My speedy thoughts on The Hekataeon 👇🏻⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ The Hekataeon is a stunning book. Its a book that's beautifully bound, full of gorgeous art and evocative words. 🗝⠀ I like how the book addresses Hekate's mantles and how it also addresses the topics of her consorts and partners. ⠀ It's full of solid rituals that have power behind them. ✨⠀ ⠀ Some of the visualisation work is a little too planned for me- I'm an ecstatic trance traditional witch, so for me, my journeys just don't need that much input. Give me vague details of where I need to go and I'll find my way there eventually. 🛤⠀ ⠀ That being said, the visualisations do work in sync with the rites. They weave themselves in beautifully and the rites require sigils, and flames and chants in the darkness.⠀ And that's my kinda rite. 🔥🔥🔥⠀ ⠀ I'm thinking about working through the Hekataeon with you guys so you can get a good grasp on what the book has to offer. 🤔⠀ I'm also friends with a few people also working through the book. So it'll be fun watching us all bounce around with it! 🤗⠀ ⠀ °⠀ °⠀ °⠀ °⠀ °⠀ °⠀ °⠀ #witchesofinstagram #instawitch #witchessociety #witchsociety #witchesofig #witchesofinsta #healersofinstagram #witchstagram #pagansofinstagram ⠀ #morningdevotional #dailydevotional ⠀ #triplegoddess #DianaNemorensis #CovenGods⠀ #Hekate #GoddessDiana #GoddessHekate #GoddessArtemis #GoddessLuna #WitchMother #QueenOfWitches #QueenOfTheFae #FaeQueen #GoddessSelene ⠀ #workmywill #occult #occultist #occultism #asabovesobelow #knowthyself Remember to follow me on Instagram to keep updated and also unique Instagram-only competitions! http://bit.ly/2vSGnAc

We use the ten-pointed star in my tradition, as well as other stars and shapes for different purposes. (Such as the inverted pentagram and inverted septagram for example) The ten-pointed star is the only one I wear regularly apart from the Pentagram. The ten-pointed star is used for different purposes all the time within my tradition. One of the most common uses is the 7 directions, and Lucifer, Diana and Aradia. Another common use is the 6 directions, Void guardian, and the three of our pantheon. (With the centre being the centre of the star as a guiding point) Different people within my coven had different preferences depending on their own personal gnosis. We used it for a host of other spirits in our tradition too- but that's too long for an instagram post! The points can also be swapped out for concepts rather than spirits, and occasionally the intersecting points and the 'bars' of the star would also be used. It's the same with other stars- something that has been used since Pythagoras. Something I see a lot of people use the septagram for is the planetary bodies- but My tradition didn't work with the majority of the planetary bodies. We would often use the star for the 7 spirits who stand as guardians but the other use we used it for was the Seven rays that appear behind the head of Lucifer and Diana. (You can see this in art relating to earlier PIE roots, such as Hekate, Apollo and Helios) We would also occasionally use it for the 6 guardians and the void guardian- with the centre as a guide. It has also been used in the past for the 7 vowels of magic, based on the seven wandering stars of Greek mythology! I haven't been able to go into much detail here, but I hope it's been vaguely interesting! What symbols do you use and what for? ° ° ° ° ° #traditionalwitch #traditionalwitchcraft #pagansofinstagram #witch #witchcraft #witchesofinstagram #DianaNemorensis #GodLucifer #Noctifero #Aradia #CovenGods #GodApollo #GoddessDiana #GoddessHekate #GoddessArtemis #goddessNyx #godErebus #Lucifero #GoddessNemesis #WitchFather #WitchMother #KingOfWitches #QueenOfWitches #KingOfTheFae #QueenOfTheFae #ShiningOnes #FaeKing #FaeQueen #magick #TheDevil Remember to follow me on Instagram to keep updated and also unique Instagram-only competitions! https://ift.tt/2ud96ir

Great Dark Mother, Hekate. She has sent me so many messages lately, her many faces turning towards me- encouraging me to go deeper, seek further. Connect to the underworld and the descent. I lay out my devotions, my prayer, my songs. I burn sweet mugwort, rose petals and thorns. I am forever grateful to She, the witch mother. Tonight I honour Diana-Hekate, the Blessed Dark Diana in descent to the underworld. ° ° ° ° ° ° ° #witchgram #witchesofinstagram #instawitch #witchessociety #witchsociety #witchstagram #pagansofinstagram #realwitchesofinstagram #greywitch #traditionalwitch #traditionalwitchcraft #tradwitch #devotional #dailydevotional #faithinspired #holy #blessed #triplegoddess #Diana #DianaNemorensis #Hekate #GoddessDiana #GoddessHekate #WitchMother #QueenOfWitches #FairyQueen #Hecate #hekatean #darkgoddess #hekatedevotee Remember to follow me on Instagram to keep updated and also unique Instagram-only competitions! https://instagr.am/p/CMJ1kfcnAwj/

I perform the Blindfolded rite, on the first day of the Nemoralia as I honour Diana, powerful Trivia of the Shades. 💀 She is the one who honours the dead, the fork of the crossroads that leads to the underworld. I bring about my skulls and bones, as once did the Priest of Diana- the Rex Nemorensis. I call to her on behalf of my ancestors, asking for messages to be taken to them upon this night. I have already received beautiful messages from them. I enter into the blindfolded rite, asking for her blessings, so she may not lead me astray from the path. I read my lots and cards, and if found favourable- cover my eyes with a veil, before putting another over my head. I enter this rite as I would a sacred cave. It’s a type of journey- sometimes used by the Gods as an initiatory rite. The Rex Nemorensis would do something similar as he went to meet his Goddess, Diana- Juno Inferna. I descend to the underworld after speaking charms and chants. Sacred words will fall from my lips as I too, fall into the underworld. My journey there may be one of ease or of hardship. I descend as she will, and I lend her my aide as a faithful priestess. As a witch upon Diana’s wild hunt to the underworld so that she may find her lover. Within my coven, the blindfolded rite was sometimes done with a fellow coven member at one’s side to record the sacred offerings of word that one gives whilst in trance. It’s an utterly holy experience. #Nemoralia #Hekatesfeast #feastofhekate #hekate #GoddessDiana #DianaNemorensis #Proserpina #Persephone #romangods #triplegoddess #goth #pagan #paganlife #paganism #paganaltar #devotional #traditionalwitch #witchcraft #skulls #oldreligion #witching #darkwitch #death #skull #witchgram #witchesofinstagram #witchaesthetic #witchmother #magick #witchinghour Remember to follow me on Instagram to keep updated and also unique Instagram-only competitions! https://ift.tt/2YX9YsF

I weave flowers in my hair this evening, as Diana-Proserpina is here upon this night, feet placed in the underworld as she searches for her lover, trapped between life and death. 🌺 I make her sacred garlands, and tend to my garden. I cultivate the sacred flame, the sacred grove and the sacred cycle within all my plants. Many of my plants are sacred and blessed in her name. I ask her for good harvest, pivotal for this year when the weather was stormy and the fruits poor. Every year I take time to honour the Nemoralia, the Feast of Hekate, the sacred procession of torches- the festival of Diana. I take my flowers and leave them as offerings- sometimes weaving them into cords for blessings upon my household. "In the Arrician valley, there is a lake surrounded by shady forests, Held sacred by a religion from the olden times... On a long fence hang many pieces of woven thread, and many tablets are placed there as grateful gifts to the Goddess. Often does a woman whose prayers Diana answered, With a wreath of flowers crowning her head, Walk from Rome carrying a burning torch... There a stream flows down gurgling from its rocky bed..." Today marks the start of the Nemoralia- the Feast of Hekate- the first of three days. 🔥 When I light her sacred fires this evening, I break away from the chaos of the civilised world- and retreat into her Sacred Sanctuary, into the nurturing shade. She comes to us this night as Diana Hekate and Diana Proserpina, underworld Queens. Servius says that these names of the Dark Diana are used in particular ways- Hekate is used once in transition to the underworld- the terrifying underworld goddess, and gentle Proserpina is used when Diana reaches the end to the underworld. I carry her torches as she does as Diana-Vesta, keeping alive the sacred flame at the heart of the universe. I hold her torches as they did thousands of years ago, as the procession of worshippers ends at Diana’s mirror- Lake Nemi. The Lake is her passage to the underworld, where she takes upon her mantle as Hekate as she descends to the underworld to find her lover. In her descent, she is known as ‘Tacita’- the silent one, ‘Dea Muta’- the mute goddess and Juno Inferna- Queen of the Infernal regions, for the Dead do not speak. “It is the season when the most scorching region of the heavens takes over the land and the keen dog-star Sirius, so often struck by Hyperion's sun, burns the gasping fields. Now is the day when Trivia's Arician grove, convenient for fugitive kings, grows smoky, and the lake, having guilty knowledge of Hippolytus, glitters with the reflection of a multitude of torches; Diana herself garlands the deserving hunting dogs and polishes the arrowheads and allows the wild animals to go in safety, and at virtuous hearths all Italy celebrates the Hecatean Ides." (Statius Silv. 3.I.52-60) #Nemoralia #Hekatesfeast #feastofhekate #hekate #GoddessDiana #DianaNemorensis #Proserpina #Persephone #hekateanwitchcraft #triplegoddess #death #pagan #paganlife #paganism #paganaltar #devotional #traditionalwitch #witchcraft #altarspace #oldreligion #witching #darkwitch #hersacredfires #vesta #witchgram #witchesofinstagram #witchaesthetic #witchmother #magick #hecate Remember to follow me on Instagram to keep updated and also unique Instagram-only competitions! https://ift.tt/33vTeYS

Shrine for Diana 💜 Bees are sacred creatures for Diana- to the extent that many of her priestesses were given the name as an honorary title! The great statue of Artemis at Ephesus is also theorised to be linked with bees- a beehive suggested instead of the 'many-breasted' view that historians commonly attest to the statue. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 I use my bee veil in my work for her and Apollo's mantles when doing trance or devotional work with them. Do you use a certain piece of religious clothing when doing devotionals? ° ° ° ° ° ° ° #witchesofinstagram #instawitch #witchessociety #morningdevotional #devotional #devotion #dailydevotionals #morningdevotionals #morningprayer #worship #divine #altarsofinstagram #witchesaltar #altar #shrine #triplegoddess #DianaNemorensis #GoddessDiana #GoddessHekate #GoddessArtemis #WitchMother #QueenOfWitches #GoddessSelene #hellenism #greekgods #hellenismos #hekatean #pagansofinstagram #paganism #paganwitch Remember to follow me on Instagram to keep updated and also unique Instagram-only competitions! http://bit.ly/2KP5yy5

Shining on all, torch-bearer, Goddess Díktynna, protectress of childbirth, You aid in a woman's travail while never having yourself the pain of childbirth, Freeing women from maidenhood, inspiring zeal, huntress, driving cares away, Youthful runner, shooter of arrows, huntress, you roam through the night, Keeper of the chapel, gracious one, liberator, manly one. -Orphic Hymn to Artemis. This is one of my favourite pieces of writing about Artemis, reflecting her epithets and mantles as torch bearer, androgynous goddess, keeper of the chapel, supporter of women through childbirth and blessed huntress. When you start really digging into the greek, there's even more- Goddess of natural progression, of generations... Although the Orphic hymns were meant to be divination based in practice, I do enjoy using them as devotional prayers. 🤭 ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° ° #traditionalwitch #witchesofinstagram #traditionalwitchcraft #OldWays #animism #Luciferian #witch #witchcraft #witchlife #pagan #paganlife #pagansofinstagram #GoddessArtemis #GoddessDiana #GoddessHekate #Hekate #artemis #Hecate #Hellenism #Hellenist #Orphic #DianaLucifera #DianaNemorensis Remember to follow me on Instagram to keep updated and also unique Instagram-only competitions! https://ift.tt/2GIH0nI
