Day 1: Jewel
When I was brainstorming for this one, I found that this sort of structure in gems was called "crystal twinning" and found it very fitting.

Diadop week takes place this week, JUNE 19-25! 👑🐸🩵💚 sorry this is late, I forget tumblr exists sometimes, I’ll try remembering for 2024.
Here are the prompts for diadop week 2023! Tag your submissions as #Diadopweek2023!
This year’s diadop week is… graphic design is my passione.. im only one person working on this and not a great artist lol cut me some slack
Well, it’s mostly beach themed <3
RULES:
1. This is diadop week, meaning this is only a week for diavolo x doppio. Please do NOT add donatella, risotto, giorno, trish or ANYONE else in a romantic context with them two. I haven’t seen a third person added for any other shipweek so please don’t do it with this one either. personally, I like donadop, but it’s not donadop week you know? I’m not gonna add donatella in here. (There should be a donadop week tho!)
2. If the art contains blood or gore please tag warnings on it! Or censor with the mature filter with “violence”.
3. Writing, cosplays, and ofc artwork, is allowed! Any form of media is allowed! (With writing, post the AO3 link & tag #diadopweek2023)
4. I will accept late submissions, however, I won’t constantly check the tag, so do tag me or dm me it so I can see it!
5. No R18 content for this account! INSTEAD, go to my pinned and click the link or copypaste this to follow @//Diadopnsfwweek on twitter r18 prompts and specific r18 tag. It is not “#/diadopnsfwweek” bc thats too obvious.💀 I’ll only be accepting fellow adults there. (Aka have ur age in bio)
End of rules! Have fun <3

I sat down hoping to bounce off of some #DiadopWeek2022 prompts and tripped and fell into this piece- combined the prompts AU and Dance, wound up with some gothic horror AU boys enjoying a moment together 💘 Sometimes the haunted organ & creaking gramophone play something jaunty!

DiaDop Week 2023 Day 5: Religious Themes - The Abandoned House Demon
Ao3
Quotev
Wattpad
CW: Character Death
Father Pucci, Hot Pants, and Doppio exited the black car after Father Styx parked on overgrown grass. It was dark, but lights, and some bones, were strung from the dead tree to the abandoned house.
“Alright,” Doppio said as he made his way to the house, “let’s exorcise this—gah!”
A skull next to some pulverized bloody meat lay on the table, and the blood trail seemed fresh, causing Doppio to make the sign of the cross out of fear.
The others were busy setting up the tent.
“Don’t head in there straight away,” Styx warned. “I need to set up the computers, and you’ll need to get some equipment.”
“Speaking of equipment,” Hot Pants said, “who’s taking what?”
They finished setting up the tent, and Father Pucci got the equipment from the trunk and placed them inside. “Father Styx will check our sanity from here. He’ll keep one of the crucifixes. He’ll constantly come back and forth to the house, updating us and bringing some sanity pills. Sister Hot Pants will take a thermometer and easel.”
“Easel? What’s it for? Don’t we have a camera?” Doppio questioned.
“The easel is not for painting the ghost,” he explained. “Rather, the ghost paints on the easel. I do not know why they do this, but it will help deduce what the entity is.”
“Aren’t we here to exorcise the ghost? Why does it matter?”
“There could be a chance we could die. The revenant or demon could decide to kill us when we step in. Should one of us survive, we’ll retreat to the base and inform the others about the entity and hope they can deal with it. Speaking of the entity, this one's name is Solido Naso. He responds to people who are alone. I was afraid of this. It looks like I’ll take the spirit box with me along with an ecto glass. Brother Doppio, you will have the EMF reader and crucifix.”
“Wait, what about the candles, the UV light, and the other stuff? Why are we carrying two things and a flashlight when we could carry more.”
Hot Pants sighed and decided to explain. “Has a ghost ever hunted you? My brother and I thought this exorcism thing was a game. It’s not. It’s serious. We carried more than we should, and it slowed us down. My brother didn’t make it.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know,” Doppio commented.
“Don’t be. It was my fault. I was the one who suggested it. I just wanted to know what happened on Cyclone Street. If it weren’t for Father Pucci and Styx, I’d probably join my brother in death.”
Doppio looked in awe at the two men. “Wow, you guys must be experienced.”
“We’ve done this a couple of times. I was in the United Kingdom, exorcising ghosts,” Father Styx said. “Father Pucci here exorcised ghosts in the southern parts of America. Most people in Florida know him.”
“We do not do this for fame, Brother Doppio, just so you know,” Father Pucci spoke. “We do this to free the poor souls trapped in this plane of existence and to keep them from harming people and families.”
“I understand, but since I have the crucifix, shouldn’t I have the spirit box in case Solido decides to attack me?”
“I don’t know.” Father Pucci thought deeply.
“It makes sense,” Father Styx said. “If what Doppio says angers the ghost, he’ll need a crucifix.”
“No, Doppio is new to this. The spirit box will drain his sanity. Plus, I’m afraid the ghost will make contact and start a conversation.”
“But I’m ready for this!” Doppio pouted. “Please, Father Pucci. I’m not exactly new to this. I helped exorcise a ghost in Italy with Risotto Nero, Prosciutto, and Pesci! I was also in Japan, watching some others exorcise a revenant!”
“A revenant? Those entities are unpredictable. Fine, I supposed I could let you handle it. By the way, you should only ask the ghost if they can speak, if they’re there, their name, and when they died. Remember this! Also, you’ll have to be alone, unfortunately. Since you’ll take that, I supposed I’ll have the UV light and ecto glass.”
Suddenly, Doppio wasn’t feeling too confident and gulped. “I-I can do this.”
“I hear a shakiness in your voice,” teased Hot Pants. “Are you sure?”
“The cross. Remember the cross,” Father Styx reminded him.
The cross, right. Doppio gained a little confidence. “Yeah, I have this.”
Father Pucci handed him the spirit box, flashlight, and crucifix, and Doppio hugged the last item tightly as if his life depended on it. Hot Pants and Pucci took their tools and left for the house with Doppio.
It was dark inside until someone turned on the lights. They were currently in the kitchen. Pucci inspected the room to the left while Hot Pants explored the upper floor. That left Doppio to explore the rooms down the dusty dark hallway.
Cautiously, he walked down the halls with the spirit box close to his face while turning all the lights on.
“C-can you speak?”
Silence.
Perhaps Solido didn’t hear him. He cleared his throat and tried to sound more confident. “Can you talk?”
“Come to bed,” Solido whispered.
Doppio turned around, but nobody was there. “Where are you?”
The door to the bedroom opened, and he got a glimpse of a pretty dress. It was the only bright thing in the room before he turned on the lights.
“What’s your name?”
“Diavolo.”
“Diavolo?” Doppio raised an eyebrow, swearing that his name was Solido Naso.
Diavolo flickered the light off and shut the door, causing the priest to slightly jump and yelp. The spirit box from his hands and onto the wooden planks. Luckily, Father Pucci was nearby with the UV lights when he opened the door, revealing Diavolo’s handprint.
“A handprint! However, are you okay, Brother Doppio?”
“I’m fine, I think. My heart is racing. Is that normal?”
“Yes, it’s perfectly normal.” He inspected the room for any ectoplasm. “There aren’t any stains here. I’ll tell Hot Pants to put the easel here and fetch the EMF and ESG. Stay here and communicate with it until it speaks. Remember, the ghost symbol will glow blue when it speaks.” He turned the lights back on. “And make sure to stay in well-lit areas!”
“But he—” Father Pucci left before Doppio could tell him Diavolo had spoken to him. He noticed that he had dropped the UV light. Since Diavolo had communicated into the spirit box, they only needed one piece of evidence to classify the entity. So far, the ghost seemed like a poltergeist, a thaye, or a gul. The group would need the easel and ESG.
Sister Hot Pants entered the room with an easel in her hands. “Why’s the spirit box on the floor?”
“Um, I don’t think the ghost is here,” he lied.
“Are you sure?” She brought out the thermometer. “It’s cold, but it isn’t freezing in here. Father Pucci told me he saw Solido’s fingerprints.”
“How do we know the ghost’s name in the first place, by the way?”
She sighed. “You ask a lot of questions. I can’t believe this is your— What was it? Second or third time?”
“When I went to Japan, I was watching, but my—”
“Enough! The ghost could be a gul and listening to us right now. Your sanity must be low right now. I’ll fetch a sanity pill for you.” She placed the easel down along with the thermometer and left.
Although Hot Pants left the door open, Diavolo shut the door once she strayed away from the bedroom. Stuck in the bedroom, Doppio heard something destroy the lights in the hall and a couple of things snapping but was terrified of stepping out. He sat on the bed, praying Hot Pants would hurry with the pills, but Diavolo revealed himself, intertwining his fingers with Doppio’s and causing him to panic. Diavolo’s eyes were colorless, and his skin was deathly pale. Despite him being dead, Doppio found him strangely beautiful.
“When did you die?” he asked.
Diavolo said nothing but placed a finger on Doppio’s lips before disappearing.
He wanted to ask questions but thought Diavolo wanted him quiet. Turns out Pucci was nearby, judging from the sounds of the EMF.
Pucci barraged through the door. “Doppio, Sister Hot Pants is dead! Solido murdered her! I have an EMF level five! Stop toying with the spirit box since it can’t interact with it. We can assume it’s either an onryo, wraith, oni, or goryo.”
“Wait, it can’t use the spirit box?”
“Some ghosts can speak to you without using the spirit box, such as the mare, but the mare doesn’t leave fingerprints. Why? Did you see the symbol turn blue on the spirit box?”
Did he? Diavolo had surprised him when he responded to his second question—which he had never noticed. “Ghosts can only show three pieces of evidence, correct?”
“So far, yes. It has always been like that. We’ll have to wait and—”
They heard scribbling noises and turned their heads to face the easel. Diavolo drew Doppio surrounded by hearts.
“Wow,” Doppio commented, blushing.
“Fingerprints, EMF, and an easel drawing! We have an onryo! That explains why Hot Pants died so fast. Quickly, this is no time for sitting around! We must return to Father Styx immediately to see our next objectives!”
However, before Pucci could leave, he floated in the air. Doppio watched as Diavolo bent Pucci’s neck, arms, and legs.
“Jesus!” He jumped from the bed, grabbed the UV lights, and examined Pucci’s corpse. Diavolo left his fingerprints all over him.
Speaking of which, he reappeared. His face was close to his. “Doppio, my sweet Doppio, I’ve been searching for someone like you for a long time.” He placed his hand under his chin, tilted his head upwards slightly, so he could make eye contact, and slowly brought their lips together for a chaste kiss. “Do you feel the same way?”
“I do.”
“Stay with me.”
“I’ll repair the house.”
“Good. There’s one person left.”
“Father Styx. He’s coming, isn’t he? Do you want me to deal with him, Diavolo? Let me prove myself to you.”
Diavolo broke the mirror in the corner of the room and handed a large shard to Doppio. “I am bound to this house. If you can kill him, I’ll let you live. If you cannot, your death will be swift and painless, but we’ll be together forever.”
“I won’t let you down.” Doppio prepared himself for an act and hid the shard behind his back. “Father Styx! Help! I lost my flashlight!”
Father Styx rushed into the bedroom, shining his bright light on Pucci’s corpse. “In the name of the Father, of the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” He remained calm while doing the sign of the cross. “Bless Father Pucci. May you rest in heaven with Hot Pants. Amen. Brother Doppio, why are you on the painting? Is the spirit an onryo? We should hurry and leave.”
“Are you sure we should leave? Should we double-check for evidence?”
“I could’ve sworn Pucci said we found fingerprints, but it wouldn’t hurt to check.” Styx grabbed the UV light. “Why are your lips glowing?”
Then Diavolo turned the lights off, causing Father Styx to turn around. Doppio slit his throat with the shard and pushed him onto the floor, breaking the UV light as it dropped with him.
Father Styx covered his neck and struggled to face Doppio. “Why?” He coughed up blood and sweated.
Diavolo appeared next to Doppio, and they kissed each other. “Does that answer your question?” he asked with a wicked smile, watching Styx slowly shut his eyes permanently.

Please participate in this poll if you’re ACTUALLY gonna draw/write/cosplay/etc. for diadop week!!!! Otherwise, ignore this.

⭐⭐ directors cut! For any of the fics from the diadop week prompts this year!
ohoho Excellent. it's late so these will be a bit brief but i absolutely cannot sleep on this (furute!tadhg note: nevermind this is actually obnoxiously long and detailed and i am absolutely going to wake up late tomorrow morning, worth it tho)
i'll cover you: i really loved writing this one... Eventually. i drafted and re-drafted it over and over. it was originally a lot more standard in format and i had these ideas i wanted to do but they just weren't clicking. i don't remember why i decided to try the format i went with but it just immediately made it all come together, the one-sided conversation and all the implications in that were so much fun. the penultimate trish-twist was also iirc not in the original outline but it felt so perfect in the moment. i love doppio as a villain and it was so much fun to lean into that.
stranger in a strange land: blame @mistytpednaem. entirely. we'd spoken about the pinks and foof and the Genders a lot and i'd always wanted to write something so this was my excuse. another one with a big rewrite, that one more my own fault. originally i'd been trying to think of ways to get foof out of prison to meet the diadops and it kept not quite working, but that was because i had broken one of my own rules: never throw away an inconvenience. characters and scenes tend to work best when there's something getting in the way, it adds bite and bounce that keeps things moving. prison is about as inconvenient as it gets, and as soon as i put them all into the same difficult situation it just all flowed. i liked writing a more mature, post-VA diavolo here who has clearly had to chill on a few things but is still essentially his own terrible self. also: loved to sneak in a lil boss!trish.
(as much as someone like me could love anyone): i had this vision in my head for king crimson requiem (or at least diavolo's ideal version of it specifically) for a long while but nothing specific to do with it. this one came out of that, trying to dig into the fundamental flaw with diavolo, which is that he believe in nonsense and the things he wants aren't sustainable or good for him. i genuinely believe that of the main villains he's the one who would truly fail to thrive if he ever "won" his part and i wanted to see what happens when he's gone for so long that even he is starting to realise that, but far too late to fix it.
inside out: my beautiful awful hot mess au. i use present tense in this one and honestly every time i write diavolo it's a real struggle not to, the metaphor is too tempting. i love role reversals for these two and there's clearly not enough so i must once again do everything myself. i really wanted to thread the needle of the switch, keep them both still recognisable but with their dynamic uprooted, and i'm pretty happy with the compromise i came up with? i never wanted diavolo to be completely meek and without any of his grandiosity or doppio to be cold and calculating. diavolo believes so firmly that he Must exist as a uniquely chosen creature, and moving that fixation slightly lower, from king of everything to the king's right hand, breaks him in a fun way. he also can't sidestep the nature of his feelings for doppio as easily as dop can in their original configuration because of how closely doppio is tied to his own ego, resulting in pretty much every line he thinks about him in the narration being one of my favourite things i've ever written, but particularly his contrasting of their different "sharp edges" and his reaction to doppio telling him that he's not angry with him. also: another sneaky trish...
paper boats: i knew i wanted to do an ot3 fic but this one was at the bottom of my list of considerations because i thought, probably accurately, that nobody would care about a spin-off to my big wip that was so entangled in it (far moreso than steady as she goes or gasoline, which i think can broadly stand alone). i think what clinched it was the summary, which is odd because i usually write those last because they are nightmares. but i had started trying to give myself a headstart by drafting rough notes on them as i wrote, and there's such a fun, punchy simplicity to "leone abbacchio is losing his fucking mind." i think before this i wrote his POV all of once, for a few hundred words of another fic, so i was a bit anxious about it, especially as he's on the low end of my tier list out of the main cast and i care a lot about writing characters i am less hype about in a way that still does them justice (this is part of why he gets some of my funniest lines in bngn, and also is objectively right about doppio being sus like, every single time he brings it up). but bngn had already kind of challenged me to get in his head (lol) and i'd been having fun with that and wanted to dig into it a bit more than that fic had allowed, and the whole notion of being possessed is obviously fun and flirty content to me. the secondhand attraction and the combination of soft and repulsive feelings around it was just a delight and the repeating and recursive past stuff was already a big fun theme in bngn but worked even better with abbacchio as a character with his abilities and backstory. i really put him through the wringer on this one and it was great. i think my favourite individual parts would be him summing up doppio's improvised, rough and ready guile and nerve and the section about his ptsd vs mista's gun-based abilities. another aspect that i didn't get to really explore in bngn is that his own idolisation and affection for bruno, giving up his moral autonomy to a person he believes can use it Better, is a parallel to doppio's feelings. they both are willing to give it all to this person they think is remarkable in ways they can't be, and that gives them a lot of strong feelings for that person but a fundamental inability to truly connect with them and see what their issues are and how to fix them because of the pedestal they have put them on and the inferior position they've cast themselves in. so they're stuck going through the motions unable to genuinely meet them as equals. it's messy and unhealthy for all involved and i live for that shit.
land of the dead: another concept i'd wanted to write for a while but couldn't find a way to latch onto. this was very loosely inspired by a piece of fanart that is now probably buried under years of content in my jjba tag, but if anyone dms me i can dig it out of my (extensive) fanart folder lol. for this one the key was revolving it around doppio talking to the original VA survivors, that was the structure that the idea needed to come together, and from there it just worked. it was also a lesson that i need to remember to trust my readers, i was Very worried that people would get frustrated with the mystery and tap out or not understand what was happening. i do worry a lot that when i play with big ideas they will sound smarter and more interesting in my head, lol. but people seemed to really enjoy the process of everything coming together? when you write, never pitch it at an imaginary reader who gets confused, annoyed or bored, and try to fix the imaginary problems they might have with it. always write for an imaginary reader who Gets you, who is on the same page, loves the things you love and is just as excited about the work as you are. it really helps! i think my favourite part of this one is pretty obvious when reading back, because the sadistic glee i'm taking in giorno and doppio's argument is palpable, lmao. it's a whole mess of awful miserable feelings coming together, at each other and themselves, and the moment i wrote that i knew it was gonna work.
there doesn't seem to be anyone around: i used to worry that i didn't have the ability to write sex scenes and that this was a flaw in my writing the way that any glaring omission would be. nowadays, i am certain that i don't have the ability to write normal sex scenes, and i'm kind of okay with that. i just can't talk romantically about the more blunt, mechanical, biological aspects of it; it's probably telling that i never have this problem with gore or violence but i cannot find a way to make some wholesome masturbation sound Vibrant once i get into the nitty-gritty detail. i think it's noticeable that i spend more time talking around it and even the feelings and sensations tend to be a bit more abstract (tho that's not unusual for my style in general). maybe one day i will figure it out. for today, i write fics that are more about self-image and dissociation and asymmetry and playing with power and security. it does amuse me that tho both parts are almost equal if you put them side by side, diavolo's is a bit longer because he is incapable of not making every single thought and feeling The Most Important Thing. the author's note was also originally way longer because i could not shut up about that one scene in hate plus and how it changed my whole view on not just sex scenes but writing entire relationships. i really must get on with the Other sequel fic to 'i think we're alone now' sometime...
