#day1 Hello everyone I’m Marisa! I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for almost 4 years now. I’m not sure what else I need to put on here for this type1challenge for #diabetesawarnessmonth. I enjoy long walks to the fridge and procrastinating my homework until the VERY last day. I do photography as a side hobby. I live with the LOML and our cat Dopy. I’m the oldest of 4 girls and I only have one other type 1 in my family and it’s my little cousin Olivia. I’m hoping that someday they find a cure for this awful disease. I currently use a dexcom and MDI for my diabetes management. If you want to know anything else don’t hesitate to message me.

13 years and counting! It is not something I enjoy but I manage. I take my life serious as I value it and I'm not promised tomorrow with it. Please be mindful of your body, love it, respect it, take care of it. I promise you having to take 2 different kinds of insulin 3x a day on top of oral medications is not ideal. Having this disease makes life harder, not impossible but harder. So for the sake of your life and your loved ones educate yourself on ways to prevent diabetes and please bare with those of us who walk with it. Diabetes Awareness Month!

It has just recently come to my attention that this month is Diabetes Awareness Month. I do not know exactly which forms of diabetes (juvenile, type two, or gestational) it specifically targets, but it's important to brush up on your knowledge of all of them! Living with Type One (Juvenile) is difficult. There are doctor's visits every month, countless finger pokes a day, shots, insulin. Diabetes can cause mental illnesses, such as depression, It goes hand in hand with celiac, and needle entry points over the years toughen the skin and cause scar tissue damage. People say stupid things like "you can't have any sugar because you have diabetes" and they get you sugar free candy on holidays. This year for Halloween, I got an apple and peanuts. No joke. They ask ridiculous questions, like if you've been diagnosed with the "worst" diabetes form. Let me tell you; all. Of. Them. Are. Bad. They all cause complications and hardships and headaches and heartaches. So please be aware this month! Donate to the JDRF fund! Learn something new about the disease! Say a prayer! It all helps. Thank you!
