Ahmed x Diana (movie version)
[Ship game]

Easy on the eyes and fun to watch, but...
#NotMyAhmedDiana
I think the film's take on their relationship differered from the original a little too much. For example, they toned down Ahmed's brutality considerably and omitted his worst actions — going kinda straight to the hidden "good" side of his character rather than showing us his less-than-charming moments from the book, such as that time he whipped a servant into unconsciousness, and was a dick to his horses.
Now, movie!Diana: she's more subdued than her book counterpart. I get it. The movie couldn't get into her head to the extent that the book did, but they could have included some of the small ways in which she tried to defy Ahmed.
Anyway, I enjoyed the unintentional humor. Very expressive, the both of them. XD

Hewooo! I'm Anon ⭐! I really, really love reading all of the headcanons you wrote!(*^ω^*) If you don't mind, can I request Damon, Kai and Diana taking care of narcolepsy user?? (>_<) Thank you so much! :3
Heyyy!
Damon Maitsu:

If you have to take medicine for it then he'll always quickly make sure that you have
He's constantly looking up things that might help you deal with it
Nap time? He'll be there
He'll act slightly annoyed and might say that he has stuff to do but he'll always be there if he knows you want him there
He becomes so worried when you get too nervous, but he doesn't want to seem overbearing, so a lot of the time you just see him looking at you with slight concern
It takes him a while to get used to any sleep attacks that you get, but if there's a pattern, hell recognize it and eventually just get ready to catch you in case you fall
Is very strict on y'all's bedtime. Yes, not just you, but him too. He wants to lead by example, even though it might bother him on some nights
Kai Monteago:

He's so nervous at first, you'd think he's the one about to pass out
The medical reminders aren't that frequent, he just mentions it if he sees that you might be feeling a bit odd
Your sleepiness is correlated to how much he talks around to. He won't continue talking if he feels like you're tired, he knows there's a low chance of it sticking
He's always so sick to offer to hold things for you if you say you're experiencing any muscle weakness
He cares but he just has no idea what he's doing really...
Diana Venicia:

If you didn't know her, and you happened to ask her about narcolepsy, she would sound like a doctor
Like she can tell you almost word for words bar for bar what it says on mayo clinic basically
If her partner has something that's troubling then, she wants to know what it is, why it's happening, how she can help, and how you can help yourself
Anytime you feel tired she's running through her list
"Are you okay? Not feeling weak or anything, right? How about we go take a nap together?"
She genuinely doesn't mind you being tired, she just wants you to be okay
Literally just let her know anything she can do to help, because if you don't, she'll get upset and think that she was useless. Lean on her! Literally!!

how many ways can I say c0ck without saying the word? answer below.
crack poetry - proceed with caution ⚠️
I know you watch me as I walk away
callipygian on your mind, is that what you say?
I sway my hips, give you a view of this entrée
does this caboose make your baloney pony turn flambé?
you scrambling to your feet faster than an egg scramble
your hands on my haunches, our limbs become a pasta tangle
I can't see your ding dong, but I can feel it dangle
against my thigh, as my body you begin to travel.
I make you sit down before we start a scandal
a glutton for grub as you reach for my ankle-
to pull on your flesh flute; my toes want to grapple
a third leg between my own, I would like to tackle.
old boy turned old fellow turned old man
heat-seeking moisture missile keeping my attention span
your one-eyed monster, trouser snake came out to play
peckish turned famished; can I have that twice a day?
moisture- and heat-seeking venomous throbbing python of love
would you like to play hide and seek or a little whack-a-mole?
I can feel your ravenous fire hose touch on me, lover-boy
need a little treat or should we move on to the main course?
steamin’ semen truck parking in my big quiff lug
meat Popsicle for lunch, I just can't get enough
mayo-shooting hot-dog gun; I like it rough and tough
quiver bone, you get me to quiver; I can't wait for dinner
winner, your one-eyed wonder weasel can't get any bigger
with vigor, I dance and watch this bad romance linger.
schlong donga-doodle, you ruffle my waffle to rapture
so close to shatter, custard launcher, are you ready to anchor?
desert is a one-eyed yogurt slinger, I turn into a singer
a courtesan for your cum gun; are you, perchance, a witcher?
single-barreled pump-action bollock yogurt shotgun
tell me, mister, would you like more of my jargon pitcher?
Blame Diana Gabaldon's 'How Do I Write Sex Scenes,' and the comprehensive list of terminology for the you-know-what.
You can read the rest of my poems here and here.

Books of the Month: Jan 2025
I've been having a good time lately with poking around, finding books/series that look interesting, and not stressing too much about reading fast enough, or the right genres, or anything like that. (This is always my goal, and I think I'm usually somewhat meeting it, but the past month and a bit have been particularly good on the reading front!)
Sort of relatedly, I've decided that I'm adjusting my own brief going forward when it comes to choosing Books of the Month. So instead of saying I'm posting the books I recommend the most, I'm going to post the books that I thought about the most during the month - that took the most brainspace. (In a positive way. Maybe someday I'll do some dishonorable mentions.) Some overlap with the books I liked best/books I recommend, etc., but mostly if I thought about a book a lot, I want to write about it too! :)
So the books that occupied my brain the most in January are:
Deep Secret (Diana Wynne Jones): I reread this at the beginning of January so some of my thoughts are gone again, but I did enjoy this book maybe more than I have in the past, when I was younger. I love the loving parody (or maybe - realistic depiction) of what a fan conference is like. As usual, all DWJ's characters are flawed and prickly and you like them anyway. The character Maree actually had surprisingly little narration; I thought there was more. But her character comes through so strongly!
Too Many Cooks (Rex Stout): This is #5 in the Nero Wolfe series apparently; it's the first Nero Wolfe book I've read. I thought about it because it's a book from the 1930s and a murder takes place in a resort in West Virginia, and there's a whole host of Black kitchen/hospitality workers who are potential witnesses. So I was ready to sigh through a dismissal of them as individual people, and was pleasantly surprised that in fact, they do turn out to be individual characters, and Wolfe has a little speech where he acknowledges that Black men don't always get included in the social contract against murder. It's still a book written in the 1930s instead of 2025 and it's certainly not perfect on the racism (or sexism) fronts, but progressive for its time!
The Mystery of the Cape Cod Players (Pheobe Atwood Taylor): Speaking of books of their time...I picked up this particular book at a used book store and liked it enough to search for others in the series. Golden Age (written in the 1930s-50s or so), with a detective known (to the characters in the books) as the "Cape Cod Sherlock." His name is Asey Mayo. Having read a couple now, I can say that they're fine and fun as mysteries. What I like even more is that they are very situated in their time and place, so they give little snapshots of what it must have actually been like to live in rural Cape Cod during [the depression/WWII/the 1950s, etc.]. Asey does seem to be one of those detectives who manages to keep his age at about 60ish through three decades of detecting, but the setting changes with time.
Father's Arcane Daughter (E.L. Konigsburg): The copy I bought of this is actually called My Father's Daughter, but I personally kind of like the first title better. This was a book I read as a kid, and I may like it even more now. Narrated by a young man (now adult, as we see in interludes) from a rich, upper class family; his younger sister has some physical disabilities (hard of hearing, definitely clumsy; we don't learn any specific diagnoses) and his much older half-sister was kidnapped before he was born and presumed dead...until she shows up at his family's door, and sort of slowly turns everything on its head. Made me think because it's quite a short book but there's no one easy moral, just some ideas and suggestions.
In the Bleak Midwinter (Julia Spencer-Fleming): This is the first book in a murder mystery series (not cozy, despite small town setting) that is my current low-level obsession. I am having to request the books through inter-library loan, so I'm forced to read slow-ish, which is probably good for me. What to say? Once I get obsessed enough with a series it's hard to tell if it's objectively good but at least after the first book or two I thought "yeah I think these are just well-written!" and then after books 3 and 4 I still think so but I'm now very invested in the characters, so who knows. Look, I expect a book from this series will be on my list for Feb too, so I'll leave it at that for now, but feel free to ask if you want some (subjective) reasons I have been really enjoying them!
#books of the month#book recs#<- i guess i'll keep using that tag too though it's not necessarily accurate#please do feel free to ask if you want to know more about a book. i am writing this list b/c i want to write about them#deep secret#diana wynne jones#too many cooks#rex stout#nero wolfe#the mystery of the cape cod players#pheobe atwood taylor#father's arcane daughter#e.l. konigsburg#in the bleak midwinter#julia spencer-fleming

Boomer is surprisingly agile.
It's not a new thought for Barry, who's sitting in one of many boring JL meetings. Hal, sitting on his right, is chatting silently with a few of his fellow Green Lanterns, who decided that they wanted to be briefed into the mission, while Booster, who came only for the man, is sitting on his left and trying his best not to look miserable. And failing.
Batman's answering the seventh question asked by Plastic Man and by now, Barry's brain is going so fast that he fears he'll jolt and run through the place just to be occupied by something, anything! Yet he stays still and lazily lets himself get lost in his thoughts about the Rouge.
Digger wasn't big on stretching, above the basics, always kinda grimacing when he mentioned or out right asked him if he did Yoga. Normally, before he got his hands on the Speed Gauntlet, it didn't show half as much - normal people just didn't have the means to create enough space that this type of movement needed. Boomer, on the other hand, was natural enough with the Speed Force, that not only he made it look easy, but he also made it look so good.
His body almost moved naturally, twisting and sliding through the air like he was born for it. Few of the people closer to him, that knew about their relationship, asked about it - what's his routine, how can he do that or, usually only asked by other speedsters, how much does he know?
Which was his personal favorite, because how do you say to them that "he knows so much and nothing at all."? He can instinctively know where you'll end up before you know that while speeding, but he has no idea what exactly Speed Force is, he knows about phasing and about how you do it, he has no idea if you can run normally. He's the smartest idiot you've ever met, and he's so adorable while talking about it all, that Flash listens through his stupidest hypotheses.
He'd actually fight the Gotham's Condiment King and his goddamn old mayo shooter just to see Boomer stretch. He wonders if that'd make him even more agile or would it do nothing, since it'd be easier than his normal stuff. Can Digger do splits? Fuck, that'd be a view - he usually wasn't big on exercising or doing anything alike near him. Shame was how Harley called it teasingly, but they both knew by the way his red cheeks would give it away, that she's saying the truth.
Is there a deal to be made here? If he could get him to exercise near him like that...
Fuck maybe he didn't even need to make it a deal, maybe if he'd just say that he doubts it's a possibility for the man, he'd do it just to prove him wrong? Or maybe being sweet was the better option, if he'd get his lover comfortable enough, maybe he could help and what wouldn't he give to lay his hands on those thick thighs and-
"Flash!" a hand landed in front of him, on the table, shocking him from his thoughts. He grimaced when he noticed whose hand was it.
Slowly, he looked up at Batman, ignoring Hal's snickering on his side and the amused stare Diana tried to hide.
"Yes..?" he said, trying his best not to show how he wanted to just run, get away and jump his lover the second he was let go.
Bruce, with a heavy sigh, looked at him with enough disappointment to make him wiggle in his seat. After a few seconds of this torture, he looked up briefly and just gave up.
"Okay, this briefing was... worse than usual. At the end of this week, I'll send you the message with a new date for it, since it's not anything needing our attention immediately... You all are excused." his voice was stoic, but slightly tired, and before Flash could feel bad about it, he sent him a thankful look and bolted. Hal and his friends be damned, he will catch up with them later.
Right now he had to catch up on something else with his dear Rouge.

» National Geographic vol. 54 #4 (textiles), #5 (arroyos); vol. 55 #1 (pájaros) y #2 (religiones); de abril, mayo, julio y agosto de 2024 respectivamente

It's time for another list: Books whose romance male leads...
• Didn't grovel/atone enough (or at all; not even the bare minimum).
• Wronged their lovers too badly. E.g., mistreated her for 20 years.
• Had shoddy redemption arcs.
• Were just too annoying.
• Quite monstrous (hi, Christopher Davenport).
• Were forgiven by their lovers too easily.
• The wronged heroine apologized instead. :/
The MMCs here will give you a deeper appreciation for non-romance novel redemption arcs. For instance, are you not a fan of Catra's redemption arc? Well, I bet you'll never complain about it again after reading these books.
