :]

Survivor- survivor’s accessories are: a animal skull (head), and an animal spine

In my first play through, I fiddled around with things and stuff, so you know, I wanted to portray that into this design! The skull is from a scavenger, and so is the spine!

Monk- monks accessories are: a lizard skin, karma flowers, and a cloak!

Monk is known for taming lizards, but what if they die on them? I like to think monk takes its body and uses it as a cape, the karma flowers represent the death, and friendship, and the cloak was from moon, she ripped off haft of her cloak to give to monk. Also, monk had lost a arm due to the fall, making them weak in throws, and had also had an eye on their thigh, but also had that scarred.

Hunter- hunters accessories are: a vulture mask, and string

Hunter the strong one, and had fought a vulture, bringing down its mask. This wasn’t any normal vulture, because NSH sent him to kill it, testing to see if they were strong enough. The supposedly “string” was from ripping off a neck piece from a vulture, but it was long and thin enough to hold their vulture mask on their head. Hunter has three eyes, due to NSH being rushed to save moon.

Artificer- artificers accessories are: (it is not shown in this, but she wears scavenger bones and heads, skin and their eyes make good pearls, her accessories will be shown in the drawing with Inv and nightcat)

Obviously, artificer couldn’t just leave the bones and skin of scavengers lying around, so, like Hunter, she found string. Not from an animal, though. But from those king masks with pearls on them. She then equipped the accessories. However, she did also see how scavengers eyes looked like pearls, so when she killed them, she plucked them out. She also has four arms.

Gourmand- gourmand’s accessories are: a vulture mask, a king vulture mask, green lizard skin, white lizard skin, and the tongue of the white lizard to keep the two skins together.

Gourmand had always talked about how they defeated creatures, and fought bravely, and she had the accessories to prove it! ( and the scars ) sometimes, the slugpups act as if gourmand is the king scavenger, because of all the objects and accessories she has.

Rivulet- rivulets accessories are: sea nets (litter)

Rivulet had always been collecting things for moon, but they sometimes got themselves tangled in litter, sometimes they could get out, or, they get stuck. If they do, they have a technique to get out, but sometimes they’re unfortunate. (like now.) getting tangled in something can stick to them. It may hurt, or not. But if it doesn’t, moon keeps it on them, or they dodge when she wants to get it out. Rivulet also has two more front legs, and two more back legs.

Spearmaster- spearmasters accessories are: a triangle like hat (I don’t know what they’re called), and a sun eyepatch that looks like an eye.

Spearmaster was a messenger, and suns wanted iterators to know that, so they added a sun eyepatch, each though there should’ve been one on their chest. The hat was also from suns, to store the pearl, but atlas, spearmaster didn’t know. Should’ve been more clear suns!… spearmaster has four arms, three legs, two more eyes on their torso, and one more set of eyes on their face.

Saint- saints accessories are:three pearls dangling from their tail and chest.

Saint was the last slugcat, and had lots of opportunities to gather lost pearls. They have their eyes covered by hair, but have three eyes on their chest, four arms, but a third pair can come out of nowhere, they have two arms on their torso, and a Large scar connecting the three dots on their head.

Eat up rarepair slugcat shipping community! (Some rambling under the cut)

I had this ship in my mind for AGES. One day I just thought to myself „what if enot/inv, saint and nightcat were all in a polycule and also they‘re all different flavors of non-binary.“ and now I finally visualized this. Also needed a excuse to draw nightcat because I always wanted to design it.. very proud of it!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this ship before, maybe I did and I forgot it but I still gave it a personal name, I call them „God trio“ since they‘re all like.. weird entities. Anyway, the whole concept of this ship is literally what if non-binary entities who are somehow god in a weird way were all dating.

Yesterday we challenged ourselves to make headcanon designs for EVERY SINGLE canon slugcat in rain world. It was painful but very very fun!! And good design/shape language practice!

Design notes/headcanons under the cut! We're super proud of these!! Might change/simplify them a bit here and there based on what's easier/more fun to draw, but these are our interpretations!

General Slugcat Headcanons

Long tail, three fingers on each paw, sluglike invertebrate in the vague shape of a feline? Tails usually aren't prehensile.

Equally suited for two-legged and four-legged locomotion, very dexterous and agile.

VERY diverse in adaptations as time goes on; most slugcats have purposed organism ancestors.

Some slugcat populations evolve pseudo-fur (different from the Saint's fur, which is actually symbiotic moss)

As rain becomes harsher and the climate eventually becomes colder, slugcats first evolve towards more aquatic adaptations, then towards adaptations which conserve warmth.

Many of the semi-aquatic adaptations, such as slicker bodies which exchange heat with the environment quickly, prove detrimental to the overall success of the species once the world freezes over.

Survivor

The most basic slugcat and a baseline from which all the other headcanon designs branch off of.

Generally round/slightly square silhouette.

Yeah that's a slugcat alright.

Monk

Just a little guy-

Design has similar shape language as Survivor but with an added heart motif!!

Shorter tail to make the design rounder/more compact overall.

Used several shades of yellow from official art!! They look like mustard! Or pudding!

Their abnormally bright coloration probably made Survivor more protective over them.

Hunter

Bigger, stronger, more scruffy than the other base-game slugs, but less aggressive than Artificer.

The Rot is beginning to show through some of their scars but IT'S FINE HE'S FINE it's not going to spread further.

The regions of darker fur are either from the Rot or just old scars.

Neutral side effect of the Rot is that he eventually gains the ability to spit slightly corrosive acid.

Nightcat/"Wanderer"

Eldritch being that defies the laws of the world /j

Has iridescent fur with sparkly flecks in it!! They ARE the night!

Sort of an echo but not?? They're physical but impervious to harm.

The lack of gold accents marks them as not being of the void.

Rainworld devs please put Nightcat back in the game please-

Sofanthiel/Inv/Enot/???

One time we read an article about countershading camouflage. Sofanthiel is BRIGHTLY COLORED on their back and bioluminescent, they have anti-camouflage.

The constant blushing is actually just more warning coloration. They're just a little bit poisonous <3 (which is why they're the only slugcat besides Artificer that can Maul)

Overall, based on a sea slug! Happy mermay!

Probably also some sort of pseudo-echo. Stuck with Nightcat in the noncanon jail, so sad-

Gourmand

Lots of round shapes and swirls, meant to look approachable and friendly!

Overall, less adaptations, and more neutral colors, similar to Survivor and Monk.

INCREDIBLY STRONG, INCREDIBLY CLEVER, FULL OF WONDER AT THE WORLD-

One of the only slugcats consistently drawn with a visible mouth because he just doesn't look right without that big ol smile.

Spearmaster

A cryptid among slugcats (affectionate). No mouth, but an abnormally long snout, they can smell Everything.

The tallest of the slugs, with?? Some semblance of a bone structure somehow?? Suns what did you do to them??

Fast, strong, but so so light-

The only slugcat with four fingers on each paw, to be more dexterous with spears and signing.

When not needing to communicate, they usually travel on all fours; it's easier on their pseudo-bones.

Their patterns were not intentionally meant to look like a Liepard but it's kind of funny.

Artificer

Has the same reverse-countershading that Sofanthiel has, but for a different reason.

They are CONSTANTLY burning with rage and every creature that looks at them can see it. Who cares if they don't blend in, they can fight whatever threatens them.

Bristly, fur-like coat is slick with flammable, faintly iridescent chemicals.

Has a shorter tail than most slugcats, with coarse hairs on the end which can be used to quickly ignite the chemical they produce, like a match.

Meant to vaguely resemble a Scavenger for the ironyyyyy

Rivulet

Slick, aerodynamic, with webbed paws and fin-like structures on their forelimbs/tail.

Actually kind of short but when on land they're usually standing on their hind legs at full height, ready to pounce.

They have such huge ears to prevent from overheating on land (which is becoming less of a concern as the climate shifts) and to direct falling water to drip onto their external gills.

BIG OL EYES

Saint

The most far-removed from other slugcats in terms of adaptations.

Their "fur" is actually a heat-retaining symbiotic moss that all slugcats are born with now.

This moss originated from the increasingly watery environments that slugcats began living in by Rivulet's time.

More compact, vaguely rabbit-like proportions. The tufts on the sides of their head are derived from the external gills of their ancestors.

Huge pupils for taking in the small amount of light that remains between blizzards.

Blood and gore warning

So like... you guys know those rpg status effects? Well im planning to draw each slugcat with a satus effect of my choosing. (Including inv/enot and nightcat) each day im gonna draw a new slugcat with a new status effect eaither from an actual game or made up

Also i would love if you guys did this as well, cause i really wanna see what you guys can come up with

I seriously doubt anyone is gonna be doing this cause i aint a big tumblr account but it would mean a lot to me if you all did

Here you can see hunter having the "bleeding" stagus effect, one that many rpgs have,

Now im also go tell you guys my interpretation of the status effects too.

So for bleeding, how it works is simple: "every turn lose X HP, you lose more the more damage you take, but you lose less when you heal, the effect can only go away after battle ends, getting damage taken from 'bleeding or poison' will not make you lose more HP"
