Something I haven't thought about much since the Technical Test but occurs to me now a month later is how I initially assumed Eris was working like vigilante style with the Chronos fight. It seems strange but it was based only on the dialogue between Hecate and Nemesis where she tells Nem that if she doesn't like her job she can do whatever Eris is doing. Which makes me think.

That's such an interesting line from Hecate. Cause when we meet Eris for real in the game, she is doing everything in her power to stop Melinoe. It's the complete opposite of that erroneous impression. Unless, it's not completely wrong.

Eris's whole deal, as is in the mythology, is that she wants to keep conflict ongoing as much as possible. She thrives on strife, and never picks a side but instead baits all involved to fan the flames. She's on everyone's side and at the same time, no one's. That likely carries over to Hades 2.

So what was Eris doing when she was gone from the Crossroads? It's entirely possible she was fighting Chronos forces, if only to cause more strife and prevent him from re-establishing his Golden Age. Cause then the Strife would actually end and a new order is established (which she hates). She only stops cause Melinoe becomes a larger threat to that Strife and decides that she needs to tip the scales in the opposite direction.

Alternatively, she was baiting whatever was attacking Olympus. There's a convo where she mentions that things were finally getting interesting, after all. Which coincides with Melinoe going to the surface to stop the attack there. Granted, this doesn't necessarily negate the earlier theory. The attack could've easily happened as Eris was "helping" the Unseen with Chronos's forces.

Either way, if Eris was "helping" the Unseen at that moment, it sort of makes sense why she's regarded the way she is in the Crossroads. Treated as an annoyance despite actively preventing Melinoe from achieving her goal. Cause much like her keepsake, Eris is a "tool" that can be beneficial with a high risk. If the conflict is tipped against you to the point that your opponent might win, Eris would likely aid you. But if the reverse is true, then she'd be againist. Very risky, not an ally in the true sense, but can be useful in certain circumstances, which a tactician such as Odysseus might consider.

Favorite Ship / Supernova

Lately, things have been calm and she got her paperwork for the day done sooner than usual, so with the free time Ikora decided it would be nice to have a spontaneous date. She sends a message to Eris, hoping they aren’t busy at the moment. At least, far as she knew there shouldn’t be anything taking up their time. After a few moments Ikora smiles when her screen lights up with a response.

It’s a cool, clear night where you’d swear you could see every star in the galaxy that wasn’t eclipsed by the moonlight. A sight like this wasn’t possible in the last city, and seldom did Ikora get the chance to venture out of it. Duty was a chain and it kept her not too far from the city, but in the rare chances she had the opportunity she wanted to take advantage.

Setting down a blanket on the side of a hill, Ikora places two comfortable, large pillows she had against the incline. Eris patiently stood by, their form illuminated by the light of the moon as they looked up to the sky. She wondered how much hive eyes could pick up on the distant pin-pricks of light, having been told they weren't the same as human ones. If you compared it to human vision, technically you could say they were blind.

Nonetheless, they mentioned their way of “seeing” just works differently now. They still had a sense of their surroundings, even knew the distance between themselves and the moon. An odd thing to be precognitive of but they chalked it up to it being the birthplace of their transformation, when Eris became kin to the very enemy they sought the end of.

How things have changed. Outside of that Eris had a sensitivity to paracausality which gave her a refined sense of other guardians as well as the shape of their light, despite being without. Strange changes, but not without some benefits. Ikora reaches over to gently bump her hand against theirs to catch Eris’ attention without startling them. As if much could startle them anymore.

“Finished?” Eris asks as they turn to look at Ikora who nods, the pair’s hands linking together as they settle onto the cozy patch. They lean back, side by side with hands still intertwined and multiple points of contact between their bodies. Silence hung in the air for a short time as they enjoyed the view, until Ikora broke it with a question. One she had long wondered about since Eris’ ascent from the Hellmouth. 

“Do you miss it?” She softly questions, gently squeezes Eris’ hand with her thumb rubbing against the length of theirs. “Miss what?” They reply after a short second. “The light. What you were, before-” Ikora stops herself choosing not to say the rest. 

A contemplative pause, “It doesn’t matter now, does it? It happened. All I can do is move forward in spite of it.” That solemn answer cuts straight through Ikora’s question with a knife’s edge. She turns her head toward Eris who continues, “Nothing good comes from dwelling on what’s missing.” and then a little quieter. “Do you wish I was unchanged?” 

Ikora frowns and quickly sits up, turning her whole body towards them. “I only wish for you to return from the things you hunt every time, safe and sound.” Eris gazes at her as she leans over to rest a hand against their cheek. “It doesn’t matter, as long as you’re still here.” She gives Eris an affectionate smile.

Eris’ own lips quirk up as they sit up as well, faces hovering inches apart before they make the first move to kiss Ikora. It lasts mere seconds as they slowly break apart but still close enough to feel each other’s breath. “In my darkest, loneliest moments, I miss the presence of your light over mine.” 

To think, after everything that’s happened including losing the light, Eris would rather have Ikora leaves her feeling a certain way. She feels the void open its empty maw in her chest, wanting to devour her heart over the proclamation. “Do you?” Ikora breathes out, letting the void energy trickle through her fingertips against Eris’ cheek.

Eris’ shivers a little from the sensation as they turn their face more into her hand, the ever present dark tears dissipate against Ikora’s radiant light. “I do.” Almost reluctantly, they retreat from the physical contact to look Ikora full on when they ask, “Show me your light.”

It comes out not as a question but like a lover’s request for their partner to share their body. And traveler save her, she finds herself bending easily to it. Usually Ikora wasn’t for unnecessary displays of her light, but she couldn’t resist Eris. So she adjusts into a kneeled position and brings her hands to hover in front of her mid-air.

Fluorescent violet light begins to form in a small, concentrated ball between her hands, steadily growing in size and luminescence. Ikora envisions in her mind pouring the void into a container, particles being shifted in an even circular motion that continues to slowly get bigger. 

It’s the size of a kick ball when she decides to stand up, purple light shining its hue across the two of them. Eris watches the nova bomb increase further and further until Ikora has to lift it over her head and release it up toward the sky, flying up and up to a seemingly impossible height until it explodes like a collapsing star.

Like a firework streaks of void shoot outward from the center and leave glittering trails of void as the bolts try and fail to find a target, thus bursting into smaller showers of purple that sparkle amongst the starry sky. An imprint of the void lingers like the burn of an afterimage from a too bright light.

“Beautiful.” Eris says in appreciation. Ikora sits back down with them as they reach out to grab her hand and trace it, making her shiver in return. She pulls their hand up to her mouth and kisses the knuckles of it, huffing a short laugh. “I’m glad you can still find beauty in the light.”

I’ve gotten a few anons since I started doing my rereads (which is weird because I’ve done them before, it was just on my other account that many if not most of the same people interact with) but to be clear: I am anti no one of the acotar series. Ok, I know the theories and claws are flying about Eri running somewhere, and the Rewind Tomura theory, and is she about to get involved and rewind Tomura into Tenko.

But I really think it's not what it looks like because Eri's horn is really small right now. And not too long ago, in the story itself, she rewound Mirio and that used up her built up energy, right?

Even if she is close enough geographically to get to their battle, I don't think she has the energy built up to rewind Tomura ALL the way to a young, Tenko state.

OH OH OH, I FORGOT TO MENTION. DEVELOPMENTS FOR THE CHILDHOOD FATES AU !!!! AFTER JACKS AND SCARLETT FIND CHRYSI!!!!!! literally, like—OKAY so chrysi had secretly met with scarlett and julian, before they figured out that she was exactly who they were looking for (due to jacks not telling them her full name…. she was going by di. they WOULDVE connected the dots if SOMEONE had told them her full name was chryseis diana. julian nearly throttles jacks when they all figure out that chrysi’s been sending them in circles while she figured out her own plans). jacks has no clue what chrysi looks like currently. they only rlly know that azure is her right-hand man (& they suspect he’s more, but jacks refuses to believe that. even tho he knows dark-haired men are chrysi’s type. ummmm.)

but then they go to a fancy party/gala/smth?????? because scarlett/julian/jacks figured out chrysi was going to be there!! finally, they’ve tracked her down!! they’re going to surprise her and make her come back to lead the fates!! everything’s all coming together :3

well, jokes on them. chrysi knew they’d be coming + they’re all part of the bait for her trap for eris. thank you all for coming. you’re so easy to manipulate. also, thanks azure for being pretty (azure’s like yayyy i contributed <- is actively helping chrysi with this & has a large hand in its success 💀)

it, like, semi-works. eris is temporarily caught by azure (and she is VERY shocked he’s still alive. she put an end to this timeline—she was waiting for chrysi to die so she could put an end to it. you’re telling me she was promoted after killing azure and he’s NOT PERMANENTLY DEAD IN THIS TIMELINE??????? she’s going to get soooo demoted for this…….), but then 1) she escapes (azure’s magic isn’t quite the same, after chrysi brought him back from the dead…) and 2) chrysi starts vomiting blood. turns out keeping azure alive is taking a toll on her + every time he uses magic, he’s actively hurting her.

SORRY I MEANT TO FOLLOW UP EARLIER but I got caught up in talking about The One And Only Thing I've ever added to Jo's backstory and gotten invested in so I lost track of time 😭BUT NO YEAH GOING THROUGH THE LIST WAS A 10/10 EXPERIENCE... I just really enjoy your commentary and seeing your takeaways so I don't need anything In-Depth to have a good time, even just finding out what your faves are is pretty neat; as a guide I definitely think it sells the works while setting realistic expectations overall :] On That Note would love to hear your thoughts on the movie!

Me shaking people on other platforms: Eris wants to have connections! To be loved! That's why she hates the fact that she's Strife Incarnate, cause it has and continues to impede her ability to make connections. She carried a bell around on her on the off chance "that [she] find[s] a friend." She wouldn't do that if this wasn't something that wasn't on her mind!

It bothers her that Melinoe kept getting her nectar but she didn't have anything to reciprocate. It wasn't just the flipping of the game conventions here (though she acknowledges it and likes the idea of swapping bottles back and forth) - on nectar three she was already promising to get Melinoe something in return for the nectar. Melinoe was of course, nervous cause the way Strife worded it sounded like a Threat. But even with her intonation you can hear she's being genuine about it and she does later pull through with her own nectar, Which she was nervous about giving at first cause she was worried it would be taken the wrong way by Mel, but became more pleased when not only did Mel take it the right way, joked about it in a way that Eris herself loved.

Eris is not an easy person to get to know. Requires a lot of effort on one's own part to do it (stares at Mel). Part of it is her nature of Strife and part of it is doubling down after being unable to escape people's expectations. She also enjoys annoying the Shit out of people (likely cause of those two aforementioned reasons). But that doesn't necessarily exclude her from having other motivations or desires (something something those thug guys having dreams despite being thugs from the Saloon in Tangled [2010]).

y’all are actually wild to me you constantly complain about how ugly taylor’s merch is then the graphic designers at umg hear your feedback and create good designs and you’re still not happy! you claim it’s stealing fan art but fail to see the graphics directly correlate with the new stage production and aesthetics of the ttpd lyric booklet, and if you were to get mega technical putting taylor’s lyrics on shirts is stealing her art, taking the images on getty without accreditation and changing them is stealing a photographers art, ect ect when fan art is stolen it is terrible and horrible but umg deciding to invest in their design team and give them the creative freedom to take a little more time with this collection (these items have probably been in production for months btw) and do a slower rollout instead of dropping all merch at once is such a take truly

Just reread the first chapter of Reel and Deal and went “oh yeah this is good isn’t it.” Almost like the writer knows exactly what I want to happen.

Too bad they’re only about a third of the way done. Also too bad they’re me, and not even I can read the finished fic, partially because my brain’s favorite parts of the story are all more than halfway through the sequel.

ume’s morning hair routine !

The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow across the room. You sat on the edge of the bed, watching as Umemiya finished his shower, his hair damp and unruly. He always took great care of his hair, meticulously styling it every morning, but today you offered to help.

"Let me do your hair today," you said, smiling as you picked up the hairdryer and flat iron.

Umemiya paused, slightly surprised, then smiled back. "Alright, but don't mess it up," he teased, sitting down in front of you.

You chuckled, feeling a flutter of warmth in your chest. "I promise I won't."

As you carefully dried his hair, you couldn't help but admire the way it shone under the light. His hair had always been soft and silky, and you loved the way it framed his face when it was styled just right.

Once his hair was dry, you picked up the flat iron, gently running it through each section of his hair. Umemiya closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of your hands working through his locks. It was a rare moment of intimacy, one that made your heart swell with affection.

"There," you said softly, smoothing down the last strand. "Perfect."

Umemiya opened his eyes and turned to look at you, a playful grin on his lips. "How do I look?”

"Handsome as always," you replied, leaning in to plant a kiss on his forehead.

He chuckled, reaching up to cup your cheek. "Thank you, my love." he said, his voice soft and sincere.

As he stood up to get dressed, you felt a sense of contentment wash over you. These simple moments, these quiet mornings spent together, were what made your relationship with Umemiya so special.

And as he turned to leave for the day, you couldn't resist calling out, "Don't forget to come back home looking just as handsome, okay?"

Umemiya laughed, waving as he headed out the door. "I'll try my best!"

As the door closed behind him, you found yourself smiling, already looking forward to the next morning you could spend together.
