The Evermore Grimoire: Greek Mythology
Artemis (Αρτεμις meaning ‘Diana’) was the goddess of hunting, the wilderness, wild animals, the Moon and chastity in Greek mythology. She was also a goddess of childbirth, and the protectress of girls up until the age of marriage whereas her twin brother Apollo (god of prophecy) was the protector of boys. Together the two gods were also bringers of sudden death and disease with Artemis targeting women and girls, and Apollo men and boys. She was often depicted with her bow and arrow, signifying the wild and untamed aspects of human life. However it is also believed that Artemis was tricked into having a child after she offended Hera (queen of the gods), Athena (goddess of wisdom), and Aphrodite (goddess of love). She told Athena and Hera that neither of them were true virgin goddesses. After all, Athena had children, and Hera was the goddess of marriage. She then told Aphrodite that love was worthless since you would most likely have a broken heart in the end. She reminded the. goddess of love of the story of Orpheus and his wife Eurydice, who was pursued by another man but was accidentally poisoned by snake and died. The three goddesses were not amused and decided to plot their revenge. With the help of Dionysus (god of pleasure), they made every young man look like a golden stag. But really, they were the men of Athens. Soon Artemis was in childbirth, which was very painful. Hera (who was also the goddess of childbirth), made sure that the birth would not come easily for Artemis. Some say her daughter is Haley's Comet. Others say that she was is shadows of night. Most though, believe that the moon is her daughter, always shining down upon us.

could you elaborate your thoughts more on "but should we believe Wynne-Jones' Calcifer or the youkai/ayakashi of animanga are meant to be that kind of demon?" and "It's the same cultural disconnect that led so many Christian parents in the 90s to condemn Pokemon as satanic". Specially about Calcifer? Please?
I wish that when translating asian media, particularly anime, they would keep their non-translated nomenclature, it always translates to "demon" or whatever alternative we have.
Well part of the issue is that our word "demon" comes from the Greek word δαίμων or daimōn, which is the word used in the New Testament, but it is not a word invented by the New Testament writers. Here is an excerpt from the Oxford Reference about it:
Etymologically daimōn means ‘divider’ or ‘allotter’; from Homer onwards it is used mainly in the sense of performer of more or less unexpected, and intrusive, events in human life. In early authors, gods, even Olympians, could be referred to as daimŏnĕs. Rather than referring to personal anthropomorphic aspects, however, daimōn appears to correspond to supernatural power in its unpredictable, anonymous, and often frightful manifestations. So, the adjective daimonios means ‘strange’, ‘incomprehensible’, ‘uncanny’. Hence daimōn soon acquired connotations of Fate. Hesiod introduced a new meaning: the deceased of the golden age were to him ‘wealth‐giving daimones’ functioning as guardians or protectors. This resulted in the meaning ‘personal protecting spirits’, who accompany each human's life and bring either luck or harm. A lucky, fortunate person was eudaimōn (‘with a good daimon’: already in Hesiod), an unlucky one was kakodaimōn (‘with a bad daimon’: from the 5th cent. bc). Centuries later, Christian theologians, concentrating on their negative aspects, saw in daimones the true nature of the pagan gods: they were the embodiment and source of evil and sin.
With this in mind, it makes sense that for translators, the most sophisticated translation for any kind of supernatural weird little creature would be "demon" or "daemon." Especially in a modernist, materialist society that views Judeo-Christian demons as merely one mythology out of many.
Calcifer is a very interesting case, because while he is called a demon in the Japanese Studio Ghibli adaptation, he is also called a demon in the original book by Welsh author Diana Wynne Jones. What many people don't realize is that Mrs. Jones was highly educated, having studied at Oxford under the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. Her husband was also a scholar of Chaucer. Unfortunately, I think because she was writing children's fantasy in the 70s and 80s, people don't think her work warrants much deeper analysis.
As with all her stories, I think she brought a special kind of cleverness to the table when writing Calcifer that is first exemplified by his name.
"Calcifer" is a common noun, referring to sea creatures like anemones which construct their own shells from Calcium Carbonate, much like how Calcifer constructs the moving castle.
"Calcifer" resembles the Latin model of "Lucifer" which means "bringing light" or "light bringer," but rather than "light" she's substituted the Latin root for "limestone" (calcis), which is also made of Calcium Carbonate.
You know what's neat about Calcium Carbonate? It doesn't burn.
Following this thread through to Calcifer's backstory:
Calcifer was a falling star that Howl intercepted, which slightly resembles Satan's origin story as a fallen angel of light. However, Diana Wynne Jones knew perfectly well that Christian demons are not really falling stars, so we can know she did not intend to write Calcifer as a Judeo-Christian demon. More likely, I think she was paying homage to classics such as Paradise Lost.
Calcifer strikes a bargain with Howl for his heart, which I consider an homage to Faust by Goethe, in which the titular character can be said to have devoured beautiful young women.
As a character, Calcifer is very morally grey and often seems in a league above the other characters as far as stakes and decision-making. This is very characteristic of the mythical creatures of Celtic legend, which are still a very present background element of Welsh culture today, much like the trolls and elves of Scandinavian culture. Many of these mythical creatures are referred to as demons, even though they do not align with the Judeo-Christian definition of a demon. Yes, they can be evil or tricky, but they can also be helpful, lucky, or funny. Mostly, they are volatile. Faeries, boggarts, goblins, elves, sea monsters, and more have all been called demons in Welsh folklore.
This could be due to the early interaction between the Welsh and the Romans (compared to, say, the Irish who kept up their Druidism for much longer), and consequently Christians. I know from Scandinavian folklore that the meshing of Pagan culture with Christian newcomers usually becomes very weird very quickly, with the resulting mythology resembling neither party.
Tl;dr Calcifer is the product of a Welsh upbringing and a classical education, and is explicitly not a demon in the Judeo-Christian sense.
As for Pokemon in the U.S., it's mainly a translation issue. Word got around that lots of Pokemon are based on youkai, which gets translated to "demon" in English, even though they are not Judeo-Christian demons and are much closer to the above cited faeries and goblins. Voila, Satanic Panic 2.0.

LMAO the way you write them PROVES you don't read comics. ESPECIALLY Selina. Making her jealous of another woman that she legit wouldn't give two fucks about and a human trafficker? Selina Kyle who canonically fucks up pimps and protects women and children? Selina Kyle who is titled as the protector of the east end? Selina Kyle who has been a hero longer than she ever was a villain? Give me a fucking break. And Talia is a rapist, the most recent TEC writer reinforced that. Plus she's always been a manipulative cunt that Bruce admitted he could never love. But you read the comics right?
And Zatanna really? The woman who mindfucked him? Yeah, he never loved her. And Diana has literally said she could never love Bruce because of who he is. But what are we expecting from a rape apologist like you with your shitty writing. God the next Tom Taylor in the making! Thank fuck your dad's dead so he doesn't have to see this.
Hey. Wow. You're an a plus human being and I hope you have the day you deserve.
I really genuinely hope you get the help you need for whatever is making you feel it's appropriate to say things like this to a person on the internet. Over fan fic. That you don't need to read.
The block button is a thing and I encourage you to use it.

A **VERY** brief introduction to the Twelve Olympians of ancient Greek relgion
Zeus- Also known as Jupiter, he is the king of the gods. He is recognized as the god of the sky, lightning, law, and justice. Zeus is infamous for his many affairs with mortals and goddesses alike!
Hera- AKA Juno. She is the queen of the gods, second only to Zeus himself. She is not only Zeus’ wife, but also his sister (which is really gross, but ancient Greece was a different place with different ideologies then we have now). Hera is the goddess of women, marriage, family, and childbirth.
Poseidon- Known also by the Roman name Neptune, he is the god of seas, hurricanes and earthquakes, horses, water, and storms.
Demeter- With the Roman name Ceres, as a goddess of agriculture, she is one of the most revered goddesses of ancient Greece. She is the goddess of agriculture, the harvest, nature, and the seasons.
Athena- Known by the Romans as Minerva, is a goddess of wisdom, handicraft, and war. She is one of the three virgin goddesses.
Apollo- His Greek and Roman names are both Apollo. Twin brother of Artemis. He is the god of light, prophecy, art, music, poetry, healing, disease, and a protector of boys and men.
Artemis- Twin sister of Apollo and known as Diana to the Romans, she is a protector of women and girls, children, and animals. She is the goddess of the hunt, the wilderness, the moon, childbirth, protection, and plague. She is one of the three virgin goddesses.
Ares- Also called Mars. He is the god of war, violence, and bloodshed. His Latin name gave us the word “martial” (as in martial arts).
Aphrodite- Aphrodite, known by the Roman name Venus, is the goddess of love, fertility, beauty, sex, passion, and desire. She is the namesake of the word “aphrodisiac”
Hephestus- Hephestus, or Vulcan, is the god of fire, volcanos, the forge, and craftsmanship. He is the master craftsman and blacksmith of the gods. His Roman name, Vulcan, is what gave us the word “volcano”.
Hermes- Also known as Mercury, is the messenger of the gods. He is the god of thieves, borders, travel, communication, and games.
Either Hestia or Dionysus- Hestia and Dionysus (Vesta and Bacchus) are used interchangeably as the 12 olympian. Hestia is the goddess of the hearth, fire, homes, domesticity and family. Dionysus is the god of wine, the vine harvest, fertility, madness, ecstasy and resurrection.

Just curious: why do you think Clark will be better for Diana compare to Steve?
Who should be the best man of their wedding?
First of: Steve is a member of the U.S. Army. No offense and thank you for your service, but that gives him a limited and partial view of the World. No matter what goodness he has in his heart, he will always do what's better for his country. He will always do what he's ordered to. Diana sees the planet as a whole: she doesn't think what's good for the planet begins and finishes because of the imaginary lines we human limit ourselves with. Good and bad are not determined by politics, much the contrary: she escaped her home country because she thought her views will be always limited. Tsunamis and hurricanes don't stop to present their papers in customs. You can't order oceanic currents around. An alien invation can't see our frontiers. A planetary crisis is such we can't boss around climatic changes because is good or bad for one country's economy. We save the planet together or there's no salvation possible.
Kal-El sees things the same way. When you see our planet from space you understand. We humans are petty and of limited thinking. You can't see flags from afar. Yeah, you can see the flags we planted on the Moon, but the Moon still doesn't care what happens on our blue marble. She may influence our tides, but not because of patriotic sentiments. Laws of physics don't care of such thougts.
Diana and Kal-El share more than a bed together, they share a common goal. It's important for a couple to see things the same way. Opposites may attract one another, but in the long run they're still opposites. It's not "Men are from Mars and women are from Venus", they are both from Earth. They need to save Earth first, only then the countries on it will be safe.
If our neighborhood is flooded, it's useless to try to save only our house. We will be the only house standing in many blocks around, no friends, no neighbors, only desolation. How long will it take before we start to fight among ourselves for food? How long before we start eating one another? Protectors can't think locally, they need to think on saving the majority, hoping the factions will help each other. It's not like Batso, thinking he must first save his city and everything will be okay. We get out of this crisis together or there's not getting out at all. Just imagine: his superpower is he's rich, so he doesn't care if children are starving as long as his fortune is safe. Will he ever renounce his riches? Will he ever give up his superpowers? Nah, I don't think so. Diana doesn't need men with such limited views. Batso is a prisioner of his superpowers, Diana needs a man as free as herself.
Without the army, Steve is a piano virtuoso without a piano: useless. She needs someone who can make music with two sticks or clapping his hands, just like her.
Seeing things from the same perspective is important for a couple. Differences only get bigger with time. Sexual attraction gets old with age if there isn't anything else behind it. As the saying goes: "show me the most beautiful woman on Earth and I'll show you a man tired of banging her". What started as friendly banter turns into an all out war. A couple need to evolve together but in the same direction. A superhero should not be limited by the limitations of his/her human companion. Humans are a drag.
Kal and Diana have incredibly long life spans, they can't be worried about the expiration date of their happiness or the fragility of their couples.
For these reasons and many more, Kal-El is the ideal couple for Diana of Themyscira.
As for the Best Man and Bride Maids, they'll surely choose the most common and unassuming of terrans, as a way of showing they are no different. Their love is no different than any other's. Their family and friends would understand. They don't need a reception party on the surface of the Moon or a High Priest or Supreme Court Magistrate to officiate, only their loved ones. Choosing simple folks as witnesses and integral part of the celebration is a way to legitimize their union in the eyes of the people, who they serve.

"While there's life, there's hope." - Marcus Tullius Cicero.
Tumblr media
Dear Harry,
I am writing to you with a warning. As I know, you often have or had inappropriate states due to mental or alcoholic intoxication. God forbid you to use drugs. Why did I bring up this personal problem of yours? I'm not judging you. A person of the 21st century is very vulnerable mentally to temptations. This is our life. Nowadays, even those who pray are afraid of disgracing themselves, if they have any intelligence, of course. Yesterday you were on a horse with a shield, today you are a laughingstock. And what will happen tomorrow is chaotic and unpredictable even for me. For example, Vladimir Putin unexpectedly gave us a kitten. You can say that the President of the Russian Federation gave me and my sister the whole world of tenderness and warmth that exudes from this furry baby. He did it secretly. However, I suspect it could have been a love spell, but I am deeply grateful to him for the only worthwhile act of a man on his part. The only thing that darkens my mood is that the Kyrgyz government used to cast a spell on me to take away the greatness of Russia and the Romanov Family for years. And now, this is being done by the respected Russian president at the behest of a migrant from sunny Uzbekistan - Alina Maratovna Kabaeva.
Don't make these mistakes, Harry. It often happens that a strong politician was ruined not by his professional qualities, but by his woman. You were a strong warrior in past lives. But Meghan Markle has always been a satanic temptation for you, Harry!
Harry, you got involved with a first-class, cunning escort-girl from the circle of the damned Epstein himself, according to the Western media. These are dangerous people who, through sex, subsequently dirty blackmail, achieve great material things. I wouldn't be surprised if they blackmailed some sheikhs, which often influences their big politics. For example, Arabs could at least verbally express their disagreement with the aggression towards the children of Palestine. I wish no harm to either Jews or Arabs. I just have a feeling that people like Epstein behave like spiders. And you, Harry, are naive by nature from your past lives. +You grew up in a palace where everyone respected you. You didn’t know what some people outside of your well-fed, successful circle of friends and sincere fan-girls who idolized you were capable of. And I was often humiliated by vile people and that’s why I tried to warn you from the very beginning.
Tumblr media
Harry, if you are originally Elton John or Freddie Mercury, then everything is fine. But it’s another matter if, taking advantage of your intoxication, your wife pushes a homosexual adventure* up your ass for the purpose of blackmail in the near future. First of all, give up drugs and make an appointment with a psychologist. But remember that this psychologist can also work for the protector of your wife. Get a grip, Harry. For the sake of your children. What will they remember about their childhood? The first 6 years are the most important period in the formation of the human psyche. Then - adolescence.
I think, you must accept your mother's passing. This is your Achilles heel. Let Mom go, Harry. Her life was not so bad after all. Your mother lived a vibrant and noble life that one could only dream of. She left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of both whites and blacks. This (!) is important. Think about women in brothels in India, for example. They don’t even dare to dream about the Princess’s life. As for Diana's suspicious death, I will reveal to you the secret of the Higher Powers.
This is the meaning of your mother's suffering: Diana had to see the dark side of the black aristocracy. If she had been happy with Charles III and had not been helped to leave this world, then the hearts of her two sons would not have been pure and, perhaps, they would have been on the side of Satan. Think of it as saving the souls of Lady Di's sons. Apocalyptic times lie ahead of us. But there are few strong people with kind souls on Earth. We, the Light forces, need warriors.
However, I ask you not to immediately write a book 😉 about the fact that I am talking about the Apocalypse. People won't understand. They never understood...
Yours sincerely,
Asel
* I do not hate gays, but I would be dissapointed, if you did it with a man . Sorry, but this is not appropriate for men.

Should Woman Teach?
"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet." 1 Timothy 2: 11,12
This verse is controversial. My first instinct is to reject it. After all their are several woman leaders in the bible. Throughout the New and Old Testament we see examples of woman leaders. Deborah the prophetess, Miriam, Queen of Sheba, Phoebe, and Lydia for example. Church history tells us that woman had a big role in the church. Priscilla for example was a powerful church leader in the book of Acts.
"Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus. 4 They risked their lives for me. Not only I but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them." Romans 16:3
Priscilla and her husband Aquilla welcomed Paul into their home when he arrived in Corinth. (Acts 18:1-3). When Paul left Corinth for Syria he was accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila. (Acts 18:18). Paul left the couple in Ephesus. The Bible tells us the couple taught Apollos.
"He (Apollos) began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately." Acts 18: 26-
In this verse we see Priscilla helped teach a man about God's word. Jesus lifted woman up to be equal to men.
Paul recognizes many times woman in his letters that were leaders in the church.
"Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard in the Lord.
Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard in the Lord.
Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too.
Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas and the other brothers and sisters with them.
Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas and all the Lord’s people who are with them." Romans 16-13-15
So why did Paul write this verse? He does not condemn the female leaders in his letters? So the first thing I did was t research the original Greek word and meaning. The original Greek word is didaskein and is connected to authentein. These two words are a hendiadys. Hendiadys meant one thing by two. In the Greek language is the expression of a single idea by two words connected with an and. For example...nice and warm, when one could be used to modify the other, as in nicely warm.
The word teach 1 Timothy 2:12 authentein is an unusual Greek verb that is rarely found outside of the Bible, and is usually associated with aggression. Some scholars believe that didaskein/authentein in 1 Timothy 2:12 may have been used to describe a kind of authority that is self-initiating or self-asserting. Some scholars state that a better interpretation of this verse would be- "don't teach in a domineering way".
Paul had left Timothy in Ephesus. When Paul is writing this letter, Timothy is still in this city. Ephesus had a strong cult following and devotion to the goddess Artemis (Roman name was Diana). She was the goddess of fertility and childbirth. She was also thought of as the protector of the city of Ephesus.
Ephesus was an ancient city and dates back at least to the Hittites. It was a port city where they worshiped a mother goddess named Cybele. There is a legend that in the 10th century BC, a prince from Athens was looking for a new place to start a new city. An oracle had told him that ‘a fish and boar would show him the way’. One morning while the party was cooking breakfast, a fish jumped out of the pan. This started a fire which drove out a wild boar. With this inspiration, the prince started a new Greek city on the site of the ancient old Hittite city. He renamed it Ephesus, and the worship of Cybele transitioned to the worship of the virgin goddess and huntress Artemis. She was known for her ruthlessness. Legend has it that she helped kill the 10 children of the the goddess Niobe out of jealousy. Amazon women are said to have identified with her. And her priestesses and cult leaders appear to have been virgin girls, sexually inactive wives, and widows. Their celebrations could become erotic. The cult brought great wealth to the citizens of Ephesus because the temple of Artemis became the world's largest bank during that time. This was the primary goddess and protector of Ephesus.
Ephesus was a rich city. Not only did they have rich soil with flourishing farm lands, but they were on the silk road route so there was active trade with Asia and Europe. In Ephesus there were many marble buildings. The streets were even made of marble. The Ephesians built a stadium that sat tens of thousands of people. They built a two-story teaching hospital and a library. But most importantly, they built the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The temple was run entirely by her female officials. Images of Artemis were seen all over the city. Some were quite large and others were small. The many breasted image that used to be worshiped is still made today as a tourist souvenir.
So why does this matter? Paul is writing to a very feminist culture. Some of the believers most likely came from this background and may have been aggressive or even hostile towards the men. Paul is trying to reestablish healthy roles in the church. Therefore, the verse is targeting women who were actively and aggressively teaching or taking leadership positions over men forcefully and causing disruption within the church.
In addition the word is teach- not preach. Nowhere does Paul say that woman cannot preach. Preaching is the act of declaring God's truth with a specific call to obey the word of God. A preacher exhorts, admonishes, encourages, and comforts using the word of God.
2 Timothy 4:2- Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
Teaching is the transfer of knowledge. A teacher explains the meaning of scripture. Teachers are held to a high standard.
"Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness." James 3:1
So can woman teach and preach? I am happy to say the answer is yes. Paul did not mean for this verse to be a universal dismissal of woman in the ministry although there are denominations and churches that interpret it this way.

Diana – Consort of Dianus. The Triad Goddess: Maiden, Mother, Crone. Diana encompasses many other Goddesses, and is the name also used for the Moon Goddess, Earth Goddess and Star Goddess.
Originally she was the Queen of the Open Sky, and was worshipped only outdoors, where her domain stretched overhead. She is the Goddess of outcasts, outlaws, slaves and opressed peoples.
With two other deities, she made up another trinity: Egeria, the water nymph, her servant and assistant midwife, and Virbius, the mysterious woodland god. The three lived together in the famous Wood of Nemi near Aricia.
She is worshipped on August 15, which conveniently now is the feast of the Assumption of Mary. Processions of women would journey to Aricia to offer thanks in Diana’s grove for her help that year and to implore her continuing aid. Diana is the Goddess of all Witches in Italy.
Fauna / Fana – Consort of Fanus. Goddess of the Earth and of Fertility. Fana is also known as Bona Dea, or the “Good Goddess”. She was worshiped only by women and in utter secrecy at rites in early December. Goddess of Abundance and Prosperity, the rites were rather bawdy – usually ending in an orgy. No men were ever allowed to the rites.
Fortuna – Goddess of Fortune, Fate and Luck. She controlled the destiny of every human being. The energy that drove men and women to reproduce themselves. “She Who Brings” – the goddess who permitted the fertilization of humans, animals and plants. Dianus – Consort of Diana. Nature God of Fertility, similar to Fanus, except that He is a Stag God instead of a Goat God. Also known as Kern. Dianus is the most common name for the God.
Fanus – Consort of Fana. Nature God of Fertility – similiar to Pan. Worshiped at the Lupercalia.
Februus – God of Purification and Initiation

Virbius – God of Outcasts and outlaws. Guardian of santuaries.
Astrea – Goddess of Justice and Purity.
Carmen / Carmina – Goddess of casting spells and of Enchantments. Possibly related to Carmenta, who was one of the Camenae. These goddesses dwelt in the frewater springs and rivers. Their name means “foretellers” for they were prophetic forces.
Carmenta is the goddess of Prophecy and Midwifery. She also brought the art of writing to her land. She was worshipped January 11 and 15. She would be consulted to fortell the future of newborns.
Tagni – The most ancient name for the God of Witchcraft
Tanus – Consort of Tana. The Star God. Universal Aspect. The Great God, who is all Gods.
Terminus – God of Boundaries, protector of personal property
Pertunda – Goddess of sexual love and sexual pleasure.
Tana – Consort of Tanus. The Star Goddess (Universal Aspect). Tana’s Day is celebrated on May 1, the day upon which she returned to her Hidden Children after her time in the Underworld.
Interestingly….Tara is the Hindu Star Goddess!
Umbria – Goddess of the Shadows. Umbria is the dark aspect of the Goddess (waning moon), and rules with Dis in the Underworld. Goddess of things which are hidden or secret.
Uni – The most ancient name for the Goddess of Witchcraft. Queen of the sky, she hurled thunderbolts when angered and, when pleased, granted safe passage to infants at birth. Her major sanctuary was at Pyrge, a port city of Caere, where She was endowed with silver and gold by her worshipers. Benefactor of Tuscan citites and of the women who lived there.

Superman: Lost #5
I am the most annoyed ever at the idea at the idea that Lois "never liked" Diana. You could maybe convince me a strict pacifist had ideas about her warlike culture, or someone like Starfire or Hawkgirl (having grown up in much more authoritarian warlike cultures) didn't fully trust her or agree with her outlook. But "something about the bathing suit"? You're telling me you think Lois Lane, staunch feminist and very vocal advocate for equality of all kinds, wants to slutshame one of the most famous women in the world?
No! Especially since Diana is very careful to set a good example for children and especially girls, participate in charity work, engage in politics over just fighting including important motivational speeches, and, crucially, be famous as someone who is a powerful and respected protector. She's everything Lois loves! She's actually just like Lois! (They should kiss.) Lois isn't about to institute some petty rivalry because a hot lady works with her husband? She deeply trusts her husband, and also does not hate women in general.
Similarly, there's a cheating style storyline, where obviously Clark isn't the type to cheat so I doubt he actually did anything, but the woman introduced is clearly meant to be in love with him, and she's very sexy and all that kind of thing. Kind of an issue. I do think the idea of another sole survivor who misses their people and their civilization and has no one else to turn to could be really important for Superman, but honestly, this whole implicit attraction thing just kind of muddies the waters and makes that kind of connection and friendship really shallow. Which means you can't really tell a story with it. She should've been a man, really. He could easily have resembled Bruce, or Pa Kent, or Jor-el, etc. Could've named him Miles (distance from home) or Lucky or Frank or something like that.
The ending, however, was extremely moving, especially working in (without expositiony nonsense) how the lasso actually works and the kinds of things it's good for. I always like Lois wielding the lasso, because she is very much the kind of champion who should be able to do that well. Like I said, she's very much like Diana. The whole emotional arc of Clark trying to learn to be human again, to learn to be with his friends and family again, is so beautifully, painfully rendered. A wonderful metaphor for trauma in general, but also something that really underscores how difficult it is for him to fit in in the first place, how hard he had to work to fit in.
The story overall is wonderful, and the art is gorgeous, and all of it is so carefully laid out, with no extraneous pieces, nothing glossed over, nothing lingered over too long. There's just some sexist assumptions in here that undercut the narrative slightly, and make it hard to tell the story that's being so beautifully told.

Superman & Wonder Woman: Being True
Tumblr media
There seems to be this notion that when Superman and Wonder Woman are together, they see themselves as above humans or they lose their humanity is utter bullshit. There has been zero evidence of this in canon comics. Using goofy alternate shit like Injustice doesn’t make the argument either.
It was also said that they bring out uncomfortableness. Why? Because it’s acknowledged that they are different and not conforming to what’s acceptable as the norm? Well so be it. In the real world, no one lives for someone else’s comfort. You can miss me with that selfish entitled bullshit.
There are claims Superman and Wonder Woman needing to be anchored to human love interests to be relatable or lower themselves to be “normal”. No, no, hell, no. Lois Lane and Steve Trevor are not why Clark and Diana are the heroes they are. Clark and Diana were heroes, had their purpose way before them. Lois and Steve aren’t and should never be their motivation to do what’s right and what they were meant to do and be. Clark and Diana are far more “human” than any normal human any damn way. They selflessly make shit ton of sacrifices without any hesitation. What they do as individuals or a couple is on extraordinary levels and there’s nothing wrong with that. Flying across the skies like free birds is such a beautiful thing. Trying to cage these birds, ground and limit them is unnecessary and a shame.
As best friends with unresolved, underlying feelings or the Power Couple, it has always been established, their duty as heroes come first. They have been each other’s moral compasses, written to have complexed conversations about their purposes, the view of the world, open to each other about their deepest feelings etc.
Tumblr media
To reiterate this again, Kal-El is from a different planet entirely. He is an alien. He may look human in appearance but he is not. He was raised to pretend to be normal but he is not normal. Yes, the Kents raised him with good morals and values but that sure as hell does not mean, he had to grow up to reject his heritage, and keep pretending to fit in and the mental gymnastics. Pre-Crisis and New52 Superman understood this assignment. Post crisis Superman, not so much. Superman was once the Champion of the Oppressed. He was to aspire and lead to better. To make a difference in a world of corruption. What happened to that? Now he is just stagnant, stuck in a comfort zone of pretending, romanticizing lies and being unethical at times. Protector of an outdated view and status quo. As well the obnoxious problematic depiction from the beginning of Rebirth of perfect privileged spoon-fed all American family that basically screwed up DC continuity even more so to force it as the “truth” or “real”. Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent should be one in the same. Not choosing one over the other as one is fake/disguise. Ironically, in the animated adaption of “Throne of Atlantis”, Clark himself said to not be “one of them, but to blend in.” This was before the asspulled contrived asinine 180 of his character for Death of Superman adaption.
Tumblr media
Diana of Themyscira is a Princess from a secluded island that was separated from man’s world for its chaotic bullshit. Yet, she wanted to explore the world, learn and teach, bring peace and people together. She celebrates life and love, stands for truth with one self and others. Motivate and fight for equality and the protection of women and children. Majority of Diana’s iterations have been consistent with this attitude. Except rebirth, who had to be thrown into a mental institution and losing herself because spiteful writer’s bias. You really expect me to believe homegirl was living a lie and in some kind of illusion within her mind or whatever for 10 years? LOL no. Although, she is a DemiGoddess, Diana is still very much an earth woman. And I mean that literally if we go with the clay origin.
What I loved about new52 Superman was his motivation to be Superman was the PEOPLE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diana is the Goddess of Truth after all. To hide who you are, what you love and enjoy is a disservice to oneself.
Tumblr media
The two together bring something unique and challenging. They have their similarities and differences that compliment.
Tumblr media
But they don’t change who they are for one or the other. They learn from each other, accept even more of each other, and grow together as a couple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this day and age, we celebrate what makes us stand out and be our unique selves. Superman and Wonder Woman are suppose to THE epitome of this!

More Personal Takes on Egyptian Gods.
Tumblr media
Bastet
The Egyptian Goddess of Protection, The Home, Domesticity, Women's Secrets, Cats, Fertility, and Childbirth. One of the Children of Ra who is associated with the Two Egyptian Goddesses (Sekhmet and Hathor). She started off as a Lioness Goddess like Sekhmet as Bastet and Sekhmet were characterized as the Same Deity. Sekhmet represented The Most Powerful Warrior and Protector Aspect while Bastet represented Gentler Aspect. As the same Goddess they would be, Bastet would be the Wife to Ptah and even the Mother of Maahes. Cats were honored animals in Egypt and considered to be sacred by the Egyptians for Felines played an important role in Egypt since Cats protected Humans and their food from Deadly Diseases from the Rodents including Rats themselves and even Snakes. But to those who would hurt a Cat would be killed by punishment since Cats were mainly considered to be the Creature of Protection, therefore, Family Members of all Humans. Since Bastet was often linked to Sekhmet, Ra emerged Sekhmet’s Body which came into Two Goddesses (or one depending on which version), Bastet and Hathor. In Ra’s Sun Boat Rides throughout the Sky, Bastet would follow Ra during his Journey Days. Whenever it was Night, she would take the form of a Full Cat as she would protect the World from the Serpent of Chaos (Apophis).
SBSP Universe
Bastet is The Egyptian Goddess of Protection, The Home, Domesticity, Women's Secrets, Cats, Fertility, and Childbirth. She is the Sister of Sekhmet. She is Loyal, Smart, Level-Headed, Headstrong, and Caring. She is one of Egypt’s greatest protectors for she allows her own Clan of Cats to protect Egypt and even some of the Egyptians were allowed to keep a Cat as their own Pet. Many Cats worshiped Bastet as their True Cat Goddess and Queen for they promise to her to always be a Good Honor towards Humanity. When Ra felt disrespected for how the Mortals now treated him, he decided to take some of Bastet’s fur while she didn’t notice and plugged out his own eye to create Sekhmet. Although Bastet was deeply aware of what Ra was doing, needless to say, the Cats were in deep shock to find out on who Sekhmet was of what they saw to the Humans as all of the Felines were afraid of the Lion Goddess. Bastet didn’t know on who Sekhmet was nor what was going on down in the Mortal Realm but when Ra told her the truth, he apologized to Bastet and she forgive him as Bastet made a blood oath with Sekhmet for Ra made the Two Feline Goddesses blood sisters. Since Bastet was often calm, she was the Patience to her Sister’s wrath between Small and Big Cats. Ra does allow Other Gods to visit on his Boat Trips as whenever Bastet would be on Ra’s relaxing days, she would also help him to battle the Chaotic Serpent, Apophis. She does happen to like Neptune and Poseidon as she does get along with Other Pantheon Goddesses including Diana and Artemis. But she wouldn't even like the fact for how Poseidon uses Snails for Skin Care. She would also find Gary very adorable and maybe have a liking for SpongeBob for how much he’s got a pure heart for Animals.

Osiris
The Egyptian God of the Dead, Underworld, and Rebirth. The Son of Geb and Nut, the Brother to Isis (who is his Wife), Set, and Nepthys. He is also the Father to Horus and Anubis. His name means “He who is Powerful or Mighty” and his Green Skin represents rebirth as he was often associated with Mummy wrap. He was widely worshiped until the Rise of the Christianity Empire. When Osiris was in charge of being a King of Egypt, he took one of his sisters (Isis) as his Wife for every God and Mortal respected Him. However, he was seduced by his Other Sister, Nepthys (who was Isis in disguise) and bore him Anubis which pissed off Set since he was cheated on by his own Wife. Set was very Jealous of his Brother for he wanted to rule over Egypt and to act his revenge, Set invited the rest of the Gods to a Party and challenged the Gods to fit inside of a tomb that would fit perfectly for them. Every God tried, but they failed, soon Osiris was the last one for he went to the Tomb to try it out and it was an absolute perfect fit. This Tomb was actually a trap for Osiris as Set tricked him as he trapped his Brother in a coffin and threw him into the Ocean where Set got to rule over as King. Osiris had traveled through days being drifted off to the sea and where he landed, a Tree grew inside through his Coffin. When a King noticed the Tree, he ordered his own servants to cut down each part of the Tree and bring it inside of his own Kingdom. Isis looked everywhere for Osiris for her Husband was missing as she sent herself out on a search to look for him. When she opened the coffin, she saw her Husband dead as she tried to find a way to bring him back to life but Set chomped off each and every part of the Body and scattered it all over the Egyptian Lands. Isis had to find each of the Body Parts of her Husband so that she could put them back together again. Unfortunately, Osiris was not fully complete as his penis was missing, thus, he can not go back ruling over Egypt and bore he died, Isis was pregnant with their Son (Horus) who would grow up to avenge his Father’s Death as Osiris was now in charge of the Dead as he ruled over Duat.
SBSP Universe
Lord Osiris is The Egyptian God of the Dead, Underworld, and Rebirth and the Former King of Egypt. He is the Son of Geb and Nut, the Brother of Set, the Husband of Isis, and even the Father of Horus. He is Regal, Strong, Level-Headed, Hardened, Wise, and Loyal. He is the Older Brother of Set as he’s much more Mature than Set who’s just crazy and downright chaotic compared to him. Osiris really loved Isis since they knew each other as Childhood Friends when Geb and Nut wanted their own Sons to have Future Lovers just so that they could rule over Egypt in Ra’s place. Despite Set’s hatred and jealousy over him, Osiris really loved his Brother as he didn’t mind all the crazy things that Set did as he still loved his entire family, especially his own Son (Horus) who really loved his Father as Horus would often spend time with his Father as Osiris would always teach his Son on how to be King one day. When Sekhmet was created, Osiris told Ra that Sekhmet needs to be stopped before she kills all over the Human Population. Coming up with a Perfect Plan, Ra and the Other Gods created a mixture of both Wine and Blood for Sekhmet to drink as she passed out and somehow changed when she woke up and became Bastet’s Sister. On that one time when Ra was poisoned by a Cobra, Osiris tried to figure out on how to heal Ra until when Isis figured out on how to heal him as Ra gifted Her his true name and more power to Her. Osiris and the rest of the Gods felt intrigued but Set was extremely jealous considering that he wanted to know Ra’s name so he could have his Power. As Ra retired, He made Osiris the New King of Egypt when Osiris was now the Head of the Egyptian Pantheon as he taught Humans on how to eat Vegetables as everyone loved him but this made Set really jealous as he now hated his Brother since he dreamed of ruling Egypt one day but that was now in the hands of his Eldest Brother. One Night, Set invited all of the Gods to a Party and gifted his Brother a Tomb of his Own. When Osiris got in, he was stunned and impressed by his Brother’s gift but Set trapped Osiris in his own gift that he received and threw him off the Nile where Osiris was drifted throughout the Waters. During his days of being trapped in the coffin, he couldn’t breathe as his coffin was inside of a Tree and died during his last breath. When Isis finally reached to her husband after searching for Him, she found Osiris dead as she tried to find a way to bring him back through a book of spells but Set chomped each of the Body Parts off of Osiris and scattered it all over through the lands. Isis and Nepthys had to find each of Osiris’ body parts and sew it back together as Osiris was complete. When he came back to life, he reunited with his Wife and Child but Osiris couldn’t breathe any longer as he spent his last moments with Isis and Horus until he died but he got a new job to rule over Duat as he became the Egyptian God of the Underworld with Set now the King of Egypt. Horus was heartbroken when his Father passed away so he had to grow up through many lessons to stop his Evil Uncle and avenge his Father’s Death. After Horus won, Osiris was proud of his Son now that he was the New Ruler of Egypt but Set was banished as he now had to suffer all the punishments that he deserved for all these years. He happens to be a Friend of both Hades (Poseidon’s Brother) and Pluto (Neptune’s Brother) as he’s part of the Five Lords and Two Ladies of the Underworld since he’s also a Death Deity. He does like Neptune and Poseidon along with their own Families. He also represents Sloth. Osiris could also relate to Mr. Krabs (despite that they have nothing in common), he only could relate the fact to how Plankton is jealous over Krabs which is similar to how Set is jealous over Osiris and how they've been tricked by them (Well, Osiris was tricked once but Krabs was tricked a lot).

Ra
The Egyptian God of the Sun, Heaven, Kingship, Power, and Light. The Son of Nun, Brother to Atum and Amun He is mainly depicted as a Falcon and shares similar characteristics with Horus as the Two Deities were merged as “Ra-Horakhty” meaning “Ra, who is Horus of the Two Horizons”. He was mainly identified with Amun, meaning that they were the same person as “Amun-Ra” (despite some sources that say that they were separate or the fact that they were actually brothers). Bulls were often sacrificed by his Worshippers who worship the Sun God in Heliopolis. He also goes on through his own Boat Rides through the Sky. In the Beginning of Egyptian Myths, Ra was the first One from Nun to exist on earth where Amun and Atum created everything that was Human, Ra made his own children (Shu and Tefnut). His own Kids fell down into the Water as Ra had to rescue them where the Family reunited. He was so relieved that his Children were safe, he cried as the Humans were born from Ra’s tears. His children were married as they bore each other their own children, the Earth (Geb) and the Sky (Nut) who were Ra’s grandchildren. But little did the Sun God would know that his Grandchildren would bore each other his Great GrandKids (Osiris, Set, Nepthys, and Isis). Ra became the Chief of the Egyptian Gods as well as the Ruler of Egypt. As Pharaoh of Egypt, he taught everything of what the Humans would know in knowledge. As the years go by, Ra began to grow Old as everyone started to lose respect for Him so Ra created the Warrior Goddess (Sekhmet) from his Eye as the Lioness Goddess was sent to kill all of the Men who disrespected Ra. But Sekhmet was too out of control, blinded by bloodlust in her eyes, Ra knew that this was gone way too far so he created a mixture between booze and blood for Sekhmet to drink. When Sekhmet was passed out, Ra emerged her Body and created Bastet and Hathor. When Ra was sleeping on the Boat, a Cobra that was made from Ra’s drool that Isis created and sent out bit him which instantly hurted Ra in pain as the Gods try to heal his wound. Isis wanted to know Ra’s secret name so she heals him and in return, Ra reveals his true name to Isis and gives her the More Power that She ever could. As Ra retired leaving Osiris in charge, he went on a Boat Journey from the Sky to Duat as he often battles his Arch-Nemesis, the Serpent of Chaos (Apophis).
SBSP Universe
Ra is The Egyptian God of the Sun, Heaven, Kingship, Power, and Light. One of the Three Suns of Nun as well as the Brother of Amun and Atum. He was the First Ruler of Egypt but decided to retire, leading from Osiris to Horus to take over Egypt. He is very well Laid-Back, Arrogant, and Boastful as he is filled of Himself. He loves to be the Pharaoh of Egypt as he does tend to his own royal duties in both a lazy and responsible way as he’s a very quirky king compared to Zeus and Poseidon themselves, he thinks it’s relaxing to be King as he often loves taking Boat Rides throughout the Sun of his own Boat. However, he can be a bit intense especially when it’s people who disrespected him or to those who assume him the wrong way. When Nun created the Earth, Ra and his Brothers were the first born from a Primordial Deity like the Others. He is an Uncle to Amun’s own Son named “Shu” as Shu was Ra’s most favorite nephew from one of his Brothers. When Shu ran away with Tefnut and fled themselves into the Water, the Brothers had to go search for them, eventually Ra did find Shu and Tefnut as he grabbed them out of the Water. When the Brothers were relieved, Shu and Tefnut were married as Ra cried happily joy in tears as Humans started to appear right from Ra’s eyes and that’s where Humanity was born in Egypt. As Shu and Tefnut were blessed with a Daughter named “Nut”, their Daughter fell in love with the Earth God named “Geb”. Although Ra wasn’t sure about this considering he was often more of an Protective Uncle to both his Nephew and his Grand-Niece but shortly after when Geb and Ra got along, he allowed Geb to marry his Grand-Nephew since Nut loved him for Ra would do anything to keep his Family happy. After when Osiris and Set were born, Ra thought that the Egyptian Gods needed a Pharaoh so Ra became the Pharaoh of Egypt as he taught Humans knowledge with the help of Thoth (who ended up becoming his Advisor) and that was where Egypt was born. Years passed and it was hard to say that Mortals were losing respect in Ra which hurted him so Ra knew that the Humans needed to be taught a Lesson. He asked out his own Father on how to gain respect again as Nun suggested Ra to grab some fur or feathers of any of the Gods and mixed it with his own Eye in the Cauldron so that he can create his own Warrior that will teach the Mortals respect for Him. Agreeing upon this advice, Ra knew the right perfect match as he cut some of Bastet’s fur while she was sleeping and plugged out his eye as he mixed them together in the cauldron, thus, creating Sekhmet as that’s how she was born. He sent out Sekhmet to attack the Mortals who disrespected him to be taught as a lesson as Sekhmet ended up murdering the mortals who disrespected Ra which shocks the Gods after they see Sekhmet in her own Bloodlust eyes of her hunting. Realizing that it was a huge mistake, Ra knew that something had to be fixed as the Gods created booze mixed with blood for Sekhmet and when she drank it all, she passed out. Bastet asked Ra on what happened as Ra explained the whole situation and that he wanted to gain respect again because for how being disrespected meant very unhappy and hurtful to him as he was sorry for using some of Bastet’s fur to create his own Creation. Bastet forgives him and Ra realizes that he can fix it through by changing Sekhmet’s personality as he made Sekhmet a Sister to Bastet for whenever that the Gentle Cat would be the Patience to the Lioness’ Wrath as he grows in a New Eye. When Set wanted to know Ra’s true name so he could be more powerful, he sent out a Cobra that was mixed with Ra’s drool as Ra was bitten by the Cobra as he felt sick. The Gods tried everything to heal him but nothing worked, when Isis healed his wound, Ra gave her his true secret name and even gave her more power from his actual name as Isis went on to become Egypt’s Most Powerful Goddess the world has ever known. Wanting to start on a New Different Life, Ra decided to retire and give Egypt a New Pharaoh since he wanted to fulfill Geb and Nut’s wish of one of their own Sons being King one day so Ra passed it on to Osiris who became the New Ruler of the Egyptian Pantheon as Ra went on to go throughout his Traveling Adventures through the Sky on his Boat while battling his Greatest Arch-Enemy, the Serpent of Chaos, Apophis. Ra also happens to be a Good Friend towards Jupiter and Zeus (Neptune and Poseidon’s own Sky Brothers). He’s also part of the Seven Emperors of the Sky (those who are Sky/Heaven/Thunder deity would be a Sky Emperor), even though he retired as Pharaoh of Egypt, he still rules over the Heavens while Horus rules down in Egypt.
Tumblr media
Horus
The Egyptian God of The Sky and Kingship, the Son of Osiris and Isis. In one of the earliest records of Horus, is the form of the tutelary deity of Nekhen in Upper Egypt who was the first known national god, relating to the ruling Pharaoh who in time came to be regarded as a manifestation of Horus who represent Life and Osiris who represented Death. His Wife was sometimes said to be either Hathor or Serket. In The Contendings of Horus and Set, after the events of the Osiris Myth, Isis hid herself behind because Set was the most power-hungry God in Egypt as she gave birth to Horus. Throughout Horus’ life, he was often sick as the Other Goddesses helped to nurse the Young One as he was taught with intelligence by Thoth as Horus grew up to take revenge on his Uncle who killed his Father. Horus went to Egypt avenge his Father’s death for the Throne but The Court lead by Ra suggested a challenge series of trials would work for them to see for whoever wins the Trials will have the Throne. Horus and Set agreed as they challenged themselves through a series of Trials for the Throne. Their Trials went from Two Hippos fighting underwater to Fighting Each Other in the Desert (which caused Horus to lose his own Eye), to having a Feast Challenge as Set abused his Nephew but Horus played a trick on Set when Horus sprouted his own semen onto Set’s salad that his Uncle ate (leaving him pregnant). After battling those Trials through 80 Years, Horus was finally given the option to take over the Throne and become the New Pharaoh of Egypt. But Set on the Other Hand retired as he went on Ra’s boat for he traveled through the Sky with Ra helping him out battle the Serpent Apophis.
SBSP Universe
Horus is The Egyptian God of The Sky and Kingship, The Son of Osiris and Isis, and even the Husband of Hathor. He is also the Father to Duamutef, Qebehsenuef, Imsety, and Hapy. He is the Current Ruler of Egypt and its Pantheon. Horus is very Regal, Strong, Energetic, and Naive. When he was young, he was excited to rule over the Egyptian Lands as Prince, he had a very close strong bond with his Father. As a child he was always a Troublemaker despite being the Heir of Osiris and Isis, he was destined to become future Pharaoh. He didn't like Hathor when they were kids because of her girlish ways. He also does have a positive relationship with his Cousin (Anubis) despite the Long Contendings that he had with Anubis’ Father who was Horus’ Uncle (Set). But as things changed when Osiris went missing, he really missed his Father when his Mother (Isis) had to go out and look for Husband, the Gods had to watch over Horus while she was away. When Isis brought Osiris back, the Gods were shocked to find him dead, even the Young Horus was traumatized to see his Father dead. When Isis made Osiris be brought back to life, there were only a few last moments with his Family as Osiris retired and now ruled over Duat with Set continuing to rule over Egypt. Fortunately, Set was a Bad Ruler over Egypt as Isis had to hide her Son away from Him as Horus had to grow up living with his own Mother in the Shelter of the Village for the rest of their lives. As Horus grew up to be smart and strong, he avenged his Father’s Death as he went back to Egypt to fight his Evil Uncle but Thoth decides that only in a series of Twelve Trials would work for them to see who wins the Throne as they agreed. After battling through many trials, Horus won for the Throne but as envious as Set was, he took upon himself and transformed into a Giant Beast to attack his nephew but Hathor managed to save him as she defeated Set with a spear through his Butt as Set was instantly transformed back into his Normal self as Hathor saved Horus from his Uncle. Horus insanity banished Set in Duat for Punishment as Set was never heard from again. When Horus finally became the New King, he took Hathor for a Wife as Queen of Egypt as they took good care of the Lands and had themselves a little of their own Heirs for Horus was now the current ruler of Egypt, making Isis and Osiris proud of their Son. He does happen to like Neptune but is very neutral on Poseidon. He doesn’t like Triton because he thinks he’s way too rebellious to be the King of his Father’s Seas. Horus would think that SpongeBob is a very good sea sponge with a pure, kind heart and gives him Egypt’s Golden Spatula and he is also gifted Mr. Krabs gold and jewelry.
Tumblr media
Set
The Egyptian God of War, Chaos, and Storms, Son of Geb and Nut, the Brother of Nepthys (his Wife), Osiris, and Isis. Some sources say that He was the Father of Anubis, although Set was mainly considered to be a Sterile since He and Nepthys didn’t really like each other according to Mythos. He was the most powerful God but was also a Patron God of the Pharaohs including Ramses the Great. In Egyptian Astronomy, Set was associated with the Planet Mercury. In the Osiris Myth, Set was extremely jealous of his Brother (Osiris) because he wanted to rule over Egypt as Pharaoh and even his Wife (Nepthys) cheated on Him with Osiris which lead to Anubis, so to hatch out a plan, he invited the Gods to his own Party and invited a Tomb to see on which of the Gods could fit inside the Tomb. When Osiris fit inside the Tomb, Set trapped him and threw him to the Nile where he took over as King of Egypt. When Isis found Osiris dead, Set chomped off each of the body parts of Osiris’ body and threw each and one of them to any of the Lands for Isis had to find each of her Husband’s Parts. However, Set wouldn’t considered to be Egypt’s New King yet for He challenged his Nephew (Horus) in a Series of Trials which took about 80 years as they fought as Hippos, Battled outside through the Desert, and even having Himself be pregnant by his Nephew of Horus’ Seaman right into Set’s Salad. After challenging each other, the Court decided that it was now Horus who got to be in charge of the Throne as Set would go on to become part of Ra’s journey through the Boat while battling the Serpent Apophis.
SBSP Universe
Set is The Egyptian God of War, Chaos, and Storms, the Youngest Son of Geb and Nut, the Brother of Osiris, Husband of Nephthys, and even the Father of Anubis. Set is very Mischievous, Arrogant, Overconfident, Charismatic, and Egotistical. He loves to form Chaos and Storms upon Egypt as well as convincing others to start a War upon Egypt since he enjoys a Cup of Disaster. The Gods saw Set as the Entire Bad Seed amongst their Pantheon, even Osiris (who still loved his Brother) was often tired of Set’s evil deeds that would foam around across the Lands since he was born as a Troublemaker and a Brat when he was a Kid. Although He and Nepthys didn’t like each other since they were different from each other when they were kids unlike Osiris and Isis, but as Adults as they grew, they were now used to each other. Neither of them would ever cheat nor Set was a sterile as Set really loved to tease and flirt with Nepthys which annoys her but deep down secretly, she does like him for the funniest moments that he has ever been put up with. Soon, Anubis came into their lives. Set does try to be a Good Father towards Anubis as he tries to encourage his Son to be just like him but Anubis prefers to work at Mummification in Duat since he had no interest in becoming a Chaotic Deity like his Father which often face palmed Set since he wanted a Child more chaotic than himself. Set wanted to know Ra’s secret name, he used his drool and created a Cobra so that he would bite Ra in order for him to know his true name which would’ve given him more power but unfortunately, Ra was healed by Isis and gave her his Secret Name and Isis more power which made Set even envier at Isis as He tried to heal Ra but failed. When Osiris got in charge as Pharaoh of Egypt, Set became really jealous because he wanted to rule over the Lands for Ra but Ra saw Set as the most treacherous tyrant deity that would bring Chaos down to Egypt. So Set figured out a plan as he invited the Gods to a Party where he instantly trapped Osiris into the Coffin and threw him into the Nile as Set got to rule over Egypt. As soon as He found out that Isis was looking for his Brother, Set chomped each of the Body Parts from Osiris and scattered it all over Egypt where Isis had to look for each of them with the help of Nephthys. During his King Days of Egypt, all the people were forced to worship Set as Set treated nothing more but the Gods and Humans as Slaves, he was not really a good ruler at all. Horus had to avenge his Father’s Death as Thoth suggested a challenge series for them to win over the Throne. Throughout the Twelve Trials, Set tried his Best to Win but he failed as his Nephew (Horus) won for the Throne which made Set even more envious with Rage and Jealousy as he transformed himself into a Gigantic Beast and attacked Horus throughout the Kingdom. Hathor shot Set with an arrow through his Butt as Set turned back into his normal self. Horus banished his Uncle in Duat where Set was forced to serve punishment for the rest of his life in the Underworld while Horus had to take over for his Father. However, during his Punishment Days, Set ended up fighting the Serpent Apophis to help Ra throughout his Boat Journeys. He’s also not a fan of Neptune and Poseidon as he dislikes other Pantheon Gods except for Loki, Eris, and Discordia since he mainly prefers having chaotic friends who are evil just like him. He also would get along with Plankton but he would most certainly dislike Mr. Krabs and even find SpongeBob and Patrick really annoying.

Nephthys
The Egyptian Goddess of The Mourning, The Night, and The Shadows. The Daughter of Geb and Nut, Sister of Set (Her Husband), Osiris, and Isis. The Mother of Anubis. She represents Lower Egypt as she was a Member of the Great Ennead in Heliopolis. She was often paired with her Sister, Isis in funerary rites because of their role as protectors of the Mummy. She was also known as the “Lady of the House” or “Lady of the Temple”. According to Mythology, Nephthys and Set didn’t like each other and because on how Set was a sterile like the Desert, Nephthys cheated on her Husband with Osiris when she was disguised as their Sister (Isis) and that’s how Anubis was born. Set felt betrayed and angry by this affair so he trapped their Brother in a coffin and became the New Ruler of Egypt. Nephthys even helped out their Sister to find their Brother during the search of Osiris.
SBSP Universe
Nephthys is The Egyptian Goddess of The Mourning, The Night, and The Shadows, the Sister of Isis, the Wife of Set, and even the Mother of Anubis. Nephthys is Clever, Benevolent, Remorseful, Loyal, and Devoted. As the Goddess of the Mourning, she is able to make others feel bad for their loss or even those who cry emotionally, she also represents the Night to her title as she can make Stars glow and make the Night beautiful. She and Set didn’t like each other when they were kids but they got used to each other when they were now currently Adults. Despite Set’s mischievous mishaps that he gets into, she mainly doesn’t like the way he brings chaos upon Egypt but she does at least have feelings for him as she somehow secretly likes Set on the inside despite their own personal differences and boundaries. When She married Set, she bore him their own Son (Anubis). Anubis was often very close with his Mother as he was not very much like his Father since Anubis had the same affections as his Mother. She does have a Good Relationship with her own Sister, Isis as the Two Sisters adored each other when they were young. When Nephthys found out that her Husband was now King, she didn’t care at first but she didn’t feel like being Queen despite that she still loved him but when Isis revealed that Osiris was dead, she had to help her Sister out to revive Osiris back to life. She also felt very disappointed in Set for how badly he treated Egypt and even after the Trials, she does tend to visit her Husband in Duat as she often misses him but is still disappointed in him after what Set did to Egypt. She doesn’t mind Neptune and Poseidon, but she does get along with one of the members of their own Families (Vesta and Hestia). She also could get along with Karen because of how they have similar relationships with their own Husbands. She would also like Squidward because of their Stern Attitude.
Tumblr media
Anubis
The Egyptian God of Death and Mummification, the Son of Osiris and Nephthys (though some sources say that he was also Set’s Son). His consort was Anput and his Daughter was Kebechet. He is known as the Protector of Graves and Guide to the Underworld that would help Dead People guide Souls over Duat, but there would mainly be a Court there lead by Him. He would usually have the Heart of the Dead in the Scales of Osiris and the Feather on the Truth on the Other Side. If the Heart was heavier than the Feather, their Hearts would be eaten by Ammit (Eater of Hearts) if they were Bad, but if the Feather was lighter than the Heart, they would be able to join the Afterlife if they were Good. His Black Color was meant to represent Regeneration, Life, The Soil of The Nile River, and even the Discoloration of the Corpse after Embalming. Even in Rituals, Priests would often wear Jackal Heads during the Mummification Process. He is one of the Most Popular Egyptian Figures in Pop Culture and is often associated with the Greek God (Hermes) due to both being Guides of the Dead. There’s even a Statue of them together called “Hermanubis” in the Roman Rule. Anubis was born to the Son of Nepthys and Osiris when Nepthys cheated on Set causing her Husband to take revenge on the Affair and his Brother. Anubis even helped out Isis by mummifying him.
SBSP Universe
Anubis is The Egyptian God of Death and Mummification, the Son of Set and Nepthys, the Husband of Anput, and even the Father of Kebechet. He is very Stoic, Stern, Strict, and Mature. He often works his Job in Duat for his Uncle as he does work on Mummification and even leads the Dead throughout Duat. He would often judge by the Hearts of Court for his own Pet, Ammit. If the Heart was heavier than the Feather, that would mean that they sinned and that the heart would be eaten by Ammit. But if the Feather was lighter than the Heart, that would mean that they would be Good and would be free to join the Afterlife led by Osiris in Duat. He was fascinated by Mummification when he was very young as he dreamed about having a Job over the Dead. He’s often very close with his Mother (Nephthys) but his Father (Set) tries to be a Good Father to Anubis since Set wanted his Son to be just like Him but Anubis often refused since he was more often into Mummifying and Crafting rather than being the Next Chaotic Deity of Egypt. He does have a positive relationship with his Cousin, Horus as they used to do crazy things together when they were Kids. Anubis has a Good Relationship with his Wife, Anput since Anput often helps her Husband throughout Mummification over Duat as they really like each other and do get along very often. His Daughter, Kebechet, often tries her Best working at Mummification or being the Guide to the Dead since she wants to be just like her Father as Anubis appreciates his Daughter’s best try for Him (since it’s very sweet of his own Daughter of wanting to be in her own Father’s Place). He happens to like Pluto and Hades and is a Good Friend towards Thanatos but He and Hermes have a similar relationship to Squidward and SpongeBob, he doesn’t like Hermes’ Roman Counterpart (Mercury). He likes Neptune but doesn’t like Poseidon. Anubis would also get along with Squidward and even gifts him a Mummified Snail.

Nemoralia: August 13-15
Tumblr media
Nemoralia (Also known as Festival of Torches) was a festival celebrated by the Ancient Romans in honor of Goddess Diana. She is Goddess of the hunt, wild animals, wild places, fertility, and the Moon, protector of women, children and slaves. Nemoralia is a three day festival celebrated from August 13th to 15th. It was celebrated at Sanctuary of Diana at Lake Nemi, known as “Diana’s Mirror” in Italy but soon became more widespread across the land.
Nemoralia was a time of rest, especially for women, salves and hunting dogs. Freed or escaped slaves took refuge from the scorching hot sun of August at Diana’s woodland sanctuaries, so they can slip into a world of the sacred, cool, shady, and nurturing. Hunting was forbidden during this festival and dogs were adorned with flowers to celebrate all life. Women would wash their hair, wear garlands of flowers and take part in a torch or candle lit procession around the shores of Lake Nemi. Offerings were made at her temple to show gratitude for the bounty of the year. This would include fruit, cakes, small sculptures of animals, women or children, ribbons written with prayers tied to trees and bread or clay in the shape of body parts that needed healing. This festival is associated with the harvest and celebration of life.
How to celebrate Nemoralia:
At your altar, surround a bowl of water with candles of any kind, to represent the candle lit procession at Lake Nemi. You are free to say prayers and give offerings here! Give up meat for the festival. Since hunting was not allowed, it would be a nice idea to avoid eating or buying meat/ animal products during the festival in honor of Diana since many of us do not hunt. Wash your hair with water infused with herbs and oils! You can use any herb at all such as rosemary, lavender, rose, thyme, mint etc and boil them in water. Once cooled, strain and pour over your head while in the shower. Give your pets some extra love, especially your dogs! Adorn them with garlands of flowers (so long as the flowers aren’t toxic to them! Research!), take them out on a long walk or give them their favourite treats. You can also pray to Diana to bless and protect your pets. Wear a flower crown! Go on a nature walk! Feed the birds in your garden! Do some baking and offer a portion to Diana! Ask Diana to bless and protect your children if you have any.
Happy Nemoralia!
