Lol. Kids' biases in how they perceive their teachers is so strong. I was subbing a fifth grade class that was very rowdy this afternoon. Like, when I was walking there I ran into the principal in the hallway who had just talked to the entire class, and I was warned by the sub who was there in the morning (who apparently you can usually hear a pin drop when she's there, that's how good her classroom management is) that literally no student had been capable of staying on task so far. And that's on top of it being a Friday, in JUNE, where they're already disengaged, and there's some "fifth grade dance" they were all talking about tonight... yeah. Which is to say I had to be very forthright in laying down the line for them several times today.

But at the end of the day, this one boy, who in particular I kept having to talk to about staying on task, came up to me and was like "Can you be our new para in the classroom? You're nice"

I'm like. Lol. I'm not "nice" I'm just a young lady that you don't feel intimidated by.

can't eat crumpets anymore without thinking of how in june i ate a crumpet raw and with no like... condiments or toppings or whatever bc my friend gave it to me and at the time it seemed like a better alternative than everything else we had available for breakfast (mostly like. biscuits and cider. festival was coming to an end and all) and obviously we had nothing to toast it with bc i am not insane enough to toast a crumpet on a meths stove so i just ate it raw. worst crumpet i ever had. best crumpet i ever had also

Absolute Captain Marvel

I was thinking about the Absolute universe that’s coming, an au where heroes are still heroes despite not having one of their core aspects. Where Batman isn’t rich and Martha is alive, Superman was raised on Krypton so was an adult when landing on Earth, and Diana wasn’t raised by Amazons, but by Circe in Hell.

So I’m here thinking what would be the twist on Captain Marvel. And I got suggestions.

1) Instead of being a child in an adults body, he doesn’t get an adult form. He also doesn’t get to age. So it’s eternally being underestimated because of his small form despite being much older than most heroes (having started in the 80s). It would bring a nice contrast to child being told to grow up and adult being told to stand down.

2) Billy and Mary die, so Captain Marvel and Lieutenant or Mary it Miss Marvel is actually C.C and Marilyn Batson grieving their children. Motivation: making sure no goes through the pain of loosing children like they did.

3) Billy gets no family. A lot of Billy’s character is that he finds and makes his own family (Mary, Freddy, the Vasquez’s, the Bromfields … Ect). What if he just, decided to skip all of that. He’ll still be the same, but instead of having the power of friendship, he’ll just have the power of litteral divin wrath. Maybe he got trauma from relying on adults that should have cared for him (I’m looking at you Ebenezer). Maybe he’ll have a “learn to rely on adults” arc with the Absolute Justice League.

4) I know I’ve talked about this before, but what about a Marvel that cares more about Magic than Humans. Instead of being more aligned to “Earths Mightiest Mortal” title, he’s close to “The Champion of Magic”. It would be such a cool concept to have a more magically inclined Cap. Especially when we are getting a Wonder Woman who will be raised by the OG witch herself (Circe). Let them throw magic spell combos.

5) More side effects of the Time Bubble au. War veteran Billy. A city that’s extremely displaced. Norms being now illegal, a whole city of people who need to deal with the fact that any friend, relative or even life outside of Fawcette is just out of time. Have a Cap who struggles with heroics and, well, people outside of Fawcette and the overwhelming guilt. Also, give me a Fawcette city that evolved differently from the rest of the world. They maybe be lacking in technology in some departments, they are extremely advanced in other departments. And maybe sprinkle in some Magic City Fawcette. Or maybe some time shenanigans Fawcette. You get the gist.

Anyways, a lot of these are just some thoughts and durables I’ve taken inspiration from. Let me know if you have any Absolute Marvel Ideas that don’t take away from him being a hero.

 Y’know, I was thinking about like, before the Justice League forms in this au. 

Just slowly rotating Bruce meeting Clark and Diana before they start the league, maybe even help each other out. Need another heavy hitter? Time to call in Clark! Someone mind controls Superman again? Time to call Diana! Need information about some sort of artifact? Diana is there! Want weirdly specific information that no one should know or to get into a place they can’t? Time to call in Bruce! Need a distraction? Boy does Bruce have you covered! Need diplomacy because this alien AI is pissed? Diana pulls on her training as a princess, warrior or not. Need to seem harmless- why, there’s a sunshine alien sweetheart with the same vibes as an overgrown puppy ready to help! 

Honestly it’s a surprise no one has realized they know each other yet, but then again Bruce really embodies being a cryptid and just doesn’t sit still for any potential photos. Sure there are some with Wonder Woman and Superman visible with him hidden in the shadows, but no one outside of Gotham really knows about him. Like I am imagining their friendship being both “two extroverts adopt this introvert” and “we’re coaxing this stray cat with its dozen of kittens over no matter what”
