Half-sisters with Diao Chan, Dian Zhao ( usually only called lady Dian) ran away at around age 16 from their home to Lujian during the rebellion of the Yellow Turbans. She would be proven worthy join the Wu army and shortly after become Sun Shangxiang’s bodyguard. At around 21 she would make a plan to capture an enemy stronghold in around Yidu led her to have more strategic control, where she would gradually work her way up to become a lead strategist in the Wu army at around Chibi. She is a rather cold and serious woman that won’t take any jokes, which makes her usually pretty emotionally detached. She adorns high-ranking officer armor with a red halberd.

Best score /musical moment (instrumental): “Save you from the Death” by Ruiqi Zhao. This song is so good it was used in two shows, airing at the same time, produced by the same man, on the same channel. We first hear it in Never let me go (episode 05) as Palm ravenously kisses Nueng (for a long long long long time) for the first time. AND THEN it’s back in Moonlight Chicken (episode 01) as Uncle Jim and Wen do everything but kiss under the moonlight. Aof and Jojo really said we both using it to be desperate and erotic and what of it. 10/10 no notes.

Runner up: “Refined enlightenment” by Howard Harper-Barnes in I feel you linger in the air (episode 07): The soaring strings that perfectly follows Jom’s arousal as he masturbates to the memory of the most erotic oil massage ever. Refined INDEED. // “Bleeding Signs” by Chris Shards in Never let me go (episode 05): Dark and moody indie rock rumbles as Nueng reels from his brutal outing, homophobia, and Ben’s betrayal before collapsing in Palm’s arms in the yellow of Bangkok polluted twilight.

Best score/ musical moment (with lyrics): “I can’t lose it all” by Ben Goldstein in The Eight Sense (episode 06) The singer belting “I’m losing my mind (…) I can’t lose it all” are the only words we hear for the last minutes of a great, hazy fugue of an episode. (Last spoken line: “To give you trauma” before the lovers start kissing.) Jae Won and Ji Hyun make love and when the song stops, I was left with greys waves, panic, and a burning “JAE WON WERE YOU OR WERE YOU NOT HIGH OUT OF YOUR MIND FOR ALL OF THIS? Was that song a call back to “Where is my mind” of Fight Club fame just to play with our nerves? Good times. //Runner up: “Monsoons” by Johannes Bornlöf and Le June in Never let me go. This song plays for two minutes straight as Palm sways drunkenly in his lover’s arms as he reels from his mother’s violent death. “Monsoon rain and chest pains”, blurry lens and sloppy, tear-soaked kissing. Peak lakorn.

then i see comments that there is this one song WYB recently listened to. meaning, as recent as when XZ flew to singapore which is called 超人不会飞 (superman can’t fly) by Jay Chou. i know WYB and everyone else is a big fan of Jay Chou but the clowning comes from the timing of when he listened to it. let me get to that first.

turtles are interpreting it as WYB longing to “fly” to where XZ is and be with him but he can’t because of all his work commitments. he wants to take a breather. thinking about what his life is and the constraints, and at times like this, when they spent days in Beijing, but now they have to be apart, it affects him even more.

however when i read the lyrics, it could also be because he can relate to what jay chou is singing about. here’s the english translation i found here. i have bolded the ones i felt like WYB relates too. literally no need for explanation. just read it. It fits with his status in life so much that it’s almost scary.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with how cpfs are relating this to cpn cause that’s just how it is. But sometimes, there are other reasons why they do what they do.

Liu Bei/Zhang Fei/Guan Yu: the second shot confirms our favourite boat fights at Chi Bi. Final shot looks like an aged-up version of Guan Yu.

WU

Lu Su/Cheng Pu

Lu Meng(?): fairly certain that's him on the right but we don't get another good shot of him.

Sun Jian: i have to. i have to go.

Sun Quan/Zhou Yu: Gang Ning is visible in the bottom left. Lu Su and Cheng Pu are also visible behind Zhou Yu. I have a feeling that this is the same cinematic as the panning shot of Lu Meng/Cheng Pu/Lu Su. This definitely looks like the prelude to Chi Bi.

WEI

Cao Cao/Xiahou Dun: Dian Wei and Xu Chu are in the first shot, and Zhang Liao is in the second.

Dian Wei: rip. Looks like the ending of Wancheng.

Xun You: my boy. Interestingly looks to be wearing the exact same outfit as DW9 with some colour swaps. Cheng Pu appears to be the same.

OTHER

Zhang Jiao: hi

Dong Zhuo: Looks like they're ditching the silly side to his design and I really hope they make him an actual terror and not a punchline.

Hua Xiong: with this and Cheng Pu + Xun You I think it pretty much confirms everyone from DW9's made it in*, including the unique NPCs.

Yuan Shao: includes a shot without his helmet, shock and horror. The second shot looks to be at Hulao after the three brothers join. There's a generic officer hanging around them here and in the first shot of the three brothers earlier, which is interesting.

Diao Chan: queen

Lu Bu: honestly stunned they didn't give him a more prominent shot.

Unknown: this guy doesn't turn around so I can't tell who he is. He's playable against the Yellow Turbans, and seems to be in Lu Bu's colours and using claws as his weapon. On second look it might be Hua Xiong again?

Unknown: the PC seems to be mourning someone who's dying in a burning building. No idea who this could be or if it's another fictional addition. Seems feminine, could be a female relative of the PC?

Other things of interest

Zhao Yun didn't show up at all, not even in the background

The Guan babies didn't show up once

Cao Cao no longer seems to be voiced by Douglas Rye, fucking rip

This confirms you can play as regular officers and not just the PC; unsure if that's freeplay-exclusive

The music whips

We've seen our PC fighting with the Yellow Turbans, fighting with Shu, fighting with Wei, and fighting against Liu Bei at Chi Bi, which makes me think there is a lot of choice to how you can progress in this

Since we know Jin is deconfirmed and we haven't seen any late-game battles, and there seems to be a lot of branches to replay, I'm wondering if the game ends as early as Chi Bi; my current bet is on Fan Castle

*Because of the early ending I'm betting that Xin Xianying has been cut
