Let's see @oddhogg 's comments to miaomiao "If you follow my stories you’ll know I’ve had a rough few days. My blood sugars would not stay in range. Actually most of the time they weren’t even close to my target range. It’s pretty unusual for me to be so wildly out of control with my diabetes and I hate it. With help from my @miaomiao_smart_libre_reader (Ad-gifted for review previously) and a 130% tbr from my pump things are back on track and I feel a lot better. The cause is still unknown - but that’s just typical of life with type 1 🙄#diabetes #t1dlookslikemet1 #type1diabetic #type1strong #diabeteslife #t2d #miaomiao2 #diabetescommunity #type2 #diabetesawareness #diabeticproblems #fuckdiabetes #beyondtype1 #bloodglucose #diabetestechnology #freestylelibre https://www.instagram.com/p/CCqIiXOhSlN/?igshid=17a1lngthvql2

Hm. diabetes is a serious illness that is completely genetic and immune based and has no grounds in weight despite what media is constantly depicting,,, it isn't a "haha they're fat, must be diabetic" thing, people die from diabetes on the daily because it is incredibly hard to work for a dead organ at all times, every day, for the rest of your life,,, my near death experiences did not happen for tv shows and movies to crack jokes at my expense. Don't make fucking funny when it's caused me to go blind. Is it funny to talk about when I tell you about when my blood sugar got so low I had a seizure? Is it fucking funny when someone tells you they vomited blood because it caused massive internal inflammation?? Is it fucking funny when someone you loved gets it and winds up comatose or worse? Is it funny now?? Is brain swelling from high blood sugars funny now??
Is it a joke to you now? We aren't your punchline. Get an actual sense of humor.

COVID-19 and Type 1 Diabetes
I’ve just been reading about COVID-19 and the affect it has on someone suffering with type one diabetes
-
In my mind I thought that because my blood sugar is under control, even if I was to catch COVID-19, it would have no difference to me compared to the general population. It appears that I was wrong
-
I was reluctant to read up too much about this initially. Denial being the driving force. Not wanting to think that I am more at risk, due to the life long nuisance that I have. Despite loved ones and friends trying to explain to me
-
If I was to except this it felt like T1D had won another battle of this lifelong war
-
Reading about it and realising that actually I am more at risk of having a severe reaction was a slap in the face and a friendly reminder that I do have a chronic illness
-
I am very good at staying positive and because my good days do out weigh the bad, days like this make the bad days even harder to digest
-
I give myself 5 minutes to feel how I want to feel and then remind me that it’s okay to not be okay. You sometimes have to ride the wave and these feelings of negativity will all blow over
TIP: It is okay to have these feelings. You just need to be able to control them and not allow them to persist. A walk helps me a lot. Talking to someone that understands can also be of great help
-
Side note: This might be one victory to diabetes. Remember that you are and will beat it during many other battles you will have during your life.
-
Stay safe ❤️

I feel the need to vent
So I ordered omnipods at the beginning of the month from Solara. They say something about needing a prior authorization from my insurance company. I say, okay, well, if that’s all, that’s fine. (My insurance company sucks, but they’re pretty good when it comes to customer service and all)
I decide to wait it out. Two weeks later, they’ve taken money out of my bank account but haven’t delivered the supplies. This seems iffy to me, so I give them a call.
They haven’t figured out the auth. It’s the only thing they need to ship. I ask if they can call to figure it out, I’m told that I should call (not them). I am not happy with this, but I’m also pissed because I’m out of supplies and I’m tired of shots.
My insurance company says that my plan specifically doesn’t require prior auths for my pods. So I call Solara back with the news. They send another freaking email and say they’ll contact me. I’m not going to take this sitting down at this point, so I call again. And again. For the next three days I call them and tell them I’m out of supplies and they haven’t dealt with my problem. Nice people on the phone, promise to help me, and nothing happens.
So finally, at this point, I’m done. I’m very frustrated, I know all they have to do is make a phone call, I pestered them while working a job and having an internship/classes so they can definitely make a call that’s PART OF THEIR FREAKING JOB IN A DAY however apparently they didn’t find the time. I decide to call my insurance company myself and tell them to call Solara. The very nice lady offered to set up a three way call. After we get into the system, she backs me up on the policy I have and within 5 minutes the problem is solved. Magically. One damn phone call was all it took when I forced Solara to face the music.
Moral of this story. Corporations suck, the health system in America sucks, and sometimes you have to force the people who are supposed to help you to actually do their jobs.

"Momma says they my magic shoes" Well I finally got my #diabeticshoes from @orthofeet1 and have a #prescription on how to wear them. Ive never had prescription #footwear so this is really interesting. And I can't wear them outside for the first week. But I have to do an hour there first day, 2hrs the next, up to day 5 and I go all day wearing them. So I don't normally wear shoes in the house. So that's going to be interesting. But glad to try them out, maybe it'll help with my back pain and provide me with support. Being #diabetic sure has a lot of #maintenance #diabeticproblems #marriedtotheneedle #duckfiabetes #diabeticissues https://www.instagram.com/p/B4QyV7NJUhF/?igshid=1ousmuvtqwet
