REMAKE - ROUND 4A! MATCH 2 OUT OF 2
Monster Stats & Propaganda Under the Cut:
Diabound Kernel is used by Yami Bakura. Its stats are the following:
Attribute: DARK
Level: 5
Type: FIEND / EFFECT
Effect Type: IGNITION / IGNITION-LIKE / CONTINUOUS-LIKE
Effect (according to the anime): "Once per turn, you can equip this card to a monster OR unequip it to Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position. The equipped monster loses ATK equal to this card's ATK."
ATK: / DEF: 1800 / 1200
Propaganda:
The more it fights, the stronger it gets! While the anime effect is definitely crazier, it's cool to see the card game try and emulate this with the 600 attack gain upon attack declaration.
Blue-Eyes White Dragon is used by Sugoroku Mutou ("Solomon Mutou" in the dub) and Seto Kaiba. Its stats are the following:
Attribute: LIGHT
Level: 8
Type: DRAGON
Description (according to the anime): "This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible, very few have faced this awesome creature and lived to tell the tale."
ATK: / DEF: 3000 / 2500
Propaganda:
It's big, it's strong, it's a freaking dragon for Ra's sake. With a sleek, elegant design and easily recognizable silhouette, this dragon is sure to blast you of your feet. Easily one of the most iconic monsters in the whole series, I mean say Yu-gi-oh to someone who only barely knows the series and what monster are they gonna think of? None other than the Blue Eyes White Dragon of course. And don't even get me started on the fusion possibilities. I mean, Blue Eyes *Ultimate* Dragon? Say no more. And the Blue Eyes is resilient, too. After all, I'm sure we've all heard the classic saying, "If at first you don't succeed, blast them with your Blue Eyes again". This is because the Blue Eyes is persistent. Even in the face of resistance, in the face of seeming defeat, it will bare its fangs and strike again. So vote Blue Eyes White Dragon, the superior duel monster.

GX Teacher!Bakura au info!
( @gx-gameon i figured you'd want more)
-Bakura is so so unhappy that his ties to TKB keep chasing him around. Why is there a giant carving of the Millennium Items in the abandoned dorm? Why is his personal Duel Spirit buddy Diabound Kernel?
-He gets promoted to Slifer Red dorm head right before the Genex tournament since Daitokuji died, which means he gets a long red coat to wear for the rest of the series! 🙃 (He still teaches history though)
-Tragoedia from the GX manga is around. He's getting a bit of a motivation upgrade where he's initially delighted that TKB reincarnated, but then horrified that said reincarnation sided with the pharaoh. Tragoedia just will not leave Bakura alone.
-Tragoedia also completely replaces Nightshroud as the final villain.
-The Tenjoins get improved roles. Asuka is the one to free Fubuki from Tragoedia's control in the volcano duel, and Fubuki in turn saves Asuka from the Society of Light.
-Fubuki also quickly clocks Bakura's past possession problems.
-Themes of history repeating/cycling, reincarnations and 'destined roles', not letting your past haunt you in the present day.

Keeping your favourite ygo cards in your phone case is such a cool idea! Which cards are your favourite?
Thanks!! I admit it was not my idea - I complained about there being no Yugioh phone cases for my phone one too many times and a friend said I should just make my own. So I did :D
Cyber End Dragon, Winged Kuriboh, Diabound Kernel, and Change of Heart are some of my favorites. I keep a copy of Change of Heart in my deck box for good luck too ♥

me thinking about how Bakura's Diabound Kernel copied Kaiba's BEWD's power and TKB used it against Obelisk during his first infiltration into the palace
so I wonder, since technically past Bakura could not have done that, how did that scene truly play out?

ADBK: Slifer the Sky Dragon
Epithet: The Divine Red Judge of the Dead
Voice Actor: Steve Blum
Tribe: The Legendary Ancient Ones
Biography: There were four great divinities that created and watched over the Duelscape; the divine teacher Exodia, the phoenix-like Winged Dragon of Ra, the blue fist of fury Obelisk, and death's ultimate judge, Slifer the Executive Producer- I mean Sky Dragon. Those who have watched the original series know very well of Slifer's set of powers, but for those who haven't, here is a short list of the important points.
His power equates to how many cards are in your hand (which in the Duelscape means that he gains strength when he's around many of his allies)
He has the power to weaken enemies with his second mouth (which is not far off in the Duelscape)
He was one of the Pharaoh's main guardians along with the other divinities.
It is when the Duelscape becomes a factor, however, that things get interesting. For one thing, he uses point 2 as a means to judge the souls of the dead before handing the malicious souls to the Reaper of the Cards.
Slifer has several monsters made to perform tasks between himself and the first Duelscape inhabitants, and would occasionally create a smaller version of himself around holidays in ancient times to perform St. Nicholas-like actions for those who were good that year.
However, the Divine Beasts did have to contend with some rather unpleasant monsters. Specifically the Dark Entities known as Reshef, Seven-Armed Fiend, and their main general Diabound Kernel.
The two sides fought for thousands of years, Exodia teaching many students in the hopes of making strong and wise allies to fight Reshef if things went south.
After that mess had been finished, the divinities chose to exile themselves from the Duelscape in order to prevent any evil forces from using their powers to bring back Reshef and Seven-Armed Fiend. Legends say, however, that one day they would return to help save the Duelscape from an unknown threat in the not-too-distant future.

There was one thing the thief wondered too. If the pharaoh was still around what about the Items? The other didn't seem to have the Puzzle so they may be gone. And if that was the case it meant that the body he saw in front of him wasn't Yuugi's. It was his own. The fact that he also had some shadow powers confirmed this.
He had expected the shadows to stop the energy ball. He had just wanted to test how powerful they were. Their intentions were also clear. They wanted to kill. He could also easily be outnumbered if the other summoned more.
He needed to fight monsters with a monster. He pulled out a card and brought it to life with this ability. It was Diabound Kernel.
"What can I say? Old habits die hard." There was indeed no reason to try to reason. The thief had been long consumed by the anger and hatred, the chaos. The very things things that had turned him into a barian in the first place.
He glanced at the shadows. It seemed like there was more than meets the eye. What else could the other do? He shot an energy ball at him.

The Eye of Timaeus is used by Yugi Mutou/Yami Yugi. Though this is technically a spell card, it was used in a way more similar to a monster card hence why it is included. The real reason why it is included is because Mod didn't realize it wasn't a monster until I already made a bracket listing.

More GX Teacher!Bakura AU thoughts:
-Bakura is this close to an aneurism at all times.
-Sample thoughts he has at various points in the au:
--Why are we not reporting the missing students
--Why is there a giant carving of the Millennium Items in the abandoned dorm
--Why did the headmaster just give most of these super important keys to the students to guard???
--(During the Domino City Field Trip) Why is Slifer Red forced to camp outside overnight while everyone else gets hotel rooms???
--(Halfway through season two probably) Why does Slifer Red still have no head teacher after Daitokuji died???
--(At various points in the series) GDI Judai get back here stop running at the danger stop trying to duel every single threat
-He thought this would be easier compared to his possession filled teen years. He was wrong. He is so stressed dealing with this school.
-His stress is not helped by the fact that he can see duel spirits and has Diabound Kernel as his Surprise Duel Spirit Buddy. Is that the Diabound itself, or a duel spirit copy? He doesn't know and doesn't want to think about it or the implications of it too hard.

He dodged the energy ball. “If you think you can take anything from me you are mistaken”, he said and pulled out a card and brought the monster to life. It was Diabound Kernel and it wrapped around the other and squeezed.
“Oh no you don’t!” He said as he pulled out the card as well and even brought to life was Number 32: Shark Drake
“So you can do that too. But it’s no use. If your monster attacks Diabound it’ll hurt you too”, he pointed out.
“Hmph…I’m not going to attack it.” He said as he got a plan
“Whatever you are planning I wouldn’t do it. Or Diabound will crush you”, he said and the monster tightened its grip, like a snake squeezing its prey.
So Reginald is now pulling out the card again, it was No.73 Abyss Splash
Diabound tightened its grip. “Every time you move Diabounds grip gets tighter”, he told.
He realizes this as he tried to attack that, it will hurt him as well
He grinned. “You lost.”
“I..Don’t want…to lose…” Reginald said as he is mad
He laughed at his suffering.

*inhales deeply*
you ever think about....... Diabound?
how it was born from tkb’s pain and anger and became so big and powerful?? and how it rivalled each of the Egyptian God Monsters and proved to be pretty close on their range?? and how it never became a duel monster card because pegasus never knew abt its existence and no i’m not talking abt the trash they pulled in the anime i don’t even think abt it . i’m talking abt the ygo manga because they tried and tried many times to seal it in a stone tablet BUT THEY NEVER MANAGED . cause it was too powerful and it died just as it was born: as an iconic Ka belonging solely to a vengeful young thief and..... sorry i’m emotional-
#and if it became dm card it would have been level bewd strong - no one can convince me otherwise#this is why diabound kernel makes no sense#this is why the anime makes no sense#diabound#thief king bakura#yugioh#bakura#yu gi oh#ygo#manga#ygo manga#ziggy talks#*#btw priest set wrote this not me

ADBK: Vennu, Bright Bird of Divinity
Epithet: The Primal Divine Protector
Voice Actor: April Winchell
Tribe: The Fairy Kingdom
Biography: Gracefully flying across the battlefield, Star Squad Chi general Vennu is said to be one of the oldest Fairies currently living. She was originally a courtier to the Winged Dragon of Ra, along with fellow birds Punished Eagle and Monster Bird, and used her Primal Cry to devastate the Diabound Kernel army led by the Seven-Armed Fiend.
When WDR exiled himself along with the other Egyptian Gods, Vennu joined Gyakutenno Megami in creating the Fairy Kingdom Tribe, and slowly amassed a divine mass that set out to fulfill the Egyptian Gods' desire to maintain balance in the Duelscape. She has a nephew who works for Harpies named Birdface, who coincidentally serves as an ambassador to the Fairy Kingdom.

Diabound Kernel
“When this card declares an attack: It gains 600 ATK. During either player’s turn: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; it loses ATK equal to this card’s current ATK until the end of this turn, then banish this card until the Standby Phase of the next turn. You can only use this effect of ‘Diabound Kernel’ once per turn.”

Question about Diabound Kernel:
“When this card attacks, it gains 600 ATK.”
Is this cumulative or temporary and immediate?
As in, is this a monster you need to stop right away before it turns into a 3600-and-climbing nightmare, or just something you need to attack with a powerful monster and hope that it doesn’t activate its special ability?
#I'm guessing it's the latter#because otherwise it's just a supremely broken ruler of death#it's more strategic with the latter...#diabound kernel#yu-gi-oh
